Practice as much as you can. Read and write every day, if possible. Soak up content/ideas you love and practice it on your own. Too tired to write? Read some fic you enjoy.

Examine your instinctual reactions to writing. Ask yourself: what do I like about this fic? why don't I like this writing style? what is this author doing differently than me? is this something I could attempt?

Get feedback from other writers/readers. It helps if you ask them specific questions, such as "do you think there is a sense of urgency in this chapter?" or "how can I make it seem like they're both yearning when I only show one POV?" Take criticism gracefully, but also cumulatively -- are lots of people giving you the same feedback? Was this just one commenter?

Practice stream-of-consciousness writing if possible. Just sit down with an idea or challenge and let it flow. Don't overthink or double back to edit, just type. What happened? Did you like the result? Why or why not?

Remember that comparison is the theft of joy. I've said it before, but comparing your writing to others' will only make you sad or envious. Your writing style is YOURS, and that's what makes it beautiful! The only comparison you should be making is between past and present writing. And even then, you don't owe anyone improvement -- not even yourself.

Hey babe. Random question will you be surprised if Sydney & Glen end up dating down the road??

I feel like she's up his ass. Every time he posts a picture she's quick to like it.

Personally I would be VERY SURPRISED if they actually dated:

1. She has a fiancé and not to say that that can’t fall apart, but he is a producer on a lot of her films so I think they are strong.

2. I agree that they are still very much in each others orbit but I credit that to Sydney’s marketing. She is in like six films in the past two years and really trying to skyrocket her career. Fake dating rumors are fuel to her and I think she leaned heavy on it for the movie.

That being said, I think her stronger marketing was reposting all the TikTok’s of people leaving the theater dancing and singing. THAT WAS PURE GOLD in my mind because it just made people smile and get FOMO and that’s why I feel like the movie really made money.

3. A lot of amazing blogs on here (that I bother incessantly and I feel very bad for doing that to them) have taught me that Glen says a lot in his interviews without really saying it. I think the way he has thrown all credit towards Sydney for the marketing fake dating ploy while also talking in Mens Health about his mental health struggles, tells me that the love (if its genuine to Sydney) might be more of a one way street.

I do think Glen respects Sydneys work ethic and look maybe they had a good time in Sydney (no pun intended) but I don’t see them ever crossing into the dating world. And if anyone listens to that wretched Deux Moi, I don’t think Glen is running down the aisle during Sydney’s wedding to say he objects. What a ridiculous thought!

Honestly I’d be surprised if they did a movie together again.

yes i can!

mspec (which stands for multi spectrum attraction, such as bi, pan, etc) lesbians/gays can identify as such for many reasons. there’s not one catch-all way to succinctly sum up why someone might identity with those labels, but here’s some common reasons:

they’re following the split-attraction model (ex. someone who’s homosexual but biromantic)

they’re attracted to/in a relationship with someone who is multigender

they identify as abrosexual/abromantic and have a fluid sexuality

they’re using it to emphasize their orientation (ex. being bisexual, but being more primarily focused on same-gender attraction).

reclaiming the historical usage of the term “lesbian”

i, personally, identify as bi-gay because while i am very much attracted to both men and women, i cannot currently envision myself in a relationship with a woman. i’m far more comfortable describing myself as gay, so i mesh the two together as a way to paint a fuller picture/capture both sides of my attraction ^_^

focusing on that last point of the list, which i feel is the most important, lesbian did not always mean someone who is only attracted to women! up until the 1970’s, lesbian solely meant a woman who was in a relationship with another woman, regardless of their sexuality. in the 70’s, however, radical feminists pushed for lesbian separatism, which pushed many bisexual women from their own communities because they “weren’t enough” or were “traitors to their own community” for sleeping with men. it’s also of note to mention that, because this was a push by radical feminists, it also pushed out many trans women, as well, (and if i recall, women of color) and the push against bi-lesbianism is still rooted in terf ideology to this day, if not outright pushes it. this carrd has a lot of good sources if you’d like to do some further digging into the matter yourself, but that’s the basic gist of things!

So i’m finally rewatching vrains episode 4 for my screenshot redraws and I realised something, in almost all of Go Onizuka’s duels theres a plot point of him nearing disqualification because he struggled to stand up after loosing some life points, like it happens to him more than anyone else.

