Me (starting Allan Quatermain): Hurrah! Time for another adventure! Where shall we go this time H. Rider Haggard? Are we to return to Africa with our favourite band of elephant hunter, Zulu warrior, overdressed naval captain and peer of the realm? 😃

The first line of the introduction:

Me (already tearing up): What the hell? What the actual hell?

*Cue series of adventures and escapades with the gang*

Me (breathes a little easier): we’ve had rather a shock, but it’s all fine now.

*throws myself into the exciting culmination of the plot*

H. Rider-pluck-my-heartstrings-out-one-by-one-why-don’t-you-Haggard:

Me (through tears):How dare you kill Umslpogaas? You ought to be put away! You’re on a spree! A killing spree! What will you do next? Bump off our dear friend and narrator Quatermain?

H. Rider: 😏

Me: No! Please! No!

H. Rider:

My heart: *breaks*

Tears: *flood my eyes*

My life: *falls to pieces*
