Do you have any info about ashfur/fall in your rewrite??

Ok so I could go on forever abt him bec he's like a secondary villain in Po3 but here's me rambling abt his motives:

His mother Brindleface taught him this idea if the perfect Thunder Warrior life, become a respected warrior, get a loving and dedicated mate, have kits, cary on your legacy. He believed his mother deserved this over anyone else and yet... her mate was Darkstripe who cared little for her or his kits and ended up betraying them all. And to top it all off his mother was killed simply for dog bait by the bastard his father was obsessed with.

Ashfall became obsessed with going above and beyond in achieving this perfect life. He wanted to make his mother proud, he wanted to have what she had wanted as some sort of way to make up for her short life.

He becomes jealous of MANY cats who seem to have achieved this life so easily, he becomes isolated from much of the order... He has caused a rift in his relationship with his sister due to his judgment over her choices (she chose to not follow this lifestyle their mother taught, she had kits on her own and didn't take a mate for years) , at one point Ash even implied that Fern's kits' deaths were the fault of them not having a father....

Ash becomes OBSESSED with Squirrelflight, to him she is the perfect mate, she is not only a young, beautiful and strong Thunder Molly, she is also the daughter of the Leader and Second... if he were to become her mate he would be part of the leadership's family. Their kits would be heirs and if Squirrelflight become leader, Ash himself could have a chance at being Second. To him this was the peak of the honorable warrior's life , to achieve this would be the greatest success. To him he "loved" Squirrelflight because she was a symbol of his chance at that life he so desperately wanted.

Squirrelflight left him because he was obsessive and she could tell he loved the idea of her instead of her... and she knew she still loved someone else (Crowfeather). Ashfall was DEVASTATED, it was as though his whole future had been ripped away from him. Its no wonder he switched to being obsessed with vengeance instead.

Also similar to his reasons for becoming attached to Squirrelflight, Ash became obsessed with Hawkfrost bec he symbolized Ash's new goals. Hawk would give him vengeance, Hawk would love him, Hawk would make him his mate and Second, Hawk would help him get the final laugh.

Petty!Ashfur AU question: how would Ashfur deal with Fern's death? Also, do any of his kits die during the dark forest battle? Reed and Ash both morning Hawkfrost's final death, too.

I think Ashfur would be wrecked over it. Just, inconsolable for a long time. Fernie was his twin, his best friend, it was hard to even imagine living without her.

I think he'd end up relying on Cloudtail a lot as he mourns, and be uncharacteristically genuine for a few months. Very nostalgic for old times.

Ferncloud's death would be so hard to unpack that I'm not sure if he'd be emotionally capable of mourning Hawkfrost with Reedwhisker, with the sneaking around he'd have to do in order to see him. If they remained a secret couple following the death of Hawkfrost, it might fall apart here...

And as for his kits, I can see one dying. Ashfur would want to clean the bodies at the vigil, but he's sobbing so hard he can't keep his tongue straight.

He wants to make a joke about how pathetic this is, how he's getting them more dirty than he is clean, but instead he just says something extremely melodramatic like, "My heart can't shatter twice!"

In honor of Ace Awareness Week, I would like to share a story from my Chrono Trigger AU.

A Fine Home

Truce, Guardia 600AG (three weeks since Glenn’s return)

Glenn stood at the edge of the property with Edgar. A cobblestone wall lined the property and a small field lay before him with a small manor by the forest and seaside cliff. A land and cliffside he already knew. Clearly the house had been rebuilt at some point in the future but he knew that centuries down the way, Gina and Crono would call this land home.

“This was all Cyrus’s?” he asked quietly. “I mean, what about his kin?”

“The king thought it should go to you, considering things,” Edgar replied. “As for Cyrus… He was Lord Ashfall’s only living heir, the bloodline of the Ashfall’s died in the war and Cyrus, as his legal and only recognized heir, had no one. No widow nor children… No one of any sort to claim the property.”

“How could he have not had anyone? In the entire decade I was exiled… Cyrus never wed?” Glenn asked, honestly stunned. He had always thought it was odd how aloof Cyrus had been about courtship but he had been so sure that Cyrus would have wanted a family of his own. He had loved his parents and siblings so deeply.

Edgar shrugged and led the way to the house. “All the years I knew him, Cyrus never pursued or acknowledged the courtship of any women. Plenty were fond of him but he shrugged off all of it, claiming the war was more important at the time.”

“So the Ashfall line ended with him,” Edgar concluded. Arriving at the door, he changed the subject, “The house is a fine size for starting a family.”

“I suppose it is,” Glenn nodded. He didn’t know what else to say and while it felt wrong to claim Cyrus’s property, Glenn didn’t want to offend the king. He followed Edgar inside to inspect the house.

It was a fine house as Edgar had noted. However, it was also so… empty feeling. The décor was minimal. The Ashfall banner hung over the fireplace mantle and there was a ceremonial suit of armor on a mannequin. A weapon rack stood nearby collecting dust.

