Kaz is my favourite morally gray character because

He's a horrifying crime lord, but it is solely because he wants to avenge his brother

He did give Wylan his father's empire, but mainly because he hated Van Eck

He won't hurt children, but he will graphically threaten them (not just to adults, but to the child's face)

He gave Jesper a ticket out of the Barrel, but drags him back into criminal activities

He does things that could be argumentally be seen as "improving" the Barrel, but he vehemently against the idea of cleaning it up

He may do things seen as "good", but he always has a second personal and/or criminally inclined reason for it

He would never personally deal with slavers, nor purchase indentures, but he will deal with bawds/pimps

He dropped someone from a lighthouse, but it was because the person was blackmailing a prostitute

He did graphically threaten the family of a child, but he did it as an alternative to killing the kid

He graphically described what he "did" to Pekka's son, to Pekka, but he never actually did it

But also: He didn't actually bury a child alive, but relished making Pekka distressed and terrified

He let Wylan find out about his mother being alive, but he sent him in blind and it resulted in Wylan having a panick attack

He went to rescue Bo-Yul Bayur, but solely for the payout and what he could do with it

being a middle child is strange. it’s not the worst sibling to be, i’m aware of that. no sibling has it the best. i do feel invisible though. it’s a cliche but it exists for a reason. the older siblings have the weight of rules, standards, and their younger siblings. it’s expected of them to be better than us. the younger siblings get the least amount of rules because by then parents think they’ve mapped out just how to be parents so everything that the eldest got has been dampened, worn out. the youngest gets ridiculed most often by siblings, there isn’t much of a reason for this other than the fact that it’s just how it goes. but the middle child, there are more responsibilities than the youngest but there is the expectation to be like the oldest. once the younger siblings come along we are immediately second place to any attention we had been given previously. you aren’t the baby, younger children need to be watched over, younger children need extra care. it’s so easy to still love your child but direct all of the care to the child less capable. who wouldn’t? it isn’t really the parents fault but it sets up the dynamic to be second place in anything. the middle child will lose the the oldest but win to the youngest, but the victory doesn’t feel accomplished because you weren’t good enough. you weren’t first. as a middle child you are never first, so it becomes an expectation. some middle children build up anger for this without a single apparent reason. they are just angry. they just need love. i know that my oldest siblings are required to be better than me but the parents fail to see that i cannot be them. you cannot have that child again, i am a new child and i am losing. but of course if you do bad in something and then in the following year your younger sibling does phenomenally with it, then you lose. it’s never said straight up but, the truth is there. as a middle child you lose.

Will Solace always says he's a bad singer but at the same time his father is the god of music and Naomi is a professional singer. I absolutely refuse to believe he can't sing. My personal headcanon is that he's actually a great singer.when he sang to open the doors of Orpheus flowers grew so my headcanon/theory is at when he was super young he started singing one time and it was so beautiful that it brought his mother to tears. Our lovely idiot. With low self esteem issues simply saw the tears and thought 'Oh my gosh I sing so bad my mother is crying' and he simply swore off singing ever since. if he has to sing for healing purposes he sings super quietly so no one hears him. if you do end up hearing him you'll just be absolutely blown away and brought to tears.

I just finished tsats and I love this Book so so much. The messages, the pacing, the characters, the dynamics are just so good and well made.

It's a Book of healing. For those who can't see the light and are stuck in the Darkness they find within themselves. There's an alternative, a choice you Can make. Being safe and creating around you help you in Times of need m. But do not choose loneliness, sadness, isolation and misery just because they are familiar. You are just hurting yourself and others.

Your Darkness are not to be vanquished or conquered. WE just have to learn to live with them, so our loved ones Can accept and love them too.

I'm so happy Nico is having his happy ending. Like Hades said, he deserves everything.

A special shoutout to Will Solace, my coup de cœur in this Book. I've learned to know him more and he's so human, kind and loving, a litteral Ray of sunshine.

It is so funny how people are using the word "intrusive thoughts" to describe random but really normal thoughts. Their "intrusive thoughts" are thoughts about dying hair or some cute and random things like this.

Intrusive thoughts, those that are unwanted, are thoughts that tell you to break a dog's neck out of nowhere. They are thoughts that tells you it would be good to throw yourself on the rails. They are thoughts about kicking anything (chairs, bed, anything...). They are intrusive, unwanted and disgusting. They make you disgusting with yourself. That's why they are intrusive. Not dying yourself or shopping.
