Sharing my city pop playlist so you can find more city pop songs beside Plastic Love and Stay with me ✨✨

You have listened to Plastic Love and Stay with me once right? And you think you like these songs and want to know other songs that share the same genre? This small list might be for you :D I actually don't listen to a lot of city pop songs, it's more like I listen to different songs from one artist. So any recommendations are welcome 💖

First one it's KU-RU-KU-RU Cruller from Aqours! It is quite rare for a Love Live! song to follow this genre right? This song is really catchy, with encouraging lyrics and really cute choreography. This is also the song which made me realize I have already been in love with city pop. The song is one of my recommendations if you are new to Aqours and want to listen to something fun!

The second song is a cover of Kimitachi Kiwi, Papaya, Mango da ne (Nakahara Meiko) from Furihata Ai - one of my favourite Aqour seiyuus (I love all of them haha). Both the original version and Furi's cover are so good that I had to listen to them on loop for a while. Imma leave the Eng translation of the song I've found for those who are interested in the lyrics!

Another song from Furi is her original song - Purple Eyeshadow. I was wondering which song to choose, but Purple Eyeshadow is more catchy to me, so I decided to put it here. You can check more of Furi's song on her Youtube channel! About the lyrics of the song...I'll leave you searching for yourselves then ;)

Next is a pretty old song from 1984, AIRPORT LADY, sung by Kadomatsu Toshiki. People said that they liked the retake version of the song in 1993 but I find the original version more appealing to me :D

Time to go back to the year of 1983, when Magical Angel Creamy Mami was still on air! And the OP and the ED of the anime, Delicate ni Suki shite and Love Sagerinaku are the songs I want to introduce to you guys today :D While Delicate ni Suki shite sounds so dreamy, Love Sagerinaku has more sexiness in it, but I am more biased toward Delicate ni Suki shite because it was the song I remembered most when I was 5 years old, and the chorus of the song just hits me real hard :') That's right, a girl's heart Can float a moon-shaped little board in the starry sky It can even, search for her own dreams too And when she falls in love, she delicately Falls in love, falls in love, fall in love.

City pop originates from Japan, you guys all know that, right? But what if we have city pop sung in Korean? :D Now let me introduce you to a gem in K-Pop music (in my heart, of course) whose name is YUKIKA ! She is a Japanese, who went to Korea and started her singing career there. It seems that one of her songs, SOUL LADY had become a big hit and inspired some K-Pop artists to try out city pop too! I personally like SOUL LADY the most in every song she has released. The choreography, the catchy beat, the lyrics, the MV, everything is literally perfect 💖 The song tells a story of a girl, who was so overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of Seoul, has become so confident walking on her own road, as if she is truly the "Seoul lady".

To end this, I will write down here the part which I find so meaningful in SOUL LADY chorus:

Anyway some songs that remind me of Yoongi are Satellite by Harry Styles. I don't really like his music or listen to it, but I saw an edit of Yoongi with that song and idk why but like a few months later I was on a tiktok live and they were playing music, then that song started playing and I started crying because it reminded me of the Yoongi edit. I don't really know why I started crying, I think I was just missing Yoongi or whatever LMFAO.

what introduced you to onlyoneof and made you want to get into them?

when libido was released it was all over my dash and at first i was just like "ah cool good for them", honestly i was not a kpop fan at the time I just listened to some stuff like shinee but i didnt "follow" artists

but that had kind of started to change with shinee's atlantis which would become my first kpop album alongside a yukika album, i had followed her since debut basically

time passed and i would always see them on my dash from mutuals and it was a welcome presence. but then lovegate happened...i saw how distressed and confused and upset the people i followed were, some mutuals and i felt a lot of sympathy, it was distressing and still is. but i also saw just how much those people loved onlyoneof and through the darkness a little light shined and i started checking out their content. the first mv i watched was probably libido but i dont remember, what hooked me was time leap the song is just so lovely and how they were able to make so little out of what they had for the mv was endearing that mv is amazing.

tear of god also very much caught my attention, the music and the meaning behind the lyrics

I also just started watching any videos i felt like for them, the vlogs the orions the bts stuff the interviews

I absolutely fell in love with the chaos that is the onlyoneof members

They arent afraid to be themselves and also so connected to fans, very apparent about their personas and who they really are. They are so fucking creative, i really admired how much input they had on the music

I could go on for hours

I think after that they just became a part of my life, with key's Bad Love and delving into ooo's work thats when i truly became a kpop fan, with ooo as my favorite group

I could say so much more so much happened in 2021 but this is basically an essay now so ill stop there...