Glenn quietly walked around the main room, peeked in the kitchen and eventually went up the stairs. On the upper floor were three rooms down a small corridor. Glenn walked down to the door at the very end of the hall and opened up the door. A bedroom with a wardrobe and a desk stood beyond the threshold.

There was a bouquet of dried white Chrysanthemums laying on the top of the desk but as Glenn got closer, he saw there were six pieces of paper meticulously folded into the shape of butterflies, arranged carefully around the small bouquet. Even after all these decades Glenn still recognized the white flowers and paper butterflies as a Choran tradition of mourning. It was clear to Glenn that Cyrus had still been mourning the loss of his family members and kept a small shrine of sorts for them in secret.

“So, what do you think?” Edgar asked from the doorway, apparently unaware of the significance of the papers and flowers upon Cyrus’s desk.

“It’s a fine house, as you said,” Glenn replied. “Bea will love it.”

Edgar nodded. “I’ll go inform the king that you’ll take the land then.”

Glenn nodded and told Edgar he’d see him at the castle later. After Edgar departed, Glenn lingered at the desk. He carefully picked up a piece of square parchment off the dusty pile. Carefully, Glenn started to fold the piece of paper in his hands

It had been ages since he had done any Choran paper-folding but his fingers mostly remembered the way to crease the paper although his prosthetic made the job a bit tricky. Soon, he had a paper butterfly in his hands, a bit crumpled but a butterfly nonetheless. Setting it down with the other six butterflies, Glenn offered a silent prayer for his fallen friend, hoping Cyrus’s soul had found its way to his family. He silently promised Cyrus that he would take care of the house and keep his memory as long as he could.

ok i know I KNOW that half of my AU's come from "what if Firefall fathered X" but like

what if Firefall fathered Alderheart & Sparkpelt?

First they have the hallmarks of a Firefall litter. Dead siblings, 2 kits left alive. 2nd Bramblestar's a mess and I feel like Leafpool would be like "hey i got this guy..."

This would be a villain Sparkpelt (here she'd be called Sparkfire because duh) AU. Bramblestar called her Sparkfire because she looked like Firestar...right...that's the reason?

Firefall would be annoyed about Alderheart being a bit of a goober just like he was annoyed about Ashfall. But Sparkfire? Forget about it. A girl who looked almost exactly like him?! Sparkfire got spoiled to the point Mapleshade got a little jealous.

Firefall's influence made Sparkfire want to be leader and boy did she go hardcore. Sparkfire loves like 3 people in the clan and the rest are meaningless to her. She still is mates with Larksong who loves her dearly but thinks its weird he wakes up with thorns in his bed a lot...

She obviously loves her brother even though she thinks he's stupid. And she's devoted to her mother. But she absolutely despises Bramblestar and everyone kind of knows it and is confused. Isn't that her father? And because Squirrel is fed up with Bramblestar she has no problem encouraging that behavior.

THIS IS NOT CANON BUT BOY THIS WOULD BE INTERESTING. Especially since I have nothing happening in VoS rn....

(also I imagine the scene where "Bramblestar" sicks the dogs on her differently because technically that's Ashfall trying to kill his sister...)

Wukong: where- where did you learn that MK: oh, the disguise thing? i learned it from one of the other monkeys- Wukong: MK. none of the other monkeys know how to do that MK: oh. uh. i was lying, ive just been practicing on my own- Wukong, causing it to start pouring rain with his worry: MK do you know how dangerous that is what if one of your powers goes wrong and im not there to help-

the Normal Monkey Demons are the one’s that sing We Don’t Talk About Bruno in reference to Macaque.

whats fun about that is that Macaque joins in to sing the “SEVEN FOOT FRAME-” part. he’s a theater kid let him have this

anyways. after MK realizes theres something Up about this Monkey Demon in particular, he follows him back to this “small” cave on the other side of Flower Fruit Mountain, hidden by like, moss and vines and stuff. Anyways he follows Macaque into this cave and sees him change back to his normal self

MK: you’re Macaque!?! Macaque: *(jumps and shrieks, dropping the spear he was holding and sending it clanging to the ground)* MK: Macaque: MK: uh- Macaque, turning and walking away: bye. MK: no wait-

while chasing Macaque through the cave system MK sees these cracks that have been filled in with a gold liquid.

MK: have you been...filling these in to keep the mountain from falling down? Macaque: what? oh, those, no, I’m too scared to go near any of that. once the steam pressure get done releasing, the patching is all done by Wukong MK: I thought Monkey King didn’t know- Macaque, disguised as Wukong: Its me, the one and only brave and courageous Monkey King, afraid of nothing, real and in the flesh! MK: Macaque, letting the glamour fall: heh, it’s uh, actually still just me...

