marcus flint/theodore nott headcanons
the nott and the flint family went a long way back
that was why theodore nott's older acquittance was no other than marcus flint
he remembered so well the first time they saw each other, theo couldn't be older than four or five, as his parents introduced them to each other at one of the fancy parties theo absolutely despised
marcus seemed so angry, it intimidated theo a big deal, he also seemed quite uninterested in having to babysit a scrawny little lad, so theo spent half the party following him like a kicked puppy
the next time they saw each other was at theo's mother funeral, marcus still looked angry and annoyed but he said sorry to theo who simply nodded with tears drying on his cheeks
after that, theo didn't recall to see marcus again, until he was sorted into the slytherin house, sitting down with fellow slytherin students, and theo could swear he saw marcus smile at him across the table
marcus didn't really acknowledge his existence, and theo spent the majority of the time in the library, so they didn't really interact much
they saw each other much more outside the walls of hogwarts, when their parents would meet for a quidditch match, or they were over a fancy party, marcus didn't seem as angry and theo wasn't much of a kicked puppy anymore, so they started to navigate towards each other in quiet understanding
and like that, two years passed by
in the middle of a celebration after a win against hufflepuff, marcus found himself thinking for first time that theo was a very good looking lad
and with rosy cheeks and glossy eyes, theo got shocked by the idea of thinking that marcus flint was attractive, all wide chest and broad shoulders, carrying himself in that way he put blaise zabini to shame
the first time marcus kissed him, he was angry after a quidditch practice and some bickering with wood, and he pressed theo against a wall, a lot of teeth and tongue and theo would have collapsed if marcus wasn't pressing him to the wall like that
no one spoke when the kiss broke, theo's eyes widened and his lips reddened and marcus had to leave between curses before he kissed him again
theo was there shocked, looking at the silhouette of marcus leaving while his heart tried to race his throat
marcus simply hated that theo was ice but willingness where oliver was fire and resistance
(and theo wasn't even aware of the game)
the second time marcus kissed him was in a party at the nott's manor, a lot of less teeth and tongue and marcus didn't walk away from him at all, in fact, he kept kissing him until calloused fingers found an expanse of scarred skin
theo wasn't still aware of the game, when he accidentally overheard daphne and pansy, who else, talking about marcus and oliver in the common room
(and his heart dropped to the vicinity of his feet, but he didn't push marcus away when he came to kiss him for a third time)
there was just something addictive for theo about someone wanting you, even as a spare
as there was something thrilling for marcus about things being easier, about having theo submitting to his will
like so, theo lost count of the times they had kissed after the fifth one
after quidditch practices, before exams, in the silent corners of the library, in marcus' room, on theo's couch
theo wasn't stupid enough to believe this was more than it was, than he was more than he was, but sometimes he couldn't help his fantasies to soar up in the sky
and marcus wasn't stupid to believe this was more than a game of pull and push that already have a winner, because his kisses were carved on fire on oliver wood's skin, and they were only small sparks against theo's pale collarbones
and theo didn't recall the number of times they kissed, but he remembered so well the last time
it was somewhen before the battle of hogwarts, and the tension was tangible in the air around them, sons of incarcerated death eaters, kissing the frustrations away
the war, and the after war, happened in a blur, and theo and marcus lost the contact for years
(brief notices, here and there, dead parents, trials, azkaban for life, things were bad after a war, but the taste in theo's mouth was always bitter no matter who he kissed)
years later, when a wedding invitation was dropped to his lap, theodore nott smiled a sad smile
being on the bench meant you were prepared to play the real game, but it didn't necessarily mean you would
