Ahsoka Episode 4 Spoilers/Thoughts
This was...a big one, to say the least.
Also note to self do NOT open tumblr while in the middle of watching an episode or you will be spoiled for that epic ending *sobs* oh well...
SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT
2/2 Star Wars characters repairing ship wiring on their back...v nice
Sabine, you realize none of you would be in this position if you hadn't squirreled away with the map in your tower...jus sayin...
"Can I count on you?" Yeah I'm gonna say that's a no...
Sabine loading her blasters is super cool but also giving me flashbacks to trying to reload staple gun or nail gun cartridges and hoping you don't launch them into your face in the process
Natasha plays Sabine's nervous energy very well and Rosario is showing Ahsoka's own unease, reserve, but also very caring concern, extremely well. I really wish we could see the history between these two--animated in between series anyone??
I wonder why Dave doesn't bring up the fact that Ahsoka owes Ezra her life. It's only focused on what Ezra means to Sabine, but he means a lot to Ahsoka too.
Huyang's lil hands on hips...you can tell he's a full practical build here.
Speaking of...I REALLY want to know if the practical robot was used for this fight scene, or if they switched to someone in a costume/CGI. It seems like the HK droids are people/CGI but I could be wrong about that. Either way, go Huyang go!
It's always a treat to see Mandos and Jedi fighting styles together. And Sabine's Wonder Woman vambrace block was great.
Ahsoka's white lightsabers are so stunning in live action.
"May I make one request of you both?" LISTEN TO HUYANG. HE KNOWS WHAT'S UP. "Stay together." And WHAT ARE THEY NOT GONNA DO SMH
"Mom, how come I have to do what I'm told and you don't" lmao
Jacen is so spunky and I'm so glad Dave is having him be a full part of the series.
Carson Teva my man! And Brendan!
BUT WHERE ARE ZEB AND KALLUS. WHERE ARE OUR MARRIED BOIS
"Faith? I lost that a long time ago" Baylon's backstory pleaseeeee. Who was his master. How far did he get in training. Was he knighted? Did he have a padawan pre-order 66? Where was he during the war? Where was he during Order 66? When did he walk away, and what did he walk away to? What are his goals now? How did he find Shin/why did he want to train her? We desperately need a comic or a book here Lucasfilm
The graphics for the countdown clock (and the droids manning them) are super cool
Shin dear lord can you be any more dramatic
Sabine and Shin running off like rabid wolves while Ahsoka is just like, oh please, do I really have to deal with this right now
Ahsoka > any inquisitor, dead or alive, magic or real, anytime, any place, any age LOL
Ugh the parallels to Obi-Wan and Maul are impeccable.
So I totally knew Marrok would be a nobody/throwaway character but a nightsister necromancer ghost??? Did not see that coming at all. Eerie
Shin seems honestly disturbed by seeing Marrok fall. I wonder if the body that was used was someone she knew or had a connection to.
The lightsaber usage in this show is so interesting and such a unique blend of samurai techniques, OT trilogy techniques, and more realistic stabbing and swiping and slicing motions. I love the choreography and cinematography of Shin and Sabine going at it as well as how the trees and landscape are used in their fight.
Looks like Shin got her dramatics from her master. Sitting there with his hood up for effect lol
Definitely getting flashbacks to Ahsoka's sass in her fight with Maul in TCW.
Baylon's textured armor is so incredible. I want to see him leading a 13th century cavalcade
Can he read people's minds? Or does he do in depth research like Thrawn does so he knows the weak points of his opponents?
“One must destroy in order to create.” No. You are incorrect sir. One must die. One must morph, must change, in order to create. But that is different than destroying.
Again with the one saber. It's such an odd choice for Ahsoka to do that, and it honestly feels like an excuse for Baylon to be able to overpower her later. I don't quite like it.
It is very interesting how Baylon views Ahsoka, and tells her that her legacy is death and broken promises. What exactly does he think her legacy is? Because that is Anakin's legacy, not hers (at least through Rebels). What has happened since then?
He looks so sad, honestly.
There's way too much leaving oneself open to attack in this episode.
The fight scene definitely looks slowed down a little, and it's a little clunky, but man Baylon is brutal with his saber. Again why is Ahsoka not using both of hers to combat is strength??
Either there's a trailer shot that never made it into this fight, or Baylon and Ahsoka fight again. I'm missing where she kicks back against one of those tall rocks and flips over. That was such a cool shot.
I honestly can't believe Shin was able to block the whistling birds lol. That would be an intense hit to the face. Also I love how much of the shots and sparks in these shows are practical. It makes it feel so much more real.
The map burning Ahsoka is wild. It makes sense but very unfortunate.
Hot damn Ahsoka! She definitely was tapping into some anger there. In real life that hit to the back of the head should have seriously injured Shin. Filoni is really being gritty and brutal with the fights in this show, they're raw and dirty in ways that the trilogies were not.
Aaaaaand while I know Ahsoka isn't dead yet (there's no way Filoni would kill off the title character halfway through a first season) holy cow that was heartwrenching
Baylon is a master manipulator. He makes Maul look like a babbling teenager. And yet he doesn't seem to derive any twisted pleasure from it. He just is doing what he thinks he needs to do.
I'm sorry Ahsoka had WHAT to do with Sabine's family dying???? In the Purge??? Ugh geez that's awful.
Gah DAMN it Sabine!! C'mon girl!! Bad decision, bad decision!
WHAT IS THIS GREATER GOOD BAYLON
I would have loved to see Obi-Wan face off against Baylon. The quiet patience and calm strength...too much for one room
He is just not done digging at Ahsoka is he. Again, master manipulator, but why?
Huyang's little magnifying glass!
Dave definitely nailed the lighting in this show. Even if the volume is still apparent in some shots, the lighting is finally dialed in and soft and realistic and atmospheric. That shot of Baylon after decimating the map is epic.
Yeahhh, Hera, ya'll might want to skedaddle right quick before you get....oh, too late....
"Mom? I've got a bad feeling." Me too kid, me too.
"Lady Wren, Lady Tano" *sobbing* Hera make sure Huyang makes it back pls
This transition.
Oh boy
I know what's coming bc I got on tumblr too early but OH MAN
ahhhh it's so gorgeous
it's here, it's finally here and it's BEAUTIFUL (The World Between Worlds, who did you think I was talking about, Anakin? ;)
I'm KIDDING ANAKIN IS BEAUTIFUL TOO OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE MY EYES
"Hello Snips" I can't I truly can't
"I didn't expect to see you so soon" so is she dead? Dying? Disassociating while drowning? Dave if you kill Ahsoka off in this show I will never forgive you
She is in shock omg look at him she is reunited with her brother, her master, her friend!!
We think--DAVE WHAT DOES VADER THEME MEAN. DAVE, SIR, HOW DARE YOU KNOW HOW TO LEAVE US ON SUCH A CLIFFHANGER IT IS UNFAIR.
Welp I have no idea what to do with myself until next week and we find out what's going on here. I swear if that's not the real Anakin I will be beside myself.
Let's get ready for flashbacks folks. What an episode.

Thoughts while watching Ahsoka Ep 4!!
(wow was this a rollercoaster, get ready for a lot of caps lol)
Seriously so in love with the set design
I’m gonna say it, I love Rosaria’s Ahsoka, she’ll never top Ashley’s but I love this portrayal of grown up, v traumatized, had to mature way faster than she wanted Ahsoka
Seriously this cinematography and set design is gorgeous
Ooooo mysterious droids
Utterly obsessed we get a live action night sister like so fucking cool
FALLEN JEDI?!? THATS THE EPISODE TITLE???? Fuck me
Gawd Sabine’s armor in live action is so cool
Ugh Ahsoka is so traumatized over Anakin. My wittle babygirl
NO HUYANG!!!!
UM OK POP OFF HUYANG THROWING HAYMAKERS LIKE A CHAMP
Is that the first ever droid brawl in Star Wars??? Absolutely amazing
SABINE USING THE BESKAR
A JEDI AND A MANDALORIAN
I LOVE AHSOKA WITH HER WHITE SABERS
“Stay together. You always did better that way. In my opinion” PARALLELED TO OBI WAN’S “we’ll be fine as long as we stick together” SOMEBODY SEDATE ME OH MY GOD
Jacen 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Oh my god Hera bringing Jacen and pulling the “when you’re a general but for now you’re my kid” line what a freaking boss ass mom
CARSON
Lord almighty Ray Stevenson was so good I’m so sad he isn’t able to enjoy this fucking killer performance he delivered
Oooo great robe drop Shin
Oh my fucking god do I love Ahsoka’s cocky slow eye flick to Marrock she is so good with the quiet confidence (that’s so Obi-Wan by the way)
Yo this fight choreography is fucking sick
AHSOKA PULLING AN OBI WAN AND MAUL IN THE DESERT AYO FILONI I SEE YOU
Fucking Jedi and their dramatics with robes lol
COMING OFF THE BAT WITH AN ANAKIN MENTION OHOHO BALON
“Really? He never mentioned you” AHSOKA YOUR ANAKIN IS SHOWING
Do you think Anakin and Obi-wan’s force ghosts are munching some popcorn positively giddy watching their padawan sass and slay like a legend?
How dare you mention her walking away Balon
Yes babygirl slay
Um such a good tennis match of dialogue here between Balon and Ahsoka???
Oh my god she’s so fucking beautiful 😭😭
Absolutely in love with the quiet of this scene, hearing the hum of the lightsabers and Ahsoka’s steps as she circles, felt so meditative and suspenseful at the same time
This happened so long ago but so funny that Marrock was the subject of every pre-series theory and he ended up being just some dust dude lol
Very cool shot of Sabine’s helmet in the forefront as Sabine fights with the lightsaber in the background
Yasss use that beskar Sabine
“Your legacy and your master’s is death and destruction” Balon come over I just want to have a chat
Ohhhh your padawan is potentially dead and you lose all focus?? Wonder where you learned that from Ahsoka
Smart move Balon going right for the family feels
Oh fucking hell Sabine honestly? He’s a white boy with blue hair he’s not worth it
Love the noises the map makes, sounds like a video game
JACEN’S FORCE SENSITIVE LET JACEN BE FORCE SENSITIVE
THE WORLD BETWEEN WORLDS?!?!? THEY ACTUALLY DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok but the way my eyes immediately welled up when “Hello snips” echoed
Ok the fucking eye acting with the “Hello snips”?? In a split second she went from cool, calm, collected Ahsoka assessing her bizarre situation to surprise, eagerness, and youth in a split second
IT’S HAYDEN’S VOICE OH MY GOD IT’S HAYDEN’S VOICE HAYDEN SAID SNIPS IM GOING TO THROW MYSELF OFF OF A BRIDGE OH MY GOD IM SOBBING
IT’S. ANAKIN. HE. IS. STANDING. RIGHT. IN. FRONT. OF. HER. FOR. THE. FIRST. TIME. SINCE. BEFORE. MANDALORE. estar guars
thinking abt darth jar jar and how he’s physically yoda’s opposite (long and gangly vs small and stout, floppy fin ears vs soft pointed elf-ish ears, red vs green, long taut marshland dinosaur face vs circular soft wrinkled face w large eyes, clumsy sloshing/drunken fist vs measured and calculated movements) and how a simple change of body language and voice could easily turn his goofy-esque frame into something way more intimidating. He’s already taller than the human characters, so if he straightened his back and squared his shoulders he’d be quite imposing with that alone. I also think his long floppy gungan fin-ears could potentially frill out like that one lizard and that would go crazy. What looks like a soft duck bill would peel back to show sharp teeth, claws for catching fish now much more sinister looking, same with his eyestalks and the yellow tint they have. I always hated how his feet are weirdly stout and not some kind of froglike webbed situation but then again when you think abt how nimble hippos are in water despite having those same kind of flat stump feet i guess it could work. His typical outfit almost makes his hips seem round and heavy, kind of that goofy silhouette again with a cartoony potbelly, but that extra weight that makes him look approachable could be shriveled away over time/as his plans progress, like how palpatine gets fucked up during he and mace windu’s confrontation in ep 3. I’ve always been partial to the idea that jar jar was darth plagueis and he learned how to escape death (unbeknownst or otherwise to his apprentice, sidious) by either plain bodysnatching a nearby outcasted gungan or potentially, if we were to rmr ep 9 despite how ludicrous it is and how much i hate it, he could’ve latched onto a force sensitive person and had them spontaneously reproduce and birth him, like palpatine apparently had shmi do w anakin. I think if lucas had had his friendly voice be less like a loud nasal honk/squeak and not in that forced and kinda 😬 space-patois, his original arc could’ve been preserved and his presence would be more tolerable. Bc i get that he wanted him to be unassuming but it just swung too far in that direction and made him loathesome rather than sneaky. I think his post-reveal voice should’ve been a sort of gravelly reptilian hiss too, really spooky that way but still making sense w his biology as opposed to a generic Evil Guy Voice. I also think the king gungan should’ve looked more like the rest of them lmao instead of looking like another species entirely, maybe with different coloring or some sort of frill/crest to make him stand out, like how queen bees look slightly different from regular bees.