Anywayss I have decided that he used to be an actual wrestler, and an injury from a fight gave him issues with walking/balance so he took up duelling instead, that doesn’t mean that it isnt still difficult for him to do the physical part of speed duelling. Explains why hes the only one that had to physically train in order to try out speed duelling too

Because I was asked to do this...

I'm going to preface this right now that I am no politician, nor am I any expert. Hell, I didn't even start college. A friend in the UK asked me to write this and gave me the questions so that I am going to attempt to the best of my knowledge answer. Again this is all @eastoniablog's fault though hey if it opens a conversation I'm all for it as long as said conversation stays respectful.

Now let's see what I have to work with.... Again I am no expert, just a normal over stressed, over worked, GenXer trying to make sense of things. Politics is WAY out of my field of expertise.

What's going on? (Had to have her clarify that this was about politics because oh man... loaded question alone here)

Oh where to start with this one... I guess I'll start with the fact that we are one fucked up country. I mean we have two main political parties, there are others, but sadly they don't get much say in anything because how our political system is set up, those with more funding usually get put on the ballot and those who can't get the funding, are usually ignored because "no one cares".

Not everyone really fits into either party and not everyone who is of legal voting age votes. but back to the question. Two parties, the Democrats and Republicans. Guess the easy way to define them would be the Democrats are the party that isn't controlled by the church.

(And I'm going to state here I'm not against Christians, I know several awesome ones, but I am against how at least with American Churches, it's convert or die (Or you go to hell, though I would rather spend an eternity there than in Heaven if it's all filled with the kind of ilk that forgets that their savior preached "Love Thy Neighbor" and traveled the known world with mostly a group of men, whores, and other outcasts). I'm Pagan, I've dabbled in church a few times, and ya know what, not a single one that I have been a member of practice what the book teaches. I may be a bit more biased because on top of being Pagan I'm an opinionated Ace woman who has known friends and family who are also Alphabet Mafia unalive themselves because of the propaganda American churches shove down our throats on a daily basis. Now with that said.. )

The other party are the Republicans, which Donald Trump is a member and has royally fucked over, because of him they proudly are showing their racism, and hatred of women (I mean really with that election and the last one ANY male that voted for him that has a daughter should be investigated in my opinion, because anyone who idolizes a man that idolizes Hitler and wants to sleep with his own daughter... Needs to have their head fucking checked!) , as well as the fact that they think people are stupid. Those who don't follow that sack of garbage, are so far into the Sunday Book Club Cult that they believe anything that a homophobe preacher tells them to believe without ya know actually reading the book themselves. This is the party that is trying to make abortion illegal because "Life begins at conception" while pretty sure the book claims that live begins when the infant takes their first breath, but again what do I know? (I've read the Bible a few times, not an expert on it, but it's not that hard to read it for yourself) This is also the party that the leader of Texas's government belongs to, and he loves life so much that when the power grid failed in his state in a winter storm, he went on vacation (In the middle of Covid lockdown mind you) and let people die from the cold.

why is this happening?

I think I covered the basics... I may have missed some points. But really everything going on now is basically because the Republicans are butt hurt that their 'god' Trump (really you listen to some of them talk and praise the ass... and some of them being women like WTF, he's stated on air that he would sleep with his daughter, and oh gods I'm not even going to go with where he wants to grab those of us who were born women.

Though to be honest, the problem didn't start with him, it probably started back in the 80's with Regan, and well the GOP (Grand old Party aka Republicans) Just kept at it once they had a taste of power. After all they're the ones that started the trickle down economics that the US is stuck with since Regan, and yeah... it doesn't work. But they refuse to give up power. And now the Republicans know if they lose control they're party is doomed (it kinda is already because of the shitstorm Trump is and was)

3) why is the cycle of voting even just continuing

They keep running the vote because the Republicans don't want to give up control, so they keep going for a recount until either the democrats give in or they get what they want.

4) I've seen comparisons to Evergiven please explain

I actually had to give this one a quick glance and I think it's because America happens to be a bigger player on the world stage, and everyone's at a standstill until we figure out what way our government is going to act.

The Ever Given was a container ship that basically froze up world trade while it was stuck in the Suez Canal for over a month. Again I'm not sure if this is why but it's the only reason I can think of. Again I am not big on the political stuff, or even really current events. The news here in the US just keeps pissing me off with all the babies getting killed by bullets because a collection of cells have more rights than a grade schooler in a school, where they're supposed to be safe. Hell the man who terrorizes those kids with a gun have more rights than those kids and their mothers right now.

