another semi prominent twitter artist has weighed in on hazbin and i gotta say my least favorite hazbin take ever is "angel dust is the only salvageable character but i only like him when hes not saying swears and sex jokes" because its like. oh you mean the sex jokes he specifically uses as a litmus test for judgy assholes that you wouldve just failed?

Okay, I’ve been a bit scared because I’ve been observing from the sidelines, but I do want you to know this isn’t a hateful or troll ask, I’m genuinely asking for clarification.
In my experience, “pro-shipping” has always meant ‘problematic shipping’, and all of the people I’ve talked to about this have said the same thing.
Am I the one who’s misconstrued? I really don’t get it.
Being called “pro-harassment” or “pro-censorship” is hurtful and confusing as all hell.
I don’t harass people for what they create. I don’t care to do that. I block and move on, and warn people if I know they could be upset by the content.
But I also don’t understand how certain things are justified.
I am personally not bothered by much, but I have watched friends and acquaintances go through visceral traumatic reactions because people have decided to air out their coping by sharing it with the public. (I.E, people who write romantic incestual fics, etc)
I don’t give a shit what people write. I really don’t. But it feels harmful to use the excuse of coping when you, in turn, could be hurting dozens of others.
Like I said, I genuinely am not trying to be hateful here. I’m confused, and still distraught that all of this is happening. I don’t think anyone deserves to be harassed. I just also don’t get the logic here.
Pro-shipping never once meant problematic shipping. It meant opposite of "anti" because antis would come and invade the tags and asks, calling them all kinds of names if they found their ships distasteful.
Sorry that being indirectly accused of supporting harassment hurt your feelings. Imagine how I felt, being DIRECTLY accused of supporting rape in real life because of my taste in fiction. You are throwing in your lot with people who can't distinguish fantasy and reality.
I don't like incest fics either, anon. They are triggering for me. So you know what I do? I don't read fics tagged as incest. For that reason, I have never been triggered by an incest fic. I suppose I would be if I read an incest fic that wasn't tagged as much, but you will never find a single pro-shipper who defends posting such content without a tag. You are responsible for your own experience online; it is your job to curate the content.
If it was just seeing that the fic exists that triggered the response, then I'm sorry to say they're still in the wrong. As a survivor, learning that triggers exist and how to navigate those triggers is on you. We are responsible for how we deal with our trauma. Your friends didn't deserve their traumas, and they deserve kindness and support, but requesting that people never be allowed to write distasteful fiction so that they don't have to be upset by the idea that someone somewhere shipped incest is not reasonable. Their feelings are valid; it's totally reasonable to be triggered, to strictly curate your online experience. It's reasonable to block everyone who ships the upsetting incest ships, to put an "incest shippers DNI" on your page, all of it. It's not reasonable to call them supporters of IRL incest or to accuse them of causing your trauma. It isn't hard at all on AO3 or Tumblr; they even give you the option to blacklist/filter out certain tags so you can avoid it without blocking users. There's easily half a dozen safeguards that already exist that are a lot less radical, a lot less likely to be weaponized against queer users, and a lot easier to enforce than trying to remove them.
Me writing fics, such as a character using kink to cope, can only harm a user who doesn't curate their feed (and who reads fics they know will trigger them, which I can only assume would then be a purposeful form of self-harm). Denying other survivors their coping mechanism, though, IS a direct form of harm. Stigmatizing recovery by saying that survivors are in any way akin to abusers for creating fiction is a direct form of harm.
It sounds to me like you've absorbed some very harmful and very narrow ideas of what recovery should and should not look like, and what is and isn't a good/valid survivor. You might want to reflect on why you're turning your attention to policing what survivors do to cope so much.

