What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?  borderline. That plot was complicated for me and it took a LOT out of me to write it.

What work of yours has the most hits?  borderline.

What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?  a sky of honey. I was surprised at how many people liked the previous fic and wanted to see more! I didn't expect that.

Favorite title you used?  savestate. it's a bad pun that made me laugh.

If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most?  I owe Kate Bush for most of my fic titles, lbr.

Pairing you wrote the most for this year?  Superbat <3 my beloved

Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?  Lex & Bruce in a sky of honey was actually a surprise fave. Lex's dialogue and bickering with Bruce is so much fun.

What work was the quickest to write?  Ironically, the first few chapters of borderline.

What work took you the longest to write?  bloodletting takes a while to update because of the mando'a translations. Probably 3-4x longer than a normal chapter update.

How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?  Just one or two so far.

What’s your longest work of the year?  a sky of honey, clocking in at 95,618 words.

What’s your shortest work of the year?  do it again.

What do you listen to while writing?  My increasingly complex spotify playlists. Depends on the type of writing.

Favorite work you wrote this year? I actually really liked nocturn and synchronicity.

Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?  It's so hard to decide. Probably one of the mando'a jokes I made in Jason's dialogue.

Biggest surprise while writing this year?  People do still tell you to kill yourself over fanfiction online! Bizarre.

In 2023 I published 19 works on Ao3, totalling 44,982 words. Of those nineteen, eighteen were Harry Potter and one was Tomb Raider.

I wrote three drarry microfics: Roleplay (193 words), Travel (89 words) and Skirt (117 words).

Out of the rest of the fifteen works, four of them were femslash:

Little Agonies (Padma/Lavender) (898 words)

Parvati is always there for Lavender after a transformation.

and an endless sky, stretching high above (Luna/Ginny) (2006 words)

After the war, Ginny wishes she could become someone else.

How did they get here? Pansy isn’t sure. Everything’s hazy, since the war, but Granger is solid.

The other eleven works were M/M, with ten of them drarry and one of them Sirius/Draco.

Sirius/Draco was 'dirty filthy secret' based on @basiatlu's art of them: To Touch You is Like Swimming in Mercury.

Long fingers pluck a blackberry from the bramble bush, and place it onto a pink tongue. Rolling it around his mouth, savouring the sweet-sour taste, before biting it with white, sharp teeth, and it goes pop in his mouth.

Harry had always known that Malfoy’s mouth was obscene, but this was something else entirely.

In The Woods Somewhere (WIP)(E, Noncon) (25,999 words) Fenrir/Draco, Draco/Harry.

Draco can't remember what the world was like before Fenrir took him. His life is the cabin and the woods that surround it. But one night in winter, Fenrir kidnaps a man he calls an old enemy, and Draco's life is forever changed.

Tomb Raider:

Scar Tissue for Febuwhump 2023. (Sam/Lara, 852 words)

Lara has so many scars.

AO3 Year in Review

Saw a bunch of people doing this so thought I would too. Here we go (info based the ao3 stats page):

Words written: 491, 892

New fics: 43

Kudos: 10,904

Comments: 1,012

Hits: 104, 730

Big changes: I archive locked my fics.

I switched to mainly writing One Piece fics.

Across the board all my numbers are down and there are three reasons. One going full time to work and pinching a nerve, this fall I had a month where I didn't post anything at all. Two, anime fandom - anime and video game fandoms are bad for commenting. Three, I archive locked. That is the biggest. For context in 2022 my kudos were 29,626 and my hits were 306,079. By a combination of all these things I lost about 2/3rds of my numbers.

So do I regret any of it that lead to the changes? NOPE. I mean, okay regret the pinched nerve. But anime fandom has smaller response than witcher yeah, but also getting less hate than I did there. I'm writing more variety of ships which I really enjoy doing. Archive locking has also cut down the bit of hate I did get because 9/10 it was on guest (shout out to the person who had 1 eight year old fic posted telling me how juvenile my writing was and as a writer they would want to know why people didn't finish their work - god bless you ao3 block button).

Right now no intentions of un-archive locking my fics. Because there is no reason to not have an ao3 account. Gives me an extra layer of protection that I like.

Plans for the upcoming year. Write. Remind myself it is okay if it isn't a lot writing in even 15 minute bursts makes me happy so do that. Continue writing One Piece, some ATLA, maybe finish that Dragon Age fic. Who knows? No exchanges or bangs. They take a lot of time and energy I don't have to spare.

AO3 Year in Review

I always enjoy checking my word count and top 5 fics at the end of the year and thought yknow artists do year-in-review stuff so it might be fun to start sharing a writer's version. I was happy to see my word count go up from last year, though it's not even close to my personal best (that's what you get for not posting everything you write & updating weekly instead of every other day ig) and I was honestly really surprised by some of my top 5 fics this year!

Fic that made me cry: my own fic? Uh. This year it would be the terrible MCD Shards, and actually Promise? Promise. Because Geralt realized he is in love and it terrified him. Happy ending though. I did cry over Geralt and Roachie (not mine) just yesterday though, because it was just incredibly touching and played my heart like a fiddle. It deserves a read.

Fic that made me smile: tbh, I smile all the time, especially writing floof. But I have been real soft about Wardrama or cowboys?, I revisit it all the time. Because I am in a period of floof and slow dancing and I have a need, sue me 😂

Gift:  We are just us, for @firefly-party , who dares me to add as many prompts as she could think of and make it sickly sweet. I think I won <3

Fandom Year in Review (2023)

It's the very last day of 2023, which means it's time for my annual look back and some number-crunching with my AO3 stats and writing over the year!

