ADHD money/budgeting system I'm currently using for my benefit is going well (I've been using it for like half a year now?), and I wanna recommend it.
You Need a Budget is EXCELLENT. 10/10 do recommend. Uhhh rambling about it and my generic disclaimers + gushing extensively under the cut but TL;DR I think it's great for ADHD ppl, I've used it for 6+ months now and I find it super SUPER helpful. also weirdly fun.
DISCLAIMERS:
Budgeting helps you understand/know your money, it can't make money appear where there is none.
Everyone should learn to budget even if you don't have much money (especially then)
This is NOT a magic trick solution. Just like everything else, it is an assistive tool. This is one of those adult things we can't simply opt out of without negative consequences, though.
My advice is based on something I am currently able to do. That is, I can spend an amount of money on this specific thing that works well for me. If you have no extra money to spend then previously I was tracking things in a notebook. So you can still do this.
I believe Dave Ramsey is a fundie fraud/hack and no one should listen to him about money.
DID YOU KNOW THEY CANCELLED MINT???
Okay? OKAY.
Ahem.
You Need a Budget is EXCELLENT.
It is called YNAB for short. The first 34 days are your free trial, and that is my referral link. If anyone uses it and then signs up for a subscription, we both get a month free. Also you can share a subscription with up to six people (account owner can see everything but individuals can pick and choose what they share amongst each other) so like...idk your whole polycule can be on one account. Or your kids. Whatever.
If you are a student, it's free for a year. If you aren't, a subscription is $99 for a year (paid all at once) or $14.99 monthly, which is equivalent to paying Amazon prime. Go cancel Prime and get this instead tbh.
They got a whole article just on ynab and ADHD. They also have like...a big variety of ways to access their info? They have a book, podcast episodes, YouTube videos, blog posts, q&A's, free live workshops you can join (you can request live captioning), emails they can send (if you want) a wiki, and so on. They got workshops on all kinds of topics!!
So whatever ends up working for your brain. It also has a matching app.
If you lost Mint this year they have a gajillion things for moving from Mint.
Also they have a "got five minutes?" Page which has a slider so you can decide how much attention/time you have before going on lol:
Tumblr media
They only have 4 rules of the budget, they're simple and practical, and it doesn't get judgey or like...mean about your spending.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Give every dollar a job 2. Embrace your true expenses 3. Roll with the punches 4. Age your money.
THEN THEY BREAK THESE DOWN INTO SMALL STEPS FOR YOU! They even have a printable! Also these rules are great because there's built in expectations that things WILL HAPPEN and it's NOT all or nothing with a fear of total collapse into failure. Reality and The Plan don't always align, especially if you have ADHD. So it's directing our energy towards the true expenses and not clinging to The Plan!! over reality.
You can automate a lot of shit (you can sync with your bank accounts just like mint, but also automate tagging the categories of regular expenses/transactions). And if for whatever reason you accidentally do something that makes the budget look weird or wrong:
A) you can usually fix it somehow OR b) they have like, a button you can press that gives you a clean slate and archives the previous version of the budget for you.
So if you forget for a few weeks or months, or accidentally input something wildly wrong, or just don't want to look at a really terrible month anymore and feel like you need a fresh start you can usually either fix it or start fresh which is really nice.
The app also (for whatever reason) scratches my itch to have things like...have incentives or little game-like goals in a way mint never did? I don't know why. Filling up the bars or putting money into the categories to cover my expenses is satisfying lmao. You can also make a big wish expense category for all the fun shit you want, and fund it whenever you can and then you can see the little bar go up and that's fun.
Anyways I've been using it for like 6+ months now and I think it's really helped me when I use it.

wibta if I told my best friend they can no longer move in with my family next year?
Me (17f) and my friend (17) have been friends for about 5 years. Around 6 months ago we were discussing university and they mentioned they wanted to study at the university that is in my city. We discussed them potentially moving into my house while they study here. They would still be paying rent, it would just be a bit cheaper for them and we would get to live together. I discussed this with my parents and after a while they said yes.
The problem is recently I haven't actually been feeling very supported or understood by my friend. This feeling kinda started when I expressed doubt about being able to succeed in the career I have been working towards because my mental health is shit and idk if I can deal with the pressure involved, and they said that they were glad I reached this conclusion myself because they didn't think I could do it either. Which kinda hurt yk like they were correct and I have switched plans as of now, but I feel they couldve been nicer. Other than that I feel like neither of have done anything wrong I just think this is an aging thing, we're no longer 13 and have changed in similar ways, but I've begun to realise the way we see the world is vastly different. Also we recently keep getting into petty arguments, which is kinda my fault bc im autistic and have very strong opinions and never know when to shut up, but they're also like that we're both just very stubborn and opinionated people. Basically I feel the friendship isn't as strong as it once was and I don't like the idea of having to live with them during uni (also dont really like the idea of living with anyone tbh I fucking hate socialising and want to live alone).
I feel like it's important to mention that although them living with me is cheaper, their family is financially very stable so they could comfortably afford to live in the uni halls or some apartment. Telling them they can't live with me wouldn't be financially that bad, its more so that I said they could and I feel that going back on my word might be quite cruel?
Also recentlyish we've been making plans of living together and buying a house etc and yeah basically a lot of commitments have been made at a young age and I feel quite trapped. Also feels relevant to add that this feeling is definitely not mutual and they have no idea I feel this way, I'm 99% sure they are still very eager to go through with all this. I'm generally quite a communicative person, it's just these are all pretty new feelings and I'm not sure exactly what I feel.
Also sorry another thing that's probably relevant, they're aroace and our relationship idk what it is but I think it kinda goes deeper than the average friendship its kinda like a qpr but not lol.
So yeah wibta if I told them they couldn't live in my house for uni and should find somewhere else?
What are these acronyms?

Let’s talk about Mr. Keng
There’s something I found really odd about the interactions between Non and Keng, besides the whole fucking each other thing. I’m not downplaying the misuse of power and the inherent wrongness of the teacher/student relationship here, but I am used to seeing it over the years in queer media so I wasn’t shocked by it tbh. I don’t know why but there are a lot of queer media over the many years I’ve been watching it that seem to pair an exceptional student with a teacher, or even adults with barely legal teenagers. It’s some weird taboo in queer media and I honestly think it’s because of how common age gap relationships are in the queer community, but we’re not here to dissect that.
So going back to Mr. Keng’s interaction with Non, in episode five, six and seven. It’s clear that he zeros in on Non’s exceptionality, the only student to actually understand his question and Non was barely paying attention. Mr. Keng’s interest was piqued right then and there, and my first thought was that they were going to make him a total creep. Which they seemed to be leaning toward when he put special interest in Non, then in episode six we get Non breaking down and finally admitting to him what was going on and why he needed the money. Mr. Keng offering the money so readily also made it seem again that he was a creep, it was a clear grooming tactic. Making Non feel like he owed him something without Keng even having to say; you owe me.
You could say that Non was a willing participant in their first sexual encounter as he was the one who went in for the more passionate kiss, but again that is what grooming does. And while yes Non is sexually active, he’s 16/17 at the most, sleeping with Phee is completely different. Phee is older by less than a year considering he finished off 12th grade with the other boys after Non ‘disappeared’. Being able to consent to sex with an equal is completely different than ‘consenting’ to having sex with someone who should know that what they’re doing is not right!
Moving onto episode seven, there’s a new level to Keng, he’s working to bring down the illegal gambling ring with an undercover reporter. So he’s just using Non, right? He found out what Non was into and saw it as an opportunity to get names and information, so he’s a groomer and a manipulative liar. Great, send this fucker straight to hell!
What I found interesting though was that by the end of episode seven, we find him comforting Non about the video, Non sobbing in his arms and Keng reassures him that things will be okay. That… doesn’t seem like the reaction of a man who’s just found out that his entire career might be over, that he could very well face jail time. There was no blame, no anger directed at Non, just concern. And then Phee showed up, he attacked Keng, rather violently if the bruises on JJ’s back are anything to go by. Phee kept telling Keng to leave, to fuck off, to just go! He kept shoving him into chairs and walls, but Keng never once left. He stayed there, quietly, not trusting Phee to be alone with Non.
And after Phee broke up with Non, telling him to go die, Non has a full blown breakdown. He’s screaming, sobbing hysterically, hitting himself. What does Keng do? He gets down onto the floor and he grabs Non, stops him from hurting himself, shushes him, holds him, comforts him, rocks the sobbing teen in his arms. None of these things seem to be the action of a person who doesn’t care. Am I saying Mr. Keng is in the right? No! Absolutely not! The dude is a creep, he did terrible things and never should’ve done the things he did. But what I was hit with was that it seemed like Mr. Keng—in his own weird way—actually did genuinely care about Non and his wellbeing.
It was very odd to see, because for the previous two episodes there was a very clear set up of how you’re supposed to see him, how you’re supposed to view his interactions with Non. Then by the end of episode seven, he’s caring and concerned and refuses to leave Non in his moment of need even as Phee demands that he does. I think Keng genuinely liked Non, in his own weird highly illegal way. So it’ll be interesting to see who exactly kills him (my money is on Phee or Jin) and if he repents whatsoever or doubles down on his claim that he actually did like Non, as both a student but a lover.