DANG this bangs. luv the metallic sounding harmonies and the general undercurrent of ~uncertainty that runs along with the lyrics...billlie are always dropping psychological bangers

love effect - onf VERY HAPPY ONF ARE BACK...and this song is so quintessentially them, i missed it lol. nobody does horns like onf. (and that jaunty piano for the rap break omfg i'm obsessed)

space - nct 127 this is another song where the atmosphere was so well thought out...it really does sound like it's out in SPACE lol. that sax, that reverb >>>>>

invincible - tripleS evolution once again triples are out here doing the high-pitched vocals so well. this whole production is??? insane??? i LOVE this dreampop song

growing pain - txt this song came to me at the perfect time in my life lol...i am really falling through the sky with this one. helps me scream. takes me back. propels me forward

back for more - txt this song is disgusting in the best way lmao. vocals insane, groove insane, beats insane. nostalgic and fresh dance track

deep down - txt i just love how...understated this deep club track is??? it's like...shy desperate longing. the drop + the silky vocals are addicting

물수제비 (skipping stones) - txt yes this song had my jaw on the floor on the first listen and it is still bewitching. this nasty ass indie rock instrumental holy fuck. the vocals. the lyrics. all of it together is screaming out to the universe and i love it

good enough - chanyeol SELF HELP SONG! i love the cute lil beats in the chorus and the coziness of the whole track

talk saxy - riize THIS SONG...IS EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT KPOP LMAOOOO. NASTY BEATS, HORN GOING CRAZY, RIDICULOUS FUCKING LYRICS. "rawm pawm pawm pawm when you call my name, rawm pawm pawm pawm talk saxy" is shakespeare to me. i go so hard to this song

algorithm - heejin HEEJIN IS OUT HERE SINGING FOR THE BACK ROW ON THE FIRST LINE!!! seriously i love her voice and i LOVE this perfect pop song - the melodies are all so tight and fresh, the bass is driving, the synth is twinkly and lovely. love it all

guilty - taemin a whole art piece. the vocals...on this song...are CRAZY, taemin really stormed into the booth mad as hell. every note on this song is perfection and i love how all the vocals are layered. this atmosphere is so bleak but sexy, dystopian, rotted in the best way lol

she loves me, she loves me not - taemin speaking of rotted lmao. the catharsis that the chorus EXPLOSION gives me is impossible to replicate with everything else - this song unlocked a new emotion within me. i just love how wrecked and janky this song sounds, coupled with those operatic vocals in the bridge & the end - this song sounds like a mental breakdown trying to be contained and i love it

제자리 (not over you) - taemin the production on this song is INSANE. taemin's voice is so expressive...the way the chorus develops each time, first with the electric guitar that harmonizes with the melody and then with the synths in the final chorus that go so crazy...luv it

오늘 밤 (night away) - taemin mmmmm this song shimmers like stars in the sky. it feels so lovely and taem's voice is so sweet. that run that he repeats towards the end...holy shit right to my heart

melting point - zerobaseone SO CUTE AND COZY...love a song that instantly becomes a winter classic lol. i love the adlibs, the breakdown in the bridge, and of course the catchy hook

take my hand - zerobaseone MMMMM THIS INSTRUMENTAL REACHED A PLACE DEEP WITHIN ME...this arrangement is odd and i live for that. the soaring vocals in the chorus, the lyrics, the picture this song paints are all beautiful

ootd - dreamcatcher CMON NINE INCH NAILS INFLUENCE. MMMMMH THIS NOISY GLITCHY PRODUCTION IS SO SEXY AND DARK. this song is completely sick

wait - dino i LOVE this song. this clever little electronic beat with the sexiest, smoothest drops i've ever heard omfg. this song sounds so FRESH. THE PIANO ALL OVER...THE PIANO IN THE CHORUS AHHAH

미친 폼 (crazy form) - ateez this chorus is sooooo catchy and omfg...this makes me dance like a spell has been put on me...i really love how ateez break up their song sections lol it all feels like such a production

marine turtle - nct u THIS SONG IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! THIS MESSAGE???? the "i see my sea" part knocks me over omfg. absolutely love the scales in the chorus. this entire instrumental is gorgeous and the vocals are so rich

that's all!!! this was genuinely the Worst year of my life but there was so much music across many genres to comfort me, so i’m happy now. kpop releases always have a place in my heart and there was so much good stuff this year.

there are a handful of albums from artists i love that i never got a chance to listen to...i look forward to enjoying them in the new year.

