✨Auditory processing disorder✨
Currently I am working with my doctor to get me diagnosed with this disorder (not sure which type yet but I'll do my research) and I wanted to write about it. I have a hard time (especially w/background noise) understanding what people are saying. It feels like my brain forgot to comprehend and all I have is someone's visual queues and tone to go off of.
It turns out because of this, a lot of people (including some of my siblings) just thought I was slow on the uptake. Now I need to clarify, I'm not dumb or smooth brained, I actually didn't hear you. Can you repeat yourself please.
Anyway, I thought it'd be fun to watch an alien figure this out and all the weirdness that comes with it so I'll post that sometime this week when I've researched and written/ rewritten it 10 million times lol. Thanks for all the support with my previous humans are weird. Y'all encourage me so much!

Hello! I know you're one of the people who ship Moon and Solar (TSAMS) And y'all have gotten me into the ship as well! XD I'm not caught up on the lore of the show(s) So i haven't even seen Solar IN SHOW before (i am very behind to before Lunar was Sun and Moons brother :' D) But I have some ideas I'm debating writing for the ship buttt....I have no clue how Canon Solar acts??? Do you know if theres somewhere I could find a Summary on his personality? (and I suppose...new Moon?) I'll probably unintentionally make them OOC...never written for anything TSAMS related, but i'll try!
And is there a ship names thats...like used for them instead of Solar X Moon or is it just called that?
Anywho, I hope you have a good day/night!!! You make awesome stuff! (And I know theres been some people making drama over the ship, I hope you don't let them get to you too much tho!! <3 /P)
🦈Anon
AWESOME!
Heheheh. Thank you. I've been shipping these two since June 2023 so I'm glad I can share the brainrot and some people are more welcoming and cool then I expect. (mostly the ones who can't think critically are the youtube audience but that's expected. Since a lot of the youtube target audience are... like.. minors or really young adults who can't conceive the concept.)
I rewatch that Episode where Solar changes his name and rebuilds the Daycare in a week just for Moon constantly cause it's just... so much admiration and appreciation Moon has for Solar in that episode. I swear I don't know if it was a flub on the actor's part... but I swear Moon calls him 'sexy' as he's dragging him to charge. the stock sound effect of "OOOOH" doesn't help my APD and I've listened so many times and I have no possible idea what Moon could be saying to Solar other then 'come here you stupid, sexy-...." (trails off) sooo... idk. I might have misheard that severely but that's just what I'm hearing.
Like, in terms of New Lore of the show, it gets pretty complicated.
So complicated in fact, TSAMS themselves released a new video on the subject.... But it's NOT a very good guide, as it misses a lot of things. (and no I don't mean the stupid guest cameo stuff) this is more or less an abridged take on what happens with no emotional impact:
youtube
Like, this is a good starting point if you want the barest of bones, but it misses so much stuff. I think they don't even mention how Solar gets introduced into this family. lol. Just like "yeah Im here and I helped kill Eclipse" fheahehf. It's a super well made video though, and I don't mind the editing mistakes (clearly when the actors change the avatar on screen.... whoops. Happens a few times)
There is also the Fan Wiki, but as of now, it is incomplete, (@twinanimatronics is working tirelessly on updating the wiki and I wish they got more reconignition from the tsams community as a whole ) but it does give a decent look into Solar
There is also the huge TSAMS Lore Document, which Ceph(twinanimatronics) also worked on which contains a further detailed explanation of the story so far, for those who don't have time to watch 2 years worth of youtube content that aren't in a concrete playlist. (TSAMS. PLAYLIST YOUR STUFF PROPERLY. YOU HAVE TWO YEARS OF LORE HERE)
Tumblr media
Liike.... yeah... this is okay but like..
Tumblr media
This is VRchat. Aka the lore. Which also includes when they play videogames in VRchat, which don't impact the story... Like Uno, Amongus and SCP stuff.....
And it doesn't divide the arcs. Something that TSAMS severely needs more then any other SB Show channel.
Also, in the early days, the gameplay videos USED to be part of the lore. As the concept of Eclipse itself, being a rouge evil ai that lived in Sun's head (as it was presented initially but we know the truth it was the killcode moon planted in Sun when they separated.)
These days, they kinda dropped the gameplay videos being directly connected to the over arching plot. Other then just saying that their vids are pre-recorded or "we're back" after an annual halloween takeover.
Not to mention... When Earth and Lunar got a show, they became intertwined with the Sun and Moon show. LAES is very much it's own thing, but it's the ONLY Security Breach Show that consists of two Original Characters spawned from the Sun and Moon show. A rarity. So their lore continues off from the Sun and moon show, giving more info on Lunar these days and Earth (their sister)
Then you have the Monty and Foxy show (which is my least favorite of the shows... Personal Preference. I try not to complain cus I know some people like it. But I do not like the plot points in that show, or the character writing and weird directions they take while being connected to the same universe.)
And Monty is a character voiced by Davis, who also voices Sun. So Monty started out as a prominent character on the Sun and Moon Show, and then got his OWN show... at a point in TSAMS history after Eclipse got the star and killed Lunar.
So yeah. I wish the playlists were better organized here. So we knew when each era starts.
(people say Matpat should get on this show lore... And noooooooo no thanks. Keep him away. We got you covered. Ceph honestly has enough info to make a video guide at this point.)
But long story short, Solar is a "Good Eclipse" from another dimension that the Old Moon introduced to Lunar, when Lunar was struggling with his trauma of leaving Eclipse. Good Eclipse and Lunar become friends.
Anyway, here are some key episodes that outline NewMoon and Solar's relationship, as Solar had never met the Old Moon.
Old Moon had never met Solar. It was New Moon who introduced himself to Solar to help defeating Eclipse once and for all. (and by this point lunar had died)
youtube
He was actually surprised that this Moon was a chill Moon and could be reasoned with and talked to, considering he was living a rather oppressive life from his own Moon.
There's also a whole episode saga of just these two bantering and talking while they work on the satellite together. I can't remember which specific episodes those are.
You can also see the difference between the Evil Eclipse and Good Eclipse here in one of my all time favorite episodes:
youtube
Moon saving Solar's life: (also the death of the bad Eclipse)
youtube
Everything is good and happy after Eclipse dies for awhile. (aside of Ruin and Bloodmoon wrecking shit) He goes back to his own dimension... and you get to see what his sad life is like:
youtube
From his Moon calling him "byproduct" and failure very often.
