Marvel Fic Recs (Peter Parker)
These fics are all Peter-centric. Some are ships and some are just about Peter Parker.
They all have happy endings and are completed <3
As always, mind the warnings and tags. Happy reading!!
-----
Another Chance (Series) by  Lyri46   Rated: NR, G, T, M   282k (all works) (Spiderpool, Stony)
(Post-Civil War, Pre-Infinity War) Tony is determined to get his team back. But there's a lot of breaks that need fixing, and with new and old threats on the horizon, can the team heal enough to face them in time? Or will they break apart again?
If you’re looking for a fic that’s long, with wonderful avengers team family vibes, adorable Peter and Tony relationship, and some Spiderpool and Stony to top it off, look no further. Seriously, I always find myself re-reading this because it is so great. A little crack-y, but I think that adds to it. There’s a little angst and stuff, so mind the tags, but definitely a great read. 10/10
I’m Your Dad by DragonSoulWorld  Rated: T   49k
Peter Parker is Tony Stark's son! After Tony run a routine DNA test on Peter, he discovers he is his son! Having missed the first 15 years of Peter's life, Tony is determined not to miss anymore. But Peter feels insecure, and fears Tony doesn't really want to be his dad. Tony & Peter navigating their new father-son relationship.
This one is just super good cuz I’m a sucker for the father/son dynamic of Peter and Tony. It has angst, which I love. 8/10
Villain Irondad and Hero Spiderson by Winterturtle  Rated: T   48k
He was Tony Stark. Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist. He was all of those things. But there was one more thing no one knew about him. No one knew his alter ego.
He was Iron Man. The supervillain terrorizing New York.
~~~
(Tony grew fond of the local pain in the ass known as Spider-Man. Villain Irondad and hero Spiderson)
This one is just a really fun parallel ‘what-if’ universe that still has the father/son troupe I love. 7/10
Just gonna let ‘em hate by StarryKitty013   Rated: T   367k
It’s not like anything changed much.
Peter is usually great brushing off all the shit everyone gives him for being himself. It usually doesn’t matter what they think; what anyone thinks really.
So why is it getting so hard for him to do that recently?
I loved this one because it has A LOT of angst. Basically, Peter had a shit life and is found by the Avengers who kinda hate him. They try and atone for it once some important info comes to light, though. (don’t wanna spoil, but def worth the read). 9/10
14,000,606 by Herrin26   Rated: NR   81k
There were 14,000,605 outcomes of the Infinity War with only one where the good guys won.
But what if there was one more just after Strange stopped?
With the fate of the universe at stake Peter held true to the words he lived by.
"With great power comes great responsibility."
AU where Peter takes the stones, dust Thanos, and Tony has to live with someone else sacrificing themselves for him.
I love how this explores a possibility of Tony Stark living while staying canon-compliant. It follows their dynamic of Peter saving the world instead of Tony all the way through Far From Home. 8.5/10
A Peter Parker Problem by spagbol99   Rated: T   176k
Peter Parker was back from the dead. At least that is what everybody told him. He'd been snapped out of existence until some sort of time travel and an active death wish by his mentor had saved him and the universe. Just your average sort of life for a 16 year old from Queens.
Peter comes back to find May has a husband and a kid. A new family he has to fit into. But he has done it before, he can do it again.
The only thing that feels solid is Tony: the Blip and fatherhood have mellowed him and Peter loves the bond they have now. He knows Tony would be there for him through anything. But Tony needs to focus on his own recovery - not small time Peter Parker problems. When things at home take a turn for the worse, Peter decides that he'll handle it himself. He is Spider-man. He's been to space and fought aliens. He can get through anything. After all, if May is happy, he is happy, right? Right?
When I say mind the tags, I mean it with this fic. It deals with child abuse and a lot of angst. Basically, Peter is alone in a world that kept changing when he was snapped away. 7/10
Astronomy in Reverse by  pansley   Rated: T   184k   (Stucky)
A year after the Winter Soldier failed his mission in DC, Bucky Barnes is doing his best to stay under the radar from both Hydra and Steve Rogers. His hope for a peaceful day-to-day life in limbo goes awry, however, when he meets Queens’ newest hero; a pure-hearted kid with a death wish and a ridiculous pair of red and blue pajamas.
