Canon (but really Fanon) Dadzawa Stans: it's so sweet how Aizawa really cares about Izuku! Sure, he's always threatening to expel him and refuses to actually help him with OFA, but he's always protecting him! Sure, he calls Izuku Problem Child over a rescue operation that wasn't even Izuku's idea in the first place and for having the nerve to try and defend himself against his bully, but it's such a cute nickname! Isn't it great how he's clearly the best father figure for Izuku to have, even though he has something against him and only realizes the error of his ways towards the end of the story while never apologizing to him?
Canon All Might who calls Izuku "Young Midoriya", "my Prince of Nonsense", "my boy", and "Squirt/Kid (depending on the translation), carried him home and scolded him for pushing himself too hard during the Takoba Beach clean up, only wants him to try his best and praises him for helping those around him, and tagged along during the Dark Izuku arc so he could make sure Izuku was getting enough food and rest:

The All Might Bashing both in canon and fanon will never NOT piss me off.
Is All Might a man with flaws? Yes. Has he made some dumb and horrible decisions? Yes he has. But that doesn't mean he deserves to be demonized for it!
The show LOVES to point and pin blame on All Might when it's convenient! Like Aizawa saying he's playing favorites with Izuku or Bakugou saying that it was ALL MIGHT'S fault for Izuku's low self esteem!
Meanwhile the show LOVES to place Aizawa on a pedestal and brush off any flaws or red flags he has! Praising him to be the Einstein of Japan as he knows how to teach kids on how to be mini adults!
Hi @theloganator101 👋,
All of this. All Might has made some horrible decisions and has made mistakes but, unlike Aizawa, he has learnt from them.
All Might vows to do and has tried his best every step of this story whereas Aizawa has never tried his best or admitted, out loud, that he was wrong.
All Might has things he can be critiqued for yet it is easy to see that he is well meaning and wants to do better. Unlike Aizawa, who can come across downright malicious and cruel at times and has shown no willingness to change.
So, Canon upholding Aizawa as the Einstien of Japan while penalizing All Might for every little mistake is horrible to see.
Fanon goes one step further in Dadzawa and AM bashing fics - usually turning Aizawa into 'Dadzawa' a gruff yet caring teacher who isn't cruel in the slightest and Yagi into 'Hell-Might' an awful, quirkist and cruel bigot that only shares a name with his canon counterpart. (Canon! All Might would likely want to deck the bastardised fanon! version of him 'Hell-Might' in the face, but I digress.)
It makes you wonder if these Authors are just twisting the characters to fit their story (which is fine, they can write whatever they want) or if they truly are interpreting Aizawa and All Might this way...
If it's the latter, they need to reread canon instead of the many Dadzawa and AM bashing fics that are out there because All Might deserves better treatment than this.

You know what annoys me most about the entire Yagi and Inko bashing? Canonically EVERY adult has failed Izuku, every single one of them, (even Aizawa, especially Aizawa). However it's only Yagi and Inko who realized their own mistakes and tried to make amends and yet it's them who get most hated meanwhile Aizawa did fuck all for Izuku and yet the fandom treats him like a sagely perfect teacher because muhmuhm he expels kids to give them fear of death

wedding
Small headcanons about Aizawa, Toshinori, Hizashi, and Gang Orca's wedding.
I'm once again sorry about my absence. I'm trying my hardest to write. It's coming slowly, but it is coming. I promise. <3
Tumblr media
Aizawa Shouta
Shouta wouldn't bring up marriage until a long while into the relationship. It's never something he's put much thought into, and he certainly never pictured marriage coming quickly or easily. He just needs time to warm up to the idea, partly because he's afraid of it ending badly, like how everyone fears, and partly because he's well aware he isn’t the 'husband type' people tend to picture. But he isn’t against it. Having someone beside you during your worst and highest points, sharing the love and emotions, is, admittedly, a comforting thought.
Before officially proposing, he’ll talk about it with you extensively. He isn’t the type to surprise his partner, putting way too much pressure on them in public (he often finds himself grimacing at the men who do that and their poor, speechless partners). The proposal “event” would be small — It’s evening. You’re unwinding on the couch after a long day out. And he casually slides the ring on your finger, asking if you’d marry him. The ring is simple, natural, and beautiful. White gold bands intertwine like vines, holding a petite rose quartz stone.
He'd want a small wedding. No annoying bands, large festivities, or overly complicated planning. In fact, continually insisting on those actually makes him hesitant about getting married, as he'd feel you weren't considering his wants. He simply wishes the wedding would celebrate you and him, with some good food and the people closest and most important to you.
During the event, it's hard to read him. His face is flat as usual. His jaw is clenched, arms crossed, close to his body. Yet his eyes are genuinely happy. He doesn't get a lot of occasions to relax with his friends, but he worries something's going to ruin it. Rub the small of his back, hold his hand, and don't be afraid to kiss him publicly. It's the one time he's okay with it. And it helps him relax.
Sho is definitely someone that spends as little as possible on the wedding and uses the saved money for a longer, better honeymoon. Where it is, though, he doesn't care that much. As long as it's not to some casino or any other loud place, he's okay with you deciding. He trusts you not to drag him anywhere he'd hate. Besides, letting you pick gives you a chance to surprise him with something he truly deserves: a relaxing vacation away from his stressful life.
Once the emotions settle after everything, Shouta wouldn't feel much different. Your lives are pretty much the same. Though, his chest fills with a pleasant warmth when he's able to circle "spouse" instead of simply "partner" on paperwork or anything like it for a while. Not that he'd say it. And wearing the silver ring is quite nice, knowing you're also wearing one.
Tumblr media
Yagi Toshinori
When he was younger, Toshi occasionally thought about getting married and having kids and how nice it would be to have that simple life. But then he became All Might. And then he got sick. And now he's sick and retired, struggling to see himself as worthy or as important as he once was. Marriage stopped occurring to him. He thought it'd just be another part of life he wouldn't get to experience.
His proposal comes at the end of a romantic evening together. He plans it meticulously and worries throughout the date, toying with the box in his pocket while you eat dinner and walk through the park. The question comes a bit earlier than planned. He stops you among the trees and flowers and kneels, revealing the rose gold engagement ring with your favorite stone in the center.
Whether it's more traditional, more western style, or a combo, it doesn't matter. Toshi isn't picky. He, like Shouta, just doesn't want it to be large or overly invasive like all the press and media events he's been subjected to. He'd invite Gran Torino, Midorya, Tsukauchi, and a few other close friends, but that's about it. This one part of his life he'd like to stay his.
His ideal wedding would be outside at a nice hotel or villa near the woods or ocean. Lanterns and string lights hang on the trees. Soft colors decorate everything — maybe a pale beige complimenting pink or a gentle cream to go with purple. Candles. Flowers. The ribbons on the chairs. It all matches perfectly. His outfit compliments what you choose to wear. A calm atmosphere, you, and your happiness are all he really wants.
You won't really get a chance to pick your honeymoon destination because he'll surprise you with a trip to some place you've always wanted to go. So, in a sense, you do pick it, but he buys the plane tickets, books the hotel room, and looks into local activities before you can even bring up the idea of the honeymoon. It doesn’t matter if it's to the Naturmuseum Senckenberg in Germany that you've talked about for years or to Iceland, so you can finally see the aurora borealis and all the other natural beauties the country offers. He wants it to be special, memorable, and personal. Plus, he has the money and won't hesitate to spend extra on you for this occasion.
Tumblr media
Yamada Hizashi
Marriage has been fifty-fifty in Hizashi’s mind. He isn't a stranger to relationships, but something's always held him back, possibly even scared him away from marriage. He knows he's not perfect. He can be loud, sometimes unintentionally annoying, busy with his jobs, unfocused, and just a bit much. There's always an unfocused, lingering fear that his spouse would eventually get fed up with him and leave. Yet, you’ve been together for years. You’ve never given him the impression at all. So, maybe it’s worth it?
