svt members opinions on nipple piercings
NSFW CONTENT ! MDNI !
seungcheol:
with or without piercings, he is ALWAYS lapping at those bad boys. piercings just add to the fun. he thought you reactions were cute pre-piercings ? afterwards, this man is OBSESSED with your sounds. i mean OBSESSED.
jeonghan:
we all know this dude is a menace. his foreplay is immense, add in the piercings ? just added another 10+ minutes of nipple play. if your tits are not SOAKED in his spit, he would not be able to sleep that night.
joshua:
as i have said and will always say; joshie boy goes BONKERS for some boobs (esp for all my small boob gals out there). when you revealed your newly decorated tits, he almost busted in his tighty whiteys. he def stares at your chest even when it's clothed. boy just can't get the sight out of his mind.
jun:
paegei #1 jun boob enthusiast. his tit pic collection SKYROCKETED after your new piercing. man is feral. his thinking about them while sleeping, while singing, while dancing. his brain has become consumed by the sight. somehow loves cumming on your tits even more, who would've thought ?
soonyoung:
this dude is down bad, are we shocked at how crazy he went over them ??????????? seriously guys, act surprised. again, constantly playing with your boobs. not even in a sexual context. he'll be showing you a video of his latest performance, and his hand just creeps up your shirt. can't blame him though, boobs are boobs.
wonwoo:
be prepared, him playing with your jewellery is definitely becoming his new go-to punishment. he will not move on from your tits till you are shaking and crying (even then he might not move on just yet...) also plays with your nips like he's using his controller IM SORRY.
jihoon:
his jaw drops FOR SURE. tries his damn hardest to not gawk but you can tell how much it affects him from the flush peaking up his neck. in his subby moments, loves suckling on them. twirling the bar in with his tongue, writing his name with the movements LAWD.
minghao:
two words. tit. fucking. HE LOVES TIT FUCKING !!!!! like yeah, he liked it before you got the piercings, but the sight of looking down ???? seeing the jewellery jingling ???? with the movement of his thrusts ????? man loses ALLLLLL of his cool.
mingyu:
like soonyoung, bros hands are LATCHED on. complains if you wear a bra or even a shirt. don't hide his babies from him ??? don't you love him ????? immedietly notices if you change the stud. like im talking the SLIGHTEST change. bro is locked in on the honkers.
seokmin:
bro is ecstatic. jumping for joy kinda ecstatic. definitely pouts when he has to wait for them to heal, but then is always ON TOP of that care. the day he got the all clear to play with your boobs, he was on the verge of tears.
seungkwan:
listen, as much as kwan loves the sight, he is more interested in what you decide to adorn you nipples with. after he gets a taste of what sort of jewellery you take a liking to, he is constantly surprising you with even more. also definitely dropped to his knees when you showed him, the drama queen he is.
vernon:
dude did not think boobs could get any better. titty fucking to the MAX. just twists and flicks at the bar every now and then, just to see what would happen (what did he expect ?). honestly, would not be that shocked if he suddenly wanted to get his done too. vernon likes the looks of it what can he say.
chan:
the second your shirt is off, his eyes are BUGGING out of their sockets. borderline cartoon character ass reaction. you guys will simply be cuddling on the couch and he suddenly remembers you got your nipples pierced and just immediately shoves his head under your shirt and gets to town. bros got a mission.
not proof-read ! lmk if there's any mistakes (づ ̄ 3 ̄)づ

Hello. Can you tell us, in your opinion, what physical preferences Crocodile, Mihawk, Buggy and Smoker from One Piece would have in a woman ? Thank you very much and sorry if this has already been asked. ^^
One Piece Men + Headcanons!
OF COURSE I CAN POOKIE!! Also MB for like disappearing for months on end!! Btw!! I can’t see my messages idk why so so sorry! If ya want somethin do inbox!
warning!: suggestive only a bit, cursing! Obviously female reader, grammar bad mb, tad bit off topic!
crocodile - I see him being an ass guy, I don’t think it matters what size but if you have an ass then yk 😜. - leadership! Because he is SUCH a busy man he wants you too atleast have SOME leadership on yourself and others for his work, and you to take care of yourself! It’ll be more stressful for him if he constantly has to worry about you.. which he doesn’t!! (He does). - I don’t think he really cares what size you are, you just have to be strong, atleast learn how to fight or protect yourself! - women in suits 😵‍💫 - if he sees you in a suit he might just go bonkers. - this is going back to leadership role, but being smart! You don’t have to be Einstein smart but smart in one way or another, he finds that hot.. especially when you geek out about thing, can be a special interest or something nerdy, he might act like he is not listening but he is! - hip dips! Oo that man loves iittttt he’ll hug you from behind, and rest his hands on them, while nuzzling his head in your neck !! Mihawk- boob guy, no one can tell me otherwise! - again doesn’t matter what size you are, he loves to see you in the color red! (With cleavage showing 🫨). - he likes it when you drink the wine and a little wine mustache comes up! He finds it’s ADORABLLEEEE. - when you sit down and your thighs expand, especially in a dress!!! AAAAAA. - I think he wants someone who is shorter than him, but also strong in some way or another .. bonus points if you know how to use a weapon! Especially a sword! - someone with long hair! Doesn’t care if it’s real or not, he loves to see you do your hair in the morning, (this includes if you have braids or dreads!) Buggy- thigh guy! - he LOVES to see you put on flashy colors for your outfits, or hair styles/hair colors! Of course you can’t be more flashy than him.. BUT he thinks you look HOT and CUTEEE wearing flashy clothes! Especially his colors! Or even matching with him in some way or form! - I think he would like to see someone with unique features, that can be anything on your body! Freckles, eye color, hair, skin, body, anything! The more unique the better! - he doesn’t like when you change your features to be some one or something or to be “ prettier “ he thinks that if your born with a unique feature(s) you keep it! Make it shine! - makeup! Of course you don’t need it!! But he wants you to match with him! (Please paint your nose blue like his). - someone who is strong! Very strong! Or strong/stronger with weapons of any kind! He finds it actually so hot when you fight. -funny! Or goofy! He loves people when they are funny and goofy! You can be the jester and him the clown! Smoker- another ass guy, - he definitely wants a strong woman, like with crocodile it’s too stressful! - someone who is mature, I don’t think he can handle someone who is immature.. and if you are he’ll deal with it but don’t be surprise when he gets mad at you! - when you dress formal! He finds it hot! Also shows your maturity! - unlike buggy.. he wants someone with shorter hair! (Including people with braids or dreads etc..) he doesn’t know why, but I think he likes it because it matches with every outfit you wear..
OKAY POOKIES I HOPE I DID THIS RIGHT I KINDA HAD TO ADD MENTAL TOO.. BECAUSE HUST PHYSICALL WAS KIND AHARD IM SORRY IF THIS WASNT WHAT YOUW ANTED! AGAIN IMBOX IF YA WANT SOMETHIN SORRY POOKIES