The last thing Steve expects when he finally tracks Bucky down is that, not only has the man been living in Queens all this time, right under his nose, but also that, in the two years since they last saw each other, Bucky somehow acquired a kid.
Alternatively: How Peter Parker effectively fucks over Bucky Barnes, and also totally saves him.
I love Bucky and Peter’s dynamic in this one. Basically, Bucky adopts Peter when he finds a kid who can barely fight on the streets. Peter doesn’t know who Bucky is until Steve and Tony come to ‘rescue’ him. 8/10
Peter/Harley Fics:
Once the Battles Over by Impala_Cherry_Trickster   Rated: M   61k
The Battle is over, and now Peter has to deal with the fact that Tony Stark is very much alive. With the Avengers all living in the Tower, Tony navigates the fact that a lot has changed in the past 10 months.
This fic holds a dear place in my heart as an intro to Peter/Harley fics. What if Tony was in a coma after he snapped and Peter needed to save him with the whole avengers fam there to help? 10/10 a classic
it’s always who is spider-man, never how is spider-man by i_regret_thatpersonalityquiz   Rated: T   175k
"Stay?"
Peter finally looked down to see Harley Fucking Keener, Iron Lad, the boy who had caused his shoulder to be throbbing all night, looking away with a slight tint to his cheeks. Peter opened and closed his mouth, no sound coming out.
And he sat back down.
OR: Peter had been living on the streets, dealing with your average homeless vigilante stuff. Things got a bit more complicated when the Avengers started to chase him down.
I’m obsessed. Spiderman is painted as a villain by SHIELD so they kidnap him and find out he’s a child, so then they adopt him. 9/10
-----
I’ll add more as I find them cuz we both know I’ve barely scratched the surface of Peter Parker fics :)
Teen Wolf Fic Recs (Sterek)
...Because I’m re-watching the show and am now in a hole :)
All fics have happy endings, are complete, and are on the longer side  >53k
As always, mind the warnings and tags. Happy reading!
------
Baking My Way into Your Heart by theSilence   178k
Derek is an uptight college student, all work and no play. His carefully scheduled life is thrown kilter when his regular barista is replaced with someone new.
This is literally my fav sterek fic I’ve found so far. Talk about slow burn, wow. It’s a college AU, but has everything from pack goals to tooth-achingly fluffy moments,  I constantly read it and it never gets old. Absolutely wonderful! 12/10
When I’m Gone by MissYuki1990   108k
Stiles is leaving. For good if he has any say in it. He gave everything to them and received nothing in return, so who can blame him for wanting to leave and find his place in the world. Apparently? Everyone and their uncle.
Stiles is such a badass in this one by the end, and who can resist a little angst in the beginning? 8/10
The Feelings That I’m Under by wearing-tearing   294k
Stiles is a paramedic and Derek gets into a bike accident. It's kind of love at first sight.
I cry every time I read this. It’s an AU, but focuses on how much Kate fucked him up. Stiles is the biggest cinnamon roll and Derek’s family is amazing throughout it. 9/10
I know that you love me, even when I lose my head by LunaCanisLupus_22   135k
“We’re not mates, Cora,” he insists. “I mean look at him-“
“Ouch,” the kid says, no longer pushing that shit eating grin.
“He’s- he’s,” Derek tries, at a loss of how to explain why this can’t be possible. Why it shouldn’t be possible.
Or the one where Derek gets attacked by hunters, ends up with amnesia and forgets Stiles is his mate
The obligatory amnesia fic, at your service. Stiles and Derek are mates, but Derek gets amnesia. Hurts in the feels, but Stiles is such a badass and Derek is basically along for the ride that the ending totally makes up for it. Plot is strong and there isn’t a lull at all 9/10
We Are All We Are by  Takara Phoenix   83k
After everything with Gerard, Stiles wonders where his place in the pack is. Or rather, to which pack he belongs and what is going on in general. New faces and the threat of an Alpha pack are really not helping him there. So now he’s stuck-- once again-- rescuing a bunch of werewolves while trying to deal with his own feelings not just romantically, but friendship wise because he really needs to help Scott sort things out.
