a/n: here it is folks! the first chapter of the longest fic I’ve ever written. literally. 12 pages and counting. after the overwhelmingly horny positive reception on this post, I decided to split what I currently have into instalments and release them periodically as I edit them. there is no schedule lol I have ADHD and am also very not good at this 🥲

midnight had struck well over 2 hours ago. RAD’s 8am start crept closer and closer, like a cat upon a mouse. like a threat. and though you were in bed, covered in blankets and surrounded by pillows, basking in the warmth of the body pressed against you, sleep could not reach you. there was no room for it.

the third eldest’s allocated “you” time - an entire 24 hours with you all to himself! - had started right as the new day did. at 0:03, you’d snuck into his room, where he’d been waiting like a lovesick puppy to show you what he’d done. he’d chosen a great movie for you two to watch; some niche title from his surprisingly robust comedic horror collection, apparently a Devildom cult classic. he’d even gone through all the trouble to have it projected onto his ceiling so you could easily see it from the comfort of his bed - which he’d rearranged into the perfect cuddle nook. snacks he’d fought to keep safe from Beel were laid out like a buffet. the lights of his tank were set to your favourite colour, casting a hazy glow over the space. 

everything had started innocently enough. you’d pressed your lips to his cheek, complimenting his efforts. he’d rushed to start the movie and practically dove into his tub, finally able to wrap his arms around you and rest his head atop yours. his chest rose and fell against you as he laughed at every slapstick gag, mandarin eyes sparkling when he realised you were laughing too. you don’t quite remember how he’d ended up under you, with his hands on your waist and your tongue between his lips, but you weren’t going to complain.

Levi had always been cautious of intimacy. he rarely went further than where he was with you right now, and even such familiar territory made him nervous. you feel the heat of the blush on his face as if you’re leaning over a fire. your kisses are sloppy, and his are desperate. his hands don’t dare stray from their places above your hips, but the lust he’s holding them back from sparks from his fingertips. he wants to let them roam. he wants to let then roam more than anyth-

CCCRRRAAASSSHHH

a sudden, violent rise in the movie’s volume comes like a bomb over your senses. you push yourself up from the demon, a scream tearing from your throat. Levi is just as startled; his eyes are wider than you’ve ever seen them as they study the room for the threat.

“AAAH WHAT THE HELL WAS TH- oh. th-the movie.” groaning, his head falls back against the pillow. “I completely forgot about that part… and that it was still playing…”

though your heart continues to pound against your sternum, you giggle. “my god.” running your fingers through his fringe brings his attention back to you. “we should probably turn that off and get some sleep now.”

you reach for the projector’s remote and click it off. but as you go to slide off the demon, his fingers suddenly dig into you. your shirt separates his skin from yours, but you swear you can feel the ridges of his fingerprints. his grip is somehow full of panic, like he’s worried you’ll float away. “w-wait! wait. can… c-can we keep going?”

you smile. you can survive tomorrow’s classes with no sleep if it comes to that. and if you’re honest with yourself, sleeping wouldn’t be nearly as fun as continuing. “of course we-”

“can we go further? maybe?” despite threatening to, Levi’s voice does not waver. his eyes - golden and indigo like the most vibrant of sunsets - dart between yours from beneath furrowed brows. 

the shock of the question does not strike you as hard as his confidence does. your relationship with Levi had never been consummated in the traditional sense, but he wasn’t a stranger to the concept. the rock of your hips always left him a babbling mess. your hands brought him such pleasure he only lasted a minute the first time. and your mouth? god, it was like he was addicted. you’d never heard him - or anyone, for that matter - make such noise while actively trying not to. and yet, as much as he enjoyed the acts as they were happening, asking for them activated his fight or flight. red-cheeked and stuttering, until you saved him with your overwhelming perfection.

you figured he’d get to this question at some point, but you never thought he’d ask it in one smooth go.

“you… want to go further?” you arch an eyebrow. “how much further?”

Levi’s gaze darts to the door. you made sure to lock it behind you at his request, but now he seems worried a brotherly ear or two might be pressed against the other side. he stares for a moment before glancing back at you, unable to meet your eyes this time. he studies your lips, your chest, your shoulders, before his voice drops to a whisper: “a-all the way?”

you open your mouth to respond, but the response doesn’t come. nothing you think of seems appropriate in reply. if you say yes, you’d be the first being to have ever done so. Levi had never even asked anyone before - a confession Asmo had once drunkenly given on the otaku’s behalf. the amount of courage it must have taken to verbalise the question, to venture so far from his comfort zone… your heart swells. the poor demon must be scared shitless.

you don’t even entertain the idea of refusal. of all the centuries he’s had to ask this question, he’s asked you. he wants you.

finally, you cup his cheek in your hand. “I’d love to.” his eyes return to yours, staring wide and glossy over crimson cheeks.

“r-r-really?!” his voice squeaks. his expression is pure disbelief, like he was expecting you to echo his signature ‘disgusting reclusive weirdo’ tirade and flee back to your own room. when you smile again, leaning forwards so your forehead is pressed against his, he inhales sharply and tightens his grip on your waist.

“I’d be honoured, Levi.” your lips brush over his brow, his cheek, his nose. “I’ll take good care of you. I promise. just let me know if you want me to stop at any point, okay?”

Unfortunately I have only seen up to early-ish s3 so Mona is not included as I have not met her. That said, I give u 2012 Rasey hcs:

at the start of their relationship they try to keep things rough/“casual” so like there was no gentle moments it was just essentially roughhousing (their usual things) with romantic intent until they accidentally fell asleep together once and Casey found out Raph is a sleep cuddler and his heart absolutely melted, even when Raph woke up Casey kept his arm around him and they just stayed like that for hours until Casey told him that he’s so adorable being all snuggly and he got so red about to push Casey off and dismiss this vulnerable moment but Case kept him close and kissed his head and now Raph can’t get enough it’s his favorite thing

Raph teases Casey so bad, like not even in a s/xual context he’s just so playfully mean and Casey sometimes pulls a scene and acts like it’s the worst thing he’s ever heard when it’s really just annoying at worst (“LOL Casey I can’t believe you have a crush on me” “you’re literally my boyfriend” “so embarrassing 4 u”)

Casey texts Raph while he’s in class all the time, sometimes it’s dumb selfies from ridiculously unflattering angles (typically from under his desk) though it’s usually complaining about a class, teacher, or classmate; if he stops responding suddenly, especially while he was still typing, he knows his phone was confiscated and he always thinks it’s so funny

I’m torn on whether they’d set one another’s contact names as super sweet/sappy things (“my darling🥰” “baby boy❤️” “babe🖤” “sweetheart💕” “my love” “my baby” “forever and ever” among other variations) or if they’d be legitimate insults in the most affectionate way (“dork” “loser” “dummy” “geek” “nutjob” “screwball” among others) bc Raph is the romantic however they’re also both besties and I at least think Raph could go in either direction; either way they’d both set contact photos as the least flattering images they could find if each other

based off of @cloudywithachanceofautism’s hc of them refusing to go to bed angry w each other: it happened One Time on accident after this rule was set, Casey was at a game that night and his phone died when he thought it was charging (bc we love technology /s) and having both entirely forgotten about whatever they got mad at earlier during the game and not realizing his phone is still dead, he just went to bed after getting home; meanwhile Raph was calling nonstop for at least an hour or two after the time he knows Casey gets home from his games and was nearly having a breakdown (not that he’d ever admit it) bc he doesn’t want their relationship to get ruined over something so dumb and he started spiraling a little; Casey realized his phone was dead after he woke up and once it was charged enough to turn on and saw like 114 missed calls from Raph he remembered the argument and he calls him first thing profusely apologizing and explaining the situation and they’re really fragile for about a week following

to go with the hc that ‘12 Raph can knit (from the ‘03 clip) I think he’d just knit Casey socks or gloves or something come the colder seasons, he picks on him a little for being a “softie” however he savors them as much as possible bc he thinks it’s the sweetest thing in the world (Raph knits socks for his brothers too, they’re all very appreciative)

