7. SPEAKING OF WHICH. pete did this little “magic trick” where he disappeared behind a curtain he held up on stage and then reappeared at the BACK of the stadium towards the seats where we all were! it was fun and also pretty cool!! he stayed there for a whole song too :)
8. pete had like three wardrobe changes and by that i mean he had 3-4 tops which were a giant snuggie-style oversized hoodie, which he took off at some point to reveal a t-shirt underneath? and then when he was up at the back of the stadium he was in a normal-sized hoodie and THEN at the end of the show he was wearing the iconic mesh-and-roses top. fashionista
9. the PYROTECHNICS. i’ve never been to a show with pyrotechnics but the way they were integrated at this show were SO COOL. FLAME JETS AND FIREWORKS. and of course pete’s flamethrower bass. i yelled a lot during this show and a lot of the yelling was about the flamethrower bass
10. the location was really interesting!! the weather was FANTASTIC and besides that it was a really cool little (“little”) tennis stadium that was in the suburbs of queens NY like LITERALLY tucked in between a bunch of rows of houses :> there were people playing tennis at the tennis club right next door that we could see from our seats! it just REALLY fit the vibe fob seem to have been going for the whole tour + pete talked about how his mom was from queens and his grandmother had graduated from the high school in the neighborhood (forest hills) the stadium was in 🤗 ALSO there was this on one of the pillars which i think illustrates how very fitting to the whole vibe of the album/tour/fall out boy in general the place was:

11. even the parts of the set that were more “standard” like the pink seashell opening the concert and love from the other side and the big classics like sugar we’re going down and thnks fr th mmrs and saturday (SATURDAY. TO END THE SHOW) were just. so incredible. i’ve never been able to see fall out boy live before so it was just such an incredible privilege especially since @movingdayy was so kind as to invite me and erie and gifted me a ticket so that i would be able to see the tour even though i thought all year that i wouldn’t be able to :’) the sets were super incredible and the band interacted with all the setpieces a lot too which made it really unique
12. i handed out a LOT of bracelets and i STILL have a crazy amount. mutuals if you want a fababoi bracelet and are willing to give me your address i will mail you one ❤️
so YEAH that’s my quick overview of the concert it was just insane, incredible, life-changing, etc etc etc etc 🧡 i probably forgot some stuff that i will inevitably kick myself for but those were like. THEE standout moments. i sang along to every song they played and my throat hurts and it’s 2 am and erie and i just swapped drivers for the rest of the way home so i MAY be missing some important things due to being overtired 👍

A/N: So, I've had this idea for quite a while. Basically since I watched The Last of Us. I loved Pedro in the role of Joel, but I kept thinking how incredible Jensen would have been. Which then made me think of how amazing he was as Endverse!Dean which then led me to this idea. Lol! I've stolen the premise of Ellie's storyline from TLOU, but made her a grown up, a reader insert, and a love interest for Dean.
If you've never seen TLOU, don't worry - you don't need to have seen it to understand this story. 😊
I've taken some liberties with the Endverse in my story, changed a few things from canon, but kept lots of things too.

The big, wide log cabin seemed so completely empty after Dean Winchester left, as though his presence alone was what had filled it.
The blue-eyed man - Castiel - ran after him quickly, shouting an order to a guard outside to let no one go in. 
So Y/N sat completely still, listening to the muffled sounds of camp life happening on the other side of the pine walls. Her exhausted brain was trying to comprehend what had happened, trying to piece it all together.
The first person she'd encountered had been the woman, Risa. She and another soldier had been guarding the border of the camp when Y/N and Emma finally stumbled out of the forest.
Y/N was fairly certain she would have been shot on site if Emma hadn't been there. Instead, their hesitation gave her the chance to swear up and down that, despite appearances, she wasn't a Croat.
The two soldiers had eye-balled each other and Risa had finally told the other guard to stay at the outpost. 
“The Boss is still out on the raid. I'm taking them to Castiel.”
She'd pulled the heavy chains and manacles out of the guard post shack, and brought Y/N, cuffed and bound, to see Castiel. She’d met with him in the big cabin, tying Y/N to the table and then explaining things to him. He'd seemed a bit out of it at first, but then seemed to sober up quickly when Risa explained the situation to him a second time. Then he examined Y/N and made her tell him the story again. His face got progressively more dumbstruck as she spoke.
When he was informed that the Boss was back, he'd told Risa to take Emma away somewhere safe while they all talked.
Now, in the big, lonely cabin Y/N had to shake her head. She’d been so certain, in the end, that she was going to die. But Dean had walked away and left her breathing.
Just another miracle that somehow kept her alive for one more day.
The evening wore on and the light began to disappear, leaving only a dusky blue twilight inside the cabin. She didn't like the night time and the dark. It was a fear that had started with the poltergeist when she was sixteen - when every time she turned off the light and closed her eyes, something evil emerged to cause her pain and terrorize her in the dark.
Before long, the very last of the twilight left the room, and unknown, unkind darkness loomed all around her, and she began to feel the panic rising. But suddenly, just before it could take hold completely, Dean strode through the door, carrying a bright lantern that banished the dark. She breathed a sigh of relief, thankful to see him in spite of everything.
He moved to stand directly in front of her, almost exactly where he stood when he’d elected not to shoot her. She looked up at him and gave a slight smile, not knowing what else she could do. Then she thought to ask the question foremost on her mind.
“Can I see Emma? I'd like her to know I'm safe.”
“No.” He said, shooting down the request without hesitation. He moved over to a metal folding chair that sat at the end of one of the tables and pointed at it.
“I'm gonna sit right here, all night, not sleeping. And if you so much as twitch? I promise I'll put you down.”
Y/N still couldn't help but appreciate the light he'd brought in for her, and the fact that she was still breathing, so she gave another half smile. “Okey dokey.”
He looked briefly taken aback by her response before his scowl returned. He plunked himself down on the chair and folded his arms across his chest, sitting up ramrod straight. It didn't look very comfortable.
But then, her spot on the hard floor, chained to the table, wasn't all that comfy either. But she decided she was grateful that the length of the chain allowed her to comfortably move her arms around. That was something.
She leaned back against the wide metal leg of the table and tried to relax. But soon her active mind was wandering and she stole a glance at Dean, wondering about how very different he was now. Of course twelve years was a long time in the best of circumstances. Twelve years spent fighting monsters and battling through an apocalypse was bound to change a person. 
As she stared at him he turned his head and caught her at it outright. She blushed slightly and decided to cover with a question. “Can I see Emma tomorrow?”
“No.” Dean said before going back to staring at the far wall.
His outright refusal was frustrating. But she worried that arguing with him might be considered “twitching”, so she kept her mouth closed.
The silence stretched out again and made Y/N antsy. She was used to Emma’s little-girl-babbling, her singing, and just her general five-year-old noisiness. The camp was mostly silent on the other side of the wall as well, only the crickets could be heard, playing their creaky songs.
Her eyes once again settled on the only interesting thing in the room, Dean. She tried to be less obvious about staring this time, but realized she’d failed when he spoke harshly without looking in her direction.
“Why are you staring at me?” His voice was full of annoyance.
“I’m not.” She said quickly and unconvincingly.
He finally looked at her and his face was cold and angry. She remembered that he used to have a really bright, beautiful smile. 
“Why can’t I see Emma?” She asked, aware she was probably pushing buttons she shouldn't.
Dean ignored her and slowly looked away again. Y/N huffed out an angry puff of air and despite her worries about riling him, decided to argue. “She’s my daughter. I just want to make sure she’s okay, and let her know that I’m okay too.”
He remained silent and Y/N’s voice became desperate. “Please!”
Dean swung his head back to look at her angrily. “Look, I’m probably going to end up shooting you. When that happens, do you want her to have to go through all of it again? Or worse, have her sitting in the room when you turn and I have to take you out?”
Y/N felt a lump form in her throat, but she shook her head. “No.” She said softly.
Dean lifted his hand and then dropped it, looking away again. “So okay. Then shut up about it.”
Y/N was only a little offended and sighed slowly. After being quiet for a minute she spoke with another frustrated sigh. 
“Okay, but do we just have to sit here? This is boring.” Her eyes lit up slightly. “We could play twenty questions.”
Dean looked back at her and his expression was finally registering as something other than angry or blank. He obviously thought she was nuts. 
She shrugged. “Just to pass the time.” When he just continued to stare, she shook her head. “No? How ‘bout the alphabet game?”
Dean’s perplexed expression fell back into his usual scowl but Y/N trudged on anyway. “The alphabet game is where you pick a subject, like countries of the world, or 80s action movies or something, and then go back and forth, each having to come up with something that matches the next letter. Like if I said ‘Action Jackson’, you’d say…’Beverly Hills Cop’, then I’d say-”
“Shut. Up.” Dean said succinctly. His mossy green eyes were dark, and quiet frustration oozed out of him.
Y/N slumped back against the table leg. “Sorry. I talk when I'm nervous, and when I’m bored. So, it’s a double whammy here. Hence the motor mouth.”
“Go to sleep.” Dean said in a clipped tone.
“I have too much adrenaline for sleep. I WAS almost shot today, after all.”
Dean’s jaw clenched before he looked away from her again and leaned back slightly in the chair. “If you don’t shut up and go to sleep I may change my mind about the ‘almost’ part.” 
Y/N bit her lip trying to suppress a giggle as exhaustion and adrenaline combined with her twisted sense of humor. The result was a loud snort that had Dean once again looking at her like she was nuts.
She smiled at him, wishing he’d smile back, and shared the movie quote that was tickling her funny bone. 
“Good night, Westley. Good work, sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you in the morning.”
When Dean just stared at her silently, she shook her head. “Princess Bride? No? It’s a classic.” 
She swore she saw his hand move towards the holster on his thigh and she raised her hands in surrender. “Okay. Sorry. I’ll be quiet now.”
Dean stared a while longer at her and she wondered if he really was contemplating shooting her, until he finally looked away and settled himself more comfortably in the chair.
She sighed. It was gonna be a long night.

