Happy romance week! I thought I'd celebrate some of the couples in my books so far <3

Lydia and Tori meet in book 1 of Reckless Truth and quickly orbited around one another. Lydia admired Tori's softness despite her trauma (and the fact that she could absolutely tear someone in half if she wanted to) and Tori admired the depth and passion of Lydia's protective nature. They are sickeningly sweet and I can't wait to give them some more spotlight later in the series

Boundaries you should have in the workplace?

I can't say I have a perfect list of all boundaries that should be put in place. I am still early in my level of experience, especially in corporate workplaces. You will also learn what boundaries need to be set with time.

These were some of my do's/don't's during my internships and other part time work I have done:

No dating, whatsoever! I know it's tempting but I'm convinced it does more harm than good.

Don't be quick to set alliances or jump to the defense of others. You don't always have the full picture and if that person is secretly known as a "troublemaker" you will be grouped with them.

Make sure that people know what work you're doing. If you've been asked to handle something for an account make sure the lead for that account knows that you have helped. A simple "Hi, just letting you know I'm doing xyz for the account. Let me know if there are any specifics I need to include". will do. I had an account executive take credit for my work during my last internship (embarrassing for them) and luckily another AE pointed it out and I got the credit I deserved, so protect yourself in advance.

Be friendly with your co-workers, but not friends. By all means go for lunch with your coworkers or for drinks after work, but they are not your closest confidant. Your co-workers should not know about your deep and personal issues.

As a person of colour, do not let anyone pressure you into being the token "EDI Lead". If that's your passion, go for it, otherwise politely decline because of "capacity" or say you'll think about it.

I feel like this is particularly pertinent in the UK; avoid talking about politics. It's so divisive here and honestly a lot of people are undercover Tories so just avoid sharing your political opinions in general. When the Queen died I had to hold my tongue so much.

Don't actively engage in gossip and badmouthing. You never know, the person you are badmouthing may become the person you need most in your role. Once you start badmouthing and forming these cliques, things become messy and uncomfortable, and you could easily get reported and disciplined by HR.

Don't get drunk at work events or after work drinks. It's honestly not a good look at all, especially if these events also include clients. Even if you see other people doing it, control yourself - trust me, they don't look good.

Do not consistently work overtime. To your managers that is an indication that you have poor time management skills.

Biography:

Tori Brightheart was kidnapped before she was old enough to remember anything, and taken to a secret facility somewhere in Scotland, where she was enhanced and trained to kill. Unlike the other children who were taken, however, she knows exactly how old she is and, at the very least, who her father was. When she was a child, her papa, a policeman, came to find her. He'd tracked her down after her kidnapping and discovered the facility she was taken to. Unfortunately, the Controller also found him, and brought him in to see her. They told her he was there to hurt them and Tori, not knowing any better, panicked. She killed him, and it wasn't until her fellow soldier, Ivy, saw the police badge he'd given Tori and reminded her about her father's occupation, that she realised just what she'd been made to do.  

While Erik's tragedies at the facility turned him into one of their strongest soldiers, Tori's did the opposite -- she fought and begged and refused to cooperate until the Controller agreed to train her as a healer; deciding it might be useful to them.  

As a healer, Tori was taught that her own life was worthless. Her only Purpose was to keep the people around her alive, at the expense of her own life if necessary. Despite having arguably the most vicious and unyeilding training, Tori prides herself on her healing ability, seeing it as the one thing she was able to choose during her time at he facility.   Still, she was curious. What else had she been forced to forget, besides her father? One night she managed to sneak into an office and hack their computers, learning that files were being kept on each and every one of them; finding out her age and that her surname was actually McCrae.  

She was dragged away before she could find out much more, but it solidified in her mind what deep down she already knew: they didn't belong here. There were homes and families waiting for them somewhere in the outside world, and she grew determined to find them. She fought to escape, and one day succeeded with Erik, teleporting them away in a risky move that paid off and landed them right by the lake they now call home.  

They were free -- or so it seemed.  

Two years after they escaped the facility, she met a boy named James. They got close, and one day, he asked her to dance. Erik got her a dress especially for the occasion, and she saw it as the final sign that she was actually free now; she'd found her life and her prince and everything would be okay. But she was followed - soldiers from the facility stormed the party. Tori only just managed to hide in time, but they shot James to pieces. When they left, he was already dead, but Tori still tried to heal him and was left in a coma for three months. A week after she woke up, Erik found her with a gun to her head, and only just stopped her in time.   From then on she became nervous and reclusive - moreso than before - and Erik vowed to protect her always. It took a long time for her to regain her sense of wonder about the world, and when she did it was muted; hesitant and afraid. Still, she yearns to live a 'normal' life; to find her prince and live happily ever after.

O bairro da Liberdade não é um bairro japonês há décadas. Imigrantes de outros países se estabeleceram na região e com o passar dos anos a gastronomia foi incorporando costumes de outros países e se adaptando ao gosto do brasileiro. Natural que isso aconteça. Ao mesmo tempo, é legal conhecer um lugar que segue tradições. Eu gosto do Kidoairaku pois ele é um porto seguro para a tradicional gastronomia japonesa. Comida muito boa e atendimento extremamente gentil. Basta uma visita para você sentir-se em casa. É o tipo de lugar que me faz querer ir para almoçar e jantar no mesmo dia. E o fiz. Entre meus pratos preferidos, gyutan ponzu ae (R$ 58), uma levíssima língua bovina em cortes fininhos e acompanhada de molho ponzu. Entrada perfeita. Outro prato incrível, o tori kara su jyouyu (R$ 42) tem frango frito suculento, pele crocante e um delicioso molho à base de shoyu, vinagre e cebolinha. Fritura perfeitamente equilibrada pela acidez do molho. O katsu karê (R$ 96) tem curry estimulante e espesso enquanto o porco tem empanamento correto e sequinho. O tempura moriawase (R$ 150) poderia ter vegetais em cortes menores. Depois de algumas mordidas o bom empanamento se desfaz. Entre as opções de pratos frios, destaco o sashimi moriawase (R$ 120) com uma seleção dos 12 melhores peixes do dia. Peça sem salmão e é felicidade garantida. Destaco também dois pratos de uma visita anterior. A nasu dengaku (R$ 90), berinjela com missô grelhada na brasa é fenomenal. Os sabores adocicados, salgados e o leve defumado da brasa abraçam uma berinjela macia e carnuda. O agedashi doufu (R$ 35) tem tofu de sabor mais neutro em um ótimo molho à base de shoyu, nabo ralado e cebolinha. Caldo para beber até a última gota. Vale dizer que os pratos de maior valor servem com facilidade duas pessoas. O conjunto deste post alimenta 4 ou 5 pessoas, fazendo o Kidoairaku um lugar com bom custo-benefício.