Rained World Rascals - About the Slugcats
So, I figured since I've seen one or two AU's do this by now, I should toss my hat in the ring and show off what I've got. I've got a little bit of time to kill before I sleep, so I'm gonna write about my beloved little alternate-universe slugcats here.
Tumblr media
ALL INFO UNDER THE CUT
(All slugcats use they/any)
Tumblr media
SURVIVOR
Age upon arrival: 19 moons
Known as "Viv" only to their closest friends, Survivor is a painfully average slugcat, even average to ENOT. And NOBODY is average to ENOT. Assertive and opinionated, even when they don't intend to be, Survivor is nothing short of a very natural slugcat. Even in their own biological family, they're the most average one. Despite their brutal honesty, Survivor still strives to protect those who are close to them, especially their younger sibling Monk, and their auncle/guardian, a 67 moon-old Gourmand.
Living in a grand tree in Outer Expanse, Survivor grew up with a grand and expansive family. After a tragic incident deep in the expanse led to young Survivor and Monk being orphaned, old Gourmand took them in as their own. Despite having everything they needed, Survivor still felt it a major responsibility to be there for their younger sibling, even when the going got rough for everyone. In a twist of fate involving an attempt to conquer their fear of heights, Survivor plummeted into a pipe which led to an unknown area beyond the retaining wall, after which they ran into Hunter.
Tumblr media
MONK
Age upon arrival: 13 moons
As the youngest of the bunch, Monk is a youthful and spritely spirit who savors the world around them. Against all odds, Monk always finds a way to appreciate the world around them, be it a Squidcada or a Red Lizard. They're so intensely appreciative of the world around them that it's not uncommon for them to have made a new wildlife friend when they're out and about. Despite them being a friendly and social person normally, however, they tend to bottle up their emotions to an unhealthy degree, becoming cold and even volatile when provoked about emotionally difficult subjects. They take it upon themselves to never show emotions and be strong, just like their older sibling was when they were younger. They show a great resolve and work as hard as they can every day to contribute to their group.
Monk had to cope with the loss of their parents at a much younger age than Survivor, which led to them walking in their stride of not showing much emotion in difficult moments. Monk's version of this was pushing away those who cared about them and seeking quiet, lonely places to not be seen crying. Regardless, they still grew up moderately happy with love and support from Gourmand. The real damage came when they thought they had lost their sibling to the massive gaping hole that was the pipe. Late at night, after overhearing a conversation between the colony elders including Gourmand about potentially surviving a fall into the pipe, Monk raced out on their own and jumped in after their sibling. They sustained a black eye, but they survived and ran into a strange, younger version of Gourmand in the Outskirts.
Tumblr media
HUNTER
Age upon arrival: 27 moons
Hunter is a lively, spritely person, always looking to have fun and enjoy life. They're also a greatly skilled and acclaimed fighter, always discovering new and creative ways to deal with opponents. Out of the whole gang, they are the most childish, petty, and hot-headed. They're prone to angry outbursts, but they're rarely ever actually fueled by anger--more so by passion than anything. Their humor is rarely mean-spirited, though it can reach a paramount of genuinely dubious intent. It's never malicious though, and is certainly a facade for a deeper, darker existential dread that they refuse to put upon anyone else, lest they try to help...
Hunter seldom talks about their past, but they do volunteer the fact that they were one of the few in the group raised, partially or wholly, by an Iterator. Given NSH's temperament, however, "raised" is a generous term. "Crashed with" is more appropriate. While NSH did indeed raise Hunter, they treated them less like one of their own progeny and more like a roommate. But in the end, NSH was still there for them, even in their darkest moments. But still, nothing could save them from what was yet to come. When time was finally reaching its end, Hunter decided to use what little power they had to commit a noble act. At least, that's how it was supposed to go...
Tumblr media
GOURMAND
Age upon arrival: 34 moons
Gourmand is a champion of relaxation. Tied tighter to the material plane than any other member of the group, Gourmand takes great pleasure in finding new ways to enjoy their existence. Whether it be a new food or a new sunbeam to lie in, they always find ways to indulge in the new whilst also appreciating the old, and they take even greater pleasure in sharing these experiences with anyone willing to engage in them. They rarely ever raise their voice or get angry, only getting sad or disappointed. They are still honor-bound to defending those they care about, and have the ability to do so. They are not as skilled of a fighter as the other two leaders of the pack, but they still earn their mainstay as a strong and unyielding defender of the group.
Gourmand's past is possibly the most normal one out of everyone in the pack. When they were younger, they were an explorer, searching out places beyond their own expanse to widen their worldview. They found themselves mostly alone for their whole life, helping guide the occasional slugpup to a safe and bountiful location for them to sustain themselves. But just when they were headed home, thinking they had seen everything there is to see in this world, one strange step in Outskirts had them waking up in Shaded Citadel. Continuing mostly unfazed back in the direction they were headed, they eventually ran into another slugpup--a small, yellow one. But unexpectedly, this one seemed to know their name.
Tumblr media
ARTIFICER
Age upon arrival: 38 moons
On the other far end of the age spectrum, Artificer is a much more jaded, violence-oriented, earthbound spirit. They're abrasive, rash, quick to annoyance and anger, and truly assert their dominance as a leader of the pack. To say a soft center lies at their heart would be a cruel lie--their soft center is guarded by numerous layers of rock-hard trauma and moons of horrors. Despite all of this, it's still not wrong to say there is one. It's just that... well, it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. And much like a camel passing through the eye of a needle, you need to play your cards right. Someone succeeded, after all. Their outward attitude may be cold and quiet at best, but their desire to keep what is sacred to them safe is unmatched. They will go to great lengths to protect those they consider to be important to them, using their strange combustion-controlling powers to assure that no foe lays a finger on whatever they hold dear.
Artificer is highly cagey about their past. It's all so traumatic to them that they'd rather not remember a second of their life from moon ages 20 to 31. But the evidence they left behind is still there--a new despotic ruler of the scavengers on top of the superstructure without a drop of royal blood in them, a building missing from the metropolis, the strangely large shelter hidden in Outskirts with evidence of numerous slugcats having lived there once, the occasional mutter of their "apprentices" that they always seem to emphasize in such a way that indicates they caught themselves from saying something else, their "ex"... it all fits together, like pieces of a puzzle piece. But lest their redemption in a moral sense be of any concern to you, they'd do everything they could to keep you from finding out.
Tumblr media
RIVULET
Age upon arrival: 25 moons
Rivulet is a strange character, simply put. They're dormant for most of the day, sleeping for longer periods of time than anyone else. But when they're awake, their agility and speed are second to absolutely none. Their speed is comically fast, and they can stay underwater for longer than anyone else. They're also highly intelligent, knowing how to work with Ancient-level technology and how to fix Iterators, a talent that landed them the role of pack nurse. Despite living life in the fast lane, they still appreciate the moments when they get to relax and be immature for once. Monk is a good friend to them and enjoys getting to play games and small sports with them. Their inner child truly gets to shine through, and to them it's a much needed break from the constant maturity life demands from them.
Rivulet comes from far, far away, descended from lands still yet to be discovered to most lifeforms on Five Pebbles' side of the world. Their upbringing was natural, with their bodily modifications appearing over hundreds of thousands of moons of evolution. When they came across the Retaining Wall, the rains were harsh and frequent, which led to their slumberful sleeping schedule. With their experience, aiding the surrounding Iterators was no difficult task, with their abnormally high capacity for speed and their gathered intelligence from their experiences across the world. The hardest part was what happened afterward, as they travelled into Outskirts and took one wrong step...
Tumblr media
SPEARMASTER
Age upon arrival: 29 moons
Spearmaster, the self-proclaimed master of spears, is... a genetic nightmare, to say the least. Without a mouth, their speech is muffled and they often have to resort to slugsign to make their voice truly heard. Fortunately, Artificer knows pre-collapse era slugsign the best, and can account for this difficulty. While the objectively disgusting ability to excrete bone-like spears out of their tail is an interesting hallmark of their character, they make up for this weird factor of themselves by being an all around pleasant person to be around. They're a good listener, and they make sure that everyone gets what they need. They offer support when anyone needs it, and they make sure that not a soul goes unhealed, alongside their compatriot Rivulet. They're also insanely physically strong despite their gangly stature, using the incredible autonomy over their body to enter hysterical strength mode at will. These valuable qualities enable them to be the third leader of the pack.
A dutiful soldier, Spearmaster was the seventh in a line of genetically-weaponized slugcats who functioned as expert messengers. In a time where communication was severely limited due to a certain Iterator's desperation, Spearmaster helped deliver a message to the culprit, earning a now barely-visible scar on their chest, thanks to their abnormally quick healing ability. Even though the mission didn't go as planned, they still chose to see it through to the end, determined to be the messenger they were always meant to be. However, as they completed their mission and were on their way home, they found themself in a place they didn't quite recognize. It was certainly somewhere they had been before, but everything looked... different. After a run in with a strange, angry maroon slugcat, they looked off in the direction of their former mission goal only to see that there was one less Iterator than usual.
Tumblr media
SAINT
Age upon arrival: 22 moons, but... it's complicated.
One of the most enigmatic slugcats of all, Saint is an omen of cycles and moons yet to come. Their speech is often very verbose and elongated, asserting themselves as a rather intelligent slugcat, maybe more so than even Rivulet. They seldom show emotion, and are barely ever seen opening their eyes, only doing so when using one or more of their wide array of powers. The only special powers they have consistent access to are flight, ascension, and teleportation. The powers which remain outside of their control, though, are plentiful, and include but are not limited to powers such as telekinesis, time control, gravity control, and karma manipulation. The names of the regions they use are strange and don't make sense to any of the other slugcats, expressing great shock that "Silent Construct" doesn't seem to exist as they know it.
Saint's past is one shrouded in mystery, but it's no greater mystery to anyone but Saint themself. They can't recall ever being a pup, nor anything about their life since the loop began. They do, however, recognize every other slugcat from images recorded by an old blue robot's overseers. They especially liked the white one and the dark one covered with blue and orange spots. However, after being trapped in the loop for so long that they not only went completely insane, but then became sane again after becoming bored of being insane, they were hoping, praying, wishing that something, anything would be different on one of their loops. It was not a great prospect, but it was the only thing they had left in their life anymore. They were a broken, mentally-scarred, omniscient anomaly who was unable to die. The least they could've hoped for was a change. And to their credit, after billions of loops, leaving them mentally millions of moons older than any other living thing, a fateful trip through Suburban Drifts would leave them waking up in the warm, wet lands of Sky Islands. Out of all the slugcats who "arrived," Saint was the only one to react to the world around them with tears of joy. Something was finally different. Something was new around them. Something was unfamiliar. And just like that, they had a reason to live again.
Tumblr media
ENOT I. SOFANTHIEL
Age upon arrival: 21 moons
In a pack full of anomalies, ENOT is weirder than the others by miles. Covered with brightly-colored spots and donning a pair of thick eyelashes, ENOT is a peculiar-appearing slugcat. But the strangeness doesn't end there. ENOT suffers from hallucinations due to a chemical in their blood acting as a hallucinogen, which presumably was given to them as a defense mechanism against predators. But when they're not being attacked, they're forced to wade through landscapes of nacho cheese and rainbow pipes, while having to take refuge in a shelter full of demons and monsters, the most terrifying of which being a pup-shaped and pup-sized black mass with a red face. Fortunately, this little nightmare's older sibling Survivor is far more attractive. ENOT has a tendency to be consistently flirtatious with their colleagues, vainly hoping to form romantic connections. They don't seem to be aware they're doing it, however, and are even more effective as a romantic being when they're simply being genuine. It is very odd that they seem to be unaware that they're flirting, though. Very weird. What's even weirder is that the period they come from on the timeline is completely unplaceable, whether that be due to their unreliable testimonies on account of their hallucinations, or something else...
????
Nothing makes sense.
NIGHT
Who is "Night?" Why, nothing more than a slugpup's cautionary tale. Right? Surely, the story of a rogue, zombified slugcat who sits outside of the cycle and steals any slugcats' arms for the karma symbols stuck on them in a vain attempt to re-enter the cycle is nothing more than a tall tale written to scare young slugpups into sticking with the pack and going to sleep on time, right? Yeah. That's all it is. Nothing more than a tall tale. Nothing more than a spooky campfire story. Nothing more, nothing less.
Of course, that doesn't stop anyone from being afraid. Some even say that in the dark of the night or the rain-filled clouds, they can spot something moving. Nothing like a lizard, or a lost scavenger. Nothing like anything they've ever seen before. A pair of eyes, maybe a glint of teeth or two. Nothing confirmed, but it's troubling to say the least. Still, nothing but a rumor, right?
Tumblr media
...hey, anyone else see that?

