"I think I like you, and it freaks me out because I don't know what to do or say."
Roxxane inhales.
"I think I like you, and it freaks me out because I don't know what to do or say."
her makeup did nothing to cover how red her face was. She hated how she fumbled on her words. Her usual calm down to business demeanour was nowhere in sight.
It wasn't like Roxxanne hadn't dated before. She's dated plenty of men before. Well usually THEY were the ones to ask her out. Not the other way around.
Perhaps this why she felt so...unplanned out.
Alex stared at her, clearly surprised but her sudden outburst. The irony since he had came to ask her out. Albeit nervous. he wasn't sure if he stood a chance after hearing about how many men shes turned down.
he chuckled. "Funny you said that..."

Fanfic Schedule News - 2024
You can find this post later in my Pinned Post links
Overview
- Fairly OddParents - On hiatus while buffer building. Weekly Friday updates when ready, probably in summer. Origin and Knots are planned to alternate to show both sides of the war, but can be read independently. - WordGirl - On hiatus while buffer building. Weekly updates when ready, but lower priority than FOP. I'd like to post a few one-shots in spring and summer. - MCYT - Weekly Tuesday updates (Dog's Life until Chapter 30, then other 'fics while Dog's Life is on break). I'm also posting on Friday, but am moving towards posting on Sunday. - Total Drama - I'm not writing new content for the TD fandom, but I have 40+ 'fics I posted on FFN, but not AO3. Now that many are 10 years old, I'd like to archive some on AO3. - Every year I say I want to post my Mario drafts, but... I don't think 2024 will be that year. We will see.
Fandom-Specific Series
I post 'fics under my AO3 account, FountainPenguin.
If you'd like to get notifications for new works but don't want to follow me as a user, consider subscribing to some fandom-specific series:
Fairly OddParents
130 Station - All pieces in the 130 Reasons Why I'm Fairy Trash series.
These are further broken down into "Trains" (Ex: Main cast, Anti-Fairies, Pixies, shippy stuff, etc.) - Find info HERE
Notable pieces that are not 130 Prompts include Origin of the Pixies, Frayed Knots, Come What May, and Reedfilter Rules, which may be best subscribed to individually- They do not have a series at this time.
WordGirl
Heroes' Journey - Stuff about WordGirl and Huggy learning to share Fair City with Kid Math
28 Million Degrees - Character studies
MCYT - Not RPF, but the 4th Wall is very thin
Pixels Imperfect - Pixel people (who are all mob hybrids) live in a server hub and roleplay with their friends. Lots of interpersonal and social drama mixed with humor.
Neighborhood Watch AU - A serious take on the Life series lore and mechanics, ft. a semi-medieval world where the first 5 Life seasons take place in a single timeline.
Roundabout - Misc. MCYT content
These pages also have links to character relationship series.
Total Drama
Riddle's Drama - Total Drama 'fics I wrote 2013-2016.
These are also on my FFN, where I cross-post my FOP and WordGirl content as well.
-------
Fairly OddParents
I'm working on a buffer for Origin of the Pixies and Frayed Knots chapters so they can alternate during the war. At the moment I'm posting content for other fandoms, but once the buffer is ready, these will roll out weekly. Hopefully by summer.
- Origin is caught up and ready for the war meeting next chapter, so we're just wrapping up Anti-Cosmo's school and relationship drama in Knots :) - We're in the era of 2016 draft chapters, so it's a combo of "Lots of stuff is already written" and "Lots of stuff needs to be updated."
Origin and Knots will update on Fridays when the time is right (alternating weeks).
The 130 Prompts wrapped up Arc 2 in December and is on hiatus.
If you missed the Arc 2 finale, check out "Grudge"- It's about Happy Peppy Gary and Crocker striking a dangerous deal and I think it's cute :)
Ideally, I'd like to finish the whole Come What May draft before I post more chapters (so we don't have more of these long lurches between chapters), and Reedfilter Rules is in a similar boat.
Origin and Knots are my priority, but once Come What May starts, I'd like to do weekly or bi-weekly updates until it's done.
WordGirl
Factor It In - I'm very happy with how the story has come out so far. It's fully outlined, but this is a "serious and fluffy" story and I've been on a "silly and angsty" streak lately, so the mood isn't there.
- I'd like to circle back to it soon, but don't want to post more chapters until I have a nice buffer. - I'd like to post again in autumn 2024 and keep up weekly updates for several months. Origin and Knots are higher priority, but I really like this story and look forward to more.
I have some WordGirl one-shot drafts I've been sitting on for months. I haven't been satisfied with them enough to post, but you might see them soon as I finalize them. There's no schedule for these, but they include:
- Local alien girl is SO brave about Rex's problems while they lie in the grass discussing love and culture - Local alien boy loses his fawn spots, comes of age, and hits up Hal Hardbargain for alien-strength deodorant - Character study for Victor Best (My horrible son) - Character study for pre-series Rex living on Hexagon (My somehow more horrible son) - Other drafts from 2018 that need polish
I so desperately want to show the world my "Hopelessly romantic life planner since he was born" x "She can't commit to anything including this" marriage of convenience superhero drama... He's oblivious... She's dying inside... He is so embarrassing... Do u understand my vision?
MCYT
- Dog's Life Session 2 will end with Chapter 30. I've finished up to Chapter 28 and just need to tweak the remaining chapters. It will then be on hiatus for a few months while I work on the Session 3 buffer and other projects.