Y/N was floating down a river in a little canoe. Emma was sitting across from her and talking to her, though she was still a baby. 
“We’re lost, Mommy.” She said and Y/N shook her head. She had to keep her baby safe and that included keeping her safe from the truth.
“No we’re okay, baby.” Y/N said as the river got choppy and sharp rocks jutted out, waiting for them around every bend. They careened straight towards one, and Y/N could do nothing to steer the canoe around it; the one oar she had was mostly turning her in circles. They smashed into the rocks and the boat began filling with water.
“Mommy, the water is coming up.” Said Baby Emma. “We’re gonna drown.”
“No, we won’t baby. I won’t let us.”
Y/N tried to scoop the water out with her hands, but it was just too fast. They were sinking. Y/N grabbed for Emma but the baby began to float away. 
“Emma!” Y/N called out to her daughter as she floated farther and farther away. But even though she was almost a mile away, Y/N could still hear her little voice right in her ear.
“You lost me, mommy. I can’t come back, I’m lost.”
“No! I didn’t!” Y/N cried out, jerking awake.
The cabin had sunshine pouring in through the east-facing windows. It was morning, she was alive, and so was Emma, she reassured herself, she was just out somewhere in the camp. Her recurring nightmare could be left in the shadows. She took a deep breath and looked over at Dean. He was staring intensely at her. She raised her hands.
“Sorry, not ‘twitching’, just a bad dream.”
Dean still didn’t blink. It was unnerving. “Did you really not sleep at all?” Y/N asked.
“Said I wouldn’t.”
Y/N took in his posture in the chair, straight and alert; he’d barely moved an inch all night. It made her smile and shake her head.
“Huh.”
Dean’s scowl was firmly in place. “What?” He questioned.
Y/N shrugged. “No, nothing. It’s just good to see that things haven’t changed much, after all.”
Dean scoffed. “Woman, everything in the world has changed.” He looked away from her. “And it just keeps changing every day.”
“Maybe,” Y/N conceded. “But yet here you are, all these years later, and you’re still protecting people.” 
His head swung back towards her and he seemed offended. “What the hell are you talking about?”
Y/N lifted a manacled wrist and gestured beyond the cabin. “You sat up all night, in what I can only assume to be the world’s most uncomfortable chair, to make sure that everyone in the camp was safe from a potential monster.” She shrugged again. “Because you’re still protecting people.”
“That is not what this is.” Dean said angrily, and Y/N raised an eyebrow.
“No?”
“No.” Dean reiterated. “I am the leader of this camp, and leaders do their own dirty work. If you turn, I’m gonna be the one to shoot you.”
“To save your soldiers having to do it.” Y/N said with a nod. 
“No!” Dean barked. It surprised her that he was so angry about what she was saying. It was obvious to her. The hunter she’d known may have turned into a soldier, may have gotten a little harder, but from everything she’d seen, he was still Dean Winchester underneath.
His face was a snarl now, though. “Look, I don’t want you thinking I’m some kind of benevolent nursemaid here.” Dean tried to explain. “Everyone in camp has jobs, has their roles. It’s how we’ve all survived so far. My role is to keep the camp guarded. And I do that so everyone else can perform their roles. It’s simply a matter of survival. If you turn into a Croat and start killing folks, that lowers our numbers, makes us all more vulnerable. That’s all this is. So don’t go thinking I’m some kind of bleeding heart. When the time comes, I will take you down.”
Y/N nodded slowly. “Okay.” She said calmly. She didn’t really believe a word of it. But she wouldn’t argue with his need to make her see him as deadly. 
“I mean it. I won’t hesitate.” Dean said coldly.
“But,” Y/N looked at him and gave a small smile, “you already did. Hesitate, I mean.”
Dean’s jaw ticked. “Are you taunting me?” His voice was low and very menacing. 
Y/N raised her hands, making the chains rattle. “No!” She denied vehemently. “I’m not taunting you, I’m thanking you. That hesitation saved my life.”
Dean’s glare was hot and angry. “Well, like I told you, things change real quick these days, so don’t tempt me.”
He turned away from her again and Y/N lowered her hands. His attitude was not what she’d expected. He honestly seemed insulted that she’d implied that he was a good man who made it his mission to keep people safe.
Silence descended again, until Y/N began shifting around, noisily rattling her chains. 
“Stay still.” Dean barked without looking at her.
“I can’t.” Y/N said, slightly embarrassed. “I…I have to…pee.”
Dean turned to look at her for a moment and then shrugged. “Go ahead.” 
Y/N’s face scrunched up in disgust. “Ew.” When Dean made no move to rectify the situation, she let out an annoyed huff. “Do you at least have a bucket?”
Dean continued to stare at her for a long time, before calling out. “Johnston!”
A thin man holding a rifle stepped in the door. He’d clearly been standing just outside. “Yes sir?”
“I need your help with the latrine.”
“Sir?” The young man’s face was confused and Y/N snorted out a laugh. 
Dean shot her a dirty look. “Shut up.” He ordered. She bit her lip to stifle her smile. 
He turned back to the soldier. “With her, Johnston.” He said, pointing at Y/N. “I need help taking her to the latrines. I’m gonna hold her chains, so I need you to keep a gun on her.”
“Oh!” The man was clearly very relieved. “Yes sir.”
Dean stood up and took a key from the inside pocket of his green canvas jacket, bending to unlock the padlock that kept Y/N attached to the table. He pulled her to her feet and she stumbled into him, her legs being slightly wobbly and asleep from her uncomfortable position.
“Sorry.” She said, suddenly shy as she stood so near him. She looked up into his face and was slightly mesmerized by his shining emerald eyes and the dusting of freckles on his cheeks. He really was remarkably beautiful, moreso today than when he’d come to save her all those years ago.
Dean just grunted and stepped back, holding her thick chains in his big hand easily. He took the lead, his long strides forcing her to jog along behind him or risk being dragged all the way.
The camp was still just waking up and she could smell coffee brewing around the campfires where people sat sleepily rubbing their eyes and then popping them wide open as the strange procession passed by them. She tried to smile at them, but the fear on their faces made her remember her bloodshot eyes, and she lowered her head. They probably thought their leader had gone crazy, dragging a Croat around on a leash.
After a few minutes of walking they reached a row of outhouses, plain but well built. Dean pointed to the one on the end of the row and Y/N went in. She stopped just inside the door, looking back at Dean.
“Are you going to let go of the chain?”
“No.”
She frowned and waved her hand at the wooden door. “I can’t close the door if the chain is in the way.”
Dean just shrugged in answer.
Y/N’s face was imploring. “Come on.”
Dean said nothing.
Y/N gritted her teeth. “Well could you at least look the other way?”
“No.”
Y/N rolled her eyes and let out a little growl of frustration. “For pete’s sake, I am in chains, and you’re holding on to them! Where the hell am I gonna go if you look away for a minute?”
Dean stared at her a moment longer before finally, begrudgingly, turning his head. 
“Thanks.” Y/N mumbled, trying to pull the door over as far as it would go with the chain stopping it. 
When she was finished, she came out with pink cheeks. There was no way both men hadn’t heard her peeing. There were definitely some real indignities involved in people thinking you were a monster.
When they got back to the cabin, Dean was locking Y/N back up to the table, crouched down beside her, when her stomach rumbled from hunger. He ignored it, double checking her manacles before walking out and leaving Johnston watching over her with his rifle.
A few minutes later though, a young girl, probably no more than thirteen, came in with a bowl of oatmeal and some canned oranges. She also had a cold glass of water on the tray and Y/N groaned out loud. She hadn’t realized how thirsty she was until she saw it there. Her groan seemed to startle the girl who was approaching Y/N with considerable trepidation.
Y/N tried smiling again, knowing there was nothing she could do to change her bloodshot eyes, but hoping she could still show kindness in them. 
“Hi.” She said softly. “My name is Y/N, what’s yours?”
“Theresa.” The girl said, as she came a little closer. “Boss told mom to make you some breakfast and she sent me to bring it.”
Y/N nodded. “Thank you so much. It smells delicious. Tell your mother I said thank you as well.”
Theresa nodded back and finally came up beside her to set the tray within reach on the floor. Then she scuttled away quickly and Y/N tucked into the food. The oatmeal was slightly stale and plain with nothing to go in it, but it was warm and filling and the oranges were sweet and juicy despite their slightly tinny taste. It was the best meal she’d had in well over a week and she was grateful to Dean, the man who didn’t care about anyone, for providing it for her.
She hoped Emma was eating well this morning too, and that she was somehow coping with everything. She closed her eyes and tried to send her daughter strength.
The next few days passed much in the same way. Dean would watch her every night, assuring her that he was watching for any signs she was turning. But a couple days in, she woke up in the night to see his head slumped onto his chest, exhaustion finally winning out over any remaining fears he had of her changing.
On her fifth morning, Dean was locking her back up to the table after a visit to the latrines (during which he now allowed her to take the chain in with her and shut the door), when he swore and grabbed onto her right hand. He pushed the manacle up further on her arm and examined her wrist where it had been rubbed raw on the underside.
“What the fuck? Why didn’t you tell me you were hurt?”
Y/N shrugged. “Didn’t hurt that much, and I figured you wouldn’t care, you know, if you were still figuring on shooting me.” She said with a teasing smile.
Dean gave her his usual dirty look. “Yeah well, I wouldn’t want you to die of sepsis before I get the chance.”
He called to Patrick whose turn it was to guard the cabin for that morning. When the red-headed man stepped inside, Dean told him to bring a first aid kit from the medical tent. When Patrick left, Dean pulled another key from inside his jacket and unlocked the manacle on Y/N’s right hand.
Her arm felt strange without the extra weight of the manacle and chain. Dean checked her other wrist, satisfied that she only had the one wound. When Patrick returned with the first aid kit, Dean began cleaning the raw spot on Y/N’s grubby skin. 
As he worked, Theresa came in with Y/N’s breakfast. She pulled up short when she saw Dean there, since he was usually gone by the time she came in. Y/N tried to encourage her forward. 
“Thank you, Theresa. Don’t worry, your boss is just fixing up a scratch on my wrist. You can still bring breakfast over.”
The girl hesitated before moving over to Y/N and setting the tray on the floor. “Have you seen Emma today?” Y/N asked. 
Most of the time, she tried desperately not to think about what her daughter was going through. If she were to dwell on it too long it would drive her mad. As it was, the nightmare of watching Emma float away from her, was coming two or three times a night now.
The girl looked afraid to answer with Dean there and kept glancing over at him, clearly nervous. “It’s okay.” Y/N reassured her again. “Please, how is she?” Y/N asked, aware that desperation laced her voice.
Theresa looked up at Y/N, her big brown eyes far too wise for a thirteen year old girl.
“Sad.” She said simply before standing and scurrying out of the room.
Y/N felt like a knife was twisting in her gut. She closed her eyes and tried to stop her tears from falling, but simply couldn’t. Two fat tears fell down her cheeks as she stared into her lap. Without saying anything, Dean tied a bandage around her injured wrist before tying more gauze around her uninjured left wrist, protecting it from the rough metal.
He cleaned up the first aid kit and left without a word. It was a few minutes before Y/N realized he hadn’t re-manacled her right wrist.
All that day it felt as though a heavy stone sat in her stomach. She barely touched her breakfast (an egg and some sliced fried potatoes) and didn’t have a bite of lunch. She felt terrible wasting the food and insisted Patrick eat it. It tasted like ash to her and she simply couldn’t swallow. All she could think about was Emma and how she was hurting.
Her ability to compartmentalize her pain and fear was breaking down as worry and heartbreak took over everything. 
That evening, Dean showed up earlier than usual. He walked right up to her and, kneeling beside her, unlocked her other manacle so that she was free of the chains at last. She gave him a quizzical look.
“What are you doing?”
Dean shrugged. “It’s been nearly a week that you’ve been here and almost two weeks since you got bit.” His usual scowl was highlighted by confusion in his green gaze. “I don’t know what the hell is going on here, but it seems increasingly unlikely that you’re gonna start foaming at the mouth any time soon, so…”
He stood up and moved away, nodding to someone outside. Risa stepped through the door and behind her, holding her hand, was Emma.
Y/N gave out a loud cry of surprise, too many emotions flooding her at once to articulate any actual words. She tried to leap to her feet, but ended up stumbling back to her knees as Emma launched herself at her.
“Mommy!” Emma’s tears and sobs soon choked anymore words out of her as well. 
Y/N wrapped her daughter up tightly in her arms. “Oh, baby, baby!” She buried her face in her daughter's long hair, squeezing her too hard, she knew, but she couldn’t help it. She’d been so terrified she’d never get a chance to hold her again, so she savored the moment briefly before turning her head to where Dean was standing by the door.
Her throat was choked, but she pushed the words out. “Thank you. Thank you.” It was all she could say.
Dean didn’t respond and just walked out the door.