Speaking of, i wish they had padme not be a teenage queen but then also say that naboo apparently has elections. Either she’s a teenage monarch from a royal family thrust into power v suddenly like king tut Or the planet has free elections and someone maybe a parent was elected to a position of power. I get that they didn’t want to do another princess after leia but she could’ve been an ambassadors daughter or smth who went into politics herself once she was old enough and it would’ve made way more sense. Maybe this is elaborated on more in the eu but as far as the movies go it’s just kinda funky and messes with my suspension of belief more than droids and space magic ever could.
I also think when it comes to baby anakin in ep 1 that choosing to make him sort of…idk over-competent was the worst mistake when it came to his character. If midichlorians were going to be involved it would’ve been way more interesting for anakin to have a low to nonexistent mc count and that be the puzzling aspect, not the opposite. It would’ve been way more interesting to see him struggle to keep up through the events of ep 1/being constantly compared to other padawans and that be why the council discounts him so readily, even when he’s grown. I always wanted him to be saved from maul by obi wan more directly, maybe even with obi having to choose between him and qui gon, with qg urging him to protect and train anakin and sacrificing himself to buy them time to escape or smth. it’s like lucas felt the need to prove anakins legitimacy to us when like…we already know who he’s going to be lol there was no need for that, and having him be vulnerable and be a traumatized child instead of a self insert for the kids in the audience/george himself would’ve been way more emotionally poignant and also call the jedi order’s abducted child soldier practices into question way earlier, bc the movies don’t touch on that enough imo even when their other flaws (aiding and abetting a hawkish neoliberal regime, repressing emotions to the detriment of everyone around them, relentless bureaucracy and top down hierarchy, general aloofness and lack of concern towards the galactic citizens they snatch force-sensitive younglings from) are more evident. I did always love the yellow cruiser he flew in ep 1 though lol it’s v elegant. But I wish Naboo had been a little more adventurous with its architecture bc it just looks like the venetian hotel sometimes. It’s just a letdown when the gungan city was so cool.
Anyway. the masculine urge to blame all of sws problems on toy merchandizing.

My friend has never seen a Star Wars movie so I thought it’d be funny to write down her reactions:
(P.S. started with the phantom menace)
- she thinks the battle droids waists are snatched
- she actually complimented the special effects which makes me happy
- laughed when Jar jar came on screen (I think she likes him)
- said that the ocean animals are scary and they probably do exist in the deep ocean
- questioned the treaty and trade federation and why they even want to stop trade from Nabor
- said and I quote young Anakin has “rizz”
-questioned why a grown alien was picking on a 10 year old
- I told her that the Star Wars fandom was toxic and the actor playing Anakin in this movie got bullied and she got sad (understandable), after she kept complimenting his performance
- called Obi-wan’s braid a “rat tail”
- during the race, she literally went to the edge of her seat and was getting into it (side note, I forgot that the first half of this movie was about the podrace)
- got really sad when Shmi told Anakin to leave, told him to go back (if she only knew)
- “this dude took forever to find them” (at maul)
- questioned why Samuel l Jackson is in this movie and asked if it was him twice
- at this point, she cannot tell padme is the Queen
- gasped at valorum losing power
- when yoda said his “leads to suffering line” said he was taking it a step too far
- gasped when palpatine became chancellor
- “what about the other dude?” - said when quigon said he’d take Anakin as a padawan
- “what are they going to do with the child?” (About Anakin)
- “what do they even want with this planet? Is it worth it?” (About Naboo)
- “the Queen is intense but nice” she really doesn’t know about padme
- she did ask if obi-wan’s lightsaber would change colors once he became a Jedi knight which you know, is a valid question
- it happened, padme admitted she was Queen and my friend literally said, “what?!”
- “epic!” (When the gungans agreed to be friends)
- Her: “that bodyguard is really putting her life on the line” -Me: “that’s her job” -Her: “I guess”
- “give the 10-year-old a gun” (when they were discussing capturing the Viceroy)
- “green light saber dude should’ve strapped Anakin to his back, why is he there? Couldn’t they dropped him off at a house?” (When the attack begins)
- “the Queen is it it” and yes, she was
- smiled at the wilhelm scream
- “how are these dudes going to fight the yellow dudes?” (Gungans v droids)
- “they really have to assemble the army huh?” (At the droids taking their sweet time to form)
- “he’s more of a liability to his own army” (to jar jar)
- “double sided, not fair” (when maul shows up again)
- “aren’t sith just evil Jedi? Shouldn’t 2 Jedi be able to take the red dude?”
- “Jesus, what is he doing?” (At Anakin when the ship takes off)
- “Is Anakin going to die in space?” (I don’t think she knows that Anakin is darth Vader)
*Next few are about duel of dates
- “where are they? This is not the same place”
- “I want one of them to touch a lightsaber. I want to see the damage”
- “that man is flying” (at obi wan)
*gungan battle
- “how is he not dead?” (To jar jar)
- “boomer”
*anakin storyline
- “he’s not having a good time”
- “I feel like r2d2 should have some weapons on him. Shoot the people”
*back to duel of fates
- “what are these force fields protecting? The core of the planet?”
-“if obi wan really wanted to get in the battle then he could’ve tried”
- gasped when quigon died, “what?! This can’t be it”
*padme storyline
-“everything is going wrong. He died. They got captured.”
- “they just have guns in the chair?”
*duel of fates
- “every time there is evil, the evil is always stronger. Not fair.”
- “kill him. Or at least close to death” (at obi wan for maul)
- I had to explain that jedis Can kill. She thought it was Batman rules
*anakin and gungan storyline
- “Anakin is the only pilot that got inside?”
- “do they run on wifi? They need a better router”
*duel of fates
- “Im telling you he’s flying.”
- “he’s not going to stay dead, right?” (Despite seeing mail cut in half, she has doubts)
- “this doesn’t make sense. He’s an apprentice”
- “isn’t the wound catarized?”
- (when quigon speaks his final words) “No! If Anakin becomes evil, im going to be angry” she really doesn’t know anything about Star Wars
- “this was just one movie, will” asked me his name, “quigon show up again?”
- she hasn’t even noticed palpatine and the chancellor are the same person
- “I hope this guy doesn’t become evil and didn’t use her to become the leader” (about the chancellor)
- “yay” when Anakin become obi wans apprentice
- “they just burn him? What? Do they at least keep his ashes?” (About quigon)
- “is that your childhood crush?” She knows I had a crush on Anakin skywalker it it was episode 2 Anakin (I was a kid)
- “this is sad” asked me quigon’s name a couple more times
- “It’s cool, they formed an alliance but are they not going to crush the orb? It looks crushable” and she was very disappointed when the orb was not crushed
- final thoughts: she liked the characters and the action, next is episode 2

I’m enjoying the Death Star book, it’s fun you get some new characters and explore more stuff before a new hope
Legends are fun because authors just went nuts with everything because George Lucas said go ahead
Legends thrawn novels are really good and fun to read. Mara Jade is also introduced in one of those books. I haven’t exactly gotten to the later legends books. I have jumped around a bit. Also just wanted to read more of thrawn-love him.
Yoda Dark Rendevous was so good. It’s a peek into Yoda’s relationship with Dooku and that’s really interesting and kinda heartbreaking ngl. In addition to Yoda being wise and stuff you also do see yoda’s gremlin side and it’s so fucking funny.
Labyrinth of Evil is also really good. It’s taking place like right before revenge of the Sith. It’s also the first book in the Dark Lord trilogy: labyrinth of evil, the revenge of the Sith by mat strover, and then the rise of darth vader. I recommend all of them.
Labyrinth of Evil is the one with one of the most heartbreaking lines Obi-Wan has said after Anakin asked “And you Master? What does your heart tell you you’re meant for?”
And obi wan replies with a smile “infinite sadness.”
I really loved the Old Republic books and seeing the Sith at the height of their power, it’s just so interesting. The Darth Bane trilogy gives background on that infamous Sith and kinda sets up what Sidious does later on and introduces the rule of two.
There’s like at least two (so far that I’m aware of) zombie related books. So that’s interesting. Dark and graphic for sure. Just be aware of that. Red Harvest and Death Troopers are the books in case you’d rather avoid that.
There’s a Revan book that’s an addition to the game he was in. Love Revan he’s awesome.
There’s a Darth Maul book where he’s in prison and that’s fun to read. It’s called Lockdown.
Shatterpoint was really interesting, what happened to Depa was fucked up but exploring Mace Windu’s character was fun.
The Republic Commando books are fun and explore the thoughts and feelings of troopers. Before, during, and after order 66.
There’s also a two-part series called Gambit and Siege that takes place during the clone wars. Centers around Anakin and Obi-Wan.
aahhhhh tysm for these recs omg!!!!
yesss thrawn, my beloved!! i have heir to the empire rn, and it has been staring at me from my bookshelf lmao. can't wait to read the legends thrawn novels!!!!
ooohh yoda dark rendezvous sounds v interesting... gotta love the frog grandpa <3.
and labyrinth of evil is another one i have!! AND OH MY GOSH I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS PART OF A TRILOGY WITH THE ROTS NOVEL. I'VE GOTTA READ RISE OF DARTH VADER TOO OMG.
i am writing all of these down on my to-read list!!!! thank you so so so much; this was genuinely so helpful, and i loved reading what you thought about all of these books <33

John Does The Phantom Menace
So right off the bat, I hate this movie. I know, I know...it's an unpopular opinion, no need to remind me (/s), but hear me out on this one. This movie sucks. Someone pull up the clip of George Lucas saying "I might have gone too far" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxL4pzuwSUQ). You get the point.
Right off the bat, we're thrown into a boring set up with a space blockade on Naboo to prevent trade routes from being made, but that's only the title crawl. Then we get Obi Wan and Qui-Gon sneaking around the republic on the orders of the chancellor, which goes wrong. They manage to sneak in, meet Jar Jar (who is conveniently about to be killed so they can save him), which...unfortunately sets the movie into motion by taking them to the Gungans (his people), who are mindtricked by Qui-Gon (Are the Jedi supposed to be the good guys?) into giving them transport, where they're now forced to drag Jar Jar around for the rest of the movie. I'm going to try to keep my criticize of Jar Jar to a minimum from here on out...the Star Wars community bullied the actor so much afterwards that he tried to kill himself.
They rescue the queen (someone explain to me how the government of Naboo works, where the queen can also serve in the senate...I'm legitimately confused and don't want to nitpick it without knowing for a fact that it's stupid). They go to Tatooine because they have a part broken on their ship, they wager their ship for the part and a slave child (Trust me, I'm going to come back to this) in a pod race, where they trust that a 9 year old they've known for 5 minutes and know has never won a race to win a race, which he does...cause otherwise you don't have a movie.
They go to Coruscant, Yoda forbids training the slave child, so Qui-Gon basically says "Screw you, you're not my dad!" and takes the kid under his wing. Since Anakin was being too annoying, Qui-Gon turns the car around and everyone goes back to Naboo where our party splits into 3 groups. I think the Queen was there? She doesn't really do anything, yet she *insisted* that they go back to Naboo.
Jar-Jar gets promoted to general...and I have to bite my tongue on this one. He stumbles around and wins a ground battle against the trade federation and their droid army by tripping over a bunch of bombs.
Meanwhile, we have Anakin, who's told to wait in the ship and not touch anything...the 9 year old...the keys are in the goddamn ignition...and he takes off and flies in a space battle around the droid control ship, where he accidentally blows up a ship that's mysteriously shaped like a Death Star by missing some droids in the hangar that happens to have the main reactor to the ship out in the open with no protection...they put the thing that makes the whole thing blow up in the parking garage...I'm flabbergasted.
And lastly, we have Qui-Gon and Obi Wan who get the only good part of the movie as they fight Darth Maul, who kills Qui-Gon cause being a mentor in Star Wars is the second most lethal profession after being an employee of The Empire. And then Maul gets cut in half in a move that really should've been easily dodged, but it's time for the movie to end.
So, what's the lasting impact of the Phantom Menace on the Star Wars universe? Nothing...this movie is meaningless. It pretty much just shows that Anakin exists, is training, and may be evil.
I prefer to look at a different legacy of this movie...The Jedi's view on slavery. George, why do they leave Anakin's Mom enslaved? Answer me, George. The Jedi realized that slaves were in use on Tatooine, why did no one stop them? The Jedi bought Anakin, technically. Does that mean that Anakin has to become a Jedi? Is he still a slave when they make him a Padawan?
If Anakin had been refused by Qui-Gon, would they have dropped him back into slavery with his mom? Was Yoda just going to have him dropped in foster care? Why didn't Qui-Gon fight harder to free Shmi (Anakin's mom) from the slavers? Why is she named Shmi? What the hell kind of name is that? Who wrote this movie? George, why did you make this movie?
3/10, at least it's not Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars Modern AU headcannons ft. Single Dad Anakin pt 2
I managed to get brain rot from my own au lmao
Anyways this focuses more on the adults bc I've been thinking
Asajj was on Beat Bobby Flay once
She lost but people are coming to her restaurant more because they think it was rigged
So btw thranto is canon in this universe because I said so tee hee
Anyways Eli eventually leaves his accountant job and starts a restaurant called Cantina Tex-Mex because this is Texas, Eli Vanto is not portrayed as white so I made him Chilean and Mexican. ALSO tex mex is very good if done right.
