Hello! Could you do making out with Victon please?
With pleasure! ♡
So since you didn't request a specific format like headcanons, I decided to do a little drabble for each member, but then I got carried away so those "drabbles" turned into about 600 words per member sjfxlmxsjnlsmhgsxslkjkm - I'm so sorry if that's not what you wanted -
Also it became a bit smuttier than I initially intended, oops- Like it's not full-on smut, but I guess "suggestive" would be an understatement...
Sorry this is so chaotic, I just get really hyped about victon 💗
Note: I don't write about Chan, so he is not included in this post.
18+ content ahead!

Seungsik
The late-afternoon sun cast its light on your skin as you sat on the edge of the pool and dreamily dangled your legs into the water. "I got the towels!" Seungsik called from behind you. When you turned around, you were greeted by his wide, happy smile as he came up to you, carrying two large beach towels.
He tossed the towels into a chair and jumped into the water without hesitation. "Come join me, the water is lovely!" he said, full of excitement, while reaching out his hand. You allowed him to help you into the water and once you were in the pool, Seungsik immediately pulled you against him.
His wet hair stuck to his forehead and your faces were so close to each other that some of the drops from his hair landed on the tip of your nose. You pressed a soft kiss on his lips and then pulled away to look into his gorgeous eyes, only to be met with a mischievous grin on his face. "Is it hot in here, or is it just you?" he said while snaking his arms around your waist.
You scoffed at him, in disbelief that he could be so greasy, and you pushed yourself away from him. "If you're so hot, then maybe you should cool down a little," you replied while mirroring the look of mischief from his face. Then you pushed him completely underwater, but Seungsik immediately got his revenge as he pulled you right down with him.
Both of you gasped for air when you came up again. He coughed while you were still trying to wipe the water out of your eyes, but you both laughed happily. "That's what you get for trying to drown me," Seungsik said while he swam back to you. You gave him an offended look and splashed some water at him. "No, that's what YOU get for being so cheesy all of a sudden!" He turned his head to dodge the water from hitting his face and laughed.
Suddenly you felt his arms around your waist again as he pulled you back against him and he pressed a kiss on your lips. Before you could properly kiss him back, he pulled away just enough to look you in the eyes and grinned. "Don't pretend you don't like it..." Your felt your cheeks getting hot from his comment. You wanted to say something witty in return, but for once you were speechless.
He gently took both of your hands in his own and gave each of them a kiss, after which he guided them to his neck. Following his gentle guidance, you wrapped your arms around his neck and dug your fingers into his hair. When he kissed you again, you could feel his smile against your lips. This time you wouldn't let him pull away and you held on tightly to his neck as you kissed him back. His lips were still wet from the pool water, which just made it all the more hot to you.
His hands moved from your waist down to your hips at a pace that was almost provokingly slow. Then down to your butt and even further down to the back of your thighs, suddenly lifting you up so you could wrap your legs around his waist. "You're so hot..." you whimpered against his lips, while he carried you through the water, towards the edge of the pool. Even when he sat you down on the edge, you kept your legs wrapped tightly around him, making him chuckle a little bit. In an ideal world, you would never have to let go of his warm embrace.
Seungwoo
Seungwoo sat on the couch, reading a book when you entered the room. Aside from one of his t-shirts, you had absolutely no clothes on. He noticed you right away and raised his eyebrows in that unique way he always does. "Well hello," he said with a little laugh and he shut his book. "Couldn't you find your underwear this morning?"
You looked down at yourself as if you had no idea what he was talking about and shrugged in feigned ignorance. "Nope," you replied while you walked into the kitchen, "do you want some coffee?"
Seungwoo got up from the couch without replying and he stood closely behind you while you made the coffee. He laid one of his hands on your hip and he used the other to play around with the edge of your shirt - or rather his shirt, which you were wearing. He brought his face to your neck, letting out a little sigh while he brushed the tip of his nose against your skin. "You really know how to get my attention..." he mumbled, sending a slight shiver down your spine.
Still you decided to act completely ignorant as you turned to him. You looked into his tapioca pearl eyes and smiled innocently. "Have you had breakfast yet?" you asked.
This was enough to set him off. He took your wrists in his hands and pushed you with your back against the wall, pinning your hands above your head. He pressed himself against your body and began to kiss you passionately on your lips. A little squeal escaped you as you felt how he pushed one of his legs in between yours and pressed it against your sensitive area.
He grinned against your lips, now letting go of your wrists in order to wrap his arms around your waist and pull you even more tightly against him. Then he removed his lips from yours and brought them to your neck instead, hungrily kissing you right next to your jaw.
The intensity of his kisses and his hold on you made you weak in the knees. At this point you were glad he held you so tightly, because you might have lost your balance otherwise. Not that you minded at all. You loved to surrender yourself to him. Having him all over you was one of the best feelings in the world - as if you had a warm, loving shield around you, that also happened to be a great kisser, among other things.
He continued to kiss your neck while his slender fingers hooked themselves under your shirt and he began to tug on it. You instinctively raised your arms and before you knew it, Seungwoo had already pulled the shirt over your head and tossed it somewhere into the room. You wrapped your arms around his neck for support while his lips returned to yours again and you pushed your tongue into his mouth, making him moan happily.
"I've already had breakfast..." he mumbled against your lips. His hands moved down from your waist to your hips and you could feel how his grip tightened around your butt. "...but I'm starting to get hungry for lunch," he continued and suddenly you felt how he lifted you up and sat you down on the counter. You squealed as he pushed your legs apart and placed himself in between them. He gave you one final, intense kiss on the lips and then began to trail his kisses down from your neck to your chest, all the way down until his mouth was right between your legs.
Sejun
It was late and night. Neither you or Sejun were able to sleep, so you had decided to watch a movie together. You sat in your favorite spot; in the corner of the couch, and Sejun sat next to you, resting his head on your shoulder.
"I'm thirsty," he whined all of a sudden. You laughed a little, until you saw how he looked at you with those puppy eyes, letting you realize who was gonna have to solve this problem for him. "What, you want me to get it for you?" you asked in disbelief and he nodded sweetly.
With a groan, you got up from the couch and went into the kitchen to grab a glass of water for him and you took one for yourself while you were at it. But when you returned with the water, you saw that Sejun had taken your favorite spot on the couch. Even though he was smiling innocently, he knew very well that was YOUR spot.
"Lim Sejun," you said sternly, "you better get out of that spot right now." He grinned at you, distracting you with the exposure of his beautiful dimples and he shook his head stubbornly. "I don't want to! It's comfy..." You attempted to pull him away from your spot, but Sejun still refused to go anywhere.
Eventually you gave up and decided to get back at him by sitting down on his lap, facing the TV. He looked a little surprised, but satisfied with the outcome. His arms wrapped around your waist and he rested his chin on your shoulder again, but you weren't so keen on letting him have his way. In order to distract him from the movie, you began to grind yourself back and forth on his thigh.