Knuckles (My Thoughts)
Tumblr media
So, I have watched Knuckles, the 2024 show that basically came out yesterday, and before watching it, I have heard a lot of mixed opinions, ranging from ''the show is great'' to ''the show is awful, I hate it''. I had figured I might as well add my thoughts to the fray.
There will be spoilers in this review, so if you haven't watched the show, you had your warning.
So, for starters... this show is absolutely bonkers, and I definitely enjoyed watching it! X3
Honestly, I feel like there was a pretty good mix of comedy and action, and while there is some over the top acting, it didn't really take away from my enjoyment. It was a pretty wild ride from start to finish, and I kinda want to know what the writers were smoking during some scenes, because there were moments where things just get a bit surreal.
The show is also peppered with a lot of emotional moments, but I'll get to that bit in a moment. So far, I think people were right when they called this Sonic the Hedgehog, but it's Knuckles and Wade instead of Sonic and Tom.
The main crux of the show is that Knuckles has a bit of a crisis. He has found the Master Emerald, he has found friends in Sonic and Tails... and the only reason he's on Earth is because of that promise to them, as he clearly doesn't feel like he is at home... yet. So, how does he deal with that struggle?
Tumblr media
Well, Pachacamac tells him what to do. Not gonna lie, even though I had expected him to appear, I was still baffled, because Pachacamac in this show is basically Oogway, Mufasa and Mr. Miyagi rolled into one. Clearly, Knuckles still holds great admiration for him, but let's remember that this was the guy who hunted down Sonic and Longclaw, leading to the mutual massacre. And now, he's a ghost that Knuckles can talk to, a lá Tikal. Kinda weird, but I think this is also the moment the show doesn't give a damn about being grounded.
Pachacamac suggests Knuckles that he should continue the legacy of the Echidnas, with Wade Whipple becoming his new protégé. Knuckles knows Wade is a loser, but he accepts, especially given Wade's determination to show everyone and their mother that he isn't some kind of loser and will become the bowling champion at the tournament in Reno, Nevada. So, he and Knuckles go on a road trip there while also being hunted down by two rogue G.U.N. agents, who want to deliver Knuckles to The Buyer, a guy who formerly worked for Robotnik and wants to use his quills to power his weapons.
Now, I will first start with the negative stuff that I noticed during the plot. Yes, people were correct, the second half of the show does focus a lot on Wade and his family rather than on Knuckles. Should it focus more on the titular character? Absolutely! Am I disappointed with what we got? Ehh... not really. Not gonna lie, I was actually quite invested in Wade's family drama.
Honestly, I can't really think of any complaint aside from the lack of Knuckles' screentime. Maybe it would've been better if the show focused on Knuckles bonding with Sonic and Tails, but it was always advertised as a Knuckles and Wade road trip, so I can't say I was lied to (not to mention, we had a whole movie of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles bonding). I suppose that another thing to add to it is the abrupt ending, although we do get a post-credits scene with Knuckles and Wade going to their next adventure, and the fact that they just don't address some plot points (like we don't know how the Wachowski family reacted to Knuckles' absence).
Well, that's my negative thoughts on the show, what's the positive stuff?
Tumblr media
First of all, Knuckles himself - he is absolutely awesome every moment he gets! His character is on point, and he gets a lot of goofy, but also very wholesome moments. He also works very well with Wade, their personalities bouncing off each other and their interactions can turn from hilarious to absolutely heartwarming, especially when bonding over their respective lives.
I think that's a really strong point of this show - Knuckles helping Wade, in his own way, to overcome his insecurities, while just being his Echidna Warrior self. At the same time, he also learns about simple things in life, like ''what his jam is'' (to no one's surprise, it's the show's theme song, The Warrior by Scandal) or about Wade's family's traditions, as well as finally accepting that Earth is his home.
Also, Knuckles and Wade's mother beating up the bounty hunters was one of the best scenes in the show, hands down.
As I said previously, I also got quite interested in Wade's family life. I really like his mother, but his sister is a bitch, even if she stands by Wade's side. His father, not gonna lie, Pistol Pete gets the same amount of hate from me as Locke... Huh, maybe they did base Wade's father on one of the most hated characters from the Sonic Archie comics? After all, both abandoned their sons for a ''greater purpose''. In any case, it was satisfying seeing Wade beating his father in the bowling tournament and use what he learned during his journey.
Furthermore, this show is peppered with many lore bits, but the most jaw-dropping is this one:
Tumblr media
So, if you guys don't know, this is Iblis, one of the Big Bosses of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), alongside Mephiles, and basically the main reason Silver the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat went back to the past to save the future, with Silver fighting Sonic due to the belief that he was responsible for the apocalyptic wasteland that is Silver's future. Both Iblis and Mephiles are halves of the sun god Solaris, who was defeated by Super Sonic, Super Shadow and Super Silver.
So, in this show, in this story told to us via a rock opera arranged by Pachacamac and starring an... unconscious (dead?) Wade? *shrugs* So, yeah, in this story, apparently, Knuckles defeated Iblis with the Flames of Disaster, aka beating him up with flaming fists.
Not gonna lie, that's metal.
Also, another lore bit that is dropped is how a different alien visited Reno for a bowling tournament in 1974, which tells me either two things:
One possibility is that it was Shadow who appeared at the bowling tournament, which is but funny and pretty awesome, and now I have an image of Shadow, Maria and Gerald Robotnik wearing those bowling T-shirts.
The other possibility is that Black Doom dropped after making his deal with Gerald and decided to sign up the Black Arms for a tournament, which is just plain hilarious.
Tumblr media
So, yeah, overall, I liked the show. Is it the best? Not really, but it is something I'd rewatch if I want something fun and wholesome.

RANDOM THOUGHTS: Unknown ep. 11
I’m just going into this episode wanting Qian and Yuan’s first kiss. That’s it. That’s all. Now, hit me with it!
Qian grabbed Yuan’s wrist. It was all the confirmation Yuan needed. I have a feeling that he will be even bolder now than what we’ve seen so far. And I love it.
Well, damn! That went from 0-100kph really fast. Yuan was starving, and I don’t blame him. He’s been starving for a loooong time. Even dreaming about it at night, it seems.
I love that Qian took the first step with the kiss. Yuan was straightforward and honest about his feelings and what he wanted (to be more than a brother, to be someone Qian could rely on, to be with Qian for the rest of his life, etc.). But Qian took the first step with the kiss. He’s finally “in his feelings” rather than trying to think it through or analyze it.
One thing I have to say I didn’t quite like about this scene, though, was the editing. I don’t mind the flashbacks (as in the flashbacks of some of their past moments) because it shows their story and adds emotional weight to the whole scene. I love that. But the buildup wasn’t there since the sequence of Yuan making his feelings clear and the kiss was chopped up and strewn here and there. For me, it would’ve been much more effective if it happened in chronological order (or if the confrontation from the previous scene had been in the same episode). The editing here fell a bit flat for me and it’s such a shame considering the potential it had of being an incredible climax of the whole series, that they were finally together. Ahhh, I don’t want to feel disappointed…
Look at them being cozy in bed! It’s Yuan’s neck kisses that do it for me…
Btw, this is probably the first time Qian has smiled when anyone has mentioned Lili and San Pang in the same sentence.
The way Yuan sneaked into his own room… lmfao!
The way I CACKLED because of Lili’s bonkers story.
A dating game? I’m getting Our Dating Sim flashbacks.
Here’s Qian, in the middle of a meeting at work, getting flashbacks of his night having sex with Yuan. 1. Absolutely understandable. 2. He’s completely whipped. So, again, understandable. 3. There’s no doubt he wants to have sex with Yuan again. And again. And again. So, once again, understandable.
The way he hit that figure and caught it before it hit the floor… Qian was clearly rattled by his daydream. And who can blame him? My legs would be shaking. (But this is not about me…)
So… The Doc and Le are fucking, right?
You know, Le is damn fine… when he doesn't look like a crazy person. Eh, who am I kidding? He’s sexy as hell when he looks like a crazy person. (I know, it’s a me-problem…)
OMG! Their date. The way I fucking laughed through the whole scene. Yuan accusing Qian of not being romantic, Qian proving the opposite, Qian’s reaction after the kiss, Long being funny as hell with the candle. Every moment was fucking golden! Excuse me as I rewind that a handful of times.
Of course, Qian’s trauma would come back up again at some point. It’s not like he’s dealt with it or been magically “healed”. I’m honestly wondering how the series will deal with his trauma (both the trauma around his childhood and his head trauma) considering there’s only half of this episode plus the next one left.
It doesn’t surprise me one bit that Qian went to the hospital by himself. I get that he doesn’t want to worry Yuan. But he isn’t even giving Yuan the chance to choose for himself.
Hitting yourself on the head won’t help…
It’s come to a point now that Qian has to tell Lili about his health. I mean, surgery seems to be the only option to get better, but the risks are too big to keep it secret.
Qian is talking as if he’s already set on dying. This is so unlike the fighter and survivor he used to be. And, of course, Yuan notices that something’s off.
Seriously, hasn’t Qian learned his lesson about not keeping something like this from Yuan?
I usually love miscommunicating (or non-communicating) characters because of the misunderstandings and drama it usually stirs up. And I love the misunderstandings and drama (in fiction, not real life, btw). BUT! This is riling me up. This is about Qian’s life. His health is in serious danger. Is it in line with his character? Yes, to a certain point. But how many times has he shown how important his family is to him? MANY! Practically the whole series so far. Why would he not want to prepare them for the possibility that he might not be around much longer? This isn’t the time to stay silent. This isn’t the time to avoid the topic. Come on, Qian. Don’t do this to Yuan. Or Lili.
Did you hear that, Qian? The Doc said to discuss it with your family.
The stress Qian is under has made him hide in an ally and start smoking again… If that blood clot in his head doesn’t kill him, the stress surely will.
Excuse me as I weep for a minute or two…
I only have one thing to say about that moment in the alley… Qian is so fucking lucky to have Yuan in his life. We’ve often talked about how lucky Yuan was that Qian found him (which is more than valid because he most likely wouldn’t have survived without Qian). But Qian is just as lucky to have Yuan in his life. Yuan single-handedly reignited the spark in Qian and brought the fighter in him back to life. And Qian needed that. He needed it to at least have a possibility to survive this.
I know I said I only wanted to mention one thing about that scene. But I have to mention Yuan biting Quan’s wrist as well, for the reason that I loved that detail. And because biting is my kind of kink. Not that this was kinky. But it does show that biting can prove a point at times.
Lili is so fucking sweet. And that hug at the end, between all three of them…
I really liked this episode, even though I felt disappointed with the editing at the beginning. But, they’re finally together and Qian has gotten his fighting spirit back.
Now there’s only one episode left and it feels bittersweet. I really don’t want this series to end…