Ley´s Release Corner Jun´22 - Girls Edition (2/2)

My rating is just based on how I like the song and has nothing to do with hate or anything else against an Artist. When I don't like a song it doesn't mean I don't appreciate the work and effort that are put into it.

The MV is really really pretty. I think if I would like the sound of the song more I would love this but sadly I feel like the song is missing something. Maybe the chorus isn´t catchy enough.

"The Journey" is an intro but doesn´t give me much. "Need U" is a solid song. "POSE" is a very nice track I enjoyed a lot. Also "Pale Blue Dot" is very good and I liked it very much. Lastly, "Playback" is very beautiful and I kinda like it as well.

Rating: 6,5/10 for Flip That (Instrumental: 6/10; Vocals: 7/10; Rap: /10; Choreography: 7/10; MV: 7/10; Overall Vibes: 6,5/10)

Rating: 7/10 for the Summer Special because over all there were enjoable tracks but nothing really outstanding

That was pretty nice. It´s their debut and it´s very very powerful and has a girl crush concept and that gets me every time I can´t deny it. I love the outfits and the MV is also very pretty and I´m really hyped up for their next releases. The only thing that kinda bothers me is the line "my hip is like a wagon" I don´t know why it makes me cringe a little bit but it does.

Surprisingly I really like this. Maybe it´s the time of this year I can enjoy songs like this way better or I don´t know what´s up with me. The MV is very colorful and the lyrics are about someone who likes you and before that feeling fades away you want to act on it. Also what´s up with the girl group titles lately? I mean we got "Love Shh!" "Up!", "POP", Flip That" "HIT YA! and again "POP! and they all kinda give the same vibes.

"NO PROBLEM (Feat. Felix of Stray Kids)" is a really uplifting song I really like (and no I´m not saying just because it´s featuring Felix). " LOVE COUNTDOWN (Feat. Wonstein)" is also very very nice. "CANDYFLOSS" is solid but gets a little bit boring while "ALL OR NOTHING" is really enjoyable. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU" is solid again but a bit boring and lastly "SUNSET" is really slow and vibey, would be perfect to chill too but doesn´t give me much more.

This is a nice summer track and especially the MV pull off this vibe. I like the choreography and thieir vocals very much.

"Up And" is a solid song but doesn´t really catch me. "Blind Letter" showcases their vocals very well and it´s a very beautiful track I enjoyed a lot so the song became easily my favorite on this album. Meanwhile "Cheese" has its very own vibe which I think will be a grower and "Rewind" is also a solid track.

Let’s break up,

Oikawa stared at the ceiling of his bedroom with a peacefully sleeping (Y/n) by his side. His mind scattered with the only coherent thought being the thought of breaking off his relationship with his current girlfriend. At this point, He knew it couldn’t stay just a thought and that it had to be an action made in his part. He needed to break things off.

The longer he stared at his ceiling the worse his thoughts got and the twist in his stomach tightened.

Because I’m a bad person, because I don’t love you.

Tooru glanced over at (Y/n)’s sleeping form and felt his heart clench. He knew what he was doing was horrible. He knew he was a horrible person for staying after what he did. He was horrible for not loving her the way he used to. She deserved to be loved but he couldn’t give that to her.

Your shade is darkness to me, goodbye.

Staring at (Y/n) peacefully sleeping, he couldn’t help but feel this disgusting guilt in himself over what he had done and her not knowing anything. It made her once warm, bright, caring nature feel dark and all because of his own guilt. All of this because of something he did to someone who didn’t deserve it. Someone who didn’t know what he did.

Maybe it wasn’t love between us. Was that an unjustified, meaningless relationship?

Tooru rationalized with himself almost every night that their relationship was just a simple, forgettable high school relationship. One that people would call silly in the future due to them thinking it was truly love. He was right, wasn’t he? They were only in high school, it’s not like those relationships last. That’s what he told himself. Though, he knew the truth. He knew that (Y/n) was possibly the best thing to happen to him. That (Y/n) loved and trusted him. She accepted him for himself, his flaws, and never once wanted him to change. She loved him for who he was even though he felt he didn’t deserve it.

The momentary tremble, the momentary joy

Tooru felt like his heart was about to explode as he awaited (Y/n)’s answer. Her (e/c) eyes staring at him wide and her whole face covered in shock. It felt like hours to him as he waited for her to answer. Suddenly, he heard a laugh. A laugh he had grown to love throughout his time getting to know the girl. One that never failed to make his face break out into a smile.