Edit - Session 2 will actually be 36 chapters, so another month
Expecting 4 to 5 months of hiatus from regular updates with some intermission chapters a few weeks apart (Full moon arc, my beloved). I have 'fics I look forward to posting (including new multi-chapters that already have nice buffers and will post weekly), so there will be plenty of MCYT content, but it seemed wise to leave Dog's Life on break to avoid burnout. I hope you enjoy these new stories! When Dog's Life returns, it'll be with weekly updates for several months as per usual :)
My "first half of 2024" goal is to close out as many of my existing MCYT multi-chapters as I can. Thank you for your patience with multi-chapters that have slow updates- I plan to finish them soon :)
I recently completed For Sale: Bird Wings (Never Worn) with weekly updates and am on track to finish One and a Half Birds with weekly Friday updates.
After this, I would like to finish the last 2 to 3 chapters of Criminal Experience (which has always had Friday updates as well). I don't want to post the next chapter until I nail down the story's end, so there's been a delay, but I'm glad I've wrapped up other multi-chapters and I look forward to finishing this soon.
After this, I plan to post MCYT content Tuesdays and Sundays, leaving Fridays for my other fandoms.
What's on Tuesdays?
At the moment, Dog's Life for 7 more weeks. Session 2 ends with Chapter 30 on April 9th.
Edit: Chapter 36 on May 21st
I've started new multi-chapters while chasing inspiration bursts, but I held back from posting them, so now I have buffers for those. I look forward to sharing them throughout 2024. Two notable ones are:
- Chalaza - Quick story about Martyn arriving in New Star Station. Bdubs voice study, some practice writing short scenes, and this is the story that helped me nail down pixel person anatomy. ^ Highlights include Bdubs trotting around with Martyn's dissolved soul in a fishbowl and regaling Etho with tales of how the Phantom Dragon carries phantom hybrids in her mouth. Also, Martyn hides under Etho's couch for 4 days. - Herobrine's Guide to the Between Dimension - A meta story about my Between lore, hybrid anatomy, and hybrid culture. No plot, but I think it's fun.
These are expected to post Tuesdays while Dog's Life is on break :)
What's on Sundays?
At the moment, nothing- I'm posting on Fridays (weekly updates to One and a Half Birds for the next several weeks).
I've also got a draft called "Scar's Castle" that's about Grian doing chores during 3rd Life... we'll see if that turns out nice.
Now that Secret Life is over, I've been able to do more worldbuilding and story planning for Neighborhood Watch AU. I plan to post some one-shots soon. Highlights include:
"Goodchild Oscar" - Oscar Goodchild's lovely parents put out a hit on his soulmate. He drags Grian around the Hearts Club Ball in his attempts to thwart it. Title's subject to change, but this is a fun one :) "They Never Found the Desert" - Local Green Life parrot can't get Red Life soulmate motivated for anything. Desperate times call for desperate measures. "Ethograms, Etho Slab, and Something About Ethics (Probably)" - Joel studies wolves... and the single(?) dad who keeps coming around with his kids.
I've also been working on the big multi-chapter for this universe, which centers around the Clocker family: Arsenic Waltz. It's fully outlined and I'm 5 chapters into the buffer, but it doesn't feel "fun" to read yet, so... Hmm.
- If anyone wants to beta read the first 10k words where Martyn arrives at the Clocker residence and meets his soulmate Cleo for the first time, lmk? Been struggling with the pacing of action vs. world lore for months and it'd be nice to get outside thoughts. - My plan was to start posting in April after Dog's Life ends, but it might need more time. With weekly updates, it should finish in December or January, but I'd like a nice buffer first. Possibly, this story will start in the summer and end in early 2025.
EDIT - I ended up killing all these darlings and moving them to a separate story, which will be released at a later time. The pacing was just not working :)
Additional multi-chapters to wrap up:
Closed Door Policy - Can't finish until Criminal Experience is done. Will post Tuesdays or Sundays as appropriate (Expecting 2 or 3 more chapters).
Dear Future Captain - Waiting for Dog's Life to catch up to this part of the timeline (Between Sessions 4 and 5?) - I like my draft for Chapter 3, but I'd rather wrap up other stories first.
With Acid In Your Eyes - Outlined and expecting 10 chapters. This is a high-tension story I was excited for, but it's on the backburner while finalizing lore, social dynamics, and plot points. It was ambitious to post this one before things were solid, but I look forward to returning when I'm ready :)
If you're interested in being a beta reader for any of my work, you can get in touch. I've not worked with beta readers in fanfic before, but if you're interested, we can talk about it!
Thanks for reading! Happy 2024!

> Be me. > Think of a new AU for wordgirl. > The AU you thought involves her being a vigilante.
> Draw a lot of sketches about said AU. > Make a bunch of prompts and lore for said AU.
> At this point you should probably make a bunch of small comics revolving the AU to get to know about the world you're building more.
> And after that make a comic with a solid story line. I mean, you can already draw after all > Realize that you can't write, much less make a good story even if it's to save your life.

-Written and drawn to the tune of As the World Caves In-
(Feel free to add on in reblogs or whatever, I wanna see what ideas this gives people. .w.)
"A-Ah... Wordgirl... No, no mother didn't call and hang up, that... that was me... look I... I know I messed up... pretty bad this time. Dr. Two-Brains let me know nothing short of that... I just... I wanted to apologize. And ask something. In... I-In case him and I can't... fix this together... would... would you like to have ice cream with me-? As... a bit of a last meal, or what have you-? No, I'm... I'm not... 'flirtick' this time... Hahah, no, no, I know it's flirting... I just wanted to let you have that one, for once. Might as well try to lighten the mood before it all goes... no?"