Let's review the manifesto for Cripple Punk again! [Addressing the discourse]
With all of the discourse I see about who is/can identify with Cripple Punk or Cpunk I think it's time to take some time to reaffirm the basics and take some time to shine a spotlight on the Madpunk movement.
You can find the original manifesto here but I copied it down below
principles of cripple punk: -cripple punk is exclusively by the physically disabled for the physically disabled -cripple punk is about solidarity & is open to all physically disabled people -cripple punk rejects pity, inspiration porn, & all other forms of ableism
-cripple punk rejects the “good cripple” mythos. cripple punk is here for the bitter cripple, the uninspirational cripple, the smoking cripple, the drinking cripple, the addict cripple, the cripple who hasn’t “tried everything”
-cripple punk fights internalized ableism & fully supports those struggling  with it
-cripple punk respects intersections of race, culture, gender, sexual/romantic orientation, size, intersex status, mental illness/neuroatypical status, survivor status, etc.
-cripple punk recognizes that there is no one universal disabled experience
-cripple punk does not pander to the able bodied
———————— other rules:
-cripple punk is not conditional on things like mobility aids & “functioning levels”
-always listen to those w/ different physical disabilities & different intersections than yourself. do not speak over them
-disabled people do not need to personally identify w/ the words “cripple” or “punk” individually to be a part of cripple punk
-able bodied people wishing to spread the message may only ever amplify the voices of the disabled
-able bodied people may never use uncensored slurs themselves but never censor our language
-able bodied people must always tag things like reblogs with “i’m able bodied”
-physically disabled people wanting to be a part of the movement who are uncomfortable using the slur may refer to it as “cpunk”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The thing is that there *is* an intersection between mental disabilities and physical disabilities but they are very different in my personal experience. That doesn't mean that one is worse than the other; just that their experiences are very different.
As someone who struggled as an adolescent with Ulcerative Colitis then spent my teenage years struggling with Treatment Resistant Depression, General Anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and Bipolar Type 2, followed by my twenties being taken over from having to deal with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and GI issues again I have experience with both sides of the coin.
As a teenager my mental disabilities ruined my life. I struggled with motivation, suicidal ideation, hygiene, classwork and more. I found it hard to get out of bed most days. I struggled with insomnia. I failed half my classes freshman year due to undiagnosed depression. I cannot go to some places due to the loud noises, bright lights, and more that cause sensory issues.
What I have found to be useful for my mental disabilities is Madpunk. It actually talks about ways to cope with my mental issues and solutions. It talks about the negative and positive impacts of psychiatry.
However dealing with my physical disabilities is a completely different game. I have to think about whether public events will be accessible to me if I am using my rollator or a wheelchair. I get harassed by strangers for having a disability placard. I have to gauge my stamina and weigh the cost/benefits of going shopping. I am constantly using the bathroom - missing class time. Some days I cannot physically move out of my bed due to the amount of pain I am in. It can take me days to recover if I push myself past my limits. Sometimes my knees give out on me and I collapse.
Both my mental illness and physical illness have left me bed bound before - but the experiences are completely different. The treatment for mental and physical disabilities are different. The overlap of having a physical disability and then getting a mental disability is very common.
The cripple punk movement accepts the intersection between physical disability and mental disabilities. The definition of able-bodied is not having a physical disability. But if you only have mental disabilities and are able bodied there is space for you in the Madpunk movement. Mental Disabilities can be just as debilitating as Physical Disabilities - that is not in question. Just please don't be trying to take up space in a movement where we want to focus on our physical disabilities.
The Madpunk movement is under recognized and more people should help join in and further their cause. There is so much good discussion happening there - please go check it out! Talk about your personal experiences and help develop more theory.
The end message is that all disabled people are harmed by our current system. There should be more accommodations for mental disabilities. We need to focus on uplifting all of us rather than fighting each other and missing the real enemy.

I've been thinking a bit recently about how things like Tumblr and Twitter have changed how we approach subjects and people
(cw discussion of sexual assault in media/fiction, and right-wingers and such on twitter, as well as mention of nazis)
like, maybe a decade and a half or so ago, i remember a push to never write rape into stories because there's 'never a need for it', which at the time when i was much younger, seemed like it made sense. people argued that sexual assault never, and could never, provide anything to the plot and there was no reason to include it
this is, of course, in hindsight, completely bullshit
there's no reason for lots of things in fiction. the recent thing that's being declared as pointless and unnecessary by puriteens and their ilk is sex scenes, with the declaration that they are never important, never push the plot forward, contribute nothing and shouldn't exist ever
also bullshit! it entirely depends on how something is written whether a subject was unnecessary (not always a reason to leave it out) or important to the plot and/or development of characters
but the root of 'stop putting rape in your fiction 😠' started, i think, from people who were very tired of people who treated it with no respect and offered no warning shoehorning it into things and startling victims with it
there's a line that goes: rape victims exist and can be triggered by rape in fiction, murder victims dont so that's fine
also bullshit, really, considering how many people survive attempted murder, but i can see where they were coming from with it. getting triggered out of nowhere by a rape scene you didn't expect, weren't warned for, and is written poorly at best must be incredibly triggering
(which isn't to say you cant write it poorly, or write it for a kink (especially considering a lot of the people who write it as a kink are survivors themselves and use it to cope and express), or write it for any number of reasons, it's actually just to say it should be warned for. trigger warnings should exist on every piece of media, and should be available but optional for those who dont want spoilers/warnings)
the problem is that this 'dont write rape' i think has snowballed slowly over time from 'writing rape is unnecessary and harmful' to this bizarre notion of 'depiction is support and endorsement'
i saw someone on twitter today mad that neil gaiman included the nazi minisode in good omens season 2, a minisode in which the nazis were doomed to an eternity in hell, struck a deal to get out of it, and then were, when they kept to their side of the deal, basically told they were doomed to zombify to bits on earth as punishment for being the worst ever and really, did they expect anything else considering they were going to hell? lol
but this person was really mad he'd given screentime to nazis because surely this meant something really bad about neil gaiman, like that he supports nazis or sympathises with them or something
(the minisode wasnt even written by him and cast the nazis not just in the bad light of being horrible people but also in the bad light of being incompetent idiots)
to a lot of people now, who seem to completely lack media literacy, depiction == endorsement, and i just find that bafflingly weird
similarly i've noticed a trend where observation is also endorsement? if you watch or read or listen to something or someone who has bad opinions or bad points of view, you must be bad yourself
this one i think i can trace back to twitter being twitter. for example, if i get a copy of some right wing nazi twat's book from a charity shop, and i read it to understand their point of view to better counter it, the only one i am offering any support or endorsement to is the charity shop who get a couple of quid for me buying the book from them
however, on the hellsite that is twitter, if i follow John Right Wing so i can observe his opinions and better counter them, or prepare countermeasures of some sort in an activist way, or write scripts for video essays like the kind Shaun on yt does, twitter assumes that this means JRW will get them more ad revenue - after all, someone is following him - and pushes him to more people
observation is not endorsement, but twitter's algorithm doesnt know this and responds by giving JRW more engagement and pushing him to people who may not know he's a shitbag and may internalize his messages
in this way, i can understand why when someone sees that Supposed Leftwing Youtuber follows John Right Wing on twitter, they immediately declare this is bad and proof that SLY is actually a nazi in disguise - after all SLY is endorsing JRW's bad ideology by engaging on twitter!
for the same reason, i can understand why people do their, "72 of my mutuals are following JRW, who recently posted this crap about marginalized people. block him!!!" bullshit. they dont want to be complicit in helping JRW reach more people, possibly vulnerable people, and spread his ideology
it just totally forgets that being aware of things and understanding things is one of the basic requirements of being able to fight those things effectively
to me both these things come down to the same thing that's permeating how everyone approaches, well, everything at the moment: to see something and not look away from it is endorsement of that thing. if you're watching a tv show and the tv show includes a rape scene or a nazi and you continue to watch it, you are endorsing rape and nazis, even if the nazi is shown as stupid and evil and the rape is shown as a terrible, horrifying act. if you're watching a person or a character be disgusting and bigoted and you continue to watch, to engage, to even consider maybe things could change there, you are implicitly supporting that bigotry
after all, in the world of twitter if you reply to a bigot and say, "hey, you're wrong actually, and here's sources on that" or "hey, this isn't cool, can we discuss this?", even if there's a miniscule chance that you might change things (and, after all, isn't that what, to an extent, activism is? not everyone should be expected to engage with bigots in a vain hope of changing their minds, but some people should, because if we can change even one or two minds that aren't completely rotted to the core, that have a chance of change and evolution, that's an actual real positive effect we're having on the world, and even the smallest change can grow and develop into something more, you just have to nurture the seed of it, rather than throw the entire garden away as corrupt) you are engaging with a bigot, and thusly a bigot yourself because engagement is support. engagement is endorsement.
engagement brings ad revenue and encourages the continuation of bad behavior, so it's better to stick your fingers in your ears, go "LALALA" and pretend it isn't happening at all.
i think this might also be why when a section of a fandom decides Mr Character is a Bad Person and has Innate Bigotry, if some other section of the fandom engages with that character - whether the bigotry is real or imagined - they are seen as bigots themselves, because engagement and depiction are endorsement, and engaging with such things means you support it, even if you really, really don't
on the same vein when someone says something dumb they are often written off instantly as irredeemable - much like certain media are painted as if they have one subjectively 'bad' quality - because continuing to engage with that dumb thing will likely boost that person in the algorithm and no one wants to risk being why they double down on their dumb thing so their account gets more traction in the online space
for the same reason they dont want to continue to support writers who write 'bad things' or 'irredeemable media' because gasp what if the algorithm thinks they're supporting the bad parts of the media and that means more things include that bad thing they want to see less of?
i don't have a conclusion for this, it's just some thoughts really. i think the latest iteration of the internet has completely warped how we engage with everything, to the point people act like a single thought leads to endless undoable corruption out of sheer fear of nurturing those things simply by dwelling on them
fuck twitter lmao

