Jean sucks at the feelings talk.

That’s why when you were gonna head home for the summer break, you got a text saying you should see other people.

Violent thoughts overtook your brain as you dropped your box as you were packing to head back to your family’s place for the holidays.

And the snow globe he brought you shattered, glitter spilling across the wooden planks.

You were never the sort of person to chase after a man.

But being dogged out by somebody who was your first everything was probably the biggest blow you’d experienced in a while.

The entire summer was spent in your room, curtains shut as Radiohead droned on. Your parents and siblings were getting sick of you.

But bit by bit, you got there. Slowly rebuilding yourself. You weren’t completely whole again after Jean broke your heart.

You could say you glued yourself back together and put on a brave face when senior year began.

People talked — they always do. Seems like Jean had been having a whale of a time since he shot that stupid text. He’d got around, to say the least.

And you brushed it off.

That is until you were in the same vicinity as your asshole ex who couldn’t even give you the grace of breaking up with you face to face.

He was burning lasers into the back of your head as you weaved your way through the masses of crowds in the rowdy frat party.

They’re lame but you promised your friends you’d try since you were ghost all summer.

You were getting all kinds of stares and whistles. The bodysuit at the rushed attempt at Mileena was garnering attention, to say the least.

Greeting your friends, downing the gross alcohol juice concoction in the solo cup, you were actually enjoying yourself.

That is until he who shall not be named descended onto you like a bat out of hell, dragging you to the closet.

“Jean!” You hissed, ripping away from his grip on your wrist. “What the hell is your problem?!”

“Oh, I'm the one with the problem...?”

“Yeah! Stop giving me evils at every dude I dance with!”

“So you'd prefer to be kissing a few other schmucks?” He spat. He had a habit of clenching his jaw whenever he was mad and the nerve in his temple would throb.

“Maybe! I bet they wouldn’t dump me via text like YOU!” You barked at him. You were angry but you could already feel a lump in your throat.

That shut him up. You could practically see the humiliation washing over him.

“Well, I just couldn't deal with being stuck with your whiny bs every day, but I was too weak to just say it. So I broke up with you over text.” He fumed. “It was the biggest pussy move of my life. I should've just been honest right from the get-go, but I guess I was a coward. There. You happy now?”

He looked mortified. You blinked a few times, feeling your eyes sting.

“Oh God, please don’t cry, I never meant…” Jean stuttered as he put his hands on your shoulders. “No, don’t do this to me, baby…”

He paused. Freudian slip of the pet name.

“I…drove you away?”

This is so stupid. Cramped in a closet, crying. He hadn’t even told you why. He just told you he thought you should see other people.

“Listen, it was never about you, it was about us being wrong for each other. I just couldn't see it, but I guess I should've known. I was too selfish to notice how I was making you feel. I'm sorry, I've just been a complete jerk to you. I should have just told you sooner how I was feeling, but in the end it's no excuse for how I've treated you. You just didn't deserve any of it. You didn't do anything wrong, you didn't do anything wrong, okay?”

“Okay. But…we’re not together anymore. Why do care if I dance with other guys?!”

“It’s probably just some stupid male ego thing. I guess I just feel like if I'm not the centre of your life, then I've failed. It's my own insecurities coming back to haunt me.” He said lowly as he struggled to meet your eyes.

The explanation. It clicked. It made sense. Jean was a hothead who was always terrified of losing you. Despite your constant reassurance, he never believed you.

But as you slumped against the wall and clutched your head, all the heartbreak from the summer hitting you like a truck, the right answer just seemed so damn absurd.

He kneeled in front of you, cupping your cheeks.

“Don’t touch me.” You muttered despite you falling into his touch regardless.

“I'm sorry. God, I'm an idiot.” He sighed.

“No…I mean, yeah you’re an asshole for dumping me via text but I’m sorry I was driving you mad.” You groaned.

You knew you were a lot to deal with. You and Jean both jumped too fast into this relationship.

“You shouldn't be apologizing. You deserve someone better than me. Hell, I don't even know how you put up with me for so long.”

“Is that why? Is that why you dumped me, Jean?”

He smoothed the top of your head and kissed your forehead gently.

“Maybe. But there's more to it than that. I was too scared of being in a relationship, of committing. Being with you meant having an obligation, having to give you my time and attention. I just couldn't handle it. But if I'm being honest with myself, I know that was just an excuse. The truth is, I knew you were out of my league the moment I laid eyes on you. I knew I wasn't good enough for you.”