Two ideas but basically alien puberty for both
Idea A: at some point she's just going through weird alien puberty (physical changes, hormones imbalances, new body parts, maybe even a new power) and the villains just all try to awkwardly help her cuz they don't know how to deal with children, less with puberty and even LESS with alien children going through puberty
Idea B: during alien puberty she basically becomes possessive/protective of anything and anyone she cares about. If the villains figure this out they expect her to be a lot more on guard with them and fussy over the citizens. Imagine their surprise when she starts chewing someone out a civilian because they made some rude comment about them.
Only gets worse when she just starts being clingy with them (Lexiconians are very pack oriented, and during puberty do they get more protective and needy of their pack) and is constantly hovering over them or just throws herself on top of them.
Ajrjjd sorry I just love spewing out ideas of the villains just being wordgirls funky little family ❤️
Okay this is great though. I remember discussing this in a discord server a while back and we talked about her getting like a tail and claws and stuff, and I’m absolutely obsessed with just WEIRD SHIT happening as she gets older
IDEA A:
- Tail. Giver her a tail. I propose like a little prehensile demon tail that she can fight and stab with but whatever works
- CLAWS AND FANGS seriously pls I need more Lexiconicans looking like absolutely wild predators I think it’s neat
- I’m gonna reference a fanfic again but She’s too big for these bones by RevengePanda ( https://archiveofourown.org/works/37743532?view_adult=true ) has the idea of Lexiconians actually BEING natural predators and Becky starts getting a #ThirstForBlood it’s really dark we love to see it
- Note to self I wanna ask the fic writer if I can write a spinoff where she goes to DTB and is like “Hey doc, how do you control your invasive and evergrowing hunger for cheese? Asking for a friend.” and since we’ve all just collectively agreed he’s studied Lexiconian stuff somehow he’s like “Ah well shit now I have to stop her from eating people”
- Also I was really fixated on the idea that she gets wings for some time and it makes no sense because she superman-style flies but LET ME HAVE THIS
- Also really into the idea of her actually having like an actual third eye that can open during intense situations
- Imagine she gains the power to shapeshift into a intimidating creature but it’s really hard for her to control so sometimes she just. Animalifies
- Mood swings galore, like way worse then a normal teenager, and during battles the villains have learned to start being careful with their banter or else she might start raging or crying, which are just both horrible options really
- I like to think since she’s showing more alien traits the mental distance between Becky and Wordgirl grows, Identity crisis angst prompt GO
- I refuse to believe the learnerer is human so I want him to not understand what the big deal is and just be like “it’s just what happens with teenagerers?? Why r we all flippinging out lol”
- No actually im not done talking about the fangs and claws thing, Becky’s mouth and fingers are sore lately and she doesn’t know why until she’s cornered by a villain and instinct takes over and SLASH, scratch marks across the face and she’s standing over them fangs bared, and then she comes back down, looks at her hands with blood on them, touches her canine teeth that grew out, and REALIZES
- Yall like spikes??? Give her back spikes lizard style. Who cares it’s fun go wild
- HEADCANON TIME Miss Power’s scaley spot is actually a scarred over injury, instead of a normal scar it’s scaley for protection. This is something developed in certain alien species, Lexiconians being one of them, so imagine Becky gets a horrible injury and is HORRIFIED to discover that the “healing” looks like Miss Power’s face
- For a short amount of time due to some weird alien puberty where they develop adult-hunting instincts or whatever, Becky either just LOSES her mind like full on wild animal, OR she gets really creepy and quiet like bird-of-prey style, and the villains have to contain her before she starts attacking things, but struggles really bad with it because she’s not holding back at all anymore
- Every time something weird happens during a battle or alien hormones start acting up the villains call DTB for help because he’s the closest thing they have to an expert thats not Huggy (they can’t understand him and are too afraid to ask wordgirl to translate atm)
- DTB is getting reaaaaal sick of this
- Tobey borrows a book from DTB on Lexiconian stuff (I imagine Huggy helped him write it when he was Steven) and accidentally gets hyperfixated on it and keeps telling Wordgirl things she doesn’t want nor care to know about herself/her people. Like she loves knowing about her culture but does she REALLY need to know who the first Lexicon Library was founded by
- She gets incredibly attached to Rex during all this
- Becky has to hide all her new body parts and uncontrollable powers from her daily life and keeps making up wilder and wilder excuses for what’s happening
- Violet and Scoops take pity on her by restraining her from talking every single time something alien happens, and they just make up something instead (Becky is so bad at coverups bless her)
- The whole alien puberty thing opens up casual discussion with people she knows about her actual biology, and they are shocked to learn about things like the fact that, this entire time, she thought everyone on earth was just breathing oxygen for funsies
- Becky starts missing Lexicon a lot, which is weird because she doesn’t remember ever being there. A lot of times she gets a pang in her chest though, like her home is calling to her.
IDEA B:
- In love with the found family too yes <3
- when they all kinda grasp what’s happening DTB warns the villains that Wordgirl might start being extra aggressive to them while she’s going through alien puberty
- I love this sm The first person after this meeting she fights is Butcher, and he gets in a petty argument with a citizen, WG goes “HEY!” all aggressively and he thinks that he’s gonna get yelled at, but she steps in front of him to tell the citizen to mind their own business
- If someone’s mean to someone she cares about she will just start hissing and it’s making everyone uncomfortable at this point. She has no idea that she’s doing it
- After capturing villains if there’s time she usually chats with them, but now she also will lean on them or even just kindof, hold them in the air. In some cases with the ones she’s closest with she’ll even hug them for a bit, They don’t know what to make of this at first but they all pretty much learn to appreciate the affection and let her do her thing
- She gets bold and comes over DTB’s warehouse like she used to do and will just surprise him by flying behind him and resting her chin on his head and is like “Whatcha workin on :D” and he has to lie and pretend it’s not an evil ray. He lets her hang out and help him build little side projects
- Hi Tobecky fans so Tobey is in heaven, like Wordgirl is 40% more likely to agree to ice cream nowadays, and because he’s the villain most reciprocative of the physical affection she’s become very very cuddly with him while they wait for his mom to come get him after battles.