I'm baffled that people are hating on you for having an opinion on a fictional Minecraft block man aksbahf. Even as someone who does enjoy FH (mostly the fandom version of it honestly), it's bonkers to judge someone for NOT liking a ship? Or not enjoying a character's behavior? Or for interpreting on-screen interactions differently than they do??? Like jesus, the whole point of fandom is to enjoy it the way you want to. You're not hurting anyone by seeing a pairing as negative based on what you watched. Look at friggin' Desert Duo, half the fandom writes 'em as toxic and divorced, and the other says they're devoted and inseparable. Different stances and interpretations make for a mixed and flavorful fandom experience and a melting pot of awesome stories and art. Good lord, god forbid you like something different or dislike a specific part of a media that you love lol
Keep doing you friend, you're great! <3
- 🧚‍♀️
Oh god if only it were like desert duo, if only... But lmao yeah right!! I'm sorry that Scott smajor damnthatsalongusername is a guy that exists in real life I really don't care. I just want to discuss what I see from the series! And the more I see people with similar opinions to mine talk, the more evident it becomes that those opinions used to be so minimal because of this kind of fandom treatment. And so my heart goes out to anyone who dares talk about said opinions even if it gets them accused of homophobia lol. I'm with you guys...
And the fact that you like FH... but you're on my blog and share this sentiment... Is that so hard... Is it so hard to be decently sensible about different opinions and interpretations...
Also I do like FH too haha, I don't think I can say I ship it but obviously it's really compelling to me, and I've said it before and I'll keep saying it that I very much enjoy a lot of fluffy FH art and I really like them in ESMP1 for example. But no, I said they were toxic in 3L so that means I hate them!!!! It's ridiculous how much of a black and white matter this is to so many people, I don't understand... And the thing is that I WANT to understand! As you said, it's cool and intriguing! Differing discussion only adds to any one subject matter. Soft FH people probably wouldn't change my mind but I'd love to understand their points if only those points weren't something along the lines of "shut up you're wrong" (obviously not everyone!! But it is what I keep seeing in the FH tag lol)
I've seen people proclaim Jimmy as the abusive one, or proclaim ranchers as toxic etc, and I don't see it but man does it intrigue me! It's absurd to me personally, but I'm not telling you to shut up - you can't just say that and not tell me more! I wanna know what people are thinking without shutting one another down...

CHICON 2008 Request (and a tiny sample!)
This is a shot in the dark, but I thought I’d ask. Does anyone have a video of any quality, good or bad, that covers the below portions of the CHICON 2008 panels? I have videos for the vast majority of it, but there are a few small gaps annoying me and I'd love to fill them in. If you have something you’d be willing to let me use in my next set of enhanced con videos, please let me know. I would of course give you credit if I use them! Or anonymity if that's what you prefer. Even an audio file could be useful.
If you don't have anything but you're willing to reblog to increase visibility, that would be awesome too. I haven't had any success the few times I've tried to directly contact fans who were posting content back in these early days, so I don't think many are still out there, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask.
Gap #1: The beginning of Jared’s solo panel, before he starts telling the story about his dogs sleeping with Jensen. I managed to find a very low-quality 30-second video near the beginning where he talks about the fan video that played, but it cuts off. The better-quality videos start just before Jared tells the dog story.
Gap #2: After the J2 panel, immediately after Jared finishes signing the posters and leaves the stage. The videos show Jensen clapping for Jared as he exits, but they cut off mid-clap. The next video picks up post-clap with Jensen saying, “Maybe we should wait ‘til he’s out of the room.” I think there are only a few seconds missing, not really enough to be annoyed by, but... 🤷‍♀️
Gap #3: At the very end of Jensen’s solo panel, as he’s getting ready to leave, he thanks the fans and talks about how many more viewers they've had that season. The last video cuts off before he finishes talking.
Other than that, I have a complete span of content for all three of their panels. It adds up to about 1.5 hours that will be split into 3 videos. I think the gaps are all short. I read through some fan reports and I didn’t see anything mentioned that wasn’t covered in the videos I have, so we're probably not missing anything big.
I'm only just starting the editing process on this set. so it will be a while before I have a new video to release. In case you missed it, I did publish the CHICON 2008 breakfast video earlier this week. Meanwhile, I’ll leave you with this tiny sample of one of the things I’ve wanted to do so many times while watching con videos.
I always go slightly bonkers when Jared and Jensen go off in separate directions on stage, because the camera can’t possibly follow both of them. I usually end up pulling up all the videos and trying to find one that follows each of them so I can flip back and forth between them. 🤣 Now I have the power to take two separate videos and show them simultaneously. This silly thing makes me very happy.
Context: this was at the end of the J2 panel. Jensen made a show of removing Jared's chair, and then Jared took Jensen's chair and replaced it with a smaller chair. It will be more coherent when you see the full video; I mainly wanted to highlight the split screen parts for this post.

even if they were never going to let hopper stay dead after season three because the don't know how to Do That, I still think it's bonkers that they chose to tease him being alive in the post-credits sequence LIKE.
his death felt impactful when I watched it the first time when it was released. it felt like a really big deal and a great set-up for questioning well fuck what are they going to do without him next season? what will happen to El? How will Joyce cope? what will the police force look like without someone in the know in charge?
and yeah, those questions still get answered in season 4, but during that (extra long) hiatus between the two seasons, we didn't even get to relish in ASKING because three minutes after the show ends it's just a letdown of hard-won emotion like. oh. oh he's still alive so no matter what changes it's just gonna... maybe not matter? lasting impact TBD?
there's just. like okay if he HAS to come back from the dead lets think about a slightly different way to do it, yeah? for shits and giggles?
(I am just having fun I am just playing what-ifs please do not take this too seriously fjsdklf)
step one: let the audience actually grieve that character.
let them believe he's dead or at least be very uncertain about his ability to get back up from that particular fight. let them mull on a ST universe without him because that's part of the joy of ongoing TV right?? that we get space to think about what might happen next? let them MOURN.
step two: don't send him to russia.
why are we sending him to RUSSIA when we have access to the opportunity for trapping him in the very dimension his daughter both single handedly opened and closed. why are we sending him to RUSSIA when the upside down was brought into contact with Hawkins by his kid, this girl who he has to find determination to stay alive for, who he has to find pieces of in this rotting place because if she had even some small hand in touching it then there must be something good here right?
(this also has the added bonus of opening up Joyce and Murray for having a more narratively impactful arc too. Like as if they both haven't gone down the government conspiracy rabbit hole in the wake of losing their friend? as if they wouldn't take an opportunity to investigate their OWN government and military if there's some sense that Owens is still hiding something from them?? let Joyce be contradictory in the face of having lost so much; let her outwardly look for a safe place to raise her kids and actively chase down danger because she doesn't know how NOT to at the same time)
(anyways ahem)
step three: don't bring him back in episode one.
maybe not even episode 2 or 3 either. maybe let us watch characters want him or need him or miss him in the aftermath of his loss in a mirror of what the audience feels in the wake of his death too.
step four: bring him back in a moment of high stress or action.
bring him back when Steve's got a bat's tail around his throat and his friends are wailing on monsters with rowboat oars because it's all they've GOT. bring him back-- equally changed, looking hardened and rough on the outside but with this flash of shining hope in his eyes when he realizes-- if they got here, then they can help him get home.
step five: give him the chance to be Different Now.
He's single-minded and single-missioned-- get back to El-- and that has the potential to get in the way of a lot. just because he's in hawkins this time around doesn't mean he's going to be all that helpful when the kids have a different first priority than he does. don't worry, they can still lose this time around, especially when you add the conflict of not knowing how much help Hopper is going to be when he's running exclusively on adrenaline and love for his kid.
step six: the reunion.
there is so much satisfaction to Hopper and El reuniting I love that scene in canon, but imagine how much better it could feel if, instead of his season 4 arc being about getting out of russia it could be about coming home to El.
they've both, in their separation, come to understand each other better this way too-- El because she better understands the grief that has run Hopper's life since Sara died and Hopper because he has become so familiar with the world and the creatures that have haunted El for so many years.
let there be symmetry to their reunion. let Hopper realize he wasn't there when she needed him, let El realize that she left Hawkins when he was there the whole time.
let them both be changed and have to get to know each other all over again.
let them be willing to do it.
bonus alternate tragic ending if you're into that:
there is no reunion because he dies in place of Eddie and El has to face the realization that he's been alive for 10 months only for him to die as soon as they find him and before she even gets to see him okay BYE