He has an unreasonable amount of teenagers there on Fridays
He gave them a discount bc Asajj told (read: threatened) him to
Anyways Thrawn also makes specifically 2 gallons of Puerto Rican Chocolate Caliente (hot chocolate) every friday because he wants to watch the world burn
Literally every teen and tween loves that hot chocolate but he just makes 2 gallons then watches the mad scramble
Asajj makes a diner food and Romanian food mix
It's really good for date nights and the Skywalkers (plus Rex, Ahsoka,Barriss, and Obi-wan) to eat at for family dinners if something special happens
It's cool as hell she makes like Sarmale burgers so she has the patty be 2 actual Sarmale. Which is minced pork, spices, onions, and rice rolled in sour cabbage leaves and served with her hashbrowns potatos.
She serves Pepsi because she is a sadist
Ahsoka is a comedian as I have said before
Her content is all written by herself no ghost writers
She has had 2 Netflix specials so far
One of her jokes is about how her and Thrawn became enemies
Dr. Barriss and Eli are good friends so haha rivalry but your spouse will smack your dumbass for it.
They don't hit their spouses btw they just roll their eyes and pack up their crochet stuff.
Barriss and Eli met in middle school when other kids were being assholes to Barriss. Anyways they were friends ever since.
Maul, Savage, and Mother Talzin come visit one day
It's hilarious
No one really likes Maul
People think Savage is v nice
Mother Talzin is this 6 foot lady she terrifies the town minus the Skywalker twins and Los tres caballeros (Ahsoka, Anakin, and Obi-wan)
Anakin is a force of nature
He's an idiot with a clone of him
No like Leia is literally very much like him
Luke looks like him but other than that he's just Padme
Leia has done several things her father did
Everyone found it hilarious
Till she tried to jump off the roof to fly when she was 10
Poor baby had a big scar
Luke is also a fucking idiot I'd like to remind you, he has a insufferable martyr complex
Seriously Ahsoka, Barriss, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Luke were playing Bedwars once and Anakin and Luke kept throwing themselves onto the fray
Annoying as hell sometimes
Anakin literally just told Ahsoka that doing drugs was cringe once so she just didn't
Anakin did though Obi-wan lectured him on why drugs are bad and it went in one ear and out the other
And by drugs I mean weed
Because it's my fake USA so I will make it how I want it
Weed is legal now fuck you
Anakin just calls things cringe then leaves
Like he told Palpatine he was cringe once
I dont think Palpatine ever recovered
Also Palpatine is homophobic
Lol he lives in gay people texas
Shaak Ti my beloved
Aayla and Bly are the peak of cool aunt and uncle
They are the aunt and uncle who take you to rated r movies when your 13
Anyways that's it I just needed to get that out of my system

I have often given Qui-Gon Jinn a hard time because he’s so often used in STAR WARS fandom as a weapon to beat on other characters I love and it makes it difficult to like him, as well as it overshadows who the character himself is. So, to help balance that out some, I wanted to do a set of recs to remind myself–and just share some happiness in!–that I actually do very much like Qui-Gon! He’s a good person who really loved the people around him, he cared very deeply, he had an amazing friendship with Yoda (seriously, that Yoda’s the one he reaches out to when he becomes a Force Ghost, that even after death, Qui-Gon loves his Jedi family, it gives me feelings in my feelings place every single time), and one of my favorite things about Master & Apprentice is that I often got the impression that he knew he was kind of obnoxious sometimes, but he was at peace with it, he was fine with that. That was a straight shot to my heart, I love that dude! So, here have some fics that celebrate that Qui-Gon is actually a really great character. He may not always be the central character, but I remember him being well portrayed in these and they gave me good Qui-Gon feelings! Family Reunion Part 10
{masterlist}
Warnings: Have some more angst, my friends. Some character death-as in It happened in the past TPM, some description of pain/injury, a contactless duel, brief mention of suicidal thoughts.
This got really dark towards the end, I’m sorry.
Notes I’m so sorry this took so long, I was going through some stuff and this was a real humdinger of an installment to get hung up on.
Ya’ll need to thank @aberionart for this even getting completed. If not for her art giving me the motivation to attack this beast of a chapter, it wouldn’t have gotten done. Thank you for helping me get out of my writing funk! I always love your art and how positive and supportive you are of everyone!

………………………………………..
“Well,” a voice unlike any you’d ever heard before seared over your ears-creating a cold sense of dread that dripped down your spine like ice water. You flicked your eyes open cautiously and raised your head off of Wild’s, simultaneously pulling the young boy closer to you. “What do we have here?” It continued, echoing all around with a low, completely unnatural reverb. You couldn’t help but pick up on the way the owner of the voice pronounced the letter ‘w’-like a ‘v’ instead. It...it was similar to the way Maul used to speak after trying to teach you paecian. It was always so funny to you that speaking in his mother tongue accidentally made him develop a bit of an accent for a little while afterward. Reluctantly, you rose to your feet, keeping Wild close to your front though as your gaze trailed down the ramp to observe Savage standing next to a tall creature clad all in red. They had a high forehead and black tattoos over their face in large blocks and groups. Eventually, you locked eyes with them, e/c staring into piercing, eerie blue. “Ah, you must be padawan L/n.”
“Mother Talzin, I presume?” You greeted cordially despite the agonizing urge to reach for your sabers and rid the galaxy of the witch. “I am...honored to finally meet you in person. But, if you please, I go by Y/n as I have forgone any affiliation with the Jedi.”
Mother Talzin hummed, moving unnervingly slow as she bowed her head just enough to acknowledge your confession. The strange tentacle-like pieces of cloth affixed to the back of her cloak followed the movement, slithering in the non-existent wind. “Very well, Y/n.” The Nightmother scanned you in silence after her statement, most likely trying to size you up. You kept your chin raised as you turned to face her more and pushed Wild behind you. Immediately, the witch caught the movement and her eyes zeroed in on Wild. “Ah, and who might this be?”
You swallowed and let your eyes flicker over to Savage for help but the yellow zabrak could offer none. “This is Wild.” You eventually explained.
“Your son?” The Nightmother observed though you had the slightest inclination that, though it sounded like a question, it was a statement designed to make you uncomfortable. And it was working. You nodded briefly, tongue darting out to quickly wet your lips-you were getting nervous. Mother Talzin became quiet again, now scanning over Wild who was quietly peeking out from behind you, one hand fisted into the fabric of your tunic and the other itching for one of the sabers on your hip. Evidently, he was as uncomfortable as you were. “He is a fine specimen.” You bristled, stepping to the side to shield Wild from her gaze entirely as your hand landed on your saber. Talzin looked back up at you and spoke with a wry smile, “It is a shame he is a half-blood, he would have made an excellent nightbrother.”
Over my dead body. You thought bitterly and fixed the witch with the most murderous stare you could muster. Talzin was unfazed by your offense and simply directed her attention to the other red zabrak in the cargo hold-Maul, who had sequestered himself behind boxes once more now much further into the hold. The guilt that followed your realization that he was hiding from you stung more than any blaster bolt would.
You were pulled from your misery by the sound of the force swirling and converging on one spot, ominous whispers and chants following where it went as a green mist started to fill the cargo hold. Mother Talzin, still stood at the end of the ramp was swirling her hands around a steadily forming glowing green ball of her magic. “Come,” she commanded, her voice taking on a higher reverb, “Let us fix what has been broken.” She calmly released the green ball and it glided over to Maul, bathing the cargo hold in an unsettling yellowish green as it went that had Wild clinging tighter to you as he poked his head around your waist to watch. Your hand fell to his shoulder, wrapping it in a tight grip as you followed the orb with your eyes. “Come to me.” Talzin continued. “Come to me, come to me.” The orb disappeared briefly as it weaved between crates, only trackable by the ominous green glow. “Come to me, lost one, come to me. Follow us, son of Dathomir. Follow me, lost one.Come, child of Dathomir. Follow me.” Talzin urged once more, the whispering and chanting echoing ominously back, till Maul finally began to listen. Originally shying away from the magic, he now followed it-shoving boxes aside and chasing after it like a child enchanted by an odd bug that flitted through the air.
You started to back up to give Maul more room and encouraged Wild to do the same with a hand on his shoulder. He rolled it and your hand fell away. It felt like someone had stabbed you through the chest. You froze completely, eyes glued to the half-zabrak who didn’t acknowledge you and instead kept his attention fixed on Maul as he followed Mother Talzin and Savage away.
The hangar fell silent. Neither of you moved.
You rolled your lips in, anxiously gnawing on them. You had to say something. “Wild…” you began in a soft voice.
“Don’t.” The word was whispered, barely audible, but it bombarded your ears like a barrage of blaster fire. “Just...don’t.” You had never heard your son sound more defeated.
“Alright.” You swallowed in an attempt to keep the tremble at bay. “Wild, are you okay?”
“...Yeah.” He lied and you sucked in a breath. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
Force, you’d messed up. “Okay…” you began slowly, stalling on every syllable that left you, “what do you want?”
“...” Wild shifted but continued to stare at the opposing wall. You could hear the answer he wanted to give as it floated all around you, suspended by the anxieties of the both of you. Force, you’d messed up. The truth. It mocked you. Bouncing off of the walls and around your feet-all emanating from the only other person in the room. The truth, the truth, the truth. “A duel.”
The reply caught you off guard, Wild’s thoughts and true desires disappeared in an instant which returned the both of you to that deathly still cargo hold once more. “What?” You asked, taken aback.
Wild finally turned to face you, his little red face set in the most serious expression he could muster. To you it was the perfect cross between Maul’s scowl and your glare and you did not like being on the receiving end of it. That look was meant for strangers that were too nosy for their own good. That look was a defence you had taught him. That look was not supposed to be used against you. “You joked about training earlier and then you asked me what I wanted. Well, I want to duel as part of my training for today.” The young boy asserted with crossed arms.
You blinked, regarding your son uncertainly. Wild didn’t like to duel because he could never beat you and that always frustrated him and he’d get all huffy and sulk in the farthest place from you. “Alright…” you began. You continued to size Wild up. Your son had a plan and he was determined to box you in, that much you could tell, but what that plan was was unclear. The truth. That was his goal. And suddenly you knew what he was going to do. Both he and yourself knew that you were the most open about Maul when you were preoccupied. So, in theory, if Wild could distract you with a fight he could weasel more information out of you. A good plan but not one you’d go along with. “Here.” You tossed your blue lightsaber to the boy who scrambled to catch it. “Take up position.” You commanded, switching into your teaching voice-the one you had once used on younglings during your tenure as a padawan, the one Ki-Adi had used on you, the one you loathed to use on Wild. Following your own instructions, you ignited your lightsaber, green blade bathing the cargo hold in a complimenting glow, and dipped into a slight crouch. The hilt of the saber twirled elegantly in your hand-a practiced manuever Maul had helped you perfect so you could slip between forward and reverse grips with ease. Wild faltered. Evidently, he had been prepared to argue. But, your son reacted swiftly by correcting his face and mimicking your pose though he kept his saber in front of him pointing up. “I don’t need to repeat the rules-no contact, tap out when you need to, and nothing that could endanger either of our lives. It is crucial to be aware of all that is around you in a duel and a great way to practice is by following the rules laid out during training.” You quickly rambled off the same spiel you always repeated when you and Wild dueled. “If any real injuries occur, we end the duel immediately. Understood?”
“Understood.” Wild confirmed with a firm nod.
The game began. You kept your eyes trained on your son and remained still, your only motion the infrequent twirl of your lightsaber as you gave the boy the opportunity to make the first move. He was beginning to look more and more uncertain. Still, he took a step to the right-you took a step to the left. You took another step, he did as well and thus you both began to slowly circle each other. Wild shifted his grip, slipping into the opening stance for Form II and you mimicked him-your own legs taking on a wider stance as you brought your lightsaber slightly off to your side pointing up and held between both hands. Form IV, the form you’d adapted to survive. In your training you had always favored Form V, liking the way it offered both defense and offense, but after meeting Maul you’d started to favor IV. Wild, on the other hand, was a more defensive fighter (probably because he was younger) and he relied heavily on the basics and Form III. But he was nervous-he was vulnerable. And he wasn’t going to make the first move. Noble but potentially dangerous. You moved in.
You darted forward, lightsaber swinging for his left leg as it was the most exposed. Wild moved quickie and swung his blade down to block it and you fell back. Your son was too careful-too afraid of fighting to chase your strike. It was something you were working on-you’d forgone teaching him IV for now and opted to begin V for him to encourage the introduction of more offensive moves. It was a slow process.
