Hey, I have been a long time fan of your work since I first discovered ya in DeviantArt! Recently, I’m obsessed over Frans Shipper Toriel, and I was wondering how would Underswap Toriel would react to Frans in her universe? Like would she create a valentines-inspired holiday named after the two dorks? Maybe it’s Asgore whose the shipper? Anyways keep up the great work :D
Well we're talkin about underswap here.
It won't be Frans shipper toriel.
It would be papyra shipper asgore.
Tumblr media
We can have toriel shipper here too. It would be papyra though.
Though she's more timid here since she has a personality of asgore here.
Asgore will act more like ut fst here too.
If underswap toriel does discover Frans, she would be overwhelmed but still become supportive to her child's love life.

AO3 link for those who prefer to read fics there
This takes place within my Machine Convergence AU. For further information on that AU, including other works, either check out the section devoted to it in my Fic Masterlist pinned post on my blog page, or follow the link above.
I actually started writing this chapter a couple of days after the previous one, but I kept getting distracted with other fics. Anyway, I've finally gotten 'round to completing it, so here it is, with extra fluff (literally!).
__________________________________________
The sky above was overcast, a dark, dreary grey, as thick clouds drizzled rain down upon the heads of the people rushing between their parked cars and the large supermarket. Only one solitary skeleton monster remained unbothered by the dismal weather, calmly and methodically packing away his purchases into the trunk of his shiny, sleek, black convertible. Edge had long gotten used to rainfall, since his frequent challenging of Undyne’s position in the Royal Guard had often led him to Waterfall and its areas of constant downpours, and he was equally unaffected by the cold, given his lack of skin. He’d just finished packing away the last of his groceries, when a high-pitched meow came from below him, and he felt something lightly nudge his fibula. Startled, he looked down, sharp bones materialising all around him, ready to strike down his attacker. He was met by large, amber eyes, set in a tiny, wet, fluffy face. Relaxing his stance, Edge dismissed his attacks, bending down to peer closely at the kitten.
“WELL DONE FOR MANAGING TO SNEAK UP ON THE GREAT AND TERRIBLE PAP-EDGE!” he praised the cat, who mewled in reply. “THAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE FOR ONE SO SMALL. YOU HAVE GREAT POTENTIAL, TINY ONE. CONTINUE TO WORK ON YOUR STEALTH, AND ONE DAY, YOU SHALL BE A FORMIDABLE WARRIOR INDEED! NYAH HAH HAH!”
And with that, Edge turned back to his car, grabbing hold the lid of his trunk and preparing to close it, when he heard another, louder cry, followed by a second, firmer bump to his leg. Raising his brow, he looked back at the bedraggled kitten, who was rubbing up against his ankles.
“WHAT IS IT, TINY ONE? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?”
His questions were met with yet more meowing, growing increasingly miserable and pleading, as the kitten stared up at him with a pitiful expression on its fuzzy face. Edge frowned to himself thoughtfully. The kitten really was quite small, and clearly very young. Its fur was matted and completely soaked by the rain, having become so filthy that it was impossible to tell what colour it originally was. Given the state of its fur and its lack of collar, the kitten must have been a stray. And from its plaintive cries, the tiny creature was obviously hungry.
Turning back to the trunk of his car, Edge reached inside, briefly rifling through one of his grocery bags, before taking out one of the many packs of minced meat he’d just bought for his lasagne. Without hesitation, he tore open the package, grabbed a sizeable chunk of meat, and placed it on the ground next to the kitten. Immediately, the young feline began devouring the food, greedily gulping down big mouthfuls in its desperation to sate its hunger. Smirking to himself in satisfaction, Edge placed the rest of the minced meat on the floor, for the kitten to consume later, and once more turned back to his car, firmly closing and locking his trunk. His task complete, he made his way to the driver’s door and swiftly unlocked it.