He'd like matching wedding bands, and he's the type to never take his off. And because it’s Hizashi, the ring is assuredly flashy. Your bands would be gold with diamond decorations. Your engagement ring is the exceptional one though: diamond buds lay on golden vines with a marquise diamond in the center. Yeah, it's expensive and just a ring, but he loves what it symbolizes and wants you to feel special.
Hizashi is one hundred percent down for the wedding being a grand yet laid-back production. Book the local band or famous DJ you love. Find the fanciest event site you want. Load it with candles and flowers and decorations of your favorite color. Style doesn't matter. He simply wants it to be fun. And he wants you to have fun with it. He hates how wedding planning is always stressful when it should be time for you two to relax and just appreciate one another, regardless if the party is grand or small.
Even if you spent a fair amount on the wedding, he also wants the honeymoon to be lavish. He’s by no means a millionaire, but he does have extra funds for things like this. And besides, this’ll be the only honeymoon you two go on. It should be memorable. He leans more towards cities rather than the typical beach-and-relax destination. Maybe Italy or Spain? He thinks of the architecture and culture, hot-air balloon rides, and winery tours. La dolce vita, y’know?
Tumblr media
Gang Orca
Kugo knew he wanted a family and marriage since his teen years, and that desire has only grown as he has. He sees coworkers and colleagues posting about their anniversaries and children, all the happy couples holding hands and dancing at fancy events, and fathers playing with their children at the park, holding them as they did the monkey bars for the first time. He wants all that. Badly.
When the proposal comes, he nearly drops the tiny box. It isn’t exactly nervousness. It's more that he’s thought about this for a long time and it’s finally time. He’s excited and happy and content and over the moon when you say yes. The ring looks expensive. It’s a vibrant white gold band with an Asscher diamond in the center. Blue sapphires accent it on either side. His ring matches; it’s a simple white gold band with a grooved center for sapphire stones.
He leans more towards a traditional Japanese-style wedding. He wants the sake-sharing ceremony, to present a bouquet and a letter to your parents, and a smaller reception for your immediate loved ones followed by a more lively after-party. And seeing him in his handsome black kimono, haori draped over it, highlighting his shoulders and waist, isn't a bad look either. You can wear a kimono or a dress or something else, though. He wants you to be comfortable and confident in what you're wearing and wouldn't make you wear any specific type of outfit for his sake.
Kugo finds himself enjoying the wedding more than he thought. Well, he knew he'd enjoy it, but he thought he'd be a bit more anxious or all over the place, worrying about food coming on time or if everyone was sitting in their designated seat. Yet, that stuff goes away once it's started. He doesn't need to obsess over other people when you're next to him.
Despite wanting a wedding for so long, Kugo, surprisingly, has put no time into thinking about the honeymoon. Maybe he just never expected the former to happen, so the latter seemed like more of a pipe dream. His job responsibilities don't make the decision any easier.
Depending on the time of year, Kugo might ask for a "smaller" honeymoon directly after the wedding, like a weekend trip to southern Japan at a nice beach house, to hold you over until he can take time off for a more extravagant honeymoon. And even if you insist that the few days on the beach are enough because you just want to be with him, he'll insist that you deserve more. He wants to treat you. It just sucks that life gets in the way sometimes.

dancing randomly
like slow and romantic to soft music
and the way he looks at you <3
he is so utterly in love with you, that he has trouble putting it into words
he likes giving you forehead kisses, but if you give him one, he would melt
like say he's sitting, doing some paperwork
you walk by and stroke his hair and kiss his forehead then tell him you love him
struggles through the rest for the paperwork because of how flushed and love-struck he is
loves waking up and eating with you, or helping you make breakfast
absolutely loves your food
not to mention your baked goods. you bribe him with them sometimes, lol
he really enjoys any type of kisses
but the soft and sweet ones where you cup his face in your hands are his favorite
and hand holding is one of the few acts of PDA he's comfortable with
anything more than a kiss on the cheek will get him all flustered
he loves going on coffee or library dates with you
he gets insecure about is body, and he often wishes that he could stay in his muscle form around you more often
cause he feels like he can protect you more
you always reassure that you love him no matter what and his form doesn't change that
he thinks he doesn't deserve someone as amazing and sweet as you
but whenever he says things like that, you silence him with a kiss and some comforting words
whenever he's had a rough day, he really enjoys drinking tea while cuddling or reading
and when he gets scraped up (but doesn't want to bother recovery girl), you'll clean his wounds for him
he really likes the band-aids that have like hello kitty themes or something like that
they make him feel better and they remind him to enjoy the little things
but overall, dating this man is a lot of the "sweet married couple" stuff mixed in with his inexperience that makes him very easy to fluster
i love him sm

Summary: Request up top!
Warning: Fluff!, Little Angst, Established Relationship, Insecure All might
Tumblr media
You sipped your choice of a morning drink resting on Toshi's desk as he sipped his. "You look very handsome this morning." He looks at you a bit in shock at your compliment, but quickly his face turns red. He did look a bit tired, but amazing.
"Thank you," he says shyly, then holds your hand, giving it a little kiss. Though you could only stay for a good twenty minutes, it was always cozy with him.
It was interrupted by Aizawa entering the room holding papers. You smiled at him as if he were your good friend. "Hey, how's the kids?" He looks up with his tired eyes while setting down the papers. "Good, they have a big test coming up, and I need you to look over these," he says to you, then Toshi.
Toshi nods with a small, forced smile, and Aizawa walks away, leaving you to watch as Toshi grabs the papers and looks at them. "Hey, are you okay?" You ask softly, and he nods, not looking at you. "Toshi tells me what's wrong," touching his arm, "I just feel like you can do better. Love someone better," he says quietly, looking off to the window.
His words shocked you; never did he talk like this or share these feelings with you: "I deserve you and only you. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me." He relaxes at your words and looks up at you.
He smiles warmly. You kiss his lips, you feel his hands, and he pulls you closer. "I love you," he whispers into the kiss. He holds you tighter with your words, but he says a soft "I love you too."

Summary: Ichijiku loves going to the beach and listening to the stories the seagulls tell her, but one evening she sees a stranger being bullied and stands up against his offenders. One spontaneous game of tag, a trip to get ice cream, and some friendly banter later they exchange numbers to keep in touch. As they spend more time together, what sort of secrets will Toshinori and Ichijiku reveal to each other?
Chapter 1: Best of Both Worlds
Ichijiku (Tigress)
Nothing beats the salty brine in the air or the warm crunch of sand underfoot from an evening on the beach. The moon paints a story as it reflects off the waves and the seagulls carry on oral tradition to pass the story along their route. Closing my eyes and listening to the hiss of water trickling into the dry sand helps me relax all my muscles and sigh out today's frustrations.
But there's a sound that disrupts the auditory symphony around me.
"Ew, gross! What the hell are you?" A young voice taunts.
"I'm sorry. I can leave." A tired voice responds.
"You better. You're ruining the scenic view of the beach!"
Normally, I'm not one to get into other peoples' conversations, but after listening to Grandma all day and wondering what this stranger might be going through that he can't even get a break at the beach makes me get up and head towards the only other group of people here.
"Your attitude is ruining the blissful silence." I sass back as I get within hearing range.
There are two blondes, a brunette, and a ginger in my view. All male. You're trying to get killed, aren't you, Ichijiku? No one deserves to be treated less than human. No matter what they look like!
One of the blondes seems to be the victim, because the other three are all wearing smirks and surrounding him. Said victim is tall with a decrepit face and he looks horrified that I've shown up. I can only feel a little tug in my squishy heart for him. He looks a little thin and worse for wear, but that's no reason to call someone ugly or disgusting!
"What are you gonna do about it, sweetheart?" The ginger stands a foot taller than me and seems to think that means I'll cower under him as he towers above me. Not a chance.