But... Something happens and Solar is forced to come to Moon's dimension
here's Solar at his poor little meow meow "I have nowhere to go" stage and just... thought to go to Moon immediately due to their history.
youtube
Moon's only question about Solar moving in, is that if he wanted him to blacklist his dimension once he heard what was going on with his Moon.
And immediately, Solar jumps in to help Moon with his problems.
Also during the halloween takeover part 2 electric boogaloo, Solar was the one to help get Sun and Moon back after being teleported to a different dimension with no hopes of returning
youtube
youtube
Also, after Ruin was cured and Bloodmon ran off, Solar rebuilt the ruined Daycare in a week. And Moon is so grateful for it. (i rewatch this episode a lot. It cemented the ship in my mind and built the commodity that they've been building up for months)
youtube
We also get what Solar's daily life is like so far... How out of place he feels, being someone from a different dimension, despite the Brothers (and sister's) insistence, he still doesn't really feel like he's part of the family. He feels like an outsider. (He also has less opportunities to hang out with Lunar. As he expressed interest in playing games with him like the good old days, and as of recently, they have not yet)
also a good example of the Celestial family changing minds on family dynamics because they are robots. Lunar flat out rejected Vegeta-Animatronic is his brother even if he technically is. Like, they're robots. They can change their relationships to each other based on their word. I like to see it more flexible then it is in reality with actual people/humans.
Moon also trying to make Solar feel comfortable and feel like he's adjusting well here. Expressing his concern for him doing so much for him and his family. And hoping to not pressure him into so much work.
youtube
As of recently, his Sun died, and he killed his Moon. And in his therapy session (on the Lunar and Earth Show) he expressed regret over "Leaving" them...
But he has not properly told anyone about this.
My reasoning is that he probably thinks that the family will jump on the chance to call him "Evil" .....They don't have good luck with Eclipses.... and every Eclipse they met other than him has been Evil. (that must weigh on you. Every version of yourself is deemed as evil across every dimension. You are the only good one. Maybe there is something wrong with you)
I'm already at the video limit, but on Lunar and Earth show, there is an interesting episode where Lunar goes into Solar's head, and his mindscape looks like the Willy Wonka TV room, because it was a movie he watched with his Sun before they separated and Sun died. Showing that he did care about his Sun a whole lot... Which is probably why he doesn't interact with our Sun that much alone.
He also compartmentalizes everything before he can feel emotions, playing his own memories in third person as if he's not experiencing them.
Not to mention, he organizes and separates his thoughts on NewMoon and HIS Moon, just so he won't associate the two.
I also missed what episode it was, but Solar is always the first to call Moon out when he's being angry, or irrational, and Sun admits in his therapy session, that Solar is the only person who can calm Moon down. (mainly cus he's used to it, but unlike his old moon, this moon listens)
Anyway...
I love Solar a lot, can you tell?

Sam's Chats with the Void: Becoming "More Neurodivergent"
Hi, I'm Sam, and I have diagnosed ADHD and am suspected to be autistic. By that I mean a psychiatrist has told me "I think you and I can both agree you have autistic traits and characteristics, but it would cost 3500 dollars to get diagnosed." I want to make this ABSOLUTLY clear before I start this conversation, I AM neurodivergent.
Since I've figured all this out people have mentioned that I "seem more ADHD/Autistic than before." I want to talk about this Idea since I think it's a damaging sentiment for anyone with a disability, but especially invisible ones. And Yes, neurodivergence is a disability.
It is true, that my neurodivergence HAS become more noticeable since I figured all of this out, but it isn't acting, or exaggerating the affect of my disabilities. For YEARS I've masked my symptoms to fit in, and in doing so have caused myself a lot of mental damage. One of the things I would do was avoid stimming. Stimming is one of the few ways I can help myself process and regulate my emotions. Meltdowns, panic attacks, anxiety attacks, and depressive episodes were (and still are since healing takes FOREVER) my normal. By working to unmask, I've found that I have a much better relationship with myself, and my neurodivergence.
I have mild Auditory Processing Disorder, which is common with ADHD and Autism. I used to say stupid things when I misheard people, and get extremely frustrated when people would get mad at me when I was trying my best. If you don't know what APD is, it's your brain not processing words correctly. It's kind of like playing a giant game of fill in the blank anytime someone says anything. I've gotten so much better at asking for people to repeat what they've said because I'm a bit unsure of what they said. On bad days I even ask that they say it in a different way (a trick that helps me a lot) so miscommunication doesn't happen anymore.
I have attention deficit HYPERACTIVE disorder. I've always had lots of energy, but throughout my time in school I stopped showing it. The hyperactivity was still there, but it was internal. Internal hyperactivity led to more disorganization, losing things, time blindness, and anxiety. By letting my hyperactivity physically come out, my brain has become less cluttered, and it's easier to manage my ADHD. It still causes problems, but it's made me so much happier, and capable of taking on the world.
I'm much more clear when I need sensory breaks. I pull out my headphones when out with friends, I say no to touching certain things, or even just comment on when something becomes too much. A bad sensory experience causes stress, and by making it clear I need breaks, and taking them I can just do more. I can hangout with my friends for longer, I can be productive even after leaving my house, I can avoid meltdowns more often than not.
I could go on and on forever, but this is pretty long already
All in all, yes, I do appear more neurodivergent to others, but I'm not, I just have a healthier relationship with my disabilities.. And please DON'T accuse people of faking anything, cause we arnt.

i dont see enough things talk about the embarrassing parts of apd
i have people who are supper close to me call me stupid for not having good reading comprehension
i immediately forget things that are said, and when I am told to repeat the conversation, i get flustered
or i just immediately forget if someone is going to make me something or not, and then when everyone is eating and im not, i just sit there trying to figure out if i was suppsoed to make my own, share with someone, or if I was ever even included. just because i cant remember anymore
There is also the obvious one i see a lot about how you need someone to repeat themselves 4 or more times
but have you ever had to email your doctor after a phone call and have missed their actual name amd so now you're confusing everyone around?
there's also the "super fun"(/sarcastic) moments when you've been pronouncing a word wrong because you couldnt process how it would possibly be said until you hear it
Im just so tired of how embarrassed I feel with my disability it makes me want to hide in my room and not interact with people anymore in fear od embarrassing myself more

That HOH + APD (Yes I have both) feel when you've explained what HOH means OVER 5 TIMES to your teacher and he still doesn't understand what it means.