He’d only just opened the door, when the kitten resumed its insistent mewling, yet again rubbing its body against his leg bones, leaving wet cat fur along the monster’s black, leather boots. With a frustrated huff, Edge crouched down to gently push the kitten away from him, but at the contact, the tiny, dishevelled feline started purring, pressing itself into the skeleton’s gloved hand. Edge paused. The odd vibrations felt strangely... pleasant against his bones.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Edge removed his glove and presented his now bareboned hand to the kitten, who wasted no time nuzzling its face into it, purring like a tiny, fluffy motor, and taking no heed of Edge’s sharp, clawed phalanges. Beginning to carefully scratch behind the cat’s ears, which caused the purring to increase in both volume and intensity, Edge allowed himself a moment to enjoy this little distraction. It really was quite a pleasurable sensation. But Edge couldn’t waste too much time lollygagging, he was a busy monster, after all. Besides, what would his brother say if he should ever find out about him, the terrifying Vice Captain of the Royal Guard, petting a stray kitten? Unthinkable.
Edge began to retract his hand, but the kitten chased after it, crying indignantly at him. Edge sighed to himself, considering his options. The kitten had clearly gotten attached to him; not surprising, given how impressive he was, it was only natural for such a young and simple creature to be in awe of the Great and Terrible Edge. Lifting his skull and scanning the area, Edge could spot no other cat anywhere in the vicinity, and so concluded that the kitten had either lost its mother, or had been abandoned by her. And from what Edge could tell, the tiny thing didn’t seem to be doing a very good job of taking care of itself, all alone in this weather. While the rain and the cold may not bother him, Edge knew that fleshy beings were greatly affected by them, especially younger, weaker creatures. If he just left it like this, Edge doubted the kitten would survive much longer.
How could he face his darling Chara, if he were to abandon a helpless kitten to fend for itself? She might never forgive him...
“HMMM... TINY ONE, HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT COMING WITH ME? I SWEAR TO TAKE YOU SAFELY TO MY BELOVED, WHO SHALL FIND YOU A SUITABLE HOME.”
In response, the kitten let out a high-pitched “mew!”, which Edge took as an affirmative. Mind made up, the skeleton monster gently picked up the kitten, a little alarmed at how little it weighed, and sat himself in the driver’s seat of his car, placing the cat in the passenger’s seat, and valiantly ignoring the wet fur which now stained the plush leather he’d so meticulously maintained. However, the cat instantly hopped onto Edge’s lap, shuffling itself around to find a comfortable position and kneading the dark denim of Edge’s jeans, before it finally settled down, curling itself into a ball of fluff and resuming its purring.
“HMPH. VERY WELL, TINY ONE, YOU MAY REMAIN WHERE YOU ARE,” Edge fought a smile at the sight of such a small, defenceless creature fearlessly making itself at home on his person. “YOU CERTAINLY POSSESS AN ADMIRABLE AMOUNT OF COURAGE. WELL WORRY NOT, FOR I SHALL DELIVER US BOTH TO MY ABODE VERY SOON.”
And with one last pat to the kitten’s head, Edge began the long drive back to the mansion.
~~~
While most of the mansion’s residents were currently out of the house, those that remained had settled themselves in the spacious living room. Comic and Red were sat on the sofa in front of their large, flat-screen TV, watching a sci-fi anime Alphys had recommended to them, Rose and Violet were enjoying steaming cups of jasmine tea in front of the fireplace, the warm glow of the flames illuminating their peaceful faces, as they discussed which flowers they should plant next in the garden, while Stretch and Bluebell were huddled together at a table, brainstorming new products for the joke shop they ran in the city. All of a sudden, the front door slammed open, startling no one, and Edge stepped through, paying no mind to the water dripping off of him and onto the floor.
“I HAVE RETURNED, EVERYONE!” he loudly announced to the room, completely unnecessarily, as no one could have possibly missed his grand entrance.
Red and Rose instantly shot up from their seats, making their way towards the tall skeleton monster, the human grabbing an armful of towels from a well-placed cupboard along the way, which she used to dry her boyfriend with, as both her and Red greeted Edge, who preened at the attention. The rest of the room ignored the trio, well used to such an occurrence from the more boisterous members of their household; that is, until Rose let out a squeal of “a kitten!”, causing all eyes (and eyelights) to snap to her. She was indeed cradling a tiny, drenched kitten in her arms, cooing over it, as Edge proudly explained how he had heroically rescued the poor thing from the supermarket parking lot.
“OF COURSE, I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT OF YOU, MY DEAR,” Edge’s normally harsh expression had softened, as he beheld his girlfriend’s rare, happy smile as she gently pet the purring kitten. “YOU OFTEN TELL ME OF THE MANY CATS THE ANIMAL SHELTER YOU VOLUNTEER FOR HAS TAKEN IN. SURELY THEY COULD ACCOMMODATE ONE MORE?”