My brain really likes to supply me with the many ways a survivor Kiyotaka could experience angst.
ANYWAYS, Ishida and Alter Ego.
It’s very clear that, from the get-go, Alter Ego was used by Kiyotaka/Ishida as a form of coping. At first it was so that he could in a way get closure by apologizing to “Chihiro” for their death, as he blamed himself for that and for Mondo’s. Then it turned into a way for Ishida to still talk to Mondo (probably out of denial, who knows?).
And, while I know that Ishida’s time with Alter Ego would still be very short even if he were to survive, I love to think about how that sort of pseudo relationship would’ve developed were he to spend more time with the program.
Like, the only information Alter Ego had on Mondo was what Chihiro knew about him at the time. And I assume it’s less than what Taka knew. So, while the others think that Alter Ego Mondo is accurate to the real thing, Taka was bound to find some errors.
I briefly explored this idea in writing, so I’ll just use that as an example: Ishida is in the middle of a conversation with Alter Ego Mondo, doing everything he can to convince himself that he’s talking to the actual Mondo. He’s just about got it until he mentions Chuck, and Alter Ego disrupts the conversation (and facade) to ask who he’s referring to so that they could store that information away to use again during future conversation. They mean it innocently, and are not aware of how that question put a pit in Ishida’s stomach.
Were this to go on, I’d imagine Ishida try to ignore that small mistake and to to keep going like nothing happened. He continues to talk to Alter Ego Mondo whenever he can. He’s stubborn and won’t let anything stop him from talking to the one thing that resembles Mondo, even if the program itself isn’t 100% accurate at resembling Mondo.
But one mistake turns into two, and two turns into three, and so on and so forth. They can range from not knowing certain facts that the real Mondo knew, to getting information wrong, to just responding to something in a way that the real Mondo wouldn’t have. The holes in Taka’s logic just keep appearing. It becomes more evident that the Mondo in front of him is just made up of surface-level information a third party knew about him, and therefore lacked those complexities Taka knew his Mondo had.
It all comes to a head in an ugly way, Taka no longer being able to ignore that thought in the back of his head: the Mondo he knew was gone, and Alter Ego couldn’t replace him. I imagine lots of yelling and crying, maybe some furious typed messages to a confused and worried computer program who just wanted to help a friend.
But, as he winds down from his spiral, that whole thing is was pushes him into accepting what he’s been denying, as well as seeking support from the remaining students instead of distancing himself from them.
The last part is what I’m still trying to flesh out. While I like the idea, I don’t plan on fully fleshing it out in writing, as I already explored the “what if Kiyotaka survived” thing and Kiyotaka and Alter Ego’s time together would be too short to do this idea justice.
But yeah, if anyone wants to flesh this out themselves, I greatly encourage it. I’m just putting this idea out there.

Kotaku is an outlet banned by square enix right? That's what I've seen back in april at least. Im asking because there's a clerith on twitter defending aerith from her questionable attitude with barret. Then they post a clearly biased translation by kotaku of the scenes on which the video is explaining the "right" translation. Perhaps their translation is right but is the interpretation correct? I never heard aerith to be equated to having a high EQ, if she did she wouldn't be willfully making the people around her feel uncomfortable like with cloud and tifa in OG and/or in remake. She's an insult to people with high EQ, high EQ people are sensitive, careful, and wise. A side note as well, they really do love to hold onto cait sith for confirmation huh? Even if this sham directly says that cloud is madly in love with aerith, should that really hold any value at all? He doesn't even know what's up with anyone really, And for someone to be called as "to loose someone so precious" cloud went idgaf afterwards her death. He was honestly really chill, he even went snowboarding chill (lol). It even took him 2 years and a sickness to remember, "oh yeah I have survivor's guilt". So precious that he couldn't even visit her grave and decided to pop his cherry with his true love under the highwind. Whatever, the mistranslation isn't even a big to begin with, I still don't think it's good what she did and Tifa has the right to call what she did as harsh, does this girl ever know how to read people properly? She just likes to assume that she made the right choice with barret, just like how wrong she is when she thought she can save the world on her own. Aerith, people forget that she lacked so much social skills and human interaction, if she didn't, why doesn't she have any friends then? Either way these cleriths are hilarious for accusing clotis of jerking off to mistranslations, projection much?
Ps. Im so stupid to look at the comment section on that yt vid. But seeing someone say jp translation is super pro clerith just because kotaku says so is hardcore peek cope. What is it with cleriths and missing critical thinking. Cait sith, mcdo, lego, kotaku, other unofficial platforms or sources are their only confirmations? My man, that's PATHETIC af.
That's the weird clerith dude who screams "I LOVE HER!!!" every time Aerith appears right? He didn't even bother to translate the entire game, despite saying he would. He only went up to Aerith's death and acted like the rest of the game is an afterthought where nothing happens. He's also very insulting to Tifa.
His translation may be useful for those small sections where he isn't a rabid garbage bag trashing Tifa and Zack and lying about Cloud's feelings, but in general it's total shit.
And yeah, the Cait Sith thing is just lame. Who takes Reeve's robot as a valid source over Cloud literally telling Tifa she's his reason for everything? And let's not forget they fucked, live together and have kids.
SE doesn't endorse anything that kotaku idiot says. They have their own sources and those all support everything clotis say because we don't fuck up the plot. We don't need to 🤷

My most personal and intimate thoughts on Venti are so incredibly biased and based on myself but whatever
Venti is someone who places his value on his abilities, to care for his people, to keep up his bard’s legacy, to live up to Mondstadt's expectations. He is only as good as what he can give, and so Venti gives his all. His body in honor of the bard who never saw the blue sky, his voice to his children as he plays for them daily, his efforts in both encouraging the heroes into action and keeping up their spirits, and his time is given freely to anyone who seeks it from him. All of his actions are done by for the benefit of others and, maybe, to keep their eyes on him just a little longer.
He is also a character that I can very easily see myself in. A relationship early in life that defines how every other relationship is perceived, a shared grief of being other and alone from the people that used to be there, an imposter syndrome born from having expectations of great and mighty things and then struggling to meet those standards before tossing them for something that is met with little support, a strong sense of justice and free-will to the point of not understanding why certain things are allowed.
Venti is met with scorn and disapproval from most of the characters he's associated with, and whenever he is confronted by such, he flounders. This furthers his identity issues, as he doesn't seem to have lasting relationships on equal grounds, his most influential and positive relationships are with mortals. This relationships are unequal, with the power dynamic and lie that comes with God pretending to be Human. So, Venti is lonely. His relationship with Rex Lapis seems strained, neither of them regard the other particularly fondly but they aren't antagonistic. His relationship with Raiden Shogun is also distant, as they have fundamentally opposing views. He doesn't have friends that he can be emotionally vulnerable with. All his friends that he has been emotionally vulnerable with died after like fifty years. He's so mentally ill.
(It does not help that Hoyoverse cannot decide how they want him to be perceived by the fandom, as he is mocked and met with surprise whenever he is insightful in events but he is held in high regard and with kind understanding in the archon and story quests.)
So let's recap: we have self-worth issues, survivor's guilt, imposter syndrome, depression, and repressed/unprocessed emotions!!
Let's talk about his self-destructive habits. Venti is used as a comedic relief, except a handful of times when he is needed as Barbatos, the humor is found in his alcohol misuse. He is frequently seen intoxicated and looking for his next drink. I will not be going into detail about this as it's gen, but these implications are frequently seen in someone who is unhappy or uncomfortable with their present life, someone looking for an escape. He is a liar, a thief, unavailable, and hedonistic. All under the guise of freedom. I think that he truly believes that he is free in all his ways, and that he doesn't think that there's a better life simply because that life has never lasted for him. It's good for a few decades, and then his favorite human dies and he sleeps away his reopened wound of unprocessed grief. Which brings me to my second point, his frequent naps. Barbatos is known for sleeping for long periods of time, my best knowledge being his recent 500 year nap when he slept away the poisonous effects of Abyssal Magic from the corrupted dragon Durin. He is also known for napping for a long period of time after he reshaped Mondstadt's landscape and set his people free. I would diagnose him with sleeping to avoid confronting his emotional problems.
I see my own flawed coping mechanisms in the way that Venti represses his grief and loneliness, acting like a friend to all without opening up to one. I recognize his patterns of isolation and depression in the way he either makes himself busy or scarce depending on the day. He is wise, and capable of hard conversations and even harder decisions, but he is also afraid of the consequences of his actions. I see myself in the way he is willing to take on difficult and overwhelming responsibilities, but fail to do it correctly alone, as he did with Dvalin's purification in the beginning.
He is very important to me, and I hope that he is treated kindly as the game continues.