April also got Casey into both Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, Raph picks on him for that too and yet always watches over his shoulder when he’s playing (he’d prob marry Abigail or Sebastian in Stardew as they’re the most like Raph)

Raph manages to get into certain musicals and drags Casey right down with him (thinking “Mamma Mia!”, “Legally Blonde”, and “Mean Girls”; Mikey got him into “Hairspray” and “Heathers” too and he loves them, just don’t top the previous 3)

they do couples costumes their first Halloween together, Casey tries to get them in the dumb comedic ones though Raph keeps setting a hard boundary on that; they do gay ships instead whether or not they’re canon: Fred and Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, Michiru and Haruka from Sailor Moon, I have my own however I’ll stick to these common ones for now bc they r just as good

also when they started their relationship, while they were still adjusting to more affection they would cope by calling each other gay (“*smooch* that was gay” “you’re the one who kissed me, doofus”), and when they got a little more comfortable Casey would start saying “pog” or “that was so poggers” after they’d kiss bc he thought it was funny to see Raph so annoyed like that

behind Raph’s back, Casey would take care of or at least talk about Chompy like he were their child (Raph would probably cry a little of sheer joy if he ever found out)

from cloudywithachanceofautism’s other hc of Raph preferring words of affirmation and Casey preferring physical affection: while Raph absolutely adores having somebody who’s as affectionate with him as he is with his brothers, it’s especially when Casey says things like “it’s ok to be angry, y’know” “you wanna talk about it?” “I’ve got you, it’s ok” “I’ll take care of you” “are you ok?” “Want me to handle it?” anything to do w his mental health and anger bc these poor kids haven’t really known how to deal w it growing up, especially since Splinter isn’t the most emotional parent, and it just makes him feel seen and loved and he always melts in Casey’s arms (“if you wanted a hug you can just ask you know” “doesn’t mean you didn’t need to hear it”)

tying into the previous: Raph also still melts whenever he’s called cute or pretty however when it’s in front of his family he tries to call him lame and a sap affectionately and then he’d let himself be vulnerable with Casey when they’re alone

despite Raph being little, he’s significantly heavier than Casey given he’s nothing but muscle and his shell adds some density (plus Casey’s super scrawny), unfortunately Casey learns this the hard way by trying to be chivalrous and pick his bf up and nearly falls flat and Raph laughs for like 10 minutes straight; Casey isn’t always a fan of being easily lifted by his tiny bf though he’ll embrace it when he’s in a super sappy/affectionate moment and accept it when they’re doing like “couples’ exercises” together and Casey can be used as a weight for him to lift, it’s very funny in his own opinion

given Splinter’s time in America as a human was very brief, I would think he didn’t get to learn a lot of American customs so what the turtles grew up with was mostly Japanese culture and we know they know some of the Japanese language, probably more than what’s shown in canon too; that said, there are probably things they say or do that are confusing to both Casey and April and sometimes has to explain that they’ve just never heard of some of these things before

with that: romance and topics of love are much more conservative in Japanese culture, also the holidays are more for romantic partners rather than friends and family; so like Raph would sneak into Casey’s window Christmas Eve and be very surprised to see him not with his family for the night (not that he’s not happy to see him), or like he’ll try to find a tea stalk in his cup every single date and see if it goes vertical (superstition here) and Casey has no idea why Raph is smiling into his tea when he does, or even one of the most common showings of a couple are matching clothes so Raph will sometimes try to do it subtly when given the chance before they start dating and Casey has no idea why; Splinter thinks this is all very cute and is very proud of his kid

Casey’s the one who introduces hot chocolate to the turtles (“Casey, they’re turtles, they can’t be having that!” “Mutant turtles, April—I don’t think they even know what they can or can’t have!”) and has to eventually take it away from Raph and Mikey bc they became very hooked, Raph still tries to be extra affectionate to get it back which would probably work if it wasn’t for death glares from Leo and Splinter every time bc the last thing they need is a sugar addiction (though Splinter is very pleased about candy canes during the season bc they’re both very rare and very expensive in Japan)

Casey eventually starts to work out more for several reasons, one of which being able to pick up Raph so they eventually have strength and speed contests every time they see each other to who can pick the other up first and how high they can go (Raph tries to claim the “highest” part is unfair as Casey is literally over half a foot taller than him)

alternatively: “Why are you holding Raph like that?” “He likes to be tall.”

on summer nights, they’ll sneak to a closed amusement park just to walk around and Raph would probably play jungle gym on the rollercoasters so the two of them would just sit at the top bump of a track and watch over the city, otherwise playing whatever games that didn’t need to be shut down or need a lot of setting up so they could set it back up before they leave and maybe one or the other would steal just one stuffed animal for one another (not like a huge one, just like one of the “first tier” prizes that there’s a million of); maybe go see botanical/serenity gardens if possible, drive-in movie theaters, or like if Casey and April have some means of access to a public pool they’d probably sneak into that too (Raph getting so excited to go swimming with his turtle instincts and then takes a huge breath under water to come back up coughing and sputtering bc it’s not freshwater it’s chlorine and he didn’t know that was a thing); I just really like the thought of them doing public dates they r so cute

What would you say is the pros and cons of EMS work?? Or like, things you would say to someone looking to be an EMT?

I have a full time job I don't plan on leaving, but tbh learning about what you do and reading your stories has kind of put it on my heart and I was curious if volunteer EMT jobs are a thing. Like, getting all the training done and then volunteering when I can?

Hello Anon! :D That’s so exciting to hear!! I’m glad you’d rather just do it volunteer, as career EMS pays very little (my nursing job is what keeps a roof over my head, not my EMS one lol), but nearly every agency in my area has volunteers so I imagine it’s the same for your area!

So general pros and cons for EMS:

Pros

Tight knit work crew - These people see some bad things together, and trauma bonding is a thing, so they tend to be pretty close and have a lot of fun together. A note of care, we all have dark senses of humor. It’s a natural coping mechanism for people, and it can make life really funny too. But generally, working with EMS providers is quite fun! There will probably also be things like banquets, cookouts, and other fun bonding activities!

Boo boo bus - Driving is one of my least favorite parts of the job, but it is very fun to drive the truck around with lights and sirens and have the power to stop traffic and go through a red light lol. Super dangerous, but very fun

Knowledge - You learn so much in EMS! Medicine and our understanding of diseases and injuries is constantly changing, so you’ll always learn something new if you keep up with your training. Speaking of which, your agency will provide training opportunities to help you grow!

Patient care - You’ll find that the majority of your calls aren’t actually emergencies, but when you can actually take care of someone who needs you, you’re gonna ride that adrenaline high for ages. I still remember calls from years ago where I actually made a difference in someone’s life, and it’s a thrilling feeling.

Shift style - We work in 12-24 hour blocks, which means you knock out your work week in 2-3 days. As a volunteer your hour requirement would be much less than 36, but you could knock out a 24 hour monthly requirement in a single day if you wanted. Also, depending on a few factors (day vs night shift, busyness of your run area), you could literally just be spending your time chilling between calls. Sometimes I bring video games to work and play the switch because we have so much downtime. At night we get paid to just sleep if nobody’s calling 911.