You felt anger overtake your senses as you balled up your fist and thumped his chest, hard.

“Ow! Hey! I'm telling you the truth, don't take it out on me! I never wanted to hurt you, ever! You deserved so much better than me.”

“That was not your call to make and you know it!” You cried out, furious at him.

“I know, I just couldn't see why. I was scared you'd leave me. So, I did what a selfish idiot would do, I left you first. I figured that I'd rip the band-aid so that I wouldn't have to feel so hurt when you walked out on me. So yeah, I know, I'm a complete jerk who threw away the most important person in his life.“

“You don’t get to say that bullshit. You don’t get to use that crappy excuse! You should’ve TOLD me how you felt! You asshole! You think anybody wants a text telling them to go see other people?!”

“Look, I said I was wrong Y/N! What the hell else do you want from me?!” Jean yelled. “What the hell do you see in me?”

You let out a pained noise as if the wind was almost knocked out of your chest.

“When you say shit like that, it breaks my heart!” You cried out.

“I'm sorry…I just think so little of myself. If I knew you could be happy with someone else, I couldn't be the selfish jackass who kept you tied down to the wreck of a man like me.”

“Can you stop saying bs like this? I love YOU, I wanna be with YOU! And I’m just me. I ain’t perfect.” You said, exasperatedly.

“No, but you're pretty damn close.” He said with a snort.

“Idiot.” You sighed as you leaned in to kiss him.

“Hurry the fuck UP IN THERE!” A voice yelled, banging on the door.

“Jesus!” You cried out, as your hand gripped your chest in shock.

“Oh, I think someone's just jealous he's missing out on all this.” Jean said with a cocky grin as he lifts you, presses you against the door and suck on your lower lip gently which makes you moan slightly.

“Ah fuck, they’re doing it!” A voice calls out.

You couldn't turn him down. The glimmer in his eyes was making your heart race.

You sat on the edge of the bed. It'd only been a summer away, one season. But his body looked a bit different.

"Did you go somewhere hot?" You asked, referring to the tan.

"Yeah, went to Cali for two weeks." He said as he began to pull his shirt over his head, revealing his muscular physique. "You?"

"Oh, nothing much. Just wallowed in my room to OK Computer."

"Jesus fuckin' Christ." Jean said with a wince. "Y/N, I'm sorry."

"I love how the idea of me wallowing to Radiohead is emitting that level of disgust from you."

You ran your fingers through his hair as he kissed your neck before finding your lips with his mouth and pulling you in close. His fingers digging into the plump flesh of your skin. Afraid he'd lose you again.

Your tongues intertwined as you embraced in a long, deep, intimate kiss that made you both moan.

"You missed me, huh?" You teased, when the two of you laid in the sheets, out of breath.

"You have no idea, Y/N." He whispered as he kissed the spot underneath your ear. "Can I ask you something?"

"Go ahead." You mumbled.

"You said you didn't see anybody during our break up, so what did you do...when you had needs? Huh?"

You wanted to roll your eyes. This was definitely Jean's insecurity all over again.

That’s a big question and I’ll try to do my best! Explaining something that technic not in your native language can be uncertain so, I’m sorry in advance 🙏

First of all: Observe. Comics, doujins, mangas,… Just observe to learn how others do.

Comic is a narrative art so, the most important things in comic is the reading way aka the panels (the angles you choose), the speech bubbles and how you put them in your comic page. It’s really the first thing you have to put in your storyboard!

Texts in the speech bubbles are also veeeery important. Texts that are badly formatted is painful to read… Avoid doing cesura as often as possible and do nice text forms.

And please, if you choose a manga layout, do not put japanese speech bubbles, they’re really not suitable for western texts.

If you want to to a webtoon instead of a regular comic/manga, you have to thing your layout quite differently. Webtoons are more like storyboard for animation. Like a series of forceful scenes. Plus, you have to deal with the required format. I’m not pretty used to do some, I’m just working with a lot of them (I do the texts for them). I can recommend you Sweet Home (cw: horror, hikikomori) to see how the author use the long layout of the webtoon to skillfully instill the jump scares in their episodes!

A quick “how I do” to finish my blah-blah! ٩( ᐛ )و

First, I write my plot like a play (quick context for each act, full dialogues with stage directions) then storyboard. Tiny storyboard, I sketch 15 pages on an A4 page. Better global view. I can’t give specific advices on how to do panels (cause it’s something that just pops in my mind during my storyboard stage 💦) just keep in mind to diversify your angles especially during a talk between 2 characters. Don’t do a shot reverse shot, it’s just boring.