Ya know... over time... ummm... Idk how to put this cus it's gonna hurt someone's feelings.
I used to identify as endo. In my teens when I started to realize I was multiple and I started trying to communicate with them... when it still wasn't apparent to therapists and I was labeled bipolar with schizo-affective or outright schizophrenic. Back in those days, I genuinely believed I was psychotic. Things were weird. I had a lot of hallucinations, I had a lot of switching.
I was still a kid. I didn't want to believe I had childhood trauma even though I knew the kids had memories that I didn't, even though for a time I believed they weren't in there... I believed they died... I believed a lot of things, a lot of things that weren't true. I held on, tooth and nail, to the idea that we were multiple because we were just meant to be that way. The voices in my head during this really spectacular thing I went through told me so, after all.
Shit came out in my teens, and my mother eluded to the place where it happened. I still denied it. We're multiple because we always were.
In my adulthood, through a fair amount of research, I learned a lot about DID and multiplicity. I'd already been to inpatient three times, on countless meds, diagnosed with just about everything except DID. I had spoken to some therapists about it, only one ever made me feel like she believed me (my therapist in highschool).
In my mid 20s, sometime after being formally diagnosed with DID (and learning how... not great that actually is in terms of accessing mental health services), I spoke with my aunt about what my mother had told me in my teens, and she revealed the thing I didn't want to accept: I am a survivor of CSA at a very early age, my parents knew and did nothing because they didn't know what to do about it. I had a bit of a mental breakdown after that, and I think that's really when I accepted that we were what others would call "trauma-caused" or "traumagenic"... and furthermore that even my hallucinations, which I'd had since childhood, were largely a part of PTSD which had been triggered by an assault at 13, bringing a lot of my dissociative symptoms to the surface and starting the journey to communicating and vague attempts at healing that were mostly aimed at trauma that occurred in my teens.
I fell upon Paul F. Dell's work on Structural Dissociation and something clicked. I had identified that I was always multiple because I didn't ever remember not having them... I just didn't always understand what they were, so for much of my childhood (and teens), I explained them through what language I had --- as ghosts or something supernatural. I was haunted, afterall, by my own skeleton.
It made sense, and still does, that yes, I always was multiple, and that's why the endo label appealed to me and why I secretly held onto it beyond accepting my early trauma. The reality is that the trauma didn't make us, the trauma didn't allow us to develop normally. The further reality is that the early abuse was only a piece of that - that other instances of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse at the hands of both adults and my peers played a role. Being neurodivergent and trans played a role. Being queer but devoutly Christian played a role. The fire that burned my childhood home to charcoal played a role. My parents fighting and separating played a role.
And here's my point. Trauma is a wide and deep category. Maybe had things been different, if I'd had a home life where my parents were more supportive, had I been taught to cope, had I been able to talk about what I was going through and actually process it, maybe I wouldn't be multiple. Trauma is a lot of different things but it's the surface of what's really going on in a child who becomes a teen and eventually an adult with DID.
I never coped with any of the things I went through as a kid. I never processed them in any substantial way. I never healed. My brain was too full of PTSD for it to be able to do the things everyone else's brains did: unify the sense of self.
In this respect, we're all multiple as children. Being a parent, I see this everyday in my 4yo, who has two others: D & Monster. This is developmentally NORMAL for his age. It IS NOT at my age, 34yo. He is what is literally an endogenic multiple. I am not anymore. And I am not because I passed the threshold (7-10) without reaching that milestone because of PTSD, which universe willing, he will unify when he's old enough.
So here's what I'm getting to.
You can identify as Endo, and I'm cool with that. I can accept that you feel this way because I felt this way once too. I will happily accept you into spaces I inhabit that are intended for multiples. If you're multiple, you belong here.
I do have a problem with blogs promoting this like it's this... ugh... how do I say this without upsetting you? I think it encourages people to avoid processing and healing. I think it encourages people to avoid their feelings and ignore that shit in their childhood effected them. I think it encourages denial and a misunderstanding of what DID and OSDD are. I think it's harmful to everyone.
To have DID, to really be multiple past the threshold... you have childhood trauma - major and repeated stressors that you were unable to process and cope with. It's the only way this developmental milestone doesn't happen.
That doesn't mean you were physically or sexually abused. It really doesn't. Neglect is trauma. Bullying is trauma. Moving a lot is trauma. Being an outcast is trauma. Struggling with symptoms of neurodivergence or mental illness as a kid with no idea why it's happening or why people react to it how they do, or having sensory issues that no one accepts or helps you navigate (etc) is trauma. Being in a car accident is trauma. Death of a family member is trauma. Being constantly ignored is trauma. Not having enough food is trauma. Parents separating is trauma. Major illness is trauma.
There are so many fucking things that are trauma. It does not matter that you don't think it was ever "bad enough" to cause DID. Clearly it was. All it has to be is a thing child you felt couldn't be addressed, that child you couldn't cope with... so you buried it and it took up so much of your brain, that you were unable to unify (or at least completely).
You have trauma. Maybe it's not the shit movies were made of. Maybe it's not the kind of trauma that other people will readily express sadness or anger about, but it's still real and it still effected you.
No matter how you want to address your multiplicity, or how you desire to identify... you owe it to the kid you once were to tell them it's ok to feel however they did about whatever it was, and it's ok to talk about it and express those feelings.
I want you all to understand that this is a piece of healing you all need to look into - not because you need to magically unify as an adult (frankly, I think that's entirely misunderstood too), but because clearly SOMETHING effected you to make you who you are today, in all your multitudes, and you owe it to your future self to accept that you, like every person on this planet, has experienced trauma. You owe it to yourself to learn to accept that even if other people don't understand, your emotions exist for a reason and it's good and right to accept them and find outlets, which child you was unable to do.
And this goes ditto for anti-endos... or whatever the term for that is. And furthermore that those who identify as trauma-caused (etc) need to at least attempt to accept that plenty of folks who identify as endo... have DID/OSDD just like you. You can feel however you want about their identity, but the gatekeeping is toxic and it's harming the community, including survivors.
Hopefully the nuance isn't lost on... anyone.
If you need clarification on something, feel free to ask.

Having watched the entirety of the trial, also being aware of evidence and testimony in previous trials, I very strongly view Amber as the abuser. And if you do not, I ask you to hear me out.
I've had a lot of emotional responses to what I'm seeing from people around me. At the end of the day, even though I've felt some anger and disappointment at certain statements in the feminist community/feminist media about this, I still respect and care about people I've known here. And I understand some of the sentiments behind the distress and fear this has caused, particularly in regards to the way female victims are believed in this culture, especially in light of the ugliest responses this trial is getting from the right wing and assholes online in general.
That said, the truth felt very clear to me. If you have not watched the actual trial and are getting your information second-hand through media sources, I would stress the necessity of actually assessing the real evidence and testimony for yourself and coming to your own conclusions. I am saying this as someone who knee-jerk reacted to her accusations by believing her, and staying in that state for years until I actually heard her on tape and saw her give testimony.
My perspective on this is that Amber has done something cruel and damaging beyond words, not just to Johnny, but to the survivor community as a whole, and I feel that some in the feminist community are failing genuine victims in our support of her. If Amber is the abuser and Johnny is the victim, some of us seem to have decided that his claims of being abused should ultimately be believed less. We picked and chose which victim to champion, seemingly based upon what felt better and less uncomfortable, regardless of the evidence.
That is what it means to suggest that Amber's accusations should be believed over Johnny's, despite audio tape of her admitting to and minimizing hitting him, and mocking his pain. Despite multiple audio tapes of her very clearly emotionally abusing and gaslighting him when he talks about his feelings of pain and distress. I don't think I really need to elaborate in this post on how just how much her testimony breaks from the evidence and everyone else's testimony (and it certainly does), because I think the audio is just that damning enough.
An old man's use of ugly, misogynistic language in texts to other people, where he was venting his anger and pain over being violently abused, is not somehow more damning than actual recorded acts of emotional abuse and admissions and minimizations of violence on her part. it is not somehow more damning than her previous DV arrest against a woman of color who was her own wife. It is not somehow more damning than the evidence of her sister's abuse.
Imperfect victimhood does not sound like the Amber on those tapes, abusing him and admitting to violence proudly. it does not look like the completely opposite persona she has adopted for trial vs. the tapes. It sounds like a man not knowing how to articulate his trauma, and defaulting to verbally misogynistic nonsense. it looks like someone who copes with drugs. It looks like someone slamming some cabinets.
How much more does Amber need to show us who she is before we start having real conversations about what it looks like when women abuse men, and what that means in the larger context of "Believe all women?" Violence against men is a feminist issue.
And we have a real problem with perceiving that right now, folks. It just takes a glimpse at the TERF community's rhetoric to see what some feminists have to say about trans women, who they doggedly assert are men. Because in their minds, men are always the aggressors, men are always predators, even when these women are blatantly, openly abusing other, more marginalized women in the same breath as calling themselves victims. These are feminists who believe that because their victims are "men," the violence and abuse they perpetrate is not only justified, but praise-worthy. Or how some feminists use the "fragile white woman" stereotype to get away with harming and abusing and silencing more marginalized people, women of color in particular. It just takes a glimpse at our online communities, with our para-social relationships and our cyber bullying problem, and how we love to rally around the biggest assholes in our midst.
We are not helpless little angels. Our ideology does not prove our innocence. Womanhood does not prove our innocence. We do not get to absolve ourselves of wrong-doing in the name of ideological surety and comfort. We cannot rhetoric our way around the facts in order to retroactively justify our support of an abuser.
I see in Amber all of the women who have utilized the feminist movement as a smokescreen for their abuse. Amber is not our ally. She is our user. We were conned by her. And she and her PR are responsible for making it harder for women to be believed after it seemed like things were finally moving forward. They are making it harder to perceive female abusers, who are known for playing victim and entrapping their victims that way.
We are hurting. And I get that. I've known too many female victims who haven't been believed. I know first hand how it feels to have the harm done by a man in your life be minimized and ignored by others. But Johnny cannot be made responsible for the weight of our societal distress just because he was a victim and dared to say so. Even if it was against someone who claimed their own feminist heroism.