"I'm simply here to remind you that this beach is a public space to everyone, not just your massive ego." I purr sweetly, eyes glinting fiercely in the moonlight.
He doesn't appear visibly scared of me - and who would? - but he does shift his weight so he isn't looming over me as much. "Yeah? Well this guy could hardly be considered a person. Have you gotten a good look at him?"
"He's as much human as you and I." I say simply. "Just because you don't like the looks of him doesn't mean anything's wrong with him."
He scoffs, nods, and his two buddies take both of his sides, closing me in.
"Hey, leave her alone." The thin man reaches out, his voice sounding vaguely familiar in his determination and warning tones.
But he really needn't worry.
"Lay off, Pops. We'll be gentle with her." The brunette licks his lips suggestively.
And that's about all he does, because in the next moment I yawn nice and loud. I take a few steps back as all three of them simultaneously flop forward, unconscious and asleep. I step around them and over to the taller man. Taller even than the three goons picking on him. They clearly didn't have any sense of self-preservation.
"Are you okay?" I ask him, tilting my head a bit to look up at him.
"Well, I was going to ask you the same thing, but it appears you had yourself handled." He chuckles, finally meeting my eyes. "I apologize for causing a disturbance."
"I'm not sure why you're apologizing. You didn't do anything." I snort, before looking at the sleeping group of misfits on the ground. I nod towards my stuff further down the beach. "C'mon. Walk with me. You seem like you could use a buddy. I'm Ichijiku."
"Toshinori."
I start the trek towards my beach towel and adventure bag.
"You didn't have to put yourself in danger for my sake, you know." Toshinori says softly.
"Yeah? Tell that to every pro hero who's ever rescued someone." I tease, pausing for a moment a few feet away from my towel to sit in the sand and sift through a little collection of shells. I just need one more. A purple one.
"I guess you've got me there." There's a smirk in his tone and then I feel him shift until he's sitting beside me. "But you could have gotten seriously hurt, and I can take care of myself."
"Of that, I have no doubt." I say for his credit as I toss a blue shell towards the rippling waves. "But no one should be allowed to say such awful things. As someone who grew up in a household like that...sometimes the best advocate is someone who's outside the situation. Stranger or not."
The air is quiet for a time as we both just appreciate the others' presence. I keep tossing out shells until there's none left. Dang. No luck today. I pull my knees up to my chest and just watch the water for some time.
"So, what brought you out to the beach on this fine evening?" I finally ask.
"Mm?" He turns to look at me and I can see reality sinking back into his gaze. "Oh. I just wanted some time to clear my head. I..." He opens his mouth, then closes it. "Nevermind. It's nothing. Suffice it to say that I've been having to come to terms with some distressing news."
"Understandable." I hum softly. "I'm no stranger to distressing news. Is it something you want to talk about or that you need a distraction from?"
"Definitely a distraction." He sighs.
An idea starts forming in my mind. Are you an idiot? He's a stranger! You're taking everything he says at face value. There's no harm in helping him feel better after those people were being so cruel to him. He deserves a break. Indeed. But keep your guard up, just in case. He is still a stranger. I know.
"Well, in that case..." I tap his arm and then jump up to bolt down the beach side. "Tag! You're it!"
I make it maybe thirty feet before I feel a hand tap my shoulder.
"You're it!"
I swat at him again and miss with a little squeal as I slip in the sand. I manage to catch myself before I fall completely and dart right back after him.
"You tall people and your long legs!" I call at his back as I try to pace myself without inducing an asthma attack.
It at least gets a laugh from him. Our impromptu game doesn't last long, but soon we're both panting and giggling in the sand. I'm wheezing, but I pull my inhaler from my bag and give it a few good sprays to manage my mucus-filled airways.
"Oh, hey, sorry. If I'd known you had asthma–"
"You better not say you'd have taken it easy on me, because I'd have punched you straight in the jaw." I laugh, leaning back on my elbows in the sand. "Just because I've got a health condition doesn't make me helpless. It just means I have to find a different way to do the things I enjoy."
He gives me an odd look, his eyes sparkling a bit. I find I enjoy it, as it doesn't look as sad as the expression he wore before our little game.
"So, I've told you about why I was out here...why are you out on the beach alone this evening? You know, aside from being here so you can play tag with strangers." He smiles and I move a little closer to him.
The smile he gets in response doesn't fully reach my eyes. I look into the sand and heave a little sigh.
"I sort of hinted earlier that I grew up in a critical household. Specifically, my grandma was the culprit of that dynamic." I lay all the way back in the sand to look at the stars so I don't feel as lame or pathetic admitting all of this. "You could say that she has to have something to be upset about because nothing ever pleases her. And ever since I was born, I've been the scapegoat for most of that. She called me today to remind me of all my shortcomings, so I needed someplace to relax and clear my head."
Silence stretches between us and the stars. I'm grateful for the comfort I receive from the twinkling lights above me. It's like they're winking at me, telling me that everything is going to be okay. Or like their eyes are glassy with emotions, showing how much they empathize with you. I wonder what tales the stars have of their own. I often wonder too...
"I'm sorry to hear that. I've only known you for the better part of this evening, but based on my experience, it doesn't take long with someone like you to recognize a compassionate heart." Toshinori turns his head to look at me, and I turn to meet his gaze.
"I appreciate that. I've been working on trying to convince myself of that." I chuckle, reaching across the sand to squeeze his hand. I hope that wasn't taken as too intimate of a gesture. I feel like I'm on a date, and all I've done is run around with him and talked. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten so close so quickly. You needed a listening ear, and there's nothing wrong with that. But you are wise to be wary of your emotions.
"Well...take it from an outside party," He winks. "You're more than what you give yourself credit for."
My rumbling tummy promptly ruins the mood.
"Sorry." I flush and sit up. I start rummaging through my adventure bag for a granola bar, but find that I failed to pack anything. "Ugh. Squirrel brain..." I mutter.
"You must be hungry. What have you eaten today? Would you like to grab a bite for dinner? Or do you just need a snack?" Toshinori offers. "It's the least I can do for helping me out back there."
"Just a snack should be fine." I say quickly, not wanting to admit that it will probably be the only thing I've eaten all day. "But you don't have to do that. It really was nothing."
"I insist. Besides, it's not safe for you to be out alone so late. I'm sure you're more than capable, but allow me an act of chivalry." He grins.
I can't help but laugh at that. He's not so bad. I could get used to him. I wonder if I can get his number so we can stay friends. "You're probably right about that. If All Might has to save me one more time, he might start charging me a fee."
There's a knowing smile on his face coupled with his shock that makes me giggle. I figured he might find that amusing!
"All Might? Now, this I've got to hear. What did you do to warrant him saving you? More trouble like tonight?"
"Noooo! The other two times weren't my fault!" I pout up at him. "I actually instigated neither of those situations!"
"Why do I find that hard to believe?"
"Listen, I'm not above pretending to need saving so All Might will come here again so he can prove it to you!" I say in a stern tone, but I'm laughing too much to be taken seriously. "I was a victim of circumstance!"
"What sort of circumstances then?" He asks with a shake of his head as he helps me grab my towel and my bag.
"The first time was in a skating rink. A villain with an ice quirk was messing with the rink as everyone was trying to get off of it. I, being the graceful person I am, kept slipping and ended up trapped in said ice." I snort, leaving out parts of the story.
"Is that so?" He laughs, and I can't look at him because the look on his face makes me feel like he might be able to catch me lying if I stare for too long.
He doesn't need to know that I kept trying to help the other people in the rink. He might think I was stupid for not saving myself...or maybe after tonight it wouldn't be that surprising. Gah! I don't know how to interact with people! Relax. Just keep telling the story.
"Yeah, and All Might showed up shortly after. He managed to help save me from the villain and get him tied up. You can imagine...I was freezing! I didn't even get to thank him properly." I shake my head. "I know that he doesn't save people for all the popularity and stuff, but I still wanted to show him my gratitude. Thankfully, a second villain a few weeks after that decided to snatch me up as a hostage. Since All Might rescued me then, I was able to share my gratitude." I kick a rock out of my path.