Then pages. I usually rework my storyboard at the sketch stage ‘cause I have a new eye on it lol

Also, don’t forget to think about the facing pages for the narration. You can do some fun page layout!

sooooo i may have. spent my day binge watching dungeon meshi and here are my Opinions, having never read the manga ever (very MINOR ANIME SPOILERS ahead! nothing too in-depth but, y'know, for laughs):

laios is my autistic blorbo son boy and i love him and i want him to be happy. go find your sister, dude, but also eat monsters for fun and research reasons. this is the one context where i would say "eat monsters" like... ever

laios is also 1,000 percent a freak for wanting to eat monsters and study them the way he does. absolutely insane man. stop trying to be a martyr, you dumbass, and also stop poisoning yourself. both of these opinions coexist at the same time and i don't know how to feel about it because feelings (and social cues) are difficult

marcille is a lady who is so so SO smart and cool, but has absolutely ZERO street smarts. (babygirl you are JUST like me, except for the whole "being a woman" thing.) she's a "gifted" kid who now has burnout and needs to feel useful or else she feels like a failure constantly kinda girlie. she doesn't want to be abandoned. relatable. i'm concerned at how much i relate to her. stop being so relatable, dammit!!

chilchuck is INCREDIBLY emotionally constipated. lmao. he also has chronic young-forever face, which means he probably gets mistaken for a twelve-to-sixteen-year-old constantly, which... same, dude, same. i've heard (from the manga readers) that he's divorced with several children, but i don't know if that's true. i hope it is. i really want that to be where part of his issues come from. i want more angsty moments with his character. he'll be my new emotional punching bag when i finish all those other unrelated one-shots i'm planning on writing :)

senshi is a sweet man who just wants to feed and protect his new friends. i think food and acts of service are his love languages. he has a really fuckin' strong pot and knife for some reason lmao

i love falin. she's kind of a freak too, but she knows social cues better than her brother from what i can tell. sure hope nothing bad happens to her- oh gods. well, i sure hope nothing ELSE bad happens to her- OH GODS OH FUCK-

the wanderer and furina story was beautiful!! i loved the little foreshadowing to dancing a waltz alone, which i read was furina dancing at the stage as the hydro archon all alone—but she’s not alone because scaramouche is there as well.

it was genius to have scaramouche see the funeral of furina and furina the funeral of scaramouche. i’m not sure if this is reading too much but the front part of the story hints at neuvilette controlling the rain, and the fact that it rained at the end… does it allude to how neuvilette was mourning for the death of what furina was (which was her act and the furina that he grew to know) but in the midst of people mourning the loss furina is freed and found a partner who understands her turmoil and they sort of relish in that fact they aren’t alone??? either way, i loved it and i would love more author’s commentary!

i was so close to cutting out the rain at the end but i was like nooooooo i need the weather symbolism (incredible archetype btw i love weather), and furiously tried to figure out a good ending sentence. you basically got all my thoughts LOL i wanted people to make the connection between rain as rebirth and the washing away of old sins, but also like. the sky is crying. it is dreary and miserable and they're soaked to the bone but the last string connecting their present to their past has finally been dissolved, and now... maybe they're free to move on to sunnier days.. etc,,, i didn't think too much about neuvillette's role in this but what you said 100% works <3 im still unsure what he thinks of furina tbh so i didn't really elaborate DSKFJKSDJ. last thought about the rain: they both have a thing about crying, but the only thing wet during that scene was the rain—i guess i was trying to show like, neither furina nor scara think that this death is a bad thing, or maybe all the tears they could've shed already dried up. it's only other people who mourn for their pasts.

also i forgot but the fire was supposed to be a lowkey callback to when scara burned the house down when his unnamed child died. the entire theme i was kinda going for was like. a farewell to your past; no matter what happened before, maybe you can finally put it down, and leave it behind, live today unrestrained by yesterday's pain, etc.

