Escapism Ch. 2
The carriage ride was bumpy as all carriage rides seem to be in London. Cordelia pushed the curtain back to glance outside at the passing street. The sky was grey with clouds, much like Cordelia's own thoughts.
She shivered.
She knows she has no real right to be upset with James, their emgamemt is a sham and he doesn't truly love her, not in the way he loves Grace but it still hurts. She did truly believe him when he had promised to be faithful. A bitter chuckle catches in her throat. But she supposed that to was another thinly veiled sham.
She was startled out of her thoughts by the feeling of heavy wool settling on her shoulders. She turned to see Matthew fiddiling with the fabric on the upholstery. He looked straight ahead, his expression hidden by the shadows of the evening sun.
"You seemed cold, you don't have a wrap or anything and it's getting late".
Anna watched them thoughtfully from her seat. She leaned forward resting her elbows on her spread knees and bringing her hands up to below her chin.
"Oh I just can't wait to see how this delightful night enfolds".
---
Matthew would be boldface lying if he said he wasn't deeply worried. Cordelia was meant to be the grounded, level headed girl of his secret desires, close enough to admire but never venturing too far into his own world. It was easier to bear that way. But here she was, thoughtful and determined not on battle strategy or word play but leisure and temptation. She wanted to see the world he loved and resided in with no alternative motive of mockery or investigation.
He expected this behavior from James or Lucie, Herondales were always known to throw themselves headlong into riské situations. From Christopher who perhaps had absentmindedly wandered into a world of magic like Alice in Wonderland. Even sooner from Thomas who had a silent appreciation for the mundane art of the world. But yet again Matthew had underestimated Cordelia and her range of emotion and action. Her heart seemed to flutter like a moth near an oil lamp, refusing to be pinned down by the wings.
But most of all Matthew wanted to help her. He could never help himself and it occured to him that he may be in the unique position to help someone else. Not only help them but guide them into a world he so loved. The thought excited him, walking Cordelia into the Hell Ruelle and introducing her to all his favorite corners and mates. Perhaps maybe she would want more of the world after tonight. He could show her all his favorite haunts of London, a satue garden or even take her to a Mundane theatre to see a production of The Importance of Being Earnest. Matthew cut his thoughts off there. It was not his place to be courting his parabatai's soon to be wife no matter the circumstance of their emgamemt. He was simply here to protect Cordelia from any harm that may come to her tonight as any good upstanding Parabatai would do for their blood brothers partner. This was soley a mission of protection and honor. But even as Matthew absentmindedly reached for his flask and took a glance at Cordelia's face from the corner of his eyes he knew that was a lie. He let his eyes trail breifly over her sharp nose and beautiful dark eyes.
An interesting night indeed.
---
The carriage rolled to a stop as the sun was fully dipped into the pool of the night sky. The moon was just starting to emerge from the horizon as they stepped out of the carriage. Matthew went second after Anna and stiffly helped Cordelia down to the stones. The night air was still damp with the whisper of recently shed rain but now a sharp breeze had cut through that musky air freezing it. Cordelia pulled Matthew's jacket around herself tighter.
They walked inside together. The inside air was thick with sweet and smoke and Cordelia smelled the air greatfully. It was a relaxing break from the stiff smell London air. Anna passed some quick words with the door guard and they sauntered inside gracefully.
Cordelia was yet again struck with the beauty of such a place. A young fairie man with gold eyelashes and dark skin winked at her and Matthew as he passed by. A young werewolf girl sat perched on the arm of a lush green couch with a flute resting below her red staining lips. As she played the warm air of her breath created disappearing clouds that seeped through the keys. Lily the vampire server saw them come in and swayed over hastily.
"Reginald has been learning how to juggle all week and we've all made bets on how many different items he can keep in the air." She blew a lock of loose hair out of her face. "I lost a bet to a ifrit with one arm and the largest mustache I've ever seen, I bet you half his gambling salary goes towards beard wax, drinks?"
She breathlessly holds forward her serving tray of champagne and Cordelia hastily plucks a flute. Matthew expertly fingers two in one hand, handing the second to Anna and going back for a second for himself.
Anna surveys the room and lands her gaze on a circle of guests standing alterly around a man. Over there heads every couple of seconds seems to fly another blue and white china saucer. The crowd claps and cheers with every plate joining the air.
"If you'll excuse me Cordelia I must go see what this commotion is all about. Matthew I do trust you'll take complete care of Cordelia while I am away with miss Chen?"
"I can take perfectly good care of myself", Cordelia cut in quickly, plucking Matthew's jacket from her shoulders. Lily smiled admiringly.
Anna smiled as well, "Yes of course but Matthew isn't the one who came to my flat drenched in rain demanding debauchery".
Matthew's eyes glittered over the rim of his champagne flute, "for once".
With that Anna had turned; sweeping Lily up in her sway and leaving Matthew and Cordelia alone in a room full of motion.
Matthew deposited his now empty glasses on the nearest side table and took his coat from Cordelia, shrugging it on. Cordelia turned to deposit her empty flute next to Matthew's. When she turned back around Matthew brandished a small tin of white hard candies to her. She hesitantly took one looking at him quizzically.
"They're french", he answered to her unasked question. "Anise of Flavigny, these are rose flavored. Don't bite down on them though, they'll break your teeth". Matthew brandished his signature smile as if to show off his perfectly unbroken teeth as an example.
Cordelia couldn't help but smile warmly back as she popped the small candy in her mouth. The taste of roses brought her back to being a child and having her cook mix sweet rose syrup and water to make her and her brother rose water to drink in the summer. She thought it strange to find such warm childhood memories in a place she would consider so far from the inocents of childhood.
"Matthew?"
"Hmm?", Matthew looked back down at her, he had seemed distracted and distant but it seemed her words snapped him back to reality.
"What do er do we do?", The thought occured to Cordelia that she didn't know much of what really went on in a salon and she wasn't to keen on flailing about trying to figure it out and making a fool of herself.
Matthew threw his head back lazily and giggled, it wasn't a mocking laugh but instead it seemed to be a laugh of pure delight.
"Oh Cordelia this is the question isn't it?", He extended his arm to her to take and she took it hesitantly. He was warm and humming with energy. "Come along now, there's loads to see and do".
Matthew led them over to a large seated vampire who seemed to be talking to a small group of people who were nodding and commented with eachother. On the way he has snagged two dark glasses of wine and handed one to Cordelia. She took a long drink of it, grimacing slightly at the bitter taste but welcoming the warm feeling it spread throughout her. Matthew skillfully wedged their bodies into the fray of the conversation and began listening contently.
"If the mundanes keep palling around the Middle East and digging up all those tombs they're going to end up releasing some angry old spirit of curse on all those poor locals."
A silver haired nymph cut in quickly "did you know they're eating bits of mumified person now? They think it'll give them good health, I would never eat such an old human, it seems rotten and distasteful."
