I mostly feel bad for Rose, to be honest. She's just coming back from injury, and that yellow was not her fault. Vlatko keeping her in was probably more damaging to her physically and emotionally than taking her out would have been. He could have easily put Kristie or Sanchez in there, I don't fucking get it.

i feel bad for all of them. a tie is absolutely not the way to get out of a group to instill confidence, especially if a retired teammate is then going to turn around and talk shit because whether we like it or not those words matter and will inevitably get back to the team.

but i do agree - i think giving a yellow to rose was a bit excessive, and it was pretty obvious she was shaken (thankfully not physically) and having a mentally shaken player out on the field is almost always not the way to go; their focus is probably at least a little shot, and that can lead to further injury. i'm just glad she at least came out of it physically okay, but from the short post-game clips of her i hope she's also doing mentally okay. i hope all of the players are, though it's not any of my business how they rest or recuperate from this beyond being a loyal fan. i think that now the midfield needs a shake up, and it needs to happen fast. agreed - hoping to see sanchez in there at the very least. i think we could benefit from more height too, but clearly kristie's been there the whole time and she hasn't seen the pitch yet.

bottom line is that vlatko might have been a good coach at the domestic level, but it's pretty clear that at the very least his people management skills are lacking during this tournament - and there are clear signs of issue prior to the wc.

now i'm just hoping that by some miracle we either don't have to play sweden or we get a burst of life. we're gonna need it.