Regarding the split!Kim AU I'm just gonna put my ramble of thoughts out on here.
1. Okay so what events led to Kim wanting to remove his younger self? What inner turmoil, self depreciating nonsense thoughts did he put himself through?
2. Where did Kim find this magic spell and how did he follow through with it without searching for it's consequences/side effects? Did he go down a black hole on the web and found the most reviewed witch/ spell out there to help him? Idk how to words more on this brainrot
3. How long was it till Kim hid what he did and how did young!Kim reach the compound??
4. What all young!Kim must be thinking and what did he do that everyone in the compound realized something was wrong? (Plus I hope Korn is dead in this, he doesn't deserve to be alive)
5. What was Chays reaction to young!Kim and how he takes care of him and spends time with him? (just being the most loving, and Kim feels so touched and full of unknown feelings because Chay?? the love of his life?? accepts and appreciates and treats young!Kim like he's the most precious in this entire world???)
6. Young!Kim's reaction to finding out about Wik? Is he shocked/ surprised/ wonderstruck? In complete awe of himself of the future?
7. How does Kim behave with young!Kim? Is he hesitant at first? But then he sees the way everyone else treats him and has Feelings™ and then thinks (a lot) and maybe something happens like some new stupidass bodyguard shouting at/ hurting young!Kim and Kim just snapping out on him, completely pissed off and in the worst rage he could ever have, completely protecting young!Kim like who tf you think you are?? How dare you??
Okay I think that's all for now, sorry for the spam of Randomness™😅
(yes i typed this up in my notes first so i don't accidentally lose anything.)
Anon darling I'm kissing you on the forehead, you're hitting so many of my story points with these asks! I feel Seen.
I haven't decided what Kim specifically does/feels that makes him want to do this in the first place. Since I started the fic where it's already happened, I just kinda. Handwaved it. But he does comment on the fact that Chay has been pushing him towards therapy, so that's probably part of it. Kim would rather lose all his memories than talk about his feelings. He's also 2 years into dating Chay (which honestly. That's bc I wanted baby Kim to be 13, and aging Kim up to 23 gave me an easy 10 years to work with. Tbh it would work better if Kim were only a few months into dating Chay and he was willing to do anything to Be A Good Person/Boyfriend/makeup for the breakup. BUT I DIGRESS!) Anyway being with Chay makes Kim want to be/feel better, and this is his nuclear solution. It does not work.
I also don't know how he did it! I... hesitate to write white pagan magic in KP fics. Maybe Kim pulled a Porsche and went to a monk for help dealing with his traumas, and ended up with a modified past life ritual that ended up splitting him right down the middle. The most important side effect is the way Kim feels about his brothers now; Tawan trauma happened when Kim was a little older, so the Kinn his child self remembers is still very loving and happy, he hasn't pulled away yet. But for adult Kim, who's memories start when he was a teenager... there was so much distance between him and his brothers, and then he moved out a couple years later, so he feels like they're practically strangers to him. Like really distant family that you only see at weddings and funerals. Meanwhile kid!Kim is a precocious little smol who's cuddling both of them whenever he can. (Khun loves it, Kinn has no idea what to do with it but he loves it too. Adult Kim is jealous but wouldn't know how to accept affection from them.)
It all happens pretty much the next day/couple days later, as of the current time line! Kim goes to the temple and does his thing. Kid!Kim manifests wherever he was when the memory split happens; so he just. Wakes up somewhere in the middle of Bangkok, and has to find his way back to the compound. Meanwhile KimChay are living in his condo, obliviously going about their lives. It takes a while for Kid!Kim to get home, then he's sneaking all around because things are different and he doesn't understand why (and he keeps stabbing people, but like. stabby the Roomba more than murder); Kinn has to find him/calm him down/get Porsche involved and figure out what's going on before anyone thinks to call Chay (who's been busy having sex with adult Kim lol)
Korn is dead! Bc I'm lazy and didn't want to think about all the terrible things he could do to mess with smol Kim! Like I said, Kim is kind of a feral cat just let loose in the compound, surrounded by people he doesn't know and freaking out a lot, until the guards finally get him cornered in his old room and notify Kinn. Then eventually Chay gets a call from Porsche, and he goes to the compound with adult Kim, and it's a whole Thing.
Chay absolutely adores kid!Kim. He's absolutely feral but he's also a cutie pie, and he gets a crush on Chay quick. Chay loves it; he was such a lovestruck kid with Kim, now it's his turn! (And he teases adult Kim soo much about how he like likes him >,<). Adult Kim is weird with his younger self at first, bc as far as he's concerned, this may as well be a random child. So Chay schlorps him up quick bc the poor kid needs love. And Kim does come to appreciate the way Chay takes care of his younger self (he has some very odd memories about it when they're eventually reunited.)
My goodness, young Kim is so excited. At that age, he had all these dreams about the life he wished he could have, but he never thought it would really happen. But he got away from his father, he gets to chase his dreams of making music, he has a (very cute!!) boy that loves him, that he gets to love in return. It's all his dreams come true. Again, Chay thinks this is adorable, that Kim was such a dreamy little kid. (Kim is also so excited when he finds out that!! Chay lets him write songs about him!! that's so cool!!! And Chay writes him songs too!?!?!)
Like I said, at the start kid Kim may as well be some random child, he's vaguely curious about what happened but has no personal investment (kid Kim might be. a little. heartbroken about that. He's very sensitive.) But overtime Kim warms up to him, learns how to love him and take care of him. It's seeing this as someone else, rather than himself, that allows him to "forgive" himself. It's easy to blame himself for all the bad parts of his life when he's not looking that poor kid in the eyes. And bc I think cuddles are important, and Kim definitely wasn't hugged enough as a child, there's many snugs. There are still Mafia Things going on around all this that Kim has to deal with, so kid Kim spends a lot of time with Chay and his brothers, but there are a lot of times where he's asleep between KimChay. He kind of is like their kid in some ways. It's an odd dynamic for Kim, especially when he gets those memories of being cuddled by himself and Chay?? But ultimately it's a good thing for him. (Except the Porsche memories. He doesn't want those 😤)
These were so much fun, thank you for sending them!! I love talking about this AU <3<3<3

what do you think of yuuta and rika?
Obsessive love turned obsessive cursed spirit. In the JJK film, their relationship while Rika is still alive, is a very close and innocent one, as in the kind that one would expect two shy and introverted kids to have. Like two lonely kids finding solace in each other. But while Yuuta treats the relationship like a child would, Rika seems way more obsessive. I felt like it turned from 'sweetly childlike' to 'obsessive' pretty fast. Rika always looked a little odd to me, the first time when she meets Yuuta, she is alone sitting on a hospital bed with a dreamy faraway look in her eyes, and then she sees Yuuta and smiles as if she has known him forever, her love for Yuuta seemed more adult as compared to Yuuta's love for her, which even though strong, is innocent and childlike, not romantic. To see them playing childish games, which Yuuta takes in good innocent spirit, just like a kid would, Rika seems more resolute and serious, even though she is also a kid, it created an unsettling feeling and it was justified later. And it made one anticipate that this relationship will be the precursor to something drastic. It made more sense when I checked out Gege's interview about the same.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like you can tell Gege didn't intend to write Rika as a 'normal' person. Like a bomb that will potentially explode and will be destructive as hell. Rika was jealous of Maki in the film, given the attention Yuuta gave to her, and the idea of being with Yuuta as one at the end of the film, the idea of symbolically marrying him ends up drawing her to her full power.
However, Yuuta came of age in the film, after he realizes that it was him that cursed Rika unconsciously, and makes a pact with her, his relationship with Rika also evolves. Although I do think that even though it was Okkotsu that cursed Rika, had it been anyone else than Rika, it would probably not have resulted in a curse, and definitely not such a strong curse.
Tumblr media
Anyway, after that, he takes accountability for what he accidentally did to Rika. And now they are a unit, she works more like a subjugated shikigami from ten shadows technique than a wayward cursed spirit. They definitely have a strong bond. But I don't think it is romantic.
However, what is certainly potentially romantic is the relationship between Yuuta and Maki, like it was portrayed in the movie. Yuuta is not a kid anymore, he understands the finer nuances of love, an equal kind of love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maki is no nonsense, revolutionary and resolute type of person with a specific goal, who has had a lot of exposure to toxic, inhuman and entirely misogynistic men like Naoya and the entire Ze'nin family tbh. Yuuta certainly breaks that stereotype. He is not afraid to take the more humble position in the relationship, his humility, modesty and sweet humor kind of 'melts' her defences, makes her softer around the edges. She opens up to him even though initially, she did not have the best impression of him and generally was a little prickly towards him. But it evolves. Their relationship is given credible development in the film.
Finally, it's this cover art that I find symbolic of Yuuta and Rika's relationship.
Tumblr media
Looks like she is lovingly cuddling with a Yuuta doll. Like a little girl. A doll typically symbolises a plaything, it has no power, to be controlled by someone else. Love can be obsessive like that, but when it's one sided, it makes one anxious, raises red flags. Which is why it made sense that she was drawn to her full power only after Yuuta gave himself to her body, heart and mind. It's clear that Yuuta's guilt about cursing Rika played a big part in him bonding himself to Rika. It doesn't seem like an equal sort of love, it more than borders on obsessive and a bit insane. But it is a very strong bond nonetheless. Rika also reaches some kind of resolution at the end of the film about Yuuta, so I think Yuuta can go ahead and find love someplace else.