"Some even think they'll be able to find the fountain of youth off the White Nile, I think they're fools the lot of them." The werewolf man added.
Cordelia was constantly ammused by the da gerous and expensive lengths mundane women would go to look young and thought back to her comment on how It'd be so much easier to just become a vampire.
The group of guests began to laugh mirthfully and look at her.
"Amusing observation, especially amusing coming from one so young and pretty" said the Nymph woman examining Cordelia head to toe. Cordelia flushed in embarrassment, she hadn't meant to say her comment out loud for everyone to hear. She looked up to Matthew in alarm and found him smiling warmly down at her; apparently just as ammused as the rest of the crowd. The group of guests had moved onto another discussion and Matthew guided her away clearly finding their new topic too boring for their adventurous night. He led her into a side hallway slightly quieter than the fray of the main room but with a wide view still of it's goings.
He took her arm and brought her to sit beside him on a plush loveseat against the wall. The couch was a dark nightly ocean blue with nude carved women making up the wood accents of the back. Cordelia finished off her glass and reached for another drink from a passing servers tray. She hiccuped as she took a drink from her new glass.
She watched the juggling man now hold or rather toss 4 live lobsters around while a warlock woman standing by him collected bet money. She scanned the room for Anna but she was no where to be found. She let her eyes settle on a large looming painting on her left side. It depicted a young man made of gold surrounded by a golden castle scene. His frozen arms were held up like a ballerina as if to hug the air. At his feet fell and older man dressed in fine clothes apparently sobbing in anguish over the scene of metal. She took another sip of her drink and looked over at Matthew and found him with a far off look in his eyes. He too was looking at the painting but it seemed to touch him in a way it did not touch her.
---
Matthew had always been intrigued the story of king Midas. A man who was surrounded by beauty but was punished anytime he tried to touch the lives of the people around him. Matthew himself often felt he ruined anything he touched but instead of gold he just offered fire. He burned away good things if he got to close to them. So few people could get close to him without catching fire but no one could truly touch him. Not even James. If James knew his truths he ran the risk of losing him. His sweet Jamie was the best thing he had in his life and he would never risk losing him.
Matthew breathed deeply. In. And out.
And opened his eyes again. When his vision focused he found a fairie man looking at them from across the room.
No, not them. Her
His golden eyes were fixed on her pointadly. He had dark waist length black hair to match his dark freckles covered skin. He was wearing a black suit with golden trim to match his bright golden eyes. Matthew looked over at Cordelia but she seem singlemindably fixated on staring at the oil painting to their left. Matthew felt a warm possessiveness rise up in his heart. He knew it was nonsensical but watching this man give Cordelia such a hungry look made him bubble up with a strange sort of anger he wasn't used to.
Matthew leaned over and wrapped an arm around Cordelia's shoulders to get the message across that she was not available. Whether the action was in Jamse's name or his one he dared not ask. It seemed to have worked cause the man slipped out of Matthew's sight and into the crowd.
---
Cordelia was startled out of her dazed state by Matthew curling his arm around her shoulders and pulling her toward him. She looked up at him in alarm.
"Matthew is everything alright?". He was looking forward narrow eyed but Cordelia saw nothing there when she looked.
As soon as the look had appeared on his face it passed, like clouds in the sky the sun was out again and he was babbling light heartedly.
"Yeah everything is dandy I was just wondering if you'd want to hear a poem I was working on." He gracefully lifted his arm from her shoulder and started waving his hands around wildly as if he had intended this from the start.
"Yes but didn't you tell me you're rubish at writing?" Cordelia deposited her empty glass on the floor beside her and sat back.
"Yes but that never stops me from trying; maybe this time will be the one!" He jumped up and on to the foot stole infront of her looking down devilishly.
"My sweet maiden left me dry
She torn my savings which made me cry
She took the child and left a log
But worst of all she took the dog" Matthew smiled confidently as if his verses were likely to win him a writing award.
Cordelia burst out laughing, "good god! You are awful". In her fit of giggles she tipped over sideways landing on the cushion beside her. She kicked her booted feet up and onto the arm of the ornate couch. She knew if her mother could see her now she'd probably drop dead on the sight.
Matthew leaned over and laughed down at her. Cordelia couldn't stop laughing back in his face, he looked so funny upside down, like his eyebrows made a tiny mustache for his tiny face. Cordelia reached up and covered his mouth with her hand to complete the illusion and fell into another fit of giggles. She drew her hand back and sat up dazedly.
Matthew knelt down beside her one hand on her lower back steadying her as she sat up. He cheerful but slightly concered looked concerned.
"Cordelia how are you feel-" but Matthew was cut off by a loud round of applause coming from the stage in the middle of the room. The flutist from earlier took to the stage along with kellington and a woman with a cello. Upon further inspection the cello seemed to be made of an ivory material with a bone neck. It was beautiful in a sickly sweet way, much like the player. Her hair was a waterfall of pale cobwebs adorned with small red spiders. The sight made Matthew's stomach churn.
As Kellington raised his violin to his chin he let his eyes grazed over the crowd.
"Tonight we have a special musical act. The talented miss Nightwae and Miliana are joining me in playing some dancing music." People began to desert their drinks behind and search for dancing partners at the catalyst of his words.
"They raised their bows as the dark lipped woman brought the flute to her lips. The music swelled up in a haunting melody. Not one native to a ballroom but perhaps a far away land or fairytale.
Cordelia stood up quickly wishing to get a closer look and found her vision quickly being eaten over by black ink. She reached out as Matthew caught her around the waist steadinging her. She wasn't surprised by her slight faintness she hadn't eaten anything since breakfast and had had a hard day of training.
She had been planning on teaching James to make stuffed grape leaves for dinner. He had expressed great interest in learning how to help her prepare meals and-
"Let's dance", Cordelia caught at Matthew's shoulders and pulled him towards the main room. Taken be surprise Matthew stumbled at first but regained his footing and soon found himself swept up in a sea of fine fabrics and finer guests all swaying dangerously to a far away melody.
Matthew took Cordelia's hand in his own and lightly placed his hand on her hip careful not to cross any boundaries he couldn't later take back. They twirled with the crowd. Matthew was an excellent dancer and led her expertly. He bent his head in to talk to her in a low ammused voice.
"You know for such a beautiful solo dancer you sure are poor at couples dances."
Cordelia looked up at him challengingly, "you know for such a charming boy you sure do insult ladies alot." Her words were harsh but the curl of her lips and the glint in her eyes conveyed the true joking matter of her phrase.
The song paused and changed quickly to a more dissonant and deep melody. Matthew twirled Cordelia and the room swam around her she lost her footing and ended up righting herself using his arms to keep her up. She looked up to thank him and was shocked still to find James smiling back down at her. He slid his hands down to her waist and began to away them further towards the center stage.
"James? What are you doing here?"