Cons

Management/staffing - Like most jobs, somehow we’re all cursed with idiots in charge. Obviously this is variable, but a general trend in EMS is to overwork its people and toss them out to sea before they sometimes feel ready. And also like most jobs, we’re perpetually short staffed and everyone gets stretched thin to make up for it. Luckily for you, this shouldn’t be as big a problem because volunteers are usually treated very well!

Patient care - It’s a pro but it’s a con too. 85% of your calls are going to be for things that people should have never called 911 for. Your big pretty Boo Boo Bus is mostly going to be an Uber. And it will get frustrating, and you will have frequent flyers, and some people are not kind at all. They’ll call for your help and then get pissed off at you for trying to help. Anyone who’s worked customer service can relate, I’m sure. You get trained to handle life and death emergencies and then instead you’re picking someone up for a cough they’ve had for three days and you’re wondering when you became their mother/father and have to take the baby to the doctor when they haven’t tried anything to take care of themselves at home or see a less urgent health facility. It will burn you out if you’re not careful.

TMI - Speaking of patient care, get ready to see people at their absolute lowest. Hoarder houses, maggots, abusive households, all that jazz. Another reason for trauma bonding with your coworkers! 👍🏻 (This won’t be the majority of your calls, but you’ll see them)

Physical strain - If you don’t take care of your body, this job will hurt you. I’ve thrown my back three times working EMS; there were times where I was hobbling around like an 83-year-old and I was 22. You’ll be lifting patients of every weight, you’re gonna be contorted in weird positions trying to splint someone, CPR is a cardio exercise in itself (lol), you will probably be sore after some calls like you just went to the gym. Also, we don’t take meal breaks - you eat when you can, and you will become a speed eater very quickly in this line of work.

Mental strain - You’re gonna learn a lot about yourself and others in this work. How do you cope with stress? You will watch people die, you will see suicides and shootings and stabbings, you will watch family hurt each other and grieve over lost loved ones. You will be on edge for the majority of your shift as you wait for the tones to drop, you will be stressed trying to find an address or navigate the road and make sure nobody gets into a wreck with you. Military and first responders are so alike because the stress level and distribution is quite similar - downtime with boredom gets interspersed with spikes of huge adrenaline rushes. Have good coping skills, have a strong support system, take care of yourself. 95% of the people I know on duty are in therapy to stay sane.

Overall, I adore EMS. If I could survive off EMS pay I’d work it full time and do nursing as a side gig for funsies lol. The majority of the work is fairly mundane, but when you get to make a difference boy do you get to make a difference. And you’ll have so many funny stories to share. And the people are awesome.

-Heavy Rain First Ever Playthrough-

******SPOILERS!!!!*****

So I just played Heavy Rain for the first time ever and um... holy shit. I am seriously shocked.

So for some background, I'm a huge Quantic Dream fan, I've got well over 200 hours into Detroit: Become Human with all but literally ONE tiny fucking flowchart node completed, and that game is still my absolute favorite. So, I decided to go backwards through their games, and I've played Beyond Two Souls twice so far. I mean...it's a game. I love Aiden, I like the concept, I like the sections with Jodie as kid, but honestly it felt more like a one and done kind of deal.

So I obviously had some mixed feelings going into Heavy Rain, I mean, for one it's made by the makers of my favorite game, but it's also like 12 years old and since Beyond wasn't too crazy great, I had lowered my expectations quite a bit. I also went in totally blind to this game, where as with Detroit and Beyond I had watched playthroughs beforehand.

Well let me just tell you, I finished this game in 48 hours, and I would've done it all in one day if it wasn't for stupid adulting things like work and school (ugh). I was hooked from the beginning, and it was seriously such a fantastic story, with most of the characters being really awesome. Ethan's such a sweetheart, and I'm a huge sucker for protecting kids in video games since I work with kids irl. (I nearly cry every time I kill off Alice in DBH so Ethan and his love for his kids struck a chord with me right away.) I had him complete all his trails, and he ended up getting Shaun back by the end, which - YAY! That was my main priority so I was so beyond happy. I got the ending cutscene with him and Shaun in a new apartment. His sections were easily the most intense in the game for me, which made him super stressful (in the best way) to play as, and he was just a really awesome, kindhearted character who I wanted the best for.

Madison. Well. She's Madison. I'll be honest, when she was introduced I was instantly suspicious of her, and I felt like she didn't really fit into the story super well at first. Maybe she fits better if you go for the lover path with her and Ethan, but I just kinda felt like he had enough on his plate without girl issues lol. And I thought it was a bit weird how eager she was to repeatedly drop everything and tend to this guy's severe injuries, no questions asked. However, as the game progressed, she grew on me, especially during the Paco chapter and the part with the Doc in the basement. I mean, she's a real badass (as long as you got the QTEs right, which I definitely didn't do the first few times and had to restart so she didn't get her throat slit with a POWER SAW, like idk why but I was not expecting that from this game). I got the ending with her at the book signing hearing a voice, and she helped to warn Ethan about the shoot to kill order at the warehouse. I'm curious to see if I can get her a better ending, but even at the end of the game I'm not overly invested in her, more so just mildly curious as to what can change.

Scott. Oh, Scott. I called him as the killer from the moment he was wiping his damn fingerprints off. But, being the Oragami Killer aside, honestly, from a story standpoint, he was a really clever villain. I loved that he was a playable character, I loved that we got to see his backstory unfolding (tiny him wheezing was also another obvious clue and genuinely made me so sad). He was honestly really tragic and I can't wait to replay his sections again now that I know he's the killer. The stuff with the Kramer's was a bit weird and a good red herring, but I was fairly confident he was the killer for quite a while, which made the reveal all that more awesome for me personally. (Also side note but poor Lauren...Laura? Either way, I didn't love her but I nearly threw up when he kissed her cause I was like 90% sure at that point he had killed her kid. Just goddamn, this game seriously had no chill whatsoever). The ending I got for him was he got ground up by the machine when fighting Norman, who, speaking of...

NORMAN JAYDEN. Dude, this man captured my heart right from the moment he put on those stupid fucking glasses. He very well might be my favorite character, (Ethan being an EXTREMELY close second) purely because of how much his sections reminded me of Detroit's sections with Connor. I just had such a good time playing as him (even though I kept getting him skewered by that damn katana in the Fish Tank chapter and had to do that section like 8 times just to keep him alive). I had a weird time playing with him at first, cause my naive brain thought that he was shaking cause anxiety and not withdrawal so I had him taking the tripto instantly, thinking it was anxiety meds and not actual drugs lmao. I tried to keep him off it after that, and realized too late that it was the ARI he shouldn't be using so much and not the tripto (although I'm sure that's probably not great for him either). He stood up to Blake (that absolute fucking asswipe), and helped Ethan escape the police station. In the end he killed Scott, and I got the final ending where he's hallucinating the tiny tanks from using ARI too much, but he flushed the drugs down the toilet so that's at least kind of a win (maybe (?) honestly I have no idea if that was something good or not, cause maybe the drugs were helping reduce the negative effect ARI was having on him?). He's the character I'm the most excited to replay to see if I can get him a better ending with less ARI usage since the one I got left me a bit concerned for his sanity 😂. But he was super, super cool and I loved his character and his chapters. Playing detective with Connor and Hank is what made me fall in love with Quantic Dream's games in the first place, so it only makes sense that this fucked up little FBI agent would find a way to worm into my heart too. 😂

Overall I absolutely had such a good time with this game. I was seriously shocked at how well it held up being played nearly 13(?) years after it was released. The story is still really solid, it's a really intense and fun experience, and it seems like there's a good bit of ways some of the characters can die, which makes me think there may be more variation of endings then with Beyond. The only downsides were obviously the graphics are a bit outdated, and the loading screens are HELLA unsettling, and the QTEs were (at least for me) really hard to get right, even on the easiest setting, but I play on a laptop so that may be a personal issue. But yeah, this game was seriously awesome and I just am so happy that I waited and played it blind because it was such an awesome experience.