• after you really got to know her though, she became a very important person to you
• def a good gf, def a protective gf
maka
• she wasn’t convinced that you and her were anything romantically, until she felt a certain way when you hugged her.
• she started getting butterflies whenever you did the smallest things
• like when your hand grazed hers when you walked by her
• or when you praised her after training with her
• once she came to terms with these feelings, she came to terms with the fact that she liked you, and she wanted you to be hers.
• her confession was short and sweet, with the addition of her saying that she thinks that you two are soulmates in it.
• she’s a super sweet gf and will do anything for you, and she expects the same in return.
tsubaki
• tsubaki was naturally a kind hearted person, so you didn’t think much of her actions towards you
• until one night when she confessed her love for you, under the starry night sky.
• she said she feels as if the universe wanted you two to meet, making you guys soulmates.
• it was really sweet
• honestly it was simple for her to confess because she’s true to her feelings, so why would she hide them?
• she’s a good gf, super sweet and gentle with you.

You mentioned how authors are forced to write differently with trad publishing vs indie , which ones do u mean? I'm curious...
"Forced" probably isn't the right word, but "heavily encouraged" [by the companies signing the checks] is closer.
Here's the thing with traditional publishing right now. You walk into a bookstore or Target or whatever--you may very well find some very high heat books. I've seen Sierra Simone in Target. However, all those titles were originally published independently, and Sierra works with a publisher who essentially strikes a deal where they handle print and get the books into those stores, whereas (from what I can tell) she maintains the digital rights.
Traditional publishing offers some releases that are quite high heat, but like... Tessa Bailey's trad books, for example, aren't touching the upper echelons of indie in terms of heat. Because trad is meant to appeal to as broad an audience as possible, and tbh, trad has been swinging safer in a lot of ways.
Ali Hazelwood's books are praised for being high heat--The Love Hypothesis only has one full sex scene, though it's long. If you've read Ali's fanfiction (... which I have) she writes way dirtier than that. She mentioned on a podcast that when they were shopping TLH, she was encouraged by her agent to trim the sex down to make her MS more appealing to publishers. That's the kind of thing I'm talking about.
With historical romance, I think there's a little more tension, because trad is very confused about who they're marketing historicals to. Like, some of them still seem to be pointed towards conservative white ladies imo--women who want a very sort of... straight, missionary, wait until the wedding night type of historical. Whereas I think they should be making more of an appeal to a younger gen. Some of them seem to be basically giving up on that, though. But I digress.
ANYWAY.
Authors I can think of right now--Minerva Spencer writes indie historical romance under the pen name S.M. LaViolette. Some of the LaViolette books are straight up erotic historical romance so obviously they're higher heart than her trad books. But even those that aren't are much higher heat than her traditional books. Like Hyacinth for example--not an erotic historical imo, but it has waaaay more sex scenes, and more creativity (hero coming untouched during a whipping scene, butt stuff which you HARDLY EVER see in trad historicals).
Joanna Shupe has published trad and indie HR. I consider her books on the higher heat end of trad historicals. However, if you read her indie novellas, they are higher heat, they're kinkier--all that. Lol never mind her mafia romances which are a very different game. In indie, Joanna did a BIG age gap romance, a virgin auction romance, a scene where the hero licked up his come and the heroine's ~virgin's blood~ after he deflowers her... you're not gonna see that in trad lol.
Eva Leigh also writes on the higher end of the heat scale in trad, but her indie historicals are different--and it isn't just the explicitness or quantity. As with Joanna, it's the kink, too. The creativity. She wrote MFM, age play, etc. You can just go a lot further.
And I mean? I would also say that you can see a big difference in authors that aren't hybrid. Grace Callaway has tons of sex scenes in her historicals, and they're long and creative and she DOES in fact include butt stuff in the books! Nicola Davidson does really fun poly historicals. When Sierra Simone wrote historicals, there was obviously group sex, kinky stuff, etc.
You just see a really big chasm, bigger than I'd say you see with other subgenres, between trad HR and indie HR. And I can only assume that it's because of an industry pressure. With indie, you can do whatever you want. With trad, there's a standard to conform to because before you sell to readers, you're selling to a publisher.

hey <3 i also love monty the biggest amounts and i think you should share your awesome thoughts about him (and his awesome friendship to gregory) with me and the world okay??
pls pls pls begging-
SORRY IT TOOK ME A SEC TO GET TO THIS BECAUSE IVE BEEN BUSY WITH SCHOOL LATELY (°ロ°) !!!
BUT OMG HAI HAI ⭐️ THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING ME THIS I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MONTY!!!!!!! I HAVE SO MUCH TO SHARE!! JUST A LOT OF HEADCANONS N STUFF ^^
IM STARTING WITH ANGST.. IJUST THINK ABOUT MONTY ANGST SOOOO MUCH
- The quote "im not a violent dog, I don't know why I bite" reminds me of Monty SO MUCH. He is so prone to anger but he hates that side of himself. He can't control it. And being self aware of his anger just makes him feel even worse. He wishes that he could he softer and nicer, he just hates how he is so much. Monty feels stuck and is always longing for a more peaceful existence.
OKAY MOVING PAST THE ANGST!!!
- As a way for him to cope with his anger better, Fazbear Entertainment started to require that he goes to the daycare and hangs out with Sun. Think of it as unofficial "anger management."
- Sun has experience with dealing with emotional kids so it is genuinely good for Monty !!! He gets to participate in arts and crafts and the kids there are excited over him !!!!
- it's funny to think about him looking so oversized when sitting at the arts and crafts tables surrounded by all of the kids
- Initially, Monty REALLY REALLY HATED GOING THERE. AND WAS REALLY MEAN TOWARDS SUN, but Sun still remained nice and friendly because he was eager to befriend Monty nonetheless
- AND THEY DID END UP AS FRIENDS!! In their own time, Sun had opened up to Monty about how he deals with difficult emotions as well. Monty hearing someone else endure something similar to his struggles was eye opening
- Roxy and Monty are so siblings/bffs, they absolutely gossip with eachother and Monty let's Roxy practice makeup on him
- I THINK MONTY AND CHICA WOULD BE SUCH CUTE BFFS.
- Monty's "rivalry" with Freddy is one sided and VERY unserious, Freddy is so friendly with him and Monty gets all grumpy (but he does like Freddy, he just doesn't want to admit it. He's his self proclaimed "enemy")
- HIS TAIL WAGS WHEN HES EXCITED.
- I have a headcanon that depending on the animatronic, they're programmed to work better with a certain age group and Monty is more targeted towards older kids and teens
- Monty loves cute things but he really wants to keep up his cool Rockstar persona SO HE HIDES HIS LIKING TOWARDS CUTE STUFF.... but the rest of the glamrocks can see how obvious it is when kids give him gifts and his tail starts wagging over recieving a Hello Kitty plushie or something
- so he isn't the best at dealing with little kids and gets awkward at times
- BUT YOUNGER KIDS SEEM TO LIKE HIM SO MUCH. he reminds them of a dinosaur AND KIDS LOVE DINOSAURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- even if he's all awkward with the younger kids it's okay, the kids find it funny and he gets more familiar with dealing with them as time goes on
MONTY N GREGORY TIME!!!
- With him and Gregory, both of them would end up being so mischievous at the expense of the other glamrocks,, they would absolutely pull really stupid pranks and test out stupid things
- Monty is like the fun uncle who encourages Gregory's recklessness WHICH IS A NIGHTMARE DUO FOR FREDDY WHO GETS SO CONCERNED ABOUT GREGORYS SAFETY
- but tbh I think Monty and Gregory are less like an uncle and nephew and more like an older brother an younger brother
- like they tease eachother and will argue over dumb things😭
- thinking about Monty and Gregory getting temporarily banned from the daycare because Monty was trying to throw Gregory into the ballpit from as high as possible