"I'm sure he knows you're grateful. He's a busy guy, ya know? He understands."
"Oh, I know. I get that he's a big hero and symbol that everyone takes for granted, but I wanted him to know that I wasn't grateful just because he's a hero. I was thankful because he's heroic, and yes, there's a difference." I stick my tongue out at him.
"The world could use more people with that ideology." Toshinori sighs, looking ahead of us. "Hey, there's an ice cream stand ahead. Want to get some ice cream in remembrance of your skating rink incident?"
"Oooo, yes!" I agree, already picking up my pace. "I'm so ready. I've been craving popsicles lately."
"You don't come to an ice cream stand to get popsicles." He crinkles his nose.
"Oh yeah? And who's gonna stop me?" I giggle, already looking over the menu and deciding on an orange popsicle.
"Listen, with as many times as you've had to be saved, ice cream might be what All Might asks for as payment." Toshinori laughs, placing his order and then stepping aside.
"If ice cream is the only payment the Symbol of Peace wants for saving thousands upon thousands of people...I can't really say much. Because I'd probably do the same. Ice cream is the best." I grin, putting in my order and then turning my bag around so I can start pulling out my wallet.
"It's together." I hear Toshinori say, and then a receipt starts printing out that he takes.
I stand with my mouth agape.
"You sneaky little weasel! I was gonna pay for it! You weren't supposed to do that!"
"Oh yeah? And who's gonna stop me?" He smirks.
I make my most unamused face at him before I can't help cracking a smile. I shake my head.
"All I'm saying is if All Might takes your ice cream, it'll be poetic justice."
"Consider the decision justified, then." He says, taking a bite of his ice cream.
I just roll my eyes and take the popsicle. For the next few moments, we're quiet as we indulge in our sweet treats. I follow him as he leads me down the street, pointing out a few places he frequents.
"You've been to that karaoke bar? I've been there a couple of times with my friends. It's pretty nice! And the snacks are amazing." I comment whenever he points out Shigouraiki Karaoke Bar.
"I was about to say, the snacks are the best part. I'm usually by myself, though." He admits, taking another bite from his Mighty Mix ice cream.
"Well, we'll have to change that. Give me your number and I'll invite you some time. Karaoke's no fun by yourself!" I pull out my phone. When he pulls his out too, I tap the top of my phone against his. "There. Don't mind the weird picture."
Toshinori laughs. It's beginning to feel familiar and warm to make up for the cold popsicle.
"What's with the sassy look? You have a blue gift bow on the top of your head, did someone give you a bad gift?" He teases.
"You had to be there to understand." I giggle, about halfway done with my popsicle now. I find myself slowing down because I don't want to stop talking with him. "My friend Hanayuki was taking pictures of me with the bow on my head, and I thought she was done taking them. So I sent her a sassy look and she betrayed me."
"I'm glad she did. The sass suits you." A dribble of ice cream runs down his fingers and he looks at me. "Mind grabbing my napkin?"
"I gotcha." I take the napkin and dab one hand so he can get the other. "My house is only a few more blocks past this shopping district. And then you'll be free of me."
"The world will soon seem duller, then." The sorrow in his tone sounds genuine. "Do you think we could meet up again, sometime soon?"
"Of course! I might even manage to garner a presence from All Might." I wink.
"I look forward to it."
As we make the final trek to my house, I toss my popsicle stick into the nearest trash receptacle. This shouldn't feel like a date when I've only just met him. But he's so easy to talk to. I grab my keys from my bag before turning to him.
"Thank you for walking me home, Toshinori, I appreciate it."
"It's not a problem. Thank you for the company, Ichijiku." He grins as he looks down at me. "I look forward to seeing you again. This was...certainly the best time I've had hanging out with someone in a while."
"Likewise." I say as I crinkle my nose playfully. "Stay safe tonight."
"I'll be sure to call you if I need saving."
"You'd better!"
. . . . .
Toshinori ends up needing to be saved rather frequently. He calls to invite me to his house, where he needs saving from loneliness. He calls to invite me to the karaoke bar, where he needs saving from discordant music notes. He calls to invite me to dinner, where he needs saving from an empty stomach.
At long last, he calls to invite me to be his girlfriend, where he needs saving from a life without me.
"Aww, Toshi-kun, you could have just asked over dinner." I laugh into the receiver while watering plants.
"I know, but...there were people around and I wasn't sure. I was a little scared, to be honest." I can hear the shyness in his voice.
"Well, I'm glad you asked me at all." I admit, moving on into the warmer fuzzier feelings of being his girlfriend. He makes me so happy. "Now you get to help me go through all of the pet names I've been going over in my head. How does schnookums sound?"
"Like a disease."
"Agreed. I hate it. Next one. How are we feeling about darling?"
"It's not bad. I don't know that it fits me."
"Perhaps I'll reserve it for when I'm feeling fanciful. What are your thoughts on honey bunches of oats?"
"Like the cereal? I already feel fragile. I don't want to feel old too." He chuckles.
"That's fair." I reach down to pet my cat as I think up another. "Do you have any objections to lover boy?"
"Mm, it has potential."
"My thoughts exactly, lover boy." I blow a kiss over the receiver. "The others will have to wait, though, because it's just occurred to me that I'm all out of green yarn. And that, my dear, simply will not do."
"My dear has a nice ring to it." He says. "But I'll let you go then. Be safe. Don't talk to strangers."
"Now, Toshinori, when have I ever spoken to strangers?" I ask, grabbing my bag and keys and heading out the door.
"I happen to recall this one night on the beach..."
"Oh dear..."
"And you ran into this tall, decrepit man getting bullied by three strangers..."
"Will you never let me live it down, beloved?"
"Oh! I like that one."
"Yeah, me too." I smile. "But bye-bye, foreels this time. I have to drive."
"Okay, stay safe."
"I will."
For the next thirty minutes, I follow up on my promise. I drive safe, make it to the hobby store safely, and start perusing the yarn section with caution. I manage to grab maybe three skeins of yarn before the shelves rattle dangerously. I notice the other shelves starting to collapse and rush to the end of the aisle to get out of the way, but I don't completely make it.
Pain ripples through my lower back and legs as the shelf catches my back end. Thankfully, my top half is unmarred and able to look around. Lo and behold, a villain starts walking from the back of the store with a gleaming grin on his face. Are you kidding me? A third time?! You'd think they had a radar for when to ruin my day.
"All of you were unsuspecting, right? No one thought the clerk up front could be a villain. That's the problem with society. Everyone thinks evil has the same face!" He roars, kicking another shelf over. It dominoes into the others across from me as I cover my head.
Screams cut across the store as I grit my teeth and try to move once the rumbling fades. Come on, gotta get out! Other people could get hurt! I manage to wiggle a bit, but another wave of searing heat grips my calf, and I know I shouldn't move anymore.
A hand grips my chin tightly as the villain makes me look up at him. I glare at him with all the tiger in my body.
"How does it feel knowing no one will save you?" He whispers to me.
"How does it feel knowing no one will listen to you?" I growl back.
"How does it feel knowing I am here!" A thunderous clap resounds through the store as All Might stomps his foot on the ground.
I don't even blink before a punch sends the villain hurdling back away from me. Relief floods my bones so quickly I feel tears prickling in my eyes. A cacophony of thoughts swirl in my head while the fight ensues. Everything from cheering him on to win the fight to jokingly wondering if I can get him to meet Toshinori and wondering if he'll want ice cream as payment for his services. My brain isn't fully there.
But All Might is fully there, and that's quite literally the only thing keeping me alive.
Once the sound of police sirens accompanies the lack of fighting, I watch All Might hand off the villain to the police. A rescue team makes eye contact with me and one of the men voices my predicament.
"Someone's trapped under that shelf!" He gapes.