Almost immediately, you felt how he slowly began to get hard and he nervously attempted to shift into a different position. By now Sejun wasn't the only one who began to get needy and you turned around on his lap so you were facing him. You cupped his face with your hands and began to press gentle kisses on his lips. He returned your kisses with the same gentleness and placed one of his hands on the back of your head, softly stroking his fingers through your hair.
You could feel a smile growing on his lips as your kisses became more passionate and you stroked his lovely dimples with your thumbs. "Why do you have to be so cute," you mumbled in between kisses, causing him to grin happily. He moved both of his hands down to your hips and held them tightly as he slowly began to move them for you, making you grind on his thigh again.
You let out a surprised moan and pulled your lips away from his to look into his eyes, which had a little sparkle in them. He was so beautiful when he smiled at you like this. "Don't stop," he said with a husky voice while urging you to keep grinding on his thigh. With flustered cheeks, you obeyed and began to move your hips with more intensity.
A satisfied smirk showed on Sejun's lips and he placed his index finger under your chin to guide your lips back to his. When you felt his tongue brush against your lips, you greedily parted them for him. Both of you let out content little moans as your kisses grew more passionate and hungry and the way you were grinding on his thigh got more desperate.
Let's just say you both missed the entire plot of the movie you were watching...
Hanse
Hanse had been rapping loudly in your ear for several minutes now. Of course he was a great rapper and usually you loved to hear him show off his talents. But not at 2 am when you were trying to sleep. You'd had a long day and wanted nothing more than to close your eyes and drift off, but Hanse still had a lot of energy and didn't feel like shutting up just yet.
He brought his lips so close to your ear that you could feel his breath on your skin as he rapped a part from Take Over and you groaned loudly in annoyance. Finally you had enough and turned to him. You roughly grabbed his chin and pulled him closer to you so you could press your lips on his to shut him up. When your lips detached, you looked him in the eyes and said "I love you very much but please shut the fuck up."
He looked flustered from your sudden kiss. There was a dark blush on his cheeks and a little giggle escaped him. But just when you thought he would finally be quiet, he began to rap his second verse from What I Said: "When I spit bars on this beat, they call it fire, go tell 'em I killed this, man I gotta go harder-"
You pressed your lips on his again and this time also pushed him down into the mattress. Without breaking the kiss, you crawled on top of him. You knew damn well that he just did that so you would kiss him more, but you didn't care. At least he shut up this way.
He grinned so much that you could feel the corners of his mouth curl up as you kissed him. He gently brushed his tongue against your lips, nearly begging for you to let him in. Though you didn't think he deserved to be kissed like that, you enjoyed it too much to refuse, so you reluctantly parted your lips for him.
He put his hand on the back of your neck to pull you even closer to him and he let out little moans as he greedily accepted your kisses. But when he got too excited, you put him in his place by pushing his shoulders back into the mattress, forcing him to stay down. A soft whimper escaped him and he squirmed beneath you in enjoyment.
After a while, you pulled your tongue back from his mouth, but didn't stop kissing him just yet. Rather than pulling away completely, you sucked on his lower lip a little and nibbled on his piercing, fully aware of how horny that made him. He squealed and bucked his hips up at you, brushing his bulge against your inner thigh.
Satisfied, you pulled away and grinned down at him. "Alright, let's go to sleep." He immediately pouted at you and took your hand in his. "Nooooo you can't do that to me! Please!" he whined and he began to press kisses on your hand. You looked down at him without saying a word, but couldn't help but smile a little. He smiled back at you and continued to press tons of kisses on your hand, moving up to your wrist. "Please," he begged, "please let me fuck you first."
You scoffed at him and let out a defeated sigh. "Fine," you groaned, "as long as you know that you don't actually deserve it after being so annoying." He nodded enthusiastically and swiftly pushed you down into the mattress so he could get on top of you. He immediately brought his mouth to your neck and began to place kisses al over it, whispering "I don't deserve you" against your skin.
Byungchan
You sat at your desk with your study materials in front of you. In only two days, you would have a major exam for a course you really struggled with. You had been studying for days already and even though it was going somewhat decently, it took a lot of effort to even understand the littlest things.
You looked up when you heard a knock on the door and Byungchan entered the room. "Hey y/n, are you coming to bed soon? It's 11 pm.." A smile appeared on your face, because having Byungchan around felt like a wave of relaxation after attempting to study for hours. But that smile soon disappeared when you remembered how much work you had left to do.
"I'm sorry honey, but I still have too much to do. I can't just stop yet. If you're really tired you can go to bed without me." Byungchan shook his head and sat down on top of the desk, right next to your study materials. "No, it's not that I'm tired..." he said while picking up your book to have a look at what you were studying. After reading a small paragraph, he quickly put it back down with a mildly disgusted look on his face. "...I just miss your company."
You took his hand and played around with his fingers. His hand was warm and soft and it became so tempting to join Byungchan into the bedroom, but you stayed strong and shook your head. "Not yet. I have to finish this first." Byungchan got up from the desk and stood behind you, laying both of his hands on your shoulders. "How long do you think you need?" he asked, while he gently began to massage your neck and shoulders for you.
You slowly felt yourself getting hotter, but you still picked up your book and returned to the right page. "I don't know honey. Another hour at least..." you sighed.
"Hmmm," was all he replied. He continued to massage your shoulders while he brought his face to your neck and pressed a kiss on your skin. You ignored him and continued to read from your book, but goosebumps began to cover your skin as he pressed more and more kisses onto your neck, while his hair tickled against your cheek.
You froze when you suddenly felt his tongue on your skin and a little shiver went down your spine when you realized he was giving you a hickey. "Hey, I'm trying to study!" You meant to say it sternly, but it came out as a pathetic whimper. He chuckled and the way his breath brushed against your skin made another shiver go down your spine.
You put the book back on the desk and stood up from the chair, turning to him. "Okay how about this: I give you 10 minutes, but after that you have to leave me alone so I can study. Do we have a deal?" He nodded and immediately locked his lips with yours, making you let out a little gasp. His arms snaked around your waist in order to pull you tightly against him and he hummed happily against your lips as he kissed you.
You were a little taken aback by his enthusiasm, but it also turned you on and you wrapped your arms around his neck in return. You slowly shuffled backwards to the desk and sat down on it, pulling him closer to you. He cupped your face with his hands while he kissed you, stroking both of your cheeks before suddenly pulling away from you with a big smirk and sparkly eyes. "10 minutes right?" he asked and you nodded. "That should be enough," he said and then he locked his lips with yours again, while guiding your hand down to his crotch.