- also he’s totally not enjoying how Becky Botsford (separate person) sometimes leans on his desk and on his shoulder during lab class now, no he doesn’t like it and he definitely isn’t leaning against her too, why would you say that??
- She is sooooo clingy with her family and her parents couldn’t be more delighted. Tj on the other hand loves his sister, he really does, but would appreciate FIVE MINUTES alone to do his homework. Becky we’ve watched this episode of Pretty princess already. Becky I don’t want to make cookies right now, we just ate. Becky I don’t need homework help. Becky please.
- At school she is attached to Violet and Scoops at the hip and gets sad when they have to separate, they find it humorously endearing and try to have at least one of them by her side at all times
-Becktoria hi whenever Victoria’s parents are mean to her Wordgirl starts directly standing up to them because now that they’re older Becky is starting to be able to see what’s actually going on here, and because she is her she wants to help, and because of the hormones it makes her REALLY angry to see Victoria be put down like that and then they kiss
-If Chuck is ever down on himself Wordgirl gets really emotional about it and hugs him and tells him that he’s wonderful until he starts getting emotional too
- Just a lot of fluffy hugs brrrr

It’s Here, My Version of the Becky Boxleitner au
Disclaimer: I do not own the use of characters and episodes from the Wordgirl television series. Everything that is Wordgirl canon belongs to Soup2Nuts which is an animation unit of Scholastic Entertainment for PBS Kids. Worgirlchronicles is the original creator for this au and I created my version based off their au.
Note: My plans for the Becky Boxleitner au stories were to do some rewrites of the canon episodes to fit for the au. I am not going to do every episode, because there are some that can fit in both the canon universe and the au without any changes. I will exclude a few episodes such as “Dr. Two Brains Forgets” and “Dinner and Consequences” because I can’t work these episodes in my au. I have tried. For some episodes I am just going to do one-shots for scenes that definitely would be altered for the au while the other scenes can still fit as in canon. When I get to writing the stories, the arrangement of episodes will change from how they are arranged in canon.
Here is a summary of my version for the Becky Boxleitner au: So Steven raises Becky and Bob and soon becomes Dr Two Brains. The short that gives the origin is basically the same except for a few things. One, Becky does not encounter TJ before she sees what has happened to her Dad. Next, Dr. Two Brains does not announce his new name until the grocery store scene because Becky calls him dad and he still responds to that term. Another difference is that Becky and Bob see Dr. Two Brain’s broadcast to threaten the city in order to get all the cheese from a Television in a store window. Also during when Wordgirl is trapped by Two-Brains, before the Botsfords show up, she tries to reach Dr. Boxleitner again and asks to think about his daughter (her), this snaps Two Brains/Boxleitner out of it long enough that he goes off while clutching his head in pain. While trying to fight for control, Steven pulls out a picture of him and Becky from his pocket. This gives Steven enough mental strength and motivation to strike a deal/threaten Squeaky. Steven would steal all the cheese for the mouse brain, but Becky would never be harmed or Steven would do something harmful that would make them both lose everything they care about. Basically its “You get my daughter hurt, we both go down!” Squeaky agrees out of some respect for Steven’s parental instinct and a little fearful of a dad’s anger. So the Botsfords come in, distract Two Brains, and Wordgirl escapes the trap and captures Two Brains. While in jail, Two Brains gets in contact with Sally Botsford and strikes a deal with her. Two Brains knew he would come back to jail after committing more cheese crimes so he asked Mrs. Botsford if she would take in Becky while he was in jail. This is because she can’t stay at her friends houses every time Two Brains went to jail and to prevent Social Services from getting involved and possibly having to take Becky away from the city and from him. In Two Brain’s mind, staying with the district attorney would legally provide Becky with safety and security and he could come get her when he got out (when he served his time or broke out, which ever came first). In this way, Two Brains would still be a part of Becky’s life and continue to raise her the best he could. Mrs. Botsford happily agreed. Mrs. Botsford also arranged a visitor’s meeting between Becky and Dr. Two Brains. This is the hurt/comfort part of the au. Mrs. Botsford comes by the apartment that Becky, Bob, and her dad lived in before the accident and explains to Becky what her dad asked of Mrs. Botsford. Becky is surprised and emotionally touched by what her dad did. A few days after the incident, Becky meets her dad in jail, Two Brains goes fatherly at first and asks her if she is alright. He then explains to her the full situation they have to face for the future. Two Brains then goes on to explain that he is not fully Steven Boxleitner anymore but he is still her dad and still loves her very much (even more than cheese). Becky is emotionally touched, and crying a little bit. She goes along with the deal and decides to try and work things out with her dad even though he is now a super villain and she is still a superhero. (Steven does not know Becky is Wordgirl. (not yet.😯) Here is an outline of how the au will go.
Becky does live in the warehouse with her dad and henchman (when her dad is not in jail). She has her own private bedroom and bathroom. Her bedroom looks similar to the canon bedroom in the series.