James leaned in closer, his lips brushing the edge of her ear as he spoke. "Is that what you see? Fascinating".
He spun her sideways a couple feet and joined her moving deftly across the dance floor, further and further from her original spot. As they floated deeper into the fray she felt the hot air settle around her, making her hair frizz on the nape of her neck with sweat.
"What are you talking about? James, what is happening?" Cordelia felt some sort of sense trying to leak into her brain but found herself unable to grasp at it, like fog blocking out the sun.
"You are an incredibly alluring girl. From the moment you walked in I've had my eye on you. I was right". He moved with her again, further.
"Right about what?" She asked breathless and confused.
His golden eyes danced like the embers of a bonfire.
"You're trapped. You love and cannot love. You live a lie fabricated around this face."
He stopped dancing and reached down gripping her face. His fingers dug into her cheek and he pressed down so hard she could taste sparks of metal.
"Tragic. Such a beautiful face wasted away on unrequited love." He let his hand fall again and his arms came possesivly snaking around her waist. "No wonder the lucky guy is so beautiful, pretty faces were never known to show much mercy huh?"
With that Cordelia fell. Fell into the warm darkness surrounding her. It was like falling backwards into the ocean on a warm day. The coldness took her over and the last thing she saw was the glint of golden eyes.
---
Matthew was now frantically pushed and weaving his way through the dance floor after Cordelia and the golden eyed man. It was him, the dark haired man from earlier.
He had finally caught up to them just in time to see Cordelia fall backwards into the man's tight grip. Her head lulled backwards her eyes shut and lips slightly parted. Matthew cried out, forgetting himself and the setting he was in.
As he rushed towards them the man opened his arms in a grand sweeping gesture and let her fall. Matthew reached out and caught her, sinking to the floor to cushion her fall.
"What did you you?!" Matthew was furious but holding a knife to this man's throat would hardly accomplish anything but getting Matthew kicked out.
The air stilled around them and the room seemed to slow like bodies running through water.
"I didn't do anything she didn't secretly want. She saw what she desired". The man gazed down at them with his chin raised.
"Who do you see fair one?" With those words the man's skin seems to ripple and shudder away revealing a tall pale blonde boy staring down at Matthew.
It was him. When he was 13. Wide eyed and childlike, carrying a small bottle of poison in his pocket.
Matthew was at a loss for words. His mind was going a thousand miles a minute even though it seemed whatever enchantment was at work was pausing the sway of bodies around them.
"Interesting, you and her both long for such heart aching things. What a pair", and with that the man stepped back into the crowd as it swelled back to normal time and swalled him whole. He loooked around frantically but he was no where to be seen

Ch 2 Compromises & more compromises.
Next Council meeting came up different than expected. They would simply not abandon the idea of the princess Zelda’s marriage as soon as possible. During a week, all they discussed was about:
“Your father last words and last breath was hoping you took care of the kingdom! Your majesty, we are hoping you have not forgotten. Besides, your nephew Zaphire is still too young”
“Think about the benefits of a marriage, having turned seventeen and Six month old, we could confirm the union with Altea to assure the wedding, for Hyrule’s prosperity, that political business would guarantee the improvement of the city”
“Princess... think about what your father would have wanted” instigated Vaati, one of the youngest members of the council.
She was cornered. If she said no, she would be denoting weakness and denying prosperity and benefits for the economy of her people. But she could not hide, deep in her heart how much she hated the idea of marrying a complete stranger.
“Our people can prosper here, and now... wise man, you may send the messenger if you please, but you can not expect a wedding in less than six months. I still grieve for my father, the King. He is now in a sacred place, so I demand you do not make assumptions of what he would have wanted.”
The council had enough with that for an answer, but that jus gave her time before they forced her on what seemed inevitable.
Her gazed crossed with Link’s, to her surprise he had accepted the charge of chief commander with a usual inexpressible face. At least that would keep him near, with the meetings, now that his role as her appointed knight was over. Maybe it was something forbidden and risky, to finally accept herself how she felt about him, but the proof was solid... every moment she thought about the warm feeling of love he made her have, the power of the triforce resonated in her, her hand would shine with light. Was there any possibility she confessed how she felt? What would be the consequence? Would she be left with unrequited love? Only imagining it made her stomach feel empty, made her feel she was falling from a cliff.
She was expecting to see Link on Monday, she dressed with a beautiful blue gown, and she even had perfume of roses on her, she would invite him to have dinner, just like the old times in the wild. But she found Link was gone. Later they informed her that he had requested to visit the Zora’s kingdom. So that reminded her of ... princess Mipha.
She felt her heart heavy, painful sensation she tried to avoid all day long. Little they knew that a dark force was infiltrating, moving their own game to separate them in this moments of felt victory.
“So... here I am... princess Miphy”
Said his friend knight with a big smile. Zora’s kingdom was sunny in that precise moment. Link had requested permission to be absent from the army and the council a couple of days. It seemed that the princess had something she wanted to show him.
“I... please come with me, there is something I must give you please!” She said with a reverence, repeating “please” with every sentence” he could far tell she was really nervous.
“It’s just me, there’s no need of such formality” he said scratching his head.
“But now you reminded me, with all this responsibility in Hyrule’s castle, I’m beginning to feel as an important person” he said bluffing as a joke to his childhood friend, even though she seemed distracted, something rare, as she always payed close attention to whatever he said.
She led him into a road near the waterfalls around the village. At first she intended to take him to Vah Ruta, but she remembered that the place would be crowded because they installed a big marketplace near the dam, where Vah Ruta was resting, she didn’t wanted to lose more time, so she lead him behind one of the tallest waterfall of clear water, they went through a fancy zora door, reaching a big chamber. There rested a closed treasure chest in the center of the room, lightened by a ray of sunlight filtered from above,
Link was half naked now, he took off his champion tunic, his pants and his boots before crossing under the waterfall. He was used to it since he visited the kingdom as a kid, occasionally he would even play in the cliff jumping to the water for hours. He had a close relationship with king Dorphan too.
Mipha blushed slightly watching his naked torso, she began stuttering even more.
“Link... I have made this for you”...
Link, curious and impatient, went right to the chest she was pointing. He didn’t wait a second to hear what was inside, something he would regret later. He went right to it, and opened the treasure, asking if he could have it now at the same time.
Inside, he found a zora armor, a helmet and zora grieves.
With a serious expression, he observed slowly the beautiful design in the armor set. Mipha kept silent then, maybe he knew the meaning of that gesture.
“This... is a zora armor set...” he said, touching it softly to get a feel of the texture, his eyes were bright with excitement .
“Link... humm.., I must tell you that...”
“This is the coolest thing ever!!!! Mipha, does this make me a faster swimmer?..”
“Yes, you’ll swim faster, and you can ascend big waterfalls going versus water current... but... listen... Link...”
While he was trying to listen, Link was already putting on the armor set. It was a perfect fit, something unexpected, because if it was made with a zora pattern, he expected it to be a little big for him, because all Zora were taller than him.