Subin
It was a beautiful spring day and since the weather was so good, you and Subin decided to get ice cream together. The birds were happily singing their songs as the two of you entered the park with your ice cream. He got chocolate flavor, while you got vanilla. "Maybe we could sit over there," you said, pointing to an empty spot in the grass. And thus you sat down in the field together, bathing in the sunlight while being surrounded by tons of little flowers.
After finishing the last bite of his ice cream, Subin lay down in the grass and closed his eyes in satisfaction. "Are you photosynthesizing?" you asked him with a little giggle. He pouted at your mockery and opened one eye to look at you. All of a sudden, he sat back up and pointed at your lower lip. "You have something on your face."
"Oh-..." Your cheeks flushed in embarrassment and you brought your hand up to your lip to wipe off the little drop of vanilla ice cream, but Subin firmly grabbed your wrist to stop you. "I'll handle that," he smirked and before you knew it, he was licking the spilled ice cream right from your lip. "SUBIN!" you squealed and you quickly pushed him away, completely flustered.
He just laughed and even had the audacity to lick his lips. "Hmm, you taste nice. I should have gotten vanilla too," he said with a huge smirk, while you were still trying to come to your senses. "Subin, we're in public," you mumbled and you subtly tried to look around to see if anyone had noticed. "So what? People kiss in public all the time," he replied, still with a smirk on his face. "Yeah and that's gross," you murmured in response.
He chuckled and inched a little bit closer to you again. "How can love be gross?" You felt how his index finger hooked underneath your chin and directed your face towards him while he brought his lips back to yours. "I want another taste," he whispered under his breath and then your lips connected again.
Since you weren't caught off guard this time, you could clearly taste the chocolate from his own ice cream on his lips. The combination of lingering chocolate flavor from Subin's lips and the vanilla flavor from your own created a kiss that was almost oreo flavored. The sensation was almost overwhelming, but after a little while you relaxed and gave in completely.
Without breaking the kiss, Subin brought his hand to your shoulder and gently pushed you down onto your back while he lay next to you on his side, supporting himself on his elbow. He moved his free hand from your shoulder to your face and softly stroked your cheek with his thumb.
The grass beneath you tickled the back of your neck, giving you little goosebumps on your neck and butterflies in your stomach. You brought your hands to Subin's neck, stroking your fingers through his hair and soon you noticed that this gave him goosebumps as well.
After some time, Subin slowly pulled his lips away from yours and continued to stroke your cheek while he looked into your eyes. You both had the same loving smile on your face as you looked at each other like this. Then he lay down on his back as well and you rolled onto your side to look at him. "Maybe I'll have the chocolate flavor next time," you grinned.

choi byungchan x gender neutral! reader
childhood friends to lovers to exes to ??? || 8.3k (also it’s an idol! au)
I wrote this so long ago and I don't know why I felt like posting in today but here we go - I honestly genuinely think this is some of my best writing ever so uhhhhh enjoy I guess (also listen to this love by taylor swift because this was 110% inspired by that) (sorry for the bad summary)
summary: you and byungchan were always meant to be together, until he debuted and left you behind - will the two of you find your way back to each other in the end?
It was the beginning of summer when the moving truck showed up across the street. You had never been more excited in your life. At five years old, you were dying for somebody new to play with. You prayed that whoever moved in had kids your age. Thankfully, they did.
You met Byungchan a week later, while you were at the park. He needed someone to play soccer with and you were the only other kid around. Soon after that, the two of you became best friends. You were constantly outside or at each others’ houses.
Over time, your parents started joking about your future wedding. Both of you thought it was disgusting, but everyone knew you’d fall in love at some point.
You realize they were right when you’re 16. It’s the first time Byungchan mentions anything about marrying you.
He asked you to go out with him when you were 10, and you’ve been “dating” ever since. No one, including the two of you, took it seriously at first. But over the past six years, you realized your romantic feelings for him were growing and growing. Thankfully, it’s been mutual.
The two of you always walk home from school together, so when the bell rings, you grab your things so you can head to your usual meeting spot. The second you step out of your classroom, Byungchan is there.
“y/n, guess what!” The only other time you’ve seen him this excited is after your first kiss. You rush over to him and take his hands in yours.
“Did you hear back?” Your boyfriend’s wanted to be an idol for years. After countless auditions, you’re praying someone’s finally recognized his talent.
“They’ve accepted me!” You throw yourself into his arms. “I’m officially going to be a trainee.”
“That’s so exciting!” You squeeze him as tight as you possibly can. “I knew you could do it.”
“Thanks,” he whispers, bending down to kiss your cheek.
“We should celebrate,” you tell him.
“Right now?”
“Yes, right now.” You grab his hand and pull him along with you.“Let’s go.”
The first place you go is your favourite bakery. You tell Byungchan you have to have cake, or else it’s not a proper celebration. After that, you visit the mall, stopping at a photo booth. When he kisses you during one of the photos you roll your eyes, but you can’t stop yourself from smiling. Both of you put a copy of the photos in your wallets.
You’re walking around, hand in hand, when you pass a jewellery shop. Byungchan stops walking when he realizes you’ve stopped. You peer through the window, trying to see if there’s anything worthwhile.
“Want to go in?” Your boyfriend asks. You nod, pulling him through the doors.
You wander around, looking at everything. You really only wear accessories like this for special occasions, but you enjoy looking. Once you’ve seen everything, you head over to Byungchan.
“See anything?” You shake your head. He points to the display in front of him. “What if we got matching rings?”
“Are you trying to marry me?”
“Yes,” he responds. When he notices the look on your face, he immediately clarifies. “Not right now, but eventually.” You’re surprised at how casually he says it.
“Really?” You ask quietly. He places a kiss on your forehead as an answer. “So what are these matching rings for?”
“No particular reason,” he says. “Just a placeholder until I buy you an engagement ring.” You roll your eyes at that, but you do love the idea.
“I can’t wait for that day,” you tell him.
“Me neither.”
===
The second time Byungchan says he wants to marry you is when you break up.
You knew his life would get much busier once he started training, but the two of you have made it work for the past two years. Now that you’re 18 and out of school, you’re able to meet him outside his dorm a couple times a week to go on dates. When you can’t see each other in person, he’ll call you before bed and you’ll fall asleep on the phone talking to each other. You’re happy he’s still in your life despite how hectic everything is for him.
On a random Saturday, the two of you make plans to go see a movie in the evening. He said he would pick you up at 6, but when Byungchan shows up at your door after lunch, you’re shocked.
“What’s wrong?”
“y/n, I have a debut date.” The smile on his face makes your heart swell. He’s been waiting for this for years.
“You’re joking.” He shakes his head. “Oh my god.”
You step out the front door so you can give him a hug. “There’s still another three months, but this is amazing.”
“It’s what you deserve,” you tell him, reaching up to give him a kiss.
He’s so caught up in celebrating with you and his group that neither of you realize what this means for your relationship. Not until Byungchan calls you a few weeks later and asks to see you.