Hey, it's me again. Since your ask box is rarely open (I'm assuming to avoid trolls and idiots spamming you with nonsense), I feel there's a new problem with bigotry. It's very important.
Since Oppenheimer came out there's been discourse on if Hiroshima and Nagasaki were okay or not. Sadly too many dummies are out here saying they deserved it.
Here's some of the stuff they say as to "why"
"It stopped the war/Japan didn't surrender/An invasion would have been worse": This one I'm not gonna say is right or wrong because official sources and historians debating on these things still so whether you believe that is up to you.
THE BIG ONE I AM SICK OF: Using Japan's wrongdoings as a whataboutism dogwhistle. I'm sick of seeing people be like "But Pearl Harbor/Nanking Massacre/Southeast Asia invasions/Unit 731/Torture!". I get it, those were all awful, but the fact that you justify killing random strangers based on the actions of their military and government, when THEY'RE the actual ones at fault, is stupid and racist. They do this with Russians too and occasionally Chinese people. For them "Dictator = everyone" when it comes to dictatorships (the only one they can tell the difference with is North Korea, any other dictatorship, NOPE!)
To add to the point, many people (Americans and Southeast Asians) forget that America has been menacing them for, like, ever! Ever heard of the My Lai massacre? Just like Nanking, Americans slaughtered and r*ped Vietnamese people. The Pearl Harbor idiots forget that America literally bombed Laos and Cambodia, MULTIPLE TIMES. Filipinos still worship Americans as if America didn't actually bomb Manila when there in WW2 to target the Japanese, yet killed WAY MORE FILIPINOS IN THE PROCESS AND THE FILIPINOS THINK THE AMERICANS "SAVED THEM FROM THE WICKED JAPS". Everyone is rightfully mad that the government has "not said sorry" (they have multiple times but they were hollow because the government is very fringe and they try and make that stuff seem okay and don't tell the whole truth in schools), but nobody is mad or racist towards Italians, nobody seems to care that Italy never apologized for their actions, even the countries victimized by Italy. Even during the war nobody really cared. Despite the fact that Italy also has a very fringe government now and Mussolini's GRADDAUGHTER is in one of the parties and is a simp for her grandpa.
The worst part of all of this, I've seen critics of the bomb and surviviors actually harassed and cyberbullied by Japanophobes. Here's some of the examples: There's a trend of people calling Japanese people who don't like Barbenheimer "nationalists", "tankies", "Japanese imperialism apologists", etc, who "need to cope/get a life/cry about it", and they don't have even mercy on CHILDREN. I saw a quote from a survivor someone shared that was a father talking about watching his son die slowly in front of him. And guess what, some Filipino came along and was like "WHAT ABOUT ALL THE FILIPINO KIDS THE JAPANESE KILLED?!", and my mind was literally BLOWN. Look, that was awful, I get it. But I have no respect for you. The NERVE of you to make it about yourself. This isn't ABOUT Japan vs. the Philippines. THIS IS ABOUT AMERICA VS JAPAN. Go complain on a post about the Philippines. This is a PARENT and his SON who may I say, was 4. Yes, 4. And this fool essentially said "This 4 YEAR OLD is a soldier responsible for the deaths of my people's children!". Dude, the children had nothing to do with it. I don't support defending anyone's war crimes and that includes America, but at least those were adults. CHILDREN can't even process anything that's happening and you're mad at THEM?
America and its simps really need to stop thinking they're good nd that they can't commit war crimes. They wanted to get revenge and kill as many people as possible. They wanted to show off to Russia. They literally had internment camps for the Japanese PEOPLE which has even less excusable reasons and merit than the bombs. There's nothing else to it and no matter if worse could have happened, there's no justifying the killing civilians and children part. These fools are mad at the wrong people.
On the bright side, a lot of the people who used the first point are actually willing to admit that they killed random people and that they wished it didn't happen. And I respect those people because they actually can tell the difference or still recognize Japanese criticism and Japanese survivors and deaths were not just "tankies getting what they deserved".
Look up my reblogs for more info, and check Twitter and Youtube comments under Oppenheimer criticism videos and you'll see the racists in all their glory.
So yeah, if people like Oppenheimer that's fine, it apparently isn't trying to make the bomb seem okay, but the criticism has attracted dumbasses making fools of themselves. And people should watch movies like Barefoot Gen, Godzilla, Tora Tora Tora, and Grave of the Fireflies after for some blatantly and UNBIASED takes from Japanese people, rather than American "Icky Japanese Tankie" movies.
Honestly that whole discourse is a fucking mess rn, I ain't even touching it with a 20 ft pole

Guess who wrote an entire rant in response to an anti who tagged me in a post regarding the Stanley parable, only for it to not post because they had blocked me by the time I hit send 💀
I'm gonna rewrite it here
Tumblr media
@the-redacted-line (obvi don't harrass them, don't engage with them, i don't know the full INs and OUTs of how blocking on tumblr works but I'm hoping they'll see this)
Here's the tags they put in that post
I never was saying I want to see problematic content of TSP, there's already a few good things on AO3, I was complaining because I'm barred from interacting with 90% of the TSP fandom here on Tumblr.
The Stanley Parable is SO important to me, I can't express that enough. I actively avoid problematic fan work with it because it's not something I enjoy or seek out with this game. I just, Yk, support people who do want that!
I'm upset that I can't interact with amazing art because I'm not an asshole about made up and intangible shit. I'm upset I can't make friends with most people who enjoy this thing because I'll be called a p*dophile.
I'm not at fault for YOU seeing my proship post that was tagged with 4 different variations of "proship" solely for filtering purposes. If YOU don't want to see proship stuff, filter the tags. The filtering system exists for a goddamn reason.
I have a long list of variations of various things filtered and I never see shit I don't want to see. And when I do? Guess what's going in my filter list?
I was sexually assaulted as a child and I am haunted with terrible intrusive thoughts of sexual assaults, murder and violence. I go to therapy and I've done all the coping mechanisms in the book. Nothing has been nearly as effective as coping with fiction. My therapist and I work extensively to make sure it's not having the opposite effect on me.
Some antis argue that if it's to cope, you should keep it to yourself. I'm disabled, and I don't always have the energy or resources to create this content I need to cope with my day to day life. People posting fanfiction, Fanart, original work, and other fanwork with problematic content is almost the only way I can access this coping mechanism.
Problematic content is IMPORTANT. It's not for everyone, it's not supposed to BE for everyone. Like everytjing, it should be clearly marked, tagged and labeled so people who don't want to and shouldn't see it DONT.
There are very little problematic fanworks that aren't clearly marked. The ones aren't marked are a problem that should be addressed, but the solution isn't to ban and shame problematic content.
Proshipper doesn't stand for "Problematic Shipper", it stands for "Pro Shipping". It's supporting people who are problematic shippers.
Its an acknowledgement that fiction affects reality, but in a different way than reality affects reality. It's an acknowledgement that people can explore things in fiction without it bearing any meaning on them as a person. It's an acknowledgement that it can affect reality and make people's trauma worse, so things should be clearly marked. It's an acknowledgement that fiction can affect reality and give survivors a safe environment to work through their trauma.
Its an acknowledgement that fiction and reality are different planes of existence. They're connected in so many ways but they are seperate.
It's an acknowledgement that survivors deserve to heal. Just because my way of healing doesn't work for you doesn't mean it's disgusting and shouldn't be used. Just because it's unhealthy for you doesn't mean it's unhealthy for me.
No one is trying to say you have to want to see, make, or support problematic fictional content. All we ask is that you stop labeling it as wrong, disgusting, and unhealthy. All we ask is that people who don't like it stop harrassing and demeaning those who do.
I have no idea what this person in particular has done, I doubt they've done anything, they haven't harrassed me. I want to make that clear.
It's just hard to be on your side when your side got me in the emergency room because of the massive amount of death threats, graphic violence descriptions, and insults I got in my Tumblr ask box on a daily basis.
I rarely ship problematic ships because my hyperfixation rarely have an opportunity for them (if we ignore Rick and Morty, that's very recent and out of the ordinary for me)
But I refuse to support and be in the side of people who think fiction is so much more important than reality that I get told I deserved to be raped as a child because I thought two cartoon characters should kiss.
You may not have said that, but that's who's side your on.