When Mipha got his attention back, Link was already putting the helmet on.
“So... It’s a very special... item.. because..”
“Of course it’s special! It’s perfect! How did you know it would fit me?” He said, stretching his arms and jumping a little while mumbling that the color was so cool and the liberty of movements, he just didn’t let the Zora princess finish any of her sentences.
“Link!... listen!... that armor set... is for my future husband!”
It was just then that he kept silence and turned to face her, analyzing her words.
“I... I handcrafted it carefully, and I... made it for you... with all my love... Link... do you remember the day you killed the Linel?... it ...it all started that day... I fell in love with you”
He stared at the princess, the young zora was bowing in front of him, as a sign of respect. If she could be more red, her blushing face would have been noted on her delicate features. Her eyes were closed tightly, she seemed about to cry.
“Mipha...” he said, walking towards her slowly, his eyes wide open, he felt now like he was in a sort of unreal dream, expecting to wake up any moment. Her love confession was truly an unexpected surprise for the hylian.
“Mipha... I care for you deeply” he said, raising her chin with his hand, so she would look back at him, putting his other hand on her head.
“I know... this may sound unfair... but... I have always thought of you as my family... and I really would like to offer something so precious like you are feeling right now about me... it doesn’t matter if we are Hylian or Zora...” and making a pause he continued
“I know... you will find the most special person for you... I am sure you will!... I’m really sorry Mipha...”
And making a deeper bow in front of her, he continued on a more formal way. He didn’t want to loose her long time friend, into his mind appeared images of his childhood : them investigating dangerous mistery of the lost silver rupee, how they played and he defended her of river otoroks, or when she showed him exited his new baby brother Sidon along with many other memories, as much as he didn’t want to hurt her, he couldn’t offer what she expected of him.
-“I... had the impression... it was unrequited” she answered. A silent tear running down her cheek and a forced smile placed on her lips.
-“Is it... that you have someone special already Link?” She asked quickly cleansing the tear away from her face
-“I promise, the moment I find her, you’ll be the first one to know” he answered offering his small finger to lace it with hers
-“It’s a promise”
And joining pinkys, they were distracted by a young zora who came in walking hand in hand with little Sidon, who came kicking water playfully.
-“My Mipha!” He ran to her when he saw her. The princess stoop down and carried him on her shoulders with a smile.
-“Link! I want Link’s outfit! My Mipha is going to make me clothes like Link’s!” He said convincingly, pointing at Link’s armor.
The young Zora who came behind was Sidon caretaker. She apologized
-“I’m sorry, Princess Mipha, lord Sidon insisted so much we should look for you, I supposed you would be here”
Link bécame Awareness he was still wearing Zora’s armor set, with such a significance he began undressing it.
“I... would like you to keep it” Mipha said timidly, “After all... it is made only for you”.
-“I can’t accept such honor”... said doubtfully the blue eyed hylian.
“Please! Take it as a gift, for the heroe of the evil vanishing sword”.
“I want it! My-Mi, make one for me, would you?” Said the little princess brother, bouncing on her shoulders, without knowing real significance of the matter.
“Yes, yes. I will, but you’ll see, a prettier Zora girl It’s going to make a better one for you one day” Mipha told his little brother, tickiling his feet, so he inocently laughed.
“No! My-Mi is the preeeeetiest Zora of all” he answered, opening his arms to the air.
“Of course she is” Link claimed, and so they all began walking to the waterfall exit..
It’s not that Link didn’t wanted to try the zora armor, or that he wouldn’t like to have said hello to the king of the Zora, it was just that uncomfortable silence, he didn’t know if he had to explain if having the armor, people might think he was in fact now the princess fiancé, and it would be all missunderstood as next royal - son in law.
He also didn’t want to take it off, so he wouldn’t hurt Mipha more than he already felt he had, so he decided to return to Hyrule as soon as possible, so he parted, with formal goodbye to the siblings. As expected, Mipha didn’t insist on him staying, most likely she would not fancy seeing him for a while, action he perfectly understood.
“-See you in a month on Hyrule!” He said, taking the road to Hyrule.
Once he was out of sight, Mipha took Sidon off her shoulders, and sat on the ground near the water. Silent tears came flowing non stop.
“My Mipha? Are you I’ll?” Sidon came near, touching her face.
“Does it hurt?l he asked with big child eyes, about to start crying too.
“Yes... it hurts. I will be ok, little one” She said, taking her face to her knees.
-“ Sidon, let us find some wild flowers to cure your sister, I need your help” Her nany said, Sidon, eager to help took her hand and they left the princess alone, after all, it was going to be hard to cure a broken heart.
Mind blank, that was the journey back Hyrule, So much have happened in so little time.
Many matters were required at his return, and what he imagined it would be short vacation with the Zora, came as a sad situation.
-“Sometimes I feel really stupid” he talked with his horse, reprimanding himself for not realizing Mipha’s feelings towards him. How long would she felt that way? Would it have been different having known them? It was frustrating not to find a solution, not to be able to help all of those who were important to him.
In the meantime on Hyrule.
Once morning meeting was finished, Zelda went personally to supervise contstruction site in the outskirts. She felt heaviness on her soul since early morning. On her mind, it only occured that, without the duty of being her appointed knight, Link didn’t have to be after her all the time. A year had being enough to pass from despise to longing.
Impa walked towards her, accompanied by two man of a peculiar aspect, one of them was red head like fire, without hylian ears, wich was considered flamboyant for the villagers, and people around. He was being followed by a taller man, with a black cloak covering his hair, and part of the face... or was it a tall woman? For the fine features of it’s face, and the slim body, it was hard to tell.
“Princess Zelda, ... they...uhh” that was all Impa was able to murmur, referring to the red haired man.
“It’s such an honor, to meet you at last your majesty, a lot has been spoken about your beauty on the literature, on the land that we are from! But it does not make justice to the real muse, who inspires all those wisdom poems, sang on realm festivities” He said theatrically, reaching her and taking her hand to make a greeting and giving Zelda a quick kiss on her cheek, that was a real surprise.
“Impa, I trust you are going to tell me what is this about”. As shocked as she was, she wasn’t sure if she should be laughing or upset.
“They come from Altea..” the Sheikah answered unceremoniously, that erased the little smile from her face.
“I imagine you are here for the answer to your future King, prince Marth” she asked directly. “Well, Incan go ahead and tell you that I’m sorry you travelled this far, but princess Zelda in unwilling to have a marriage...”
“Princess, you are mistaken, please hear this humble peasants, my name is Raphael, I’m a land worker, who achieved a degree on architecture, so I was sent as a help to rehabilitate your beautiful kingdom, as help from a neighbor kingdom.
“And your servant I presume, is...”
“He is my bodyguard, Ling, a pawn who was sent to protect me from the roads, even squire, if you would excuse him, he is not instructed on reading and writing” . He stood silent to such statements, raising his head a little.