After the new short story drop... forget about Ezran and Callum's arguments, HOW IS EZRAN GOING TO REACT TO RUNNAN'S BOW W/RAYLA????????????
I am deeply intrigued by the potential of Callum finding the bow (the literal weapon that spilled their father's body) and subsequently willing to work in tandem with Rayla wielding it in S5 vs Ezran finding the arrow - a symbolic representation of the murder - and well, breaking it under his boot. (Garlaath's merciless boot of crushing, anyone?). It makes me wonder if an old theory I had, of Runaan's remaining binding on his arm providing a tether to Ezran, may come into play with both brothers aiding in freeing the Moon fam, but we'll have to see.
I admit, I had assumed that Ezran's lack of immediate long term proximity to Rayla - thereby not having to interact with Runaan, really, more than he'd want to, in comparison to Callum, who will presumably be his son-in-law someday - would mean that Ezran would have an easier time with Runaan than Callum would... but in some ways, Runaan took more from Ezran than he did from Callum. Runaan took not just Ezran's last remaining parent, but the only parent he'd ever known, and one he was fully comfortable with. He was far younger, so Runaan took his childhood, and saddled him with kingship from age 9 onwards, which... yeah, be pissed as hell, baby boy. (You could argue that Runaan and his patterns / assassin-y encouragements that were passed down to Rayla are also what took her away from the boys, particularly Callum, for two fitful years, but that's a post for another day.)
Ezran is also crueler, I think, or at least more outwardly angry, towards Rayla in 2x08 than Callum is to her in 2x03 each time the secret comes out. Part of this is I think because Callum already had an inkling/basically knew and just didn't want to accept it (and was older) whereas Ezran was blindsided. I've long thought that Ezran would have good reason to be angry at Callum and Rayla, still, for not telling him in S2 (it was understandable, but also fucked up, and could easily lead to a breach in trust there, however subconscious).
I think Ezran will have an easier time understanding Rayla's side - he's friendly with Zubeia, who ordered the hit and who he's gotten to know as a Person ("Zubeia is gentle and kind and funny") - because no matter what Runaan did, he's still her father, and well... Ezran sure as hell misses his Dad, too. Rayla will also, most likely, be against any sort of dark magic risk as well, so they're more aligned there.
Ezran going back to stomp the arrow reminded me a lot of Claudia tricking Rayla in 4x09, which is to say - younger, typically more passive siblings who were forced to be more active in uniquely taking up the heavy burden of their father's powerful mantle, while their older brother got off comparatively scot free? Yeah.
I think Ezran could have a harder time with Callum's involvement because 1) this man took their dad away, and Callum has no personal relationship to Runaan (although I'm sure meeting Ethari, which Ez has not, impacted him) and 2) the anger and fear at Callum being willing to risk himself as well could be a wedge. Even maybe getting at "You're going to risk yourself for Rayla when you nearly died last time" mixed with "You're not going to listen to me when I've been right here the whole time?" because well - she did leave both of them. And if they make plans or discuss the coins and wait to bring Ezran into the loop? It's their joint secret keeping in S2 all over again, and he has every reason to be hurt about that.
But yeah as someone who's wanted Ezran to have Big Messy On Screen Feelings explored in depth for a while, a possible "Ezran feels hopeless/angry" arc, and a Broyals conflict episode/arc (for those sweet Viren-Harrow parallels) I am thrilled. This is everything I could've ever wanted for him tbh

Tell us about Dola!
shsjshs idek where to start with Dola ;w; thank u for giving me an outlet for talking about her LND incarnation omg I hope you know what you’re getting into when you asked this…
so like!! in general she’s my OC that I use everywhere bc I just like her too much to even care about making other OCs because to me she’s like… the ultimate cool doll >.> she tends to retain a lot of her traits each time + I try to keep as much of her original conflicted artist background as possible while still making it make sense with the lore of the universe I’m putting her in
So in LND as MC, she still has Caleb + Josephine, is a Hunter, and ofc has the aether core in her heart but strays from canon in that:
Art has a huge place in her life because her parents were renowned artists and she was primed to follow in their footsteps. She ends up dropping it sometime after she was orphaned though, and only picks it up around high school age and in secret
Gets dreams of fragments of her past lives with Rafayel, but she can never recall the face of the man that’s always in her dreams once she wakes up. Trying to sketch out the man’s face is her main reason for getting into art again, and it snowballs into her making art inspired by her dreams in general
She knows a lot about Lemurian myth and history because she dreams about the place + this one Lemurian so much that she had to look into it, and by extension is fascinated by the sea
Which also means that she did actually attend Rafayel’s lectures at her university when he became a visiting professor there. They kind of only have one proper conversation throughout that entire year though.
Her heart issues affect her more than they affect MC in canon, so the UNICORNS treat her a little differently to work around it. Largely that means she doesn’t go on as many missions as MC seems to? And is often deployed a support/the human radar bc of her Evol rather than a frontline fighter.
Doesn’t feel that strongly about being a Hunter once she actually is one? Tbh I think she kinda hates a majority of the work and commitment that comes with it but feels she can’t just quit after spending so much time working towards becoming one. Xavier and their training sessions together are kind of the main things keeping her there (+ she has fun killing Wanderers)
She’s not as bubbly or cheerful or bratty as the canon MC is. Her personality is a lot more reserved and introverted and she LOVES studying + learning, but there’s still a bit of playfulness there. There’s actually so many parts of the main story, Tender Moments, and Bond/Memoria that I’m changing or outright excluding because they just don’t work out for her the same way they do with canon MC sigh >.>;;
LOVES plants and flowers. In every iteration I have of her she’s at least half covered in floral tattoos and her home is always full of them! Very into flower language to an extent that I’m not ahdjsjs she makes me research a lot of things…
Kind of obsessed with death (mostly because she believes herself to be on a short timer) and is a little fucked up? Will join Rafayel in his quest for vengeance and will believe his murders are all justified if she finds out about them tbh.
^Okay I feel like that’s a lot ahdjshsja >.> in LND I wrote her with Rafayel in mind as the endgame >.> Zayne’s more of a bestie/brother/secret third thing, and Xavier… I guess to her he’s a friend but he definitely is in love with her? And Dola eventually becomes aware of that and isn’t quite sure what to do about it.
Gosh anyway!! Thank you for being interested ahdjshsjs she’s been my baby and muse for like… 3-4 years at this point? I have so many thoughts about her like you wouldn’t believe ;-;
(i have a whole inspo blog for her ahdjshs it’s @dolasach >.>)

Excluding the WIPs and stuff started in 2022:
To Tell the Truth - https://archiveofourown.org/works/46747165
The Bustle in a House - https://archiveofourown.org/works/47126467
From the blood of the wound, a flower sprang - https://archiveofourown.org/works/48305152

Doing The Voices - https://archiveofourown.org/works/47976274
The Morning After Death - https://archiveofourown.org/works/50856436
Running Toward Running Away - https://archiveofourown.org/works/47131885
Number of Words Written
47,530 (only those that are posted; my WIP word count is a very different number lol)
Your Most Popular Fic
To Tell The Truth. That one was a real rising star.
Your Personal Fave
The Bustle in a House, but tbh whatever I've most recently finished is most likely to be my favorite because I'm riding that high of having said what I wanted to say.
You Fav Scene
Don't make me choose!!! Right now I've been thinking about the garden scene and its aftermath from Chapter 3 of The Bustle in a House. I find it difficult to read, and I think that says something about its emotional impact!
A Fic or Scene that Challenged You
Chapter 3 of To Tell the Truth sent me into a creative spiral because I was working to figure out how to make the scene feel as honest and raw as the first two chapters and go really deep and emotionally soft and also get my Barbie dolls to just kiss already! 1000% worth it. That's my other favorite scene.
A Line of Writing You’re Proud Of
From The Morning After Death:
He spends the morning with his youngest siblings (his brother’s children), sharing stories and allowing the memories to crest and break over them in waves. In this family there are so many of them, siblings and stories, that they sometimes tell the same ones, some remembered differently, at different ages, or they confuse each other’s memories for their own and retell those stories, as if all the ways they remember him are true. In a sense, they are true. After all, memory is the only thing they have left.
A Comment that Touched You
Anybody who said my work felt honest, real, and/or special to them, and special shout-out to @andthebubbles for commenting along their journey reading Bustle because it let me know somebody else was out there wanting to read exactly what I wanted to read and to write!
Something that Inspired Your Writing
A fear of grief, Emily Dickinson, watching The Crown, these lines from Richard II that live rent-free in my mind...
For you have but mistook me all this while. / I live with bread like you, feel want, / Taste grief, need friends—subjected thus, / How can you say to me, I am a king?
Your proudest accomplishment (that one scene; finally finishing that one fic; posting your first fic; etc):
It felt really amazing to get properly back into writing in general, and to push the boundaries of emotion I can convey. 2023 was something of a breakthrough year.
Do You Have Any Writing Goals for Next Year?
To actually work on my novel...haha.
As far as fanfiction goes, I really want to finish my Kathony fic that's basically season three for them, which I'd love to put out there before season three comes out. We'll see about that. I'd also like to finish my Bridgerton Phantom of the Opera AU.
In terms of skill development, while I love the precision and brevity of my work, I am trying to slow down more and know when to give scenes space to breathe.
Tagging @andthebubbles, @hyperesthesias, and anyone else who would like to do this!