At that last bit, however, Rose’s face fell.
“I wish we could,” she sighed regretfully, lightly scratching the kitten under his chin. “But we rescued a whole bunch of cats from a hoarding situation a few days ago, so the shelter’s cat section is completely full right now. Who knows when there’ll be any available space for another one. And all of our fosterers have their hands full too at the moment,” she bit her lip, gazing fretfully down at the purring feline. “I really don’t know what to do about this poor, little guy...”
Rose looked incredibly upset at her inability to help the stray kitten, and Edge couldn’t stand to see the woman he loved being so sad. With a decisive nod to himself, he placed his hands on Rose’s shoulders, causing her to stare up at him, wide-eyed, and gave her a determined look, his red eyelights burning brightly in his dark sockets.
“THEN THE ANSWER IS CLEAR. WE MUST BE THE ONES TO CARE FOR THIS TINY ONE!”
His declaration was met with stunned faces all around. Rose recovered first, glancing over at Comic hesitantly.
“I’d love to keep him, but I’m not sure if... I mean, we’re not the only ones who live here, after all, I wouldn’t want to impose on the others,” she bit her lip, her expression full of uncertainty, but Edge could see the hope shining in her soft, brown eyes. With a scowl, Edge turned towards the rest of the room.
“WHO HERE WOULD OPPOSE THIS TINY, INNOCENT, HELPLESS KITTEN STAYING WITH US?” his harsh, husky voice boomed, a warning in his tone. “IS THERE ANY AMONGST YOU, WHO WOULD WISH TO THROW THIS WEAK, ORPHANED BABY OUT INTO THE COLD AND THE RAIN, WERE IT SHALL SURELY PERISH?”
Red was quick to speak up, sweat reflexively beading on his brow at the threatening look on his brother’s scarred skull.
“not me, boss!” he shook his skull vigorously. “i’m fine with the ‘lil runt stayin’ ‘ere. no problem!”
He gave Edge a compliant grin, holding his hands up in mock surrender. Edge sniffed, giving his older brother a pleased smirk, before turning to glare at his other housemates. Violet gave him a flat look, unimpressed with his obvious ploy, while Comic chuckled quietly in amusement at his antics, so similar to Vanilla’s, if a little more aggressive. Both Stretch and Bluebell gave Edge horrified looks.
“We’d never do something so cruel and heartless!” Bluebell protested vehemently, hands balled into fists.
Beside her, Stretch nodded his agreement.
“yeah, we’re not that kind of monster! we’d love to have the ‘lil fella stay with us! poor thing looks chilled to the bone, i’d never have the heart to throw him out. literally, nyeh,” Stretch couldn’t help snickering at his joke, to which Edge shot him a disgusted glare, but refrained from commenting, given his alternate self’s easy acceptance of Edge’s suggestion.
Edge glanced at Violet, who merely offered him a cool look, so he quickly averted his eyelights, to fix them instead on Comic, their de facto leader alongside his wife. Comic smirked at Edge’s challenging glower, before frowning to himself in consideration, giving the matter some real thought.
“i don’t mind you guys havin’ a pet cat, and neither will my wife, but i’m just worried about our own pet pigeon, baguette,” he turned his eyelights to the bird in question, nesting peacefully on his perch in the corner of the room. “i’m scared your little fluffball might try to eat our feathered friend. ain’t that a thing cats do?”
Edge paused, glancing in concern between the kitten in his girlfriend’s arms, and the pigeon his hosts had rescued and nursed back to health over a year ago. It was Rose who spoke up.
“Not necessarily!” she stated adamantly, her initial hesitation dissipating upon the others’ willingness to let her keep the stray cat. “Not all cats are inclined to hunt for prey. Many housecats can live in perfect harmony with other pets, including birds, it’s just a matter of introducing them slowly to each other, and seeing how well they get along. If we have to, then we’ll just keep them separated.”
At her steady reassurance, Comic gave a thoughtful hum, then turned to his pigeon, holding his arm out to him.
“hey, baguette! c’mere pal!”
The bird looked up at his owner’s call, then stood up, ruffling his feathers a bit, before taking off. He bypassed Comic’s outstretched arm, to land directly atop the skeleton’s skull.