“So, were you both farmers?” She asked, uncertain of his words, their hands, even covered in half gloves, didn’t seem of a man who had worked tilling the ground
“Yes! We were, your real majesty, we hope not to be a bother, so made clear our only objective is to help with the reconstruction and devastation your kingdom suffered.
“In that case, you are welcome, I trust my most trusted guardian Impa wil, find you a acomodation, shall you follow me please, I was just heading to talk to architect headmasters to deal with house construction”
Both look themselves for a second before following her.
On purpose, she took the road near vegetable plot, many hylians were working there, hylian whom dedicated all their lives to farm and grow plants.
-“Good morning Mr Talem, I see that carrots are going well”
The old man, seeing it was the Princess herself, made a bow in one knee, rising after her signal to come closer.
-“Yes, it is, we are hoping fertile lands this years your majesty” he politely answered with a smile.
-“This lords here, will be more than happy to give you some advice, how long is the harvest period for carrots in Altea? Lord Raphael?
The red head stood still, looking from Zelda, to the farmer and then Zelda again.
-“Well, your majesty, carrots on Altea have a 15 day period to harvest”
Both, Zelda and Mr Talem made a surprised face, and Zelda raised an eyebrow incredulous
-“That’s really fast sir, you have to tell me the way to achieve that in or lands” Talem said, taking off his hat in front of Raphael.
“And the big hearted radish, so abundant in Altea, we also grow it here, how long does it take you to harvest? Sir Raphael? She inquired again.
-“Oh... of course! Only two weeks of a good irrigation of fresh spring water, and you’ll have it ready for a salad! “ he answered without a doubt.
Talem looked at him with bright eyes, and bowed several times, asking him to teach Altea’s harvesting tips
-“Some other day, Talem now I have to take them with the architects”
Impa followed a steps behind Zelda, who went ahead inside a tent installed for construction workers, going inside with both characters.
-“So, foreigners, maybe in Altea there is some magic to fertilize your vegetables so much so they grow twice as fast, or maybe you are just mot aware that the big heart turnip is exclusive of the Lands of Hyrule, but I’d like to know your real purpose here, Are you spies? Because is now clear to me that you were not farmers. I knew prince Marth was unorthodox, but sending spies to Hyrule?” She told them, on a more upset tone, walking around the tent.
Raphael got a bit nervous.
-“Well, you see.. what really happens is...”
The young man on dark cloak, who had been silent until now, with one movement revealed himself under the fabric, unveiling his blue hair and white skin, and blue eyes like his hair, he was really good looking at first sight.
-“It’s ok, Roy” he told the red headed, touching his shoulder. “Princess Zelda, it has been imprudent of me to put ourselves on this situation” he told to the blond girl, his voice was deep and manly for his complexion.
-“Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Marth Lowell, heir prince of Altea”
Zelda couldn’t believe her ears, the prince himself on Hyrule? And it was quite not what she imagined, among her calculation, he should have at least twice her age.
-“Is it not that Marth was born on 52e after the first cataclysm?...”
-“I’m sorry for that confusión, here it is, Falchion sword to prove myself, I know that whomever wrote my birth date, in a couple of copies of Altea’s genealogical tree, changed mine with my cousin, Ike, but my year of birth is bear, meaning I’m nineteen years old, this year I’ll be twenty your highness” he said, while unfolding a package revealing a beautiful sword, with golden handle, embedded with a beautiful ruby on center and an emerald at the left, covered with a blue fine sheath. Impa, who was límete IMG from outside, went inside the tent, side with the Princess.
-“The moment news arrived to my father of the proceeding of our engagement, I wanted to personally come without pretending to mean any offense, to meet you at least once before allowing others to make a choice in my place, so that is why I made our presences so discreet
“Didn’t succeed at all” she thought to hersel, instead of making themselves familiar, they made themselves more noticeable among hylians.
-“So... now that you know me, and my kingdom, I suppose your interests on the engaging has decreased, as you see, we are recovering with many projects” she stated on a diplomatic way, as she never thought she would have to reject the prince personally, but it was easier if he rejected the union first.
-“On the contrary. Knowing Hyrule, and meeting you... has only increased my longing to concrete a possible alliance between our kingdom”

Okay, I've spent the last 24 hours reading a book called "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" I don't know if it's famous on Tumblr or anything but I just felt the need to come here and talk about it and maybe introduce this book to more people.
Tumblr media
First thing first I have to say that even though I discovered it just two day ago it's already one of my favorite books ever, I'm gonna start with a spoiler free review:
When I started it I knew I liked the concept, a Hollywood star searching for a journalist who had no relevance whatsoever and wanting to talk to her and only her about her life and hidden secrets, when Evelyn started to talk about her life I knew I liked the way the book was been written, how easy it was to see all the things Evelyn was describing, how complex every character was getting with every chapter and by the time her story was over I was completely in love with most of them, with how complex and full os nuances the author made them. It's intriguing how we already know or think we know how it ends but then it takes a completely different turn and to be honest by the end I really wished Evelyn Hugo was a real person and that I could talk to her.
From now on there will be spoilers so if you didn't read it and want to do so without spoilers stop here
I have to say I already knew there would be a lgbt story in the book, cause the indication of it came from a thread in which there were only books with Queer characters but also I had no idea that it would be as impacting for me as it turned out to be.
As a bisexual woman myself I was truly in love when Monique asks if Evelyn is coming out as gay woman cause she told her she was in love with Celia and Evelyn tells Monique that she's bisexual, that she loved both men and women and that Monique shouldn't ignore half of her just to put her in a box, the feeling of being ignored just so people can understand you easily is real.
I also loved how her bisexuality was never ignored she loved Celia her whole life, but she loved men too, and not for once she fit the "bisexuals are greedy" stereotype, yes she had sex with guys when she was with Celia, but it was shown as a characteristic of her, she didn't do it because she was bi, she did it because for her it was something that needed be done, either to keep their secrets or to have a baby without raising questions about their secrets.
One other point I really loved was the "multiple soulmates" thing, Celia was her soulmate, the love of her life, but Harry was her best friend, also her soulmate but in such a different way, when I started the book I never, not for a second, thought that their relationship would be so pure and that I would ended up loving Harry and the way he was so kind to her her whole life.
Celia St. James gained my heart the very first time she appeared, I loved how honest she was with Evelyn, how Evelyn who didn't trust a living soul ended up trusting her and their relationship was built with so many layers since the beginning, Celia was not a pure angel, she was just as complex as any other character in this book, I loved how idealistic she was, how she wanted to go to the Stonewall riots, how she never wanted to hide who she was, how when things got too much she actually left Evelyn, it broke my heart, but I also understood her choices, Celia loved Evelyn her whole life too, she was sometimes scared with Evelyn being bisexual, which also broke my heart but in the end when she says "we are gay" and then corrects herself with "I'm gay and you are bisexual", honestly I would read another book just with her and Evelyns stories, and if I could make one single change in the book would be the years they lost being apart, I cried my eyeballs out when they talk about it.