It’s CMA-
I’m on my way to the zoo so if this comes off as being disjointed, it’s because I’m writing it throughout the day at different times lol.
Clover calling herself his wife 😭😍😍
The way that you wrote clover’s insecurities and thought process in a way that feels realistic and you feel sympathetic for her but are able to the see that it is still objectively humorous👌👌👌
Clover is so petty lmao I love it. I love that both of them are frustrated with the other over their poor communication skills.
Awww the tuberoses!!!! Cute, and I love that he mentions all these sweet things he’s clearly brainstormed that they could do together. I also think that Ben is not only the type of person who researches to try and find out what clover’s love language is and how to communicate it with her (spending his time looking these places up) but also that he’s the type to hear of something in passing and think ‘oh clover would love that!’. It’s very sweet and wholesome, and both of those types of loving show how much he cares.
It also shows how much he’s thinking of her and how she receives love. He’s trying all the love languages and it’s clear that quality time is the one that seems to stick, so he puts in a lot of work to make sure that she will enjoy every moment they have together and even those when they’re apart.
Oof dream going from a fluffy moment to a shockingly angsty moment is like…. Your speciality I feel like. Also clover’s. Just trauma dumping and ending things right then and there lol.
Also wow another piece of clover’s backstory… dang girl what even is her life
I love that as soon as she asks for space, Benedict immediately complies. He doesn’t push her, doesn’t ask questions; he just leaves and that’s it. That’s good on him but I’m sure it takes its toll after a while; how she completely trauma dumps and refuses to let him ask questions or anything. It’s a lot for someone to handle. I commend him, but I do worry.
Her conversation with Anthony is a very interesting look at cherie vs clover. Besides the obvious hostility and sarcasm compared to unbridled enthusiasm and naïveté, cherie was very much concerned about her husband’s finances before getting married. One of the reasons Anthony was able to get her to hesitate about Pierre was his finances after all.
Clover is a survivor though, and she knows she can do so no matter what happens, but it’s interesting how boldly she overestimates how well she could survive on her own, or if something happened to her support system. She insists that no matter what happens she’ll be fine because she’s all too aware of how things can be taken from her in the blink of an eye, and facing that prospect every single day means that she needs to cope, even if by coping she means that she’s heavily in denial.
Idk a lot of thoughts lol. I think when you’re forced to be strong for so long, you’re so used to seeing yourself as strong that you don’t realize that the weight you’re carrying is taking a toll, that there comes a point where the smallest thing could break you. That despite your strength, or maybe even because of it, you are left far more vulnerable than you ever were.
The way that she finally called benedict a part of her family (crying screaming throwing up etc)
This is also an interesting analysis of Anthony and how he doesn’t think before he acts either, or how in denial of the risks he takes he is. He’s reckless, but maybe that’s too nice of a word for him. Careless isn’t the right word; it’s more caring too much that you become dangerous. Stubborn and headstrong, perhaps.
Idk he’s a good character analysis for when caring goes too far lol, and him and clover are good examples of people who care so much that they try to control everything and end up making it all worse.
There’s also this thing called frustration tolerance and there’s a lot of research on it (I’ve probably mentioned it before). But this is basically how much difficulty/frustration a person can handle before they blow up/get irritated. The more stressed out a person is, the lower their frustration tolerance tends to be, especially when dealing with relatively minor issues.
A really good example of this is when someone who is overstimulated (maybe they’re tired, haven’t eaten, or are going through something) ends up snapping at the people around them for seemingly no reason.
Anyway when people have severe chronic stress (like ongoing trauma or anxiety or something), their frustration tolerance can be seriously messed up all of the time, especially if they never developed a proper frustration tolerance in the first place.
We see this with clover since she gets so easily frustrated and reacts so dramatically when things that might not be a big deal happen. She doesn’t or can’t regulate her emotions and it’s made worse by her narrow window of tolerance.
People (including her) can’t tell when she’s getting near her peak because a) she’s always there and b) she’s learned to mask it over the years and to hide many of the signs of her distress so that things don’t get worse. As a result, it takes someone who’s paying very close attention to her to tell when she’s about to explode, which Ben does.
You know as I’m typing this I feel like I’ve shared all of this before and I’m just rambling and repeating the same five points I make every time lolololol.
Idk lots of thoughts. It’s also super hot where I am and I’m tired so idk how much sense this all makes lol.
Anyway how are you doing?
Hi my loveeee! ❤️ I'm doing well, hbu? 🥰
She did not even hesitate to call herself that 😏🥰
I really wanted this chapter to be funny so that's wonderful to hear that! ❤️
The tuberoses! ❤️ That's becoming the flower of their relationship 😏 And I totally agree, I think he pays attention to like everything and makes a mental note to check out places with Clover later on 🥰
He’s trying all the love languages and it’s clear that quality time is the one that seems to stick, so he puts in a lot of work to make sure that she will enjoy every moment they have together and even those when they’re apart. THIS IS SUCH A GOOD POINT!❤️
You're right, Clover's love language is quality time and the fact that Benedict picked that up and finds different ways of doing it...😍
Fluffy to angsty is fun😏
Benedict doesn't want her to pull back into her shell again the way she did in the earlier days of their marriage, so he makes sure not to push her I think 😍
Yessssss and also like, Cherie has never been without money in her whole life, and though she kept saying only love mattered to her, she was used to a certain lifestyle even if she didn't realize it 😂 She was very much coddled and protected by the harshness of the real world, first by her mother, then her father and Elias, and then by Anthony ❤️Clover on the other hand never had any of those luxuries until she and Teddy moved in with their uncle ❤️
I do think that Clover has what it takes to survive in any environment, but also she is hyper aware of any and every danger around her all the time, so that's very exhausting for her ❤️
Benedict is her family yesssss and she didn't even realize what it actually means for her feelings for him 😍
Both Anthony and Clover have control issues for sure 😂
Wait wait, I didn't know about the frustration tolerance! 😱 And oh my God that actually explains a lot about me 😂 Very interesting! ❤️
Benedict is getting very good at reading her especially when she's overly stressed so I think he will be pretty understanding with her in the following chapters ❤️
HONEY OMG I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS! 😍❤️ Thank you so so much, you're amazing ILYSM! ❤️❤️❤️

BNHA Hunger Games Au
I have some ideas for a potential fanfic, but I want to hear your all takes on it before I write it.
Summary:
In one timeline, All Might one in his battle against All For One, but it was a Pyrrhic victory, because Japan lost its Symbol of Peace. However, the heroes rallied under the new number one, Endeavor, and gained a Symbol of Hope, Deku.
In another, All Might lost his battle against All For One, and his death was witnessed by all. Peace was broken, and in the chaos, the villains were able to purge Japan of its heroes, and enact a law banning hero worship/heroism. Japan was now ruled by its Symbol of Order (All For One) and Symbol of Chaos(Shigaraki). Anybody who resisted was either killed/tortured or forced into brutal labor that would break their rebellious will. As for the once upcoming heroes, they devised a plan that would punish these foolish children for standing against them, and send a message of fear to all Japan’s youth: 24 of UA’s brightest students would be forced to kill each other in a tournament broadcast to all of Japan known as the Hunger Games. The game would continue until there was only one survivor, and that survivor would ultimately become The Symbol of Despair for they had killed the next generation of heroes with their own hands, and ensured the villains rule for decades to come. Who will live? Who will die? Find out in the first annual Hunger Games!
So, this is obviously going to be a Major Character Death fic with very dark themes. Do not read if you could not stomach the Hunger Games book and/or movies, because that’s the level of triggering content to expect.
As for the general plot/characters, this will losely follow the first Hunger Games film but with a My Hero Academia setting, so there will be quirks involved. Midoriya will be the protagonist, as he is the wielder of One For All, and is ultimately destined to be the Symbol of Despair (as All For One intended since he wants One For All on his side). But, will things go as he desires, or will a light of hope shine through? Bakugou will be Midoriya’s closest ally throughout the entire thing, and it will end similarly to the movie where both he and Midoriya are the survivors, as opposed to only Midoriya. All For One cannot allow Midoriya to die if he wants One For All, so he is forced to end the game.
But, who will kill who, and which characters will survive the longest? I haven’t fully decided on this, but those with the strongest quirks and the most intelligence will survive the longest.
Midoriya: Is distraught by having to fight/kill his friends and only does it when he is pushed into a corner and has no choice. Partners with his childhood friend, and the two of them support each other along the way, but is prepared to die by his hands, because he loves Kacchan and cannot bear the thought of killing him.
Bakugou: Does not back down from a fight but only fights when attacked since he does not want to kill his friends/classmates, but he goes all-out in battle as to respect his peers abilities. Kills multiple people along the way, and suppresses his emotions to deal with the pain. Midoriya is able to help him cope with some of it, though. He fears the day of killing his childhood friend and is prepared to die for him, but will focus on surviving in the meantime.
Todoroki: Will be forced to use both quirks to their limits in order to survive and it will take more than one person to defeat him (killed by Shinsou/Monoma). Avenged by Midoriya/Bakugou.
Uraraka: She will try to avoid fighting as much as possible, but use the environment to her advantage with her gravity quirk (will be killed by Bakugou in a brutal rematch because Midoriya cannot bring himself to fight her since she was the first friend he made at UA, and this causes a rift between the two)
Mineta: Will be one of the first to die because he is neither smart nor strong and I don’t like him. Is killed by Ashido, because she always hated how he lusted over her.
Kaminari: Brain will short-circut after quirk use, and he will be killed. Jirou will be the one to betray him after temporarily allying with him.
Jirou: She will probably die earlier on, because while her quirk is powerful, many of UA have greater mobility or power than her. Will be killed by Kirishima as revenge once he finds out about her betraying/killing Kaminari.
Kirishima: He will be hard to take down because of his quirk and will be one of the ones to survive the longest. Bakugou will be forced to fight him, and his heart will be broken at killing his best friend. He will be Midoriya’s first kill, since he views it as mercy for helping his friend do what he cannot as Bakugou did for him with Uraraka earlier on.
Ashido: Will put up a great fight and injure and/or kill someone with her acid but ultimately get put down midway through. Kills Mineta for revenge against all his sexual advances on her back at UA. Killed by Yaoyorzu who can create plenty of ways to block her acid and take her down from range.
Tsuyu: Has great mobility, and an advantage in wet areas. Will spend most of the game hiding from her former classmates, running away from any attackers, and just surviving. Doesn’t kill anyone. Will eventually be killed by Tokoyami towards the end of the game, because Dark Shadow can keep up with her. (Rip Froppy. You do not deserve this.)
Yaoyorzu: Can summon any lethal weapon of choice, and her tactics make her a deadly opponent. Also creates her own survival gear, and doesn’t have to rely on as many supplies as everyone else. Is one of the ones to survive the longest. Kills Ashido who attacked her for supplies, and eventually meets her match by Iida who is too fast for her attacks to land.
Iida: Is intelligent, and relies greatly on speed. Focuses mainly on survival, and only attacks Yaoyorzu for her stash of personally created supplies. Is eventually killed by Todoroki who overpowers him greatly.
Monoma: Will be a problem because of his copy-cat quirk, and have blood on his hands (undecided). Shinsou uses his quirk on him and forces him into becoming a completely obedient tool and makes him the ultimate weapon. Copies Todoroki’s quirk to kill him. Is killed by Bakugou.
Shinsou: Is an absolute beast because of his mind-control, but mainly tells people to fight each other and leave him alone, or to give him all their supplies to increase his odds at survival. Brainwashes Monoma into becoming his ally/weapon.Doesn’t meet his end, until he encounters Midoriya who can resist his mind control.
Hagakure: Just removes all of her clothes, and remains invisible full-time to avoid being detected. Stealth-kills multiple classmates (Sato, Koda, Aoyama) Is killed by Midoriya, because Danger Sense is able to alert him of her killing intent.
Nejire: One of the Big three, and her quirk makes her adept at both range/close-quarters. Kills Amajiki, and is revenge-killed by Togata(still has his quirk because season 4 didn’t happen in this timeline).
Togata: Avoids killing for as long as he can, until Nejire kills Amajiki, and he kills her in a fit of rage. He regrets the blood on his hands and is in despair over the death of his best friends. Allows himself to be killed by natural causes (the deadly Hunger Games kind not normal ones) because he lost his will to continue on.
This is just a rough draft. Ideas are subject to change and be added. You are free to make your own versions of this story since it is fanfiction and I own neither series. Please let me know what you think and if you have any additional ideas/things you want to see in the story.