Spotting another opening on his right, you moved in again. Wild reacted quicker this time and met the strike with enough time and force to push you back. Good. But that left him exposed to a kick to the ribs. You brought your leg up quickly and stopped just before you made contact. “Protect your vitals, Wild.” Was your simple instruction as you moved away before he could retaliate. You were moving quicker now, feinting to the right before swooping in for his left. And Wild was beginning to loosen up-reacting more sharply as he did so. But still, “Wild, loosen up. You’re far too tense for any effective combat.” You corrected with a well aimed poke with your index finger to his kidneys. It was an attack he would’ve been able to block had he spun in time. Wild whirled around to strike at you but you were too quick, already leaping over him to continue mock-striking his sides and other exposed vitals. Wild was growing frustrated. He spun on his heel faster than anything you'd seen from him this whole time and brought the blue lightsaber down. You met the strike. He moved to the right, you matched him. He moved his blade to the left, you twirled yours to meet the strike and pushed him back. A huff slipped from him as he recovered and came at you once more. You blocked it and quickly brought your leg up-attempting to “kick” him in the side again. He took one hand off of his blade to block the strike which was a critical mistake. You spun around swiftly and caught Wild’s blade once more and began to steadily force him to back up. Locked in a stalemate with you steadily placing more of your weight in the strike and Wild perpetually collapsing under it you made your next move carefully. You snapped up, removing your weight with a quick spin of your saber that had Wild’s wrist twisting back uncomfortably. He yelped and dropped the saber. You deactivated yours and stepped away while your son assessed his wrist. “Loosen your grip next time, it will help you maneuver the blade more fluidly which, in turn, will make a move like that much more difficult for your opponent to pull off.”
Wild muttered something under his breath that you didn’t catch, eyes trained on the fallen lightsaber as if he could make it combust with his mind. “Would you like to try again?” There was no verbal response from the young boy. He, instead, bent down and scooped the weapon up again-inspecting it as though he had never seen it before. He was silent for a few more seconds.
“When can I get my own lightsaber?” He finally asked and met your e/c eyes with his saffron ones. “Yours is too light. It feels like I’m holding nothing.” Too light. You knew Wild didn’t like using your blue saber-while it was the heavier of the two you weilded it was still built to be lightweight like your green one-though it wasn’t a complaint he voiced often. You shifted, your stoic, teaching oriented facade falling away for a moment. Wild was proving to be more and more like Maul as time progressed-he favored brute strength and speed despite being a defensive fighter. With a deep breath in you steadied yourself, mind flitting to the location of the lightsaber you had intended to give him-it would have been perfect for your son despite only being half of his father’s original weapon. You had rebalanced it (your pet project you used to lessen the ache in your chest when Maul’s “death” was a fresh wound). You made sure that the energy dispersion was adequate but the blade still deadly. You’d cleaned it and sealed the bottom up to remove the jagged edge left from when Kenobi sliced your love’s weapon. You’d restored it. But the kyber crystal was removed: taken out to avoid potential injury of you or your son should it decide to malfunction and placed in a hidden compartment in the bottom of your green saber.
“I told you-once I finish teaching you Form V, we’ll try and sneak onto Illum or somewhere else to find you a kyber crystal.” You informed placidly, keeping your eyes on your son. You filed away the knowledge of Maul’s saber for now. Wild grumbled under his breath again and you raised an eyebrow at him. “Would you like to try again?” You asked once more. He didn’t answer verbally, merely slipped into the opening stance for V this time. With an acknowledging nod, you readied your own weapon.
Wild struck first this time: darting forward with as much speed as he could muster. Instead of blocking it, you fell back and doubled around to strike at his back. But Wild had learned and fell forward causing you to stumble which gave him time to whirl around. He brought his saber down towards your leg but you blocked it. Instead of backing off like you thought he would, your son continued to press his weight down. “Good, Wild, good.” You commended in as warm a tone you could muster. “But watch your back leg because…” you spun out of the lock and mimicked his earlier strike though you stopped before you made contact. “If I was a real enemy, that would be the first thing to go for.” Wild didn’t acknowledge the instruction. He, instead, launched right into another volley of strikes. “Your wrist, sweetpea, use your wrist instead of your whole arm-it’s faster, more maneuverable, and it doesn’t take as much energy per strike.” You corrected again. There was a muttered complaint under his breath but he did correct his grip. You took the chance to lob your own series of strikes against your son. His blocking was a little sloppy but he had improved since the last time you sparred.
You were getting bored though. Without warning, you raised a hand and used the force to pull your son off balance. He hit the durasteel with a loud thump, the lightsaber clattering on the floor next to him. Almost immediately, he slammed his hands down and sat up to regard you with the most scathing scowl he could. “That’s cheating!” Wild shrieked at you.
You tilted your head and shrugged. “Your opponent will do whatever they can to gain the advantage-you must be prepared.” You explained placidly whilst inspecting the hilt of your lightsaber. “Again.” Returning your attention to the half-zabrak, you slipped into your opening stance once more. The young boy sighed exasperatedly and snatched up his fallen weapon. Your son was starting to get frustrated which told you it was almost time to take a break. “Once more and then we’ll stop.” Nothing. “Fair?” A low sigh and the igniting of the blade once more was his reply. This time, you didn’t wait for him to strike. You surged forward, aiming a strike for Wild’s neck at as slow a pace as you could manage. Wild met it and flicked you away but you were quick on the uptake and resumed. Another strike towards his leg, towards his arm, and his hip-each one deflected and reciprocated. Wild was getting better at tapping into V, relying less and less on the purely defensive tactics he always relied on. But, he was getting tired; his strikes were getting sloppy. You weren’t faring much better. A headache had formed-the two epicenters either side your skull. It was strange. There was a bizarre climbing sensation that accompanied it-like two hands clawing up either temple. You were very grateful that you decided this would be the last round as a quick nap seemed to be in order.
Wild was still on the offensive, attacking with all the strength he had but he was slowing down quick. Again, you raised your hand and pushed him away using the force. The boy sighed low in his throat-the sound bordering on a growl. But, his attacks resumed all the same. You repeated your own actions. “Stop.” The growl was more coherent this time. You both repeated. “I said stop that!” Wild snapped again, diving forward. You furrowed your brows and fell back to avoid the strike entirely. You raised your hand once more and Wild froze mid step, held in place by an invisible grip.
“Wild, are you alright?” You asked, teacher facade fading entirely as you sheathed your saber and took a step towards him. “We can call it quits if you’d like-!”
“Will you stop that?” Wild yelled and in his anger, he managed to escape your grip. The boy recovered quickly while you were left floundering, trying desperately to understand what was happening. But you weren’t fast enough. Wild set his face in a scowl, his eyes flickering a strange color for just a moment, and raised both of his hands and your back collided with the opposite wall.
You didn’t know what had happened. One minute, you and Obi Wan were stuck behind ray shields, helplessly watching the ensuing fight between Master Qui-Gon and your love, your husband, Maul, and the next, you were curling over Master Qui-Gon’s body in a fruitless attempt to urge him to cling to life while Obi Wan went for Maul. You knew what Maul was. You knew what he could do. But to see him do it?
You were trembling, eyes not straying from the two figures locked in combat. You didn’t know what you were feeling but there was a lot of it that caused an anxious swirling cyclone to manifest in the pit of your stomach. One hand curled around your barely formed bump-was that really the father of your child? The one that could kill without thought? No. You told yourself. No, that is not my Maul. That...that is Darth Maul. There was a sudden squeeze of your hand that momentarily distracted you from the fear now slowly consuming you. Qui-Gon was still fighting.
“Master Qui-Gon!” You exclaimed quietly, returning your attention to the dying man. “Master Qui-Gon, speak to me, please.” You begged the Jedi. Almost painfully, his eyelids fluttered open.
“O-Obi Wan? Where...where is Obi Wan?” He wheezed and looked around as best he could.
Tears pricked your eyes as you opened your mouth to answer. “Fighting Maul, maste-” You were cut off-your body suddenly airborne. You flew away from the fallen Jedi’s side until your back collided rather harshly with a durasteel wall on the opposite side of Qui-Gon. Pain ricocheted up your spine at the sensation as your eyes immediately tried to take in your sudden shift in surroundings. Your gaze settled on Maul and Obi Wan, the former stood with his hand outstretched towards you and his lightsaber at his side. There was an unreadable expression on his face that was dominated by concern. Rightfully so, you should think, from having practically flung you across the room. Still, it was clear that he hadn’t meant to launch you into the wall-a minor comfort in contrast to the dawning understanding that you had been so foolish. You were a traitor to your people. You were in love with a Sith.
“Mom! Mom, please! I-I-I’m sorry! I-I didn’t mean to-to throw you. I was just, just angry and I don’t know what happened. Mom?” You were brought back to reality by the frantic shaking of your shoulders, the stinging in your lower back, and the throbbing of your head. Not to mention the downright terrified tremor in Wild’s voice. Your eyes flickered open. Panicked saffron met your unfocused e/c. “Mom!” Wild exclaimed and launched forward, arms wrapping around your neck.
“Sweetpea, what happened?” You kept your voice quiet as you returned your son’s panicked hug. It was a little awkward given your current seating against a box on the floor but you voiced no complaint.
The boy pulled back and your heart broke at the sight of tears gathering in his eyes. “I-I don’t know! I just...I just got really mad and-and I wanted to...I don’t even know what I wanted and I just was going to push you like you’d been doing but-but...I threw you and you weren’t waking up!” Wild explained in a shaky voice that you could barely understand, chest heaving with barely restrained distress.
Thinking quickly, you placed one hand on his shoulder and the other went to cup the side of his face. “Hey, look at me.” You commanded in a very soft voice and an imperceptible tug to focus your son on you. “I’m alright. I’m not hurt.” You continued slowly, trying to convey that you weren’t angry or even injured. Sure, your back stung from the impact and it appeared as though it had triggered an unwanted trip back to an unpleasant memory but you knew it wasn’t Wild’s fault. “You did not hurt me, Wild.” You reassured once more whilst maintaining eye contact with the young boy. He sniffled and blinked and the gathered tears finally fell. “It wasn’t your fault, sweetpea.” You continued, now carefully wiping the tears away. Wild now refused to meet your eye but you pressed on. “And I don’t blame you. Accidents happen-I can’t tell you how many times I accidentally shoved your father when we’d spar.” He looked up at that and you sent him a smile, happy to see the curious glint replacing his previous sadness.
“Really?” He questioned in a tiny voice. You smiled a little wider-you knew you were somewhat playing into his original trap but this felt like a tidbit you could spare to tell.
“Yeah, he was always trying to teach me how to be more aggressive-in regards to dueling, mind you-and...I may or may not have gotten carried away a few times.” A wistful look darted across your face. “If he were here, he’d be embarrassed about how many trees I launched him into.”
“Trees?” Wild was brightening up now.
“Oh yes, we had a special planet we’d meet on-one far out of the Jedi’s range where we could just...be us. For a little while anyways.” You sighed. Us. “It was a beautiful planet, Wild, with lush forests and countless caves filled with glittering jewels. And the most gorgeous waterfalls I’d ever seen.” You could see it now, the planet you hadn’t dared to return to. You’d gone everywhere else alone and with Wild but that damned planet. “We met in the same spot every time-in the clearing where we’d met and we’d go running off to explore...we’d find a lake to spar next to and…” a giggle escaped you at a vague memory of Maul’s first reaction to swimming, “and I’d teach him to swim sometimes too.”
Wild laughed with you, more so out of shock that reminiscence. “He didn’t know how to swim?”
You shook your head. “He was from here, Wild. Dathomir’s not known for its swimming holes.” You explained with a comical lift of your eyebrows at the boy. “Anyways, in exchange I guess he’d teach me how to fight like him. And that meant I had to learn how to channel my anger. That meant I accidentally threw him a couple of times. It’s something you’ll learn too and if I must, I will gladly be your test dummy.” Wild huffed a laugh through his nose and you patted his face, pleased to see him calming down. You fell quiet for a moment as you observed the little lift of Wild’s smile and the scrunch of his nose that always followed a laugh. It was your smile on Maul’s face. Wild had Maul’s eye color but your eye shape. Your nose but the slight scrunch Maul would do when he spoke or smiled. He really was the perfect combination of you both even if your attributes were subtler. Wild was determined, intelligent, and protective. He was thoughtful but action-oriented as well. Calculated but not heartless. “Force, you’re so much like him.” You finally broke, not even aware that the thought had escaped you.
“Like who?” Wild asked with a slight tilt of his head-an action no doubt learned from you. Curiosity seemed to radiate from him but also an underlying keenness that told you he knew exactly who you were referring too. Clever-another one to add to the growing list.
“Your father, Wild...I...I wish he’d gotten to know you.”
“Y/n…” Maul seethed, his voice ringing in your ears though it was barely above a whisper as he stalked closer to you. His lightsaber...or rather half of his lightsaber still grasped in his hand.
You were running towards him despite the short gap between you and crashing into his chest before you knew it. “I know, Maul, I know.” Your voice was choppy, form shaky, as you wrapped your trembling arms around his torso. His hand fell on your shoulder-not quite returning the sudden embrace but gripping hard enough to make it clear he had you. “I know I shouldn’t have come-I should’ve run away as soon as that damn door opened. I’m sorry.” The zabrak was silent as his lightsaber hummed close to your ear. You continued to press your face into his robes, not acknowledging the heat close to your head. Eventually, Maul took a deep breath and released it in a sigh as he sheathed his weapon. His arms wrapped around you-one on your waist while his other brought his hand to the back of your head.
Maul pressed his face to your hair and you could feel his lips move as he spoke. “It’s alright, my light. I know.” The sound of him so gentle and understanding nearly brought you to your knees. This was your Maul-not whoever he was mere minutes ago as he battled your fellow padawan...Obi Wan...you didn’t dare let your mind dwell on the fate of him.