1st mezzanine sweep (could see both the orchestra + the singers excluding when they went in the audience at one point) + we were right next to the projector (cool!!!!) and some of the speakers (ouch)

i was so excitedly surprised to see the new visuals!!! they did a really great job combining the new origins cutscenes with gameplay and the timing was INCREDIBLE esp for a live show. infinite kudos and honestly i can appreciate them waiting two years to actually do this since the cutscenes really tied to first few medleys together
conductor absolutely CRUSHED IT dude was very understanding that the audience was going to be Losing It consistently and he made it work. so much love to that orchestra they did a stellar job and im so sad they’ll get overshadowed by the vocal parts (which. yeah obviously. but they did SUCH great work and the conductor did a great job directing the audiences applause to them)
felt bad they had to stop between every single medley for applause but such is life . also experiencing live audience reactions for stuff like the chemical plant zone drowning trap and amy being playable in the metal sonic race was amazing
enjoyed the sky sanctuary medley even though it took the place of the sonic 3k music overall, so much kudos to the video team that was SO cool (AND IT HAD THE FRONTIERS ANIMATED SPECIAL!!!!! YEAHHHH WIN FOR KNUCKLES FANS EVERYWHERE)
the believe in myself/it doesn’t matter one’s are always so sweet to me i love how they frame them using the cutscenes from each of their respective stories + the end card 🥺 now do that for everyone else’s themes!!!!!!!!!!
i’m definitely forgetting at least one bit in there but it was so delightful all around, the new arrangements were so fun, unleashed sweeps as always but one guy near me was SUPER passionate about aquarium park im glad he was happy. the frontiers medley ended w/ the new supersonic form and having not watched that trailer this was the BEST possible way to see that new content holy SHIT!!!!!!!!
intermission: that was the single most positive bathroom i’ve ever been in and i mean that in the least weird way possible. everyone was so so so excited and complimentary (ty to the person who liked my pins and whose fiancé liked the tails one. i like it a lot too :]) also kudos to the stunning wave cosplayer i saw she was killing it!!!!! molly whoever you were i hope you enjoyed the second half as much as i did