I honestly just tell teachers that I'm deaf now. I know that I'm not, but this has happened with more than 10 different teachers, and I don't know why my school's teachers are so stupid. Hard of Hearing, it's in the name! I genuinely don't know why they can't figure out what it means, even with an explanation.
that sounds like a difficult situation
can i challenge you on your thinking about just one thing however, when you say you aren't deaf, if you are hoh you are deaf, whether you are Deaf as in culturaly deaf or not, is up to you, but hearing loss is hearing loss whether major or minor, and hearing loss is deaf

Here it is, the first of my tarlos @flufftober fics! I'm going for the full 31 days (so a fic a day the entire month of October) Let's see how many I'll actually post on time
Also Gabriel is alive because I said so.
---
Day 1 - "I've got you" (AO3)
“APD officer requiring medical assistance” Those few little words coming over the radio had the ability to turn the blood in TK’s veins into ice. “Ambulance 126 are you free? You’re the closest unit.”
“Medical unit 126 free and responding.” Nancy replied to the operator as the three of them got into the ambulance and buckled up. She started the engine and pulled out of the firehouse just as the officer’s location came through to their computer.
“It doesn’t have to be Carlos.” Tommy said over their headsets, knowing where TK’s mind was at.
“I know. I know.” TK said, briefly checking his phone but seeing no text or any sign of life from his husband.
“And you know what cops are like, they call us out when they stub their toe.” Nancy offered.
“That’s protocol.” TK said absent mindedly. It was almost four months since Gabriel had gotten shot, and even though he was recovering well and back at work on desk duty, Carlos hadn’t given up on trying to find the shooter.
“Dispatch do you have a unit number of the officer needing assistance?” Nancy asked over the radio in an attempt to calm TK’s nerves.
“363H20. There is another officer on scene but the call came from 363H20.”
“That’s Carlos’ badge number.”
“Are you sure?”
“Nance, I could recite that number in my sleep. I’m sure.” TK deadpanned while putting on gloves. “I just hope he hasn’t done anything stupid. He promised me he would lay off his one man investigation into Gabriel’s shooting.”
“How is Gabriel?” Tommy asked, trying to get TK to focus on something other than his injured husband. “I’ve been meaning to check in.”
“You know how he didn’t want to wear the sling the doctors had given him at our wedding? Because he didn’t want a reminder of the shooting in our wedding pictures? And only did it when Andrea made him? Well that’s about as much of his doctor’s advice he’s taken. He’s alright but stubborn as ever.” TK sighed. “Carlos really is his father’s son.”
They pulled up to the location a few minutes later and saw Carlos sitting on the curb next to his cruiser with a tea towel pressed to the side of his head, and Lexi Mitchell standing beside him.
TK jumped out of the ambulance, torn between wanting to strangle his husband for getting himself in trouble again, and wrapping him up in a hug and not letting him out of his sight for the next few months.
He grabbed his gear and walked over to where Carlos was sitting.
Carlos who was staring at his shoes instead of looking up.
“Hey Lexi.” TK greeted her before kneeling down and putting a hand under Carlos’ chin so he’d look him in the eye. “I thought I was the danger magnet in this marriage?”
“Don’t start.” Carlos rolled his eyes and groaned. “Things just got a little out of hand.”
“Yeah I can see that.” TK said and tightened his grip on Carlos’ face when he tried to look away. “What the hell happened, Carlos?”
“No pet names? Ouch. You’re really in the dog house now, dude.” Nancy commented.
TK briefly glared at her before turning his attention back to his husband. He turned his head to the side.
“Move the towel so I can take a look.”
“It’s fine. It’s just a scratch.”
“I’ll be the judge of that. Move the towel.” He ordered, sounding way more angry and annoyed than he actually felt, but he figured maybe making Carlos think he’d really pissed him off would make him stop his investigation and let the team assigned to it do their jobs.
“Your bedside manner needs work, paramedic Strand.”
“It’s Reyes-Strand actually. You see I got married four months ago to this amazing man, he’s my soulmate, he completes me, but he’s being a world class idiot lately.”
“Why don’t we leave you two to it.” Tommy suggested. “Officer, are you hurt?” she asked Lexi.
“No ma’am. But he is.” She pointed her thumb at the backseat of the cruiser. “I put him in there for safekeeping. He got a little too close to the ground. With my help.”
“Is he dangerous?”
“Not anymore. And he’d be really stupid to add assaulting a paramedic to the list of offences we can book him for.”
“Right, well, let’s go take a look. Way over there.” Nancy said and turned to TK. “Try not to kill him. Too many witnesses here.”
“I’ll do my best.” TK replied while cleaning the cuts and scrapes on Carlos’ face. “But I’m not making any promises.” He grabbed an antiseptic wipe from his kit to clean the wound he’d had the towel pressed against. “This is going to sting a little.” He murmured.
Carlos winced when the wipe touched his wound and tried to move his head away as a reflex but TK kept him in place.
“Don’t do that you big baby. I’ve got you. I’ll find something that doesn’t sting so much. And then we’re going to take you to hospital because you need stitches.”
“I don’t need stitches. I’ve got work to do. Can’t you just put a bandage on it?”
“Do you want an infection? Do you want to be bleeding through that bandage all day?”
“No, but…”
“Carlos.” TK said sternly but then softened a little when he saw the concerned look on his husband’s face. “Baby do you trust me?”
“What? Of course I do.”
“Do you trust me to know what I’m talking about? That I know how to do my job?”
“Of course.”
“Then trust me when I say you need stitches. And before you say anything, yes I can do it, but you want a plastic surgeon for this because the wound is on your face. I can patch you up but you’ll end up with a scar.”
Carlos mumbled something that sounded like “I don’t care.” And TK barely resisted the urge to roll his eyes at him.
He grabbed some gauze and tape from his kit and covered up the wound on Carlos’ face.