Violet and Scoops are still her friends in this au. Their parents will let them come over to the warehouse for a few hours at a time. According to the parents, Becky’s dad is a villain now but he is still a good parent so why not? No sleepovers at Becky’s house though. There are limits.
During certain times when Becky is Wordgirl, she tries to cover up when she accidentally calls Two Brains dad like she does with her canon family.
When living with the Botsfords, Becky refers to Tim and Sally as Mr. and Mrs. Botsford.
Tobey and Victoria refer to Becky as Becky Boxleitner.
When Becky visits her dad in jail, she is allowed to bring him slices of cheese and they talk for about an hour and a half.
It gets hilariously awkward when Dr. Two Brains tries to get Becky into villainy when she is already a superhero.
Dr. Two Brains is a bit more in control of himself than in canon. It’s because he as a daughter to think about.
He acts a little like Doofensmirtz does towards Vanessa in this au. A loving yet embarrassing father. He is still the top villain in this city. Two Brains does appreciate his henchmen a little better in this au. The henchmen also care about Becky in this au. They treat her as their niece. (I am not going to implement ships in the main version of the au. I am only going to go by canonical ships when doing rewrites of the episodes. I may include a few one-shots or stories that focus on the shipping. I just want to see how Tobecky would do in this au.😏)
Dr. Two Brains has two switches; his villain and Becky switch. His Becky switch is activated when he is being parental to Becky and if he sees Becky is hurt. Two Brains can get overprotective of his daughter and will not hesitate to harm (and possibly kill) anyone that will hurt his little girl. It takes a lot of effort by Wordgirl and the villains when Two Brains acts like this just to hold him back. Two Brains will actually break through Granny May’s purple yarn if he gets into protective/angry parent mode. No one messes with his daughter.
That is all I have for this au now. I will get to writing some stories soon. To those who have seen some of my story prompts for other shows, I will get to them. When I usually see a new show, prompt, or au that I like, I tend to focus on that for a while. I will get to those stories when I can.

And Two-Brains Got Away!
Hey @newsiegirlscout! So sorry it’s late, but here’s your Secret Santa gift! You asked for either Tobey having family fun with his mother or Tobey and Two-Brains bonding, but I decided to write a fanfic covering both at once! :D
I hope you had a lovely Christmas and have a very happy new year/decade!
Thanks to @void-apocalypse for hosting the gift exchange, too!
Tobey’s life was always full of last-minutes. Last-minute plans, last-minute cancellations, last-minute, well, everything.
It’d been this way as far as he could remember. This constant unpredictability might have fazed some people, but never him. At least he could construct his robots in peace while she was out.
So when his mother suggested they go out and get a nice Christmas tree right on Christmas morning, Tobey wasn’t at all surprised.
The tree lot was barren save for a few ramshackle bundles of sticks that hardly qualified as a “tree”. That didn’t stop the overexcited salesman from trying to push one onto his mother, though.
He sighed, and the crisp winter air spooled out before him like a puff of smoke. What a foolish endeavor. Didn’t the salesman know who he was even talking to? There was no way his mother would shill out a penny for a pathetic twig like that.
Tobey eyed the enormous pine tree by the salesman’s cabin. It had a massive trunk nearly as wide as it was tall, and the tree was tall enough to rival even his robuts’ heights. Not a practical Christmas tree by any means, but it was by far the best option here.
“Pardon me, Mr. Salesman,” Tobey piped up right as the man showed off yet another pathetic excuse of a tree. “But would you be willing to part with that one over there?”
The salesman hardly glanced over at the towering pine before he burst out laughing. “Ol’ Piney’s been there since before I was born! Family’s tried fer years to tear ‘er down, but ain’t nobody’s been successful yet!”
“So if I were able to take it down, would you let us bring it home?” Tobey pressed.
The salesman roared again. “Persistent lil’ feller, ain’t ya?” He wiped his nose and looked up at the tree once more. “Tell ya what. If you can somehow cut Ol’ Piney down, I’ll let ya have ‘er, free of charge!”
A wicked grin split across Tobey’s face. “‘Free of charge’, hm?”
His mother narrowed her eyes. “Tobey? What are you plotting?”
Instead of answering, Tobey dug a remote from his pocket and pressed a sequence into it with a needless flair. The ground rumbled as something massive approached closer...and closer.
The few crows that had settled on “Ol' Piney” scattered away just as one of Tobey’s robots strolled casually down the street up to them. The shady salesman sputtered out a few incoherent syllables as the robot stooped to pluck Old Piney up like a flower, roots and all.
“You...You cheated,” the salesman wheezed, pointing an accusing finger at him.
Tobey nearly burst out in maniacal laughter. What a sore loser.
“You never specified how I was to take this tree down, my good sir. I thought using my robut would be fair game.” He blinked innocently up at the two adults staring down at him.
Much to his surprise, his mother started to laugh. A lot.
The sound was infectious, and soon, the two of them found themselves laughing all the way back home again.
Claire wiped at the tears rolling down her cheeks. “Oh...Oh goodness, Tobey! You really showed him!”
“Serves him right for trying to peddle mere twigs to a lawyer and the world’s most formidable boy genius!” Tobey huffed.
His smug guise soon dispersed into childish giggles when his mother ruffled his hair. “Tobey, your mischief has proven to be rather valuable this time, so I’ll let the use of your robots slide just this once.”
They leapt up in their seats when the robot set the tree next to their house with a resounding boom, garnering even more foolish laughter from them both.
Most of their day after was dedicated to decorating their new Christmas tree. It had been some time since he and his mother had been downtown, but Tobey would bet that their tree was far superior to the shrub in front of City Hall.