You held each other for a moment more, the world around you slipping away, until you became overtly aware of how your stomach brushed against his. Your baby...you had to tell him now. You pulled back till you could look him in the eyes, saffron surrounded by a ring of vermillion meeting with your e/c. “Maul, I have to tell you something.”
“He...he would’ve loved you.” You were ashamed of the way your voice broke at the admission. He would have loved Wild-that much you were certain of-if he he had gotten the chance to know him. But would either have that opportunity now? If Mother Talzin was successful in restoring Maul, would he be the same? You knew that you’d changed over the years-you’d had to for both your son’s and your own survival-but what would Maul be like? Your husband or the Sith Lord?...You supposed your distinguishing between the two the last time you’d described his father had not been unprecedented. With a deep breath in to steady yourself, you returned your attention to your son. “He would have taught you so much more. I wish you could meet him, Wild.” But...I don’t know if the Maul you meet will be the one I fell in love with.
“Mom, you...you don’t have to talk about Dad if it’s too painful.” Wild’s barely audible voice brought your attention back to the present.
“No....” Your voice was firmer than you’d expected it to be which took both you and your son aback. “No,” you tried again in a softer tone, “you...you deserve to know everything.” With a nervous swallow you continued. “Whatever you want to ask...I will answer.” There was no going back now. If the Maul that returned wasn’t the Maul you had known then maybe you could give Wild a chance to know his father through you.
Wild gaped at you for a few seconds, your offer not quite computing. “...Are...you’re serious?” He asked skeptically with wide eyes. “Actually serious?” Your only reply was a nod as you let your hands fall to your sides and you shifted to sit on your knees. He was quiet for a moment longer as the gears turned in his head-most likely searching for the right first question. “Where did Dad die?”
You swallowed again to stifle the panic. “...he...he didn’t.” Wild’s eyes widened a little further as shock overtook his face. “I...lost him on Naboo.” You scrambled to elaborate as your son fell completely silent. You weren’t even sure if he was breathing. “I thought he died but...when Savage found us...he told me that he had been sent to find him. He wanted me to help locate your father. I told him that I watched him die on Naboo.”
“What was he doing on Naboo?” Wild finally spoke after another beat had passed.
“He was...helping enforce the blockade.” You knew you were being vague but Wild was going to draw his own conclusions soon.
“The blockade?” He emphasised, referring to the blockade you’d told him Darth Maul had overseen. “What...why?”
“His master had instructed him to.”
“His master? So...Darth...did Dad work with the Sith?”
He was getting closer, that was for sure. “...Yes.”
“Was...was Darth Maul his master?”
“...No.”
“Then...I don’t know what that means.” Wild admitted, retreating inwards to mull over the newly divulged information.
With another sigh, you closed your eyes in an internal debate of whether or not you provided him with what could possibly be the key clue your son needed. It was a short lived debate though. “Peace is a lie, there is only passion.” You began to recall the mantra Maul had often recited to you when teaching you how to channel your own anger. “Through passion, I gain strength.” Your eyes began to sting behind your eyelids as tears of your own began to form. “Through strength, I gain power.” There was a shift-not only in the cargo hold or between you and your son but it felt like a great power was being awoken all over the red bathed planet. “Through power, I gain victory.” It shifted again, growing stronger, angrier, darker. “Through victory, my chains are broken.” The chains...the chains are the easy part...it’s what goes on in here that’s hard. Those words-some of the first coherent thoughts to spill from Maul upon you and Savage finding him suddenly rang throughout your head. What went on in Maul’s head would certainly prove the most difficult part to understand, that you were certain of. It had taken you months to even get a read on his personality when you were young. It had taken months for him to accept his feelings for you and even longer for him to accept that you returned them. It had taken years for the two of you to decide that spending the rest of your lives together was the right course of action and months for the Force to grant you one physical piece of evidence to prove the validity of your relationship. The Force had given you Wild and the promise of a life with Maul...and almost all of it had been taken away in an instant. Your lives bound to the will of the Force by chains too thick to break. “The Force shall free me.” You opened your eyes and let your gaze fall on Wild. He was staring at you with a mixture of confusion and undeniable curiosity.
“What...what was that?” He asked in a tiny voice.
“The code of the Sith.” You answered immediately, the words falling freely from you now.
“Why do you know that…?”
“A Sith taught it to me.”
“Who?”
You blinked. He was so close to figuring it out. “I have only ever met one Sith, Wild.”
“...” He said nothing, his gaze moving away from you to gaze out of the cargo hold at the red bathed planet. Wild’s jaw was tense, his hands anxiously clenching into fists only to unclench a moment later, and his eyes frantically darted from side to side as though watching a battle before him. “What…,” he turned to you, “was Dad’s name?”
Finally. You closed your eyes once more to prepare yourself for whatever was about to come. You only spoke once you opened your eyes. “Mau-” A searing pain tore through your abdomen, cutting you off in an instant. Screams clawed from your throat at the sudden sensation that felt not unlike a heated knife being stuck into the flesh above your hips and around your torso. You fell to your side, hands snaking around your lower stomach.
“What is it, Y/n?” Maul questioned, picking up on the urgent tone in your voice immediately. His hands retracted from around you to take a firm hold on your forearms.
Unable to fight the smile that clawed itself over your face, you turned your hands over to also grasp his arms, anchoring both of you in that moment. “Maul, my love, I’m-” He stiffened, eyes locking on something above your head. With a harsh shove he sent you to the floor as his hand shot for his lightsaber.
It happened in a blur-a flash of green, a choked breath, and the worst pain you’d ever felt tearing its way across your lower abdomen. It was the worst moment of your life-your love and your connection to him being severed in one fell swoop from Obi Wan Kenobi. You didn’t know if you screamed or cried. You didn’t know if you did anything else besides watch as Maul fell away, lost to some unimportant reactor shaft on Naboo. A death so unbefitting a man of such power it almost felt poetic. Unjustly poetic. Was this some form of punishment? You knew you grabbed his lightsaber, clinging to it as you prayed for death to take you as well. If the Force should decree for you to suffer a fate worse than death than it would lose you to it as well.
But you were stopped. Two hands pulled you away, you were led back to the council to await a different fate unknown to you. The last touch of your love seared into your skin as was the pain of his fatal wound.
You opened your eyes, vaguely aware of the mutterings falling from you and the cold press on your forehead. There was a firm grip on your hand and a warm weight pressed into your side. “Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.” Your voice mixed with another’s graced your ears-the mantra of the Sith being repeated over and over as the pain in your abdomen began to fade till none remained. You sat up and immediately wrapped Wild in a hug. His muttering stopped to be replaced by yours. “Wild, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” You kept repeating it as your son clung to you.
“What happened?” He gasped out, grip like iron as he latched onto your arms.
“Maul.” You brought him up to eye level. “Maul’s back.” You exclaimed, already able to feel the familiar turbulent presence of your husband. “He’s back.” You began to struggle to your feet, shaky and weak as they may be.
“Mom, calm down-you’re injured.” Wild tried to drag you back down but you pulled your hand away from him.
“No, I’m not. I’m fine. Wild, we need to go. Please. He’s back.” You tried, already doing your best to march out of the cargo hold.
“Mom, hold on. What are you talking about?”
“Maul. I told you. Come on!” You were insistent, being pulled out of the ship by that commanding presence.
“Not until you tell me what my dad’s name was!” You stopped short, realization dawning on you.
Before anything could be said, a clinking sound echoed in from outside the ship causing you both to freeze. Wild immediately dropped into a defensive position, calling your blue lightsaber to him. You closed your eyes again, trying to sense what was going on. Maul’s presence was overwhelming-it crashed into you like a wall of water freshly freed from a dam. His signature was one so powerful and tumultuous that you had had little else to liken it to over the years. Where your connection with Wild was quieter and warm, the one to Maul was fiery and deceptively silent, threatening to burn you if you held onto it for too long. Force, you’d missed it. You stepped forward, eyes flying open as you did so and focused on your own presence-trying to amplify it for Maul. You had to know if he was the same man. The clinking stopped. His signature changed-a blinding glow forming to accompany the wrathful haze that always surrounded him. The clinking resumed, faster now as Maul grew closer to the ship.
You broke out in a run, darting out of the ship before Wild’s startled cry could meet your ears and rounding around the wing of it. You stopped the same time the clinking did as before you stood a red zabrak, standing a little warily on his robotic legs, whose head was crowned with ivory horns and whose eyes burned with light brighter than any star. “Maul…” You breathed out.
He straightened up, confused scowl falling away, as he spoke with a voice that rumbled like distant thunder. “My light…”

Staring into Open
4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?
I'd never be able to narrow it down, because I really put it all into that story. LOL! Like, I still worry I'll never be as good at weaving prose as I did there, though I technically know we're all our own harshest critics. But for another section of dialogue I dearly love:
Despite still looking shaken, Bail lowered himself to the ground, setting aside the medkit he'd brought. He was favoring his left shoulder heavily, face pulled into tight lines of pain, and when he settled onto the hard-packed ground, he did so with a drawn grimace. "That bad?"
Maul watched him and it didn't even occur to him right then that he was supposed to answer that question, not until Bail frowned, brow furrowed in worry. Then Maul remembered that he was supposed to speak, to respond, and he said, "It doesn't hurt."
"I was more referring to whatever was going on in your head, but that works, too." Bail popped open the medkit and then reached out; he paused when Maul raised a lip at him, but this time, he didn't draw away, just stared back, voice steady as he said, "Listen: It might not hurt, but you've had three horns torn off your head. I'm pretty amazed you didn't get your ear sheared right off, the way you hit that door frame. We're crash-landed and we have no idea when we're getting off this planet, so I'm going to patch you up so we don't have to deal with a potential infection later, you're going to refrain from doing violence to me, and we're going to be okay."
For some reason, that declaration made Maul want to laugh; to bark some unsteady, unstable sound with no relation to mirth. Something in him was whispering, I could crush you with barely a thought, Senator, and it must have shown on his face, because Bail's look back was both hard and afraid.
Afraid, but determined; not bothering to give any more credence to the warning, Bail just reached out and caught him by the chin, and Maul felt such a wave of revulsion and relief that he hissed a breath through his teeth. But after a few seconds, the revulsion faded away and left behind at least some sense of being-- still, being present, the shifting between feelings so intense that he shuddered when it finally stopped for a moment.
"Would this usually hurt?  Having horns knocked off?" Bail asked, after he'd settled, using that grip to turn Maul's head this way and that, inspecting the damage, hand firm but not bruising. His tone was more normal now, though there were still undercurrents of pain and unease there.
"Not much," Maul answered, the words coming easier, as he closed his eyes and left his neck loose, tucking his arms around himself. His voice was ragged, even to his own ears. "Some. They used to fall off as I was growing, too. They'll grow back."
There was a pause there, then Bail huffed. "Wouldn't that technically make them antlers?"
Not terribly far away, Obi-Wan laughed; it wasn't the chest-deep laugh, it was much thinner, but it was something real. Maul clung to that sound like the only rope over the edge of a cliff, saying, "Maybe. I've never given much thought to it."
I like the horn v. antler discourse. But mostly, I really love the physical dialogue going on in that scene. Maul's got a lot working on his head right there, he's being half-tormented and half-seduced by Zigoola's defense systems, and he's not sure what's real, in terms of what he's feeling, and what belongs to the holocron.
But Bail, even though he literally just saw Maul standing over Obi-Wan with a lit blade, still refuses to back off and, instead, just keeps right on handling him like he's an actual person instead of a threat or a title. And I really love how just that act of caretaking grounds Maul again and gives him a moment's break from what's happening inside his head.
Maul later tells Bail, on Alderaan, that he was their savior. And Maul really did mean that. Bail -- in Blackbirds -- much later says that he thinks they all saved each other. And technically, literally speaking, they did. But Maul's not wrong. In the less literal sense, it was definitely Bail who was his and Obi-Wan's saving grace and the person who held them together long enough for them to reach the other side. Their friendship makes me ridiculously happy, even now.

I sort of have to ask "Obi Wan" as a character
(for science)
Oh yes, of course, for science.
(Strap in for what I’m sure are going to be several very long answers lol.)
First impression
Okay, I first watched SW in a very strange order… so I think my first impression of him was Old Ben! And I remember being confused when he died lol. But the most distinctive first impression I remember was as we were watching the Clone Wars(this was before I watched the prequels) we were a few episodes in, so I was still learning who everyone and anything were because my SW knowledge was 0, but I remember saying to my roommate during that snowy episode in season 1, “I think I like Obi-Wan Kenobi. I like how he talks!” LOL!
Then the moment that solidified him as my favourite character was from Attack of the Clones when he goes to visit Dex, and was fiddling with the little Kamino dart looking super awkward, I thought that was so funny. And I never recovered I guess lol.
Impression now
He is literally my favourite character of all time. And his story is so sad.
Favourite moment
Oh my.. there are too many. I honestly love every scene he's in… anything between him and Qui Gon, Maul, and Satine I really enjoy. I love his “Good job!” moment in AOTC, I love when he rides Boga in ROTS, and all of his fight scenes, vs Maul(and Savage too) Anakin.. all are so damn cool!
Oh, but some of my other favourite moments of his are from the books. In M&A where Obi-Wan learns about Qui Gon's invitation to the council and the argument they have afterwards is up there, as well as pretty much EVERY scene he's in in the Kenobi book, including his meditations. They are all so emotional. But I’m just gonna leave it as that because if I write more this answer is gonna be double the length lol.