Kind of crack-fic but has some plot! Basically just entirely packmom!Stiles. It’s a feel good fluff piece, essentially. 7/10
stuck in reverse by crazyassmurdererwall (smartalli)   65k
Look, Derek is the worst. Everyone knows that. Their fearless leader is a total and complete failwolf.
Which means the rest of them? Are kind of the worst too. They’re a ramshackle, slap dashed, sorry excuse for a pack that’s about a half second away from getting one of them killed. And this is a problem, because Stiles would really like to survive high school. Thanks.
Still, nobody deserves what Derek has gone through. Nobody.
And it’s about time somebody told him that.
Basically, Stiles goes with Derek’s pack because Scott is kinda an asshole in this one. Jackson is a GOAT tho and totally makes up for it. It’s cute. 8/10
Sound of Setting by SilverFlameAlchemist   30k
“Is she a mermaid? Did you find a mermaid on your doorstep? Why didn’t you just say so, man, what—who is she? Why are mermaids turning up at your place with bullet wounds in the first place?” “She’s not a mermaid,” Derek explained (far too) calmly. “She’s a siren.”
This one has it all, fluffy moments, crack, and a good plot. I love the OFC in this one. Definitely a good light-hearted read for fun! 8/10
Lead Me Wild (series) by iamthelightning   158k (in total)
Beacon Hills is the newest target in a pattern of attacks on werewolves designed to 'out' them as a violent threat to humanity. Derek Hale should have more important things on his mind than wondering what Stiles Stilinski sounds like getting fucked into a mattress.
Another all-time fav of mine. If you are a fan of angst, this series is perfect. The first part sets up the plot (kind of crack, but the plot is definitely there), but the second part is kind of entirely angst that features Derek’s classic self-pity. Kind of graphic, so mind the tags in part two, but definitely worth a read. 9/10
With Feeling (Series) by Crimson1*   53k (in total)
"Derek Hale, if you refuse to learn from your past…then you will be doomed to repeat it." In which Derek is turned into a 16-year-old and has to stay with Stiles until they figure out how to turn him back.
What happens if Stiles fell in love with Derek when he was 16? It’s super cute and sweet. 9/10
*Love this author, btw!! She writes amazing ColdFlash fics if you like that ship and wrote a phenomenal Supernatural fic on FFN called Incubus (sorry for the shameless plug, I’m just obsessed with this fic)
------
I have more...like, a lot more : )
Teen Titans Drabble
Just me testing the waters with some BB/Rae and a fight scene with Slade 😊
"Titans, Go!" Robin's voice somehow boomed in the fellow Titan's ears despite the ringing chaos that encased Jump City. Everyone leaped to action.
"Star, fly above and try to distract Slade. Raven, teleport Cyborg over to the bomb. Be on standby if there's a fail-safe to encase the explosion. Beast Boy, help Star. I'm going to try and find his bots' power source and destroy it. There has to be a kill switch." Robin's voice flowed through the static of their comms and nobody hesitated with their mission. Starfire flew overhear and began raining her star bolts into the chaos as Raven teleported herself and Cyborg to the bomb which rested in the heart of the city surrounded by hundreds of Slade bots. It was a good thing they evacuated the city. No civilian could've survived this.
Beast Boy turned into a gorilla and began smashing robots between his hands and feet as Robin stalked back into the warehouse they discovered Slade's hideout.
"Rob, we got trouble. The fail-safe is worse than we thought," Cyborg's frantic voice came through the comms, "it doesn't decrease time. It increased the blast's radius. One more failed attempted and Raven won't be able to hold the bomb."
"Shit."
"It's ok," Raven said, "I'll absorb what I can. The rest of you need to evacuate. Worst case, the explosion will demolish the block."
"And kill you in the process!" Beast Boy's shout can be heard as he transformed into a Rhino.