River Reads Midnight Sun
Well met, traveler! This is the starting post for my experiment, wherein I, who have never read the Twilight books or seen the movies, read Midnight Sun (basically Twilight from Edward's perspective) and commentate for (hopefully) your entertainment! I decided it would be easiest to do this a chapter at a time, and my commentary will essentially be a summary of each chapter so people equally unfamiliar with the story can follow along. You can follow or block this experiment with the tag #river reads midnight sun.
I think that should do it! Let's get started with:
Chapter 1: First Sight
In which Edward finds high schoolers very Boring and Inane, and also nearly goes bonkers over a potential snack.
First things first: Can we talk about how gross pomegranates look? Is the cover art SUPPOSED to resemble an optical illusion between a halved pomegranate and a bleeding heart? Either way, EW.
Right, on to business!
Edward is bored, you guys. He is SO BORED. High school is so boring. Purgatory is mentioned, as well as “tedium” and “monotonous.” He really wants us to know how bored he is, even though the word “boredom” is not used until the sixth paragraph. But trust me, he’s very bored. One begins to wonder why the immortal 100+-year-old vampire is choosing to hang out daily in such a boring place, but I’m sure it will be explained.
Now we learn about his mindreading powers! This is also very boring because most of the minds he has to read are petty high school minds. By the way, the inane sheeple chatter in the school mindscape today is all about the new girl! I wonder who she could be! Ed sure doesn’t care! He can see every angle of her face via peoples’ thoughts, and he is NOT impressed. Half the “sheep-like males” are crushing on her. Edward’s disdain for them is palpable, almost as if it's not totally normal and fine for human teenagers to find new things like a new student exciting. We may be witnessing a smidge of superiority complex, which is shocking, no doubt.
Mind-reading as a way to introduce other relevant characters is handy, I will grant the author that! Of course, Ed tries not to mindread his fellow vampires out of courtesy, but he KNOWS what they are probably thinking, and boy is he ready to tell us!
Rosalie: Is either actually super hot or super thinks she is, and apparently this debate encompasses her every waking moment. She only compares herself to VAMPIRES, of course, because humans could never be comparably hot. Related to a stagnant pool. Wow, Ed.
Emmett: Hyper competitive guy who has no new thoughts because he says EVERYTHING he thinks. Compared to a glass-clear lake. I suppose that means Ed maybe thinks he has depth? Maybe? We'll err on the side of optimism.
Jasper: Suffering. That’s literally the entire description.
Alice (who can see the future) introduces herself by beaming thoughts at Ed asking how Jasper is doing. Jasper is not doing well. Apparently he is so ready to eat people that he has forgotten how to Human and is sitting in a corpse-like rigor, because it seems when you become a vampire you lose quirks like restless leg syndrome and blinking? This feels full of potential hilarity to me, but I fear such hilarity will not be realized in this Very Serious Book.
Anyway, back to Jasper, who is SUFFERING. Alice asks if there is any danger. Edward signals no. Half a page later, his exposition about Jasper's problem adds, “Jasper was very dangerous right now." Okay, so which is it?! PICK A LANE, ED
(On a genuine note, I already like Alice; she counters Jasper’s fantasies about eating a girl by telling him her name and a few personal facts in a way that shows Alice makes an effort to know her classmates as more than just The Humans. Yay empathy!)
Btw, Ed’s internal monologue indicates they’re hanging out at this school to build their strength and endurance by being around humans and not eating them, and to that I say REALLY??? You chose high school for that?! The one where you’re SUPER BORED?? GO HANG OUT AT A COFFEE SHOP OR SOMETHING
Ope, plot progression! Bella has entered the chat lunchroom. Literally everyone is thinking about Bella, including Jessica, no doubt the requisite catty high school rival who crushed on Edward previously. She has many disgruntled thoughts about Bella, Bella noticing the Cullens, everyone noticing Bella, etc. Ed, who has been doing a great job keeping us up to date on the general thought processes of the student body, takes this moment to assure us once again how much he finds all of this chatter inane AND petty AND trivial, and he’s definitely going to try harder to block them out (again).
Wait, oh my word, was that a line of HUMOROUS BANTER between the Cullens just now?! I have renewed hope for this Very Serious Book!
So Edward is the vampires' mental scout who checks for people suspecting he and his family are inhumanly weird (as opposed to acceptably weird), and naturally he does a brain scan on Bella. Oooo but he’s not hearing anything! And now they have locked eyes! Her eyes are very odd, because of the DEPTH of them! Already, Bella is very Frail and immune to mindreading and somehow has “deeper” eyes than I guess any other human Edward has met in his 100+ years? Ed, I think you need to make eye contact more.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled torrent of inane high schooler thoughts! Amazingly, they are all still focused on Bella and being attracted to or jealous of her, because of course real high schoolers are all Inane and Tedious. (The one exception is Angela, who is busy thinking about homework. I like her, she seems normal.) Jessica is being catty again, and what’s this?! Ed suddenly has this STRANGE URGE to SHIELD Bella from this nasty girl! How very odd and unusual! Especially from a guy who very clearly finds all human teenagers Inane/Petty/Trivial! Bella must be special, except she is also “very unexceptional." Also, Ed is highly frustrated that he can’t read this girl’s mind, despite him constantly reading her like a book and her having “deceptively communicative” eyes.
Rosalie breaks Ed out of his frustration-driven contradictory spiral, and they all go to class, Ed casually mentioning his two medical degrees in an internal dig at his biology teacher (again, why are you hanging out at high school???) Naturally, Bella shows up and the only seat available is the one next to Edward, because Plot everyone is subliminally terrified of him. Ed has a moment of panic wondering if not hearing one girl’s thoughts means he has a vampire disease and is gonna lose all his mindreading, and then he has another moment of empathy for Bella having to sit next to the Scary Vampire.
Then she walks in front of an air duct, and Edward is suddenly overcome with INTENSE BLOODLUST THE LIKES OF WHICH HE HAS NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE!!! He wants to eat her SO BAD, you guys! He spends roughly EIGHT PAGES brooding on how badly he wants to eat her, noticing how delicious she smells, crushing the underside of a desk with his intense self-control grip (but having the presence of mind to “destroy the evidence” by rounding out the finger-shaped hole he just made), analyzing the logistics of eliminating a roomful of witnesses and whether to do so before or after eating her, seeing his monstrous reflection in her eyeballs, angsting over how bad he will feel when he murders a bunch of people, plotting ways of murdering her that WON’T result in collateral damage, questioning Bella’s sanity for daring to SHAKE HER HAIR IN HIS VICINITY, angsting about how disappointed his wonderful adoptive dad Carlisle will be (aww, that’s actually sweet), stubbornly deciding “she can’t make me,” hating Bella with the fury of a thousand suns for daring to smell so delicious, and shutting off his breathing so he has at least some self-control, which does sound uncomfortable but I applaud the effort.
Then class finally ends (for him and for us), and he goes and hides in his car. Which, honestly, relatable.
The car timeout helps restore his sanity, and he determines he does in fact not need to kill her and that hating her guts for smelling like an eight-course dinner probably isn’t fair! He just needs to avoid her as much as possible. Bless your heart for your optimism, Male Lead of a Paranormal Romance Novel.
The solution he comes up with is to charm the poor secretary (who keeps having to remind herself mentally that he’s too young for her, which, augh) into switching him to a different sixth-period course. Bella chooses this opportune moment to walk in, which he doesn’t notice until her DELICIOUS SMELL is blown over him (I question why someone with such advanced senses can only notice powerful smells when he is downwind of them). Edward’s Amazing Vampire Vision kicks in, allowing him to once again see his Monstrous Face in the reflection of her eyes, despite her being over against the wall. He briefly contemplates double homicide, then . . . uh . . . gives up on changing classes so he can walk away. This doesn’t feel like a long-term solution, Ed, but Kudos for the self-control.
The chapter wraps up with him jumping into his car (it’s the end of the day, so the others are waiting for him) and breaking the speed limit out of the parking lot. Alice uses Future Sight (it’s super effective!) to see that Ed is either going to book it out of Forks (the town) or go and murder Bella in her house. I once again have reason to like Alice, who orders him not to do it, adding that it would metaphorically kill Bella’s dad. He drops them off and races away again, not yet sure if he’s going to tell Dad Carlisle that he’s leaving or going to go eat the delicious new girl. And Scene!
Well, that wasn’t as painful as I feared, so huzzah! I kind of appreciate the internal look at his thoughts and how his mindreading lets us see other characters even when they can’t talk. Got a bit long at times, especially with how Inane and Petty and Trivial high schoolers are to Edward! LOTS OF DETAIL about how badly he wanted to eat Bella and possibly murder all bystanders, which I guess does go to show how bad the bloodlust is, because dang! (But why do none of the others have this reaction to her yet? Maybe they just don’t have classes with her. You must be this close to the Bella to ride the maniac vampire train!)
And with that, I have earned a much-deserved break before delving into CHAPTER TWO: OPEN BOOK! I’m sure Edward will totally succeed in his plan to skedaddle out of Forks and never see Bella again! Stay positive, Ed! =Dd