"You guys help the others and point out anyone else who needs my help. I'll start with helping this young woman." All Might responds, and in another moment, I'm once again face-to-face with the Symbol of Peace. "I've been seeing you around a lot, young lady." He grunts as he starts lifting both yarn shelves to keep one from collapsing into the other on top of me.
His eyes glisten with mischief as he looks down on me. I can see the blue in his eyes. That blue looks so familiar... I think, before I catch his expression and I understand. Toshinori...
"You're..." I whimper as I begin dragging myself free. "...going to have to start charging me an ice cream fee...with how often you have to save me."
Once I'm free of the shelves, All Might sets them down and turns back to me. His eyes give him away. That soft expression and even his iconic smile tilts up in a way now so familiar to me. He cradles me delicately, perhaps a bit intimately given the secret we both know I've uncovered, before he sets me down in an ambulance outside.
"You..." He opens his mouth and pauses, shaking his head. "I know you must think..." Another pause. "I want to explain..." His face looks so worried and awkward and scared, before he turns as a police officer calls for help from inside the store. His signature smile returns. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you. But I have to go help them." And then he disappears.
I'm crying by the time the EMT reaches me.
Once it's all said and done, my minor wounds are dressed and I'm advised to take it easy on my leg.
"If you have a friend who can take you home now, I'd advise giving them a call. Otherwise, we'll have to find someone to take you home, and it may be a while." The man informs me, but I don't fully hear him.
The world around me swims by in a murky grey as I try to make sense of everything that's just transpired. It's not that any of it is bad, it's just that a lot has happened. A few more tears trickle down my cheeks as I just nod and pull out my phone. It sustained minimal damage thanks to my screen protector and padded buttcheeks.
I scroll to Toshinori and feel my heart ache. He's the only one I want to take me home but...
"I can take it from here." All Might's voice interrupts.
The EMT looks up at him like he's just won the lottery. I look up at him like I'm seeing a ghost.
"O-Of course! Sh-She needs..."
"To get home, so I heard. I don't mind giving the wounded woman a lift!" He says with a smile, before offering his hand. "Ma'am, if you can give me your address, I can get you there safely."
I utter the proper address before he tucks me in his chest again and we're flying. The heights make my tummy swim with butterflies. I don't say anything as the world passes by us.
"I'm sorry again, Ichichan, that I didn't tell you." He says, his voice just a bit louder to make himself heard over the wind. "I can understand if you're upset."
"I-It's not that." I admit, closing my eyes as I try to decipher how I'm feeling. "It's just a lot to process. But it also worries me."
"What do you mean?"
"When you're..." I want to say Toshinori, but it doesn't feel right, because I know he's the same no matter his form. So I use a different nickname. "When you're Smol Might...I already worry that I don't deserve you. You're so kind and sweet, and more than I deserve, really. But...knowing that you're also All Might...it makes me feel even less deserving. You've helped a lot of people and done so much good. I don't really see how you could consider me worth a second glance in either scenario."
All is quiet until we reach my house. Toshinori has to give the door an extra shove since my bag was lost under the shelves in the hobby store, and then we make it inside where he sets me down. Steam starts hissing around him until he exhales and coughs, a splash of blood decorating his hand. He wipes it off on his costume, now three times too big.
He kneels by the couch and cups my face, eyes shining their perfect blue.
"You deserve so much more than me." He breathes, thumb rubbing over my skin. I hold his hand there, enjoying the intimacy. "Even with all I've done as a Symbol, you deserve more. And I mean that."
My little frame rattles as I hug his arm.
"You...You won't leave me?"
"No, Ichichan," He promises, leaning in and making my lips tingle with our first, perfect kiss. "I am here."

I love Yagi Toshinori so much so it pains me when I hear people talk shit about him.
He's such a tragic character that people put on a pedestral and when he makes a mistake, people say he should know better.
Like, when he got Izuku help too late. And yeah, he should have but let's remember that at that time, he had one friend because he cut off other people.
Some might say he himself should have taught Midoriya how to use OFA but it was said Yagi was a NATURAL, and usually, people like that have trouble teaching others. I myself do. English always came easily to me but when others asked for my help, I never could explain it to them. "I just do it" "I hear how it sounds, and when it sounds normal, it's probably that" I always say. And that's how Yagi's "Clench your buttcheeks and yell smash!" Sounds like.
Also, it's like 100% possible that he thought other, PROFESIONAL teachers would help his student! They know what to do while he doesnt!
Plus, Yagi kind of a hermit.
He became a "hero" super young, we know shit about his parents, his life before Nana and Gran. During his whole life he has had... three friends? David, Sir and Tsukauchi. And that's it. Nana, Gran were his teachera, Melissa is his niece. And that's it.
Someone should wrap this man in a blanket and watch old hero movies with him...
(I could talk more, like how it was fucked up when he was kind of abandoned by his friends because he wouldn't listen to them about retirement. Yes, tell a man whose entire life centered about heroics to quit it. Yes. )
All Might is someone who isn't perfect but he doesn't deserve the bashing he gets in the fandom. The whole deal about him is that despite being the Symbol of Peace, he also happens to be human and has flaws that are clearly exposed but on which he works.
Your comment about how Toshinori probably expected Izuku's teachers does make sense considering that a hour with Gran Torino was what it took for Izuku to start learning about Full Cowl. There is also the fact that OFA is one of a kind quirk, a ninth-generation-quirk long past quirk transcendence since it stockpiled a ton of energy while in All Might, so he had no way to know how the quirk would react with Izuku. I feel that people tend to forget All Might and Izuku received very different versions of OFA.

What is your honest opinion of All Might (Toshinori Yagi)? I know he's not the best teacher, but I think it's unfair the way the fandom treats him.
I've talked about him a few times on this blog but never went into what my genuine thoughts are, so this post will be here for that.
In truth, All Might definitely deserves better in both the series AND the fandom.
As we all know the logic in this fandom is that if you're hot, you can get away with pretty much anything. But since All Might isn't considered attractive, he receives unnecessary hatred for something he already made up for.
Has he fucked up in some places? Yes.
Has he apologized and made up for said mistakes? He has.
But the fandom doesn't see it that way.
They ALWAYS to making All Might into either a bumbling idiot who doesn't know anything, or a quirkist asshole just to make Aizawa look better.
All Might, you don't deserve this, let's at least hope Hori will give you some dignity for the next upcoming chapters...

I Want To Talk About Gran Torino
Gran Torino is an interesting character (like the majority of MHA's characters) that I believe has been let down by bad writing. Keep in mind that this is 100% my opinion, and you don't have to take it at face value.
So Gran Torino was All Might's other mentor in addition to Nana. Because All Might had instantly mastered using OFA after receiving it from Nana, Gran Torino focused on combat training with All Might, going so hard with him that it made All Might scared of him even years down the line.
Years later, Gran Torino requests that Izuku intern with him because he hates how All Might's been teaching him. From what we've seen in the Stain Arc, he's softer (I guess?) on Izuku than he was towards All Might. Sure, Gran Torino didn't treat Izuku with kid gloves either, but he didn't invoke the fear of God in him either.
For the meat of this post, I want to talk about how Gran Torino tries and fails to be the older, experienced mentor of the story. Specifically, I want to talk about how to me, it seems like he hates All Might, or at the very least doesn't like him.
I don't mind that he criticized All Might's teaching skills because they could definitely use some improvement. However, not ONCE does he ever offer any advice on how to improve them. All he does is criticize, criticize, criticize. And then he has the nerve to wonder why All Might never writes, calls, or visits? Hell, All Might was EXTREMELY reluctant to even send Izuku in his direction.
Then he does something that I don't think gets talked about enough: he speaks glowingly and highly of Sir Nighteye.