“... perfect landing, buddy, that’s exactly where i wanted you, thanks,” Comic muttered around the tail feathers falling in between his eye sockets.
With a sigh of fond exasperation, Comic gently took Baguette into his bony hands and walked towards Rose. Once he reached her, he gingerly held the pigeon out towards the kitten, ready to pull his beloved pet out of harm’s way at the first hint of aggression from the cat. But the young kitten only sniffed curiously at the proffered bird, before letting out a happy mew, and began purring contentedly, having evidently decided that this feathered being was most definitely friend-shaped. For his part, Baguette observed the newcomer with his own curiosity, cooing inquisitively and tilting his head left and right, scrutinising this strange creature from every angle, before losing interest, and beginning to squirm in Comic’s hands, clearly wishing to be set free. Comic complied with the pigeon’s unspoken request, releasing him from his hold and allowing the bird to fly away.... and right back, to land in the hood of Comic’s jacket. With another sigh, the skeleton monster shrugged his shoulders.
“eh, fine, baggy, suit yourself,” he grinned wryly, then nodded at Rose and Edge. “welp, doesn’t seem like your cat’s got any interest in having pigeon for dinner. guess he can stay, then.”
At Comic’s blessing, Rose’s face lit up and she beamed up at Edge.
“We can keep the kitten! Isn't that wonderful!?”
Edge smiled with uncharacteristic softness at his girlfriend, relishing the bright smile she so rarely showed the world.
“INDEED, MY DEAR, THAT IS EXCELLENT NEWS,” turning towards Comic, he offered the shorter skeleton a grateful nod. “I APPRECIATE YOUR CONSENT TO US TAKING IN A STRAY CAT. AND I PROMISE TO KEEP AN EYE SOCKET OUT AND MAKE SURE OUR TINY ONE DOES NOT HARM YOUR PET.”
And then, surprisingly, it was Red’s turn to express his gratitude to Comic.
“yeah, thanks bud,” he gave his alternate self a genuine smile, his voice quiet and sincere, lacking any of his usual sarcasm. “this means a lot to my bro, so it means a lot ta me.”
“ah, forget about it,” Comic waved away Red’s words, his own grin growing bashful. “it was nothin’, really. the wife’ll be delighted to have a cute, little kitten runnin’ around the place, and i’m sure my bro and his girl won’t mind a new, fluffy friend. though, uh, try to keep the cat residue to a minimum in the kitchen, please.”
Rose nodded, her eyes blazing with resolve at Comic’s request.
“I will! I’ll clean up all the cat fur as much as possible, I promise! And I’ll keep kitty out of the kitchen, too. It’s not safe for him in there anyway.”
Comic gave Rose a pleased wink at her assurance, then turned away, about to walk off, before he paused, as if suddenly remembering something.
“oh yeah, almost forgot. you guys haven’t really seen him around much, but we also kinda have a dog. maybe.”
The other three gave him confused looks.
“Maybe?” Rose was the one to voice the question. “How do you ‘kinda’ have a dog?”
Comic shrugged carelessly, his grin wide and his posture laidback.
“well, we’re not too sure really, since toby just sorta... comes and goes as he pleases, despite my bro’s best efforts to keep him outta the house. we’re not even sure if he’s actually a dog or a dog monster, but we do know that he loves bones and pets, so that’s enough of a dog for frisky,” at the dubious looks he received, Comic just shrugged his shoulders again. “ah, but don’t worry ‘bout toby. dog or not, he’s a good boy, and i’m sure he won’t bother your cat.”
And with that, Comic walked off, lifting a snoozing Baguette out of his hoodie and returning the pigeon back to his perch. Red then cleared his non-existent throat and looked between his brother and Rose.
“so, uh... you two gotta name fer the furball, yet?”
Edge and Rose blinked at each other, before the human offered her boyfriend a warm smile.
“Well, Edge, since you’re the one who found this little man, you should be the one to name him.”
Edge rubbed his mandible thoughtfully, furrowing his brow in careful contemplation.