interesting structure too, compared to the order of the OG one in 2021 (which focused more on ramping up to the classics + live n learn at the end) this order bookended some of the less popular songs (reach for the stars and the new superstars theme particularly) with the BIG names
you should have heard how much people lost it when johnny said “you are… what i’m made of” i’m so proud of you sonic symphony audience. we are all sonic heroes appreciators

literally two minutes before the second half started i was telling my beloved friend i dragged along that all i needed to be happy was for them to have kept knight of the wind and it was the FOURTH SONG . WIN FOR JAY. 3 of my top fives within the first twenty mins of act 2. incredible
obviously escape from the city floored everyone. i think that got the most people singing but we were all already exhausted vocally it was very funny hearing what lines people mumbled. but it DID have the most call and response, with the biggest songs they would really just shut off the mics and let the audience sing a lot of lines it was so so fun
johnny took his leave from the stage (and complimented + thanked dave vives and also the fandom), said goodnight, and sometime around now tomoya ohtani was brought on (he deserved more applause and did eventually get it)
superstars theme was cool!!!! but right after city escape was funny bc . no one knows it. you go from most singable theme imaginable to everyone sitting as upright as possible and the half that wasn’t already recording to whip out their phones to capture it especially as they introduce it as “the first time this song has EVER played on this side of the ocean” lmao. hope you liked it london i’m glad you took us down a peg
his worrrrrrlddddd we all love it. we were all so tired. also we kept fumbling the lines bc we all like the zebra head version and rappings hard. i get it. video team did a fun job remixing the visuals for sonic + shadow + silver focus sections though it was really cool
reach for the stars really had people peetering out over the length partly bc we were all exhausted vocally and partly bc it’s sadly less iconic
i could not take fistbump seriously bc they had our beloved ian jr front and center for the whole video. it was glorious. they started w gadget for the opening bit and then bam ian jr everywhere. amazing . got a whole games worth of cutscenes with his beautiful face you did your creator (who was IN THE AUDIENCE) proud

it’s dead. it’s dead and gone . my hearing and also the ability to play sonic music it’s been forever changed . hearing those incredible songs from frontiers + a full live orchestra backing up the astounding vocals (HOW) was incredible. this is when i could feel the literal balcony shaking . my vocal chords are going to kill me tomorrow
obligatory “just one more” was undefeatable and ngl im so glad they did it second, the hype up with break through it all made it even better despite them going the opposite in the game . should have used the cooler going supersonic clip from the trailers rather in game though . no one is immune to undefeatable + the extending music video was crazy good
ANOTHER “one last one” in which johnny was called back on stage, pretended to not know what people were asking for/what he was supposed to sing, got the ENTIRE crowd yelling the name of the song, and then and he + kellin absolutely crushed live and learn

they showed the really funny still shot of shadow overlaid on the moon for the last shot of the video and i know it’s the actual ending but it lingered for like 15 seconds and i couldn’t stop laughing . they showed all the dialogue captions leading up to him dying so i though they were going to show him falling to earth but nah. stock render brain store ass pose

a couple literally got engaged in the lobby. one group started belting sonic underground on like the third floor of the stairway. it was incredible. the oscar’s could never top this ty dolby theaterrr
absolutely incredible all around . special shout out to: the people lowkey cosplaying while still in formalwear (woman in a beautiful white dress wearing a rouge hairpiece i salute you. guy in blue suit and guy in orange suit you’re amazing. woman in the fanciest amy rose dress i’ve ever seen im in love). the people with awesome t-shirts i am among your ranks we love a fandom with cool shirt designs. people in full on cosplay i am so so happy for all the diversity in characters i saw. the line for merch that stretched all the way back into the theater at the end: what was the theater staff doing that was bonkers. the people handing out stickers that i missed i Will be stalking your online stores. all the people in normal formal wear carrying their plushies? amazing. the world is beautiful. goodnight everyone

Jihyo sat on the couch in the living room of their shared dorm, flipping through a magazine absentmindedly. She had just finished a long day of rehearsals with TWICE, and all she wanted to do was relax and unwind. The door creaked open, and she looked up to see Y/n, the youngest member of the group and her kid, entering the room. As she closed the door she greeted her with a smile, setting her bag down on the floor.
Y/N - Hey, Jihyo unnie! How was your day?
Jihyo returned the smile, her eyes crinkling at the corners with a motherly look. 
Jihyo - It was good, honey. Just a bit tiring. How about you?
The maknae plopped down next to Jihyo, her eyes shining with excitement. 
Y/N - Guess what, unnie? I wrote a song!
Jihyo's interest was piqued. 
Jihyo - Really? That's amazing, baby! What's it about?
TWICE's angel took a deep breath, her hands fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. 
Y/N - Well, it's about you, actually. You see, unnie, you've always been like a mother figure to me. Whenever I'm feeling down or stressed, you're always there to comfort me and support me. So, I wrote a song to express my gratitude and love for you mama.
Jihyo felt her heart swell with affection for the younger girl. She had always been precious to the leader, and knowing that she held such a special place in her child's heart made her feel incredibly grateful. 
Jihyo - That's so sweet, lovebug. I can't wait to hear it.
With that in mind, the youngest reached into her bag and pulled out a notebook. Flipping through the pages, she found the one she was looking for and handed it to Jihyo. 
Y/N - Here, I wrote down the lyrics for the song, I want to name it Feel Special. I hope you like it!
Jihyo took the notebook and began to read. As she absorbed the words on the page, she felt tears welling up in her eyes. Y/n's heartfelt lyrics beautifully captured the deep bond they shared and the unwavering support she had received from Jihyo throughout their time together. Once Jihyo finished reading, she looked up at the girl she had the pleasure of hearing call her mama, her voice choked with emotion as she tried to make her know what she was feeling. 
Jihyo - Sweetie, this is... this is incredible. I can't believe you wrote this for me. Thank you so much.
Y/n blushed, her cheeks turning a rosy shade of pink. 
Y/N - It's the least I could do, mama. You mean the world to me, and I wanted to show you how much I appreciate everything you've done for me.
Jihyo gently placed a hand on the maknae's knee, her tone displaying the love she only gave to her members. 
Jihyo - My cute girl, you don't know how much this means to me. You've always been like a little sister to me, and seeing you grow and become such an amazing person has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
TWICE's sunshine's eyes shimmered with tears as she reached out to hug Jihyo tightly. 
Y/N - Thank you, unnie. I'm so lucky to have you in my life.
Jihyo held her baby close as she spoke with a voice soft and full of warmth. 
Jihyo - No, love. It's me who's lucky to have you. You bring so much joy and happiness to our group, and I couldn't imagine TWICE without you. You're an amazing songwriter, bae, and an incredible person. Keep stimulating your talent, and I have no doubt that you'll continue to touch the hearts of many with your music.
The youngest's eyes glistened with tears of joy, and she hugged Jihyo tightly once again. 
Y/N - Thank you, unnie. Your words mean everything to me.
The two of them sat there, basking in the warmth of their connection. Jihyo couldn't help but feel proud of her child's growth and the beautiful person she had become. They had formed a bond that extended beyond their roles in TWICE, a bond that transcended music and touched their souls. In the following days, Y/n's song, titled Feel Special, became a beloved track among TWICE's fans and the other members. It resonated with many, not just because of its catchy melody, but because it embodied the deep appreciation and love the members had for one another. Jihyo continued to be a guiding presence in Y/n's life, offering help, encouragement, and maternal affection. The first full US tour we did, back in 2017 — Free Throw’s “Bear Your Mind” tour.
It was our first time playing basically all of these cities. All at 200-500 ish capacity rooms.
In the first week of the tour, Free Throw bought us all an Airbnb in the woods of Wisconsin so we could all hang, grill out, and get to know each other more. That night was a wildly unhinged night and crazy to watch as a sober person.
We had just released The Manson Family a couple months prior, and we were so excited to be playing in front of anyone at all; whether it was a couple dozen people, or a couple hundred people. I was hellbent on making the best, most memorable impression we could, going so far as to even have The Manson Family neon sign onstage with us, as well as a Heart Attack Man neon sign to match. The signs got smashed at our Houston show (we couldn’t afford hard cases for them, so we were transporting them in styrofoam boxes) so on the day off between Houston and Atlanta, I somehow managed to track down a neon sign artist in New Orleans after not sleeping for the night and he graciously fit us into his busy schedule to repair them that day.
We were making barely any money as is and only selling a few shirts and records a night. We were sleeping in the van and living off of instant ramen noodles and the Taco Bell dollar menu. There were some nights where I even asked the audience if anyone could let us stay at their place. This led to some very interesting situations—one night an extremely drunk but nonetheless hospitable couple forced me, Adam, and Ty to sleep in their bed while they both slept on the couch and watched Moana at full volume.
It was a struggle, but it was a very special, exciting, and eye-opening time for us. The fact that we played Los Angeles for our first time and there were like 5 people singing along was incredibly exciting.
Mom Jeans joined us on the West Coast leg of this tour too—to my knowledge, it was their first support tour.
We’ve grown a lot as a band; enough to where we can headline our own shows now; and while our growth/all the tours we’ve done since have been incredibly fun and exciting, the summer of 2017 was truly one of the most adventurous and best times of my life so far. It was all so new and the beginning of something amazing.
The fact that our first headlining tour earlier this year was Arm’s Length and Blood Root’s first full US tours as well was very rewarding to be able to provide that kind of experience for other bands.
Touring is not easy, but the relentless grind has made the high moments even more gratifying. Going on tour, pouring my heart out night after night, sleeping irregularly, being physically exhausted, in close quarters with my best friends has taught me unique life lessons I wouldn’t learn any other way, and has put it all into a perspective that’s hard to really fully quantify. Some days are very hard and some days I don’t feel 100% myself, but I don’t take a second of any of this for granted.
Living this life is exactly what I wanted when I was a little kid just starting to play music.
If I could go back and experience the summer of 2017 all over again I would in a heartbeat.