Idea for a story
I also have so many! I keep a google doc where I write out all my story ideas(needless to say, it is very long) and I’ll pick a few I’m not too shy to share lol.
-A story about young Anakin(in the v early ages of his Jedi training) and Obi getting stranded on a planet with no ships or communication devices. They go through many struggles to get back to safety, but ultimately learn more about each other how to work together.
-On Tatooine, there is an event where kid Luke gets stranded alone in danger, and Obi-Wan comes to the rescue, and it’s the first time he’s really seen Luke up close in a long time bc Owen doesn’t let him near, and poor Luke was so scared he runs and gives Obi-Wan a big hug and is crying :(
I also have many AU ideas I’m working through, like what if Satine(and Korkie) survived and joined Obi-Wan on Tatooine, what if Anakin told Obi-Wan about his feelings towards Padmé and if that would have changed anything… As well as many ideas for what could have happened during Qui Gon, Satine and Obi's year on Mandalore.
Unpopular opinion
I don’t know if I have a real unpopular one! Maybe, and I don’t think this is really that controversial, is that to me he has one of if not the saddest story of all the Star Wars characters. He goes through so much tragedy and pain, but maybe the saddest part is that he always remains good throughout all of it.
Favourite relationship
Obi-Wan and Satine! Nothing even comes close. I’m usually not big on romances(normally because I think they aren’t done well) but this one is everything I could have wanted. I just wish in a way it didn’t end so tragically, but if it did then we wouldn’t have the story we do in the movies would we. Lol.
Favourite headcanon
Omg, again, there are so many. I’ve seen some people write Obi-Wan getting really painful periodic migraines and I kinda liked that idea, as well as that he barely gets any sleep because he’s always working so hard(but I think the fandom has pretty much made that one canon lol).
One head-canon idea I had is that he was bullied a lot when he was young. He was kind of small, and so some of the meaner kids underestimated/targeted him. :( This led him to develop some of his aggressive tendencies, which he eventually grew out of of course under Qui-Gon’s tutelage, but I liked the idea that maybe Anakin, once he was a knight, somehow found out from one of Obi's old friends that he used to be bullied a lot(because Obi Wan often keeps his past a secret) and was like… “What…Obi-Wan?? How? That doesn’t make any sense??” Lol.
Wow, I swear I tried to keep this shorter LOL! RIP me. 😭 Thank you though for the ask, my friend!!
Character ask post is here 😊

fic tag game
aaahhh @vishcount thank you for tagging me!!! These are so fun and I adored reading about your fic journey~!  ೖ(⑅σ̑ᴗσ̑)ೖ ❤
OH as a note!! For the ppl I tag at the end I don’t expect you to read all of this bc it’s A Lot!!! but I figured you might want to do this game yourself? haha :)
Name: cross-d-a shortened version of my first ever username. unfortunately stuck with it now haha but i’m fond of it :p wish it was cuter tho!!
Posting the rest of this under the cut so it doesn’t eat up people’s dashes!!
(。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Fandoms:
oKAY YIKES there are....honestly too many too name. I’ve got a short and obsessive attention span so it’s either all or nothing with me usually. When I can stay in a fandom for a long period of time it’s a miracle. I’ll name the bigger ones that I’ve all written fic for! Even if I’ve never posted them haha
Right now I’m very firmly into Daomu Biji (dmbj). It feels like it’s both got a crap ton of content and yet barely anything at all haha. Maybe because the English fandom is so small. But at least there are a bunch of dramas and books!!! I really, really, really adore dmbj so much!! And a large part of that is the fandom!!! It's been a really cool and unique experience! Everyone in it is truly so kind and wonderful, and I’ve made some really incredible friends because of it (looking at you vish!! ❤). I’ve got a bunch of wips, but I’ve only posted two fics for dmbj!
Before this I was very into Guardian and mdzs. MDZS was my first foray into cdramas and Guardian’s Zhu Yilong really suckered me into watching more haha I also have fics for both these fandoms!
My very first fandoms were Fullmetal Alchemist, D. Gray-Man and Naruto. My very old ffnet account has fics for these and I’ve got a bunch of newer wips on my tablet. Then Star Trek, Twilight, BBC Merlin, Sherlock, Death Note, Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon, Battlestar Galactica, Avatar the Last Airbender and Marvel were a few of my main ones in high school. Plus a bunch of anime (like Fruits Basket! and Kuroshitsuji and Natsume Yuujinchou).
Then college hit and I renewed my childhood love of Tolkien (mainly lotr and the Hobbit), and Star Wars. I also found Teen Wolf! Then after college it was Stranger Things.
I find myself in a cycle of mild fondness and complete obsession with these fandoms haha I go back to Star Wars at least once a year!! Then I’m in the gffa hole for a few months. Marvel also reoccurs, depending on how interested I am in new content! Star Trek I always always always go back to. TOS is my comfort show and it will never fade from my heart ❤
But for now I’m stuck in cdrama hell and I love it
Tropes:
Time travel, found family, whump+hurt/comfort, fairytale-like elements, resurrective immortality (thanks to a “Nine Lives” Hobbit fic), CROSSOVERS
I’m a slut for all these things so they often worm their way into my plots haha
I also just- love weird premises. I think that’s the anime influencing me haha
Fic I spent most time on:
My series he leaves sand and stardust in my wake (main fic is hurricane on the edge of oblivion), I have...spent five years on now. I have done so much research for this fic it’s insane.
The premise is force ghost!Obi-Wan getting shunted back into his tiny 10 year old self. I incorporate a shit ton of legends and I try to stay as canon as possible. I basically want this au to feel like it’s 1000% plausible while still getting all my gay shit. It’s chock full of whump, redemption, found family, minor characters turning into major characters, and I’ve got slavery uprising on the mind, too. It’s just- everything I could ever want to explore in the Star Wars universe basically.
It’s my first big project. I started doodling and scribbling ideas in the margins of my notebook in my Scottish History class. I adore it so so so much. But, because of my hyperfixation and fleeting intense obsession with things it makes it- really difficult to consistently update. I leave it for months at a time and I am constantly guilt-ridden about it. Because it’s my baby and I have a lot of wonderful readers. I fear I’ll never be able to finish it. Especially since I’ve written so much and I’m still only in the beginning of it. ( ; A ; )
Also, I’ve spent so much time with Xanatos, Feemor and Bruck that they just feel like mine now. I can’t read any fics that involve them, it’s too strange. Which is a damn shame because I love them so much haha OH ALSO!! I think it’s the first really big fic to include those three?? So I’m very proud about that haha (I’ve had so many ppl comment about how they actually Give A Shit about these three and are Invested bc of me haha)
Favorite fic(s) you’ve written:
hurricane on the edge of oblivion (with nowhere to go) (Star Wars)
My long-term passion project. My love-letter to Star Wars, I suppose. Reading it now I feel like a lot of it is clunky or long-winded, but I think it really shows the foundation of my writing today :) Main characters are Obi-Wan, Xanatos Du Crion, Qui-Gon Jinn, Bruck Chun and Feemor. Eventually we’ll get to Maul, Savage, Feral, Shmi Skywalker, (more!) Ahsoka, Anakin and a shit ton of clones ❤
things we hunger for (Guardian)
My Ye Zun self-indulgent fic. It’s a time travel amnesia Weilanzun! Honestly has some of my fav writing I’ve ever done. It’s so soft and really indulges in the hurt/comfort. It gives Ye Zun the friends and family I think he deserves. Also, he gets to grow into a (mostly!) functional person and I adore him.
the beast that slumbers within your soul (mdzs)
Jiang Cheng centric fic!! I feel like all my favourite fics I’ve written are love letters haha. This is one def my love letter to Jiang Cheng. This fic possessed me for two whole days. I wrote 16k in almost one sitting. I went to sleep at 6 in the morning bc I couldn’t stop writing. And when I drifted off I kept thinking of new ideas so I’d whip out my phone and write down lines and notes. I- have never ever ever felt that way about anything. It was- insane. It felt insane. It was so amazing. I’m still riding the memory of that high.
Basically Jiang Cheng actually finds Baoshan Sanren and it turns out she’s a fox demon and Jiang Cheng is descended from wolves. It’s- okay I said the fic above this had my favourite writing?? That was a lie. This has my favourite writing I’ve ever done. It’s unfinished bc I am in dmbj hell but I am still excited about the next chapter which features Wei Wuxian’s pov!!
the whispers of spirits (dmbj)
My current passion project. In a way it kinda feels similar to hurricane? Bc multiple povs, incorporating different aspects of canon (we’ll get there!! I promise!), shit ton of research, etc. etc. I really really really love it for so many reasons. I’m basically taking all the things I was unsatisfied with in Reboot and Sha Hai and running with it. Found family and whump galore! It’s also a love letter to the women of dmbj who really deserve so so so much better.
Honourable mention to:
One Day (you’ll have given more of yourself than is meant to be taken) (Marvel)
This fic also kinda possessed me. I just- couldn’t get rid of the idea of a trans!Thor. And I mean a mtf Thor! It’s just? So many people look at Thor and go “that’s a Real Man.” Full stop. They never think there could be anything more, and it really really really bothered me. So I wrote out my feelings. I’m not trans. I don’t have that experience at all. I’ve had issues and confusion about my gender but nothing like this. I just wanted to do justice to this idea of Thor in my head. And I still feel a bit nervous having posted it. But I've gotten so many comments from people who really connected with what I’ve written? So I’m very very thankful I wrote it and it has a very special place in my heart. It’s a very cathartic fic.
Fic I spent least time on:
Probably we rise (Star Wars) and I think it shows haha. I wrote it in response to Dave Filoni posting a drawing of Ahsoka and Gandalf telling her “People thought I was dead, too, and look how that turned out...” So I incorporated Ahsoka (and Din and Grogu and Ezra!!!) into the ending of Rise of Skywalker, kinda explaining how I think they could all still be alive. :)
Longest fic:
hurricane is my longest fic (159k) but I’m kinda worried whispers will eclipse that.....
Shortest fic:
Of my posted ones it’s The Five Moments it Took Tony and Scott to Admit They Were Best Friends (and the first time they ever did), currently clocks at 1.6k. It’s unfinished tho so maybe that doesn’t count.... otherwise it’s we rise which is completed and 2k.
Most hits/kudos/comments/bookmarks:
hurricane overall has the most of all these. Though I don’t think hits counts as much bc it’s multi-chapter. If you discount multi-chapter stuff, most hits goes to my obikin smutfic Homecoming, bc people are horny af haha
Fic you want to rewrite/expand on:
If I had energy I’d like to rewrite the beginning of hurricane bc it feels so so wordy. I’d want to expand on One Day bc I really would like to write a whole series with trans!Thor. And like- I’d really like the focus to finish any of my WIPs.
Share a bit of a WIP: I really wanna share my Guardian/dmbj crossover that I started back in August. Bc I adore the idea of wu xie&shen wei&ye zun triplets! Plus time travel!!! I dunno if I’ll ever finish it tho ( ; A ; ) It just feels like a lot to deal with right now.
This scene takes place during the Mountain Awl arc. Guardian crew and desperado fam run across each other at the village! Wu Xie has recently found out that he’s adopted and he’s searching for answers in the area Sanshu originally found amnesiac!toddler!Wu Xie in :) Gonna pull two snippets bc I’m v excited and this might be the only time anyone else sees this fic haha:
“Oh?” Pangzi focuses on Yunlan now, lips twisting. “You think I’ve ‘got the wrong guy,’ huh?” He laughs, but it’s not a nice sound. “That’s rich! Are you that cocky or are you just stupid?”
Bristling, Yunlan drops his hands and scowls. “Excuse me?”
“Sir,” Shen Wei tries. “I think—”
Pangzi’s eyes snap back to Shen Wei, sharp and blazing. “How dare you fucking steal his face!”
What?
Automatically, Zhao Yunlan turns to Shen Wei, but the professor looks just as shell-shocked as Zhao Yunlan feels which- is seriously something. Since everything about Shen Wei is so carefully controlled, kept to the minimum. Except for those delightful little smiles that bloom across his lovely face, or the startled little bursts of laughter that fall from his lips. Or even when anger and frustration spark across his features, cracking his calm veneer open enough that he can see a glimmer of what lies beneath, the fire in those eyes. Zhao Yunlan delights in those moments, makes a game of making Shen Wei’s control slip.
He tells himself it’s nothing more than a game. Nothing more than trying to find out what makes Shen Wei tick.
Zhao Yunlan’s always been very bad at lying to himself. Or very good. Depending on who you’re asking.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Yunlan splutters.
But before anyone can say anything else, a very familiar voice calls:
“Pangzi? What’s wrong?”
Yunlan can feel Shen Wei stiffen, and Yunlan himself is pulled to that voice like a planet in orbit, like the inevitable plummet to the ground.
Another shadow wavers in the doorway before it steps out onto the dirt. Light illuminates shaggy hair, limning it gold, sharply casting everything else in shadow. But as the figure nears, the contrast softens until Yunlan can see the newcomer’s face properly and- and—
“Wu Xie!” Pangzi growls. “We’ve got ourselves an impostor!”