"Don't cut another wire, Cy. Raven, you're not dying. Let the timer run out and encase the blast in your energy." He said. Cyborg confirmed.
"Jokes on you, Robin," Slade's voice wafted through the comms.
"What?" Cyborg muttered as Slade hacked his technology so he could speak through the communicators.
"I never said there was one bomb. I only said the city will fall. Every failed attempt you're robotic friend made activated another bomb in an unknown location across the city. Each bomb with less time and a higher radius than the last." Slade's laughter could be heard.
"Face it, Robin. I win!”
"Raven, stay with that bomb. Beast Boy, abort distraction and find the other bombs. Get them to Raven. Cyborg, without cutting anything, try to diffuse the bomb."
"Robin, get them all within a block of me. I can encase the whole block and contain the entire blast of them all." Raven assured.
"You can do that?" Cyborg asked outside of the comms to her. Raven sighed.
"I'll need to be inside when the bombs detonate, but yes. Everyone else will be safe."
Twenty-eight minutes passed, but it felt like twenty years. Robin successfully unactivated all the slide bots by killing the original copy and with the aid of Starfire and Beast Boy, Robin was able to subdue Slade into unconsciousness. Once the bombs were taken care of, he'd call the JLA to take him to proper prison where he'd never see the light of day.
"We're running out of time, Rob," Cyborg said. "We got twenty seconds."
"Are all the bombs within the same block?" Robin asked. Everyone confirmed.
"Okay, Raven get out of there and use your magic to hold the blast," Robin said and god, he sounded so relieved and proud they won.
"Um, Rob, man..." Cyborg began.
"Robin, in order for me to effectively contain the blast, I need to be at the center of the shield."
"Friend Raven, what are you saying?" Starfire asked over the comms.
"No! Raven!" Beast Boy could be heard.
"No!" Robin shouted. "When were you going to tell me this?" Robin shouted. "Abort mission!"
"We can't abort, Robin. We are running out of time." Raven said. There were ten seconds left.
"No, Raven!" Cyborg gripped Robin tightly as the shorter black-haired boy tried to break the bigger man's grip and run to the shield that was slowly encompassing the block.
"Raven," Starfire sighed and let tears roll down her eyes. Beast Boy came to the group in crow form and glanced between the black ball forming and his teammates. There were five seconds left.
"I'm sorry guys," he whispered.
Four seconds
Beast Boy jumped into the black orb.
Three seconds.
Cyborg and Robin and Starfire screamed his name desperately.
Two seconds.
Raven was sobbing in the center of the orb. She saw Beast Boy and gasped. "No! You can't be here!" She screamed.
One second.
"Raven!" "Beast Boy!"
The blast was rough and bright and hot. Raven felt her eyes slide shut and her mind fade to silent darkness.
"Raven, come on, you gotta open your eyes! Rae, please. I can't lose you, c'mon!" Raven slowly let her eyes fly open in time to see her black shield disintegrating. She looked up to see Beast Boy letting out a sigh of relief as he clutched onto her for dear life, folding her frail body into his surprisingly unburnt arms.
"What?" She asked, somewhat disoriented. Raven looked around confusedly at the rubble but couldn't focus that well. She probably had a concussion.
"You idiot!" Beast Boy said seriously, staring her down and pulling from the embrace. "I can turn into any animal in the fucking world; kimono dragons included. Next time you want to embark on a suicide mission, remember the fact that I can literally grow fireproof skin and protect you!" Beast Boy huffed shakily. "Everyone probably thinks we're dead."
"Beast Boy," Raven whispered. He saved her! In the background, Raven can see the other Titans racing toward her. Before she'd be whisked away to medical with Cyborg and bombarded with affection from Starfire and probably an interrogation from Robin, Raven leaned over, mindful of the cracked ribs she can feel her exhausted body trying to heal and placed her lips securely on Beast Boy's. She could feel his body tense in shock before relaxing and kissing her back. It was a quick kiss, over within seconds of starting and Raven pulled away, sighing contently and leaning her head on the man's shoulder.