if i was an animator this would've gone so much better because the scenes were so clear cut in my head. ideally the flow is like this: furina says she can see kabukimono. wanderer's face whitens in a flash, until he's the color of a sheet of paper and it's actually scary to look at. he recovers, says the line about his and furina's funeral. he steps closer to her and turns so that they're directly facing each other, faces like two feet apart. it cuts to a closeup of their faces, panning from furina's, neutral/apprehensive, to wanderer's, eyebrows furrowed, face set (entirely self centered anger that this, of all things, is fate's last laugh at him). and idk the light changes and makes his eyes glassier and more reflective, and furina sees her old self—the camera gets sucked into her reflection (like you're diving into the void) as her face warps in a terrible twisted way, maybe some blood idk; the camera zooms back out, furina breathes heavily, looking disturbed and a bit sick. wanderer is slightly off to the side and his face is blurred (the focus is on furina's slightly horrified face) but he's watching her closely and carefully, but without judgement. wanderer holds out his hand, and furina takes it, and immediately the hiss of the fire starts. its like one of those gigantic funeral pyres, wild and leaping and intense, and she watches the pile of kabukimono doll get smaller and smaller. somewhere in the middle a blackened chunk of something gets spit out (his heart), lands at their feet. the most important part is that after the fire burns itself out, the rain starts immediately. sudden downpour, very heavy etc. the viewer should feel a wave of Closure and Relief after the intensity of the burning. a slow waltz starts playing in the background, low, smooth, and very quiet. they just stand there, and the camera zooms out until they're just two dark blue/black smears against a blurry gray backdrop. end scene

also about the characterization: that's good I always wonder whether I'm leaning too much into my own writing voice instead of sticking closer to the character's canonical language register and mannerisms haha

I was wondering if you've ever discussed the lyrics of Tondemo Wonderz on a post? If not, what are your thoughts on it?

I haven't because I don't think song analysis is my forte, and because lots of people already posted their thoughts about Tondemo Wonderz my interpretation on how it relates to Tsukasa might overlaps with them, if it's okay with you (o;_ _)o

(I'm using the full lyrics translation from vocaloid wiki and a little bit of my own reading of the JP here)

First, the words "memory" and "erase" kinda appear a lot in different parts of the song in a lot of context:

思い出に消しゴム！？　あれっ。(Take an eraser to your memories?! Huh...)

Everyone probably has dissected this part a lot lol. Connecting it to the main story, we're never told why Tsukasa lost sight and forgot his true feeling in the first place. This lyrics kinda hinted that he chose to forget about his painful memories and feelings but unknowingly forgetting his cherished ones (specifically his true feeling that created Wonderland Sekai) as well. If I have to guess, it's because of Saki's long hospitalization and Toya's despair over classical music.

おとなたちの鋭利営利な目盛×メモリー悩まされすぎちゃって寄り目になっちゃいそーね！！ (The adults’ sharp, money-making memories make us worry too much!)

This one is... maybe about how reality isn't as sweet as imagination? Tsukasa is someone who firmly has his feet planted on the ground but able to dream big, so maybe it's how his ideal and pragmatism clashed with each other sometimes.

正解も不正解も 大切なメモリー (Right and wrong answers are important memories)

This one referred to the previous "erasing memories" line, how "right and wrong answers" = good and bad decisions = good and bad memories were important so thy shouldn't be erased.

Referring to the "successes and failures" in the lyrics in the reff, ie. and how those decisions lead to his current and future self. Fitting, because Tsukasa needed to learn to embrace his past mistakes (and successes) to look at himself now and the future.

まだまだ一緒しよ？の魂胆です 101回目のソンな小指メモリー拝借 “ハッピーも失敗も消さないから！！” (we’re still doing it together, right? That’s my plan. I borrow the 101st pinky memory.“I won’t erase happiness or failures, after all.”)

Interestingly, why is the memory is written as pinky finger in the kanji? I guess it's to show that memory = promise (as in, pinky promise). It's probably to refer how he promised Miku and everyone else that he won't forget his true feelings anymore, no matter how it brought him happiness and failure--because yes, he would face failure down to road.

つまずく日もあるよ (There are days when I fail too.)

成功失敗も「全部」だいすき！でいいじゃん！！(I love all successes and failures! That’s fine, right?)

Second, there's a lot of posturing in the lyrics:

Being confused isn't like Tsukasa because he's always confident in himself.

Tsukasa's true feeling to make everyone smile and the ways how he tried to do so, talking about it as a 'plot' --or in other words as something scripted. There's a possibility he 'scripted' the way he behaved to make everyone smile before it finally stuck.

どうにもこうにも救えない困難もいいじゃん！！みんなみんな救っちゃお！のポーズで ちょっとやそっとじゃ潰れない笑顔どうじゃん！ 100回オチても不死議は鳥乱さない

(I reckon it’s fine to have troubles you can’t do a thing about! I make a pose like I’m gonna save everyone. How about this smile, it’s not gonna crumble at all! Even if I fall 100 times, I’m like a phoenix. I won’t get upset!)