This fandom had no problems shipping Willow with her lifelong bully Boscha, but the moment Willow is shipped with someone who respects and is clearly interested in her suddenly everyone and their mom are clutching their pearls crying about age gaps and trauma (nothing against bosch//low but all this discourse is really grinding my nerves)
Oh God, don't even get me started on B*schlow, remember those Notps I talked about?🤮 (tbh i could prolly write a pretty long rant post about that ship and my points would have a lot more logic in them than any of the antis in the Huntlow tag, but guess how many posts in the B*schlow tag you'll find written by me)
Tbh I think a lot of people see a gay ship and think that that automatically makes it somehow better and healthier than a m/f ship without even thinking about the dynamics or how the characters fit together. Like no doubt people have been making posts about how Huntlow isn't as good or subversive as B*shlow or H*ntric because it's an m/f ship instead of being gay without taking into account the fact that it's an interracial ship with a fat woc.
But also shipping and the romantic relationships the show makes canon are not about how many boxes you can check off to get diversity points. Huntlow is a ship that was clearly meant to have some more kind of depth and development to it from the little we can see from the show so far, like the parallels of them both being considered "Half-a-witch", the way their character developments basically start and end in the opposite directions, how they both came from a place where people put them down and belittled them for their shortcomings but they've both found people who help them find their greatest potential, the mutual respect and admiration they have for each other, it is clear to me that the writers are trying to speed up a ship timeline that was supposed to be a lot longer than the timeframe they're forced to work within, with the multitude of different ship dynamics they have clearly tried to inject into this couple with what little time they have left. There's a reason why B*schlow was never going to canon, the characters don't fit together the same way, the dynamic is one that was always meant to be one dimensional bully that serves more as a plot device for Willow's character development than the Lumity dynamic the fandom tried to push it towards, not to mention that if the ship was to become canon then Willow would be acting as Bosha's teacher and redeemer which she basically already had to do with Amity, but with Huntlow they're both meant to be fully fleshed out main characters that come together in a dynamic that strengthens their characters in a mutually beneficial way that serves both of them individually as well as a couple, they meet each other near the end of their original character developments meaning they meet at the right time to walk together towards their next character developments, because the two of them went through entire arcs individually learning to stand on their own, the next obvious step for their characters is them learning how to be their new selves while with another person
Tbh I just really don't get what the issue with Huntlow is here, like why is this the ship that broke the fandom? I mean, the obvious reasons are there, of course, the racism, the fatphobia, the general uproar that comes when the fandoms favorite white boy falls for a woc instead of the other pretty white boy or girl they wanted him to fall for, but like God I was not expecting to have to fight this hard for this ship when we've only got 3 more episodes left before this show ends for good. Like are there not more pressing things we could worry about other than a very cute, very nice, very healthy ship between two traumatized kids who have never been seen as anything worth looking at twice until the other person saw them

could you go into your writing process a bit? i’ve been a fan of your fics for years now, and i still find myself in awe of how you’re able to create these cohesive worlds and voices and dynamics and just how tight your writing is. like i never feel like anything should be cut and even if all the loose ends aren’t tied up, i feel like it ends right where it should. like i’m so curious to see how your brain turns out so much magic!!
Oh my gosh, this is so nice of you to say 😭 Thank you first of all!  Secondly, I'll try to map out my process for big wips below the cut! Hope it makes sense 🤭 But this ask literally put a smile on my face all day, so thanks again.
So to start off, I usually have a good idea of exactly how the story should end. That helps big time with everything else. If I don't know kind of what happens in the middle and exactly how it should end, I really struggle.
Then I have a separate doc where I write down all my notes or thoughts about the stories, and also do the outlines. The story ideas come either extremely randomly, like me falling down a rabbit hole of presidential assassinations on YouTube (y'all know what this resulted in) or they're a result of my friend and i spiraling about something in the DMs (lighthouse, boxing fic, soulmate fics, most of the horny ones too 😂)
I also like to gather some pics just to get an idea of what the characters look like in whatever universe I'm writing about, as well as the scenery and buildings/layout. So for example, i used these inspo pics for The First Gentleman:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So every time I open the doc to write I'd have these, the outline, and the notes open. Other visuals like the banner or graphics I make also help put me in the right mindset for the story.
So, before I start writing, I draft an outline. I try to keep it brief tbh, the longer and more involved the outline the more intimidating the story feels which means less chance of me actually writing it 😅 (there are about 3 outlines that will probably never see the light of day!) but brief doesn't always work so what i do, especially for long wips, is make a short bullet list for what needs to happen in each chapter.
This way i can accommodate plot bunnies, shift stuff around and kill the darlings before i get too attached, i usually also have a few key scenes in my head and i then fit them in here. Outlines also include stuff like a quick character write up like age, quirks, bad habits, cute habits or sayings they have (in Ain't No Grave they had this cute back and forth "keep up now" or in Ruins Bucky called everyone meatballs.)
This is roughly what a chapter outline looks like for me:
Tumblr media
lmaooo. as you can see it's very informal. basically a scribble.
Usually when I'm super inspired, i can get going straight away, otherwise I let it turn over in my head a little bit until i come up with a good starting point. What also helps me cement the character voices and specific characteristics is re-watching whatever source media it relates to. So for me it's always Cap 2 & 3 and TFATWS, Endgame where Sam gets the shield, and Sam’s scene in AoU and Antman.
I prefer to write in order from start to finish. I find I lose interest too quickly if I don't. Having a point to work toward is easier for me. BUT at the bottom of the notes/outline doc I also have a section for scenes that I absolutely can't get out of my head and need to write down right the fuck now. For example Monica’s induction in TFG was written waaay before anything else, so was the sambucky reunion in that fic. But, because I placed it at the bottom of a separate doc, the fic was still technically written in order 😌 makes perfect sense, I know lol.
Then whenever I finish a bullet point in the outline, I color it off the list. This process helps me keep track of what has been done and what still needs to happen. Seeing how much I've completed also really helps to keep me motivated, plus the colors are fun! Helps with sticking to what i had planned too, i find if i don't follow outlines, the scenes and characterization kind of jump all over the place. Mostly i only have some time on weekends to write so knowing exactly what i need to write and how i need to write it beforehand is key to me. Having the outline done before I start means I have a week to play those scenes out in my head or play with the dialogue until it sounds right.
If I get stuck, I read either a book or my favorite fics, do some art, or just leave it be until inspo strikes again.
And I think that’s about it. Don’t know if this is what you were looking for but there you have it 😂
💕
I’m always happy to get asks about my fics and writing, so don’t be shy!