A year or two ago there was a post asking for Sokkla headcanons going around, and so I'm finally making a master post of my own Sokkla Headcanons, divorced from the older post.
Azula pretends to hate the cold but being a prodigious Firebender she can lower and raise her body temperature to compensate. Sokka discovers this their first night in the South Pole as she becomes his personal space heater by accident and she strangely doesn’t mind as it means more cuddles.
This also works with keeping bathwater warm longer. Sokka frequently loses track of time when they bathe together as she keeps the water just as warm as it was in the beginning.
Sokka and Azula both being strategic and tactical geniuses, frequently play Pai Sho together. And are at such a level that Uncle Iroh is often left in awe when he watches them play. Anytime he’s challenged one of them he’s swiftly defeated and despite the loss, he’s ecstatic. Most Pai Sho players utilize a basic strategy(such as The White Lotus Gambit for the OWL members) but Sokka and Azula realize the weakness in that and rarely use the same strategy twice.
After the war, Sokka went back to Piandao and trained for several more months, and then trained with Mai to get better with throwing weapons, and then Ty Lee on how to Chi Block and to become more agile. This leaves him a very dangerous and skilled nonbender and he and Azula spar together several times a week. The Royal Guard and even Zuko watch on in awe.
Azula had never had a reason to use weapons as she was always strong with her bending unlike Zuzu, but since dating Sokka she took an interest in it, and she’s a warrior through and through. Sokka is amazed at how quickly she picks it up.
Azula is incredibly proud of Sokka’s creativity and inventions and often helps give him ideas, oftentimes not even meaning too. She also helps him name his inventions as she finds his naming scheme awful.
This one can be a before they started dating/helped them grow closer, but as they both serve as Zuko’s Chief Advisors, they come up with groundbreaking ideas together and often improve the other's ideas with something the other hadn’t even thought of. This has led to some amazing policy and change in the Fire Nation and has helped immensely with their Foreign relations.
Azula will never openly admit it but she loves food almost as much as Sokka and has introduced him to some of the Fire Nations' most delicious dishes that he hadn’t tried.
Azula is awful at doing her hair herself, so Sokka does it for her and gets her to experiment with other styles(keeping her trademark bangs ofc) and she is surprised about it. When she asks him why he's so good at it he tells her about how after their mother was killed someone had to help Katara with her hair.
This one is more Canon than HC, but I largely disregard the comics. But Azula loves her Mochi. Anytime she's feeling down Sokka gets the Palace kitchen to make her some and he gets her an assortment of Mochi for her birthdays.
One of the things Azula started doing after being released from the Mental Institute is painting. It's a form of therapy and helps her a lot. She was never allowed to have hobbies under Ozai and is finally free to explore herself. When she learns that Sokka also paints she's surprised. When she sees some of his works, including a giant painting that takes up almost a whole wall, of the Moon reflecting off a body of water(the giant wall painting is from @madamezuki Blood & Fire but it's so good I like it as well and just integrated it into my HC's and scenarios). His work leaves her speechless and she's surprised he's so skilled. They spend time in the palace gardens painting together.
Azula and Sokka being the extremely intelligent individuals they both are, love reading. History, arts, sciences. It doesn't matter. They spend a ton of time together in the libraries in either palace or his loft library in his penthouse reading together.

The first time he sees you, he’s in awe. In his life, he’s had to keep to himself, keep his head down, and keep walking, just so he can make it through another day. But you challenge every single one of his instincts: when you mistakenly bump into him in the hallway, he wants to stare; when you immediately apologize and start picking up the textbooks he’d been balancing, he wants to tell you no, he should have been watching where he was going, he wants to offer to walk you to your room, or take you to lunch. But he doesn’t, because he’d just end up making a fool of himself, and instead he watches you walk away with little more than a nod.
And then you walk into his room. Fate must be incredibly cruel, he thinks, because by then he’s resigned himself to believing everyone at the academy is either rude or downright horrid. He doesn’t miss the sadness in your face when he immediately marches you down to the housing office to get rid of you, nor does he miss the scolding tone you take when he accidentally insinuates the desk clerk is at fault. But there’s nothing anyone can do, and he’s stuck with you as a roommate - you, with all your sweet smiles and kind words and smart mind and pretty face and-
He does his best to push you away - push away the stupid, mushy thoughts he has about you- and tries his hardest to lump you in with every other rich jerk that attends the school. He pretends not to notice the way you start avoiding him, the way you stop trying to make conversation; he pretends not to notice the clatter in the restroom when you trip for the umpteenth time on one of the towels he’s left behind. He tries, and tries, to make an absolute menace of himself, because at least then, you would hate him. 
Because if you liked him, then he might just hope for too much.
But it all comes to a breaking point a couple weeks in; a storm brewing throughout the day, that hits land in the dead of the night. He’s awake when it happens, when the world goes silent and holds its breath for a couple seconds before unleashing a violent downpour on the city. He’s amazed that you’re able to sleep through it, curled up on the little couch across the room. But then you sit upright as thunder shakes the room, and in the next flash of light, he can see the fear in your wide eyes; it doesn’t suit you. He decides, then, that it’s childish to torment you so, and again, when you rush to his side to hide. Even if it would mean his downfall, he wants to be the person you come to when you’re scared.