Then there's Evelyn Hugo who honestly is one of the most beautifully written characters I ever read, she was shown as a real person, not a good or bad person, she was a real person dealing with choices, some she got right, some she didn't, she's not type of protagonist I was aused to, she is not a silly girl who didn't understood the things she did, she knew what she wanted she went after it, she never say she was sorry, I didn't like her very much in the beginning maybe cause that is not the kind of female characters we are "supposed to love" but oh god did Evelyn Hugo conquered my heart fast, as a young girl conquering Hollywood or as a old woman advising Monique, I loved every part of her character, sure she made a lot of bad choices, she wasn't inocent person or as she said herself "a good person", but I understood her, I respected her so much, and to be honest, if she was a real person I would like to sit down and talk to her about everything.
Evelyn and Celia's relationship was my favorite surprise, I didn't think it would go as they did, I cried when they got married in their bed cause I knew what would happen next, the book never for once tried to deceive the reader, everyone Evelyn loved was dead, so it was a matter of time, but it was more heartbreaking than I anticipated, I loved how soft Evelyn was with Celia, how she kept the soft only for her, how even with the many tribulations I thought till the very end that their love was one of the most pure things I ever read, how they trade little messages in their Oscar acceptance speechs and how they loved each other even when they hadn't seen each other for years, how all they want to be able to live like a normal couple, I thought of how many people back then had to go through the same thing as they did, how many are going through it now, and my heart was even more broken.
I must say that I searched for every possible connection between Evelyn and Monique, and when the accident was mentioned I knew what was the big secret, but it wasn't less shocking when Evelyn said it to her, I was pleased surprised when she said that she did it for Monique to know how much she was loved, this and the letter I did not see coming, during the book I thought what part would Monique chose to put in the article, but I never thought she would put that Evelyn loved Celia and yet it felt so incredibly fit, she honored Evelyn even though she was still mad at her, as she said Evelyn loved Celia and that was the most real thing in her life, she had seven husbands and that was widely known but the thing she valuable the most was her wife.
I maybe liked this book way too much, maybe I saw a little bit of myself in every character, in the way Evelyn tried to hide who she was, in Celia want to be with the woman she loved consequences be damned, in the way Harry was realistic about the whole thing, this is definitely a must read for everyone, I'm not quite over it yet, I wrote this long ass post about it and I haven't even said all my thoughts about it, to me this book was precious and I loved the experience it gave me, I ended it crying like a baby but also, very satisfied with how it ended and just wanting badly that it ended up becoming a movie someday but without changing anything, not one single line, I don't know if anyone will ever come to the end of this post but if you do, please share with me your thoughts about this book, it wasn't been officially translated to Portuguese so I don't know anyone who read it, and I can't introduce it to most of my friends cause they don't speak or understand English and I could really use a friend to vent out about this book.

Paloma Querida (English)
Yep, another one-shot with a mariachi title. In this case this song. iIt’s one of my favorites. If Jorge Negrete reminds you of Ernesto, he was one of the inspirations for the character. The translation at the end.
The first kiss is the most important, because is the declaration of rendition. Everyone knows that. But for Imelda, the rendition came at the second kiss. Even before the life stole everything from her, she was stubborn to the bones.
Hector was so infuriating, he wasn’t able to take a choice, singing to her that he loved her but at the sime time mocking here dancing with other girls on the town’s balls, trying to make Imelda fall before him. And Imelda replied doing the same strategy. They spended months on that battle of songs and glances, both of them dying of jealousy for someone that neither of them knew if they were in love with each other, without a sign of an end for that war and no one knew how many damage they both had made.
One day, after going to help one of her aunts on the market place, Imelda was  intercepted by Hector, with his guitar at his back. Both of them walked together on the lonely streets, with the twilight sun giving a golden tone to the town.
“So? Today you didn’t went to the Plaza to sing” he asked.
“My cousin fell ill and well, someone has to help my aunt with the greengrocery. Also, I’m sick of our little game, Hector. I don’t know what you want”
“Game? What game?” he replied, trying to act inocent. Finally he was achieving it, she will tell him that she was in love, not him. Imelda stepped in front of him and took him from the cravate, he was on formal mariachi atire because he was going to play at a quinceañera. She looked at his eyes, scared as a rabbit, because he never thought that Imelda had such a phisical strenght. He haven’t received the order to run away from that fierce eyes when he felt her lips opun his own, on a wild kiss that leaved him breathless. Hector was the one to stop the kiss after seeing that Imelda’s father was coming on their direction. If he was afraid of her, the father was even worse, always carrying with him a revolver.
“And that will be the only kiss you will ever receive, because I don’t want to continue this game. I see you’re not brave enough, I don’t want to lose more time” was her sentence. Then she turned around and walked on her father’s direction.
"This cheeky man did something to you, mija?” the poor man asked, confused, not angry at Hector. The daughter wasn’t ofended, just had her same haughty face that made lots of man lost their minds, trying exactly the same as Hector.
“Nothing, papa”
Hector remained on his same spot for a few secons.
“So she loves me or not?“ he mumbled to himself, trying to understand what hapened.
The next day the festivities started on Santa Cecilia. After the principal mass, the musicians made serenatas to honor Santa Cecilia on the quiosko of the pLaza, as it was the tradition. Imelda was there with her brothers, covered on her shawl because the cold weather started exactly the day the festivities began. When Ernesto and Hector started with Un poco loco, she was away from the quiosko, having more fun with her friends. Hector snorted. So after finishing their song, he asked Ernesto to keep the twins enterteined while he was away with Imelda, promising them a piruli if they ignored the scapade for a minutes. “I aldready told you that I don’t want anything with you” she complained while they reached an alley.
“But I do, Imelda. We both were so stupid for don’t saying anything to each other”. He scratched his head, trying to find the way to say anything at once. “Un poco loco... I wrote it thinking about you. Always in you”
“I know” she smiled. “I just wanted you to admit it”.
Hector discovered that he was the first to leave his defenses down and made his rendition. Now it didn’t mattered. He walked closer to her, closing the space between their lips but without touhing her. He just wanted to know if she was going to replicate the gesture or run away from him.  Surprisingly, Imelda kissed him. And then between them both were fireworks, more brilliand and louder than the ones that were crossing the skies of Santa Cecilia at this moment and also they heard violins and trumpets. That kiss didn’t lasted long, afraid of being found. She huged him. The space between his arms was perfect. Imelda’s skin was cold, but he was warm, so much that he wasn’t able to survive on summer on his own skin.
“The only thing I can give you” he whispered to her ear “Are my songs and my life”
He looked at her eyes and they seemed to shine like stars.