The man wearing Shen Wei’s face steps up to them, brows furrowed and mouth pulled down into a sharp frown. He glances between them, eyes landing on Shen Wei. His scowl deepens. He opens his mouth, but then—
“Wu Xie?” Shen Wei breathes, all trembly and lost and hopeless.
Heart in his throat, Yunlan turns to Shen Wei again. Turns and flinches at that stricken look upon Shen Wei’s pale pinched face.
“A-Xie?” Shen Wei chokes. “Didi?”
and
Pangzi snorts. “Professor?”
“I-it’s true!”
Startled Yunlan swings his attention over to Jiajia who clenches her backpack to her chest, face screwed up in admirable determination. “P-professor Shen took me and Xiao Quan on a field trip to investigate an archeological site around here!”
“Oh?” Wu Xie drawls all slow and amused. “Well, what a coincidence. We’re archeologists, too.”
“With guns?” Yunlan bites out.
Wu Xie raises a brow, grin full of teeth. “Well, you can never be too prepared.”
“Right,” Yunlan drawls right back. “Are you a professor, too, then? You come here with your students?”
Wu Xie outright grins. “You could say that, I suppose.”
Out of the corner of his eye, one of the men rolls his eyes. He’s the one with sharp features, glasses and looped earbuds. Does he think it’s appropriate to listen to music at a time like this? Yunlan admires the man’s gall.
aahhhh vish thanks so much again for tagging me!! This was so fun to relive my fic memories!! I’m gonna tag @alwaysaslutforshakespeare @jockvillagersonly @tehfanglyfish @lichelleme @undyingsunshine @humanlighthouse  @thewindsofsong I’m curious about your guys’ writing and fandom journey!! As always, no pressure to actually complete this!! I just thought it was fun ❤
Wow if you read all of this I am very humbled and impressed, thank you!!

star wars!!! or cr if it's been requested already
the first character i ever fell in love with: obied wans,,,,,
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: i love. LOVE. L O V E. ahsoka. however it’s true what they say when they say too much of a good thing is bad. she’s turning into the star wars version of varric and i am, how u say, Tired Of It.
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: hilariously i simply do not care enough about shipping in star wars to have an answer for this one that’s not what i’m here for i’m here for the lightsaber combat and the jedi baybeeee
edit: wait i guess uhhhhh hanluke? i think there was like a solid three months where i liked it. it’s not that i don’t like it anymore it’s that i just don’t really think about it.... does this count
my ultimate favorite character™: [[GENERAL GRIEVOUS VOICE]] G E N E R A L    K E N O B I,
i understand the sith only in that i, too, am absolutely obsessed with obi wan kenobi
prettiest character: even as an obi wan stan i know the correct answer is the one, the only, padme amidala
my most hated character: kylenol ronald
my OTP: STORMPILOT....... anidala but like if it was well written. hanleia bc i’m not saying they were formative, but like,, rogueish snarker falling in love with someone terrifyingly competent.... im just sayin.........
my NOTP: please no with the ob/kin or the qu/obi. or the an/soka. no master/padawan pairs in general i am begging of you to cease and desist
favorite episode: YOU WERE MY BROTHER ANAKIN. I LOVED YOU.
saddest death: maul’s because it didn’t stick hDJKSG sequel trio’s character arcs may they rest in fuckin peace. oh and anakin’s in ep 3 + qui gon’s in ep 1. ALDERAAN ): satine’s in tcw because truly can we stop fridging these ladies for the drama. padme too bc ‘she lost the will to live’ like hUH??? HELLO?????? i know we ascribe her dying to palps draining her of life to sustain vader but c’mon man what kinda bullshit reason was that like we coulda gone with literally anything else like oh idk a sith lord fucking FORCE CHOKING HER when she was heavily pregnant + the emotional/physical/mental stress of watching a literal genocide happen + the shitty air quality of mustafar like c’mon with the “lost the will to live” smh
favorite season: do i look like i remember which clone wars arc happened in which season. i still haven’t finished watching tcw not because i don’t want to but because i keep forgetting that after a certain point it’s just sadness all the way down and im not ready 2 relive that (order 66) yet
least favorite season: see above. does the sequel trilogy (except for tfa aka ‘the calm before the storm’) count bc i really think that that should count
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: kylie renner. i just think he could’ve been written better but that’s applicable to anybody in the last two movies. he was interesting in tfa i will say. but as he was simply a dollar store version of anakin......... please. as if kyle has the range to accomplish what anakin did. the disrespect of it all. also hux bc i get it he’s a white boy but.... really?
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: ANAKIN STOP PANAKIN
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: god remember when padme was more than a love interest bc i’m trying to manifest this energy always
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: don’t look at me okay the scene where jango and obi wan have that heated conversation in aotc lives in my head rent free
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: i...... listen. listen obitine is cute but i really cannot get over the whole satine wholesale rejecting her culture like bro.....

The Force Between Us
Ben Kenobi x SithLord!Reader
Synopsis: The sith life was the only one you knew about, or at least you thought it was. When you come face to face with the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, he opens up memories you forget you had.
Song: Billie Eilish - Bad Guy (PatrickReza Remix) (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Wb-oJ6WVy0)
Word Count: 2.1k
A/n: I had this idea based off of this song and also because I’m going as a sith to make a red lightsaber at Disneyworld... Gifs are not mine btw. The first one I can’t find the original owner but the second one this beautiful person edited @kingsleigh (I saw your gif and just had to use it! Hope that was alright)
Italics are memories
Tumblr media
The lightning flashed overhead, illuminating your haunted face as you stared down the Jedi below. You stood perched on top of your ship, red lightsaber glowing beside you as you chuckled darkly at the man’s reaction.
They were always so flighty.
“Well hello there, Jedi” you sickly cooed as you jumped off the ship, the sound of your landing being enhanced with the sound of the thunder. “I have fought many sith lords before... But not one of them was a woman” he joked hoping to lighten the terrible anger in the air, but the comment only made it worse. “Oh really. Lucky you” you sang out sharply as you rolled your saber around in your hand causing it to woosh and hiss as the water struck it. “My comment wasn’t demeaning-”
“I’m a sith lord, not some princess” you snarled as you pointed the blade at him, taking note on how while he was holding his saber steady, you could sense the nervousness in the air. He didn’t want to fight you, only making you more offended at the thought of it. He didn’t respond to your comment, yet something in his face changed.
“You may not be a princess, but I would like to know your name before I begin” he stated shakily, he had an idea who you were and he wanted it to be false. “Y/n” you responded cooly before twirling the saber once more, bored at the conversation and simply wanting to get to the good stuff. The stuff you were trained to do.
“My names-”
“Jedi Master Kenobi, I have heard of you and I’m not impressed” you teased as you moved your body to get into a fighting stance if he wasn’t going to start then you would. He opened his mouth to say something back but you took off towards him. Jumping up, you came down quickly with your blade raised high. He would block it, they always did. The crackling sound of your blades slamming with each other felt like music to your ears as you smiled darkly down at him. He was taller than you, but at this angle, you were in control. “You talk too much “ you scolded as he slammed back, finally snapping out of his daze. You balanced yourself and cocked your eyebrow at him, challenging him.
“Tell me” he started as he spun to block your swing, “How do you know me my dear” he grunted out as he swung back to you. His swings were easy for you to block, and they were intentional as he didn’t want to hurt you. However, your swings were full of anger and purpose, meaning you knew him in some other way. He already knew you didn’t remember him, but there was something else that was lingering in your e/c eyes that had a slight yellow glow.
“Oh really?? You don’t realize what you’ve done to me?!” you screamed as you swung your blade at his side. He blocked it and locked eyes with you, the rage in your blood only making the yellow in your eyes glow brighter. “I’m done with this foolish game” you snarled before cupping your hand and ripping his lightsaber away with the force. It flew across the landing and laid in a puddle of rain, Ben didn’t have time to get it before you had slammed him to the wall. Your hand was shaking from both the amount of power you were using as well as the anger that was coursing through your veins. This man took everything from you, and he didn’t even realize it.
“You took him from me. My mentor, my master, MY EVERYTHING” you screamed as you closed your fist, choking Ben as he struggled to get out of your grip. He needed you to see. “You’re wrong” he grunted out as he gazed at you longingly, so much anger.
This wasn’t you.
You let him go with a huff before swinging your lightsaber back around. “You killed my master, Darth Maul... And now, I will kill you” you growled out before stomping over to his collapsed form. Ben regained enough strength to draw his lightsaber to him just in time to block your final blow. As he looked up at you sadly, he saw confusion in your orbs.
Tumblr media
You were always taught to never falter, but he was thankful you did. Standing up swiftly, he kicked your blade away before forcing you into a stance. Your eyes widened in shock and his fingertips slammed against your forehead.
“Remember me”
His words and touch made your yellow eyes roll back as images passed through your mind. You fought the feeling of wanting to dive deep into these memories for a second, but soon you were sucked into them. Your head went limp and he supported it as he laid you down carefully on the wet ground. Your eyes danced behind your eyelids and the thunder roared louder as he tried to protect your body from the heavy rainfall. “Please work” he whispered to himself as he caressed your cheek softly, he wanted you back. This wasn’t you. You were no sith.
You were a Jedi.
“Ben come on stop chasing me!!” a little voice cried out as you turned your body towards it. Two children came running into the room and your eyes widened in fear that they would see you, but they didn’t. “What the hell” you whispered as you watched the boy catch up to the h/c girl. Her smile was bright and playful despite the threatening tone in her voice.
“Come on Y/n, you have to get used to chases if you wanna be a Jedi” the boy teased as he pulled at the girl's braid. “Y/n???” you muttered out as you stepped closer to the pair. The little girl couldn’t have been more than 5 while the boy only 7, but the way the pair bickered reminded you of an old married couple. The ones that you would see on your missions to different planets. The ones that you regretted killing the most. You cocked your head at the bickering girl, something about her other than her name seemed familiar, but you didn’t know what.
“What Ben, do you not believe a woman can be powerful!?” The little girl's question brought you out of your daze and your head snapped to the boy, mentally challenging him to say the wrong thing. “Of course not-”
“Ben Kenobi! Choose your next words wisely” the little girl snarled as her arms crossed in front of her while her little foot tapped impatiently. The boy only smiled at her, he was already proud of who she had become. You would have noticed his longing gaze if you weren't too busy freaking out at his name. “Kenobi” you whispered as the scene began to get wobbly in front of your eyes. “Hey WAIT!!! I wasn’t done with that-”
Your words were cut off by the scene now laid in front of you. The h/c child, now around the age of 10 was passed out in the arms of your master. The room was dark and the energy was different. Looking around the room, you saw the boy hiding behind a desk, shaking in fear. You sighed at his fear until you heard Maul talking to no one in particular, turning back to your late master, you gazed at the child in his arms. “She will remember her life as a Jedi in training... Her heart will not belong to the order of the Siths.” Your eyebrows crinkled before your eyes widened in the realization of who the child was.
“That's me” you whispered as your lip trembled and you looked back to Ben as he watched with teary eyes. You felt his sadness and wondered how your late master didn’t feel him in the room as well.
“Then we will erase her memories...” your blood ran cold as you turned back slowly. The Emperor emerged from the shadows causing you to subconsciously bow your head to him, the energy in the room changed and his energy masked the child’s. “She will be a child of the sith... The perfect specimen”
Your head raised and your blood began to boil as you watched your smaller self cuddle deeper into the sith’s robes. You could sense hesitance in Maul, but he handed over the child all the same and you growled as your younger self was passed to the Emperor.
Palpatine's head snapped to you causing your breath to hitch. “I see you hiding in the shadows young one...” Your eyes widened as you turned slowly to Ben who was now standing in the shadows, ready to fight and get you back. “No Ben” you whispered out shakily as you stepped towards the young boy. “Give her back. She is no Sith scum” he growled back causing your heart to lurch into your throat. You knew he’d survive but he was pushing you to your limit. Palpatine's dark laugh echoed in the room, “My child... I suggest you stay in the dark and forget this happened” he growled out. It wasn’t a suggestion for the young boy...
It was a warning.
“I won't let you take her” Ben growled back as he got into his fighting stance. “Well, that's too bad, boy” Palpatine muttered before turning around “Because that’s what we are going to do.” Ben stepped forward but Palpatine stopped him in his tracks, causing the young boy to scream and cry in angst. “Come, Darth Maul...” Palpatine called out as he stopped at the door.
“We have a Sith Lord to create”
Your eyes snapped open as you took a large intake of breath. The thunder cracked overhead and you saw Ben, and older Ben, hovering above you. His blue eyes shone brightly as the lightning illuminated his features. His hair fell in thick strands and the rain that was being stopped by his body was now dripping down his locks onto your face. “Do you remember?” His voice was shaky, you had only been out for a minute but he was afraid that it wouldn’t work or worse, you wouldn’t care.
“Ben” you whispered out as your yellow orbs faded back into their normal e/c. A smile formed on your face as you reached up to caress his cold, wet cheek. “They made me forget you” he nodded at your words before running his shaky fingers through your soaked tresses, loving the feeling of having you in his arms. “We searched for you for 25 years... We never stopped” he reassured as he sat you up and leaned you against his chest, trying his best to warm your shivering form. The embrace was delicate and now with your memories restored, you felt whole once more.
