gortash interfering with press freedom.jpg
Noteworthy to me:
it took at least a TENDAY to print all the Gort posters around the city
he hired a Banite as an official aide (obviously) (Ulova's the Black Gauntlet up in his office)
Ettvard is reeking of Banite too (I see you, "yours faithfully")
he didn't even send this protest
a Gortash signing his name just "G" is an angry Gortash (see the "inappropriate tone" Ketheric letter)

Books I've read/on my TBR that I think TGS Jekyll would enjoy:
The Wayward Children Series by Seanan McGuire - I think the series would heal his inner child, also, there's a character who's apprenticed to a Frankenstein inspired scientist, so absolute bonus!
The Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White - Victorian Era, autistic trans boy with a special interest in surgery? He loves it (even moreso if you headcanon him as a trans man, which I love and need to see/write more of:) )
The Uncensored Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde - The even gayer version, I need not say more.
A Clash of Steel by C.B. Lee - Treasure Island retelling, plus, in a old piece of art from Sage's asks about Jekyll's favorite books, he's shown with Treasure Island. I can see him really enjoying it!
Honestly? The entire Remixed Classics series, I'll list them below the cut in order. Specifically, I think he'd enjoy Self-Made Boys by Anna-Marie McLemore (TFT Gatsby and Nick) and Most Ardently by Gabe Cole Novoa (Gay Darcy and Trans man second eldest Bennet child named Oliver) Queer young men entering a different, and higher, society and another also queer young man they fall in love with helping them navigate it.
Remixed Classics:
A Clash of Steel C.B. Lee - Treasure Island
So Many Beginnings by Bethany C. Morrow - Little Women
Travelers Along the Way by Aminah Mae Safi - Robin Hood
What Souls are Made of by Tasha Suri - Wuthering Heights
Self-Made Boys by Anna-Marie McLemore - The Great Gatsby
My Dear Henry by Kalynn Bayron - Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Teach the Torches to Burn by Caleb Roehrig - Romeo and Juliet
Into the Bright Open by Cherie Dimaline - The Secret Garden
Most Ardently by Gabe Cole Novoa - Pride and Prejudice

are they even trying to teach kids how to properly type anymore or?? the girl i nanny, who is going into 7th, was literally shocked by how fast i type. i type maybe a bit above the average person because i like to write, but in general most people my age can type around my speed whatever the fuck it is. no long pausing over any keys, maybe a few stops if i mistype, etc etc very normal typing patterns. but this girl literally cannot type, she refuses to learn the home row which is one of her main problems, and she told me they stopped giving typing classes/didn't do many in elementary. are schools just assuming kids have access to tech at home and so "obviously" every kid needs like three offhand lessons and if you send them home to do typing games they'll magically learn how to type accurately and quickly? because...no. this girl loves typing games and whatnot, but she does them incorrectly with her hand placements and often has to look up and down between her screen and keyboard, and she finds this very normal and her friends are similar. is it just a school district thing bc yikes if more kids are being brushed aside for proper computer lessons just because having tech is more common and teachers just assume kids "already know" things.

Also, how much more vast would Tolkien's legendarium have been if some time traveler had given him some kind of portable electronic device in which he could write without need of paper? Christopher Tolkien's writings on his father's work are full of commentary to the effect of, "He was only able to resume writing the manuscript during the early part of the war because the college gave him a big stack of students' examination papers, on which he scrawled so many overlapping notes that even I can barely decipher them sometimes."