An intro

We have this one friend. He never progressed passed 14, in most aspects. One of these aspects is how he views video games. We all got No Man's Sky yesterday, and it was really good, zero bugs until the 4 hour mark and they were minimal (animals able to walk through a rock and crossplay being fucky).

This friend is... stupid. I have known him for about 12 years now, about half my life. His taste in video games is solely first person shooters and Fortnite. Now, I play everything, albeit badly, but I have an understanding of control schemes and how shit should feel and work and such... so I can probably adapt to this if it isn't perfect at first.

(Also look how pretty this shit can be)

Story starts here

3 of us play for a bit then him and another friend join. He, calling him knob, says "wow, can't believe thronk hasn't complained about it yet" because I have had literally zero fucking issue with the game so far, it did its job, was confusing, but I got it in the end. And that's because I played the missions required to actually get the game moving, idk if that was the tutorial persé but I did it, it explained what I had to do, and I had fun with it, not taking it too seriously.

He comes in and says "nahhh I'm not doing the tutorial" then complains that the controls aren't mapped to the FPS ones he's used to... idk if he knows how to remap. He complains its too loud but doesn't turn it down also. Then he says to all of us "alright well its spawned me on a shit planet with nothing on, what do I do?" So we said follow the prompts on the bottom right, to which he says "oh my god that's so shit"

So we continue, with him not playing the game and following that one friend he joined with, mooching off him for everything. Complaining he doesn't know how to get resources even though the game will have told him how. He has also already said "there's nothing here, this is so shit, this is so boring".

Then it comes to the house building mission, one that took us 3, fucking about because we're thick, 20 minutes each. It took him, knob, 3 hours nearly. He started by watching his friend make a small base with a computer. Now, he seems to have encountered a small bug here where our other friend's progress in that mission counts as his, up to a certain point, I think, he was incoherent... but that's what he gets for not caring to learn mechanics. So knob says "it isn't working... it broke, its so shit lol" whilst we're hearing this structure of sentence for the 30th time. And we say "what does it say on the bottom right?"

He says "build a computer... but we already have one"

"Did you build it?"

"No"

"Ok so build one"

"It won't let me..."

"Do you have the materials?"

"I need materials?"

And so this went on for about 40 minutes, saying that, in a game where resource collection is a big part of it, he will have to collect resources. And then he goes back to our friends base and tries to place a computer again...

"It still says I can't"

"Why can't you? Have you read the bottom right?"

"I have, it says make a computer, dipshit"

"Ok, so make one..."

"I can't put it here..."

"Why not?"

"It says I'm too close to other friend's computer"

"So move away, what the fuck?"

And he moves away

"Still can't place it"

"Why not?"

"Game's broke"

"It was fine until you played it..."

"Fuck you, game's a piece of shit"

And then his friend that he mooched off pipes up.

"Knob, you're still right next to my house, the base building area is pretty big"

"Oh my god this is so broken"

Meanwhile myself and the other two of us that started earlier are constantly laughing at him whilst he throws a temper tantrum...

So he goes off and does his own thing... this entire ordeal... this whole fucking thing took five hours...

Five hours to get him to play the game he was playing. All while he bitched and whined about it because he didn't bother to learn the mechanics.

Anyway to loop this back to the main point, he's been like this the whole time I've known him, 12 years. Its also why I stopped being friends with him for a short period, because he threw tantrums over games and would get upset when we spoonfed him the solution.

He had another issue too

So the space sections of the game, you go into first person, in your ship. Something he should love, hell, it was why he wanted to play it in the first place.

As a pc player, the ship controls are odd sometimes, they work, but they're very floaty and kinda like tank controls. The thing is, they make perfect sense in regards to making the ship as usable as possible without being annoying, I won't get too into that now. Knob said "it should be third person"

"Why?"

"I want to see round my ship"

"Ok, why?"

"Idk, just wanna. i like 3rd person"

"That's fine but it wouldn't be very good. Motion sickness, combat would be awkward, blah blah blah blah"

"No it wouldn't"

"What do you mean, by that? I've played these sorts of game before, it wouldn't work, a fixed camera would be awful, it'd be even more disorienting because there's no up or down."

"This isn't like a psychological brain thing though."

"That's not a fucking sentence. It just wouldn't work too well, we know this, you wouldn't"

And he threw a strop...

And then his friend said "I don't see why you two care"

"We don't, he complained first, we said it wouldn't work well."

And so it continued until.

"Fuck this game, piece of shit, doesn't work, I'm gonna play destiny... and I'm uninstalling"

One hour later

"How do I get purified ferrite?"

"I thought you uninstalled"

"No *huffs like a toddler*"

His feelings are valid I suppose, because that's how he percieves this shit. he's just really stupid.

Oh, yeah so...

No Man's Sky is fantastic. Like, this game feels really nice to control

Halo: Combat Evolved #13 (Spoilers for the game, naturally)

FRENS!!! 👀

Roughly 27 1/2 hours of game play with nearly 2 hours being me TRYING TO DRIVE THAT FRICKIN’ WARTHOG AT THE END.

I thought I found creative ways to kill Chief in the Banshee? Ohhhhh, unless people have tried to find interesting ways to kill him in this level, I’d say I might’ve found some undiscovered ones, lol! (Okay, not really, not in a 20 year old game, of course, but I’m not sure if anybody discovered these while TRYING to win! 🥴) Just a few examples:

Did you know you can flip the Warthog and impale the Chief on the front fender? Because YOU CAN. 😱

Did you know you can flip the Warthog up onto the side “track,” wedge is so tightly that you can’t flip it over again, and then have the Covenant AND the Flood cabbage heads run up AND MURDER YOU while you’re desperately hitting the ZOMG PLEASE FLIP BACK OVER, WARTHOG BUTTON? Yep.

Did you know you can fall onto one of the lower tracks, flipping multiple times because you were trying to steer out of the fall, and crush Chief? POOR CHIEF. ONE OF HIS LEGS FELL OFF AFTER HE LANDED AND FLOPPED A LITTLE WAYS AWAY. THAT WAS SO WRONG. 😱

Hey, what about that fun jump near the end of the run, if you ever make it that far, that has that big expanse you have to try to jump at full speed? I ENDED UP ON A BEAM, FRENS. A RANDOM BEAM. You can’t drive off a random beam and get back on course. You can’t try to jump it on foot. I’m pretty sure Chief flipped me off whilst falling from ALL OF THOSE SCENARIOS.

I nose-dived more times than I can count. I finally made the jump but rolled the Warthog, so when I tried to make that immediate next jump, I didn’t have enough speed and missed it. (Chief: *flips me the bird again* 🐦)

It took about 10 more times to even GET to that big jump again. When I did manage to make it, I rolled the Warthog again. So I decided to back up as far as I could and try to get enough speed to clear it.

I backed off the platform.