(Before I get to setting next year's goals and back to writing before midnight, of course! ;))

I posted 142 new stories to AO3 this year!

Fewer than last year but still quite a respectable number (especially given I dropped off posting every single day after October this year - I kept it up for 1,675 days straight, or 55 complete months!).

Those stories were in 33 fandoms, 14 of them new, and featured 43 ships (not counting gen relationships), 18 of them new!

both of my halloween fics — a bummer too because i think they’re some of the best writing i’ve done. also the second chapter of my new girl au — it’s a whole chapter on fexi going to weddings/getting married and no one was into it 🙃

hear me screaming, heavy breathing — i didn’t think the world was ready for cassie/ash but you proved me wrong. and we can make it so divine — the fandom was kind of dying off when i posted this but the response was amazing.

happy new year!! 🎉 with 2022 done and gone, i wanted to take a quick moment to look back on the fic i wrote last year 💜

Top Fandom: Malevolent (15 works, including anonymous fics and fics on my separate nsfw account)

Date of First Fic Posted: January 2, 2022 (it's my party and i'll cry if i want to, Encanto, 5.6k words)

Top Multi-Chapter Fic: ten thousand flowers in spring, The Magnus Archives, 47.5k words

I finished this one just a few days ago and I had such a good time writing it! It also may very well be my last major TMA work (unless the TMA muse returns to me at some point) and I'm happy with it being the capstone on my multi-chapter TMA experience 💜

Top One-Shot: The Cube Rule of Food Identification, The Magnus Archives, 1.6k words

This fic surpassed 1.5k kudos recently and I never expected it to 😂 it's the silliest fic I think I've ever written, given that I usually trend towards angst and whump, and I'm glad that people enjoyed it!

Fic I’m Most Proud Of: whisky old fashioned sour, Malevolent, 58.5k words

I love whisky 💜 this fic is my baby at the moment, ngl, and I'm so excited to wrap it up in the next month or two (depending on how fast I write). People have made some truly spectacular art for it that continues to blow me away every time I see it, and the community has been so wonderful and encouraging over this AU that I thought nobody would really find interesting other than me 💕

Fic I Wish Had Gotten More Attention: cicatrix, Malevolent, 4.7k words

I get why this one didn't get a lot of attention--it's a niche AU (a daemon AU) that's rather whumpy, and I posted it at a weird time. Still, it was (and still is) a concept that really excited me, and I still wish it had gotten a bit more attention. Oh well! That happens sometimes. I like to think that I've gotten more resilient about writing weird niche things that will get like 5 comments and 20 kudos max XD

Fic That Challenged Me The Most: Fata Morgana, The Magnus Archives, 41.7k words

I wouldn't necessarily say that any of the things I wrote this year were particularly challenging (unless you count the HTML stuff in whisky 😂). However, I did have a super rough time starting this fic. It really did not want to get off the ground for whatever reason, and it fought me hard for the first couple of chapters. It was pretty smooth sailing after that though, and I'm proud of the final product!

Favorite Quote/Passage: I always struggle with this question because I forget what I've written beyond what I wrote like. Yesterday lol. So I think I'll just pick a selection of lines I enjoy!

There was a choir somewhere else in the festival, and the faint sound of Christmas carols mingled with the jingling of bells and the crackling of fire and the ever-present crunch of snow underfoot. The sounds, along with John’s descriptions, painted a brightly-colored picture: vendors adorned with reds and greens and silvers, children with one hand clasped in a parent’s and the other clinging to hand-carved wooden toys or big round lollipops, people with handcarts peddling candied orange peel and apple cider and warm roasted chestnuts.

Then, Jon reaches out a hand and traces a finger along the curve of Martin’s cheek. “You have constellations within you as well,” they say softly, mapping out the spaces between Martin’s freckles and leaving a warm, tingling sensation in their wake. Their finger reaches the bow of Martin’s upper lip, and they hesitate before shifting and cupping Martin’s cheek in their palm. “They’re lovely.”

I suppose I did write two full multi-chapter works and one almost-full multi-chapter work this year, but wow that's still more words than I expected! Work you are most proud of: Smoked Down to the Filter: I consider this my most well written fic, I think the characterization, pacing and dialogue are all really good. It’s short, but dense with information.

Favorite title: Throbbing Black Bruises (inspired by lyrics from Thermodynamic Lawyer by Will Wood)

Favorite Comment: Kozaru, on Smoked Down to the Filter: “This was such a wonderful read, it started off so cute and the angst at the end hit me like a truck. I was really moved, the whole ending sequence is so heartbreaking and real. I love how you wrote Linhardt, and it’s always nice to see asexual representation, especially one so well written. Thank you so much for sharing! I’m very curious about the second chapter (but absolutely take all the time you need to finish it)!”

Work you enjoyed writing the most: Nursed: First off, its my OTP, merceleth, which I not only love very much, but have been wanting to write a Big Proper fic for, basically since I started writing fic. I also finally wrote something for my Professor Mercedes AU, which I’ve had forever. But mainly, this is the first multi-chapter/the longest fic I’ve written, and I really enjoyed writing a grander story than I have in the past. I was as self indulgent as possible. So yeah, writing this fic was one of my favorite things I did this year.

What you hope to write in 2023: I want to write Smoked Down to the Filter Chapter 2 this year so it isn’t left unfinished. I might get possessed by Prof. AU merceleth again, flesh out that dynamic and history. Other than fic, I plan to write my OC story next year!