“That should do for now.” He moved to sit next to Carlos and grabbed his hand, entwining their fingers. “Do you want to tell me what happened?”
“The guy came out of nowhere.” Carlos started after a minute. “He took a swing at me and I hit the wall and then the ground. I think his ring cut my face.”
“Hmm… it’s not like you to let the bad guys get a jump on you…”
“Yeah. I guess I’m having an off day.”
“Just one day? Baby you’ve been distracted for weeks, you’re running yourself into the ground with your investigation. You’re awake half the night obsessing over it.” TK said and held up a hand when Carlos tried to argue with him. “We share a bed, remember? I know you’re not sleeping. I can feel you tossing and turning.”
Carlos sighed.
“I’m sorry. It’s just… I feel like I’m finally getting somewhere.  I had a solid lead that brought me here.”
“Then why didn’t you tell detective Washington and her team?”
“I did! But they didn’t do anything!” Carlos argued. “I told them they had to move now but they just thanked me for my help and sent me on my way.”
“Probably because they had to check out the info. You taught me that police work involves a lot of checking and double checking and gathering as much information you possibly can before making a move.”
“I know… but I feel like I’m getting close to figuring it out.”
“So you grabbed Lexi and went to investigate on your own?”
“No… she just… kind of insisted to come along and didn’t take no for an answer.”
“Thank god for Lexi Mitchell.” TK muttered.
“I know it was stupid to go alone, ok? I know. But I… I can’t just... drop it. It’s my dad who got shot and nearly died.”
“I know babe, but if you keep going like this, he won’t be the only one coming close to dying.”
“Why? Because you’ll kill me if I don’t drop it?”
“No, you’ll be beating me to it.” TK deadpanned. “I don’t want to become a widower before we even get to our one year wedding anniversary. I love you and I hate seeing you like this. You need to start taking better care of yourself, baby. Promise me you will. ”
“I promise.” Carlos mumbled after a minute. “But I can’t just walk away from it and pretend it never happened.”
“I’m not asking you to. But I need you to sleep for more than 10 minutes a week and not spend every minute of every day obsessing over your dad’s case. You know they’ve got the best people working on it, so you can take a step back. Relax. Do something fun. Forget about it all for a couple of hours. Can you do that for me?”
“I’ll try…” Carlos promised.
“Why don’t we order pizza tonight and watch that show Paul was talking about last week?” TK suggested. “And we can just relax and turn off our phones for a couple of hours… and who knows what else we could do.” He winked, making Carlos laugh.
“I don’t think that’s really considered relaxing, babe.”
“Maybe not, but it’ll be fun.”

hi random daydreamer here, in my stranger things face and-
can we please talk about steve with a reader diagnosed with apd? if you dont know what it is then its called an auditory processing disorder where you can hear but your brain aint listening. you have a hard time processing shit said to you. yeah, we need more of it.
first of all; yes, he's the most boyfriend to ever boyfriend and im certainly sure this man will repeat every word he says to you again and again as long as you ask him to. you have a hard time understanding what he said because the tv was on? he'll repeat himself in the most loving way possibly. you get overwhelmed because a lot of people are talking to you at once? he will tell them to shut up and speak one at a time because his poor baby didnt get all that. you misheard something? dont worry, he'll kiss your cheek and correct it so softly because goddAMN IT he doesnt wanna make you feel stupid.
will. get. angry. at. people. who. mock. you! can we all agree this man is protective as shit? he's the sweetest! he wont stand if someone is talking bad shit about his girl, he wont! he'll march over there and will sock him in the jaw if needed. given you wont pull him away immediately.
knows you have a hard time remembering instructions mainly because its hard to keep track and listen to all of them at once so steve goes and writes them down for ya and puts em on the fridge with tiny little cute magnets and even cuter hearts and stars for you always signed with 'love you -steve :)'
will be the most understand son of a bitch youll know. he'll list down the stuff you hate or irks you and will help you out with it. he'll even repeat whatever the movie/tv/person said to you because he just wants to help you out and never leave you out of things, especially if they are your interests. you crying about how much you hate it? he'll kiss your forehead and those tear stained cheeks and rock you goodnight while telling you that its okay and its out of your control. he'll do anything, anything, to make you feel secure with yourself.

Humans Are Weird: Auditory Processing Disorder
Report # 306
Topic: Auditory Processing Disorder
APD: disorder of the auditory (hearing) system that causes a disruption in the way that an individual's brain understands what they are hearing.
Four days ago I was doing my monthly meeting with the electrical department, receiving updates on our monthly usage, needed parts, and checking up on general morale. (The transcript of that meeting is already turned in.) After the meeting we had refreshments and I discovered Lucy (previously mentioned in report #286) pouting in a corner. I inquired what was bothering her. She said, "The ship's head medic just diagnosed me with APD but he wasn't trained to treat it." I asked for further information on the condition. She listed several of her personal symptoms. "It means I don't always catch what people say. It feels like my brain doesn't want to listen. In one ear and out the other making me look stupid to however I talk to. It's connected to my misophonia, and the fact I was born really premature."
I was unsure how to comfort her so I made no effort. This seemed to work for Lucy kept speaking.
"And what's worse is there's nothing I can do! We don't have a speech therapist aboard or even any research materials! Its starting to affect my work performance. On top of decoding, hypersensitivity, and prosodic problems, I have integration issues which mean its really hard for me to focus on what people are saying when I'm doing something. Which freaking sucks when you're part of a team!" I had no clue what she was really talking about but gave her a hug (human gesture of enveloping one in your arms as a sign of comfort or safety), and she apologized for "venting" to me.
She then spoke on how her crew mates just thought she was "slow" or wasn't good at her job. They questioned if she was capable because she would follow directions incorrectly and she was worried she'd be replaced with someone "less problematic". I tried to assure her that I would help anyway I could on her behalf. Never again will I doubt a human's sincerity.
After some of my own personal research I have made a list of the different types and their definitions for your education on the subject:
Hypersensitivity – Hypersensitivity to sound is often diagnosed as misophonia or hyperacusis. Misophonia is when people have adverse physical reactions to sounds, such as becoming nauseated by the sound of chewing or slurping. Hyperacusis, on the other hand, is characterized by a sensitivity to sounds. For some, this means that white noise can be deafening, even causing physical pain.