What's the worst game you've ever played?
it is hard to really gauge what the worst game I've ever played was, but there are definitely some games I consider to genuinely be bad. none of them are really all that interesting takes so don't expect much
persona 5 - I really, really dislike this game and genuinely think its game design is bad. visually it's amazing, but they lock game changing mechanics like party switching behind social links that I just had no interest in doing, and no one should be punished that hard for not doing optional content. horrible game design. also the story bored me to tears. the villain is so half-assed and character assassinated in the later half of the game that I felt insulted that they took so much time from me. the only redeeming quality of that game is its aesthetics, soundtrack and some of the characters, otherwise it's mediocre garbage and there are so many better RPGs to play. also persona 3 clears it
genshin impact - I don't hate it because it's anime or because it's gacha and I played it from launch all the way until the second half of inazuma when they released itto, but the way they handle content in that game is horrible. the units they released had horrendous kits overshadowed by whoever was running the meta. the hype for new units was completely gone, and building your team was fucking miserable because you need to gather bugs for 3 hours which also take 48+ real life hours to respawn. also everyone in that game is fucking white and its so annoying and I fucking hate it
the peak of my enjoyment out of genshin impact was liyue as a whole since it was actually a beautiful area with some slight amount of authenticity to traditional chinese culture, language, and topography. but the story of the game is so unbelievably fucking boring, the gameplay is not interesting, the new characters end up sucking and it's just a ridiculously unfun timesink. fuck genshin impact
maplestory - i have nothing to say about it. just trust me
yakuza 3 - holy shit I have never been more unsatisfied with the gameplay and story of a yakuza game. this actually made me want to drop the series entirely because I didn't find it fun or interesting whatsoever, the game is incredibly unbalanced, combat is so clunky and gross, the only saving grace is that okinawa is cool to look at. i didn't do any of the side stories because I just did not enjoy the gameplay, I finished this game and felt exhausted when I was done with it. the yakuza series is deeply deeply worth it, but please play this on the lowest difficulty and just bumrush the story.
tloz: wind waker - one of my hotter takes is that wind waker really isn't that good, admittedly I did play the gamecube version but what the wii u version changed doesn't completely turn it into a good game. my biggest issue with this game is that the overworld is genuinely empty and exploration feels pointless since the only side content you can do has unsatisfying rewards that don't make the game much better. the hint system they use for that game is fucking stupid, dungeon design takes a nosedive after the first 2 dungeons, items you get in dungeons have next to no use outside of those dungeons, and the final sequence being a boss gauntlet is one of the laziest cop-outs for the zelda series. I desperately wanted to like the game, so I played it 1 and a half times and that was enough to tell me that it wasn't that good.
ty the tasmanian tiger - i really wanted to love this game! but the level design got lazy and became a slog trying to collect everything, the boss design was very much not interesting and it just really couldn't hold my attention. I've gone back to this game 3 different times trying to see if I'd change my opinion but I play through half of the game and just end up realizing I don't like it and don't want to play it. it's just kind of sad
paper mario 64 - I won't call it one of the worst games I've played, but it's on this list because I beat the game and realized I didn't have any fun. the combat is really basic and boring, some of the areas are just kind of boring, it just felt really boring. the final battle? boring. there is nothing interesting about this game and I had more fun playing the randomizer than the actual game
tsukihime - this is not a game. this is a visual novel, but it's on the list because I genuinely fucking hate this game. it has the worst most annoying protagonist inner monologue ever, I liked the characters in it because of Melty Blood and ended up hating most of them by the time I finished tsukihime. I WILL be replaying it once the official english version of the remake drops in which case I will type a much longer winded review of it but I don't think anyone who likes tsukihime read it, or if they did and still like it, are not a good person. "just because they like the media doesn't mean they approve of it" cool don't care shiki tohno is a dogshit protagonist and wants to bang his sister bye
thats just scratching the surface and its just off the top of my head, other honorable mentions include final fantasy 15, final fantasy 10, glover, dragon ball z legacy of goku, super metroid (will not elaborate)

As promised here’s my ask/revue of chapter 29. And to preface, the was amazing.
I read and enjoyed the last chapter. (29) Plus getting a glimpse into a conflicted Katara who is jealous but also doesn’t want her friend(s) ending up hurt was great to read. And have I mentioned that I love jealous Katara who wants Azula all to herself? Cause I love jealous Katara who wants Azula all to herself.
“Obviously, Katara felt terrible for even thinking about hooking up with Azula during this sensitive drama, but her heart had no way of denying what she wanted” - I admit I started smirking at this line. Odviosily I want best girls to get together, the road to get there (despite being bumpy at times) is also just so incredibly satisfying. I swear Azutara slow burn is one of the best things in this world. Though some times Azutara getting together quickly is also satisfying. Like in Juniperhill “The dievil you know”. Perhaps it’s a contradiction to like both, but I own to that. Azutara dynamics are just the gods gift to the world.
I also especially loved the moment were Zirin is complaining that Azula is talking Katara, Yue, and Suki a bit too much. And when Azula took her sarcastic remark as a good ahead to talk about the love (and lusts) of her life made me burst out laughing.
I laughter even harder when Zirin spells out what was wrong, accosted Azula about being too obsessed with Katara, Yue, and Suki (and Kya the budding Pai Sho Genius!) and stormed off. And Azula still didn’t know what the fuck she talking about!
Yes Azula do be honest with yourself. Katara is your preferred option every time. Please continue the introspection when Sober and hungover in the morning. Maybe you preferring Katara over anyone else has something to do with Zirin throwing wine in your face?
I smirked when exasperated Katara got out of bed to pick up drunk Azula.
Yue wanting to help Suki with her foster sister was really sweet. Kya wanting to burn the gifts is sad, but eerily reminiscent of Azula herself. It also reminds of the last chapter, which was amazing (as always) but also depressing. And I’m adult enough to admit that I was bawling in time with Kya and Azula in the last chapter.
Of course Azula found a bowling alley despite being drunk of her ass. Best girl is just that person ain’t she? Except when it comes to bowling itself, cause other best girls got her beat. Speaking of that I’m sure the tongue lashing that Katara gave was one for the history books. With Azula probably think of bowling alleys and how pretty Katara’s eyes are in the night, the whole time. Oh! And throwing up on her bowling ball.
Azutara adventure ending with peaceful walk in the night and violence against an unwanted pervert? Sign me up.
“Who knows," Katara laughed, looking like she was really enjoying herself”. My cheeks are starting to hurt after grinning so much this chapter.
Azula and Katara’s little conversation in the end was very sweet. Azula being determined to get Hakoda to the Fire Nation so that she could 1 see how her interacts with his children, and 2 see Katara’s smile as being reunited with the father she misses was adorable. As was Katara and Azula’s talk about having a “regular” sleep over. And the mental image of Katara tucking Azula in, or cuddling with her.
I’m glad Ty Lee wasn’t involved in the Blue spirits orgy. Sokka doesn’t deserve to be done like that. Though Mai being engaged to Roun Jan is bound to bring interesting happenings… also Mai is absolutely right. Zuko is a hypocrite that lacks introspection.
This chapter was awesome, and I loved all the sweet Azutara moments! I’m also glad for Suki/Yue. Both pairings deserve to be with someone who will love them wholly and utterly. Know we only need for Azula to get her out of ditch… easier said than done I bet! Can’t wait for the next update!