5) why are all you guys glue to your seats with popcorn and laughing?

The laughter isn't joyous. It's strained laughter, the kind that you do when you have pretty much lost all hope because let's face it you know you're screwed and it's laugh or cry.

And the popcorn... It's cheap. WE spend BILLIONS on the military and they can't track all that money, and using only a fraction of that money would end homelessness and hunger in this country. Hell we have the biggest military, are the only country that happens to have bases in other countries, and we can't take care of our own citizens, which for many parts of the country, the military prey on, making it seem like that's the only way that they'll ever make a survivable income. And then the US Government treats them like shit when they are medically discharged because of trauma and injuries that were caused by doing their job in the service of their country. We have homeless Vets, Young and old, with mental trauma that they can't afford to care for, or is the cause of the crippling debt that put them on the streets...

6) what's this about beating a record?

Not so sure about this one. Again I don't pay too much attention to what's going on. I know I should but for my mental health I feel it's safer to just get little glimpses now and then, and try to keep my head down because I happen to be living in a town that is very anti me.

And lucky number 7: why is this vote so important anyway?

This one, well, the vote on who the speaker of the house is going to be will tell us how well the Senate is going to be working with the President. If the Republicans control it, they're going to make sure nothing gets done out of spite just because Biden happens to be a Democrat. And they love making it look like the president is an incompetent fool (while their own Presidents in the past have had the inability to actually speak clearly, Bush couldn't string a sentence together to sound like he was smart to save his life... and Trump is the village idiot's toenail).

I hope that answers some questions, now I'm going to go back to things that I know more about.

the thing is there's like, a point of oversaturation for everything, and it's why so many things get dropped after a few minutes. and we act like millennials or gen z kids "have short attention spans" but... that's not quite it. it's more like - we did like it. you just ruined it.

capitalism sees product A having moderate success, and then everything has to come out with their "own version" of product A (which is often exactly the same). and they dump extreme amounts of money and environmental waste into each horrible simulacrum they trot out each season.

now it's not just tiktokkers making videos; it's that instagram and even fucking tumblr both think you want live feeds and video-first programming. and it helps them, because videos are easier to sneak native ads into. the books coming out all have to have 78 buzzwords in them for SEO, or otherwise they don't get published. they are making a live-action remake of moana. i haven't googled it, but there's probably another marvel or starwars something coming out, no matter when you're reading this post.

and we are like "hi, this clone of project A completely misses the point of the original. it is soulless and colorless and miserable." and the company nods and says "yes totally. here is a different clone, but special." and we look at clone 2 and we say "nope, this one is still flat and bad, y'all" and they're like "no, totally, we hear you," and then they make another clone but this time it's, like, a joyless prequel. and by the time they've successfully rolled out "clone 89", the market is incredibly oversaturated, and the consumer is blamed because the company isn't turning a profit.

and like - take even something digital like the tumblr "live streaming" function i just mentioned. that has to take up server space and some amount of carbon footprint; just so this brokenass blue hellsite can roll out a feature that literally none of its userbase actually wants. the thing that's the kicker here: even something that doesn't have a physical production plant still impacts the environment.

and it all just feels like it's rolling out of control because like, you watch companies pour hundreds of thousands of dollars into a remake of a remake of something nobody wants anymore and you're like, not able to afford eggs anymore. and you tell the company that really what you want is a good story about survival and they say "okay so you mean a YA white protagonist has some kind of 'spicy' love triangle" and you're like - hey man i think you're misunderstanding the point of storytelling but they've already printed 76 versions of "city of blood and magic" and "queen of diamond rule" and spent literally millions of dollars on the movie "Candy Crush Killer: Coming to Eat You".

it's like being stuck in a room with a clown that keeps telling the same joke over and over but it's worse every time. and that would be fine but he keeps fucking charging you 6.99. and you keep being like "no, i know it made me laugh the first time, but that's because it was different and new" and the clown is just aggressively sitting there saying "well! plenty of people like my jokes! the reason you're bored of this is because maybe there's something wrong with you!"