“HMM... WELL, THIS TINY ONE HAS SHOWN GREAT POTENTIAL ALREADY, AND I’M SURE HE WILL ONE DAY BE FIERCE FIGHTER! WITH PROPER TRAINING, OF COURSE. A CREATURE SUCH AS HIM DESERVES A NAME BEFITTING THE TERROR HE SHALL SOON INSPIRE IN HIS FOES! SO! I SHALL NAME HIM... DOOMFANGER! NYAHAHAHAHAH!!”
Edge laughed maniacally, his fists on his hip bones, looking incredibly proud of himself for his genius.
“heh, cool name, boss,” Red grinned up at his younger brother, his tone sincere, despite his obvious struggle not to laugh and offend the taller monster, while Rose hooked one arm around one of Edge’s, interrupting his cackling.
“Come on, Pap, let’s go give Doomfanger a much-needed, warm bath; I’m pretty such he’s got fleas we need to get rid of. And then I’ll try to get us an appointment with the vet, get this little baby checked out.”
In the face of Rose’s enthusiastic smile, Edge could only allow himself to be tugged along by his much shorter girlfriend, his soul soaring and practically glowing with pride at having been able to bring his beloved so much joy. As the couple strolled away, arm in arm, everyone could hear Rose’s excited chatter, as she babbled to her boyfriend about some facts she’d learned about cats’ purr.
“Did you know that a cat's purr ranges between the frequencies of 25 and 150 Hz? Frequencies within this range have been shown to improve bone density and promote healing in broken bones, aid joint and tendon repair, and help wound healing. Not only this, but it has been proven that cat owners have better mental health! Which is something we could all do with...”
As Rose’s voice drifted away, accompanied by Edge’s much louder one (“THOSE MYSTERIOUS VIBRATIONS HE PRODUCES HAVE HEALING PROPERTIES!? HE TRULY IS A WORTHY STUDENT OF THE GREAT AND TERRIBLE EDGE, NYAH HAH!”), the living room fell silent for a brief moment, before Bluebell leapt up, practically buzzing with excitement.
“We have a kitty! A tiny, fluffy, adorable kitty cat!” she squealed, while her boyfriend gazed at her fondly.
“well, technically edgelord and his girl have a kitty,” Stretch pointed out, but Bluebell’s enthusiasm could not be diminished.
“Eh, what’s the difference? I’m sure Other Me’ll let me play with the kitty,” she bounced up and down on the balls of her feet like a little kid at Gyftmas, her natural blush deepening in her zeal.
From her spot by the fireplace, Violet took a delicate sip of her jasmine tea, savouring the sweet, floral fragrance. Reclining in her chair, she crossed her legs, draping one over the other with effortless grace, and let out a faint sigh.
“I, for one, don’t mind the others taking in a stray cat, and neither will Rus, but Black certainly will. He despises fur getting on his possessions, especially his clothes.”
Bluebell halted her energetic bouncing, to shoot her otherworldly counterpart a dismayed pout.
“You think Black will make us get rid of the kitty?”
However, Violet merely shook her head, a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips, an impish glint in her brown eyes.
“He’ll try, but our Frisk will quickly put a stop to his complaints,” she leaned forward, her voice lowering as if imparting a secret. “She’ll take one look at that kitten and demand he stay, and Black will fold like wet tissue paper, despite all his blustering.”
The boys all snickered at her words, but Bluebell remained unconvinced.
“You’re really sure your Frisky will want kitty to stay that badly?”
Violet giggled into her hand, giving her alternate self a conspiratorial wink.
“Absolutely. My sister is a bleeding-heart and a massive sucker for sad, pathetic creatures.”
Red’s grin turned mean at that.
“izzat why she likes rus so much?”
Violet shot him a cold sneer, before taking another sip of her tea.
“While I greatly object to you calling my boyfriend pathetic, I do agree that his sad puppy-dog disposition is why my sister is so soft on him,” then her expression turned mildly exasperated, as she recalled a certain memory. “That same soft spot is why, when she and Rus went to check out this universe’s Napstablook, to compare them to our own Napstaton, those two ended up coming back with a tank full of snails.” Violet huffed a sigh, rolling her eyes slightly. “Frisk took one look at that ghost’s tragic, pitiful expression, and immediately offered to take care of their snails for them, so that Napstablook wouldn’t have to worry about them while off on tour with their cousin, that flamboyant, loudmouthed, tin can you guys consider a celebrity. So now we have a bunch of pet snails no one asked for, or wanted.”