Firefish - a twitter alternative
TLDR: Looks like twitter, functions better. Lets you interact across multiple platforms. Allows NSFW. Has built in anti AI scraping.
If you ever used Twitter, it's going to look similar in structure, so the learning curve is low. There's more features that that, but they're not so intrusive you HAVE to learn them right away but also aren't hard to find. It's a nice balance.
The big difference is post length- it allows up to 8000 characters, so like Mini-Tumblr.
one of the features I like that familiar's but better is if you hover cursor over name on desktop is it pops up the profile for the person and a follow button. So you can immediately hover over name and get context about the person posting when it's not someone you already follow. Is this health info being posted by a professional or by someone that thinks you should stick rocks in your vagina?
That feature also means its incredibly easy to follow people regardless of the instance. On Mastodon it was extremely annoying to follow people. If that the thing that put you off Mastodon, Firefish fixed that and made it better than Twitter.
Firefish runs off ActivityPub, so it lets you follow and interact with anyone using the plugins for that. So includes Mastodon, WordPress, PeerTube, Pixelfed, Lemmy, Misskey, and Tumblr is allegedly developing an integration to run it.
Okay, NSFW content! We're about to get slightly in the weeds here. whether NSFW content is allowed is generally by server. When you go to join Firefish, it'll ask you what server you want to use and it'll tell you about rules. If you want NSFW, pick one that allows!
That's it. If you picked one that did not, it generally won't allow you to follow things that do or boost stuff from a location that did.
NOW, A GREAT FEATURE! Spoilering stuff is super easy on Firefish. Just click the button! Say you see something you wanna boost but its *not* spoilered. You can boost AND spoil the image/text of the quoted item! MAGIC.
now, on to antennas.
The Antenna feature on there lets you track tags or users in a separate panel so you can see it in one spot. You can also add NEGATIVE tags to the antenna. So say you want to see news about your city. So you set the main tag as the City. But you don't want sports news. So you can put in negative tags of sports, specific sport names, and individual teams in the city. And then you get news about the location, but no sports
For fandom purposes, you can use it to filter out things you just don't vibe with. hate that one ship? BEGONE.
PROFILES: you can stick hashtags in your profile and it'll turn up in searches easily. also it will ask you "are you a cat?" If you say yes, it gives your profile pic cat ears.
Overall when I'm posting links to Firefish posts (or posts via something from ActivityPub hosted sites that I interacted with via Firefish), so far it renders the preview link well on most platforms. I'm not sure how it works for embedding a whole message into a static page (like you could do with Twitter for news articles).
AN IMPORTANT NERDY NOTE: okay, you wanna sign up for Firefish now. Select from the servers offered some have different rules restrictions and some have Non-english default languages. Pick the one you like. If you pick Firefish.social itself that one IS the largest but also it gets day one code updates... so sometimes it gets funky or won't load properly for a few hours. If that will drive you bonkers, pick *any* other server. The server size is almost irrelevant because Firefish plays so well with other services!
also, if you don't see one today, check again in a few days! admins rotate through open enrollments to keep the growth rate managable. also, if you're *that* kind of nerd, you can host your own server. Even with only YOU on it. and it still interacts normally with the rest of the ActivityPub servers!

Do you also feel that the power to make sentimonsters could have easily been another power for the butterfly and no one would have batted an eye?
I mean technically the Butterfly kinda has done sentimonsters in a sense, as some akumas do get extra outside of them to act as a means of transportation and a boost of power and it works along their agenda.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Take something like Refleckdoll and you got to wonder, why is that a sentimonster and not just an add on to Refleckta? Because it acts as something for Reflckta to pilot so... why is it a sentimonster?
Tumblr media
Another factor is that sentimonsters are tied to emotions and Butterfly's power has long been tied to emotions, to a point I considered it more for Emotion than Transmission. So sentimonsters didn't really bring in anything new, aside from sentipeople which I really hate, especially the insistence that they're actually people. It kinda brings about a can of worms to question, like should a miraculous really have the power to just casually make life? Especially knowing that everything made is allve. Also if terminating that sentimonster is terminating life, does that make you a murderer? And the leads take out sentimonsters too so...
I just find it to be a really iffy power in how they went about it and how Thomas clarifies it.
I really think it would've been better for them if sentibeings (or whatever a friendlier term for them is) were just animated dolls/puppets, and depending on their creation can depend on how "alive" they are, but they're still not truly alive. They act out the role they were made for, they could be complex mentally and emotionally, but they're not truly alive. They don't need what true living things need, like eating and sleeping, nor do they fear termination, if anything may just stress about not continuing the role they were made for if it's not "done" for them. They're not flexible enough to deviate from what they were made for. And depending on the complexity of their creation and the role they're to play, they could end up quite problematic for their creator.
Like, I'm half joking and half serious of maybe thought that Lila should've been confirmed a sentibeing with all her wild lies and how everyone's IQ drops and at this point her lies are just off the walls bonkers (like seriously she's just a 13-14 yo what is going on with her???). Could be a Peacock was rivals with that ancient Fox, so made Lila in her likeness to cause her problems in her civilian life, and Lila never got dismissed so she existed on lying and being antagonistic and chaotic as that's what she was made to do and given this magical purpose, everyone is compelled to believe her and not think too hard about what she says. And she drifts to Paris drawn in by the miraculous activity, she works with HM cause he's causing chaos and may secretly plan to double cross him, she picks on Marinette as Marinette caught onto her lies, she targets Adrien cause Adrien's an easy target, ect..
Like, of all the characters to be confirmed to be a creation of the Peacock, I vote it should've been Lila cause everything with Lila is just wild. Her being this immortal gremlin and agent of chaos and made out of peer spite would make more sense than whatever is even going on with her.
Side note, this power is tied to making "life" which is form of creation, so, why isn't making sentibeings actually a Ladybug power as that's literally Creation? And can you imagine the relief Marinette could get learning that she could just make this efficient Ladybug doll that could do her job for her, she could take a break, keep the earrings safe, and just destress cause Sentibug is made to be the best LB hero out there and she's nailing.
Marinette just catches up on a week of sleep.

Final Doctor Who TV Movie Thoughts
incredibly homosexual undercurrents. why’s the master Like That. they had to be doing that on purpose. i mean, just the robes alone. he dresses for the occasion. oh there’s definitely queercoding here. also he got tardis vored. nuwho bring up that time he got tardis vored challenge. no im not being weird about it i just want him to describe to the doctor what being digested by a time machine was like. did he enjoy it. wait come back i have more things to say about the movie-
eight is a sopping wet cat. i understand why he is beloved. i too wish to wrap him in a warm towel and/or beat him with hammers. he’s adorable. he’s fun. once again, somehow they managed to find a perfect guy to cast as the doctor. how do they do that. not a single miss so far??? out of the seven i’ve met??? not one????? incredible. loved his little vest, loved his humming, loved how he had absolutely zero chill ever and did not know how to Not talk about being a freak alien man, loved that he had amnesia for all of like seven minutes for no reason.
i really liked grace and lee. grace is a great straight man to the doctor’s bouncy nonsense, and she saved the day by figuring out the tardis :D also swerved the bullet of loving that man, thank GOD. get out of there girl. you saw what his ex was like. lee is my favorite kind of doctor who character, of which right now the category is him and lucy saxon. the master’s temp companions <3 love when that awful terrible man has to play nice to achieve his goals. love when he has to bond with people against his will. also hilarious to me that lee was just like ‘no, i really am just in this cause he’s gonna give me money and power.’ and the movie says he is RIGHT to want this, just wrong for trusting the master to give it to him, so he gets it in the end. good for him. direct action.
the plot was bonkers nonsense and that made it better. so funny to me that they retconned in the doctor being half-human but it never comes up as plot relevant ever and it will never be mentioned again. the eye of harmony is <3 bless <3 so fucking stupid <3 whys it take a human to open it. why can you open it when all it seems to do is suck up planets and time lord lives. why do they even have that lever. there’s like a horrifying implication here that time lords would keep a human onboard just so that they’d have a way to open their tardis’s eye of harmony. same energy as having a canary for your coal mine. i know this wasn’t intentional but it’s just fucked up enough that i almost want it to be canon despite it being so stupid, if only because it adds another layer to the doctor mostly seeming to gravitate towards human companions. but probably best if, like a lot of things this movie decides should be canon, we ignore it.
we shouldn’t ignore the master being able to goop people with his spit though. that’s hilarious. i wanna see them bring that back in modern who. look, any master would do BUT. i feel like for the best effect we gotta bring mr simm back so he can spit goop on people like a feral beast. here’s how saxteen can still win-
what else. what else. guys. that’s a really fun movie. it was Not good. but it was amazing. you get me? i had a great time. structurally it was a mess, the story was in shambles, but i do not care. all the characters were fun, the eighth doctor is fantastic, and i loved it. its probably gonna be a comfort movie of mine from now on. its just so silly.