Now, I'm not sure if he knew about the extent of how Sir Nighteye disrespectfully treated All Might, but he was definitely there when he was trying to force All Might to retire. While I do agree with where Nighteye was coming from, that is NOT his decision to make. Sir Nighteye treats All Might as a possession rather than a person (keep in mind that he wore All Might down into accepting him as his sidekick), and to essentially see Gran Torino praising that... the implications aren't good.
It would have been one thing if we got more moments where we see that Gran Torino really cares. We could have seen him stand up to Nighteye on how he can't make all of All Might's decisions for him. We could have seen him choosing to treat Izuku the way he does because he's come to regret how he treated All Might (a la Jay, Manny, and Mitchell in Modern Family). We could have gotten some funny awkwardness as they try properly bonding with one another. That would have made things interesting, but nope.
Instead, we get another wasted character and yet another instance of All Might getting shitted on by the narrative 🙃.

wip - sensate/time travel/fix-it fusion that was supposed to be for OFA-tober but I’m a procrastinating fool who left it to woolgather
ft. Yoichi’s POV, implied duoholders, and a justifiably angry Shimura
//
“I’m sorry,” Yoichi offers, guiltily. He sits next to Shimura and breathes the salt-tinged air. Before them is an empty bay, not yet filled with the foundation that would become Tartarus—or is it Ekusegoru that Shimura is thinking of? The hollow false island, built exclusively to lure and trap Seventh Wonder.
Most of the holders of One for All had been taller than Yoichi, and the sole woman of the group is no exception. Today, though, her stature is bent forward in grief. Her hair hides her face, but her cape can’t disguise the tremors wracking her shoulders.
Yoichi thinks about patting her shoulder.
“What do you have to be sorry for?” Nana returns. The ragged voice causes Yoichi to wince. “We’re alive. We’re powerful. We can end your brother’s reign of terror before the century-long hunt begins. What do you have to be sorry for?”
The flash of rage garners attention; the hairs on the back of Yoichi’s neck rise as several presences take notice of the Seventh’s anger.
“Just because we can stop him now doesn’t erase the fact that we failed to stop him in the future. Your grandson—”
“No longer exists!”
“I know.”
Nana pushes herself off the pier, Floats and pivots mid-air, glaring at Yoichi with red-rimmed eyes. He tries to hold her gaze but can’t. If there is truly anyone who deserves to lash out, it will be the Seventh and her legacies. This trip to the past is permanent. It means a chance to do better for him, and Kenji and Sanjuro—it means a chance to really fight back against All for One for Shinomori, Banjo, and En—but for the last holders?
“My family,” she says. “My choices. I had a hand in that mess, and I needed to make it right. Coming back, like it never happened…?”
Toshinori’s forty years, dedicated to a future that no longer exists. Izuku’s family, his many friends—the boy won’t appreciate having lost those.
“There is no guarantee that we can go back.”
“No,” he agrees.
Her face twists, as though she’d hoped for a different answer. Her yellow gloved hands flex and tighten into fists, and all of a sudden, Yoichi smells engine grease and gun oil. Kenji’s voice rings out like a warning.
“Control yourself,” says Kenji.
“This is me controlling myself,” Shimura seethes. “Where’s your base of operations, anyway? I want in on the raid.”
“All for One did not show up the last time. We have no proof that he will this time, either.”
“Your location.”
“Our priority is rescuing Yoichi,” he snaps, and it’s still a rush of relief to hear Kenji say it so plainly.
“Of course it is,” she responds. Irritation, frustration—these are two personalities that rarely exchanged words in the vestige realm. They don’t know each other, even though they remained in the same space. Yoichi doesn’t know how to facilitate a productive group meeting. If he pulls Yagi and Izuku here, will they persuade their predecessor to be calm or reflect her rage? Wouldn’t they be right to?
Behind him, and across their connection, Kenji bristles.
“Save the fighting for later,” Yoichi says. “Kenji, tell Shimura-san how to get home. I mean. To the hideout.” He can feel his face going warm in the chill of the vault, cooled by the phantom sensation of a seaside breeze. Shimura eyes him judgmentally. “You may as well tell them all.”
“Have you tried keeping anything from this group yet?” Kenji grouses. “Fucking impossible.”

I have my problems with Rei and Inko, but at least they owned up to the not good things they did to their kids (maiming Shoto, not being supportive of Izuku) and made an effort to do better by them. I wholeheartedly agree that Inko was in the right not to want Izuku to continue at UA. What sane parent would ever want to see their kid go through FOUR villain attacks in the span of THREE MONTHS and repeatedly break his bones while receiving little to no help from their teachers?
A lot of fans just really hate characters who own up to their mistakes and make an actual effort to atone for them - All Might and Inko probably being the biggest ones. Write however and whatever the hell you want, but these portrayals of them as idiotic, abusive monsters has seeped into how many canonically see them.
Nah cause the fandom got me fucked up on AO3 for how they treat Inko and All Might, don't even get me started✋🏾
You know I've seen some people call All Might a groomer? Like?? And then there's the one who will have Inko straight up abandon Izuku to live on his own because he's quirkless. It's actually sick

12 afohiko 😳👉👈?
for you,,, i'll krakenverse it
“You’re cute even when you make that face.”
Sorahiko looked away, avoiding the other's eyes.
Which was something of a feat, considering how ridiculously large he'd made himself, as if he wasn't tall enough in his normal form.
The thought that this was his normal form now, hundreds of years after the last time they'd seen each other, was a bitter one.
He might not be as bad as Motoji, but he didn't love change either.
Perhaps if he'd minded it more, he wouldn't have been recognized.
Probably not though. Birds did not age so visibly to one that dwelt under the sea, it was a lost cause as soon as the Kraken had seen the shadow of his otherself.
And now Sorahiko was stranded on a rock that didn't deserve to be called an island, Motoji curled comfortably around it, watching him while his otherself could do nothing but circle above and wait to strike.
"Are you going to keep giving me the silent treatment?" The Kraken asked. "Because I've had enough not hearing from you- several life time's worth, in fact."
"Are you going to keep staring?" Sorahiko asked.
"Of course. My memory- it fades after so long. To see you in person again, it's-"
Whatever it was, Sorahiko didn't care.
"Can't be that great." He still wasn't looking at Motoji. "I'm old, much as you've managed to avoid it."
"You're adorable!" Motoji protested.
Adorable. Sorahiko should have stayed in Todoroki's lands, even if it meant putting up with that family. At least none of them were crazy or stupid enough to call him adorable.
"You're even shorter than I remember, and you're cute even when you make that face!"
"What face is that?" If Sorahiko looked a few degrees more to the right, he'd be able to see the coastline from here. He wouldn't do it though, wouldn't point the Kraken back in that direction.
"The one where you're pouting just a bit, but don't want to admit it because it's something you did." Motoji sounded far too happy and fond. It was almost saccharine.
"Something I did? Funny, I remember you leaving because you didn't want to stay on land, then I heard nothing except that you murdered your father, outdid him, then got married and murdered her too."
"You can't get mad at me for that when I offered a way-" Motoji stopped, then twisted so he was in front of Sorahiko's face again. He didn't bother looking away this time. "Sorahiko. I- the marriage wasn't like that. I didn't love her."
Sorahiko blinked, then blinked again. "Well, I should hope so. Considering you murdered her too."
"She betrayed me first." The Kraken waved it off.
"Was that before or after you tried to purse another woman, who was also married at that time, and someone who knew your wife? Or is it a blur because you killed her too?"
"That's not- you don't know what really happened. I never loved anyone but you like that."
"The. Mur. Ders." Sorahiko enunciated. And he hadn't even mentioned Nana's name yet!
"They betrayed me first!"
"I'd betray you if you married me when you didn't love me, then pursued my friend anyway!"
"You wouldn't." Motoji huffed. "Because you'd refuse to marry me anyway!"
"And from where I'm looking that's a good thing. You realize none of this would have happened if you'd just stayed on land in the first place."
"That wasn't an option. But now, things are different. Better, once I bring you both back, you'll see."