Searching For Inspiration (6)
Masterlist
A/N:  Sorry it’s taken awhile. Less interaction now + work just has me less motivated to post these days tbh.
Pairings/Characters:  Eddie Munson x Reader
Warnings: none really, just some kissing and allusions to an eddie-rection (haha get it, like errection, but eddie’s, sorry),  HONESTLY it’s mostly just fluffy shit
Summary: Curious about one of Eddie’s greatest passions, you find yourself wandering into Hellfire Club to finally experience the magic.
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson never expected this day to come. It was somehow both his biggest fantasy and his worst nightmare.
Eddie was busy setting up for Hellfire after school. He had acquired the back of the stage where the drama club left all their props and costumes around. There sat his table and throne, which he would rest upon as he orchestrated his masterpiece. Everything was going smoothly. This session was going to be absolutely fantastic and chaotic in the best way. On top of that, your dad sent you with food that day for him at lunch, so he was already floating on air for the day.
Eddie was pretty sure your dad was now just making sure he was constantly fed, but he had absolutely no complaints on that. To be honest, it was kind of a relief. Also, tostones? Amazing, they were changing his life.
However, Eddie was stunned when you walked in with your cute, timid, slow walk of yours after school as you drummed your fingertips on the strap of your bag. He stood up from leaning over the table, and he didn’t know what to do with his hands. They went to his pockets, then out, then he crossed his arms over his chest before leaving one there and waving the other around, “What, um, what brings you here, dear princess of mine?”
You shook your head at his nickname for you as you stepped closer, “Well, um.  I started another book. Lord of the —“
“If you finish that with ‘Rings,’ I’m going to be so upset you never read it before.
You pouted, “Hey! There’s so many books and I only have so many eyes!” You sighed. “Anyway, I was reading the book, and…”
“And what?” Eddie pried. “You’re in love with it?”
You rolled your eyes, “I’ve noticed some…reoccurring themes between what you say about your campaign and what I’ve been reading in the book, and then I thought about you in the library…” He watched you as you trailed off while rounding the table to join him. “You’re a book nerd.”
Eddie blinked, “Well, yeah. Duh. The freak reads a lot.”
“Didn’t expect that. I thought you were just disrespecting books.”
Eddie stared for a moment before smirking and walking towards you. His hands came to rest on your hips as he studied you, “You judged a book by its cover and judged wrong, didn’t you?”
“What? No. Shut up.”
“You didn’t think I even knew how to read, huh?” Eddie asked, “you thought I was just some dumb freak ruining a library.”
“No! I obviously knew you knew how to read, you were just so disrespectful to the books for no reason whatsoever! In public! Which made me think you must have felt some way about books and it wasn’t positive!” You began to yell all over again about Eddie’s behavior in the library while he stared at you with a smile on his face the entire time you were ranting. When you finally came to your conclusion, he was still smiling while you huffed, “Anyway, what I wanted to say was I see where you get your inspiration from, and I was wondering if I could sit in on your session and watch.”
Eddie’s hand flew to his chest, “You want to watch me DM? That’s so intimate, so personal. I feel like we’re getting naked for the first time.”
Cheeks burning, you swatted his chest while he continued to grin mischievously. You rolled your eyes at him and rested your hands on his shoulders as his hands returned to their rightful place on your hips and he pulled you to lean against him while he leaned on the table. Eddie beamed at you, his head twisting and turning so his eyes could catch yours while you were trying to look away from him in embarrassment.
Eddie giggled quietly and pressed his lips against your cheek. The vibrations while he spoke caused you to laugh, “Don’t worry, I don’t DM when I’m naked.”
“Good. I’d hate to hear you were scaring these poor babies with your nudity.”
“Scary with my nudity? Please, I am a pale, gangly mess of limbs that they’d be so lucky to see.”
You hummed as you brought your elbows up to rest on his shoulders, your hands clasped under your chin as you stared at him, “I’m sure.”
“You can always find out, if you’d like.”
“Ah, Eddie, it’ll take more than that to get me out of my pants.”
You swore his eyes twinkled, “So you’re saying there’s a chance?”
Now, would Eddie know what to do if he had the chance? Not necessarily. His experience with women was….rather minimal, given how the entire town perceived him. I mean, there was this one girl from out of town that came to see their band play. However, they were both so high and drunk, Eddie couldn’t get it up, she wasn’t in the mood, and they never went past making out and feeling each other up.
Was Eddie a virgin?
To his friends? Absolutely not, he was a self-proclaimed sex god.
In reality? Well, he had some very, very sticky magazines stuck under his mattress that he treated like they were scriptures. The man couldn’t tell you if he researched music, sex, or fantasy more, that’s how much he relied on literature, magazines, and videos to give him all he needed to know.
“If I deem you worthy, sure,” you replied, working so, so hard to keep yourself calm and cool as your mind started to drift off to thinking about Eddie in a far more intimate way. “Um, so,” you cleared your throat and straightened up, ignoring how he seemed to get a little hot and turn red himself. “So, what’s left to set up?”
“I’ve just gotta finish putting some of these figures in place, and we’re good to go. All we have to do is pass the time until the little sheepies get here,” he explained.
“Well,” you pulled away and patted his chest. “Best get to work then, shouldn’t you?”
He chuckled as he pushed himself off the table and wagged his finger at you, “Try not to be hypnotized by my fabulous butt, Y/N.”
You rolled your eyes and sat down in his throne, “Sure, Eddie.”
He looked at you as he set up the figures and cooed, “Now, now, now, Queenship looks good on you, my lady.”
You snorted, “You’re too much, Munson.”
“For you, my lady, that’s simply never enough, but I’ll always try to be.”
The way Eddie winked at you had your cheeks growing hotter by the second. You swore you were sweating under his gaze before he returned back to work. Eddie Munson was such a charmer. His way with words was unmatched, and the way this man made you feel was unlike anyone else had in Hawkins your entire time being there.
Not to say that Eddie wasn’t enthralled about you either. You were passionate, easily angered, and so, so freaking smart. He was smitten. Honestly, Eddie looked at you and basically knew what couple you two were now going to be: Gomez and Morticia. Yes, Eddie Munson wanted nothing more than to be your Gomez.
When he was done setting up, you stood up from his throne and went to grab another seat. Eddie sat down, but grabbed your hand and pulled you on top of him. While you were laughing, he supported your back with one hand while the other delicately grabbed your wrist. He outstretched your hand and began to kiss up the length of your arm, starting with your open palm.
“E-Eddie, you’re nuts,” you breathed as you watched him.
He hummed, “Nuts for you? Totally, babe.”
Eddie’s kisses went all the way up to your shoulder. He couldn’t reach anymore, so he gently coaxed you to lean forward with a tap on your back. You leaned down to meet his lips in a tender kiss that made your heart flutter. Eddie hummed happily, merrily as he pressed his lips against yours, hands holding you close like he was afraid of losing you if he let go.
You two were so lost in each other that you didn’t hear the door open. However, after a few seconds, you certainly heard the sound of gagging noises. You and Eddie pulled away from each other. You were more embarrassed while Eddie was annoyed.
“Just for that, Wheeler, your first three rolls of the night are at disadvantage,” Eddie growled as Mike made his way to the table with his stuff.
“Hey! That’s not fair! Just because you two were sucking face doesn’t mean I have to suffer.”
“He’s just joking, Mike,” Dustin said as he pulled out his seat. “I told you not to interrupt like that! Hi, Y/N.”
You smiled softly, “Hey, Dustin.”
You moved to get off of Eddie’s lap. As you moved, he quickly grabbed your leather jacket and left it on top of his lap as you climbed off of him. When you realized what he might be hiding, you held your own satisfactory smirk as you went and took a seat next to Dustin.
“Wait,” Mike stared as the rest of the club filed in. “Are you playing? Seriously?”
Eddie leaned over and swatted the back of Mike’s head while you shook your head. “No, Mike, I’m just observing. I want to see how you guys play and what the story’s like in action.”
“Cool! I’ll show you everything you need to know,” Dustin said as he slid his papers over to you and jumped into a very animated recap, like you hadn’t heard about their campaign before.
While Dustin was explaining this to you, you glanced up to meet Eddie’s gaze. He had been talking to Gareth and Jeff, but he turned his head ever so slightly, his eyes darting over to meet yours. He smiled brightly and winked at you from across the table. You smiled right back, chewing your bottom lip before returning your attention back to Dustin’s retelling.
The rest of the night was a blast. You got to see Eddie in his element and watched as he thrived. The man was a storyteller through and through. The amount of creativity, the voices, the acting, how he knew the rules like the back of his hand, it was so impressive for you to see of Eddie. It served to remind you how everyone, even you, at times, looked at him in a less-than-flattering light because you simply didn’t know him well enough.
But this Eddie? This animated wordsmith building out his own world and instilling teamwork and creativity? It was charming, and sweet, and your attention bled away from the campaign as all you could do was gaze at him and admire every inch of him.
After the session was over for the night, everyone helped to clean up and put everything away. You all left the building together, everyone going their separate ways. The air was cold and it was starting to drizzle, which had Mike and Dustin sucking their teeth since they had to ride their bikes in the coming rain. Eddie was going to take you back home and join you for dinner, but heard their frustrations from a few feet away.
“Do you mind if we — “
You shook your head, “It’s completely okay with me.”
He smiled and kissed your cheek. He muttered for you to go ahead and get inside before the rain really came down. As you jogged over to his van, you could hear Eddie shouting for those two to throw their bikes in the back and that he’d take them home.
You listened with content as they talked about the campaign more, Eddie giving them tips on their attacks and how to make the most of them, the boys theorizing on what was to come. Before you knew it, they were both dropped off at home, and you and Eddie were walking up to your front door.
“Do they —“
“They invited you,” you explained. “And they’re very excited. Dad made pollo guisado. He’s looking forward to your comments about it.”
He exhaled and nodded, “Okay. Awesome. Because, you know, they don’t have to keep feeding me —“
“I’m pretty sure stuffing you with food is their new favorite hobby, because you’ve never had any of this, and they just love getting people to try it. Everyone here, well, doesn’t really want to try it. I mean, they wouldn’t even eat his vanilla cupcakes one year for a bake sale because he topped with a cheese frosting and guava — “
“I don’t know what that is, but I want it badly,” Eddie said.
You laughed, “Okay. I’ll let you know when he makes them.”
“Fantastic —“
“And, Eddie?” You got his attention as he reached for the doorknob. “That was so awesome tonight.”
He was beaming, “You’re welcome any time you’d like, babe.”