Do you have any tips or advice for people with ADHD that struggle with writing?
ADHD writing advice?
I have been asked this before and the last time I said this:
I am NOT the person to ask about advice when it comes to ADHD management. That's something very individual and different things work for different people and I'm in no way qualified to speak on that.
Now, I am currently myself in talks with my therapist about me having some form of ADHD/ADD (which, you know... makes sense of a lot of things in retrospect). This being said: I am still no expert on the topic and especially not on your specific brain. We all work a bit different. I too struggle with writing a lot and I found that for me it's all about figuring out how my brain likes things. And isn't that the universal ADHD struggle?
I hyperfixate on stuff and then I burn out, so I need to account for that by
a) always having my phone with me so I can write down ideas, sentences, whole scenes whenever they hit me, because unless I am so obsessed with them that I can't stop thinking about them, I will simply not remember them and I will KNOW that I had something great I can't remember now and it will drive me bonkers.
b) figuring out how much planning I need to do. I personally need an outline (I call it "The Murder Board Method") to stay focused, but it can't be too detailed or I will loose interest. That's something very specific to the individual, I've seen people talk about instantly loosing interest the second they finished an outline, so lots of ADHD writers seem to be discovery writers.
c) allowing myself to write what I am excited about. Sometimes writing may seem like a bit of a chore when you are not motivated to write the scene you are currently working on. So I allow myself to jump around and write the scenes I am currently obsessed with. Sometimes that means only writing bits and pieces and later glueing them together. It can get disorganized but it's way more fun for me that way.
d) accepting that I will never have a routine, because my brain struggles with routines. So, while I often recommend people to build a writing routine, because it helps a lot of people, I myself just can't do it. Like, seriously, after 10 years of having to take medication every day, I still need a reminder on my phone! I actually also have reminders on my phone to remind me of going to the bathroom or drink water once in a while...
So yeah, bonus tip: set yourself reminders to take breaks while writing in case you are hyperfocusing and can't register that your bladder is actually in distress.
e) figuring out how to get in the zone. Something that helps me a lot with that is finding the right music. I spend a lot of time looking for songs with the right "vibe" I want to emulate, and sometimes I spend like... hours, listening to the same song on repeat. I also, when I struggle really bad, try to just sit down and write whatever comes to mind. Zero filter, zero censoring, stream of consciousness. Just write down your whole thought process. Even if you write ten times “I don’t know what to write”. Sometimes it feels like uncorking a bottle of champagne that build up a lot of pressure and suddenly it just all spills out. Furthermore I found that engaging with writing content (like here on tumblr for example) gets me back into my excitement about the writing itself!
f) making a game out of it. I like checking things off a to do list. So by making little goals for myself and being able to chek them off, it kinda gives me a feeling of accomplishment and I can get myself a treat :)
So yeah, this might be very unhelpful for you, but maybe it will help someone out there.
Have fun writing!

That anon about the keyhole arch reminded me of a point you often make that seems to be very difficult for some people to grasp (I’m not talking about anon, it just reminded me of the concept.)
When we think Taylor (and Karlie) are giving hints, it very often isn’t an EXACT copy of the original thing she’s referencing. Whether it’s clothes, or a flower, or a location, or even an eye, it’s usually just something that’s reminiscent without being undeniable. So the keyhole arch not actually being the one at Pfeiffer Big Sur beach doesn’t mean it’s not supposed to remind us of that. Heck, the Vogue photoshoot wasn’t even done in Big Sur (it was Malibu.) Similarly, a shirt that isn’t exactly the same but is the same color, or a similar style, an archway or a checker board pattern, or the colors of a certain flag, etc etc etc, in our world view it’s just a fun hint, it’s not supposed to be some sort of irrefutable proof, and I think you’re either confident in your beliefs, and understand that, or you’re a doubter who’s looking for reassurance, but always sees holes in the evidence. Not that we all aren’t both of these from time to time, it’s not black and white.
And we don’t always all agree that something means something, and we sometimes think someone is reaching too far with what they see as a hint, but we still have this understanding that this is what’s happening and we’re going to see it and we’re going to enjoy it, even if they didn’t mean to do it or we are being delusional occasionally. It doesn’t really matter if one individual thing is meaningful, it’s the whole grand game that we’re playing for years now that is fun and can feel very meaningful.
I appreciate how you are always able to do this and enjoy things.
Tumblr media
↑ yeah this part right here this is it
you worded this all very masterfully, thank you!
one thing i wanted to add is that i think a lot of the ‘reach’ and ‘proof’ conversation comes more naturally when you are not there yet with kaylor and/or you engage a lot or are active a lot on places where the people around you are actively out there to disprove kaylor and you end up in a position of defending or wanting to defend yourself
once you sort of realize, or have fallen completely into the orbit of kaylor and aren’t thrown off orbit by things anymore, and you let go of a want to prove kaylor to people who willfully don’t want to see it, and you no longer are holding out for vindication, then it just becomes more fun and easy and casual to think about and engage with the language of symbolism and optics that have proven themselves over a period of years.
this is why i often say that our blogs don’t exist for the purpose of proving kaylor to others. a lot of the more skeptical newcomers come here with an attitude of wanting to be told and expecting it.
but if you really really believe in kaylor all the way, when you really get there, you kind of become protective of the best parts, or, more open to letting go of correcting all the wildly incorrect things other parts of the fandom literally make up, and accusations of reaching for a lot of stuff don’t hurt anymore because it shouldn’t be smoking gun stuff or like me personally i like that a lot of stuff that i say about the eye theory sounds bonkers because, well, sometimes tempering one’s credibility from time to time is a good thing!