At last, his robot daintily placed their enormous Christmas star on top. Tobey held the switch to his mother, and she flipped the heavy lever “On”.
A gentle flood of light washed over their yard like light snowfall. Not bad for having set it up just that day.
Claire wrapped an arm around her son’s shoulders, her eyes gleaming with a keen pride. “Merry Christmas, Tobey.”
“Merry Christmas, mother,” he whispered as he settled against her.
After watching the lights dance along their tree for a few moments longer, the two headed inside to stir up some hot chocolate and pop some kettle corn.
Last-minute tree. Last-minute cocoa. Last-minute present exchanges.
Yes, some people might not appreciate the rushed nature of it all. Tobey McCallister, however, couldn’t imagine a better Christmas with his mother.
It was perfect.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Or at least it was until someone knocked insistently on their front door.
They exchanged glances with one another, but it was clear from the puzzled looks on both their faces that neither of them were expecting anyone.
The door burst open as soon as his mother unlatched the last lock.
“Merry Christmas!” Doctor Two-Brains and his two henchmen yelled. Two-Brains was dressed up in a horrid Santa suit while the two henchmen flanking him had put on green hats with jingling bells on the end of them.
Claire put a hand over her heart. “Oh my!”
“Ho ho ho and etcetera.” Two-Brains rolled his hand as if he couldn’t be bothered to introduce himself properly. “I heard that a very naughty boy lives here! I’ve come to give him a lump of coal!”
The henchmen giggled to themselves as they fished out a large black lump from the red bag their boss toted around. The “lump of coal” in question was in reality just a poorly wrapped gift plopped right onto his lap. Tobey even saw the end of a ray gun poking through the wrapping but decided not to say anything about it.
“Oh, how...thoughtful…” Tobey mused as he caught his mother’s stern eye. Once he managed to tear off all the crumpled wrapping paper, Two-Brains cackled like he had pulled the greatest prank known to villain-kind.
“Did I say lump of coal? I meant ray gun!” Two-Brains-Santa said. “Naughty boys get lumps of coal. Evil villain boys, on the other hand? They get evil villain accessories.”
There was a metallic switch on the side of the ray that said “Shrink” on one side and “Grow” on the other.
Two-Brains flopped onto the couch next to him, moving the switch back and forth like he couldn’t contain his energy. “Just flick the switch, aim, then bam! Make your robots travel-size for easier transport! Flip it back and blam-o! Fifty-foot robots in the blink of an eye!”
He swept his arm out in front of him as if he could picture the scene.
“Now Tobey, what do we say?” his mother prompted.
Tobey resisted the urge to roll his eyes. “Thank you, Doctor Two-Brains. I’m sure this will actually prove useful to me in the future.”
“I don’t appreciate your sarcasm, but you’re welcome anyway, kid. Aaaaand I got your mother a little something, too, since she’s been very good this year! Almost too good considering how many times I—I mean—renowned villain Doctor Two-Brains ended up in jail.”
Claire blinked when he handed her a gift card to her favorite tea place in town. “Oh! Why, thank you very much! I’m sorry I couldn’t get you anything. I didn’t even know you would be stopping by!”
She threw her son a questioning look, but he just shrugged. He certainly didn’t invite them over.
“This was all a surprise my henchmen and I planned for this year! We got gifts for every villain in town! In fact, Tobey was our last stop, and I gotta tell ya, I am exhausted.” Two-Brains ripped off the fake, itchy beard and fanned himself with his Santa hat.
“Oh! Well, the least I could do is offer you and your henchmen some hot cocoa!” Claire said as she rushed off to do just that.
The henchmen’s eyes brightened. “We love hot cocoa! Thank you so much!”
“It’s my pleasure!” Claire spooned hot chocolate into some chipped Christmas-themed mugs. “Would you like marshmallows?”
“Yes, please!”
A hush fell over the McCallister living room as everyone sipped their delicious cocoa. Considering most of the people there were villains Claire McCallister had sentenced to jail several times, it was unbearably awkward.
“So...cozy place you got here,” Two-Brains began just to lighten the tension.
“Thank you,” his mother said.
“Surprising lack of robots.”
“My room’s full of them,” Tobey replied.
The small talk only fueled the awkwardness even more.
Two-Brains drummed his fingers on the arm of the couch and looked all around, hoping a topic would simply appear out of thin air.
Charlie whispered something in the other henchman’s ear and he smiled.
“Hey, Boss!”
“Yeah, what?”
“Me ‘n Charlie were wondering...since we didn’t get the chance to go caroling at the other villains’ houses...could we sing a few holiday carols here? For Tobey and his mom?”
Again, Tobey and his mother exchanged questioning glances. Just how well could they all sing together anyway?
“Eeeeh, I don’t know….” Two-Brains took Tobey’s shrink ray, switched it to “Grow” mode, then shot it at a wheel of cheese he fished out of his pocket.
“Aw, c’mon, Boss! This could count as your Christmas gift to us!” his henchman begged. Charlie nodded silently along.
Two-Brains jumped at the chance like the cheapskate he was. “Alright then, that’s your present! No take-backs!”
His henchmen giggled to themselves. “Could you...Could you sing that one you made up about WordGirl?”
Tobey sat up straighter in his seat. “A song about WordGirl, you say?”
His eyes darted to the floor when everyone turned to look at him. “I-I mean, boo, a song about WordGirl. Must be a rather boring song.”
Two-Brains snorted. “Nah, I think it’s one you’ll like. It goes a little something like this!”
The doctor took a deep breath, cleared his throat, and began, “Dashing through the snow, in a van made out of cheese, o’er the streets we go, laughing all the way, HAHAHA!”