“That would be enough”
The last band started to play
I don’t know what’s the value of my life But I will give it to you I don’t know if your love will receive it But it’s all yours.
A century before, when they both found each other again on the Afterlife and all the pain and resentment was left behind, Oscar and Felipe, laughing on a night of familiar party, reminded Hector that he still owed them their pirulies.
Notes 1- Eh, on every little town (and if the town has more than one church) there are festivities near the time of the holiday of the patron saint of that church. Sometimes they last a week, sometimes longer. On Guadalajara, Jalisco they last a month! Usually is tradition to give serenatas for the patron saint (specially if it’s a she or Virgin Mary). Also we have lots of parties and mechanical games and stuff like that.
2-The pirulies are a cone-shaped lollipop. Me and my grandpa love ones that are made on a nunnery near our hometown.
3- Paloma means, literally, “dove”. But it’s also a girls name, as on english speaking countrys they name girls and boys “Robin”. In fact, part of the lyrics of the song is a play about saying that the woman for whom the song was made has her home on the singer’s heart (that’s why he made it a dovecote).
For the day you came to my life Paloma, my dear, I made a toast. And when I felt a little drunk Thinking about your lips I started to sing.
I felt above everyone else And a handful of stars I tried to take for you And when I see that it wasn’t enough I felt so angry that I wanted to cry. I don’t know how much is the value of my life But I will give it to you I don’t know if your love will receive it But it’s all yours You found me on a black road As a peregrin without a path or faith And the light of your divine eyes changed my luck fur bliss and pleasuere. Since that day I feel like I love you Will all the strenght that my soul has Since that day, Paloma, my dear I changed my chest for a dovecote.

Kami no Tou: The Webtoon that became Anime
Right now I'm just thrilled with this anime and previous Webtoon, so i will just describe my impresion about it and introduce you to this awesome history. Tower of God: The Webtoon. Tower of God by the corean autor Slave in Utero (SIU) started as a webtoon that was published weekly on the web. Reach the highest and everything will be yours. At the top of the tower you will find everything that exists in this world, and everything can be yours. You can be a god. This is the story of the beginning and the end of Rachel, a girl who ascends the tower to see the stars, and the 25th Bam, the boy who all he needed was to be with her. Well, if you think that this is a shonen and chill manhwa, you are absolutly wrong. I chose it because it's a history of a betrayal, in honor of this CFG and because i want to celebrate the hability of the autor to create such a especials caracters. We have the protagonist, the sweet and inocent boy named the 25th Baam (Baam mean Night in corean) who for some random reason lived all his previous life locked up in a cave under the ground and one day is found by Rachel, a girl that is obsessed with see the stars and is capeable to do everything to make it (it seems that in their "world" real stars does't exists because the sky that they see is actually the roof of the "floor"). Rachel one day decide to start climbing the tower and for that you need to be invited by the Tower Gate and become a "Regular". By doing this she abandons Baam and he refuses to be abandoned and manages to open the gate of the tower on his own (those legends who accomplish this on their own are known as "Irregulars") and begins their search for the person who showed him the light. Well, I have read 200 chapters and the character devolepment that SIU achieves is just awesome, because the evolve of the internal narrative of Baam through the years of self-discovery and climbing the tower with friends like Khun, Rak, Hwaryun, the Sweet & Sour Team, and others not so friendly like Rachel, that (guess what) turns out that she is so machiavellian and evil with a Baam that mostly trust in her and that desire gives him such a powerful will. Recently this webtoon This webtoon was turned into an anime (Kami no Tou) that stands out for staying loyal to the artistic style of the comic and for pulling out so many good vibes with the photografic direction and the color design. That's all what i can say not doing spoilers :)

Think about this!
Imagine: (this takes place a few months after Angela’s death)
The episode starts off with Glimmer, Bow and Adora sitting at a table with the other princesses. Glimmer looks around at everyone realizing that she’s in charge. Adora puts her hand on her arm and gives her a light “you got this smile” Glimmer smiles and looks at Bow who gives her a thumbs up.
Glimmer: -sigh- Ok our game plan... I have no idea what it is.
Adora: Well our intel tells us that the horde is posted at an old abandoned village, soilders will be dressed as villagers to not blow their cover.
Bow: But how do you know it’s the horde?
Adora: Intell says they saw Kile and Lawney dressing up as villagers and they saw Catra pushing down her ears and tail to make her look more human.
Glimmer: Right! Well I’ll send in my troops to invade and handle it.
Adora: No it’s Catra and Scorpia this is a call for She-ra! Cmon Glimmer we can do it! All of us!
Bow and all of the princesses join in and cheer
Adora: Glimmer? *she holds out her hand for Glimmer to take*
Glimmer takes it and smiles
Glimmer: all right! Let’s get ready to invade and push the revolution closer to victory!
*Back at the Horde village*
Catra: ugh god I can’t hear well with my ears down like this! And what’s this thing? *she holds a comb*
Scorpia: It’s a comb! You use it to comb your matted hair it makes you look more human. *she combed Catras hair* there now it looks great and it’s so soft and smooth. You should use it more. *She smiles*
Catra: Fine what ever! *she grabs the comb out of Scorpias hand* GOD this village idea sucks! There’s nothing to do and everyone is boring and there’s no fighting!
Scorpia: yeah that’s kinda the point! Now the rebellion doesn’t know we’re here and we can get closer to Bright Moon and also it’s just nice to have a normal no-tech-or-fighting day and to just relax and be common people. Look! Kile’s making a flower crown!
Catra: Fine you do have a point. It is kinda nice. *she looks down, holds her arms and lets out a half smile* ANYWAY! Center troop! You should be patrolling the watch tower and troop A you should be patrolling the-
Scorpia: Catra!! Stop! There’s nothing to be patrolling and trooping and you should just calm down! We’re hiding in plain sight. There’s no way “She-Ra” And her friends will find us, we’re fine. So calm down and just have fun!
Catra: Ugh you’re the worst. *she stomps off*
*Catra tries to sniff the flowers and sneezes everywhere. She tries to make a flower crown and gets pollen all over her. She tries a fruit but spits it out all over Kile. She tries on villager clothes but her tail pokes through*
*she sighs, she sitting in a chair with her face in her hand* Why does this village seem so... familiar?
*mean while with Bow, Glimmer and Adora*
*the princesses, Bow, Glimmer and Adora are all riding to the village and discussing battle strategies*
Perfuma: Plants
Frosta: ICE!
Mermista: Drown them
Adora: how about we do what we always do and just wing it? It works literally every time.
*they all agree*
Glimmer: ok so we heard that Catras ears are tucked meaning she can’t hear well so we should do like a kinda sneak attack!
Adora: leave that part up to me! I know Catra like the back of my hand and I know her fighting tactics so what if I distract her and you guys drive out the Horde from the village? Without a leader they’ll be forced to leave!
Bow: Sounds good to me! Glimmer?
Glimmer: Sounds great.