Indeed, we love jealous Katara. I think especially because Katara being such a sweet person, would feel very guilty for the way jealousy makes her feel, and I just love that kind of internal conflict for a character.
interesting that you would mention the Azutara dynamics and slow vs quick burn, because @juniperhillpatient and I were just talking about that recently, and coming away with the conclusion that it really depends on the circumstances in which we place our characters. sometimes driven by codependency they will come together very quickly, and sometimes when there's less pressure on them, slow burn makes a lot of sense. these girls are very versatile about their dynamics. <3
I always love it when a totally self-unaware Azula is gushing about her crushes. It's just something that fits her so well. :)
Yes, the drama with Azula, Yue and Kya was intended to be a bit of a tear-jerker, I'm afraid! Too bad for Kya, because she'll have to wait for another parental figure a little longer, but at least we're on the right track now that Suki and Yue are starting to bond more closely. Also, I'm sure she'll eventually have a lot of fun with all those expensive gifts.
I think with how tipsy Azula was, Katara yelling at her was pretty ineffective, so Katara probably didn't waste too much of her energy there. ;) But like... I just wanted them to spend some time together where their interactions weren't overwhelmingly dominated by lust. It felt important to show that they also work together very well on the level of friendship. Of course, the attraction is pretty obvious anyway. You can see that in how sweet they are with each other. ;)
Oh don't worry, Ty Lee might be a bit airheaded in this story, but she wouldn't cheat on Sokka. Also, I'm sure Mai is going to break off her engagement as soon as she slaps Ruon Jian awake XD and yup, I'm pretty sure Zuko will hypocritically throw a tantrum when he hears about the orgy
I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter, and seeing some of the building blocks for more serious Azutara and Yueki relationships further down the road :) but I'm enjoying taking my time with it, so the slowburns will continue for some time still!

Ok ok I read chapter 10 last night and just wanted to gush for a moment
The entire fic is just so incredibly well written. From the first couple chapters, I knew I would love it, and before even the halfway mark it had risen to one of my top five favorite fics of all time. The premise at all is so cool, and with the pacing of each chapter and the occasional cliffhangers at the end of them, it really sticks in your mind and leaves you anticipating the next update.
Your characterization is brilliant and fun to read start to finish, with unique details that set your interpretation of especially the main cast apart enough to be distinctive to you while also staying true to the characters we all know and love. I’m especially a fan of how you’ve written Pearl, and all the dialogue and interactions flow well and hit you with the emotion you’re supposed to be feeling, especially in the last chapter. Along with the characters themselves, your world building is also amazing, and adds vibrancy and life to preexisting universes in a very immersive sort of way, where you’re not going for completely realistic (it is Minecraft, after all), but you adhere to the rules of this universe and write it convincingly. You feel like you’re right there next to it all.
And the story itself! I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it, but each puzzle piece that falls into place, each big realization in what’s really going on makes me want to chew at the walls in the best way. Overall, Dramaturgy is a wonderful story with an interesting idea executed really well, and I’m glad I got to spend 130k+ words in this world, thank you <3

My review (slight spoilers):
Before watching The Whale, I had set some expectations that were only half met. My expectation for amazing acting fully came through, with an incredible comeback by Brendan Fraser that is absolutely worth the hype. But rather than my expected heart-warming goodbye story, it was very dark and cold most of the time. It was a great one-location film that wasn’t easy to watch but I still highly recommend it.
The story portrays the evils of depression and the addiction it leads up to and it is heartbreaking beginning to end. Even more so are the moments between Charlie (Brendan Fraser) and Ellie (Sadie Sink). Since I expected something more heart-warming, their toxic dynamic came as a great shock, especially as it just kept going. Whenever Ellie would reject Charlie’s advances to get to know her, something in Brendan Fraser’s facial expression would be so touchingly painful, I couldn’t help but feel so much for his character. He could act with his eyes alone which makes his performance worthy of that Oscar nomination. Ellie’s character isn’t easy to act out either as she is very conflicted, and it really showed Sadie Sink is a young actor to watch. The final scene became that much more heartbreaking after everything that was said and done between them both, I’m glad I wore waterproof makeup to the theatre.
Great acting isn’t just found between those two but with the whole cast, which consists of a pretty small number. The most outstanding performance to me was that of Liz (Hong Chau). I daresay she might have been my favourite supporting actress of the entirety of that year. Whenever she was on screen, my eyes were on her and the perfect way she delivered each and every line. The chemistry between her and Fraser on-screen was beautiful and if the film had been just about the two of them, it would already have been amazing.
I’m glad Charlie’s homosexuality was established early on because it made the references to queer literature (Moby-Dick, Song of Myself) a lot more valuable. As a literature student, it added more layers and points of interest to the story and makes me appreciate the writing more, even though it isn’t incredibly subtle.
The Whale is heartbreaking but with Charlie’s naturally positive personality, it still held on to some heart-warming moments and was surprisingly uplifting and empowering at times. Needless to say, its topics of death, depression and eating disorders are all quite triggering so it feels vital to be in the right headspace to watch. An incredible comeback that makes me excited for anything with Brendan Fraser and the rest of the cast in the future!

Alright this is my THIRD time relistening to 5.1, lets dump ALL my thoughts then:
-first of all, one of the best opening story sequences. I love when unwell does this framing, and it is always well done. "We may be going home soon" is a line that disturbs the shit out of me, and once again unwell's sound design is absolutely incredible with all that the dogs do. I do also want to see silas get his teeth punched out.
-i could talk for hours about chester this episode. But i just want to say both the writing and pat kings performance were perfect for him. The way he aporoaches the house practicing what to say, and specifically stumbling through all their namea, then is immediately thrown off by the house being casual is so comedic and him. I really want to know how pat king manages to sound that pathetic, its amazing. Hes also amazing later in the episode where hes freaking out over norah and wes.
-"come in!" "Mrs. Harper? Its me? Chester Warren?" "What of me yelling come in didnt you understand?" The way the cast acts is so fhdjsjjdjdbsjs seeing dot tentatively accept chester is so nice, while she still keeps bullying him a bit throughout the episode. Its such a good dynamic on full display.
-abbie is a bastard. Its perfect.
-"lily-an"
-"i can eavesdrop from here!" "Tell him to speak up!" AND THEN CHESTER ACTUALLY TALKING LOUDER IS FHDJDKSKNFNDA. Once again character dynamics are shining this entire episode, and having chester play the straight man to their antics is a good role for him.
-"i dont know how to proceed!" Have you ever met a man so pathetic-
-chester is a 24/7 mental breakdown at this point. Yeah this is what i wanted from season 5.
-i should write a fic where chester reads rudys will and all that-
-When you arent exactly a found family because you fell apart and didnt know each other long enough but in the end your the only person left to stand over their body-
-Abbie getting their character development shown off this ENTIRE EPISODE we're so proud of them learning to handle their own emotions.
-also lily WES IS A KID TF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???? Like yeah hes a ghost but come on. Tinee.
-chester refusing to enter the house is such a good character detail. My guy needs help.
-and now we're at the norah scene where she needs SO MUCH THERAPY
-once again applause for the sound design making Norahs voice have an interesting echo that isnt distracting!
-dot immediately asking Norah to stay there in rudys room absolutely made me and my friend start screaming at her. Im glad it turned out well but we both kind of just had a spittake
-btw dot actually sticking to joking about norah being her daughter is cute and hilarious. Like yee girl you got found familied
-wes being the only one to grive the way chester knows how to handle is so fucking funny to me actually-
-now this is the point of the episode for me that i freak out for. Chester not remembering ghosts or wes. I have a lot of general thoughts about this episode regarding it and 4.12s status, but i will say this specific scene mightve been good to include at the start of the new season rather than the end of last because i genuinely dont remember if wes and chester know each other. Im sure they should, and im sure chester does know about ghosts, but its been months since i heard the last few episodes, so i start to question my own knowledge. Its so unsettling and uncomfortable and i think seems like a good point of tying an audience effect to the plot. Like, its good metatextualy. And if im completely wrong and chester wasnt meant to know these things then. Idk. Bully me in my askbox
-regardless, once again im applauding pat king for the best, most pathetic performance ive ever seen
-chester and abbie getting into a theological debate is the type of content i need while im being forced to take a terrible theology class
-the mugs as a joke in this episode are goddamn hilarious. Its also nice how they manage to make some history with it, despite the audience not seeing it, its more in the little things of dot and lily joing its bc "shes fancy" in such a way it feels like they both know the joke. Its nice. Also wes getting fenwood house!!!!
-the way they manage to audibly convey dot walking over, snatching the alcohol of chesters hand, and drowning it is fucking skillfull and hilarious
-lily and norah getting the final mourning scene broke me. Norah crying broke me. I have nothing really to say about that scene other than it was good and made me wanna cry.
-the rain beginning is terrifying me. I am so ready for this season i am so hyped.
-FINAL THOUGHTS:
- if i could start season 5 in any way, it would be like this. This is all i wanted and more. The character dynamics and cast performances that (for me) are the pinnacle of unwell are on full display, its acknowledging a life changing event from the last season, and everything that happens in the episode is incredibly gripping on a character level
-the episode i think masterfully balances both a tone of mourning and humor, often getting into some darkly humorous places, and seems to be a concerted effort by the entire team to balance it. The writing, acting, design, all really make this tone work.
-can i keep mentioning the acting? The actors are incredible
-i get the feeling this might be chesters last appearance. I dont want it to be, but this feels like it could also be a send off to his character, and i wouldnt blame the writers if they did so, just so they had a smaller cast to focus on in the finale. I hope chester returns though, hes somehow become a bright spot in the show for me, and i blame his actor
-im also very concerned for what will happen to lily this season. Shes definitely struggling a lot with guilt, and i dont think shes going to be making the best choices. Regardless, i love her and norahs friendship, and she and chester also got a weird friendship that i think should lead the two to try to kill silas together.
-for my final thoughts, i deleted what i wrote about this and 4.12, but to summarize, i just hope the writers didnt feel pressured to write this episode, but that this episode serves as a good leadin to the rest of the season.
-i loved this episode, and it has already become one of my favorite. Unwell season 5 is delivering!