Despite the inherent ridiculousness of the lyrics, Tobey and his mother couldn’t help but stare in awe at how well Doctor Two-Brains sang. One would expect that his singing would sound just as nasally and near-grating as his speaking voice. Not this beautiful operatic melody before them.
“C’mon, everybody now!” the doctor urged, throwing his hands up in the air.
His henchmen joined in with a low baritone. Charlie waggled his finger to the beat. Even his mother chirped along: “Jingle bells! WordGirl smells! Two-Brains got awaaaaay! Oh what fun it is to steal a great, old, big cheese wheel! Hey!”
Just as they were about to go into the second verse, Two-Brains nudged Tobey’s shoulder. “Don’t you wanna sing along?”
A rare nervous expression flashed across his face for a moment before he replaced it with feigned boredom. “Not really. It’s a rather silly song.”
“Uh, yeah, it’s supposed to be! The holidays are always full of silly stuff like this! Don’t be such a curmudgeon.”
His face flushed. “I...I’m not a curmudgeon!”
“Then sing along with us, kid! C’mon!”
Tobey made a show of rolling his eyes, but eventually joined in anyway. If they chanced a look outside, they might have caught sight of Tobey’s robot peeking in with a wide smile.
“And Two-Brains got AAAAWAAAAAAYYYY! HEY!”
Their voices and warm laughter floated through the window into the winter night.

"I'm not going to apologize to Mona Crimia or Glen, they had it coming."
“Steven…be reasonable!” “I am.” Steven says. “And my conscience is telling me no.” “If you can forgive me. You can forgive Mona and Glen.” Carrie said crossing her arms. “It’s different….” he grumbles. Not wanting to elaborate on why. Not that she was buying it. “How?” Steven sighed. “It’s just is! okay?” “That’s not a good excuse. You’re going on that tour and you are going to apologize.” Carrie said. She already made amends to her friends and villains alike. Heck! She even decided to not beef with miss heart and Mr. big out of all people! (albeit bitter with the stunts the two have pulled in the past but still) She couldn't see why Steven was being difficult. He knew when she got like this there wasnt really any room to argue. Things were getting better between them. He didn't want to ruin it by making this turn into a huge argument. After all, the former villain did promise to try better. He sighed again. It was probably for the best he remained civil at the very least. Even to some villains, he wasn’t particularly happy to see again. miss heart - @liloskull343's oc

34 & 38 for the fanfic meme? [Can skip 38 if you're uncomfy posting it ofc]
[Current Ask game]
34. Was there any fic that you wrote that really surprised you in the fandom reaction? Was it just by the numbers or did they take it an entirely different way?
The stories that are my favorites frequently go unloved, and the stories I don't care for are more likely to be popular, which I'm sure can be largely attributed to me liking obscure characters instead of popular characters, and my taste of liking long, raw emotion 'fics with relationship drama more than I like my surface-level one-shots.
My three most popular (in terms of kudos) stories for the 130 Prompts project are "Mama's Boy," "End of the World," and "Weakening" which are all near the top of my personal "'fics I don't like" list. I personally think they're poor examples of my writing abilities, but people like them, so to each their own. I'm glad people like them enough to leave kudos on those pieces so that if I choose to ignore their opinions and move forward with my own, at least I'm aware of what I'm doing /lh
(The love for "Sunk Too Deep" always surprises me too, but I'm happy for it and I do feel it's deserved even if I "don't get it," ha ha).
I was also very touched when I returned to writing 'fics again after an extended hiatus and discovered that my most popular 'fic on AO3 is "AlgoRhythm." I wrote it in 2018 and it got its first AO3 comment in November 2020, plus it received multiple comments in 2022. I was on hiatus at the time and not keeping up with my 'fic feedback, so that was a very cool thing to see when I came back and already had the urge to write WordGirl again.
It was just kind of a /pikagasp moment that was really cool to me, because I always loved this 'fic and it was so cool to realize it had become the fan favorite in my library without me knowing. I'm really sad that I missed the resurgence of WordGirl popularity in early 2022, but I'm glad my 2018 'fic was there for people to enjoy even if I wasn't around to be involved.
I wrote a 'fic once years ago - I won't say which one - and a reader commented on it saying that they loved it, it made them cry, etc. Excitedly, I explained that I didn't like the way the show writers had pulled off X scene and so this was my fix-it for that, and I loved my angsty scene and I was so happy they loved it too.
The reviewer pulled a 180 on me and completely changed their POV, saying that my story was ruined for them now because they found it disgusting that I had written such a middle finger against the show creators and their canon.
It was a big slap in the face to me that hurt a lot at the time, especially since my entire brand is canon compliancy, but it's not something that still hangs over me today. Just an interesting story to keep around as a reminder that not everyone's going to love your ideas. I'm glad I have other nice comments on that story I can enjoy because man... sometimes you just get comments that bite. One of the risks you take in posting writing online.
38. Have you ever purposefully written something you know your readers would find uncomfortable/would not enjoy? If yes, why?
I'm going to assume that people who choose to read things like angst desire the angst, so this isn't about that.
I do like to set expectations, especially in long 'fics. Case in point: Frayed Knots Chapter 2 is Chapter 2 for a reason. If you can't get through Infant Marsupial Rescue Mission, you're not gonna like the rest of the 'fic, so just drop off now.
