It was Qi Xiaotian's first actual night sleeping at DBK's place.

Of course, he had visited the palace out in the desert before. But that was just a stop in the rush of the journey to stop the Lady Bone Demon, and they hadn't even spent a night. Now, however, DBK was celebrating his birthday the next day and wanted his entire family to be there. That included him and Huiying.

"Wow." Qi Xiaotian immediately dropped his bags at the door to Red's room, making his way to the grand bed he saw all the way at the end. The room was luxurious and in shades of red and purple and touches of gold, like he expected, but surprisingly dust-free. He couldn't help a laugh as he bounced on the bed, awestruck at how soft it was. "This is the best room ever!"

Red hmphed as he looked around. "I honestly prefer our bedroom," he said, grabbing the bag Xiaotian had abandoned and hauling it in. He kicked the door behind him. "At least there you don't have Mother glaring at you."

"Eh, she's still mad you married me in a rush. She'll get over it eventually."

"Still." Red unzipped their suitcase and pulled out his clothes. "I prefer knowing that Huiying is in the next room or is in here with us."

Oh, right. Huiying's naptime had started around lunch, so a maid had politely whisked her away. Xiaotian had been too startled to really protest. "Where's the nursery? She'll be in there, right?"

Red nodded as he grabbed the fancy hanfus they had bought for the celebration tomorrow and draped them over the chest at the end of the bed. The rest of the clothes, excluding some pajamas, were tucked into the closet. "Yes, yes, she'll be in there. It's on the other side of my parents chambers." He shut the suitcase and zipped it up before pushing it into the closet with a humph. "I'll go over there and check on her before I drag a crib in here. The servants know to bring her to us if she cries-"

The door opened with a wail.

Speak of the devil, and she would appear, sobbing her poor little eyes out. The poor maid who held her looked like she had been through a firestorm, some of her hair still smoking. "Apologies, master Red. I was trying to get her ready to take a bath, and she started crying and refused to settle down." Xiaotian sat up, but Red was already marching over. "She's been crying for two hours now and I don't know how to make her stop-"

"Bring her to us!" Red gently pulled Huiying away, her sobs reducing once she was in the familiar warmth and safety of her bama's arms, but the motion was still a touch harsh. "I told you, bring her to us if she cries. My father complained that you had a similar problem, but I can't believe-" Red's hair exploded into flames, his voice growing louder and louder as he chewed the poor maid out for not listening to the one instruction.

Xiaotian opened his mouth, ready to save the poor maid, before a giggle made everything silent.

Huiying's tears and sobs had died down, leaving behind tear tracks. Their daughter was instead smiling, clapping her little baby hands with soft little giggles. "'Gain!" she squealed, the word almost lost in her giggles. "'Gain, 'gain! Again!"

"Wait."

Xiaotian nearly fell onto his face in his scramble. "Her first word?!" Red nodded with wide eyes as his husband knelt, meeting Huiying's darling amber eyes. "Huiying, can you say that again?!"

"Again!" she echoed back. "Again, again, again!"

Neither noticed the maid slip out before Red could follow his daughter's request.

its been a million years.  percy has gone from young millenial to squarely gen z.  i think that while he’s up on that mountain demanding the gods pay their fucking child support, he should tell hera at the top of his sixteen year old pipsqueak lungs that polyamory is a thing now and she doesn’t have to define her marriage the traditional way if she doesn’t want to.  she’s the goddess of all marriages!  that includes these modern ones too!!

hera is like zeus would you agree to an open relationship zeus is like SOLD i have been trying to do this for years, completely neglects to read the fine print that this goes two ways before signing on the dotted line for this deal with the prada wearing devil because fundamentally, zeus is an asshole

hera starts hooking up with committed married couples and having SUPREMELY powerful demigod children.  they are all her favorites and she lavishes them with powers and gifts and attention.  she has, unlike the other gods, no millenia of experience with mortal children to temper her reaction, and so this whole move honestly causes more problems than not.

meanwhile hades and persephone; poeseidon and amphirite; dionysus and ariadne; all of them have been trying to talk to hera about this thing for DECADES and then perseus fucking protagonist powers jackson comes in and turns a quarter of a century into wasted work.

I’m actually gonna take this ask and use it to explain the entire Love kid Lore

♡

let’s establish the fact that:

The nature of the Love kids are dependent on their tolerance towards love Auras

So:

♡ Cupid kids often have a high tolerance towards their own sibling’s auras and even other love kids (like Venus/Aphrodite). So they aren’t as aggressive and are often more gentle and caring with one another.