Comic offered her a commiserating smile.
“sounds rough, pal.”
Violet tipped her head to him in acknowledgment, but then stared off into the distance in fond reminiscence.
“Well... It’s not all bad. My sister’s bleeding heart is also why I didn’t put up a fight when she took over my body and went on a killing spree, back during my time Underground,” she confessed, her voice hushed. The others fell silent, listening with bated breaths. “You see, I knew that the lonely spirit who’d been by my side, comforting me and encouraging me to stay determined since the moment I fell, would never be able to actually go through with her genocidal plans. I knew that Frisk would eventually become so wracked with guilt, that she’d give up, and then she’d be much more willing to help me with my wish to save the monsters.”
The boys all stared at her, stunned by her revelation. Bluebell, on the other hand, gazed at her in awe.
“Wow! That’s so... so devious of you!” she gushed, her voice full of admiration. “You’re like an evil mastermind! Except not evil. A Not-Evil Mastermind!”
Stretch raised a browbone at her.
“so just a mastermind, then.”
But his girlfriend shook her head insistently.
“No! A Not-Evil Mastermind! There’s a difference!”
Comic squinted at her in bewilderment, and Red gave her a blank look, but Stretch nodded sagely, as if she’d made perfect sense. Violet pursed her lips, a light, displeased frown on her face.
“I prefer to think of myself as being ‘pragmatic’, thank you very much,” she raised her chin imperiously. “I’m very good at reading people, so I try to get them to play to their strengths, so that it’s a win-win situation for all involved. That’s why I work at the front of our flower shop, dealing with the customers, whereas my snarky, anti-social self works in the back and in the garden, handling the flowers, and any task not requiring her to interact with other people. Especially humans. She’s still got quite the chip on her shoulder, that girl, despite Vanilla’s positive influence on her.”
Violet sighed dramatically, bemoaning Buttercup’s unhelpfully acerbic nature. Bluebell gasped and pointed a finger at her, grinning triumphantly.
“That’s exactly what a Not-Evil Mastermind would say!”
Violet resisted the urge to roll her eyes, her lips going flat and her eyes flashing with annoyance, though she seemed dangerously close to pouting.
“You’re not so different from me, you know,” she retorted, shooting the other human a shrewd look. “Despite your air-headed persona, you easily managed to con your world’s Frisk into doing all of your paperwork for you, and taking on a sizeable chunk of your ambassadorial duties.”
Bluebell’s face was the very picture of innocence at Violet’s accusation.
“I only wanted Frisky to feel useful,” she rocked back and forth on her heels, her eyes wide and seemingly guileless. “It’s best if she’s kept busy, so that she doesn’t dwell too much on her guilt over what happened in the past!”
“or cause any more trouble,” Stretch muttered under his breath beside her. Bluebell ignored his interruption, her expression turning sly and mischievous all of a sudden.
“Besides, paperwork is boooring, and my Frisky is much better suited to dealing with it! It’s a win-win, like you said!”
Both human women wore identical crafty grins, giggling like not-evil masterminds. Stretch didn’t appear too phased by their attitude, shaking his skull in fond amusement at his girlfriend, a completely enamoured smile on his skull. Both Comic and Red, however, subtly edged away from the two humans, looking mildly terrified of how manipulative all Charas were, even the more peaceful ones.
Upstairs, Rose was already making plans for all of the things they’d need to procure, to properly accommodate the newest and smallest member of their family, Edge nodding along obediently to all of her suggestions, while little Doomfanger rejoiced in having finally found his forever home.
_____________________________________________
I'm a huge animal lover, and couldn't resist giving a pair from each AU their own pet(s). The Sans and Frisk from Classic UT have the pigeon they rescued from Fransweek 2022, Day 2: Day Out, Rus and Amethyst have a bunch of snails they got from Napstablook, and now Edge and Rose have Doomfanger, the kitten (because how could I not give Edgy his famous cat?)! Blue and Bluebell will obtain their pets in a future chapter. I'm not 100% satisfied with Bluebell's name, since it's so similar to Blue's, but my second choice was 'Larkspur', which, on top of being fairly toxic (something she is not), is often purple, so it didn't fit as well. If anyone can recommend a better name, I'm all ears.