“What do you mean?” You’re in your room, getting ready for bed. You figured the two of you would talk for a while before you went to sleep, like usual.
“I need to talk to you.”
“Byungchan, what’s wrong?” His voice sounds serious, it scares you.
“I’m on my way to your house right now, I’ll be there in five minutes.”
“But-”
“Don’t worry, y/n.” He says before hanging up. That only makes your anxiety rise.
You try to push it away, grabbing a sweater before heading out. Soon after you step outside, your boyfriend shows up. The first thing you notice is that he’s crying.
“Baby,” you immediately run over and pull him into your arms. “What’s going on?”
He doesn’t say anything, burying his head in your neck instead. The longer you hold him, the more scared you get. You guide him to your porch, where both of you sit down on the step.
“y/n,” Byungchan says quietly. “We need to break up.”
“What?” Your voice is barely a whisper.
“Our manager spoke to me today and told me I need to reevaluate my priorities,” his voice sounds like it’s going to break. You wrap your arm around his shoulders and pull him into you again. “Apparently I’m spending too much time with you, and if I want to debut, I need to focus on the team.”
You don’t even know what to say. You just focus on Byungchan being next to you. You can’t imagine what your life would be like without him, although you knew this day would come eventually. You know all these companies have dating bans, you just never thought about how they would apply to you.
“I don’t want to leave you.” That’s when the tears start falling from his eyes again. “I love you so much, y/n.”
“Shh,” you tell him, rubbing his back. “It’s okay.”
The two of you sit in silence for a while, while you run it over in your mind. He’s going to have to leave soon anyway. Even if he wasn’t expected to travel and do shows after his debut, he’d be even more busy and definitely wouldn’t have time to spend with you. That’s what makes your heart break more than anything.
“I don’t want to do it,” he says quietly.
“Don’t want to do what?” He sits up, looking at you. When he notices you’re crying too, he reaches over to wipe the tears out of your eyes. You grab his hands and hold them tightly in your own.
“I don’t know,” he answers honestly. “I just don’t want to lose you.”
“You can’t let this opportunity go to waste,” you say. “The boys need you.”
“You need me too.” You give him a small smile.
“Byungchan.” You look right into his eyes. “I love you.”
“I know.” He rests his forehead against yours. “Why is this so hard?”
“Because it’s important to you,” you tell him. “You’ve wanted to be an idol longer than you’ve wanted me.”
“That’s not true,” he responds, right away.
“Don’t be silly.” You run a hand through his hair. “I always knew you’d have to leave.”
He moves away so he can press a kiss to your forehead. “I can’t break up with you like this. I want to do it properly.”
“Is there a proper way to break up with someone?”
“I just want one last night with you before this is over.”
“I’d like that,” you say quietly.
“I wish I could stay with you right now,” he rests his head on your shoulder. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to fall asleep without you.”
When his voice breaks, you almost sob on the spot. You’ve only seen Byungchan cry a handful of times in the 13 years you’ve known him. He doesn’t like anyone seeing him upset, so seeing him so emotional breaks your heart. Especially knowing it’s because of you.
“It’ll be okay,” you try to reassure him, and yourself. “We’ll make our last night worth it.”
“Okay,” he says, getting up slowly. “I guess I should go back now.” You nod awkwardly as he helps you up.
“I love you.” You give him what’s meant to be a quick kiss, but he kisses you deeper than you expected.
“I love you too,” he whispers back, wrapping his arms around you. “I’ll see you soon.”
“Go on,” you tell him, pulling away after a few seconds. The longer he stays, the more it’ll hurt when he leaves. “Go make me proud.” He smiles at that before kissing you again.
“Goodnight y/n.” He’s trying to act like this is any other night, but you can hear the pain in his voice.
“Goodnight my love.”
You watch as he fades into the distance, making sure he’s completely gone before you make your way back inside to your bed. The first thing you do is take a sleeping pill so you can fall asleep quickly, not having to think about this living nightmare any longer than necessary.
While you’re asleep, dreaming of Byungchan, he texts you.
Byungchan: I’m sorry
Byungchan: I love you
The following weekend, you get the house to yourself. You had completely forgotten about your distant cousin’s wedding. They live about an hour away, so your family decides to stay the weekend there. When you pretend to be sick, they’re concerned, but eventually decide to let you stay home alone. If you’re acting weird, no one notices or calls you out on it. You’re extremely grateful.
When you tell Byungchan, it’s bittersweet. You’ve been dreading your final night together, but you’re also happy you can enjoy this time with him. Neither of you plan anything particularly special, but he says he’ll bring you food.
That Saturday, you spend your time decorating the living room. You wish you had a balcony to make this truly romantic, but you’ll work with what you have. You set up lights and hang up sheets to create a fort of sorts. It doesn’t turn out as pretty as you hoped it would, but you know Byungchan won’t mind.
He shows up at 7:00, like he said he would. When you open the door, you immediately wrap your arms around him. You haven’t seen him at all this past week. It feels insanely weird, but you know it’ll be your reality after today. You may as well get used to it.
“I missed you too, y/n.” You pull away, realizing Byungchan’s carrying some take out boxes. You help him with them, leading him inside to the living room. When you put the boxes down on the coffee table, you realize where they’re from.
“Wait,” you say, turning to him. “Our first date.” He nods, smiling at you.
“I thought it would be nice.”
“It is,” you tell him.
You get nervous while he looks around the room, taking in your mediocre decorations. It’s not like you to be anxious in front of him, but considering the circumstances, you find yourself shaking.
“This is really cute,” he says.
“You think so?” He nods. “Should we eat?”
The two of you sit on the floor inside your fort and dig in. You’re trying to act like normal, like this isn’t the last time you’re going to see him. You shake that thought out of your head while you eat. Byungchan tells you about his week, and the plans for their debut. You nod here and there, genuinely interested. Although it hurts, you can hear the excitement in his voice and you’re extremely happy for him.
After you finish eating and cleaning up, Byungchan pulls you onto the couch with him. You cuddle up to him, noticing that he’s holding you tighter than usual.
“What are you thinking y/n?” He asks quietly.
“I miss you already,” you answer, honestly.
“We’ll find our way back to each other someday.” You shake your head.
“Maybe,” you say. “But I don’t want both of us to let our lives pass us by thinking that. You deserve to be happy, regardless of if I’m there. For all we know, we may never see each other again.”
“Sh,” Byungchan says, kissing you to shut you up. “Don’t say that.”
“I hope you’re right,” you tell him. “I really do.”
He intertwines his fingers in yours, kissing you again. The two of you sit in silence for a little while, while he plays with the ring on your finger.
“I was supposed to marry you,” he says, mostly to himself. “I have the ring and everything.”
“You what?”
“I brought it, if you want to see.” You hesitate. You know you’re going to cry at some point today. Why not now?
“I do.”