Battle Commentary: War Changes a Lot, Actually (and for the better)
Tumblr media
I'll let you in on a little big secret: I didn't like MOM limited at all. It felt swingy and uncoordinated, lumpy and unfocused, not quite format-warping but more about the spectacle than the impact on gameplay. I also had my absolute best limited tournament in my life playing with MOM, but that's a story for another day. The point is that battles, in the end, were pretty okay in a format not designed to fully showcase their abilities, in my opinion. So what did y'all do? You had some absolutely bonkers choices that are thoughtful, creative, weird, and show some wonderful ways that Magic players think about their cards.
The main strength of these submissions were their dynamism of ideas, for sure. "What does a battle look like" is so fresh in the universe of MTG players still, and how we go about looking at that together has made for so many cool possibilities. My most common stumbling block was the inverse/parallel problem that planeswalkers have: where do I attack? Attacking an opponent's planeswalker is a way to get rid of a threat, but attacking a battle is a choice of advantages and a choice of defenses. Where does one go in their combat step, and why, and how do the cards change that decision? I don't feel that every card really considered that, but we'll see what that looks like in the commentary.
I had a lot to say about the good of these cards, so I reserved the JUDGE PICKS for two ideas that piqued my understanding of players' understanding. Read on!
~
@bergdg — Invasion of Berimish / Avoid Casualties
Tumblr media
Don't worry about the formatting for this card. I'd worry more about the novel being more or less unknown to me—but don't worry, I checked the synopsis, and I understand the purpose of this card's various pieces. The invasion feels pretty identical to the planning part of the described siege, and avoiding casualties feels on-point as well. I'm impressed that this card feels like something that could ultimately be depicted in MTG's history; what I mean is that, despite this novel perhaps not being the most well-known among newer players, it fulfills all the expectations of players familiar to the source material.
In terms of power level, I feel that the cost to effect ratio is lacking on the backside and on the starting defense for the battle. Attacking the battle should feel pretty difficult, and gaining a not-insignificant amount of life is fine, but at the point that you're attacking, I feel that you'll have already needed to get to a game state where you're able to swing through. So what do the stun counters add? I like this card a lot even without the background that you have because of the clear love put into it. My question is, do you think Avoid Casualties can have an effect that more clearly rewards the combat required to hit the Invasion? Heh, in a multiplayer format, it would be interesting if the sorcery also made you the monarch.
~
@coolcoolcooltighttightight — The Bant-Grixis Conflict / Crux of Battle
Tumblr media
This card has a lot of moments where I get the principle behind the card; at the same time, I'm a little iffy on the choices of mechanical representation. Mainly, I'm curious why black and white were the colors you settled on here. Esper and Grixis overlap in the UB category, and if your intention was to show the general conflict without necessarily one winner, why not have colors that either could share, with a reward that was specific to one side or another? Black and white makes this fairly easily to cast in a dedicated Esper shell, but not a Grixis one. That said, I suppose I get why you went with the modal choices that you did, and gameplay-wise, this card feels totally normal, if not envelope-pushing conceptually.
Now, I'm a huge Alara fan, and I think the flavor text is a cool way to go about this battle. I appreciate this card's dedication to that. When we're on the battlefield, the concept stumbles with the fact that we are indeed not looking to tell the story of a nonspecific aspect of the world—rather, the player should feel in control of their presentation, and feel the specificity of the action being presented. How, for example, would the action on the back side differ, art-wise? Negotiations vs. conflict? The result of a battle is a decisive victory, and the crux, as a choice, doesn't feel right now like it gives direction to said action.
~
@cthulhusaurusrex — Retake the Capital! / Plaza of the First Tree
Tumblr media
Well, this card certainly doesn't like the dragons of Tarkir, that much is clear. I do get the desire to have the clans return to the world in the forms that had taken shape post timeline-reconstruction. I think there's this inherent problem of the multiple generations that had passed between the shift from FRF to DTK. Like, there's this newly established relationship between dragons and denizens, there's this historical division that separated the clans from one of their colors of mana, resulting in new strength—y'know? Flavorfully this card can't really make sense of its own story.
On the gameplay side, while you portray the action clearly, this card feels oddly off-kilter. A four-mana three-color Plummet isn't exactly appealing when, following that, you have to send six damage at a card that already nixes a huge chunk of flying creatures' power. The anthem is good, but at that point the winmore of reach feels almost...well, I won't say "tacky," but the degree to which it's clear that the dragons are hated is almost too evident. Without the story basis or the mechanical resonance to hold it together, this card feels like it could use sturdier bones before taking flight.
~
@greensunzenith — Battle for Thraben
Tumblr media
I assume that you control this card, and that it enters the battlefield under your control, but who defends it? Does each player defend it? There's this really cool sense of possibility on your card but the mechanical background feels frustrating to parse. The other problem is that, uh, I think I grok it completely and it would be a pain to explain rules-wise. But once again: my gist is that each player can choose to attack this card during combat, and other players can defend it? Sure, sensible. In a multiplayer game, who can defend this card? Can each opponent choose to defend it if it's attacked? If so, hoo boy, that's either gonna put a target on your back or just prolong the game with creatures galore.
Pausing just for a moment, because I think it's actually quite funny how much this messes with the game state by making sooooo many bodies. You basically have the ability to defend this battle with any of your dorks and then get six more power on the following turn because you'll have stopped the opponent's attack. Right? That feels unbalanced to me. Multiple battles mean that your opponents can basically never catch up without evasion, and you'll have at least one defensive turn. So, I love Innistrad, but this card may have needed a little bit of tweaking and rules explanation before I can love it too.

I don't really know how to feel about this card, actually. In limited, if I can connect for four damage, what's the likelihood that I'd be swinging that at a Rampant Growth every turn? In a Commander game, perhaps it would be easier to justify with a strong evasive group, and I can see the application in a group hug deck. The question is how much winmore-ing can something like this card type suggest before the benefits become not worth attacking.
"Pursuit" as a card type is absolutely cool, though, and I think that this idea is worth exploring. Considering something that can be more impactful for an opponent's board, or give you benefits with abilities that would help you in other scenarios besides just combat. Or, benefits can be suggested after a certain amount of defeating; for example, what if you got a combat benefit from having a number of lands or land types whenever this entered? It would encourage you to attack it more, instead of being basically a sorcery-speed ramp card that stopped your opponents from losing life 'cause you're swinging at a battle instead. When you have a card like a battle, the question becomes that of what benefit you'd get from a battle that's better than just hitting your opponents in the face. What environment does that looks like? What can a card looks like to suggest something about that environment?

@mmmmmin — Battle of Duplicitous Rage (JUDGE PICK)
Tumblr media
Once more we run into rules questions of where this battle is, who can defend it, etc. This time, what I want to highlight is the importance of the multiplayer aspect and what this card does on the battlefield. This isn't so much a goading kind of card as it is a twist on combat that highlights just what a battle can do. A nontoken attacker might prevent an opponent for being able to swing with their most important (targetable) creature at you, but if you can get the battle to stick around, you can force the swings at other players. If that's beneficial, they may choose to defend the battle for you, but it's a complicated choice. What does combat need to look like?
Of course this card is hella situational and there are aspects where the right deck could use this card and annihilate its opposition. Myriad and attack triggers and all that jazz is...quite powerful. Another thing I like about this card is its understanding of commander/multiplayer flavor. Perhaps it is set on a specific world, but it's a card about rage, and it can be a little abstract, because the evocation is around the emotion created on the battlefield associated with gameplay rather than the action-specifics of the story or art in question. You've got a card that knows it's a card and that players can connect to their in-game emotions. I think that that's neat. I grok the implied rules text, too, but we for sure need them written out for general purposes on cards like this.

@nine-effing-hells — War with the Dragon Tempests / Khanfall

This kind of sorcery is what a back side needs to be. Big effect, big gameplay swing, worth the effort. I'm right there with you. It's interesting how many parallels some of these cards have with each other within this contest, and also how their uniqueness changes both the feeling of the cards and how it demonstrates people's understanding of battles. The double-removal of defense counters (attacking or dragons) is an interesting story call, too, and that's where I have my interrogative questions.
Is this card supposed to depict how both the Tarkirians and the Dragons initiated the Khanfall? Presumably, your warriors will be attacking the battle, and also the dragons once they enter, so that's...somewhat disconnected? No, not disconnected, but I'm just not fully certain if the conflict being depicted is the same as what would be happening on the battlefield—or rather, who's fighting the battle. The dragons win, but what is the depiction on the gameplay battlefield? I think this one might be a problem with my understanding of the Tarkir story and not something the card is doing wrong necessarily. It's a strong card and that flavor text is awesome with the implications around it.

@reaperfromtheabyss — Elspeth's Entire Krokt-damned Life / Beseech the Powerful
Tumblr media
I'm not not amused by the name. It's a bit much, though, and I'll take it with a grain of salt despite that. What gets me is that I'm really not sure what it's supposed to be depicting here, what the battle actually is in the end. On the flip side, I assume that the sorcery is supposed to be calling Elspeth to wherever the battle is, so maybe the front side is depicting the various fights that have summoned her? Either way, for the back side, you might want to have changed the name down there. What I like about the back side is that the recurring battle allows for this card to employ long-term legendary toolbox strategies, which gives the battle reason to want to be attacked. That much is super cool.
With the name thing, this really shows how much the name matters. I think that my understanding is really impaired by a lack of serious specificity. If this is supposed to be serious and I'm just not groking it, that's on me, and I apologize. Maybe I'm just distracted and that's that. On the goodside-flipside, I like where this card is going, with battles that demonstrate planeswalkers' abilities and histories as they relate to the multiverse-spawning locations and situations that seem to call them. It could be fun to see more of them, like Garruk's hunt, Chandra's search, Huatli and Saheeli's honeymoon, etc.

@ship-of-skitties — The Brothers' Final Fight (JUDGE PICK)
Tumblr media
So I want to give this card a judge shoutout because it's immensely frustrating to me how well those symbols work. The opposing colors are all fine for their types of tutoring because tutors and planeswalker tutors are centered in white and black, so you need one of those. Cost reduction of certain spells, well, that's in both blue and red. Shablam. Some of these combos are weird, like how this could be run in a red/white deck, but then you have the battle that turns into the message and it's clear the kind of deck that this is supposed to be going into. I do want to add, and this isn't so much a criticism as it is a weakness of Magic's visual system: all that hybrid next to each other isn't the most aesthetically appealing and would 100% never be printed. But we live in the best of all worlds here.
Mechanically, this card's fine, and flavorfully, this card is also pretty great. The flavor text on the front side isn't what I would usually like from a MTG perspective but works well from a poetic perspective. Teferi's quote is sensible—is that directly from the story? I actually liked the BRO fiction pieces a lot. Right, all the same: checks out. I don't recall seeing your username a lot, so I assume you're a fresher contestant than some here, so like, props for swinging for the fences and landing gracefully. Great restrictions, great build-around, great choices for specific setting, great power level to rarity balance, weird weird weird card.