"Thank you," she whispered, emotion overwhelming her and some rubble exploding into smaller rocks to her left. Her eyes drifted shut into pleasant darkness.
IronDad and SpiderSon Drabble
Warnings: injury, cursing, angst, Stony (ship), Spiderpool (ship)
This is a snip-it of a larger piece.
When Peter made his way to the official Avenger’s tower, it wasn’t a surprise to be greeted by Tony, Steve, and Bruce in the lobby. His leg was still sore and would be for the next few days, but thanks to Deadpool’s stitching (surprisingly neat and medically trained stitching) the skin was already starting to heal itself. Honestly, what Peter needed most in that moment was some painkillers.
“Peter!” Tony’s shout was paired with a surprising hug from the billionaire. Peter stumbled back and only winced slightly He had changed into his street clothes after stopping at his apartment really quick and the harsh jean fabric rubbed awkwardly against his makeshift bandage of some gauze and medical tape. Tony pulled back at the sound of Peter’s wince. He looked like he wanted to say something, but Steve came over quick and gripped Tony’s shoulder.
“Bruce, would you mind taking Peter up to medical? I’m sure some painkillers and a change in bandage would suffice,” he said sweetly and gave Peter’s shoulder a caring squeeze as Peter limped to follow Bruce to the elevator. Steve turned to Tony.
“He was shot!” Tony whispered angrily. “Don’t you dare tell me to calm down when Spiderman was just shot under my watch!” His nostrils flared and Steve gripped Tony’s shoulder to make him face the blonde.
“Peter is fine, Tony.” Steve said lowly. “He wasn’t on your watch. This isn’t your fault. There are dangers and risks to being a hero; you know that.”
“I should take the suit away again.” Tony decided. “He deactivated every single safety protocol I installed. How?! I made them triple hack proof. Friday couldn’t even hack it! Clearly he doesn’t understand the importance of any of this if he thinks—“ Steve shook Tony slightly and placed a finger to his lips. Tony huffed out a breath but stopped talking.
“You know better than anyone that Peter is brilliant. Didn’t you just say to me yesterday that he reminds you of yourself at his age? And no, you’re not going to take the suit away.” Tony looked like he wanted to interrupt but Steve shook his head. “No, you won’t. Because the last time you did that, he went headfirst into enemy lines and nearly died without any protection. We are going to go upstairs, and talk to him—listen to him—before making and decisions. Clear?” Steve asked as if he were talking to a child. Tony clicked his tongue.
“I hate it when you treat me like a child.” Tony muttered, turning and heading for the elevator. Steve placed a kiss on Tony’s hairline and wrapped his hand into Tony’s.
“I know,” he whispered, smugly. Tony rolled his eyes.
“I’m still lecturing him, though.” He muttered. “Damn kid is gonna give me gray hairs.” He puffed as the doors closed.
Steve and Tony found Peter and Bruce in the medical floor of the tower. Peter was sitting on an exam bed with his pants off and Bruce stood over him, typing on his tablet with the bullet wound on full display.
“—did a good job. You said the bullet was still in you? I’m glad whoever helped was smart enough to notice no exit wound.” Bruce was talking to Peter and Peter was nodding along. They stopped talking, though, when Peter caught sight of Tony and Steve. He looked down in guilt.
“What’s the update, doc?” Tony asked Bruce. Bruce handed Tony the tablet as the billionaire looked through it, humming every few seconds in distaste before focusing on Peter.
“You’re an idiot.” He snapped. Peter opened his mouth to grunt out an offended sound and moved to defend himself but Tony held up his hand.
“No, it’s my turn to speak right now.” He said and God, this felt like Vulture all over again. “It’s one thing to get injured in a fight. It happens all the time, really. No big deal.” Tony shrugged. “But this?” He waved the tablet over Peter’s body and bullet wound. “This is a big deal because sure you got shot in battle, defending the innocent, but instead of doing as you’re told and letting Karen send the emergency alert to Friday so we could help, you go and override not just the emergency protocols, but all the protocols!” Tony was shouting now.