Macaque could hear the mountain starting to become volcanic again, and when he tried to look into the future to see if everything would be fine, he heard Wukong yelling at him right before the eruption, and concluded that, well, if he vanished, then Wukong would never be able to yell at him, and thus the eruption wouldn’t happen

MK thinks that’s utter bullshit and decides they should listen to the future again

they do need the whole “large open space” thing to do it in (especially if Macaque want’s to transfer it to MK so that he can also hear it) but since Wukong would notice if they did it on the mountain....

they go to Mei’s house

Mei: what are you doing here at 4am in the morning MK, looking like he’s been through hell and back: haha, uh, thanks for disabling the security measures Mei Macaque, standing behind him, patting out a small fire that started on his scarf from where one of the lazers hit him: security measures- who the fuck needs that many security measures, im never leaving my cave ever again-

they don’t really hear anything truly....helpful. its all kinda jumbled up, making it near impossible to hear anything really important.

during this MK gets to hear exactly what Macaque heard that made him leave, aka, Wukong yelling at him, the end of his sentence cut off by the eruption overpowering it

(no i do not have that dialogue figured out yet thanks for asking)

as soon as Macaque realizes what MK is hearing he tries to cut off the whole thing

MK makes him keep it going though

which is how they end up briefly hearing Red Son shout “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?”

so, obviously, they make the rational decision

and go and break into Red Son’s “secret lair”. (Mei told them were it was)

and thats..thats all that i have at the moment

ive got a few more parts for it obviously but i need to do a bit more thinking about all of it before i can share them fgkdjgdljfkdfjdls

Was playing with the angst of Steel dying and Ortega stepping up as Marshal again with @amlovelies .?When I thought of a very funny related au.

Steel is injured! And has to take a temporary leave. (Probably by Sidestep). When Ortega refuses to take up the mantle in his absence, an outsider is brought in to handle the team. The only Rangers  who volunteered for the post: Ashfall.

This proceeds to drive Ortega up the wall. And Yes Sidestep is still doing their villain thing the whole au.

Have your plans for Ashfur changed at all?

Yes they have!

Current plans:

first off his name is Ashfall now bec it fits him just so well <3

Ash allies even more with Hawkfrost in this au, leading to them falling in terrible love with each other. Ash has an obsessive way of loving and Hawk is his new infatuation after Squirrelflight, and this time the object of his affection returns it and also hawk loooves how he now has a weirdo dude who would literally do anything for him.

Ash and Hawk plan the fire on Thunder territory together and Ash starts it. He does the fire scene as he still absolutely wants revenge against Squirrelflight for dumping him, he wants to kill her kits in the fire, but then he gets a better idea... He knew that Hawk has a suspicion that at least some of Squirrel's kits were actually Mothwing and Leafpool's, and Ash realized that if this was true the fall out would be FAR worse for Squirrel than killing her kits would be. So he asks her if the 3 are truly hers, he reveals that he knows that Leaf and Moth had kits of their own.... where did those kits go exactly?

Squirrel doesn't answer this, but to the 3, her face is answer enough. Squirrel ends up attacking Ash to try to get him out of the way, the fire is getting way to close, they cant just wait around anymore, also fuck this guy. She ends up sending Ash over the side of the fallen tree and into the flames, presumably to his death.

HOWEVER this man has too much determination, he gets up and drags himself out of the flames and is found very burnt and scarred by Hawkfrost. Ash is then taken back to River Order camp and nursed back to health by Mothwing who is currently not allowed to leave camp under any circumstances (Hawk cant have her going to her gf and telling on him now can he?).

Ash ends up surviving, though with quite a few burn scars and a slash across his face from Squirrelflight. And after the death of Hawk's previous deputy, Ash is made Hawk's new Second. Ash's survival and place as River's new Second is dramatically revealed at a full moon gathering where he just shows up after being presumed dead and causes extreme chaos.

I dont have solid plans for after this, but I still want Hollyleaf to kill him, I havent decided how or when but its just such a fun thing I don't want to loose it. Also I dont know if im going to have Ashfall reveal Squirrel and Leaf's secret or if Holly still does that... maybe Holly and Ash get into a fight at a gathering and everything is revealed during it very dramatically ... idk

oh ya and note: during the fire scene Holly assumes that she too is one of Leaf and Moth's kits, but afterwards Squilf comes clean and tells Holly that she is actually Squrrel's only kit. This is even worse to Holly bec it makes her start to realize, she isnt part of the 3...

Ok so I know this is like one of your older au's but I loved your Ashfur medicine cat ao3 fic. It also put this cute idea in my head that even though Ashcloud and Ferncloud's relationship is strained he adores her kits and is the best uncle to them even, maybe he even spoils them by giving them honey like Leafpool did with the three.

In the ashfall!au do the events of the broken code still happen? If so how does firefall react to everything that Ashfur did in the broken code? Does Ashfur hate him and try to kill Firefall for being a bad father to him?

I'm a little confused cuz Ashfall is the name I'm giving Ashfur in the canon Starless Universe? There isn't really a separate Ashfall AU.

But yeah everything happens the way it does in the book, but no Ashfall loves his father even though he's treated him the way he's treated him. Firefall is horrified however mostly because if Ashfall succeeds he and the other dark forest cats die.