Decoding – Decoding difficulties involve a lack of figuring out words that are spoken. They hear the sounds, but their brains do not process them as words.
Integration – Integration applies to those who struggle to do multiple things while listening. Such multi-tasking may be writing notes and listening, or having conversations while typing an email.
Prosodic – Prosodic refers to people who have trouble with tone, inflection, and implied meaning. A question and exclamation are processed identically in their brains. Their speech is also often monotone.
Organizational – Finally, organizational, or output, is often characterized by not recalling information in a specific order or having difficulty with noisy situations.
Honestly, Humans are so diverse and unpredictable. To think that different "problems" or " abnormalities " within their mind or body can lead to even more similar issues astounds me. They are so intricate in a way my species has never been. Despite the struggles that their disorders, and conditions being, I think it's strangely beautiful. Maybe that's just me, but I have a new appreciation for them.
I am requesting the presence of a speech therapist, whether physically or digitally, to be readily available to our crew. We must also add APD onto our medics research requirements. It is not an overly complicated subject to be fluent in. I also request that Lucy's diagnoses be added to her list of wrongful termination along with her gender, age, and race. No one should feel their position is at risk because of a disorder or disability. I also request that a written copy of daily instruction be printed for her if necessary. She is one of our best electricians and I mean to keep her employed here as long as she wants.

Hi bro, how do I improve my observation skills to intimidate levele
Hello! i don't know if i've answered this before but here we go.
So observation is definitely the way to start learning deduction, and conveniently enough one could argue it's the part of deduction that has the most resources to learn from. I will include a quick list of resources to get you started at the end of this post
Now, i have a whole post on this (which is linked in the resources, but if you want a quick link for it, here you go), but the idea is very simple: In a nutshell, to improve your observation skills you have to learn to point out what things are around you, and yes that sounds like stupid advice but i do intend it to be taken literally. Observation is simply being able to look around you (or listen, or smell, or you know, use your senses) and point out stuff, the more stuff you can point out, the better your observation skills are
But how do you improve? This happens to be one of those skills you improve by just sucking at it for a while, like learning an instrument. The idea is you have to very purposefully sit down and try to do it, which is why many of the resources you'll find will tell you to use a notebook and record stuff, so you're forced to sit down and look at things. So what you absolutely have to do is force yourself to be aware of everything going on around you
How do you do that? well some people gamefy it, they make little games they can play throughout the day, alone or with friends, that require you to observe more than the other person (or than yourself on a previous day). Other people take a more scientific approach, they go out and, like a scientist doing field research, try to look at everything around them, take notes, remain objective, almost like an alien trying to make research notes on humans and their planet. This is why a lot of people trying to get better do what's called "people watching" (i will write a post on it at some point, it's proving more difficult than anticipating and it's just stuck in my drafts).
You have some ideas to get you started on these methods in the resources below. Most of them are from Tumblr because that's where the more Deduction-oriented advice can be found. On that note, keep in mind that not all resources you can find online will aim to improve your observation for the same purposes, some are aimed towards doctors who have to hone their observation skills to help their patients, others are aimed towards law enforcement jobs, some are meant for deductionists, etc. but that doesn't mean these resources aren't useful for you, it just means you gotta be aware that the advice and exercises you'll be given maybe mixed up with other things you're not necessarily looking for.
Now, with that in mind here's a list of resources that can help with observation, both specifically or as part of a bigger goal

When it comes to Brittany S. Pierce, people’s interpretations are all over the place. It ranges anywhere from <3 innocent babie <3, to severely cognitively impaired, to manipulative liar who pretends to be stupid so others obey their will (which I’ll later accuse her mother of, but that’s neither here nor there). Anyways, I’m adding my opinion into the cacophony because, despite the indecisive fanbase, thorough Brittany meta is lacking in quantity. Also, I tend to think my opinion is best, as is human nature.
This analysis is rooted in autistic!Brittany, and while its unnecessary since I’ll go through many of her autistic characteristics, here’s a post detailing the headcanon and a medical article describing the diagnostic criteria in simple terms if you’re unfamiliar with the disorder. I understand that not everybody considers Britt neurodivergent, and that’s totally fine - I’m always up for a healthy conversation/debate! - but please give me a heads up if you plan to respond critically because a lot of this is based on my own experiences as an autistic teenage girl, so unmentioned critiques can feel personal fast. Now without further ado:
A Deep Dive Into Brittany S. Pierce <3
Auditory Processing Disorder “APD” is a subdivision of Sensory Processing Disorder “SPD” which is a quintessential element of an autism diagnosis. APD is pretty much exactly what it sounds (haha pun) like: despite somebody’s hearing abilities, the brain fails to process auditory input properly. The APD trait I hear discussed most in autism spaces is the inability to filter out background noises, but Britt seems to struggle most with interpreting meaning from words. Sometimes when people talk to me (“dolphins are just gay sharks”), even though they’re speaking clearly and I’m very literate in English, it sounds like jumbled nonsense (“dulfanz-our-goost-gae-shorcks”). This accounts for what I’m calling Brittany’s “so close you can taste it” lines. Think of her claim that Christopher Cross discovered America or that O is the capital of Ohio; a man named Christopher C. is indeed credited with discovering America and O is the only capital letter in Ohio. As a whole, they often misunderstand things told to them directly, and it seems a lot less foolish if she only understood half of what was being said via APD.
I’m calling the category of Brittany lines that can’t usually be rationalized as possible by anybody over seven (e.g. Rory the leprechaun, storks delivering babies, and anything with Lord Tubbington) the “stranger than fanfiction lines.” Now, I could take these at face value and say she’s tapping into a magical dimension, but I have my own set of autism driven realism issues, so, without a pre-existing fantasy world, I’m using my significant brainpower to twist Brittany into plausibility =D I ultimately think the best explanation for the stranger than fanfiction lines is echolalia. Echolalia is the repetition of words or phrases, and it’s usually associated with autism. Autistic people often reuse other people’s words, and since we usually think in pictures and have various social communication problems, it’s easier than formulating new sentences. Or we just like the tongue movements/sound a word makes. Personally, I quote songs a lot - if you say something loosely related to a Taylor Swift, musical, or Glee lyric, chances are I’ll sing it - and dipsomaniacal is a new fave to say randomly. There’s some evidence for Britt doing this in canon, unrelated to the stranger than fanfiction lines. While Brittany is known for calling him Blaine Warbler, it actually originated from Rachel and the infamous spin the bottle kiss. They also repeat ‘uber weird after Blaine in the That’s So Rachel reading, and the last line of that scene is them talking in time with Blaine, a behavior seen in S1 with Santana. However, it interests me most that she calls Artie a robot, as we see her dad call Stephen Hawkin, another wheelchair user, a robot in S6.