@sparkyyoungupstart — The Second Apostasine War
Tumblr media
Speaking of swinging for the fences, wowzers. There is a lot of text on this card but I'm not completely lost. I grok it completely, and I want to give you a hint: every instance where the name of this card appears outside its name box could be shorted to "this battle" and remove a lot of space. The thing about this card is its power level and where this would be played. I assume this is for commander, because once this card is dealt its twenty damage, the defending player would most likely have lost a significant amount of life. How do you expect this battle to be defeated before that player loses just from this first trigger alone?
It seems like a fun exercise, but there's a paradox of sorts. If you swing with a bunch of small creatures at the battle, the defending player will lose an immense amount of life and probably die. If you swing with one massive creature, chances are you'd be better off just swinging at your opponent. The point of MTG gameplay is, in the end, to incentivise ways to win the game, and this card doesn't do much of that past the first ability. If the first two triggers were advantages and the last one was more directly about life loss/damage, then that would certainly make more sense. The way that you have created this card is amazing and I love the thought process. The actual in-game text is in conflict with how this card works to win the game.

That's all for now! Pick your battles and count your blessings—or the other way around, too.

I once found myself foolishly complaining to my old therapist about some deeply unsatisfying exchange I had on tumblr with somebody who had willfully misconstrued what I said and was going after me about what they decided I meant, just because that was what they would rather talk about. You know, the usual. My therapist threw me off my game by just asking my why I post here to begin with, instead of indulging my desire to passionately bitch and moan. She seemed very skeptical about whatever I said, I had the idea that she wanted me to admit that I was either looking for a fight, or attention, or validation from a bad source where I am destined to encounter a lot of friction. (Man o man, if only she knew about the absolutely bonkers and irrational "you are valid" culture we have here...) And I mean, she's right, you ARE destined to encounter a lot of friction on tumblr if you do anything remotely personal with it, but somehow that annoyance can be outweighed by
a) the internal satisfaction of putting your thoughts in order
b) the catharsis of venting, even into the void
c) the small but unignorable possibility that someone will deeply understand what you said, or have something relevant and provocative to add based on their own unique and valuable experience/expertise.
I think about turning off replies all the time now, quite a lot of the time there's someone being rude either on purpose or inadvertently, because they're too obtuse or thoughtless to consider the implications or real usefulness of what they are saying. Sometimes I think about turning off reblogs on everything too, and I'm trying to develop the habit of stopping before I post to ask myself, every single time, how I'm going to feel when some total cretin reblogs something that is obviously either not universally applicable (e.g. just personal in-the-moment venting) or actually not their business (discussion of personal tragedy that you'd think people would have the good sense to leave alone, like just let strangers who need to talk about something do so in peace?). All of these things have happened more and more lately, and I think what would be really great for me is if I developed a much tougher hide, if I developed a mental baleen that filters out all the shit I don't need to care about and lets in all the tasty, nutritious stuff that I'm actually here for, that I like so much that it makes all the chaff totally worth it.
My problem is that I don't have that natural thing that tells you what incoming stimulus is relevant and what you can completely ignore, I'm curious about EVERYTHING especially how other people think and behave. When I hear something insulting or idiotic directed at me I immediately start processing it like it's a mystery that it is my duty to unravel, instead of casually throwing it in the trash like I should. This morning I posted about how I was reminded of a personal tragedy by some stupid thing a business did to me, and I get this complete stranger unloading his own version of that tragedy, only to then condemn me morally for my interaction with the business. Like does he think I'm going to be so humbled by his "direct action" that it's going to change the world? What was the goal besides picking a fight before the sun is all the way up in the sky? Yesterday I posted links to a bunch of film scholarship I published along with some new blu ray releases, literally calling it my life's work, and somebody reblogged it and put in the tags that they don't like one of the movies and they don't know what the other two are. So...what was the point here? Are you planning on buying two expensive collector's editions of movies you don't know by a director you don't like? I mean thanks for promoting my work, I guess if the price of your sponsorship is that you say rude, pointless things that don't mean anything to anyone, then I'll take it? It might have a positive impact on my mental health if I turned off replies and reblogs universally, but then I wouldn't get to hear from any of the smart and nice guys I've met on here who have opened my eyes to all sorts of things. So yeah my Christmas wish or New Year's resolution or whatever is to give a shit much, much more selectively, for the rest of my life.
PS Regarding disagreements on the internet: There is an important qualitative difference between someone saying something you find disagreeable on their own blog, which you don't even have to be aware of if you don't want to, and someone going out of their away to like cross into your yard to start a fight about what's on your blog ~as if~ you had called them on the phone and said it directly to them personally. Most of what you see on the internet doesn't require your input at all, if you don't really have anything to add except your own emotional content. The difference: Learn it, know it, live it!

Tumblr media
1] STELLAR UNION ! ░ you get along the best with ...
CHILDE !
—childe is, most definitely interested in your bubbly chaotic nature! it caught his attention as soon as his gaze fell upon you and finding it amusing, he could not help but stare at you for a moment longer than a stranger should before he turned with a smile. he would enjoy your witty and sarcastic nature and whine about people he didn't like in front of you. he would feel so much better after you diss them out and would feel even better when you treat him out to ice cream.
he would stand with you as a pillar of support when you felt down and doubted your abilities. he would compliment your bubbly and excited nature and add his unique charm to the mix. he wouldn't mind your slip-ups and bluntness either, in fact, he would come to adore them instead. if you ever made a mistake or accidentally were rude to someone, he wouldn't mind patching it up for you. if you asked, he would also point your fault out for you and help you improve. he would adore listening to your favourite artists and would recommend some of his favourite ones too! if it ever reaches that point, he would love to teach you a little russian.
CYNO !
—cyno admires funny people, alright? he was simply dead after you cracked that lorax joke on tighnari, and even though tighnari reprimanded him for it, he couldn't help but want to be friends with you. he would adore your lively and happy nature and let himself relax in your company. initially, your snarkiness would catch him off guard, but when he realized you were just kidding, he would feel much more at peace with you. he would exchange ideas with you and enjoy speaking to you. he would adore how you had strong opinions about certain things and would share his views as well.
—he would share his favourite authors with you and read your favourite books to understand you better. he would simply say 'no' when you were insecure or unsure of your intelligence and help you look at all your good traits and restore confidence in you. he would want you to be shamelessly confident and would do anything for it. he wants you to understand that sometimes, you can just let loose and forget the world to do what you truly want. he doesn't mind your occasional slip-ups either, he would come to grow very understanding of it, though he would rather you don't pull his leg too much in front of others.
HU TAO !
—hu tao admires an energetic disposition and a lively composure. it makes her feel not only understood for her exuberant and bright love for life, but also gives her another person to be bonkers with. she loves your sarcastic and witty nature, and enjoys pulling others' legs with you. she would like to hang out with you because you can adjust to her energy level without whining. she would enjoy exploring places with you and sharing her favourite songs with you.
—she feels that you two are pretty much on the same frequency of energies, and would find it easier to admit or share things with you. she would feel accepted and loved in your presence. she would love how you effortlessly make her feel wanted when others ignore her and she simply smiles, only you and her knowing about her true hurt. not to worry though, you're kind enough to help her patch up even after that, and you know just how to make anyone smile!
4] FALLEN STARS ! ░ your life in genshin would look like ...
—depth of emotion and versatility of nature is something that deserves to be addressed by people and gods alike. you would be blessed by the four winds and the archon of the skies—an anemo vision would be your first blessing in this lifetime. with ideals such as yours, it would be highly likely that you would find home in a place such as sumeru where such themes are entertained and admired.
—you would find yourself a place in the academia easily, and people would know you for your subtelty of words yet the impact they have on others. many people would be repulsed by your exuberance, of course, but that doesn't mean that for most of them it doesn't come from a place of envy. people would be curious about how you were that intelligent and witty but still managed to be so curious and excited for life and witnessing its treasures. many would try to defame you by taking your lack of social cues as an excuse, though.
—with your anemo vision, it would be so much easier to research, explore and gain popularity! people would flock around you, and you would find yourself being often complimented. may i even suggest, dehya, nilou and kaveh and a few others would be enthralled by you. they would find your enthusiasm contagious and perfectly aligning with their own philosophy of life. they would like speaking to you and having a good laugh at your wittiness and funny nature.
—if your interests lie elsewhere though, don't hesitate! with a vision, especially anemo, the sky and seas are with you. you would do well as an explorer or a researcher as well, and even in a feild where popularity fluctuates and is rarely found, you would find great success. people would think of you as an amzing partner to work with and even though your bluntness could throw some people off, it's okay to be assertive when you're being so kind.