Sorahiko shook his head. "No. It's too late for that."
"We're both immortal, Sorahiko. It's never too late."
"I have bonds tying me to the surface. I can't go down, I don't want to go down, and I never intend to go down."
Motoji heaved a sigh. "You'll see, one day. It's splendor that deserves your touch... In the meantime though, I suppose I could always take over Yagi's castle. It's a bit ugly and squat, but it manages for both land and sea for now."
Was he even hearing himself?
"I'm not moving in with you into Toshinori's castle."
"You're being very obstinate about this when I'm trying to compromise here, Darling."
Even the use of that, after so long, couldn't trip Sorahiko up now.
"The castle that Toshinori built, for his wife, whom you tried to pursue then murdered!"
"Oh, that? She couldn't hold a candle to you, don't worry. You probably would have laughed if you'd ever met her."
"I did get to meet her, actually." He tried not to remember how wide both she and Toshinori had smiled back then. Sorahiko really hoped Tamaki, Mirio, and all the others had gotten a good head start, because he could only stand so much more of this sole attention.

I’ve been seeing these and decided what the hell? Keep in mind all of these are personal opinions and subjective to change.
Also, keep in mind that while I am in the process of re-reading the manga, I cannot recall every detail off the top of my head, I could be wrong at points. These are just brain dumps, so take everything with a grain of salt.
Also, no order for these.
Adore:
Hizashi Yamada- I really love Hizashi and connect to him on quite a few levels. He’s a super loyal friend and is very intelligent. I like that he’s not all forgiving like the rest of the main cast and is the only one willing to bring up tough issues. I even like that he’s so passive, as it's unique inner conflict for male characters. (Shame we don’t get to see him overcome it, or how much it affects his life.) He’s not a pure ball of sunshine, but he’s a kind cloak of moonlight that I adore.
Aizawa Shouta- I don’t usually like broody boys, but I like quiet ones with an air of mystery and strength. I really like his protective nature as well as his dadzawa moments. He’s also a fun foil to the wild energy around him. It’s also really neat that despite having a cool quirk, Aizawa has to work to overcome his weaknesses by using a creative support item and just working hard.
Toshinori Yagi- Unlike Hizashi, All Might really is a sweet, pure, and genuine ball of sunlight. He is a giant teddy bear that I just want to hug and squeeze. And his scenes with Izuku are the best! I love what Hori did with his character. He’s strong, smart, and an all-around golden boy, but isn’t perfect and makes a lot of mistakes. However, instead of ignoring them he acknowledges his mistakes and uses them to grow and do better. I really love Hori is showing that while All Might can’t be a hero anymore, his life isn’t over and still has meaning.
Tsuyu Asui- My favorite Class 1-A girl. I like that she’s a sweet, friendly girl who is empathetic to those around her, but knows when to use her head. I like that she’s a lawful good character and is willing to call out even her friends for thinking they should break the law and place themselves in danger because of their personal feelings. That being said, she isn’t heartless, far from it. Among the cast, she seems to be the most empathetic right along with Todoroki. (She’s also the one I like the most with Dadzawa.)
Nemuri Kayama- A lot of people are turned off by her “ahem” personality but I don’t mind it. I like female characters who aren’t afraid of their sexual nature—as long as they don’t force it on others. I really like her character in Vigilantes where she’s a sweet woman who tries to help others and is a good friend to Aizawa. I do think she’s underused, however, especially since they decided to kill her off in the main story and try to play it for high drama.
Highly Like:
Izuku Midoriya- I love Izuku! He’s a sweet little angel who deserves better than he gets. The only reason he’s not higher is that he gets pushed to the background as the series goes on. Thus, we’re not allowed to see his internal conflict very often. Plus, the manga completely tossed out a core part of his character arc, which really hurt his development. Despite that, I do like Izuku a lot. I especially like his past with Bakagou. (Not in the way BakaDeku stans do.) I liked the fact he was bullied and hurt, but despite the world being against him, Izuku remained a sweet soul who did everything to protect others. Izuku’s past was a great setup for character development and an arc. Sadly, for whatever reason, we didn’t get to fully explore it.
Toru Hagakure- While I am very fond of Toru, it’s mostly the concept and potential of her character that I like more than anything she does as she’s very underused. That being said, the concept of her character is very appealing to me and I like what little we see of her. She’s a good fanfic character for me. (I want to write a story focusing on her but I have so many plot bunnies! >x<) I’m not too crazy about her ship with Ojiro though. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing bad about it and there are a lot of good things about it, but it gets zero emotions from me. Like, it’s there, but that’s it. I think it’s because even though they’re together they rarely interact. Sorry, this ship just isn't for me.
Knuckle Duster- It’s a shame he left so early as he was a very interesting character. His backstory was interesting and I like that despite not having a quirk or a license he became a hero just to save his daughter. And I like how he handled Stain.
Makoto Tsukauchi- A woman very good at managing things even in emergencies. I love how in control she usually is and how she reins Captain Sunshine in and helps him become a better hero. Plus, her relationship with her brother feels very real. They may be at odds but they still love and respect each other.
Fat Gum- He’s a funny character and I like his interactions with other characters. (Especially Tamaki and the Crab lady.) I really liked him in Vigilantes.
Queen Bee- The bee Quirk was very interesting and I love how it was utilized. It was an awesome concept for a villain and while the manga didn’t go as far as it could, the length it did go was interesting. The idea of using bees to make people lose control of their quirks was interesting. Tamao was—okay, but we don’t get to see her much as a person to judge. Queen Bee is a very scary villain.
Six- Honestly, I think Six would have been a better antagonist for Izuku (more on that—eventually). As is, Six is a cool villain with hella potential. True, he whines at times like Shiggy but he also does stuff and works for what he wants and doesn’t just demand everything. (True, he uses horrible tactics and throws massive tantrums when he fails, but still.) Plus, he just feels more natural and less forced in his actions.
Tenya Ida- I always have fun when I see him. He’s so straightforward, innocent, and hard-working. And I like that he tries to protect Izuku from Bakagou by placing himself between the two often. His serious nature is good for comedy as well. (I especially like him with Mei.) He just reminds me of a little brother who tries to help out by taking care of his family, despite being the youngest.
Ochako Uraraka- She’s cute and I like that she has a sweet connection with her family. Though I’ll admit I like her better before she tried apologizing to Tago in later chapters (I know, I know. Petty.). Like, baby; you did nothing wrong. All you told her was that if she hurt people, she had to be held accountable. And this was AFTER spending hours digging out injured people (and possibly dead bodies). I also love her costume design! I think it's adorable.
Mei Hatsume- Mei is a very fun girl and I love her energy and her passion as an inventor. There’s also something appealing about her ambition and manipulative nature. She wants to be a famed inventor and will use whatever tricks she has to and isn’t ashamed of it.
Inko Midoriya- I love that Inko isn’t a plucky anime girl, but a sweet, shy woman who is kind. And despite not being very strong emotionally or physically, she still called out All Might and U.A. as a whole for her son’s safety. I also like both her chubby and thin design. I think both are equally cute. However, her chubby design is unique as it’s cute, not played for jokes, and her assets aren’t exaggerated. She’s round like an egg and I like that. (She reminds me of a pangolin, though.)
Mirio Togata- He’s a mini-me done right. Unlike Shinsou who is basically diet Aizawa personality wise, Mirio may share traits with All Might, however, he is very much his own person. Mirio is a sweet senpai and I love how he can inspire others. And I’ll admit that his scenes with Eri are so sweet, I can actually stand seeing her when she’s with him. He is a good friend, a good hero, and a great big brother figure.
Tamaki Amajiki- Anxiety-filled, but I like his perception skills, his interactions with others, and how he still tries his best. He’s also just a sweet little elf.
Like:
Detective Tsukauchi- This is all thanks to his vigilante persona, otherwise he’d slip under the radar. He plays the everyday man very well.