OMG YOUR TAKE AND DEPICTION OF SEPHIROTH IS PHENOMENAL 😭 It really, really, is, and something so incredibly unique from anything anyone else can do. You do the most important thing that can be done to a villain- humanize him ;-; And every element of that is tapped into: his insecurities, his interests, his wants, and his awareness of how little/how much control he has of his life. You explore the genuine extent of ShinRa’s hold on him, and all the ways that his perceptions are warped bc of it- and yet at the same time, his personality was crafted to be so rich that ShinRa couldn’t gouge it out completely. He’s his own person with his own longings. A human being. And in the core of all that humanity, is fear.
You make everything have a purpose, make everything in his life affect him in one way or another, thread by thread, ever since Gast. You portray his unwavering attachment to Genesis & Angeal in such a beautiful light ;-; Their entire friendship is so incredibly natural, and unlike the GAME, you show us how much they care for each other. How much they love each other- and most importantly, unlike the GAME, how much Angeal & Genesis cared about Seph. They take him, they break his walls, and they feed him pasta (his favorite!!!! Omg I still melt at the entire scene <33). But then, because the foundation is so strong, because Seph finally feels safe… his world really is shattered when the rug is pulled. And he’s never really fixed. He’s gradually breaking, and he’s tired- but he still has ShinRa. And he pushes on. And he wears himself out more. It is devastating and natural, and we’re sitting here watching this car crash in slow motion and being absolutely helpless about it ;-; You make heartbreak unbearable, and it’s beautiful pain ;-; ;-;
By the time he reaches Nibelheim, and Genesis drives in the knife, his collapse makes sense. We saw him beaten again and again and again, and how he struggled to stay afloat, and how he couldn’t tread anymore. He just… wanted to be wanted- and Jenova was there ;-; And it is clear that she was there from the very, very beginning; the hallucinations woven in are terrifying, and real, and accentuates how Sephiroth never really had control- he was an experiment and the consequences of that are never forgotten ;-; The entire library scene was… omg… I don’t even know- just masterful ;-; The culmination of everything- and it really is insanity. It feels like insanity. The perfect, horrifying blend of Jenova locking her chains and Sephiroth’s own emotions making implode ;-; His interactions with mommy dearest are chilling, terrifying, so twisted- monstrous. The threads have woven themselves into something unrecognizable. A villain. The Sephiroth from FF7. And in the end, Sephiroth finds peace plunging to his death, because he would rather be that ;-; The fic is amazing- beyond amazing- and I’m so, so, so glad it was written <333 There is SO much heart and love for Sephiroth poured into it, and it shows, and it is powerful. I will always cherish it as one of my favorite remotely Sephiroth-related things out there. TY for writing it <333

I actually have been fortunate enough to be gifted a fic before! It’s called Rise and Fall (Raise and Fold) by the beyond incredible @thunderthigherteru-blog, and man do I love it to pieces. Basic premise is that poor Sephiroth gets bonked in the head a little too hard in the ShinRa manor and oopsie poopsie now he thinks he’s a child again. Fun times!!! (Ty again, Teru! <3)
However! To address the actual question! If I was lucky enough to receive another fic, I’d be a shameless, squealing puddle of goop if it had anything to do with, well… Zack & Sephiroth overcoming Nibelheim together x,D (SHOCKER I KNOW). There are few things I like more in this world than these two’s friendship being stronger than mumsy Jenova’s influence. Like very few xDD While there are definitely a myriad of amazing fics where Jenova gets taken to the cleaners, very few home in on that sweet POWER OF FRIENDSHIP (*electric guitar riff*) side of things. I completely understand why it’s such a rarity as a lot of factors have to line up lmao—including Zack & Sephiroth being that close in the story. But if those factors are there…. oh man I would devour it xDD

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
This is another one of my full series reviews! As such, there are spoilers for the books scattered around in here, so proceed at your own risk!
The Lightning Thief 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
This book is the blueprint. Seeing or hearing the phrase "Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood" makes me froth at the mouth. This is the perfect introduction to the series; it sets the tone, introduces the basic worldbuiding, and builds up some amazing characters. This goes for all the books, but Percy is an incredibly likable protagonist that still has his flaws. His introduction is amazing, and we know from the start that he's a struggling kid that tries his best and comes to find himself as a demigod. The Lightning Thief is only the first book, but it has a great plot twist that has a ton of impact on the rest of the series, plotwise and emotionally. It's one of the best first books I've ever read, resolving things while still having that overarching plot to continue off of.

The second book is generally considered the weakest of the series. Don't get me wrong, it's still an absolutely amazing book, but compared to the others it is missing thing. My theory is that it doesn't contribute as much as the other books to the grand scheme of things. The biggest development is at the very end; the rest of the story is interesting but ultimately unimportant when it comes to tying into the other books. However, it does introduce Tyson, an amazing character, and it establishes the empathy link. I just think that if there were any of this series that didn't quite meet the standards for a 10 it would be this one.
The Titan's Curse 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
Ok, this one is my personal favorite. There are so many developments in this book. We get to know Thalia, we meet characters like Nico, Blackjack, Bianca, and the Hunters, and the relationship between Percy and Annabeth develops a lot. This is also the turning point of the series where things get a lot darker. In this book, we have the first death of a major character, and it's done very well. The characters react accordingly, there's fallout after the fact, and Percy in particular has a lot of survivor's guilt. It's done in a way that keeps it appropriate for the target age group while still imparting the gravity of the situation. We also get to see Percy in a more authoritative position. Up until this point, he's been the one receiving orders and being cared for, but his interactions with Nico in particular put him in a position of authority that he's going to be expected to fill more and more.
The Battle of the Labyrinth 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
I think this book is the best for the side characters. Annabeth and Grover in particular really get to shine. Annabeth finally gets her own quest in the labyrinth while Grover is continuing his search for Pan. Other than The Lightning Thief, this book might have the most worldbuilding in it. The labyrinth is a great tool for seeing new pockets of mythology in the US that have previously gone unnoticed. Also, this is one of the most comedic books in that Percy interacted with no less than four people who had crushes on him and had no idea. Going back to the side characters, Nico and Rachel got some amazing development, and while you'll know something's up with Quintus, I doubt you'll be able to guess what it is (I actually totally forgot about it so I got to be surprised all over again). Also, Mrs. O'Leary my beloved.

I have read this series multiple times, but I was still grinning like an idiot the last twenty pages of this book. This is an amazing conclusion to the series! It's suitably grand, a battle with very high stakes, and the character development is top notch. Percy finally feels secure and content, Annabeth's family issues, biological and found, are resolved, Grover has a plan for his future, and Luke is... there. Sorry, I hate Luke. It also does a really good job of setting up the sequel series without detracting from the finale. The perfect end to a near perfect series!