As seen on my FF.net
Following the events of fifth year, a new adventure awaits for Norah Lee. Boys, exams, school events, common room parties, and old foes outside of Hogwarts. Even battling pensieve guardians was easier than this.
Main Pair: OC/? Genre: Adventure/Angst/Fluff (it's a little of everything, tbh)
KEEP IN MIND: Characters are aged up (even if the story's got them in sixth year) to make it more appropriate. Time period is leaning towards the modern day so in case you might find anachronisms in the dialogue or references, this is why. This may also be quite a lengthy fic too.
BE WARNED: Social anxiety, mentions of blood and injury, grief, drinking, kissing but nothing more than that, death (this is Hogwarts Legacy, after all)
P.P.S: Terrible attempt at poetry ahead. Leave your guesses as to who may "Nick" be. HEHEHE
Masterlist
Chapter 6
A large enchanted board appeared at the grounds. Professor Ronen was grinning proudly as crowds of sixth-years were gathering around. The board had each of the names of the sixth years of every house. "For the next assignment, sixth years, all of you are supposed to learn how to cast non-verbal spells this year," He declared. "Which brings us to this little game."
"Are we supposed to summon our names from these boards?" Charlotte asked.
"Not quite," The grin on his face grew wider. "Now, I am aware that this year is when we are having the Yule Ball. Fortunately, we've got an even number of boys and girls. With that in mind, I want you to summon, non-verbally, your name and the name of the person you would like to get to know better. Asking them to the ball isn't necessary, but at least you will make a new friend!"
Norah felt a strong pang of anxiety as everyone started whispering to themselves. Some of them were even giggling, in the hopes of being able to summon the name of the person they wanted.
"I don't know how to feel about that," Natty looked just as anxious.
Poppy, however, looked a little more confident. "I wonder who's going to summon mine. I already know who I'm going to call," She said, a shy smile playing across her features at the thought. "Don't you have anyone in mind, you're the best in Charms, Natty."
"But to practically walk up to summon the name of the person you might like, people will know," Natty said.
"That's part of the fun, isn't it?" Poppy smiled, looking back at the board. "It's going to be fun!"
Amit looked amazed. "I never took Poppy Sweeting to be such a romantic."
"You just have to get to know me better, Amit," The Hufflepuff pointed out.
"This is a side of Poppy Sweeting that we rarely get to see," Natty teased. "If she's not hanging about the beasts in the pens, she's probably going to be summoning a name soon."
"What happens if your name has already been summoned?" one Ravenclaw raised their hand.
"Good question," Professor Ronen had a skip in his step as he waved his wand over the board. "If your name was summoned before you had a chance to do so, then you will have another assignment. You will non-verbally summon the note behind your names on the other side of this board, which will give you a clue as to who your summoner may be. You will have until the end of the week to do so. And by the end of the week, you can finally meet them."
Just in time for the Gryffindor house party, they all thought. Norah sighed, looking up at the green board with her name written in silver. She wondered who might be the one who could summon her name, and maybe it would be who she was hoping for.
Once Professor Ronen stood aside, the crowd of Gryffindors stepped forward to try their hand in summoning the names. "Remember! Concentration is key!" He said, observing them.
"Thought of summoning Weasley's name yet?" Sebastian teased. He hadn't let Norah's Hogsmeade run-in with Garreth go, something she was beginning to suspect was out of jealousy. He hoped that she wouldn't but he knew his way of convincing her out of it wasn't working. There wasn't any other way he knew how to say it, without him fully confessing his feelings for her.
Norah rolled her eyes. "Have you?" She teased back, making Ominis laugh. "If you've been wondering so much, maybe you should probably summon his name."
Sebastian frowned, which Ominis sensed, making him laugh harder. "I believe Norah has a point," He said, wiping the tears from his eyes as they started to make their way back to the Defense Against the Dark Arts tower. "But I think our little skirmish with the ashwinders in Keenbridge seems to have tested us with non-verbal casting. I think we'd pass Ronen's homework."
"That's...oddly optimistic," Norah pointed out while they climbed up the stairs. "I'm still quite rusty with certain spells...That's strange, isn't it?"
"It is, but you're getting there, it seems," Sebastian assured her. "I'll probably have a go at that board tonight."
"Good luck," She said.
She parted with them at the staircase, moving ahead to the floor of the tower with a familiar, or rather, unfamiliar classroom. Unfamiliar in a sense that she hadn't personally taken these classes on magical theory, but familiar in that she knew who taught them. It was an empty classroom at this time and understandably so. Professor Black hadn't looked for a replacement for Professor Fig yet.
Norah climbed up the little staircase that led to his office, seeing his things still intact, as if he was just away. She immediately spotted the magical book she acquired from the restricted section, with the missing pages she retrieved from Richard Jackdaw's tomb. Fig kept the book even after their introductions were made with the four keepers to further study it.
Perhaps she could take it upon herself to learn more about the work that was done to get to this point, for her to have all the magic Isidora Morganach took disguised as pain that eventually turned into power. She took out her wand, staring at the book on the shelf next to where a demiguise statue was previously planted. Accio book, she thought, mentally repeating the spell to summon it.
To her surprise, the book flew out from the shelf and into her free hand. Ominis and Sebastian were right, she thought. She had gotten better at non-verbal casting.
Her thoughts went back to the board Professor Ronen had arranged as homework and a lesson. It was better than Summoner's Court in a way, but it was still just as embarrassing, especially for those who wouldn't want their affections for certain people known just yet. Norah left the office and the classroom, wanting to get a headstart on reading the book along with her notes on NEWT-level Defense Against the Dark Arts.
It was already making her think. If someone summoned her name from that board, would they think of asking her to the Yule Ball? Perhaps.
Norah soon snapped out of her thoughts when she felt a hand on her forehead and her shoes hitting what she realized was the wooden pillar. She was about to walk into the pillar. Norah looked over to see who kept her from bumping her head. It was Leander.
"Careful now. We wouldn't want the reigning champion of Summoner's Court and Crossed Wands to get hurt, wouldn't we?" He said, his hand returning to his side. "...Were you coming from Fig's office?"
"Thanks, I got distracted that I nearly walked into this," Norah chuckled. "Uh, yeah. Just got a book I needed for this Defense Against the Dark Arts essay. Have you tried summoning a name from the board yet?" She grinned.
The question seemed to make the redheaded male blush. "I actually haven't. H-have you had a go?"
She shook her head. "Not yet. I probably will later."
"Are you coming to the party this weekend?" He asked. "It's going to be fun. I always like to say you haven't had fun until you come to a Gryffindor house party."
Norah chuckled. "You don't need to convince me. I was already under the impression that Gryffindors are always up for some fun."
A small smile formed on his lips. "Right, we are always up for some fun."
"So, where were you going?" She was curious.
"Oh, uh, I was actually going to go to the bathroom. I've been doing my Potions essay near the Charms classroom," He gestured to the ceiling.
Norah sighed. "Merlin, I almost forgot about that essay. With everything Garlick and Hecat are giving us. It's going to take some felix felicis to get good marks. Or a memory potion at least."
"You and me both," Leander agreed. "Well," He cleared his throat. "If-if you want you, we can do our essays together. I'll just go in the bathroom first."
Did she want to be alone at this time? She knew Sebastian and Ominis were likely in the library with their own essays to do. Natty had other classes to attend, as did Poppy and Amit. She remembered what Natty told her about Leander, still convinced that they were probably just arguing as they usually would. "I guess that would be nice. I've got my potions book with me, we can work on that together."
"Brilliant. I'll be back," Leander tried to stifle his surprise, as if he was expecting that she would be busy. He shuffled towards the boys bathroom as Norah stood near the pillar to wait.
She opened her bag, looking inside and at the book. It had everything else she needed to know about what they discovered in fifth year. Including the ancient magic and what it took to build that repository she was still set on rebuilding. Leander soon returned, and they walked together to the study area near the Charms classroom.
"My second-favorite hero! Norah Lee," Sophronia Franklin, the fourth-year Ravenclaw waved at her as she sat down on the table across from Leander. "Herodiana Byrne has more depulso rooms, have you tried those out?" She asked, approaching them.
"Depulso rooms?" Leander was confused. "What are those?"
"Herodiana Byrne, the greatest depulso master, built a few rooms where she practiced the spell through puzzles. She's also hidden pieces of her wardrobe which Norah found in the room at the base of the Defense Against the Dark Arts tower," Sophronia said proudly. "There are two more, one near Professor Binns' classroom and one in a hall close to the long gallery leading up to the bell tower."
Norah hummed as she set down her rolls of parchment, her quill, and ink bottle. "I haven't gotten around to trying those out. I imagine those would be more difficult than the one I went to."
"Does she have more pieces of her outfit in those rooms?" Leander was still confused. "She must have a lot more to that outfit then."
"Give it a go, if you can," Sophronia grinned. "I'd love to see what else she left behind!"
As she walked off, Norah and Leander exchanged looks, chuckles escaping their lips as they began their study session. As the two of them have found, explaining certain kinds of elixirs and antidotes to certain poisons were incredibly tedious. Having to explain the fundamentals of Golpalott's Third Law seemed to be the only thing they found easy to write in their essays.
Norah had nearly finished her third roll of parchment and Leander was nearly done with a fourth roll of parchment when they realized how long they had been studying. "Godric's balls, have we been here so long?" She laughed, her fingers a little dirtied with ink, glancing over at the redhead.
"Merlin, we've been here the whole day, they've started dinner by now," Leander looked around to find out the time. "Sharp wasn't kidding when he said this assignment was going to take a lot of time, Merlin's beard."