“Did you know there’s an emergency protocol to filter your air when an untraceable gas is emitted into the air? What happens if a bad guy comes and shoots out some poisonous gas that’s odorless and colorless? Now, the oxygen filter is only accessible by voice command and you can’t command it if you’re dead!” Peter flinched at Tony’s outburst. Bruce was looking down at his feet and Steve was watching in sorrow. Peter looked down. Fuck, he screwed up.
“I-I didn’t—” Peter tried thinking of what to say to fix the situation, but nothing came to mind. He fucked up.
“No, you did. That’s the problem.” Tony said. “You did hack into my suit to take out your last line of defense. You did go against what I said about laying low and get yourself shot. And you did prove exactly my point; you’re not ready to be an Avenger.” Peter spasmed as if he were slapped.
“Tony—“ Steve took a step forward.
“No, we agreed I won’t take the suit away, but I need to know exactly what was going through your head when you dismantled my safety protocols and when you decided that team-ups with Deadpool were suddenly okay!” Tony said sternly. Peter sighed and cast his eyes downward.
“I hacked into the suit for the first time a few weeks back. I like learning about the suit and Karen only knows so much so I got in the habit of taking it a part and seeing how it works,” Peter ignored Tony’s grunt of disapproval, “a few weeks ago, I noticed you had some more child-lock protocols in place. Karen said I would hardly notice them and should leave them in place, but—“ Peter paused, “after our talk the other day, I was just so sick of being treated like a kid! I don’t need child-locks or monitors to keep me in check! I’m twenty years old, I’ve been doing this for six years!” Peter exploded. “I figured if I barely noticed they were on, I wouldn’t notice they were off. After a fight with a mugger, I realized the protocols I busted were the ones that had a direct line with Friday. They were surveillance protocols.” Peter bit out. “I’m not a child and I don’t need to be watched 24/7!”
“They weren’t in place to watch you, Peter, they were in place to alert me if, oh I don’t know, you got shot and needed medical attention!” Tony yelled.
“I’m fine, aren’t I?” Peter yelled back. He was sick of this. Why can’t Tony see that while he was in a dangerous position last night, he’s fine and could handle it?!
“Barely!” Tony shot back. “Who knows what happened with Deadpool!” He growled. Peter glared.
“He’s the one who helped me, actually.” Peter grunted. “He took the bullet out and stitched me up. He let me crash at his place and everything!” Peter yelled. Tony paused and Peter got the distinct feeling that that was the wrong thing to say.
“You were with Deadpool all morning?!” He shouted. Peter groaned in frustration.
“We had this conversation!” Tony all but shouted exasperatedly. “Deadpool is a bad guy. I don’t care what you think you know about him; you don’t know him. He’s a psychotic killer!”
“He’s not that bad, you know!” Peter interrupted. He knew, logically, that getting into a screaming match with Tony Stark would just end in someone storming off and words being spit just for hurt’s sake. It was a mistake, essentially. But Peter didn’t care.
“‘Not that bad’?” Tony scoffed. Steve had a look of concern on his face, almost certain that this was going to end badly but not knowing how to stop it. “He’s killed probably more people than the Avengers saved! He’s unhinged and unstable. There’s a reason we don’t work with him and there’s a reason he isn’t an Avenger, Peter.” Tony said sternly. Peter practically growled.
“There you go again, dangling that around!” Peter bit, suddenly losing sight of Deadpool in the argument and focusing in on Tony’s words. “You keep telling me I don’t know what it means to be an Avenger and maybe you’re right, maybe I don’t because her I am—a willing participant—and there you are, telling me to fuck off! Screw you! I’m not some kid you need to shelter from the world—I’m not your kid!”
“Peter—“ Steve tried to intercept from a different angle only to be cut off by a dark laugh from Tony.
“You wonder why you’re not an Avenger? You can’t even see danger when it’s right in front of you. You’re right, you’re not my kid, but you’re my responsibility. If you want to act like a child, I have no problem treating you like one. Friday, initiate ‘timeout’ protocol.” Tony said impartially. Peter glared at him.
“What is ‘timeout’ protocol?” He gritted out. Steve shook his head in disappointment.