Chief: *falling* 🐦🐦

Keep in mind, all of these retries were the full level drives again. I didn’t even know you could get a checkpoint by going fast enough until about try 30-something. 😑

Once at the start, I wasted a FULL MINUTE trying to get into the Warthog. Chief somehow got trapped on the passenger side and started this funky dance glitch.

Me: “Chief, NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO PRACTICE YOUR FUNKY FRESH MOVES.”

Chief: 🕺

I finally got him loose, again failed to get the in the driver’s seat and said forget it. We walked out of the garage, killed all the enemies there and kept walking.

Cortana kept saying things like, “Chief! Go back and get a Warthog! Chief! GO BACK! We can’t make it on foot!”

And I out loud said, “WATCH ME!” and kept trudging on just out of sheer ornery stubbornness. You can make it ALMOST to the top of the first hill, then you hit an invisible wall and it won’t let you walk any further. So I went back, finally got in a Warthog, had only like 2 minutes left at this time, so just drove ahead, jumped out of the Warthog and fought the Covvies until the ship blew up.

Chief: 🤬🐦

Once I got that checkpoint, at least you start past all of those Covvie heavy areas. I finally made the big jump, rolled the Warthog because of course, then managed to NOT back off the platform and get enough speed to make that next jump! I’m bookin’ it in the Warthog then got down to the area where you have to leave it behind and go on foot.

Me, literally hollering at the screen (luckily my dad knew I was trying to finish this so wasn’t alarmed by all the noise, lol): “FOR GOD’S SAKE, CHIEF, THIS ISN’T THE TIME TO STROLL. RUN, MAN, RUN!!!”

But, of course, Chief cannot do anything more than strut like he’s on the runway at this year’s Top Mjolnir Fashion Show. The countdown got me about 2 steps from the ramp at the end and we blew up.

Me: 🐦🐦

I took a break after that because DUDE. Harsh.

But I kept going. I kept trying and failing. And failing. And getting close and failing. And me and Chief did a lot of 🤬🐦🐦🤬 but eventually, FINALLY... We made it up that dang ramp at the end!

Now, before we conclude, I need to share with you a little known fact. I’d wager most people who’ve played Halo: Combat Evolved don’t know that the true love story at its heart is...

Master Chief and Foe Hammer.

Because after her Pelican went down, Chief seemed to kill himself out of grief just seconds later. Over and over. I mean, the love of his life had clearly just died and he couldn’t bear to go on! 😭😭😭

BUT! Luckily, I discovered something wonderful! If, as you and Chief go up the ramp to get into the ship to escape, and you think REALLY HARD about how much you both love Foe Hammer, when you ask Cortana a little while later if anybody else survived, you get this amazing bit of dialogue!

Cortana: “No, it’s just... Wait, there’s another life sign on board! It’s Foe Hammer! She must’ve managed to eject from the Pelican and her parachute brought her over to this ship and she climbed aboard just in time!”

Chief: “YAY!” *gets engagement ring from... somewhere 👀 and prepares to propose as soon as she makes her way up to the bridge*

Me: “YAY! That’ll be so romantic as the Halo is exploding in the background!”

Okay, yeah, so that doesn’t happen BUT IT TOTALLY SHOULD HAVE. How dare they kill Foe Hammer? She was always there for us, all the way through the game. And they shot her down right at the end? THAT’S MESSED UP, MAN.

Heh, all right, so this brings us to the end of my ramblings on Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition! It was very difficult at many points but, oh man, I’m so glad I kept going and finally made it through. It honestly feels like a big accomplishment! Now I can go back and equip that pinata skull and have some fun with that whenever I want. 🥳

However, the next part of the Master Chief Collection that I want to tackle is Halo: Reach (so I can have my Noble Six-loving heart SHREDDED 😭 - Hey, wait, can we ship Six and Foe Hammer? We could do that, right? 😍👍 Chief: “Um, NO. Geez, did you already forget that beautiful scene where I proposed as the Halo was exploding?” 🐦🐦) 😉

However, I’ve got a lot of writing to get done now, with Camp NaNo about to start on July 1st, Snowells Week in the Flash fandom from July 4 - 10 and I’m doing my own “Halo Week” at the same time so I’ll have some various fics for John, Kai, Cortana and their friends to go along with all of the Snowells ones. 😁 So no more games until I’ve at least got most of that done. Then... Reach! Heartbreak! *clutches my Six action figure* “It’ll be all right, sweet friend, you and Foe Hammer will be happy there in the afterlife, I just know it!”

So I watched Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury in 24 hours — some scrambled thoughts below.

Ep 1.  The visuals of The Witch from Mercury... wow.  And I had such chills when Aerial used the shield.  What a gorgeous Gundam!  And ahh — the tomato stuff was so cute.

Ep 2.  The worldbuilding!!  It's amazing that they literally explain nothing to the audience fjdkdm and wow the way they play with gravity is something (though a bit inconsistent).

Ep 3.  I love this soundtrack and WOW PROSPERA IS SULETTA'S MOOOM — I felt sorry for Guel in this ep and I liked the strong stance against AI LOL but wow, Guel taking Suletta extending her hand as an opportunity to propose marriage is just.  BOY.

And phew, the mobile suits are stunning... I really want to know why the Cathedra Agreement outlawed Gundams.  Poor Gundams are always punished for some reason or other.  :(

Ep 4.  Bloody hell Chu-Chu nearly KILLED those girls FUDIKDK

Ep 5.  Some Elan character development and SHEESH IT'S DARK.  Also, I love how diverse the character designs are.

Wait.  HOW is Elan allowed to use a Gundam without people freaking out fhdjd like hello???  And is is a witch anyone who pilots a Gundam?  Who are the enhanced human beings?  What is going on!!!

Ep 6.  Okay I love the little slumber party at Earth House tbh these girlies are so sweet and supportive — WHOA WHAT.  CLONES?  FACE STEALING?  HUHHHHH????

I thought Elan was gonna die in front of Suletta or something but they just killed him??????

Ep 7.  Man, Miorine forming that company and getting investment was really moving... and we finally get confirmation thar Aerial is a Gundam.  Tbh, I'm pretty surprised that the lives of pilots are prioritised so much in this world.  Hmm.

Ep 8.  It was cool to see all the business stuff being taken seriously and to finally get sort of confirmation that a witch is anyone involved with Gundams (honestly the title is a massive chunk of the reason why I picked up the show; it's so cool).  But man, I'm wondering what direction they'll take for the last few eps of the season... that's obviously too short a time to have any significant progress in developing medical tech.

Felt bad for Guel in this ep... and what is Shaddiq's deal, anyway?

Ep 9.  Yahoo, another battle!  All the Grassley House drama was interesting to watch (the name makes me think they should be running a gym in Pokémon).  The nature of Suletta's bond with Aerial seems to be changing... interesting.

Ep 10.  Flipping heck, the new Elan is a lot??  I'm glad that we got this lil timeskip to progress the plot — the prosthetic legs are definitely v. cool.  BUT WHAT IS THIS INTRIGUE with Shaddiq and Nika?

Ep 11.  Hot dig there was a lot happening in this but flipping heck I'm honestly so sad that Suletta didn't get to have lunch... and that might actually impact her piloting skills if she has to use Aerial in the next ep because she needs to be in good physical and mental condition?

Someone save Guel what the heck!

Ep 12.  Wow so much death in this ep!

- Miorine's daddy dies trying to save her (presumably — I don't think he'll live)

- Guel kills his own daddy in a weird twist of fate

- And Suletta???  I'd seen the mentions of Suletta killing someone in cold blood but that was GRUESOME.

What a way to end a season!