Adora: Hey so when will we get to this “abandoned village” anyway?
Glimmer: it’s right up here!
*Adora spots the village and her eyes widen she gets a flash of horde memories. She stops and falls back in her seat. She starts breathing faster and faster*
Glimmer: Adora what’s wrong?
Adora: This village... I raded it!
Bow: WHAT???
Adora: 2 years ago when I was still in the Horde, Shadow Weaver put us in charge of turning this village into a horde base. After we got the comand we head out. Me and Catra we’re in charge, but I remember the kids scareaming *she gets a flash of kids crying in a memory* the people running for their lives *she gets a memory of people running and screaming* I was in charge of all of that, the flames, the screams, the chaos! And all while me and Catra were laughing and driving a tank! The horde is truly evil!
*she started sweating*
Glimmer: Hey hey, it’s ok, you’re not in the horde anymore you can fix this! Help us get the horde out of there and the people and probably return to their homes! You can do it Adora!
Bow: Adora, it’s gonna be ok, the best friend squad has got this like we always do. I promise. *he takes Adora‘ hands and smiles* it’ll be ok.
Adora: *wipes the sweat and tears off her face* Thanks guys. Now let’s go get the Horde!
*they pull up to the base and get out and start to hide*
*Catra is seen walking alone in the woods near the village*
*Adora hides in the bushes where Catra can’t see her*
Adora: (whispers) Hey Catra.
Catra: WHA, Whooooooo...where are youuuu?
Adora: (still whispering) Do you remember this place?
Catra: *grunts* WHERE *claws at branch* ARE *claws at another one* YOU! AHHHH
Adora: (whispering) Catra, remember what we did!? To all those inocent people! We caused destruction! we ruined lives!
Catra: Adora!!? Shadow Weaver!? Who is this!!?
Adora: I think it’s funny that you don’t know.
Catra: please. *puts her hands on her head* I... I don’t know what to do *falls on the ground* I’m so scared *she starts to cry*
Adora: *comes out if the bushes and pulls up Catra’s ears* Catra!! It’s ok! It’s just me! It’s ok.
Catra: Adora!? Adora! *she smiles with relief and wipes her tears while hugging her*
*her smile goes away and her eyes open wide when she realizes what’s going on*
Catra: Adora! You! *her claws come out* Total!
Adora: Catra?
Catra: Witch!!! AHHHHHH
*she lunges at Adora and attacks her*
Catra: How could you! After everything with Shadow Weaver you! You, went out of your way to scare me! I...I’ll... *she falls on her knees* ...why?
Adora: Catra.
Catra: Just do it Adora! Turn into the big lady and take me down like always, I’ll retreat and it’ll be done with. Besides this place gives me the creeps anyway I keep getting a weird vibe and I don’t know why.
Adora: I think I know why. Do you remember this place? Or did you forget everything we did together?
Catra: No I remember a few things.
Adora: Then remember 2 years ago when we raded this poor village and caused chaos and destruction and scared everyone and all we could do was laugh at the fact that we couldn’t control the tank properly.
-They both laugh-
Catra: No wonder this place felt to familiar.
Adora: But I’m here to fix it all. You can help me. Call
Off your troops and leave so people can return!
Catra: No Adora! I won’t call off anything. *she looks at Adora with her eyes squinted and a frown on her face*
Adora: Fine Catra I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this but. For the Honor of Grey! AGH *Catra kicked her in the face knocking the sword out of her hand*
*Catra picks up the sword and throws it*
Catra: Cmon Adora! Let’s go! Hand to Hand!
Adora: Fine!
*they start going at it! Punching and kicking. Catra kicked Adora to the ground but she jumps up and sweeps her off her feet. Catra gets up and punches her in the stomach then the chin*
*Adora grabs 2 branches and hands one to Catra*
Adora: just like training?
Catra: Just like training. AHHHHH *she charges at Adora*
*their branches clash and Adora pins Catra to the ground*
Catra: You remember a silly memory from 2 years ago but you don’t remeber how I wanted to leave too but you talked me out of it! Shadow Weaver wouldn’t have cared as much! Then you left! How hypocritical!*she over powers Adora and trips her, Adora falls*
Adora: Catra... you could have left too!
Catra: No I couldn’t!
Adora: Yes you could!
Catra: NO!!
Adora: Why??!
Catra: Because I was afraid of what Shadow Weaver would do!! *she drops her branch and drops to her knees and puts her fists on her knees* I was afraid that she would kill me. She would find a way to hunt us down and kill me and take you back to the Horde. I couldn’t risk our safety like that.
Adora: Catra... I... I didn’t know. I’m sorry.
*Catra gets up and leaves*
Adora: where are you going?
Catra: you’ll see *she gestures for Adora to follow her*
*they stand on the top of a cliff over the village*
Catra: All Troops fall back! We’re canceling this mission! It was a bust! I repeat all troops must fall back!
Adora: what are you doing?
Catra: What you wanted. *she jumps off and leads the Horde out*
Adora: -sighs- goodbye
*Glimmer, Bow and the other princesses show up*
Bow: Wow, I guess you... did it. Good job.
Glimmer: But how though?
Adora: I don’t know? But I think she really does wanna be on our side.
*They all stand on the top of the cliff looking down on an empty village*
*in that moment the empty village goes from empty to grey to colorful and full of love and life*
Glimmer: I’m so glad we could help it feels great!
Bow: yeah it’s wonderful to know how much these people appreciate us for what we’re doing! Now! Let’s get back to the castle I have a surprise for you two cmon!
Glimmer: oooo I love surprises!
*Bow, Glimmer and Adora walk back to the carriage, get in and go back to the castle*
Adora thinking:
Past Catra: “But you don’t remeber how I wanted to leave too but you talked me out of it!”
*she sighs*
Bow: Adora? You ok?
Adora: Hmm? Yeah yeah I’m ok. I’m just...thinking.
Bow: Well stop that distracting thinking and listen up! I have been learning this instrument and I wanna play you two a song!
Glimmer: That sounds wonderful! I would love that! Adora?
Adora: yeah of course that sounds great!
Bow: Great! Ok so I don’t know exactly how it goes but here I go...
*He starts strumming the begging of Escapism (from Steven Universe) Adora and Glimmer are leaning on eachother listening to Bow’s beautiful music. Adora stares off and has a memory of Catra sitting on their ledge, Catra is tearing up, thinking she’s alone she starts to sing.*
Catra: I guess I'll have to face
That in this awful place
I shouldn't show a trace of doubt
But pulled against the grain
I feel a little pain
That I would rather do without
I'd rather be
*she sees Adora, they don’t say anything and Adora joins in*
Both: Free-ee-ee, free-ee-ee, free
Catra: I'd rather be
Both: Free-ee-ee, free-ee-ee, free
Free-ee-ee, free-ee-ee, free
Catra: From here
*A single tear raises down her face*