“Tony, I told you not to take away—“
“I’m not,” Tony said in his cool and collected tone of indifference, “this is one of the protocols that Karen isn’t even cleared to know about, therefore, you can’t disable it. You can keep the suit, but it won’t turn on until I say so. You want to act like a child? Great, go to your room.” Tony snapped. Peter glared with a fury he didn’t know he was capable of possessing. His skin boiled and his heart drummed in his ears.
Without a word, Peter stood up, ignoring the pain in his leg and Bruce’s petitions to sit back down. Peter stepped up into Tony’s space and glared.
“I don’t know why you can’t trust me to make my own decisions, but fuck you.”
Peter hobbled out of the room and to the elevators. He wasn’t too worried about his leg; like Bruce said, Wade did a good job stitching him up and the wound would probably be closed by tomorrow morning anyway.
“Mr. Parker, I am under authority to try and redirect you back to the medical wing or to your room,” Friday’s voice carried through the halls just outside the elevator.
“Are you really going to make me take the stairs?” Peter asked. He just wanted to go home. There was silence for a few moments until the doors swung open and Peter stepped inside.
“Thanks, Fri.”
A Spideypool Drabble
An excerpt from an unpublished spideypool/avengers family fanfic and wondering if I should get around to finishing it and posting on AO3
“Why do you kill people?” Peter asked suddenly, feet dangling over the edge of the building and Wade’s body slowly healed back into its proper shape. At first, he didn’t notice the young Spider; didn’t expect anyone to wait with him while he healed. The decapitation was bloody and stomach churning to say the least.
“Why do you kill people?” Peter repeated. “You saved that guy tonight. We both know he didn’t deserve it. Why didn’t you kill him?” Wade sighed as he cracked his bones back into place.
“Yeah he was a bag guy, Spidey, but he isn’t the worst. I only kill the worst.” Wade said as if it were his duty.
Peter sighed and stood up, not saying a word.
[He’s mad now. This has to be a record for fastest fuck up since dying.]
‘Oh great,’ Wade thought, ‘you’re back already.’
[Bingo bitch]
Wade watched Peter get up and walk the edge of the building, too deep in thought to even look at Wade.
“What if we made a deal?” Peter asked suddenly. Wade looked at him.
“As nice as that ass is, Webs, friends with benefits isn’t really my style.” Wade couldn’t help but joke. He watched Peter trip over his own foot before bouncing off the ledge and in front of Wade.
“No,” Peter sighed, shaking his head. “I mean, a... hero deal.” He amended.
“You want to patrol with me, right?” Peter asked. Wade nodded slowly. God, patrolling with Spider-Man sounded like a dream.
{Imagine the places we could have sex!}
[yeah, like he’d go for that.]
“What if I let you patrol with me but only if you stop killing?” Peter asked. Wade looked at him as if he was more spider than man.
[Fuck that. He’s pretty but not that pretty.]
{Meh, I’m still down for it.}
“Hot Cakes, I don’t know how new to this you are, but mercenaries kill. It’s what we are literally paid to do.” Wade said. He watched Peter nod.
“Yeah but why are you a Mercenary?” He asked Wade shrugged.
“Someone’s gotta get those fuckers off the streets.” He said. Peter nodded.
“We aren’t that different, you know.” Peter commented as if he was letting Wade in on a secret. The older man scoffed loudly.
[Oh really? Ask him to show us his scars! Or better yet, have him jump off the building and go splat to prove his healing abilities!!]
{Calm down, White. Asking him to strip for a full body inspection is perfectly fine.}
“How so?” Wade asked. He watched Peter shrug.
“We’re both doing what we can with what we got to make the world at least a little bit of a better place?” He phrased it more like a question than Wade suspected he meant to.
“Look,” he backtracked, “I know you don’t like killing people. You do it because you have to because you think it’s all you’re good at. But that’s not true. You saved someone’s life today. And you didn’t even kill the bad guy! Let me help you keep doing good. I know you liked it.” Peter finished. Wade didn’t really know what to say. Help him? Nobody has ever helped him in his life.