Ep 13.  Miorine seems to be keeping her distance following the last ep, which makes sense... Sophie is kind of an annoying character tbh.  I'm wondering how all of these different threads will come together, what with Earth folk vs Spacians, the Gundams' true forms and all the stuff with the Big Three.

Ep 14.  She turned her daughter into a Gundam?!?  What?!?!?

PROLOGUE.  I'm a goof djdjd I skipped the prologue because I figured it wouldn't really add to the story but I just watched it and everything makes so much more sense now fhdj what a dummy

Ep 15.  Man, Guel is shaping up to be a rly interesting character.  I feel for this boyo.

This ep was good; it was interesting to see the Earth stuff (although I am losing track of ppl's motivations).

NOREA IS SCARY.

Ep 16. Guel is back and taking matters into his own hands!

Man, seeing the extent to which Suletta is brainwashed is pretty scary.  I'm glad that Miorine confronted prospera directly...

Ep 17.  Oh geez, that duel!  Definitely emotionally-charged...

I really want everyone to find out the truth about Elan already...

Ep 18.  The Elan reveal dropped like a lead balloon and I'm mad that they didn't do more with that moment.

BUT WOW.  When the Gundam itself is accidentally the villain...?

This anime has so many themes linking to a notion of people only being important when they have utility and it's just so sad...

Ep 19.  I'm feeling a bit frantic because there are only 5 eps left and these chars are so bad at communicating with each other djdjjd like to this point there isn't anyone who knows the full story.

Ep 20.  Whoa... whoa.  The level of destruction in this episode?  All the feelings being aired?  All the death?  This was so —

And man, I didn't realise that I had been missing out on end of episode illustrations! This one of Norea and the fifth Elan is heartbreaking...

Ep 21.  Petra is alive!  For now, at least.

I cried a few tears when Suletta told everyone the truth about herself — and whoa, the power of Quiet Zero was SOMETHING.  But damn, I think they really wasted the Elan revelation AGAIN: Nika's outburst was so vague and there was basically zero reaction from the others, even when he barged in.  Considering the horror of Number 4's death sceen, they really just... kind of shrugged it off?  Even though there are so many parallels between Elan and Suletta.  Sighs.

Ep 22.  Finally... a conversation between Suletta and Elan, mostly off-screen, but at least it happened.

One thing that's odd is how everyone seems to have a secret Gundam hidden up their sleeve. Like it was weird enough to find out about Schwarzette but Calibarn literally came from nowehere lol

Ep 23.  I feel a bit dopey because a lot of technical stuff happened in this episode and I didn't really follow/understand it, lol... like Miorine recoding the password?  Huh?

Man, when I thought Landa had killed Guel I was SAD but then I was pleased to see Felsi for like the first time lololol

Ep 24.  A very flashy ending — the visuals were super cool!  And things ended well for everyone (except Shaddiq); the epilogue demonstrated that there was still work to do.  Guel working for OG Elan Ceres is pretty hilarious

AND MAN, dead Elan appearing was a welcome surprise!

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Hmm.

So yeah, on the whole, it was a very good and enjoyable show, though not one that really gripped me, I suppose (though I did watch the whole thing in a day, so maybe I didn't give myself enough time to absorb what was happening).  Some things felt a tad convoluted towards the end.

I thought the scenes where the characters were crying or having difficulties in their Gundams were really, really well done. And there was a lot of sweetness between different characters, especially Earth House. But yeah... I guess it felt like there were some missed opportunities (like we probably could have looked at the events of Episode 12 a bit more — there were some viewer theories that "Gain two" was some sort of trigger phrase for Suletta that sent her into a trance and this idea was glossed over pretty quickly, despite Suletta and Miorine having a heart-to-heart in the greenhouse).

The tech was freaking cool, so I enjoyed that aspect a ton!

It might just be that I'm currently on more of a nostalgia kick, lol.

pokemon nerd thots on gen 9 (87923789239 years late) under cut

i am SO glad i waited post-patch to play this gen. there is absolutely still lag & some minor annoyances, but looking at complaints made before the patch i haven’t encountered nearly as many issues. also i am nowhere near as picky as some other fans (genuinely don’t mean that in a rude way, we should absolutely expect better quality at launch). 

i thought PLA was gorgeous and i think paldea overall is too. expecting the graphics to look like breath of the wild is silly; that’s not the style. i think the pokemon, characters, and cities look AMAZING, and i personally like the grassy areas. however, i agree that the rocky/desert/snowy areas leave a lot to be desired.

but the actual gameplay & story is DELIGHTFUL. coming right off of PLA, it was definitely a bit of a re-adaptation, but once i got the hang of everything i was obsessed (still am- i’m following the “recommended” path & just finished the normal gym). i had i think 12 hours logged in-game before even setting foot in the school!! i’ll think that i explored an entire area but then run into an unbattled trainer somewhere or something. it feels expansive and wild and i love it so much 

im actually not crazy about terastallization but i don’t hate it or anything- i wish the animation was a bit shorter lol. 

the new pokemon i actually overall like; i think there’s a very different feel to the new designs of this gen & last but there are only a few that i’m super not into. i’m far from a genwunner, in fact i think that gen has some of the worst designs in the whole franchise, so you’ll rarely find me clutching my pearls over new pokemon designs. my only gripe is that i don’t like 2/3 of the final starter evos- the skeledirge line is GREAT, like so good to the point that quaquaval and meowscarada seem kind of like jokes?? bipedal is one thing (charizard and blastoise are bipedal!), but bipedal and SO WEIRDLY HUMANOID is another. i hate hate hate hate this trend and don’t know why they won’t stop??

literally just encountered iron treads so can’t speak much on the paradox pokes outside of design, but i feel the same as everyone else i think- future ones are pretty lame, the past ones are way cooler. alas i let my love of purple persuade me into getting violet because i’m 5 years old LMAO

there is A LOT of focus on sandwiches in the story. it is odd

daichi sighs, trying to balance rationality with the fact that he’s definitely in love with you. he realizes he still hasn’t asked you what your feelings are, and although he’s almost scared to know, he counters with a question of his own. “what do you want to do?”

“i dunno, what do you think—“

“no,” he says. “forget about what we should do, for now. i wanna know what you want first.”

his eyes don’t leave you as you avert your own, staring down into your soba and thinking. your cheeks flush and he swears he can feel his pulse speed up. when you look back up at him, your expression is soft and almost sad.

“i kinda want this,” you say, and suddenly everything stops except you. “i do want this.”

“okay…” he nods, urging you on vaguely aware of where this is going.

“but. new york. columbia. i already accepted their offer. and, i don’t know…”

“hm?” his tone is gentle.

“i don’t… i don’t think i could do long distance.” you pause to try and collect your thoughts; he waits for you to continue. “i don’t think that would be a good idea. because i don’t even know how often i’m gonna get to come back home. and, um, i don’t know—i mean, like, if we were actually together—i don’t think i’d be able to just not see you, you know?”

you’re right, he knows you’re right. he tells you this.

“but i do really want this,” you say quietly.

“me too.”

“so what do i do?”

“tell me your plans after college again.”

you shrug. “get my master’s, i guess? get a job in sendai or something?”

“okay,” he says. “okay. i’ll wait.”

“what?”

“i’ll wait,” he repeats simply. “i mean, if you’re okay with it, too.”

“what do you mean, you’ll wait?”