“You’re telling me, the Oikawa Tooru: Captain and setter of Seijoh; Aoba Josai’s idol, is asking me out?” She asked smugly while smirking up at him. “what happened to ‘My only love is volleyball’, hmm?” she chuckled as she referenced what he had once said to a confession he had gotten earlier that year. The sentence alone was enough to make his face heat up in embarrassment.

“You know I only said that to get her to leave me alone!” He huffed making her laugh once more.

“No way! Are you embarrassed, Tooru-kun?” (Y/n) teased. Tooru glared slightly at her response and swallowed back the slight hurt from her lack of answer. “You know what, let’s just forget about this, (Y/n)-chan...okay? I’ll see you later.” He quickly dusted off what he said earlier and smiled to save face from the embarrassment of being rejected. Turning on his heel ready to forget this happened and head to practice.

“Wait, Tooru!” She quickly grabbed his hand, “I’m sorry, I would love to go out with you.” Her voice trembled slightly like she suddenly realized he was serious about his confession. Those trembly words were enough to send his heart into overdrive. Before she knew it, Oikawa scooped her up in his arms and smiled.

“Tooru!” She squeaked out of surprise. There was a beat of silence as he held her and took in the joy of this moment.

“(Y/n)-chan?”

“hm?”

“I’m so getting you back for teasing me earlier.”

Those emotions sometimes become an after-image that torments me

His stomach twisted remembering that day. He remembers the pure happiness he felt when he finally told her his feelings. The days after where he would tease her just to see her get embarrassed, where they would do stupid things together, where they would just want to be with each other for the hell of it. Those once amazing times made him feel sick and he knew he was at fault for it. All because he felt unfulfilled with the endless love he was given. All because he was selfish and wanted more.

Tooru’s eyes stung with tears as he realized the weight of what he had truly done. Just staring at her was causing him to feel guilty. Quickly turning away from her, he stared at his bedroom wall and waited for sleep to consume him.

Let’s break up, because I am a bad person. Because I don’t love you. Your shade is darkness to me.

It was morning after the long night. (Y/n) was in the living room talking on the phone with her mother while Oikawa slowly made his way out of his room. He didn’t want to face her. Last night was hard enough, but he couldn’t tell her no when she asked to stay the night with him. He made his way to the living room hoping she would be to busy on the phone to notice him. He wasn’t ready to talk to her yet. He didn’t want to hurt her but if he didn’t tell her then it would only cause more pain.

but could he even handle that pain? Could he handle no longer having her in his life?

“Oh! Morning, Tooru!”

He was too caught up in his thoughts to realize that he was in the living room. (Y/n) greeted at him with a bright smile and quickly went to end the call with her mother.

Stop it. I don’t want to be sorry anymore. I don’t want to see you being kind anymore. Would you hate me? Goodbye.

Tooru tensed slightly as she ended the call and turned to him once more. She was quick to see his change in body language and tilted her head in concern, “Hey, are you okay?”

That question felt like he was being punched in the gut. He couldn’t stand her caring for him after his unfaithful actions. He couldn’t stand any of the situation anymore. Even though he wanted to wait to have this conversation his guilt was eating him alive. He would rather see her angry and yelling at him than her being so caring after him doing what he did.

“We need to talk” the words quickly left his mouth.

Memories can sometimes wear a smiley mask when the truth isn’t really like that

(Y/n) was quick to agree and sat next to him on the couch. She seemed to notice his off actions. In honesty, He knew she has taken notice the past couple of days. He was avoiding her in the halls when at school. He would only see her in the mornings before class, during lunch, and during practice. Even during those times he wasn’t himself. He wasn’t her Tooru. His usually playfulness was forced. His eyes didn’t match his smile but she never questioned. He knew she wanted to believe everything was fine yet even she knew everything wasn’t fine.

“Let’s break up.” As he said those words, it seemed they both felt as if ice water was dumped on them. It was quiet. (Y/n) stared at him as if searching for reason while Tooru felt his stomach twist knowing her next move.

“Why?”

It was a simple question yet it felt like one of the hardest that Tooru had ever answered in his whole life.

By you, I wish I wasn’t engraved in you mind like a cold you once had. I don’t want be your past.

He felt like he couldn’t answer. He knew that she truly loved him. He knew that this would hurt her deeply. He was someone that was deep into her life, someone that, if they left, would leave a scar on them. He absolutely hated that he was that engraved into her life.