You watch as he gets up and crosses the room to where his jacket is. He grabs the box out of the pocket and comes back. When he hands it to you, you shake your head.
“Can we pretend?” You ask quietly. “I just want to know what it would have felt like.”
“Sure,” he responds. You sit up on the couch so you’re facing him properly. “I didn’t have a plan or anything, I was just planning on doing it whenever the moment felt right.”
“That’s sweet.”
When he gets down on one knee, your eyes fill up with tears. You’ve been imagining this for ages, but you never thought it would be like this. Seeing Byungchan like this makes you so incredibly happy, but then you remember it’s not real, and your heart breaks all over again.
“I’m not sure what I would have said either,” he admits, “but I’ve wanted to marry you since we were seven. I didn’t even know what love was, but I fell off my bike and you walked me home, and I thought that maybe that was it.”
You remember that day. Byungchan had scrapes on both of his knees. It was the first time you ever saw him cry, but you didn’t laugh. You just held his hand and walked him back to his house. Then you stayed until he felt better.
“I was right, of course,” you smile as he continues. “It’s almost like there’s some invisible string of fate tying us together. I’ve always known I’m meant to be with you.”
You want to say me too but you know you won’t be getting your happy ending. You keep quiet and wipe the tears out of your eyes.
“y/n, I love you more than anything, and I know I’ll never love anyone else this much.” He opens the box. “If things were different, would you have married me?”
“Without a doubt.” He holds the ring out to you.
“Do you want to wear it?” Now his voice sounds like it’s going to break. You move your promise ring from your left hand to your right hand.
“You do it.” As he slides the ring onto your finger, you try not to cry again.
Once he sits next to you again, you take a look at it.
“This is gorgeous,” you tell him.
“I try my best.” You smirk at that. “I wish it actually meant something.”
“It does.” You give him a quick kiss.
The two of you spend the following hours on the couch. You go back through all your memories of each other, from when you met all the way up until now. There’s lots of laughter, but some tears. Although it hurts, you can’t ignore how lucky you are to have even been with Byungchan in the first place.
Around 2am, you’re both falling asleep. Before you pass out completely, you drag him upstairs to your room with you. You throw your phones on the nightstand and immediately fall into bed. As soon as you’re lying down, Byungchan’s arms are around you again.
You close your eyes, resting your head against his chest. As you breathe him in, you try to memorize everything about this moment. Your biggest fear is forgetting what it feels like to be in his arms.
“y/n,” he whispers. You feel his arms tighten around you. “Tell me not to go.”
“Don’t be silly.”
“I’m not being silly.” You move so you can look at him. As you sit up, he grabs your hands in his. “If you tell me not to do it, I won’t. I’ll tell them I changed my mind.”
“Sh,” you say, running a hand through his hair. “Why on earth would I do that?”
“Because you love me.” You shake your head as he sits up himself.
“I do love you,” you tell him. “That’s why I’m letting you go. It would be selfish and stupid of me to ask you to stay.”
“No it wouldn’t.”
“Byungchan,” you say quietly. “I know you’re scared.”
“Of course I’m scared-”
“Not about losing me,” you cut him off. “About debuting.”
He stays silent for a second, avoiding your eyes.
“Everyone will love you,” you reassure him.
“What if I’m the least popular member of the group?” You hit him. “I’m serious. All the others are much more talented than me.”
“Shut up,” he smiles. “You’ll always be my bias.”
“Good.”
“Who wouldn’t want to bias you?” He kisses your cheek. “In addition to having a lovely voice and great dancing skills, you’re sweet, and funny, and kind, and adorable.”
“Tell me more y/n,” he says, nuzzling his face in your neck. You roll your eyes. “Thanks.”
“You’ll be fine,” you tell him. “The boys will take good care of you. I trust them.”
“Me too.”
“There you go,” you settle back into his arms, laying down again. “It’ll be great. I have faith in all of you.”
“I hope you’re right.”
“I am,” you tell him. “Now go to sleep.”
“Fine,” he says, laughing. “Goodnight y/n.”
He reaches over to turn the light off, before pulling you closer. Once you’re comfortable, resting against his chest, you close your eyes.
“Goodnight Byungchan.”
When you wake up the following morning, Byungchan is still fast asleep. You stay in his arms as long as you possibly can. You can’t believe this is the last time you’ll see him for who knows how long, maybe ever. The longer you can make it last, the better.
You’re falling asleep again when his ringtone starts playing from the nightstand. Both of you jump up, shocked by the noise.
“Sorry,” he says to you, sitting up in bed. You sit up as well, staying close to him. You rest your head on his shoulder, closing your eyes again.
“Hello,” he says into the phone. You’ve never met any of his managers, but you can tell it’s one of them. “What time do you need me there?”
While he talks, he takes your hand in his. You think back to your middle of the night conversation. Begging him to stay doesn’t seem like a terrible option right now. You don’t know what you’ll do once he’s gone and you have to return to your empty bed.
He’s on the phone for quite a while. You try to tune his voice out, hoping he doesn’t have to leave just yet. When he hangs up, he squeezes your hand.
“y/n, I’m sorry.”
“You have to go.” It’s not a question. You can just tell.
“Yeah.”
“I mean you were going to eventually.” You say, trying to act like it doesn’t bother you. “Come on,” you tell him, getting out of bed.
Neither of you speak as you get up. Byungchan grabs all his things from around your room, stopping to look at every picture you have of both of you. The entire history of your relationship is scattered around your walls. He picks up the photo of the two of you the day you bought your promise rings.
“You should put this in your wallet.”
“What?” You ask, pulling on a clean shirt. It’s one of his, of course.
“That’s where I keep mine.” You walk over and take it from him.
“I will.” He smiles at you, and it almost breaks your heart. You poke his dimple, trying not to think about how that’s probably the last time you’ll get to do it.
“Good.”
Within minutes, he’s got all his things and the two of you are standing at your front door. You’ve already told him you won’t walk him to his dorm. Both of you agreed it would be best for him to say bye here.
“y/n,” he says as the two of you stand in the doorway. “I don’t know what to say.”
“Me neither,” you tell him. “Good luck? Not that you need it.”
“Thanks.” Both of you are extremely awkward. “Are you still sure you don’t want me to stay?”
You nod slowly. “Go live out your dreams. You’re going to be amazing.”
“I hope you get to do the same thing,” he says. “I just want you to be happy, y/n.”
“I will be,” you reassure him. “Not any time soon, but one day. And so will you.”
“Yeah.” He pulls you into his arms. You hug him back, tighter than you ever have before. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
You hold onto each other for as long as possible. When you finally pull away, he gives you a kiss. Your last one.
“Go,” you whisper, when he doesn’t move away. “The longer you stay, the harder it’s going to be.”
“You’re right.” The second his arms aren’t around you anymore, you feel cold. “I guess I should.”