“we can, like, just keep things the way they've always been until we can make it work? until we’re both done undergrad, at least.” he stops, realizing he might be going too far too fast. “sorry.” and then quieter, almost shyly, he asks, “i— uh, sorry, i— how much do you want this?”

you shake your head at him, and there’s a tiny smile playing on your lips. “i’ll wait.”

somehow he’s managed to convince your parents to let him drive you to the airport separately tomorrow morning. they probably assume there’s something going on between the two of you already; you hadn’t hung out nearly this much since elementary school, when they’d still been the ones arranging your play dates. no one really minds, though; your families were always close and anyway, it really is just a matter of time.

he’s just finished dinner with your family when he nudges his knee against yours under the table. “spend the night at mine?” he says quietly, although he knows your parents will still hear. it’s fine; they love him. he watches you look to them in question, half surprised when your mother nods and allows you to go.

While #1 oldest child is still battling their way out of Hades, you get an update from me. Unfortunately, no fic updates yet, but I may get desperate and just use my phone this weekend to see if a 200-page Google doc will load on it. :)

As for what's been happening around here:

- officially have use of both my legs again

- blood clot has officially been deemed No Longer A Threat to my immediate health

- no hemorrhages for nearly 8 weeks!

- I get to stop my blood thinner injections after my current prescription runs out (yay, no more track marks across my stomach for swimsuit season, lol)

- yes, I know the last two contradict each other; yes, it has been a complete show with many ER and hospital visits since March

- still waiting to hear back about why I randomly stop breathing, but I keep kicking back so, eh, could be worse?

- we removed our deck.

- By force.

- because masons fixed $15k worth of damage/wear on our house (including rebuilding our chimney) last week (had to say 'no' to so many things over the past year in order to save up for that. My car hasn't moved from the garage since October. I don’t think it runs anymore, tbh)

- worked out our financial plan update with our advisor

- currently working on our mortgage renewal (so, so fortunate that our financial advisor is giving us tips)

- kids are almost done school for the season

- #1 son has started singing lessons

- i got a promotion at work and start my new job on the 28th of this month (a little more than a week!)

- new job will NOT have anywhere near the OT i am used to working, so hopefully this means a healthier lifestyle for me soon.

- I'm... wishing I felt happier/more excited about the new position, but I know my current team is really going to be hit hard because of the timing. My team has all responded to the announcement with "mixed feelings".

- Doreto is doing great 👍

- next week is my last week of FT in my current job, though I will still be helping the team PT through July

- second dose of Vax is due next weekend

- my lilies are blooming in the garden, and somehow, a single sunflower seed snuck into that patch so now there's this umbrella-like plant growing taller and looming protectively over them like something out of a Ghibli movie

- while I am in terrible physical shape from the last 8 months or so, after a lot of work, I hauled ass to get myself into a better place at my job, got the house fixed up, confirmed our family would not die destitute (at least not as long as we stick to our budget and live a bit thrifty), threw a birthday party weekend for #1 son and soon, for #1 oldest child, too (16!?!?! Wtf, when did they grow up!?!?), and told my broke ass body to suck it up because I still have too much shit to do.

- thank the gods for #1 hubby being a rock through all of this

- literally #1 hubby to me: fucking unkillable (affectionate)

This past week was a return to OT (and 12- and 13-hour days) and this coming week will be worse... but this may be it for some time after. Possibly. We will see. New job will be... a shift from what I currently do.

But the team i am moving to is also incredible, and I really want to do my best and impress, so fingers crossed that this coming week i don't burn myself right out finishing everything for my current job. (Because I don't want to leave a mess for my current team to deal with.) So, hopefully my last 65-hour week!!

Anyway, yeah. Been a show here. Had to focus my attention to move up instead of trudging through. ^^;;

... because new job puts me in a position to potentially help my entire (current) team from a higher level up, if I play my cards right.

.... which, ugh, means I need to get myself back in physical shape ASAP, because I am going to have to use charm and schmoozing skills, and actually style my hair so people take me seriously. And brush up on my languages. And...

Argh.

Anyway, this is why I have been AWOL.

Adulting for the greater good. Or, trying.

3.  Black clouds roiled overhead, pushed along by the stiff, autumn wind. (A very moody start to what is otherwise an extremely silly, sappy fic lol)

4.  Hinata collides with the net and then crashes to the floor, his strangled yelp echoing through the nearly empty gym.

5.  "So, how bad is it?"

6.  “It’s archaic! Ridiculous!” Temari snapped.

7.  “Watch this,” Shun insisted. “This character’s powers are the most badass.”

8.  Kugisaki kicked her way into Itadori's room, holding her prize aloft and grinning from ear to ear.

9.  “You’re sure you don’t mind leaving this early?” Gaara murmured as they ducked out the back door of the Kazekage Tower.

20.  He’s exactly where Gaara expected to find him, hair ruffled by the breeze that sweeps across the sunlit clearing, beads of sweat glistening on the back of his neck.

Huh. I’m very surprised by how few of these are dialogue. Most of them are actually just. . . a character doing a thing. And it seems like this is a formula I’m still following since the first sentence of the fic I intend to post this week is, “Aren stifled a yawn as he turned the key and pulled it out of the ignition.”

I’ve never considered myself a master of the catchy first sentence, but there are a few of these I’m pretty happy with. I hadn’t realized that both of my Kagehina fics start with Hinata doing something stupid, but it feels fitting. I still like quite a few of the Gaalee ones. I think my favourite overall is probably the first line of “Intention” (number 8). I just think that worked well for Nobara’s character and was a fun way to kick things off, quite literally.

Life update!~

I haven't posted in a long time. I have a good bit that I could write about, but I really just want to write about my recent employment. I always think it's interesting after being at a job for an extended period of time to look back on your initial thoughts on everything. So that's what I want to do, for future me! We have been in St Paul for 8 months.. 8 months. I have had a very emotionally taxing time putting out countless applications and not hearing anything back. Very very discouraging and stressful, but I won’t get into the details of that right now. Anyway.. I FINALLY get an interview/stage opportunity! I got a call from the head chef on Friday the 22nd, calling me in for Wednesday the 27th at 12 PM.  I got there at 11:37 AM. I sat in my car for a couple minutes.. nervous as hell. Got out of my car at 11:41 AM and headed inside with my knife roll. There was a tall lady that asked me if I had a reservation. I told her that I had a stage and my name is Brooke. She went back to the kitchen for a short amount of time, came back, and told me Chef Leonard would be with me shortly. I sat at the bar and a dude named Daniel asked me if I wanted water. Leonard came out and led me to the basement to show me where I could put my coat. He was moderately intimidating. He didn't act like a cocky asshole or anything, but the way he spoke made me immediately feel like he deserved my respect. Made me a little shy and timid. I tried not to let my insecurity show. He had sleeves of badass tattoos on each arm. Loved them. Anyway, back upstairs he brought me around to a prep area and asked me to start thinly slicing radishes, then taking half of those radishes and shredding them into chiffonade. I stayed in my spot, doing my prep work, people circulating around me. Nearly everyone introduced themselves to me, but I was so nervous, their names went in one ear and out the other. There was a guy with red hair and a mohawk. He told me he is originally from Temple, Texas (I'm 90% positive that's where he said) and he's very proud to be from Texas. Another guy who is a sous chef who had very attractive, kind eyes. I liked him. He went to Le Cordon Bleu, MN and graduated in 2014 (which is the same year I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu, TX). He did some prep work beside me for a bit and we made nice conversation. He cut the fuck out of that cauliflower. He's been working there for 5-6 years. Another guy instructed me on some of my prep work. He seemed very outgoing and goofy. But not too much goofy in an annoying way. I liked his humor. Later on a very tall guy came in. Longish hair. I never talked to him. There was another guy who spoke to me a little, not much, mostly to the dishwasher guy. He and the dishwasher dude spoke spanish in their conversations with each other. They seemed to have a good relationship. Oh, dishwasher dude was nice, btw. He spoke to me a bit and was very polite.  I think there was two or three other people that came in? But they went straight to the front and didn't speak to me After I finished my radishes, scallions, green onions, rosemary, dill, and parsley prep, I went to the line to work with teasers. I met with a super cool dude who loves his pantry station. He slowly showed me how to do 4 teasers. Then I had to replicate all 4 by myself. You can tell he has experience with training people; I like the way he spoke to me. East Fried Pride, Bubba's Gump, Blues, Bacon and Eggs. I think I did well except I mixed up the order of the avo puree and hot jam on the bacon and eggs teaser. And I feel like I maybe undercooked the shrimp a bit for the Bubba's Gump. I brought my teasers to chef Leonard. He looked over my plating and asked me to sit up front, try the teasers to understand the flavors, and we'd talk. I tried the teasers (Blues was my favorite) then I went to pee (Omg first time I've been alone. I'm literally shaking. Holy shit. I've been watched for hours. *soak my nervous sweat with toilet paper*) I came back out to sit at the same booth, Chef came out and we had a short interview. He asked me about my 5-year plans, my experience, etc. Normal interview stuff. He offered me a job and I excitedly accepted. Full time, 35-42 hours a week. Paid bi-weekly. ALSO health benefits available after 6 months, wtf?! That's amazing. I have never worked a job in the culinary industry with health benefits. There are so many interesting foods and unique ingredients that I worked with that I have absolutely NO experience with. That's super intimidating. But also exciting how much I have to learn. I love playing with new foods, trying new things, and learning new techniques. Gosh, I am really hoping this job is a good fit for me. Greg and I have our wonderful relationship, cute little house in a city that we love.. everything is coming together. The icing on the cake would be to have a rewarding, enriching job cooking in a wonderful restaurant I'm genuinely excited and passionate about.. I feel so motivated to succeed. And I really hope that I can develop good relationships with my co-workers. Hopefully they'll benefit from a little estrogen to break up the stink of their sausage party lol