You commented in the tags on my snake post and I just wanted to answer that he's a Banana morph! I was going to try and get an Albino, my local pet store had one as a store pet that I loved growing up, but a local breeder I found had a lot of Banana morphs for a good price since they have male maker genetics. I don't intend to breed him, so that was fine with me!

Ahh, I was way off... Glad that you was able to get one from a breeder and not a pet store (I have heard it is generally better for reptiles, but my sources might be biased).

For me Albino ball pythons do look good, but it also seemed at least some time ago that anyone who isn't a breeder would have an albino or pastel or pied one, so I am glad to see someone who found simple morph which also makes a snake recognisable from others )

okay i've seen a few Just Some Guy!danny aus and they've consumed my brain so here you go, it's under the cut, you're welcome and thank you (ps it also combines part of a prompty type thing i saw the other day, props if you know it)

Danny was not entirely sure how he got here.

He was just walking along, bopping to some great interdimensional tunes, eating his tuna fish sandwich - with ectoplasm and pickles, of course - when KABLOW there's this big ole tightie-whities-on-the-outside wearing guy.

Now, Danny's not great at keeping up with the times, but he's pretty sure this is that Superman dude.

Said SuperDude was staring at his headphones and making vague "hey take them out pls so can converse" gestures, so naturally Danny pops the Interdimensional Walkman out of his chest to pause his wicked music, and then puts the whole kit and kaboodle back behind his rib cage.

"What's up? Did you need help or something? I mean, I'm pretty solidly retired but I guess if it's super important I can-"

SuperGuy abruptly stopped staring and started speaking, "Uh- no, no, thank you. Although I'm sure you could be helpful if I did need you! But, ah, well, was that a Walkman?"

Ohhhhh, Danny totally gets it now.

"Oh, dude, I gotchu. You want me to hook you up, right? Don't even worry about it, I know a guy who'll give you one a these babies for free! You're Kryptonian, right? Yeah, I totally get it, you wanna listen to some music from your home planet, no problemo my newly-minted friend, give me, like, ten seconds-"

And so Danny tore open a neat little portal and stuck his head through it, asking Technus to pretty please give him another Interdimensional Walkman, no he didn't even break this one-! He ran into a Kryptonian who heard him rockin out and wanted to know where he got the beats, and he'd told them that he could hook them up! C'mon Technus, you can't let them down! They're all lonely! They want to learn about their culture!

Clark has no idea what's happening.

He had been searching for this ear-splitting, headache-inducing noise, and had come across a guy dancing down the sidewalk.

Not unusual, right?

Except that the terrible noise was coming from this man's - kid's?? He can't quite tell how old he is - headphones!

Of course, he didn't want to be rude, so he politely gestured for the man to remove the headphones. The man then proceeded to reach into his chest and pull out some kind of - Walkman?? Do people still use Walkmans?

Clark was naturally concerned, so he activated a spot of x-ray vision, just to see what's going on in there, and was promptly horrified.

This man was using his chest cavity as a storage compartment!

Two wallets, a key ring, a lunch box, some sort of odd thermos, bits and bobs of random parts and tools were all tangled around - and occasionally in - this guy's organs!

Suddenly, Clark realized that he'd been staring for a while, and the man was now talking. Something about coming out of retirement to help, oh dear, Ma would knock him around the head if he kept being so rude, "Uh- no, no, thank you. Although I'm sure you could be helpful if I did need you! But, ah, well, was that a Walkman?"

And now he was speaking rapidly, something about music from Krypton? Clark's pretty sure that not a whole lot survived the explosion, and he'd be pretty surprised if this guy just happened to have-

A vaguely Lazarus colored portal??

Danny zips up the portal and turns around, fiddling with the tapes and Walkman in his hands as he goes.

"Here you go! I wasn't entirely sure what genre you'd want, I don't really listen to a whole lot of Kryptonian stuff to be honest, it's usually too heavy on the vocal for me- not that vocals aren't great! But I want a whole band experience, yaknow? I'm not really looking for individual singers. Anyway, I just had him go for a couple songs of each major genre, but if you want something different you can totally-"

"Wait, hold on, you're telling me that there's Kryptonian music on those tapes? Playable by that Walkman?"

"Uh, well, yeah. Isn't that why you tracked me down? And, technically, I mean, they're ectoplasmic tapes and an Interdimensional Walkman, so. Hey, did you know that kryptonite is actually super-condensed ectoplasm?