Norah chuckled. "But on the bright side, we're on our way to finishing this very long essay. It was nice having to study without getting distracted or sidetracked."
"Distracted? I'm not surprised. You're friends with Sallow, it's surprising he's tried to stay out of detention as much as possible these days," Leander teased.
"Yeah, and Ominis is often studying in the dormitory if he's not trying to keep Sebastian from getting into trouble. And, you can imagine the rest of them," Norah started to clear out her things and he did the same. "
The redhead couldn't help but chuckle. "And then I almost thought you were going to say something like you helping out someone from some hamlet."
"Not this time. I think I'd get in detention often if I tried to do what I did in fifth year," Norah laughed as they stood up. "Well, shall we go to the Great Hall for dinner?"
"I-I was going to ask you the same thing," Leander sputtered, a little flustered with the question, or rather the situation he was in. "It-it was nice studying with you."
"You too."
-
Norah and Leander arrived in the Great Hall, already seeing some already succeeding in summoning the names of who they wanted. It made her wonder if the others had already tried out summoning their names on the boards. She mentally prepared herself for the possibility of not being chosen before she had a go. She remembered having to do something similar to this in the muggle school she attended before she received her Hogwarts letter. It was often done during Valentines' Day, and on March 14, which muggles called White Day.
The two of them walked off to their respective house tables. Norah immediately spotting Ominis and Sebastian, the latter already devouring his plate of food. "Norah," Ominis called as she sat down across from them.
"Where have you been?" Sebastian mumbled, taking a long drink of pumpkin juice as he watched her pile some food on a plate.
"I was finishing my Potions essay with Leander at the Astronomy wing. Did you have any luck with the board?" She replied.
"Merlin, I couldn't get my name to move even if I tried," Sebastian scoffed. "But Poppy and Natty had their names summoned already. Amit just found out his name was already taken too."
"What about you, Ominis?" Norah glanced at him in between bites of bread.
"I'm having just as much trouble too," The blonde replied with a frown. "I know Ronen's using this to test us on casting non-verbally, but couldn't there have been something else other than that?"
She understood what they meant. "If it makes the two of you feel better, I haven't had a go at the board yet," She said.
Sebastian and Ominis exchanged looks of confusion. "You haven't?" Sebastian raised a brow. Norah shook her head. "Then it seems someone has summoned the hero of Hogwarts already. When I went to the board, your name was already taken down."
Norah stared at them. It was mostly the reason why the two boys admitted to having had no luck at the board. Not that they knew what their personal reasons were. "This had better not be a prank, both of you," She warned, her heart already pounding in anticipation.
"Merlin's beard, it's what many people have been talking about. Someone was able to summon your name from the board," The freckly brunette put his knife and fork down. "I'm guessing no one else saw who did it, only that your name wasn't on the board anymore."
"I reckon they must be taking bets as to who summoned you by now," Ominis added.
"In that case, it's time for me to solve a puzzle," Norah seemed convinced at Sebastian's explanation. "Non-verbally, that is."
She could only hope they were nice or weren't looking for trouble or anything. If her name had been taken down, she hoped it was done by the very person she was beginning to have feelings for. Norah was about to tuck into a strawberry tart when her owl suddenly flew in and dropped a letter in front of her.
Norah took the envelope, carefully opening the flap and to her surprise, tiny pink confetti hearts scattered, some of which were going onto her plate. She stared at the mess in front of her, with Sebastian trying his hardest not to laugh. Ominis didn't look as amused, sweeping away any that went on his plate. This had better be part of Ronen's lesson, she thought, as she opened the card, seeing the words written in very fancy cursive.
Nothing would thrill me more Than to have a meal with you In the Forbidden Forest under the moonlight. But the Yule Ball will do for now.
She looked up at Sebastian and Ominis, who were wondering what was in the card. "So? What was that?" The freckled boy questioned.
Norah put the letter away, tucking it into her bag. "I'm guessing it was from the person who summoned my name on the board," She said. "They're very poetic. And coincidentally, I know what place they're talking about."
"Do tell," Ominis suddenly said. "Are you going to meet them there?"
She hummed, finishing her goblet of pumpkin juice. "Tonight? Before curfew. I'll time it when a house team's busy practicing at the pitch. I'll know to go back when they go back."
"Good luck," Sebastian frowned.
-
Norah approached the board of names that night, surprised that most of the names were already taken down. Even Sebastian's and Ominis' names were down, leaving a few others left. They were probably summoned while they were having dinner, she thought, already noticing the blank spaces where Poppy's, Natty's, and Amit's names were.
She sighed and went to the back of the board, seeing the note of green and silver that had her name written on it rather hastily. It could've been anyone at this point, and she chose to let herself remain wondering who could've asked for her.
Taking a few steps back, she pointed her wand at the note and non-verbally summoned it. To her surprise, the spot that had her name on it changed to a number 10, which she figured meant house points. Norah pocketed the note, wanting to read it when she walked down the path out of the grounds and on the way to the forest.
Ironically, it was none other than the Slytherin house team practicing, and Norah could hear Imelda shouting commands at each of her teammates. "Sharp turns! Sharp turns! Focus!" She yelled, her voice echoing.
Norah picked up her steps, walking a little faster toward the familiar pillars and then to the bridge. Immediately casting the charm, she saw the floating candles once again. Whoever sent her the note was likely very familiar with this little trick, she thought. Norah followed the candles into the forest, walking past the ominous spots where she knew dugbogs and spiders used to inhabit.
As she finally reached the spot where the floating candles seemed to multiply, revealing the small table and chairs that were perfect for a date, she looked around before opening the note.
To Norah Lee,
What has one eye but cannot see? Solve this riddle to find me, Your name reminds me of a woman I knew, The wife of a famous sleuth. If you should ever know the answer, Whisper it into a close friend's ear, You will know if you are right, Wait for my note tomorrow night.
Your Nick
"Again, very poetic," Norah said, smiling to herself as she read the note one more time. "He's not giving me much time to figure it out too."
"Norah? Is that you?" Ominis suddenly appeared, his wand almost pointing at her.
Norah immediately got up, her heart pounding from surprise. "Merlin's bollocks, you scared me," She laughed. "What brings you here?"
"I was collecting lacewing flies nearby when I heard your footsteps, your voice," He replied. "What are you doing in the forbidden forest alone?"
Norah was quick to give him an assuring pat. "I was following the note I received earlier. I took the note from the board too, and I read it here."
Ominis stepped forward, sensing the environment through his wand. "Awfully romantic, isn't it? He certainly plans to ask you to the ball," He said. "I reckon any beasts lurking in this forest would be terrified of you than you are of them."
Norah nodded, realizing that there was also a note left on the table that had her name on it. She took it and pocketed the letter, figuring that it might be best for her to read it back in the dormitory. "We should probably head back before any of the prefects catch us, shouldn't we?" She suggested. "Ah! But first, do you want to hear something fun?"
Ominis sensed that she was grinning. "We're not heading into that Richard Jackdaw's tomb you told me about, are we?" Concern evident in his tone.
Norah chuckled, taking his free wrist to lead him toward the rocks nearby that was overlooking the nearest spider lair. "Let's just say, we're doing what the muggles call, pest control," She said, opening her bag and slipping on some dragonhide gloves. Norah reached inside, and took out a venomous tentacula, throwing it into the very middle of the lair, where it sprung up and grew.
The plant caught one particularly large spider off-guard, shooting its venom toward the arachnids from every direction. Norah threw a few of the chomping cabbages down to get the spider eggs that were poised to hatch. Ominis wasn't sure whether he liked the sounds of dying spiders or not. But hearing the little laughs coming from Norah seemed to take his mind off of what they were doing. "A needle," She suddenly said.
"What?"
"A needle. The answer to the riddle someone named Nick left for me," She said.
"Nick?" Ominis raised a brow.
"Yeah, but I do wonder how Nick knew about that. It's the work of an American muggle author, about a detective named Nick Charles, and his wife was named Norah," She replied.
"He must have tried to find out what you like quite extensively," The blonde deduced. "...Do you like that author's work?"
Norah smiled, leading him back down from the rocks and back to the entrance. "I do. There weren't many stories of them, but I do loved the mystery solving."
The two of them made their way back to the road leading back to the grounds of Hogwarts. Imelda was still shouting orders at her teammates, while she zigzagged the spires of the pitch. The silence between them as they walked was a comfortable one, something both of them appreciated and marked how good their friendship was.
"You know, you still need to tell me about why you've been unlike yourself before we went to Keenbridge," Ominis tilted his head toward her as they walked past the board and back into the bell tower.
"Oh, right," Norah knew what he meant. "I guess I should tell you that in the Undercroft, then. It's a good thing we're both Slytherins because one of us is going to have to do quite a bit of running back if we weren't."
Ominis shook his head. "You don't have to tell me right now, but I thought you ought to know that it's always a suggestion," He said, his voice calm.
Norah observed his expression, then nodded. "I probably should if it helps me be a better friend," She suddenly remembered what Professor Weasley told her before she left her office.
"How dramatic," Ominis teased, making her nudge him. "But you are already a good friend. I won't push you if you're not comfortable with it, I assure you. If you're ever ready, just know I'm here to listen."
"Thank you, Ominis," She said. "One day, I'll tell you, and Sebastian, and Natty, and Poppy, and Amit," She laughed as they arrived at the path to the Slytherin dungeons.
"And then I thought I was special," Ominis feigned disappointment, chuckling as they entered the common room.