Basically, I blame the Pierces for how terribly adjusted their child is <3 (Mostly Whitney. Assuming Pierce actually has an IQ of 40, he’s disabled too and deserves some slack in terms of spreading misinformation.) In her admittedly limited screen time, Whitney manages to do two positive things: be an LGBTQ+ ally and let her younger daughter do soccer, I guess. Otherwise, she kept the truth about Stephen Hawking from Brittany for 20 years, cheated on her husband on their honeymoon for claiming infertility, crapped in random barns, insulted her husband’s intelligence, publicly insulted her husband’s appearance, and arguably restricted her daughter’s intellectual growth. To be honest, I realize Whitney isn’t that deep and I don’t actually hate her, but if people can hate Brittany for being a comedic character from the 2010s, I’ll do the same thing to their mother in defense of Brittany. Fight stop the violence with violence, baby! Anyways, I don’t think echolalia alone can explain the stranger than fanfiction lines. At least, not without a source. And that’s usually where upbringing comes in.
I’m ruling out nature automatically because there aren’t chromosomes telling people to believe in unicorns. Well, some people - including autistic people (hehe see what I’m doing here?) - are more inclined to believe falsehoods, but falsehoods have to be fed by someone else. With autism, the reckless believing tendencies come from literal thinking in part. Also, since SPD makes processing the outside world difficult, we often can’t recognize “obvious” truths in the first place. My extended family hated watching movies with me because I used to ask questions every five seconds lol. Setting Pierce aside because he seems to follow Whitney blindly; Brittany’s unnamed sister, Sue, and Whitney are the remaining suspects.
I assume Brittany’s sister is significantly younger than Britt because she played soccer with a seven-year-old in S1 (technically she could’ve been the coach, but that throws off my theory that the Klaine/Brittana wedding was child free), and children aren’t clever or mean enough to throw off anybody’s world view so badly :) Sue does seem the obvious answer, but she didn’t meet Brittany until they started high school, and she’s consistently baffled by Britt’s behavior despite encouraging her own eccentricities in the other Cheerios. And that leaves Whitney as the perpetrator, blaming her Scientology and gambling addiction on a cat.
Finally, I do think there’s a few times when Brittany intended for her jokes to be jokes. I don’t think it happens as much as you might expect, but there’s a scene in S3 when JBI is interviewing Brittany about her class president candidacy, and she tells him she’s voting for Rick “The Stick” Nelson before turning to Santana and laughing that clued me in. I think the mentality behind these lines (the “pun intended” category) is best explained with an anecdote from my own childhood.
When I was little - maybe six or seven - I really wanted to be funny. Well, I wanted to be liked, and since I didn’t understand social cues, my solution was humor because I knew my dad told jokes which made me laugh, which made him likable! Unfortunately, as a literal thinking child, I had no idea how to do this, which meant I parroted the only joke I knew (“What time is it when an elephant sits on the table?” “Time to get a new table!”) in hopes of chuckles. This went about as badly as you would expect. After a while, my parents got rightfully fed up with this joke and got me a joke book. I had no sense which of these jokes were funny, which wasn’t helped by most of the book being about taxes, bad marriages, and other stuff aimed at adults.
It wasn’t until a routine walk to the convenient store that my comedy dreams were fulfilled. My dad, little sister, and I used to walk to the “snack store” to buy a drink each and share a candy bar. While we had some routine favorites, we also tried out new candies together. However, there were a few bars my dad refused to buy because he’d disliked them prior to our snack store outings. Most infamous of these forbidden fruits was the Zero Bar. We tended to reference the Zero Bar when picking our next treat, and on this fateful day I said, “It’s called the Zero Bar because zero people like it.”
And my dad laughed. He laughed because of something I’d said. I was elated!
The only catch up was I hadn’t actually intended it as a joke. After all my attempts to be funny, the only thing that apparently worked was speaking my mind. This singular incident didn’t rewire my understanding of humor - I attempted the parroting tactic with the Zero Bar joke after all - but it’s the most pivotal moment in my mind. To this day, I play up my neurodivergent thought process to make others laugh. I reference Glee at seemly unrelated times with mock enthusiasm to callback times I’ve mentioned Glee with real enthusiasm or talk about my other interests in forced monotones.
There isn’t any actual evidence that Brittany has the same weird complex about humor, but some of their interactions regarding stupidity parallel it. In general, when they’re away from Santana, Brittany appears fairly insecure about her neurodivergence. I might even go as far as to say that she doesn’t joke without Santana around. Now, I don’t think Britt knows what her atypicalities are until they’re presumably diagnosed at M.I.T., but every neurodivergent person I know knew something was wrong before being diagnosed. (I want to talk about how Blaine’s diagnosed autism is a foil for Brittany’s undiagnosed autism at some point, but you didn’t sign up for autistic!Blaine, so now isn’t the time.)
Anddd, that’d pretty much it for now :) I intend to write more in depth Brittany meta in the future, but this is a decent overview for the time being. I hope this made you think, and I’d love to hear your thoughts if it did!

Summary: A little thing I wrote because I have too much attachment to Randall

-----
When Randall was a little boy, he wanted to be a superhero when he grew up. He spent his Saturdays watching Batman and Superman cartoons and reading Marvel comics. He wanted to save the day when he grew up.
Unfortunately, no amount of spider bites or sitting too close to the TV in the hopes of messing with his DNA gave him superpowers, so he had to look for different ways to save the day.
Volunteering with the Boy Scouts was a step in the right direction but he wanted to do more. He wanted to do more than help out at the community garden and sell questionable baked goods (though he still helped his mother with the upkeep of that garden and took baked goods around his neighborhood from time to time). He wanted to be a hero. He wanted to stop the bad guys, to save the day, and all the glory that came with it.