For those who care, Comic and Topaz are the unofficial leaders of the group, because they’re the only two who really have their shit together. They’re both happily married, and have established a good, stable life, with jobs they enjoy and lots of real friends. They’re both well-respected public figures in their world, and have gained a genuine confidence and self-assurance that the others all admire. The others look up to them, whether they realise it or not, so while it’s gone unacknowledged, everyone silently agrees that those two are in charge. They're also the ones who set everyone else up with their own IDs, helped them get their jobs, and officially own the mansion they all live in, so that's also a major point in their favour. It's not really a big deal, though, just something to bear in mind.
If you have any thoughts, suggestions, questions, or requests, I'm always happy to hear them! Seriously!
I'm now juggling three ongoing fics (big mistake, I have many regrets), so I'm unsure when the next update will be, but I'll try not to make anyone wait too long.
"Even if she knew it was impossible, Chara kept stubbornly pulling Papyrus' arm in a bad attempt to drag the tall monster through the gardens. Thanks to the adrenaline she was actually able to take a few steps towards the castle, but there was only so much a small bookworm like her could do.
So, when the king opened one of his sockets, Chara was washed with an immense wave of relief.
-Thank God, you're awake! - she exclaimed, pulling his hand with urgency - Here, get up! Can you walk? That… That thing is gone, the wolves can come back at any minute! C'mon, we need to go!
Papyrus pulled himself up, disoriented. He stumbled forward, placing some of his weight on Chara. He couldn't open his right socket and one of his legs didn't feel quite right.
-Are you ok? - the woman asked, worried, after they managed to establish a decent rhythm - You are bleeding! And you passed out very suddenly back there.
-I'm… I think I'm ok? - the man replied, unsure - I'm guessing summoning that thing used too much energy.
-What on Earth was that?
-No idea. I have never summoned anything other than bones before.
-Alright. Cool - Chara felt the weirdest urge to laugh. She might be in shock - I didn't know skeletons could bleed, by the way. Weird.
-I can also talk and walk, but bleeding is the weird part? I… Ah, fuck!
Papyrus flinched after touching the right part of his skull. There was a nasty cut on the place the wolf's claws hit his socket, no wonder he couldn't open it.
-This one might leave a scar - the man grunted, fighting the urge to keep touching the cut.
The wash of relief Chara had felt for reaching the giant front doors of the castle was suddenly dimmed by her concern.
-But… But you won't be blind in that eye, will you? - she asked, her voice coated in worry.
-It's not an actual eye, so I doubt it - the king replied, finally closing the heavy doors behind them.
They both leaned against the doors and slided to the floor in synchrony, the adrenaline leaving their bodies and being replaced by exhaustion.
After a minute of silent panting on the floor, Papyrus turned his skull at Chara.
-Hey, are you hurt?
-I'm not - she replied, also turning to face him.
-Great, I can scold you then - he frowned at the human, keeping his voice dangerously low - Haven't I specifically told you "the barrier doesn't affect wild animals so don't leave the castle at night"? It was one of the first things I've ever said to you. What the hell were you thinking?
-I wasn't thinking - the woman replied, also frowning. She suddenly remembered she was mad at him - But I had just found out everything we've been through ever since day one was a huge, huge lie, I was devastated. I didn't think, I just had to leave this place. I had to run. I was too hurt to think.
-I… - Papyrus hesitated for a moment before proceeding - I also told you not to go to the west wing. God, why can't you follow simple instructions?
-Wha… Wait, do you want me to be sorry for discovering your dirty secret? - Chara asked, outraged - Don't you dare to throw this blame on me! I didn't even know I was in the west wing, all the wings look exactly the same!
They DID NOT look exactly the same, but Papyrus held his tongue on that. That girl had the sense of direction of a brick, it was very possible she ended up there by accident. A very, very unfortunate accident that almost got them both killed.
The monster held the bridge of his nasal bone, grunting. What a fantastic day.
Chara's hands were grabbing her dress with so much strength her knuckles were white. Then, she let go of it with a shaky sigh, just as her eyes filled with water.
-I'm really sorry about your injuries though - the woman murmured, gulping - Thank you for saving my life."
Masterpost
~
Updates here are very sporadic. Very. Weird thing is, I had 95% of this post (including the drawing) ready for MONTHS. I just couldn't find the motivation to finish it.
(And I love how this Chara gets lost all the time. She's so me!)