Eijiro Kirishima- Eijiro is a sweet ball of sunshine and I like the idea of him turning Bakagou into decent person. (Shame he doesn’t do so, but that’s a topic for another day.) He a genuinely good guy who cares about others. What’s not to like?
Shoto Todoroki- I like his arc and his personality after Izuku helps him, but after that, he pretty much stays the same. However, I hate his hero costumes. He needs a better designer.
Momo Yoayorozu- I like that she’s an intelligent ingenue and they set up a decent arc with her, but it was barely focused on and solved too quickly. That being said she’s sweet and cute.
Neito Monoma- He’s fun and smart. I think he gets too much hatred. Usually, I hate arrogant characters but it works with him as he is always called out and his mean-spirited actions are not only not rewarded, but punished. It also helps that while he’s a bully to Class A, he’s sweet to his classmates. Plus his design is really cute.
All For One- So, he is between like and dislike. I like him because he’s the only one the manga isn’t going, “look I know he did bad things, but you have to understand; he was sad.” Plus, as a villain, he is actually kind of fun. Less so lately, but still. Anyway, I just love cunning villains with an elegant nature and a cocky attitude that makes their defeat all the sweeter. There’s also something else that draws me to him as a villain that I can’t quite identify. (I don’t like his “human” design, however. Dunno why just don’t.)
That being said, I don’t like him currently as he’s one of the reasons the manga is dragging on. Plus, I think that his plan with Shigaraki was overly complicated and kinda pointless. If he wanted to hurt All Might, he should have turned Nana into a Nomu and if he wanted a new body, the doctor could have crafted a specially made body. I dunno, I probably missing something. I know his interest in Shiggy seems to come from Shiggy’s hatred, but he cultivated that. And didn’t Shiggy forget his past before he got his muscle-up makeover? So he didn’t hate anything, he was just teenage angry. And why would AFO let Shiggy forget his past if that’s where most of his anger comes from? Okay, cards on the table I read the chapters focusing on Shiggy once, so I’m probably missing a hell of a lot.
The point being, I think AFO makes things more complicated than he needs to on himself. Still like him better than the rest of the villains.
Neural like:
Nezu- I like what we see and again, he has potential that was unexplored. (He was way too eager to crush his students though.)
Mineta Minoru- Like everyone I hate his perviness and the lack of punishment. (I feel that if you have to have an anime pervert their actions need to be extremely exaggerated and the reactions to those actions should be Tom and Jerry level violence.)
However, I like Mineta’s inner conflict and his personality can be entertaining—again, outside his pervy traits. Personally, I think he had potential to improve and that he’s over-hated.
Mt. Lady- I love her design and how unapologetic she is for fame and I like that she knows when to set her goals aside and help people.
Star and Stripes- We didn’t get to see a lot of her, but I like her concept and wouldn’t mind reading about her in a fanfic where she’s All Might’s adopted daughter and a big sister to Izuku.
Dislike:
Shinsou- Shinsou is a character that is right between irksome and dislike. His personality doesn’t appeal to me as he feels like diet Aizawa with Bakagou’s arrogance and Shoto’s monotone. Plus it REALLY annoys me that canon and fanon try to claim that he was discriminated against for having a villainous quirk, but we never see any proof of that, far from it. Everyone admires Shinsou and his quirk, the only one who gets worshiped more than him is Bakagou. He reminds me of Goob from “Meet the Robinsons.” This might be a result of his high insecurity and that he hates himself so much he can't tell how others really feel, but if that's the case it's not explored enough.
There’s also the fact that fans want to force him into everything with Aizawa and personally, I thought the relationship was okay at best. (This, of course, is petty of me and this is NOT me telling Shinsou fans they shouldn’t do this, it’s just something that annoys me personally.) For more info--search Shinsou critical on my page.
Twice- I feel bad for his past and how he dies, but other than that I do not care about him. And while I’ll probably get hate for this, Twice brought a lot of his troubles on himself. No, he didn’t deserve to be fired or to get a mark on his record, but he didn’t even try to get a job after he was fired. He just went straight to using his clones to commit criminal acts and then treated said clones like slaves till they rebelled. The latter I don’t blame him for as he had no idea each clone was sentient but I do blame him for the criminal acts he committed with his clones before that and all the acts he did with the LoV. Speaking of which, for someone who was supposed to be the heart of the villains but he has zero issues going to a camp to essentially murder children.
Irksome:
Eri- This is through no fault of her own, she just made of a bunch of tropes I hate personally, which summarized are; The overly tragic backstory, the power breaker powers, being forced into the story when there’s no need, no personality outside of being a sad woobie child / broken bird, and the Frozen effect. Again, none of this is her fault, it’s just a bunch of meta tropes I can’t stand and the only thing I like about her is that she has a cute design and her relationship with Mirio. For more information search Eri critical on my page.
Bakagou- If his writing was handled better I’d actually like Bakagou better, but as is it’s annoying how the manga treats him. He’s an arrogant brat who is never called out for being arrogant, just yells at everybody, and is stated to have the potential to be a hero when all he is is a good brawler and hurts more people than he helps. Plus, he tends to be forced into parts of the story where he’s not needed. And then there’s just the bullshit around him. I don’t care if you’re a Bakustan, you have to admit that the stuff in chapters 364-365 is insane even for a story about superheroes. (Search your feelings, you know this to be true!)
Dabi- I like his design and backstory, but other than that—we go up and down and around. I might feel better about him after I get some space, but for now, I just find him annoying.
Ugh!:
Shigaraki- A boring villain with an annoying personality. Honestly, he should have just been the first boss, then tossed aside in my opinion. Plus, like Eri, he is made up of meta tropes I really, REALLY hate. And, YMMV, his whole involvement in the story feels forced at times. The whole reason he’s the main antagonist is that he’s the grandson of All Might’s mentor which give a (space balls ref) vibe, ya know? Plus, for a guy who a world who wants to do whatever he wants there’s nothing he really seems to want. He has no goals except the ones AFO gives him and no real desires. Tago wants to do whatever she wants as well, but we know what she wants; to be accepted for who she is and drink all the blood she wants regardless of the consent issue or whether she kills someone.
To be fair, I believe that’s the point of his character but still. That all his desires are AFO who is taking him over, but they did that plot better with Six. Again, I believe Six would have been a better villain for the main manga and Shiggy should have been in Vigilantes as ironically Shiggy is a better contrast to Koichi. (More on that eventually.) As is, Shiggy and I don’t click and I find his personality annoying as hell.
Himiko Tago- Again, I feel bad that she never got the quirk therapy she needed but that doesn’t change the fact she is a self-absorbed terrorist who knew her action was wrong but did them anyway. I could forgive the first time she killed as that was a moment of passion after years of suppressing herself, and maybe even the second time, but after thirteen kills, she knew exactly what her actions were doing. Plus, it annoys me that she states that draining people of their blood and becoming them is how she shows she cares. Okay, so then why does she change back? Is there a time limit on her quirk? Plus, she talks about the people she “loves” so I guess her love was flimsy.
But what really sealed the deal was that she was staring at the consequences of her actions, seeing a city destroyed, people injured and dying, and hell, she even lost her friend, and yet her main focus was on herself. Then when she went to Ochako she wanted the poor girl to feel bad for her despite the fact
a) Ochako had spent hours trying to save people who were hurt and dying
b) Togo just her how she used Ochako’s quirk to murder someone
c)TAGO WAS PART OF THE REASON PEOPLE WERE HURT AND DYING!!
And yet despite All that, Ochako wasn’t even trying to hurt her! She called Tago out for her deeds and told her she had to accept the consequences of what she did. How fucking dare she?
Overhaul- I’ll keep it short as I don’t want to talk about him. I hated what he did to Eri and wish she rewound him out of existence. The only thing I liked about him was that he managed to knock Shiggy down a peg (before he lost his arms to him). Then when he came back, he was just pathetic. All in all, I hate him. End of story.