“Good luck,” you say, as he steps outside. You follow him, standing on your porch. The same one where he picked you up on your first date. The same one where he told you he was breaking up with you. And now it’s the one where you’ll say your final goodbyes.
“You already said that.”
“I love you.” He smiles.
“You already said that too.”
“Sorry,” you say, trying not to cry as you say your next words. “Goodbye Byungchan.”
“Bye y/n.” He leans and kisses your cheek before turning away. He’s fighting back tears as well.
You watch as he walks down your street, further and further away from you. You keep hoping he’s going to turn around and run back, but you know that would make this harder.
As his figure becomes smaller and smaller, your heart breaks even more.
When he turns the corner, you know he’s really gone. You can’t help but fall to your knees as your emotions overtake you. You have no idea how long you stay there, sobbing on your front porch.
Eventually you find the strength to stand and go back into your house. Once you’re in your room, you pick up the picture from the photo booth again. The two of you look so happy. That version of you could have never predicted this is how your love would end.
You consider putting it in your wallet, like you said you would, but you know that would just break you every time you saw it. You put it in your drawer, so it’s completely out of sight. You’ll have to do the same with all your other pictures, but you can’t find it in you right now.
As you close the drawer, you remember the engagement ring on your finger. You pull it off, throwing it in as well. Then you slam the drawer shut so hard, you jump. You don’t care, you just don’t want to see that ring again.

The third time you hear Byungchan talk about marriage is years later, while you’re out having dinner with your friends.
You haven’t spoken to him since the day he left. A month later, you left your hometown and never looked back. You couldn’t stand walking past the places you used to go together and remembering all the moments you shared. When the opportunity to leave came up, you took it right away.
Now, five years later, you’re someone completely different. You’re 23, in a new city, where no one you know is aware of your past with Byungchan. You’re just somebody who moved here for university and decided to stick around afterwards. Some of your friends are Victon fans, but whenever they talk about them, you smile and say their music isn’t really your thing.
All of you decide to go out on a Friday night, just for the hell of it. You’re sitting in the booth at the back of the restaurant when one of your friends notices the TV in the corner.
“Look,” she says, “it’s that band you like.” All of your heads look up.
“Oh my god, Hanse looks so good!” One of your other friends says. You roll your eyes, pretending you don’t care. But when you catch a glimpse of Byungchan, you can’t ignore the longing in your chest. You do miss him from time to time. More often than you’d like to admit. Especially when he smiles like that. You remember when you used to be the reason for that look on his face.
“Turn it up please,” someone says to the bartender. Once the volume’s loud enough, all of you go quiet.
You haven’t been keeping up with the group recently. You know they had a comeback recently, as your friend had spoken about it a few weeks ago. It only makes sense they would be doing interviews as a part of their promotions.
“I’m sure you get this question a lot,” the interviewer says. “But if you weren’t idols, what do you think you’d be doing?”
You listen as they go down the line, trying to guess what Byungchan’s answer will be. For as long as you can remember, he wanted to be an idol. You’re sure he mentioned something else when the two of you were young, but it doesn’t come to mind now.
“And you, Byungchan?” You flinch at the mention of his name, trying to focus on something else. You take the promise ring off your finger and start fiddling with that to distract yourself, but then you remember where it’s from.
“I was actually dating someone before we debuted,” you hear him say. That makes you freeze. “If I weren’t an idol, I think we’d be married by now.”
“That’s so cute!” One of your friends says, but you ignore them, keeping your eyes glued to the screen. “Bless his heart.”
“Do you keep in touch?” The interviewer asks. Byungchan shakes his head. That’s when you notice him twirling the ring on his own finger. You’re shocked he still wears it after all this time.
“We haven’t spoken in years.” He shrugs it off and smiles though. “I’m sure we’re both living out our dreams. They just didn’t happen to include each other.” To anyone else, it would seem like he’s just speaking normally, but you notice the minor shakiness in his voice. Thankfully, Subin’s next to answer and quickly shifts the attention to himself.
“That’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard,” your other friend says.
“I hope they find their way back to each other someday,” another one replies. You stare at the table in front of you. “Did you notice that ring on his finger? I wonder if they had matching ones.”
At that exact moment, your own slips out of your hand and onto the floor. Someone reaches down and grabs it for you. Before he hands it over, he hesitates.
“Hey, your ring kind of looks like his, y/n.” You smile awkwardly, taking it back. “Are you sure you aren’t his long lost lover?”
“Tons of people have silver rings like this,” you say, trying to keep your cool. “You should get one too.”
Another friend suggests all of you get matching ones, which makes everyone laugh. Soon after, your food arrives.
You pray no one notices how quiet you are for the rest of the night.

The wedding invitation arrives on a Thursday. You’re grabbing the mail from your mailbox when you notice a slightly bigger envelope. When you pull it out, you’re confused. There’s no return address on it, but it’s definitely addressed to you.
Once it’s opened, you see it’s from a high school friend back home. The two of you have kept in touch since you left, but you wouldn’t consider yourself to be close friends. She messages you sometimes, just to check in, but you haven’t seen each other in person in years. You’re surprised she thought to invite you. She must have gotten your address from your family.
At first, you don’t want to go. The only time you go home is during the holidays, otherwise you avoid it at all costs. Your family does miss you, but they understand you have a life of your own now. You’d hate to admit the memories of Byungchan still haunt you. They’re the main reason you still hate going back.
However, your friend calls you the following week, specifically asking you to attend the wedding. She thinks it would be nice for everyone to see each other again. You can’t argue with that. She was always a good friend to you, helping you with homework whenever needed. She was also one of the very few people you spent time with outside of school. It’s impossible to say no, so by the end of your phone call, you agree.
You book a train ticket right after. You decide to go the day before the wedding, then you’ll spend three days in your childhood home, and take the train back on Monday.
On your train ride over, you stay on your laptop the whole time, focusing on your work. In the past few days leading up to your trip, you’ve noticed yourself growing jealous. The thought of going home, and seeing the places you used to go with Byungchan, has been painful enough. But then you think of the wedding and the engagement ring that’s still in your desk and it hurts even more. It was supposed to be you and Byungchan getting married, not someone else.
When you get home, your family is elated to see you. You put your things away and spend the evening with them, catching up on all you’ve missed since your last phone call. When you go to bed, you’re too exhausted to think of anything else and fall asleep right away.
The following day, you spend the morning getting ready for the wedding. You haven’t seen your school mates in years, you have to make an effort to look great. The entire point of you moving away was to become someone new and improved. You need to make that evident to your former peers as well.
You leave your house at the last possible minute, not wanting to arrive any earlier than necessary. The last thing you want is to have to make awkward small talk with people you have nothing in common with anymore.
When you arrive at the venue, you take a seat in the back, trying not to be seen. It’s times like these when you regret cutting ties with everyone in your hometown. It would be great to have somebody to sit with and talk to right now, but you sit awkwardly instead, focusing on the ceremony pamphlet in front of you.