6. Actual Worst Part of Writing: Making it perfect through editing. I have always said that I am a terrible writer and a great editor but it is so time consuming. I want to get to the fun stuff and get bogged down fixing the plot and setting things up that I lose interest.

7. Favorite Story You Wrote: This is actually a really hard one for me. It's a toss-up between Falling Cherry Blossoms and I'll be the Moon. Falling Cherry Blossoms is an exploration of grief and what it would take to break Kakashi. and I'll be the Moon really delves into the complexity of love and relationships.

8. Story You Were Nervous To Post: Honestly, I'm nervous to post every story. No matter what someone says, writing is putting a piece of yourself out there for someone to take a look at. I was pretty nervous posting my first KakaYama smut which was in Surprised Disguise, where Kakashi surprises Tenzo as Sukea and gets way more than he bargained for. Distraction also made me nervous. It's a KakaSaku mututal pining where they enjoy themselves since they can't have each other.

9. How You Choose Your Titles: Luck of the draw? Most of my titles come from song lyrics that inspired the story in the first place. Sometimes they're spot on descriptors of what's in the story, but it's normally song lyrics because I'm not terribly creative. By the time I get to the title, i've used up all my creative prowess elsewhere.

10. Complete Works: Are you serious right now? There are so many if we count one shots. I started doing them all, then got bored about one page in and decided to hit the highlights after a point. These are the most recent one shots or notable ones.

If so, what did you do? I had my first sip of alcohol at Kaira’s 18th birthday and I was feeling left out since literally everyone else was drinking. For vaping, Gabie introduced it to me; and for smoking, it was another case of FOMO that made me want to try it out.

Do a lot of people check you out when you're in public? Idk? I don’t take note of that kind of attention, anyway; I would find it creepy.

How many people do you know for sure to be interested in you right now? Zero.

What is a good name for a turtle? I think it would be the same process as the way I think it would be for any other pet; it would depend on their personality, their aura, etc. 

Can you imitate any accents well? If so, which one(s)? Not really. I can read Hangul and am familiar with the different tonalities used in Korean but I wouldn’t say my imitation would be considered spot-on.

Do you like having your ear nibbled on? Yes.

What makes a good kisser a good kisser? When they know how to use their tongue in a teasing way, for one. Eugh it’s too early for this lol

Do you ever eat with your eyes closed and just focus on the taste? Yup, especially when I’m either eating somewhere pricey or when I’m eating at one of my favorite restaurants.

What do you dislike most about where you live right now? It’s a pretty uneventful city, and if I want to have some fun I always have to go to Manila.

Have you ever became really good friends with someone you found online? Yes. Aliyah and I are still friends and I’m glad we’ve been able to maintain our friendship even after mine and Gab’s falling out. It’s a shame the three of us didn’t get to meet in real life though, and it will 100% never happen now. I also used to have a group of Twitter friends back in my wrestling stan days but it’s been a very long time since we’ve gone our separate ways. I have yet to find friends on Army Twitter but I really doubt I would get to build established friendships any time soon because EVERYONE IS SO YOUNG OVER THERE

What is the coolest tattoo you've ever seen? I find line tattoos to be pretty cool and beautiful in general. The minimalist look it goes for works really well.

Have you ever created anything artistic that you're proud of? If so, what? That vase I molded during my Vigan trip :) It was the first (and so far) only thing I’ve made from scratch, and even though I didn’t get to take it home, I’m still glad I had the opportunity to try pottery.

Do you only eat the middle of the oreo, if you eat oreos? No? That’s pretty wasteful. I eat the whole cookie.

Do you know anyone with a huge ego? Hahahahaha. Yes.

If so, is there anything else about them you actually like? Not anymore, no.

If so, what about them do you like most? They’re very easy to talk to, and they’re both selfless and generous.

What is everyone else in your house doing right now? My mom is making dinner while I believe everyone else is just on their phones waiting for the dish to be made.

What is the most money you've ever had at one time? I don’t remember the exact amounts anymore but my mom used to hand me cheques and regularly assign me to pay for me and my sister’s tuition back in grade school and high school, since she had work during the day and didn’t have time to stop by the school herself.

How long do you think it would take you to run a mile? I don’t know but definitely longer than what would be considered a decent duration for a fit person.

What kind of mood were you in most of today? Comfortable. We had the aircon on all day and I just watched BTS MVs and live performances, and I don’t really feel bad about being unproductive for once.

What is the worst thing you've ever done to someone emotionally? Idk...maybe cut them off unexpectedly? I'll usually have no problem doing this with people who make me uncomfortable.

How do you feel now about the first person you ever dated? Nothing. She’s not in my life.

How about the last person (your last ex)? She’s the same person.

What is the best invention ever invented? The internet.

What is something that needs to be invented? Not a completely new invention but I wish programs that can identify songs for you, like Siri, can be more improved to be able to recognize songs just by humming the tone. So far they can only name songs if you play it clearly for a few seconds, but it can be a hassle if I wanna have access to a certain song but only remember the melody and otherwise have no idea what the lyrics are or who sang them.

Describe your eyes. I don’t think they’re anything special. I don’t count them as a striking feature of mine.

What always makes you burp? Eating quickly. And beer.

What is something you hate doing that most couples do? There isn’t anything.

What are you doing tomorrow? I wanna finally watch the Friends reunion special since I didn’t feel like watching it today. I also have a press release to write for one of my clients – they requested for it Friday and want it by Monday :(