♡ Cupid kids also emit more gentle auras.

♡ Hence Cupid kids are more of the peacemakers and comforters. Selfless and caring.

On the other hand:

♡ In contrast, Eros kids have very weak tolerance towards love auras, May it be from their own siblings or other love children. Too much love can cause them to get overwhelmed/Anxious and causes aggression. Often leading to them trying to kill one another. (Too much exposure is very painful for them)

♡ They also emit a rather aggressive Aura.

♡ Hence Eros kids are rather rough, bold, controlling and rowdy. They do care sometimes but in a rather rough way.

In conclusion:

Exposure to different types of love auras causes instability of emotions (to a certain extent) in both kinds of Love kids.

♡ Cupid kids have a high resistance against the auras of Eros kids. So they can tolerate them to an extent. Too much exposure can cause anxiety and will lead to aggression (mostly irritation and anger and in rare instances, they will try to kill them)

♡ But on the other hand Eros kids, having weaker resistance, will get more aggressive (Gentle Auras of Cupid kids does not mean the aura is weak, it has the same strength as an Eros kid’s, only it gives off a comforting feeling to non-Love kids, whereas the Eros kid Aura causes anxiety)

♡ Being Roman and Greek also causes majority of the problems.

(Funnily enough, only Eros kids aren’t aware of this mechanism)

Gochi Valentine Week 2023 - Day 7 prompt: Cupid

Cupid & Psyche AU 🦋💘 (or Eros & Psyche) from the Roman and Greek mythology. I drew Goku and Chichi as the god of love and the goddess of the soul when they’re already happily married and living in Olympus, instead of their iconic love story origin (that’s for next time hehe).

DBK and PIF arguing about Red Son and new information about the pregnancy:

“Did you know he was pregnant?!”

“Well, I mean, I had a guess-“

“What do you mean, you had a guess?!”

“Were you ever going to tell me!? Or are there other things you ‘haven’t guessed yet’ ?”

“……”

They didn't talk until dinner the night after the retreat.

"So. The Little Thief." Her husband's gruff voice broke through the silence. Iron Fan looked up from her noodles. She hadn't eaten much, but she was glad to see her husband's plate was clean. DBK's glower, however, was less welcome.

"What about him?" she said evenly.

"Did you know he was pregnant?" The question made her freeze, thrown off-kilter. She didn't expect that to be his first question. Honestly, she was surprised he even noticed. When she was pregnant, it had taken weeks of hinting- "Answer me, Iron Fan," She jolted in surprise. She hadn't noticed DBK stand up and walk over. His claws dug into the wood of the table. "Did you know he was pregnant?"

Iron Fan felt sweat bead on the back of her neck. He was angry, the quiet kind, which was terrifying. She knew how to calm him down in his rages. She was unused to the quiet anger, especially when it was directed at her. "Well, I mean, I had a guess-"

"What do you mean, you had a guess?!" DBK's claws dug deeper. Iron Fan gulped as a massive crack formed. "Were you ever going to tell me!?" There was the rage as he released the table. "Or are there other things you 'haven't guessed yet'?!"

"I...I was going to tell you, eventually." She tried her best to regain control. "I was trying to figure out the most reasonable way to handle it before I told you." Accidental children had happened before, but she had never expected her son to have one. "Red Son seemed to want to keep them, so I was trying to figure out how best to handle it. I was figuring-"

"He wanted to keep them because my son and the Little Thief are married, Iron Fan," DBK growled, whirling on him. "From what I'm hearing, you created the marriage." She felt herself blanch. Did everyone know about that?! "So, you were going to just let me kill my son-in-law-"

She slammed her hands down, knocking over her wine. "Red Son was never meant to taint our clan with that brat and he knows it! My plans were for him to have the baby and then deal with him!"

Silence.

DBK stared at her, brows furrowing. Silence stretched between them. "...that's what I figured," he finally said evenly. Iron Fan felt her jaw drop. "You are not to have contact with either of them until I allow it."

The words knocked her back. "Wait-"

DBK was already turning away. "Pray that our son allows me to meet our grandchild," he said, so evenly that it felt emotionless. "If he does, I will try and vouch for you. Until then, stay here."

With that, he walked out, leaving Iron Fan standing there with cold food.
