Op sorry for asking outta the blue but. How did you do that shading itz very good
justomg ;^: thank you, i want to first say that im in no way an expert and that i havent been able to reproduce the same level of shading consistently but ill try to explain it anyway. Also im guessing you mean the omori drawing i did.
I use (an old version of) paint tool sai
the first step is drawing whatever you want, i started out with a simple cube
i prefer not using lineart at al, so i clean up the sketch and recolor the lines using the preserve opacity tool just so that theyre anything but black (or gray).
color your object and set up a light source, this could be anywhere you want, for general shading i reccomend using the default brush tool, proceed with coloring the parts where you think the shadow would be using a slighty darker color than your base color.
do the same thing for lighting (now with a lighter version of your base color ofcourse)
ITS VERY IMPORTANT TO START WORKING WITH BIGGER BRUSH SIZES AT THE START AND SLOWLY MAKE YOUR WAY TO SMALLER SIZES DURING THE PROCES, with these bigger brushes you can establish shapes instead of lines.
This part just boils down to practice, keep on trying diffrent ways to include shapes and colors into your painting.
Now that we’ve done the general shading we’ll add some fun lighitng using cell shading.
color the part thats directly under light on a difrent layer with whatever color you want (i tend to only use yellow tho) and soften the edges using the blur tool, after that you change the opacity of this layer to fit whatever intensity you want.
do the same thing with shadows (i tend to either use dark blue or purple for this one)
i hope that helped a bit, just in case heres a very helpful tutorial for beginners:
