Whumptober Day 3

No. 3 A HAIR’S BREADTH FROM DEATH| Gun to Temple | “Say goodbye.” | Impaled BnHA: Midoriya gets impaled by falling debris while doing hero work

This was it.

His hands grasped uselessly at the pole going through him.

This was it.

His legs braced against the ground and tried to push.

This was it.

His attempts were useless.

And all of them hurt.

He allows himself to stop trying, wills his muscles to unclench and stop resisting, and feels himself sink onto the debris a little further.

The situation he’s in is pathetic. Impaled by a flying metal pole. It would be hilarious if it didn’t hurt so fucking much. It reminds him of the pain of his broken bones except worse, as every move he makes amplifies the pain and makes it roar back stronger.

And there’s no one to help him. He’s alone in this section, far away from the epicentre of the explosion that left all the debris in its wake.

The little girl he managed to save stares at him with wide eyes, tears pooling in them. Gods, what is he even supposed to say to her? She looks so lost, as lost as he feels at the moment.

“It’s okay,” he stutters out through gritted teeth. “It’s going to be alright, but I need you to run, okay? You need to get out of here.”

It takes a few repeats of the same message for the girl to nod resolutely and run.

And then he’s alone with his pain, nothing stopping him from crying out each time it worsens.

That’s it.

Shigaraki Brothers - Part 1/2

It's been a while since I've drawn anything related to Under the Knife, but recently I've just been having so many thoughts about Izuku and Tomura in this AU, I thought about introducing some of Izuku's past with a pair of comics... finishing one page alone is like a miracle for me, so I'm praying I have energy for the second part ahaha

Honestly lately I've thought about this AU so much more, and I want to also start sharing some of the worldbuilding I've made, details about Izuku's quirk, more about the plot, character relationships, things along those lines!

I do think blocking* is pretty important in crochet to get the shape you want, but if what you're crocheting is a lil guy, it can feel pretty whumpy:

(*aka making what you made wet, stretch it or manipulate it into the shape you want, fixating it w needles and then waiting until it dries, or as I like to think of it, drowning them and then nailing them to the floor until they learn to behave)

rewatching s1 ep7 where they show the childhood bkdk and damn izuku had some strong willpower to endure katsuki's attitude. the sequences made my heart HURT... i forgot that this is how early the river hand scene was introduced. even showed that katsuki was calling him izuku till he came up w deku TCH WHAT A BRAT. but still pretty darn amazing to actually reflect on how katsuki changes throughout the series.

Let's start with a whumpee who has a super close relationship with caretaker. Could be platonic, could be romantic, could even be a therapist and patient.

But due to some unforeseen events, whumpee is very abruptly taken away from caretaker in some way, shape or form. Could be a kidnapping for more torture, could be that they were friends at school and whumpee had to move away, a therapist that can't take whumpee's new insurance, online friends but caretakers account got banned or the servers they were in together got deleted or even simply just-- caretaker stopped coming online someday.

Knowing that the (presumably) permanent split up is inevitable and quickly approaching, whumpee tries everything in their power to try and squeeze in one final goodbye. Desperate to at least have some semblance of closure. Even when they know the odds are against them, even when they believe it's stupid to try, even when they know that failure to get this will absolutely shatter their soul into 1,000 teensy tiny little bits and make this feel 100x worse than it already does... they try anyway.

But for whatever reason, no matter how hard they try, no matter how much they plan, it simply won't happen. They try to call, but the battery is dead. Maybe their cellphone service is experiencing a major outage. Same with wifi. Maybe caretaker is absent the last day before whumpee moves away. Maybe whumpee only found out last Friday that the insurance they were switching to wasn't even accepted, and that was after therapist's office closed too. So they have to nervously wait for two days, and wake up way earlier than usual to call in on Monday-- which is the last day of the month and the last day of acceptable insurance-- just for a tiny sliver of a chance to schedule a last minute appointment to say goodbye. But uh oh! Looks like the service provider is being a little shit! Time to go troubleshoot it for f o u r h o u r s, with their chances and hope dwindling away by the minute.

Uh- *ahem* yeah- something like that, maybe.

I think a scenario like that could absolutely crush some whumpees. The angst potential would be *chefs kiss*. So many tears would flow, man. Not-- that I'd know from experience or anything! Noooooo! Neverrrrrr!!

Memories (Ch. 2: Deku)

Fandom: My Hero Academia Links to Chapters 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 Summary: They'll probably write memoirs about all this. That or they’ll pay someone else to. When they're all retired top heroes, of course, ready to share their life stories with the public they’ve spent their lives protecting. Who knows? It might even inspire the next generation of crime fighters! Maybe they'll even throw together a neat little scrapbook or something as a class this year and give it to Mr. Aizawa as a gift. For now, it'll just have to settle for rattling around in their brains every once and a while. You know. Like memories do.