After 9/11, his path became clear. He was a little more mature by then. He knew the world wasn’t so black and white as “good guys” and “bad guys”, but there were still some pretty clear lines in all the gray. Going overseas to fight terrorists seemed like the clearest line and he was happy to fight for it. He was still a freshman in high school at the time but it was easy to get in the spirit of enlisting due to regular visits from recruiters and the size of their JROTC program. As soon as he graduated, he enlisted and was sent overseas.
He would’ve gone career if his mother hadn’t asked him to stop after a few years. He wasn’t a “mama’s boy” per se but he couldn’t say no to this ask. She meant too much to him, especially after his father passed. After he left the service, he picked up the mantle in the next best place: local law enforcement.
Now, there was nothing wrong with the APD. Well, there was a lot wrong with the police in general but Randall liked to think he was one of the good ones. He followed the rules to the letter, did his best to stay active in the community when he was off hours, even made the occasional trip back to his old schools to do talks about the police. The paycheck left a bit to be desired but it was all in the name of doing something good.
He just couldn’t help but want more. Serving overseas had left a mark on him, a thirst for the Bigger Picture that couldn’t be quenched by patrolling local streets and standing on the sidelines of private security.
Then, came the day he met Cordell Walker.
Walker was already a bit of a legend, though he’d only been a ranger for five years. He was known for being a bit of a spitfire and had a tendency to  break the rules when it came to his investigations. The brass didn’t seem to mind too much though, considering his impressive closure rate. According to everything Randall heard, every case that crossed Walker’s desk got solved.
He didn’t quite believe all the rumors until he met the man himself.
They were trying to bust a street gang in Randall’s area and the Rangers came in to try and nip the situation in the bud before the gang could expand their territory. He wasn’t happy to hear about this at first; Rangers tended to steamroll over the police and take all the credit later. But, Walker was polite and took everyone’s words seriously, from the police chief to the rookie recruits. “I just want to get the job done right,” he said. “Now, let’s get these bastards.”
He wanted to be in a position like that, he realized, watching Walker work. He wanted to be someone who could do the important work without all the stops at his level. He wanted to be able to lead the charge, save the day, stop the bad guys. Just like Walker.
Randall was lucky enough to run alongside him during the final raid. It sounded stupid, but he thought Walker had turned slapping cuffs on someone into an art form.
After all that, he knew exactly where he was going next: he was going to be a Texas Ranger.
It was a long road to get there. Training to be a Trooper was no cakewalk and even after he got his badge, he needed a couple of promotions before he could qualify for Ranger work. It was a challenge, but one he was more than up for. He knew he could do the work; he just had to get it done. And while he proved himself to his superiors time and time again, he looked forward to the day he could stand on equal footing with Walker. During his brief bouts of down time, he even fantasized about being his partner. Never for long; getting his Ranger star was about so much more than Walker’s approval. But it was nice to think about.
It took eight long years of hard work, but Randall got his Ranger star. And it was everything he thought it would be. Standing up there with the other inductees, his mother in the audience, his star glinting under the overhead lights- It was perfect. There was even a barbeque after and he got to talk to Walker on even footing for the first time. He couldn’t ask for anything more.
Well, maybe he could. He knew it would take a while, but there was a part of him that couldn’t wait to see some real action. He wanted to start tackling the worst of the worst in the great state of Texas and make a name for himself. He might not be the legend that Walker was, but he wanted to be up there with the greats.
When Captain James personally gave him an assignment tailing Walker as part of a security detail in an investigation against North Side Nation, he could hardly believe it. Working side-by-side with (or, well, right behind) his role model? This was bigger than a dream come true. This was a chance to prove to himself and everyone else that he really was made for this job.
He was a little surprised it took Walker three days to catch on to him, but with the assassination attempt and his partner being nearly AWOL, the man probably had other things on his mind than non-descript trucks following him. Randall did have to out himself to stop Walker from being caught by the NSN guys Micki was working with, but it all worked out. He even got to take out one of the bastards with Walker; that was one for the scrapbook for sure.
He didn’t get that many big assignments after that. Mostly patrols and handling lower-level cases. Randall wasn’t insulted by it. He knew James saw potential in him; it just wasn’t every day a bombshell came across your desk.
Unless, Randall noticed, you were Walker.
“I swear, every time I turn around that guy’s got himself into another mess,” Randall’s partner grumbled one night on a stakeout. He couldn’t remember how the conversation came up but after a year on as a Ranger, he couldn’t exactly argue.
As much as he still looked up to Walker, he didn’t envy the man’s poor luck. It seemed every criminal in Texas had it out for him and there was always a fire to put out. It made for interesting office gossip for sure, but he didn’t find himself yearning for that level of prestige anymore. If being one of the greats meant putting a target on your back, Randall was happy to leave that to other people. He would take his possibly pointless stakeouts over getting kidnapped and tortured by terrorists any day.
“I doubt he goes looking for trouble,” Randall said, defending his former idol. “But I can’t say I envy James. I wonder how many favors he’s pulled trying to keep Walker on the payroll.”
“More than he’d pull for either of us.”
Randall couldn’t argue with that either. “Well, unlike Walker, I follow the rules, so you’ll be stuck with me for a while yet,” he said.
“Hey, I’ll take you over some trainwreck rookie any day.”
Randall smiled and sipped his coffee. Yeah, he was pretty happy with his slightly less extraordinary position on the relative sidelines.

Angie’s key slides into the lock, and the doorknob gives easily when she turns it. It’s a familiar path, from Will’s front door into his bedroom, one she’s walked under a million different pretenses. This is a new one, though, the sort of easy reliance she’s always a little surprised to be trusted with.
Hey, Ange. I had a run-in with some paint during a chase. Faith won’t let me ride in the car until I change. Can you run by the house and pack me a bag? Whatever’s fine; I have a spare suit in the office.
She thinks back to the phone call, the distant echo of Faith’s voice yelling “damn right, I won’t!” when he’d explained how she refused to let him back into her sedan covered in paint, and how Will hadn’t needed to ask if she had a key.