Like... seriously. Frayed Knots GOES PLACES and delves into THEMES. We've got an evil villain of a protagonist who is gonna do some upsetting stuff like manipulate his S/O into dubious consent situations, willingly put HIMSELF into situations of dubious consent as he tries to flirt his way through politics, and also he's a chronic cheater whose entire backstory is built around the idea of betraying others in pursuit of science, so... chances are high that it is not your type of 'fic if the dead marsupial mom scene is too much for you.
That said, I still think that scene was objectively tame because it's blood-free, it's the death of a character we don't have a connection to, and the characters talk about what they're about to face before they arrive at the scene, giving the reader time to bail early if they start growing uncomfortable. I tried to make it as un-upsetting as I could while still setting up this idea of "Buckle up, because we're only in Chapter 2 and I want you to be aware that the content warnings are there for a reason and this story's okay with discussing dark topics and non-human biology."
As a fun parallel along the lines of setting expectations, the opening line of Origin of the Pixies seems absolutely wild: "On a daily basis, it still baffles me to remember how many people don't know that squids keep libraries."
Perhaps an odd move for a Fairly OddParents 'fic that explores the Head Pixie's backstory, but it's important to me. The Yugopotamian library holds a lot of meaning for H.P. because he's stationed there during the war with the Anti-Fairies. He's in the eye of the hurricane, the universe falling apart around him, and... this is his little safe space where he has his pixies around him, and the library keeps them safe. He reads, researches, and it becomes a meaningful place to him.
I like to think of this as an exercise in patience. Those who remember the opening line might be chomping at the bit for a while, wondering when we get to see the squids and the library, but reading the 'fic requires you to slow down and absorb the little moments, which is exactly how H.P. learns to live his life.
By the time you get to the Yugopotamian scenes, chances are that you've completely forgotten this was the opening line of the 'fic. But Origin is a 'fic that's full of secrets that you'll only catch upon a reread, and this is one of them. It's a secret little nod to the fact that H.P. values the library scenes even when it's not obvious... which is the overall theme of the story. Not sure if that counts as upsetting, but it counts as deliberate.
I have a lot of private opinions about my headcanons that I don't normally talk about unless asked directly, because I'm very aware that my opinions are unpopular. I've seen some widely accepted fandom headcanons that certain fandoms like to hold up as canon, and I don't agree with those headcanons, which is sometimes awkward. I often ship rarepairs, and some of my rarepairs are so rare that I've never seen anyone even discuss them in a fandom space, let alone actually draw or write for them.
A lot of my favorite characters are ignored, poorly treated, or outright bashed in 'fics. I've been nipped at over the years for enjoying X or Y part of someone's characterization - tbh I left one of my fandoms because a ring of people were talking behind my back about how they thought my character analyses were stupid - so a lot of the time I just sort of... surface skim past the things I want to delve into. One day I'd like to get into the stuff I really enjoy, but for now I'm just playing out some tamer storylines.
I'd really like to work more on writing emotions, especially angst. I consider myself as someone who writes very tame content that might tickle your brain "logically," but doesn't really touch emotions (as far as I know; as the writer, everything falls flat to me because I already know what's coming and don't get to be surprised, so I just have to go off what readers tell me to know if something is hitting right or not).
I'd love to write some hard-hitting angst one day and (separately) I'd also love to write some enthralling romance. Some people who follow my current work might find some of that upsetting, but someday I'd like to start a new project where I do this sort of thing.

I love seeing how you write Dexter and Tobey. I feel like its so hard to write characters from older cartoons that people may not remember, or may have never seen in Wordgirl's case. You bring them to life, not only with your roleplaying but your drawings of them as well. It always makes me so happy to see either of them on my dash

So It Begins
Hello everyone! I’m Head, someone who overthinks things a whole lot.
Ideas for games and such have been swirling in my head for so long, and I have no one to share them with! What’s an idea worth if you can’t tell others about it?
So, I’m starting this blog to do just that!
Send your Headcannons/Imagines prompts in, and I’ll expand them!
Now! To begin, here are some guidelines:
Please specify which Series, Character you want to request a headcannon/Imagine for.
Please also send in a specific idea, and DO NOT send in something like “Make Headcannons for [character]” or anything along those lines.
What I will do:
- Angst
- Fluff
- Hurt/Comfort
- Trauma
- Autism, ADHD, and Depression, panic/anxiety Headcannons (only these because I have personal experiences with them, I want to write mental illness as accurately as possible)
- Death
- Gender/Sexuality Headcannons (and coming out if so desired)
- I’m pretty open to anything, feel free to ask!
(Trigger warnings will be tagged with the name of the trigger, and “tw” at the end)
What I will NOT do:
- NSFW/KINK (Sorry!)
- Pedo//philia
- Torture (Post-torture fluff/angst is okay)
- Abusive Relationships
- Real People
Remember: I may not be aware of things I am/am not comfortable with writing that are not included on this list, so I reserve the right to turn down anything sent to me if I so wish
Now that all that icky serious stuff is over with, here are the series I write for!
- No Straight Roads
- Freaky Flyers
- Super Paper Mario (Only this one, I’ve never played any of the other Paper games)
- Rusty Lake/Cube Escape
- Bob's Burgers
- WordGirl

- OK K.O.!
- FNaF (I have a lot of Headcannons and imagines for this, but you’ve lost me on the lore)
That’s all for now! Feel free to send in some requests, and get this show started!

Here's a link to my account, if anyone's interested!
So far I've posted fanfiction for Odd Squad and WordGirl, with some Milo Murphy's Law stories on the way!
(I also have a book of writing prompts and a book where I post art, story synopses, and other randomness, but I don't know if those count as stories. 😝)
I have FanFiction.net too; but nothing's posted there. ...Yet. ;D