Although there is the small hint of jealousy in the back of your mind, you can’t deny it’s a beautiful wedding. You vaguely remember the groom from high school. He’s a few years older than you, and he and your friend started dating once you had graduated, so you never spent much time with him. He seems nice though.
When it’s time for the reception, you choose a seat in the back again. You wish you could get something from the bar, but you’ll be driving. You sit and distract yourself with your phone instead, texting your friends back home.
After a while, you decide it might be a good idea to be sociable. You glance around the room, trying to see if there’s anyone you know. That’s when you spot a familiar face on the other side of the room.
You have to be hallucinating. There’s no way Byungchan is here. He’s got more important things to do. He’s an idol, he can’t be coming to some random classmate’s wedding. Sure, he was close with the bride as well, but not close enough to attend something like this.
You shake the idea out of your head, refusing to look in that direction again. You need air. There’s a balcony overlooking the garden where you’re all gathered. You grab your things and head there as quickly as your feet can take you.
Once you’re up there, you lean against the railing, trying to calm yourself down. You’re wrong. It’s definitely not him. There’s no way.
You don’t know why it makes you feel so anxious. Even if it is him, what’s the worst that could happen? Your mind starts to run through all the possibilities. What if he’s dating someone else? What if he’s going to marry someone else? You feel like crying.
As you try to take deep breaths, you can hear footsteps behind you. You ignore it, figuring it’s someone random looking for the bathroom or something.
“y/n, is that you?”
You spin around so fast, it almost makes you dizzy. When you see Byungchan standing in front of you, you’re at a loss for words.
“Are you okay?” He asks, rushing to your side. “You look kind of frazzled.”
“I’m fine.” You shake your head. “I’m just surprised to see you.”
“Is that a happy surprised or…?” He looks scared too.
“I’m not sure yet,” you admit. He smiles at that.
“Should I get you some water or something?” Byungchan moves to head downstairs again, but you grab his arm before he can. The contact makes both of you freeze for a second.
“I’m okay.” You quickly drop your hand. “Thanks though.”
You have no idea what to say to him. Although you hoped you would see him again, you never thought it would actually happen.
“Are you having fun?” Byungchan asks suddenly. You look over at him. He’s just as lost as you are. That’s reassuring.
“Not really,” you tell him. “I haven’t spoken to any of these people in years.”
“Me neither.”
“I know that,” you say jokingly. He smiles, which makes you feel much more at ease. It’s awkward for both of you, but you’ve known each other for almost 2 decades. You shouldn’t be so concerned about what he thinks.
You ask him if he went to the ceremony. He says no, he only got here this morning. You want to ask why he bothered coming in the first place, but something holds you back. The two of you talk about how pretty the reception is and how they planned it really well.
“I wanted a photobooth at my wedding too,” you say without thinking. Byungchan glares at you.
“You got married?” You shake your head quickly.
“No, no,” you reassure him. “I wanted to get married but…” You hesitate. “I don’t anymore.”
He stays silent, realizing what you mean. You wonder if it’s been the same for him. Over the years, you’ve thought about dating again, but you could never bring yourself to do it. You never wanted to be the kind of person who’s hung up on their ex for years after, but you just can’t move on from Byungchan. Your heart won’t let you.
After a few minutes of awkward silence, he decides to break the tension.
“Have you been keeping up with our new comeback?”
“I saw the music video,” you say, deciding to wind him up. “Seungsik’s looking nice these days. You know he’s my bias, right?” Byungchan smirks. The fact that you can still make him smile makes you insanely happy.
“No, he’s not.” He moves closer to you, so both of you are looking out at the party below.
“Shut up.” You bump your shoulder against his.
“Really though,” Byungchan breaks your thoughts. “What did you think of the album?”
“I didn’t listen to it,” you answer honestly. “Not even the title track.”
“What?” He looks shocked. You shake your head.
“I haven’t listened to any of your music since your debut.” You avoid his eyes.
“Why not?” He sounds upset.
“It still hurts,” you say quietly, glancing over at him. Byungchan looks away.
“If it makes you feel any better,” he replies after a few seconds, “it hurts for me too.”
Your heart almost jumps out of its chest. When you saw him wearing his ring on television, you suspected he still thought of you. You didn’t think he would admit it.
“Really?” He nods.
“That’s mainly why I came today, because I wanted to see you again.”
“What if I wasn’t here?” You ask.
“I know you’re close,” he gestures towards the bride, who’s dancing with her husband. “You wouldn’t miss this.”
“You’re right.”
“I know you better than anyone, y/n.”
“I missed you.” You say it without even thinking. Byungchan smiles at you.
“I missed you too.” You feel a rush of affection for him. The two of you stand there in silence for a second, watching the crowd below. There’s a couple you remember from high school, sitting at a table off to the side laughing together.
“That should’ve been us,” you say, mostly to yourself.
“It still could be us.”
“Choi Byungchan,” you turn to face him. “Are you asking me out?”
“Yes.” He doesn’t hesitate. “You’re not dating anyone, are you? I’m sorry if you are-”
“I’m not,” you reassure him.
“Good.” That makes you both blush.
“Don’t you have promotions to do? Surely the team needs you back quickly.”
He shakes his head. “I’m still home for a few days. I told them I wanted to spend some time with my family.”
“That’ll be nice for you,” you say. “I hope they’re all doing well.”
“I’ll tell my mum you say hi.” That makes you smile. She was always extremely kind to you whenever you were over, going the extra mile to make you feel like it was your home too. When you told her that wasn’t necessary, she would scold you, saying she was going to be your mother-in-law one day.
“When are you taking me on a date then?” You ask. Byungchan’s face lights up.
“Whenever you want.” You want to say right now, but you figure that’s ridiculous.
“Tomorrow?” He nods. “Afternoon?”
“Mum might want to do something, but when I tell her I have plans with you, I’m sure she won’t mind.” You smile at that. “I’ll text you once I know what’s going on.”
“You’d need my number for that.” He grabs his phone out of his pocket, handing it over.
“Go on then,” he says. It’s still locked. You don’t even think twice, using his password from high school. As soon as you type in your birthday, his home screen pops up.
“You still-”
“Yeah,” he whispers. You want to kiss him right then, but you shake it out of your head. That would be incredibly dumb.
You find his contacts and scroll through, wondering if he still has you saved. If his password is your birthday, surely he hasn’t deleted you. When you find your name, there’s still a red heart next to it.
“You’re joking,” you say as you press edit and type in your new number. “You’re ridiculous, Byungchan.”
“Why are you blushing y/n?”
“I’m not.” You hand his phone back.
“Let me see my name in your phone then.” You shake your head. There isn’t a heart next to his name anymore, but your password is his birthday too. You never bothered changing it.