Deku remembers cold hard marble

Pressing against his hand

Face smushed

Nuzzling into the soft silk of his sleeve

Scattered sand and dirt scrapes his palm and finger pads

As he runs a thumb against his notebook’s torn pages

To steady himself,

Deku says

Inko doesn’t believe a word of it

Either way,

She snaches his hand

Before he even sets his bag down

Crinkles her nose

Staring so hard

He swears she’ll see right through him

Swipes her thumb

Right underneath the cut

Tilts her head up

Catches his crybaby virus

Holds him close to her chest

And she does not get it

But she understands

And that’s enough for him

Unamused eyes bear into him

Kaachan’s haunt him till the bell rings

Kaachan haunts him till he perishes

Bleeding out on some unnamed battlefield

Weeping so softly

No one hears a sound

He shakily brings himself to his feet

Frantically wiping at hot tears

Eyelids stringing with dirt

Rough and raw

Cheeks burning in…

Shame?

Embarrassment?

Fear?

Frustration?

He could never tell back then

Harsh sobs no longer stirs up pity and concern among his desensitized peers

No longer impress

He’s done it too many times

Maybe he ought to make a note of that in his notebook

"Ah, pick one. I can't choose." Yagi said as they drove into the plaza with different restaurants and food trucks. Autumn air flooded the car as they drove around the lot with the windows down.

"W-what?" Izuku stuttered, his mind flooding with fog as he was forced into old memories.

"You get to choose the method of punishment. I'm being nice here, Nine. If you don't hurry up I'll just throw you back to the lab." Sensei said clinically. The basement was drafty. Cold even. Dusty air wafted the smell of blood and cleaner into his nose.

"I- um." Izuku pondered his options. There were 5 or so options, each sickeningly familiar.

The saw, a limb removed for the day. They grew back of course, but it took time and energy, and sensei only did it when he was truly in trouble.

The needle was always full of some hallucinogenic. Sensei also assured he'd have a bad trip, as was evident by the fact it had only been used twice before sensei deemed it for an extreme wrongdoing.

Usually, the scalpel meant he'd be getting injuries he had to let heal naturally. Either from Sensei or from Shigaraki. They were never severe, and honestly Izuku knew they would go easy on him because they loved him. Another disintegration handprint would be incredibly annoying to deal with though. He needed to wash it out completely to avoid continued disintegration.

The last option was Izuku's least favorite, truthfully. The knife. Izuku would have to kill a dozen simulated humans. He couldn't just stab them either. He had to kill differently each time. It destroyed him every time.

"The.. blindfold?" The blindfold simply meant he had to go through daily tasks without his senses. Eyes were blindfolded, ears covered in muffs, hands in locked gloves that blocked his quirks and sense of touch. It was hell to him. Shigaraki and Sensei would often attempt to attack him while he was unable to stop them. But, it was the least limiting in a way. He wasn't zapped of energy from intensive healing, he wasn't high off his ass, and he could keep his morality.

"do you really think you deserve to get off that easy?" Sensei scoffed, almost amused.

"I- no-no sir! Um how about the- the scalpel?" Izuku nearly shouted, waving his arms frantically.

"let's do both then." A glint of malice crept into the man's expression, as he forced Izuku into the gloves.

"w-wait!" Izuku protested slightly, jolting as his vision was blotted out by the blindfold.

"no, I don't think I will." The last thing he saw was a powered up fist coming towards him.

"Izuku? Are you okay?" Izuku was torn out of his thoughts by Yagi's voice.

"ah. Um. Yeah I just got lost in thought for a moment. Can we have hamburgers? I know you like those!" He blinked back tears that had formed in the corner of his eyes. He was safe. He wasn't there anymore. He was okay.

"Sure, my boy." Yagi said with a sympathetic smile.

bakugou has delt with a number of sacrifices.

allmight’s end, jeanist getting impaled during his rescue, and even aizawa who got hurt right after bakugou went in the first war saying “it’s out turn!” after he remembered aizawa sticking up for him during his kidnapping. he carries ALL OF THAT, due to his past mistakes but also them correcting it and guiding him so that he can be better (allmight telling him he gotta save to win, jeanist telling him to see the world, aizawa supporting his dream and putting faith in him). it’s all interesting to think about tbh, how he more than any other character understands that burden of sacrifice for the person on the receiving end. kinda beautifully tragic if you think about it

Now "he more than any other character understands that burden of sacrifice for the person on the receiving end" ;o; ........meaning he, can fully emphasize with and understand the burden and precise self-sacrificial feelings that Deku carries (even more intimately self-aware of the feeling, from surviving/learning from so many direct experiences, than him). :')) So yes, it is interesting!