@more-than-a-princess ❤ - What's something you feel like your muse needs to work on for a relationship to happen or for a relationship to be healthy? Do you think that's possible? Or is it something that'll likely never happen? 💐 - What small things go a long way for your muse? What small favors can someone do to get on their good side? (for Shirou, either untoasted or toasted).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
❤ - What's something you feel like your muse needs to work on for a relationship to happen or for a relationship to be healthy? Do you think that's possible? Or is it something that'll likely never happen?
A common thread in all of his healthy relationships is that they all allow him to heal from his survivor’s guilt or find healthier way to cope with his trauma. Shirou believes that as he survived the fire he has the obligation of not letting a tragedy like that to happen again – all the people who died had their futures robbed, he wasn’t more special or worthy of saving than anyone else. Worse: he covered his ears and kept on walking, ignoring the plights of those who also wished to survive, while knowing that he was just as dead as everyone else. He should have died and, in a sense, he did die. And because of that he believes that he has absolutely no right of wanting anything more than he was already given and his promise to Kiritsugu meant he should dedicate his very soul to attain an impossible ideal – and the Heroic Spirit EMIYA is pretty much the “proof” he reached for the impossible and keeps on fighting for all eternity.
Tumblr media
Basically if you give him the chance of overcoming his trauma and give another purpose in life he will be the most loving and supportive partner. Shirou doesn’t feels emasculated when a girl is capable of beating his ass (in a sense he is even proud of her) and will never talk down to his partner’s interests or the things they love, he will encourage healthy habits and letting the person be the best version of themselves. He knows from experience that he can’t shield anyone from their traumas or mend broken people, but he will accept it all and be there whenever they want him to be. He coats himself in sarcasm and have a rather jaded view about himself and his ideals, recognizing how twisted he is and how unhealthy everything about him is – but he doesn’t care as long people are safe, he doesn’t care if it is a lie or hypocrisy.
Tumblr media
He needs someone that sees him either past him being to be “normal-passing” during his high school years or his sour armor of snark without patronizing him (but also not trying to sugar-coat it). It can be absolutely normal to have arguments (one of the best moments in the VN is when Shirou and Saber embrace in the rain after they argued and he comes back for her) it can happen when strong personalities and convictions clash. He needs someone who sees him for who he is and call him out when necessary.
💐 - What small things go a long way for your muse? What small favors can someone do to get on their good side? (for Shirou, either untoasted or toasted).
Tumblr media
Shirou is a simple person with simple needs. The most meaningful thing for him is to share meals: in Japanese culture it is the epitome of peaceful moment and bonding with the family (that’s why they only use sharp cutlery when necessary because any blade or spike can be associated with a tool for war). And for someone who has a deep craving of belonging somewhere, to someone…That’s a lot. He also likes small gestures: reading together, watching something, just stargazing or hanging out together. No words are necessary. Anything can become a special moment between him and his lover: brushing the hair, sparring in the dojo, anything. The mere presence of the person he loves makes his entire world brighter and every single flaw makes the person special. He loves from the bottom of his soul and will always devote himself to the one he loves.
❝ Someday, my memories of her will fade. Her voice, her actions - I might forget them as well. But even then I'll always remember that I loved her. ❞
Memories might fade. Moments pass. But he will always cherish the time spent with his special someone.

I'm a cPTSD survivor.
Every single day, for a vast majority of my life, I've been trying to cope this situation; living with complex trauma that has been inflicted on me repeatedly since I was a child. Some days I am able to function relatively well. I can work, I can do grocery shopping, I can even be social for a period of time and smile, laugh and put on a mask, so that no one could ever tell what is going on beneath the surface.
Other days I can't even get out of bed, and I spend all day dwelling in the deepest cellar of my conscious, trying to make sense of all the horror I've been gone through and somehow survived over these past years.
Today is one of those latter days. I couldn't sleep last night because of overthinking and overanalyzing all the past events that I had absolutely no control over, and how I should or shouldn't have done something different in those situations. The overthinking lead to severe flashbacks to episodes that still cripple me to the brink of destruction, and when I finally managed to exhaust myself to sleep, I had vivid nightmares about the very same experiences that I had previously tried to make sense of.
The same old story, in other words.
I woke up in excruciating agony, sweaty and afraid. But most of all I felt alone. Because having cPTSD is very often a life of loneliness, where you're constantly at war. A war that is constantly raging inside your own head, against yourself. And there is no one else there to have your back, especially when the enemy is yourself, your subconscious who is desperately trying to survive, long after the traumatic events occured.
It's not like I don't have support from friends or family either, because I certainly do, and a lot of people are quick to rush to tell me that I can talk to them when I feel like the world is crumbling around me. And I love them for it, and truly appreciate it with all my heart. But how do I even begin to explain how I feel, without dragging them down into a deep abyss of misery that is my mind.
This is not something that is easy to talk about, even to your closest and most trusted friends, and for several reasons. One being "how could they ever relate or even make sense of what I'm telling them?". How does one even begin to explain that you're fighting a never-ending battle against what essentially is yourself. A version of yourself that only exists in your head, and is trying to survive because in your own mind, you're still in danger and you need to be constantly on alert of possible worst case scenarios. Another reason is "How can I possibly burden someone I love and care about with these extremely destructive thoughts and expect them to not be so emotionally affected that it might actually ruin their lives?".
When you have cPTSD your mind constantly tells you that you're at risk of something bad happening. That's your default state of mind. Because you've been repeatedly exposed to so countless traumatic events that you never let your guard down, and letting someone in feels like either a breach in your defences or it make you feel like you are responsible for yet another persons safety or well-being, when you already struggle to take care of yourself to begin with.
I still have a long way to go with my healing process. I've only just taken the first steps on a very long road, and it's full of obstacles, uphill climbing and bottomless pits. And even if I manage to find healthy and productive coping mechanisms, I will never be truly free of these demons. I will only learn how to live with them and find better ways to fend them off on my bad days.
cPTSD and PTSD isn't something you recover from. It's not a sickness that can be eradicated. It is a deep wound, which at best can become a fading, but visible scar. Something you have to carry with you.
But just like visible scars, you can learn to carry it. And without being ashamed of what it reminds of.
And we need to talk about it, because there are thousands upon thousands out there who suffer from PTSD and who don't even know what's "wrong" with them. People whose lives are getting ruined because they don't have the proper tools they need to ride out the storm. People who hurt themselves daily, either physically or mentally, out of shame or in confusion, with self-medication or with razorblades, and thus hurting people close to them in the process. In the worst cases, lives are lost. And it happens more than you'd like to know.
They need to be seen. They need to be heard. They need to be found and they need to be cared for.
You probably know someone with cPTSD or PTSD.
