This August, the 3zun discord server is reaching its one year anniversary, and in celebration, we’re hosting a fandom-wide event dedicated to 3zun and all of its combinations!

3zun Month, 3zun Week: Communication - Distance, 325 words

"You lied to him, A-Yao!"

"I lie to everybody!" Meng Yao snaps and regrets it immediately when Xichen's expression shutters. He was never supposed to hurt Xichen. He never wanted to hurt Mingjue, either, but that's much harder to accomplish.

Seeing this discussion is going nowhere, Meng Yao goes to his room and starts packing a bag. He can't remember the last time he slept on that single bed, but that only makes him angrier. He goes back to the living room, backpack in hand, and goes right past Xichen and straight to the front door.

"Where are you going?"

Meng Yao ignores the question and reaches for his keys. He doesn't know the answer, anyway.

"I'll call you in the morning, okay?" Xichen calls out, the desperation clear in his tone, but Meng Yao closes the door and leaves without another word.

The tears only come when he reaches the sidewalk and can't decide which way to go.

Xichen goes back to the master bedroom, their bedroom, where Mingjue sits on the bed, head hanging low, hands clasped between his knees.

"Da-ge...""You know what's worse?" Mingjue interrupts without looking up. "I wish I could hate him," he finishes and buries his face in his hands.

"Don't say that," Xichen's voice wobbles, the tears he had been trying to hold back coming in full force.

"It's true, though," Mingjue says fiercely, looking up. "Even now, when I shoudn't care if he's dead in a ditch, I'm worried. I want to scream at you for letting him leave in that state because we know he's going to do something really stupid, like go to his damned father's house."

"No one lets him do anything, Mingjue. He does what he wants, you know that," Xichen elects to ignore the rest of the sentence. He's aware Mingjue is right, but he doesn't know what to do about it.

Mingjue only huffs, unamused. "I sure do."

Starting off 3zun Month with a little tender xiyao!!!! August 2 is Hurt/Comfort (Failure, Old wounds)

Rating: Teen and Up Tags: Modern AU, h/c, established relationship Summary: Lan Huan is excited to have his first night alone with his boyfriend, but when Meng Yao leads Lan Huan back to his bedroom for the first time, an unexpected discovery temporarily derails the evening.

General warning for discussion of past maternal death, depression, etc.

Though they’d been dating for nearly four months already (and had been friends for nearly seven), tonight was the first time Meng Yao had invited Lan Huan back to his place, and Lan Huan was admittedly nervous--and perhaps more than a little excited, considering it would be the first time the two of them were actually going to be alone together for more than a handful of minutes.

They had met at the beginning of the fall semester in a Political Philosophy class, and Lan Huan had wanted to talk to Meng Yao from the moment he’d laid eyes on him. He’d been instantly swept away by his handsome smile and the adorable dimples that came along with it, and by the end of their second class together, Lan Huan had mustered the nerve to ask Meng Yao if he wanted to study together; Lan Huan could have fainted from relief when Meng Yao actually agreed.

It had taken a couple months of heated glances and brushing fingers before either of them made a move. While they were sitting in a library study room, watching a documentary for class, Lan Huan managed to put his hand on Meng Yao’s, and spent about five seconds panicking in silence before Meng Yao turned his hand over to hold Lan Huan’s in return. As they were packing up their things at the end of the day, Meng Yao asked Lan Huan if he wanted to head to a nearby café for drinks, and Lan Huan couldn’t have agreed more eagerly.

Soon after, Lan Huan asked Meng Yao out to dinner, and their first kiss was shared outside of the restaurant as they headed towards Lan Huan’s car, Lan Huan’s heart going a mile a minute as he marveled over how soft and warm Meng Yao’s lips felt against his.

And that before he met Lan Xichen, he had a secret son with a woman who turned out to be his sister. So you would think that Lan Xichen would hate his ex-husband, but he doesn't. He misses him.