[Stopping us from killing isn’t helping.]
{Neither is pointing out all the depressing shit. Shut the fuck up, White.}
“Spidey, as fun as that sounds, I’m kind of a lost cause.” Wade said. Peter shook his head violently.
“No, you’re not! You think you are but you’re not. Everyone thinks you’re this horrible killing machine, but you aren’t. Let’s show them that you can be a hero. That you are one.” Peter said earnestly. His and Tony’s argument about Deadpool being too dangerous started floating back into his mind and all that did was push Peter harder to convince Wade that he wants to help.
“What’s in it for you?” Wade asked suddenly. Peter shrugged.
“You mean besides stopping you from killing people and helping to add another hero to New York City?” He joked.
“Yeah,” Wade said seriously, “why are you so hell bent on me not killing people?” Wade asked. Peter shot him a clear look of ‘are you kidding me’ and even through the mask, the eye roll was loud and clear.
“I’m not going to lie and say stopping you from killing isn’t a driving force in this,” Peter paused. “But you aren’t like the Avengers. You make your own rules and do your own thing. You make a difference even if I don’t approve of your methods.” Peter shrugged.
{There’s more to it than that. Get him to tell us.}
“So you admire what I do but not how I do it?” Wade summarizes. He saw the Spider shrug.
“I started this whole superhero thing when I was young. Probably too young. Sometimes I feel like all the Avengers see is that kid who just got his powers last week and can’t make his own decisions. You don’t treat me like that. With you I’m an equal, not just some kid.” Wade was silent. He didn’t really know how to respond to that. It was pretty low on the severity scale of self-depreciation—
[You wrote the fucking book on self-depreciation.]
—but that didn’t mean Wade was impartial to the feeling of inadequacy. In fact, it was probably his best friend.
“Sorry,” Peter said suddenly, as if snapping out of his daze of self pity. “I just dumped that on you when I probably shouldn’t have. I mean, I don’t know what you’ve been through but I heard it wasn’t by any means easy. You probably think I’m pathetic; complaining about how the Avengers don’t like me. As if that’s as bad as the end of the world.” Wade shook his head.
“No,” he said. “I think the Avengers are the pathetic ones here.” Peter scoffed.
“I want to help you, Wade.” Peter whispered, looking back out over the nightlife of the city. “I know you’re a good guy and I want others to see it too.” He said. Wade looked at Spider-Man. It was the first time he ever said Wade’s actual name.
[Don’t do it.]
{Do it.}
[No!]
{Yes!}
“Alright, Baby Boy. Let’s say I agree to your little deal—“
[Fuck you, Wade.]
{Yes!}
“—what does it entail, exactly?” Peter shrugged.
“We patrol together, basically. And you don’t kill anyone.”
“That’s it?” Wade asked. Where’s the catch?
“Yeah, pretty much?” Peter shrugged. “When word gets out you’re teaming up with Spider-Man, maybe people will start realizing you’re not such a bad person.” Peter shrugged. Wade nodded.
“And when the news outlets start reporting their pure innocent Spider-Man is getting corrupted and brainwashed by the evil Merc Deadpool?” Wade asked. He heard Peter snort.
“Have you read the Daily Buggle? Jameson wants my head on a stick. He’d probably spin it so you’re the hero the city needs and I’m so horrible for stopping you.” Wade snorted.
They were silent.
Streets were still bustling below despite it being nearly dawn. People weren’t joking about New York being the city that never sleeps.
“So what do you think?” Peter asked suddenly. Wade leaned back on his heels and clicked his tongue.
[Wade think about this. No more killing means no more money. No more money means no more fun expensive toys to blow shit up with.]
{Idiot, he’s already got millions in the bank. Quitting now isn’t going to make that shit disappear.}
[Its a bad idea.]
“You got a deal, Webs. Don’t make me regret it.”
Wade suddenly felt the pressure of a hand in his. He looked up at Peter who kept his head down and squeezed the fabric covered palm. Peter squeezed back. And for the first time since Vanessa, Wade felt content and the voices didn’t speak.
Lots of love <3