“I deleted your contact card,” you lie. He ignores you, unlocking his phone to send you a text. When your phone vibrates, he smiles.
“Now you can make a new one.”
The two of you stay on the balcony a little longer. You catch him up on what all of your classmates have been doing. Although you haven’t spoken to any of them recently, you follow them on social media. You’ve been keeping up with who’s married and who’s had kids. He finds it crazy that a lot of your classmates are already parents.
Soon after, Byungchan has to leave. It’s getting quite late, so you decide to go as well. Both of you quickly say bye to the bride and groom before heading out. Once you’re in the parking lot, you turn to face each other.
“Do you need a ride home?” You shake your head.
“Do you?”
“I brought the car.”
“You haven’t been drinking, have you?” You ask quickly. “I didn’t see you with anything, but I just want to make sure.”
“All I drank was water, don’t worry.” He smiles at you.
“Okay, good. I don’t want you getting hurt.”
“I won’t,” he tells you. “Especially not before our date.” You roll your eyes at that.
The two of you stand there awkwardly for a second. You aren’t sure if you should hug him, or just say bye and head to your car. You wait for him to make the first move, but he looks just as conflicted as you do.
“Alright, bye y/n,” Byungchan says, finally.
“Bye.” You decide to bite the bullet and pull him in for a hug.
He seems a bit startled at first, but when you wrap your arms around his neck, he holds you tight. He smells just as good as you remember. You can’t believe you haven’t held him like this in 5 years.
“I missed you so much, y/n.” His voice is so quiet, you barely hear him.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, alright?” You say as you pull away. He nods, his arms lingering around your waist for a second longer.
“Good night.” Byungchan grabs his car keys from his jacket before heading towards his car.
As you watch him leave, you realize you haven’t felt this happy in a long time.
===
You feel like a teenager again. You spent the entire night fretting over what to wear and what to do on your date. Byungchan might have something in mind, but because you decided so last minute, you want to have a back up plan yourself. You’re sure whatever you do will be great, because you’ll be with him again, finally.
He says he’ll be over at 2:00, so you sit by the window at 1:45, waiting for him to walk up your driveway. When you see him, you run away quickly, hoping he didn’t see you watching. You want to open the door, but you don’t want to seem so desperate. You wait for him to ring the doorbell, then wait a full minute before answering.
“y/n-”
You don’t even let him finish, throwing yourself into his arms again. You hug him tighter than you did yesterday. Byungchan doesn’t seem to mind, holding you close.
“You good?” He asks, once you pull away. You nod, quickly locking the door behind you.
“Where are we going?”
You wind up at your favourite bakery. It’s the same place you had cake the day Byungchan became a trainee. He orders the same thing you had back then. As you sit in the corner, he tells you what his life’s been like since he left. It doesn’t hurt as much as you thought it would.
You ask about all the members, which Byungchan finds surprising. He didn’t expect you to remember so much about them. He says they’ll be happy to hear from you. You don’t know how to feel about that, but it makes you smile.
When you’re finished there, the two of you wander around for a while. You’ve both decided to avoid crowded places like the mall. Lots of people know this is his hometown, and you don’t want him to get swarmed by fans. You do run into a few on the street.
Byungchan stops to say hello and take pictures. You hang back, not sure if he wants to be seen with you. Rumours might spread, and you don’t want to get him into any trouble.
You watch from a distance as he talks to them, asking how long they’ve been Victon fans. It turns out they’re students. They go to the same high school both of you did. Byungchan’s so excited when he learns this. His smile’s bright to begin with, but he lights up even more when they tell him.
After about 15 minutes, they say goodbye. They wish him good luck with the comeback and he wishes them good luck with school. As they walk away, he rushes back to you.
“Sorry about that,” he says. You shake your head, smiling.
“Don’t be sorry,” you tell him. “You just made their day.”
You glance behind you, where you see the group all on their phones. They’re probably sending their friends the photos. You know you’d do the same if you’d met an idol as a teenager. One of them looks up and sees you watching.
“Let’s go.” Byungchan snaps you out of your thoughts, taking your hand in his. It catches you off guard, but you don’t mind.
You spend the next few hours wandering around, hand in hand. The two of you reminisce about your relationship, talking about a lot of your past dates. It’s nice to know he remembers everything as vividly as you do. In fact, he remembers some things you forgot.
Eventually, you wind up at the park near your old elementary school, where Byungchan asked you to go out with him, 13 years ago. That’s probably why you were both drawn here.
You sit on the grass, laying your jackets underneath you. There was a convenience store a block back, so you grabbed some snacks. It’s about dinner time now. You assumed Byungchan would want to go back to eat with his parents, but he hasn’t said anything about going home. You aren’t going to, you’re having too much fun with him.
“I missed this place,” he says, in between sips of his drink.
“Me too,” you reply. “There’s a lot of places I haven’t been back to because I didn’t want to go without you.”
“What do you mean?” He takes your garbage, tossing it into the bin a few metres away. He misses, which makes you laugh. You get up and throw it away for him.
“I’ll pretend that didn’t happen, don’t worry.” He smiles. “You’re everywhere I look here, that’s why I had to leave.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” you admit. “I just couldn’t stand the thought of being here without you.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Why are you sorry?” You ask. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“I know, but still. I feel like there’s more I could’ve done.”
You take his hands in yours, moving closer.
“You’re here now,” you say. “I didn’t expect that, but I’m extremely grateful for it.”
“Good,” he responds. “Me too.”
“What do we do?” You know he can’t stay. It’s just going to be a repeat of last time.
“I don’t want to give up on you again.” He looks right into your eyes. “I let you go once, I can’t let it happen again.”
Your heart swells. You’ve been waiting so long to hear him say those words. You can’t believe it’s actually happening right now.
“But-”
“I don’t care,” he cuts you off. “I’m sure we can make it work somehow. We were young before, we didn’t know what we were doing.”
“That’s true.”
“We’re more sure of ourselves now,” Byungchan squeezes your hands. “I want to try again.”
“Me too,” you tell him, smiling. “You were right.”
“About what?”
“You said there was some invisible string of fate tying us together. I didn’t believe you back then.”
“But now you do?” You nod.
“Maybe we are meant to be together, after all.” He laughs at that.
“Of course we are.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
He leans in, giving you a kiss. You’ve never felt so loved or happy in your life. When he left, you didn’t think you would ever see him again, but here he is in front of you.
When he pulls away, you can’t get the smile off your face. The boy you’ve loved your entire life is back. And he still loves you too. You don’t know how you got so lucky.
“So, y/n,” Byungchan says. “My soulmate, the love of my life-” You smirk. “Can we try again?”
“Yes.” You reply right away. He kisses you again. “You’re all I’ve ever wanted.”
“Why are you so cheesy?” You smack him.
“Shut up.”
“I love you too, y/n.”