(Y/n) was his best friend before he became her boyfriend. He didn’t want all that to be done. He truly didn’t want to be just in her past and nothing more than a douchebag boyfriend. He didn’t want her gone from his life but he knew that he deserved to just be someone from her past. That she would move on with her life and he wouldn’t be apart of it.

Her gaze seemed to refuse to leave his face as she waited for the answer. He hated that he could already see the hurt in her face. It was probably mirrored on his own. Tooru knew the next words to fall from his mouth would sting the both of them, but it had to be said. It needed to be said.

“I don’t love you anymore.”

Silence.

After a moment, a wobbly pained smile made it onto (Y/n)’s face. “I understand.”, She whispered out trying to cover the obvious pain in her voice. Her eyes were slowly filling with tears that she seemed to be fighting off. Tooru felt his throat tighten and his eyes burn with the same tears as hers. He had no right to cry after the harsh words he said to her but he couldn’t help it.

Now, there’s nothing between us. I don’t want you to try hard to bother me, it’ll be harder for me.

“Can we still be friends?” She asked weakly as she stood from her seat, her body no longer facing him. He knew she was crying and trying not to let him see. That action itself was enough to get a few tears to slip from his stinging eyes. A sob was bubbling in his chest but he forced it down.

Could they still be friends?

He pondered over it before. As much as he wants to still be in her life, he knew he couldn’t. Every time he would look at her, he knew he would feel guilt and the pain of his own actions. Looking at her alone would make him want to hug her and tell her he was sorry hundreds of times, and he knew she would forgive him; but he didn’t deserve forgiveness. He needed to suffer for what he did to someone who deserved nothing but the world. Even if it meant losing an old friend.

After a long silence, she knew his answer. Once again, she nodded as if she understood and quickly cleared her throat. “Okay then...Goodbye, Tooru....” The sentence died at the end of her throat as if she had one more thing to say but couldn’t bring herself to say it. Tooru got up and walked her to the front door. He refused to meet her eyes as he opened the door for her.

“I love you” were the only words she said as she swiftly left.

Will I be okay by myself? Will I be okay without you? I’m afraid, but the longer we hold on it’ll be more painful.

That night Oikawa laid in his bed, chest aching, eyes red from tears, and phone in hand .He questioned himself millions of times after what happened. Staring at the picture of the two of them on his home screen kept taunting him with the questions if he would truly be fine without (Y/n) in his life. Someone he considered his best friend. Someone who taught him that it was okay to not be the best. Someone who didn’t judge him if he broke down from the stress of everything.

Deep down he knew that if he never broke it off, (Y/n) would only suffer more. That he would suffer as well but that his suffering was deserved. He was selfish but he couldn’t let someone innocent be in pain because of his infidelity. If he had held onto her, she would no longer be the bright light that others needed.

Slowly, Tooru turned off his phone and closed his eyes finally letting himself sob. Letting himself understand the loss he caused and the pain he gave someone he deeply cared for.

Let’s break up,

Months have passed. Time has moved on, but Oikawa hasn’t. Everything still hurt as fresh as the day he cheated. The day he ruined everything.

No one noticed though. On the outside, Tooru was still that happy-go-lucky, flirty, confident volleyball captain that girls loved. No one could tell that he was still suffering from his own actions months ago. The only one that was ever able to tell when Tooru was faking was (Y/n) and she has moved on, no longer apart of his life.

Wondering the halls, He was quickly pulled to stop when he heard a familiar laugh. One that he used to love but now only reminded him of his disgusting actions. He should’ve kept walking but he couldn’t help himself. He wanted to know how she was, if she was happy, if she hated him, he didn’t care. He wanted to just see her once more.

I don’t want to be sorry anymore. I don’t want to see you being kind anymore. Would you hate me?

As his brown eyes made their way towards the sound, he spotted her.

She looked happy and laughing with a friend of hers. His heart felt like it was squeezed when she looked over in his direction. What was going to happen? Would she instantly ignore him? He wouldn’t be hurt if she did.

But it didn’t happened.

(Y/n)’s eye met Tooru’s and she smiled. A smile that held no malice, no pain, no anger. She lifted her hand and gently waved in his direction, the soft smile never leaving her face as she did so and with a small nod in his direction, she walked off with her friend.

Tooru felt sick. He felt confused. Why didn’t she hate him? Why did she still treat him so kindly? Seeing her treat him kindly hurt so much worse than if she hated him. He wished she would hate him. If she hated him, the pain would stop. He did nothing but hurt her; yet here she was still treating him with that warm, bright kindness that brought him to her in the first place.

He stood staring at the spot she once stood and with his heart aching realized that he was finally just someone from her past.