“I can't go back” you whispered in the realization of all you have done as a sith lord, terrible and horrible things were done by your doing. Ben felt your sadness and pulled you in deeper, “You were never a sith, Y/n...” he cooed as he pressed his lips to your forehead. You held your breath before gripping onto his brown robe, anticipating the next words that were to come.
“You will always be a Jedi”
He felt your body shake and realized that you were crying below him. He knew your transition would be hard and that you would have a difficult time believing you could be good once again... But he would be there for you. “How were you able to snap me out of it Ben?” you whimpered as you gazed up at him with a new feeling in your heart. One that you haven’t felt in a long time.
Love.
He smiled down at you sheepishly before scratching his neck. He didn’t know how he was going to tell you that you were soulmates and that your force bond was strong enough to snap you out of it. But he knew that you needed to get to a warm place and fast. Standing up, he pulled you up with him and steadied you. He reached down and grabbed your lightsaber on the ground before putting his in its holder.
“How about I tell you on the way to the Jedi Council?”
You nodded shakily at his statement but understood that you two needed to leave, not only because of the cold but because of your current situation. He helped you along to his x-wing but before he could help you get in, you stopped him and pressed your hands against his face. “Thanks for saving me, Jedi” you whispered out before pressing your lips hungrily against his, he kissed back with little hesitation and he knew he would definitely have to answer to the Jedi Council about kissing a sith lord... But for now, he enjoyed the feeling of having you once more in his arms.
Right, where you belonged.

a/n: hi! this was something i have been wanting to do for a looonnnggg time. sorry if my writing is poor in the first chapter, the set-up is always the hardest part. a lot of the plot in this chapter is driven by the dialogue. this is chapter one (more will come in the future if it does well!)
let me know if you want to be tagged!
summary: august moor, a padawan in training under the jedi master qui-gon, ponders the meaning of the title jedi. she finds herself in a mysterious encounter with none other than the sith lord, darth maul.
Tumblr media
the sun dipped below the horizon, casting an orange glow over coruscant. a young woman strolled through a meadow, grateful for the summer breeze as it rolled through the grass. the surrounding forest was a variety of green hues, the trees lush with life. the moon was high in the sky, waxing towards a full moon. soon, the stars would be out, dancing across the night. soon, the shades of lilac, burgundy, cyan, and tangerine would be replaced by a rich navy blue.
the stars glittered above, beginning to dot the sky. the girl's lips curved into a smile as her fingertips brushed the blades, contentment flooding her senses. the girl felt as ease, her mind relaxed. there was nothing more she loved than stargazing after an exhausting day of training.
"where do you think you're running off to?" a voice called out in the dusk.
the girl turned, her brows furrowed, "and who do you think you are, obi-wan kenobi? you are not my master."
"i am aware," the padawan chuckled, "you're never one to do things like this. is there something on your mind?"
"i can't have fun?" the girl teased, nudging obi-wan.
"well," a light blush tinged obi-wan's cheeks, "i didn't mean to come off as rude. my deepest apologies to you, august.
august stifled a giggle, "there's no need for such formalities here, obi-wan. we're not in font of the jedi council, nor master qui-gon."
a shy smile formed on the padawan's lips as he admired august momentarily. her eyes were focused on the stars, as they were beginning to twinkle as the sky transitioned to a deep shade of blue. the moon was full, casting a glow on their surroundings. the light softened her features, yet it did not take away from her beauty.
her brunette hair was woven into an intricate half-down, half-up style.  free strands of hair swayed along with the breeze, her blue eyes glimmering. obi-wan swallowed thickly, careful not to stare a second longer. her eyes shifted, falling on the padawan.
"you're quiet tonight. is there something on your mind?"
"no," obi-wan shook his head, "i believe i am just a little spent from today's training."
"qui-gon did a number on you, huh?" august smirked, shooting obi-wan a wink.
obi-wan scoffed, folding his arms across his chest, "we trained in the same temple today, if you don't remember."
august laughed once more, falling to the cool grass. she gazed the stars, a wisftul smile painting her features, "are you going to stargaze with me or are you going to run back to the temple and inform master qui-gon that i snuck off?"
the padawan laid in the grass, close to august. his eyes drifted up towards the sky, widening in awe at the beauty of the constellations dancing above him.
august piped up, her voice warm and soft, "you know, my parents used to tell me stories about fallen jedi. how they join with the stars after they pass away. i truly believe that the jedi are always keeping a close eye over us, while also letting us know that they are not too far out of reach."
"were your parents jedi?" obi-wan inquired, a slight wave of shame wash over him. he did not want to pry too much without being too nosy.
"fuck no," august yawned, "both of my parents are alive and well, settled on the planet of takodana. my home planet is naboo, but they have moved since my training began. i have not seen them since i was about seven years old. we haven't spoken since."
"it seems as if i got you beat," a sigh escaped from obi-wan's lips, "i was taken as a youngling when i was only three years old."
"three years old?" august rolled over, propping herself up with her elbow, "holy shit kenobi. that's ridiculous."
"do you realize how often the jedi council take younglings?" obi-wan arched a brow, "once they can sense that they are force sensitive, the youglings are often newborns or infants."
"oh," august widened her eyes, "that's.."
"it is quite intriguing," he sucked in a breath, "yet, it is for the greater good of the jedi. once the council is aware of their abilities, it is best they start training as early as possible. the more skilled we are, the better."
"you're such a pushover," august snorted, rolling her eyes, "do you ever wonder if the jedi are always the divine beings they claim they are?"
"you're beginning to worry me," obi-wan retorted, "you're talking like a sith, august."
"i am just speaking what's on my mind," she exhaled, rolling onto her back once more, "you don't ever think about what would happen if you didn't seek the route of a jedi? if you were just a normal, ordinary being on your home planet? don't those thoughts keep you up late at night? do you ever just ponder?"
"there really is more to you than meets the eye," the padawan observed, "however, you must recall that jedi who are one with the force do not chose whether or not we possess these capabilities. we are born with them, as we are chosen by the force to bring balance to the universe."
august groaned, "spare me the bullshit, obi-wan. you sound more and more like qui-gon every day."
"is that such a bad thing?" obi-wan arched a brow.
"i'm just so tired of all of this mumbo-jumbo bullshit about the jedi and all of the regulations we have to follow," she snorted, "it's all so pointless and for what? to hold some title because we're gifted with capabilities that others do not have?"
"you are quite opinionated tonight," he chuckled, "august, i am sure with time we will understand the ways of the jedi. for now, it is beyond our control. for now, if it does not offend you, i am going to retire to my quarters for rest. we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow."
"yeah, yeah," august waved a hand, "just ignore all of my rambles. thank you for listening though. goodnight, obi-wan kenobi. may you find comfort in knowing that you will keep following the rules. meanwhile, i'll be here."
obi-wan rose to his feet, "goodnight august, may you find peace in your thoughts."
august only hummed in response, her eyes following a comet as it blazed across the skyline. the tail was a flashing white. memories drifted into her mind, taking over the thoughts of the present. two individuals towered over her, their faces blurred. she stiffened, her veins ice cold as she witnessed one of the beings pick her up, handing her over to an unknown shadow.
august let out a scream, tears streaming down her cheeks. her mind buzzed, thoughts of agony and despair filtering through her skull. an empty feeling consumed her, her heart racing. the world felt so cold. so cruel. why was this happening? why was this happening now?
august blinked, her breathing coming in short, ragged breaths. the meadow was now crumbling away. squeezing her eyes shut, she shook her head desperately trying to shake away the horrible, gut-wrenching emotions. opening her eyes, a new environment surrounded her.
her eyes met with a marble floor, her nose brushing against the surface. the marble was a rich black, the air in the room sterile. august blinked once more, realizing that she was in a training room. sacks full of an unknown material hung around the room, as if they were punching bags.
widening her eyes, august's heart stopped at the sight before her. a zabrak wielded two sabers, a faint hum reverberating off the walls as he practiced his technique. his muscles rippled under his crimson and black skin, horns adorning the top of his skull. strings of curses tumbled from his lips, a planet in which august had no translation.
"h-hello?" august squeaked, her voice quiet.
the zabrak ceased all movement, turning abruptly, the sabers in his grasps pointed in the august's face. his amber eyes blazed with fury, his words a snarl, "who are you? how did you get in here?"
"i do not mean any harm," august yelped, raising her hands in surrender. she could feel the heat radiated off the blades of the sabers.
the zabrak inhaled, the girl's sweet scent flooding his nostrils. he sensed a trace of wildflowers and grass, "you're not from around here, are you?"
"you're v-very right," august stuttered, "i am not from around here."
his eyes scanned the space, searching for any sign of entrance. the only possible way the girl could have gotten in was through the use of a saber, as the door was to his right. she appeared in the room from the left, "where did you come from?"
"i am from coruscant," the mysterious girl mumbled.
the zabrak's lips curled into a sinister grin, flashing his incisors, "i cannot believe it. a jedi has fallen directly into my hands. what should i do with you?"
"i am no jedi," the girl sneered, folding her arms over her chest.
the sincerity in her statement sparked interest within the zabrak. turning his sabers off, he slid them into their holsters. cocking his head, his eyes narrowed, "you're not with the jedi, yet you come from coruscant?"
"i am only training to become one," the girl averted the zabrak's gaze.
"i am maul," the zabrak sat on the floor, curiosity getting the best of him, "what's your name?"
"my name is august moor," the girl replied, tucking a strand behind her ear, "i'm not sure how i ended up here."
maul closed his eyes, reaching out to august. his breath hitched in his throat, as her emotions consumed him entirely. he could sense her fear, her anxiety, "you're anxious. why are you anxious?"
"because i don't know who you are and how i ended up here!" august scoffed, her tone indignant.
maul opened his eyes, noticing august's features for the first time. her skin was pale, with undertones of pink, a blush tinging her cheeks. her eyes were a shade of gray, hints of blue swimming within their depths. her brunette hair was down, with a braid woven around her head. strands of hair poked up, more than likely from a fall.
although she was sitting, maul couldn't help but notice her curves, her thighs full. it was without a doubt that she was beautiful, even if maul didn't know a single thing about her. she was donned in a grey tunic, royal blue fabric wrapped around her chest.
"don't be scared," maul murmured, "i am just as confused as you are."
august's eyes widened as she noticed the amber eyes of the zabrak, a ring of crimson around his irises. she swallowed thickly, recalling one truth she learned during her early days of training, "you're a sith, aren't you?"
"i am," maul dipped his head, "you happened to interrupt my training."
"you train in solitude?" august arched a brow.
"sometimes," maul shrugged, his eyes glancing around the room, "my master is away, on a mission."
"maul," his name was enticing as it tumbled from her lips, "why haven't we killed one another yet?"
her question shocked him. yet, it was a question burning through his mind, consuming his thoughts as he spoke to her. the sith and jedi had been quarreling for years, yet, when he laid his eyes on her, he couldn't help but feel compelled to reach out to her. to touch her. to hold her. hold her in his arms and never let her go.
what had brought august here? was it the force? even as a sith, the force was a powerful entity to the zabrak. it was something he had yet to understand, to fully comprehend. maybe the force had brought them together, but the question that rang through maul's mind was why? why had the force brought them together?
"i just as unsure as you are," maul's voice was low, eerily quiet.
"should we touch and see what happens?" august inquired, her eyes curious.
"i guess we could explore that option," he rumbled, his crimson and black hand reaching out, "although, i'm not quite sure what will happen if we do. the world around us might implode."
august reciprocated, her hand tiny compared to the zabrak's. however, once skin came in contact with skin, their worlds went back. august shot up, her heart thudding in her chest as she glanced around the meadow, feeling as if the entire incident was just a dream. a wild, vivid, intense dream. rising to her feet, she took a hesitant step through the grass, her knees wobbling. the moon was high in the sky, signaling that a few hours had past.
meanwhile, a zabrak rose to his feet, a dull throbbing in his skull. his muscles ached, sore from hours of combat training. he let out a few, ragged breaths, attempting to clear his cloudy mind. the encounter with the padawan must have been a nightmare, or rather, an interesting daydream. whatever it was, his master, darth sidious could never hear about this. he could never find the truth. yet, when darth maul strolled down the corridor of his ship, a feeling of loneliness unraveled. he couldn't help but feel an engrained feeling of sadness, laced with regret.
glancing out the viewport, maul gazed at the horizon stretched before him. an endless array of stars glittered, shining bright.
huffing, august shivered as another breeze rolled through the meadow, the chill seeping through her clothing. yet, she couldn't help but give the sky above her once last look, taking in the way the stars twinkled.
two lost souls stared at the stars, wondering if the other knew.
august slipped underneath her sheets, her eyelids heavy. she dozed off, dreaming of her encounter from earlier. the meeting was a pure coincidence. surely there was no driving force behind it. it was all a simple daydream or fever dream.
darth maul felt exhaustion rack his body, almost collapsing to the floor. he was tired, as he practiced combat technique for hours. yet, this was a new wave of sleep overcomig him. the zabrak crawled to his bed, dreaming about his interaction with the padawan. more than anything, he wanted to permanently ingrain the image of her in his memories, her beauty captivating.
a sith and padawan's paths intertwined, under the same stars.