Ormewood is waiting in the driveway, their APD detectives’ car idling while he reads through their latest case file. When she’d offered, he adamantly refused to come inside with her, and she’d rolled her eyes and grumbled “you could have just said no, didn’t have to make it a whole thing.”
Now, she’s standing in front of Will’s open closet, Betty hot on her heels while she retrieves a small duffel bag. It’s exactly where Will had said it would be, and it’s just as easy to track down a pair of jeans and a clean grey T-shirt. She drops a pair of socks in on top of them, but hesitates when she reaches for the handle of his underwear drawer.
You’ve seen them before. Hell, Polaski, you’ve touched them before. The man has paint all over his ass, just bring him some clean shorts.
She feels stupid, mostly about feeling stupid, but finally tugs the drawer open. She grabs blindly for the first pair she can reach and shoves them into the bag with everything else. As she moves them, something falls out from between the folds and bounces onto the floor.
Angie pushes the drawer closed and bends down to pick it up. It’s a cassette tape, one of the little ones that comes out of Will’s tape recorder. She goes to toss it back in the drawer, but stops when she sees the label on the side.
Will almost never writes anything on the little sticker labels, because he usually reuses his tapes.
“The notes aren’t anything special,” he’d argued, the time Angie asked him about it. “What, you’re telling me you keep every grocery list you’ve ever written?” Even then, she’d known his defensiveness was equal parts practicality, and not wanting to admit defeat in the face of the written word.
But this tape is dated in Will’s careful, labored script. Six small, widely spaced numbers shake their way across the faint lines.

Okay, some low key sexy shit that Tk does that drives Carlos wild?
(things that most of us would be like okay??!….but also okay!!!)
The fact that Carlos gets to baby TK cause he’s so accident prone
TK being a little shit is canon. So here we go.
Sometimes TK does laundry while wearing transparent clothes and purposely gets himself wet so that his clothes cling to his body and Carlos loses it because he’s a hoe for TK too. He has to choose between cleaning up the mess created by TK or fucking TK against the washing machine. You can imagine which one he ends up choosing lol.
They are very professional while in public when they are on calls. But sometimes TK brushes a hand across Carlos’s ass or any other part of his body while they are in the field and if they end up making out in a corner of the fire truck. No one has to know that okay? (Even though everyone does know it).
The ice storm did a number on TK and he still feels cold sometimes. He would wear his stupid Hawaiian shirts and keep on sending pictures to Carlos about how he’s feeling super cold even though he can easily wear a hoodie but TK is a brat who believes that sharing body heat is the only way that the problem can be fixed. Carlos comes back home all frustrated and worked up and spends the next few hours making sure that TK can feel nothing but hot and warm.
Sometimes TK doesn’t have the energy to seduce Carlos and he just wears one of his APD hoodies and the simple fact does it for Carlos (because I repeat. Carlos is a hoe for TK.)

If You're Lonely Come be Lonely with me
Tumblr media
Carlos and Tk have been fighting for months. Small fights. Stupid fights. But they're becoming more frequent, and the consequences are becoming more serious. Tk's four months pregnant, and they have three children already, so he's stressed out of his mind, but he also tends to forget that Carlos is also stressed out.
He washed his APD hoodie after work two weeks ago, and Tk had a meltdown. He just started crying and when Carlos tried to comfort he hissed at him. Why was he sobbing over the APD hoodie being wased? Because it wouldn't smell like alpha and Carlos would have to wear it before he could wear it.
And Carlos got upset with him about it because really!? He shouted at him, which, in hindsight, maybe that wasn't the brightest idea on his part. Because it just made his pregnant mate more upset, cry harder, and then inevitably throw up all over the floor.
Carlos slept on the couch to give the omega space.
The next morning went smoother but then they got in a fight again over something stupid that now he can't even remember.
For two weeks they were fighting over stupid shit at least once a day.
Carlos knew they were fighting a lot more than they ever have in the past, but he didn't expect to come home and find divorce papers on the kitchen table. Divorce papers Tk's already signed. He feels like he's just been punched in the gut. His heart.
When his oldest, Adrienne, toddles over to him to say goodnight, he wants to cry. "Say goodnight to Papa," comes Tk's soft voice as he walks into the living room with their twin boys on his chest.
"Night Papa," Adrienne whispers as Carlos picks her up to give her a hug. He squeezes her gently, she purrs and snuggles into him.
"Goodnight, Adrienne," he murmurs. "You brush your teeth?"
"Mhm," she hums, grinning real wide to show her white teeth.
"Good," he smiles, setting her down. She hugs Tk's legs before running off into her bedroom.
The twins, Bentley and Gabriel, are still falling asleep on Tk's chest. He brings them over to get hugs and kisses from Carlos before taking them to their nursery. "Night, babies," Tk whispers, tucking them in and giving them kisses.
"Night mama," they whisper while he gets them,
"Snug, as a bug, in a rug," he coos.
He goes in to kiss Adrienne goodnight one more time before padding back out to Carlos, cracking both of their bedroom doors so they have have just a tiny bit of hallway light as their nightlight.
"Hey," he whispers to Carlos.
Carlos feels like he's in between falling and crying, and just shutting off. He looks at Tk with cow eyes, and the omega can feel his heartache. "Tk... why?" he whispers. "Why did you- I don't understand. Baby, why? Tell me what to do to fix this, please."
Tk shakes his head, wiping his cheek before he can start crying himself. "The babies were picking up on the fighting," he says. "We've just- there's just something wrong between us and I don't know what it is but I don't think this is working anymore and I don't want them to see it anymore."
"So you want a divorce?" Carlos asks. "Tk, how it that helping them? That is what your parents did and did it help? No. It didn't." He's on the verge of growling at him.
"I would rather my parents divorced then at each other's throats," he whispers. "They're young. We can make this work, make this easy for them. So they'll get used to it."
"Adrienne is four and the boys are two," he says, "that's old enough to know there's something wrong. That's old enough to be confused. That's old enough for the change to not be easy for them."
"Carlos we just can't do this anymore," he says. "Okay?"
"No. Not okay," he whispers, pulling Tk close by his biceps. "Tk please. Give us some time to work this out. Go to counselling? I don't even know how this started- please baby. I am begging  you."
Tk's lip wobbles and he shakes his head. "I'm sorry."