So If we put Tsukasa's song, we can see this as how he may not know how to solve other's problems, but by showing a confident smile he wanted others to rely on him. And even if he can't do it, he won't let others give up relying on him because he'll try again and again.

Paired with how the song said that both successes and failures are important, it's good that Tsukasa know learned to take failures as another way to success in the future.

Another repeat of how his smile won't falter, but this time he 'acts' like he'll do it with everyone. Kinda hinted that at this point in time in the song, while Tsukasa worked with everyone, he wouldn't rely on others and had the mindset to be the most reliable person that others can lean on.

It kinda relates to some line after this about being together with others is another 'plan' or script. So, while he worked with others it was just another way for him to make others smile. There was no hint of him wanting to rely or connect with others personally.

The last reff was about how he 'acts' to make everyone laugh, and by proudly showing off how his smile will always stay intact, it kinda hinted that maybe his confidence was a front. That his 'poses' won't ever crumble down and show what the real him is really like. Because even if he falls he will always show off a confident 'pose' and smile in his plot to save others and make them smile and laugh.

Tl;dr from these two points my take on Tondemo Wonderz in relation to Tsukasa is:

Tsukasa deliberately forgot his past failures and painful memories but because he did that he accidentally erased his happy memories and true feelings. He erased his own memories because he wanted to act confident so others could rely on his unwavering self. After meeting WxS, he learned that he needed to embrace failures as well to be able to face his current and future self, but it didn't mean that he would give up on his act any time soon. In fact, he thought that his act would only keep getting better because he's learning from his failures. Would he open up to WxS? By that point in the story, no. But Curtain Call hinted that Tsukasa is slowly opening up to his personal worries--starting with Rui.

wot reread: the gathering storm (chapters 7-16)

spoilers for the gathering storm

1. So, the themes of the previous PoV chapters centered around duty, and what you need to be willing to sacrifice for your duty. I’m kinda curious if this theme continues!

2. Nynaeve is worried about the approaching storm and being reminded of Moiraine by the Aes Sedai who is currently with her (because the woman is wearing a kesiera). Ah-HA. We learn here that Cadsuane DID steal the male Choden Kal and is still keeping it herself. I wondered at the end of Winter’s Heart if she was planning on keeping it after she stole it from Rand, and am not surprised at the answer. Anyway, Nynaeve is practicing for the Aes Sedai test and she’s doing her best not to worry about Lan - she’s done everything that she can to help him on his self-imposed task, and there’s no good in dwelling.

3. Corele was the one who essentially talked Nynaeve into doing this (by arguing that it would be a favor for Daigan, the Aes Sedai teaching her, who is grieving over Eben dying during the cleansing) -- Corele has been doing ALL the heavy lifting in terms of actually being able to get through to Two Rivers’ people so far in this book. Literally has been SO much more useful than Cadsuane at this point (she’s one of Aes Sedai who Healed Rand after the Fain attack too) - at this point in the story, bringing Corele into Rand’s narrative is the most useful thing that Cadsuane has done.

4. Oh! Nynaeve is thinking about the wrongness of the Might Equals Right system of the White Tower hierarchy. Haha, I love her comparison here -- “She herself was so strong in the Power - one of the strongest alive - that she often took little thought for her ability. It was much as a very tall man rarely paid attention to other people’s heights; everyone else was shorter than he, and so their different heights didn’t matter” (lol, mildly shading her boy Rand). I love this because Nynaeve is, Power-wise, at the TOP of the hierarchy (or will be once she’s accepted as a full Sister by everyone) and she’s looking at Daigan and thinking, it’s not right that she has to show deference to everyone else simply because she’s so much weaker in the Power. So true! It’s a BAD system, Nynaeve. Okay, Nynaeve is feeling invested in Tower Reform. That’s good! I will tuck that information away.

5. Nynaeve thinks of Mat as “Matrim” here but I will allow it, because it’s in the context of remembering him as a youthful prankster. This “Matrim” is in character. Haha, though, Nynaeve remembering Mat and Rand pulling pranks together. Sorry, Third Friend Perrin, lol. But Nynaeve thinking here about how SHE will always think of Rand as the village boy that she once knew and not of the fearsome Dragon Reborn is very sweet (though this thought is heavily tested during the upcoming conversation). That said, worry about Mat! You left him behind in Ebou Dar, Nynaeve, and then NEVER TOLD RAND ABOUT IT. grumble, grumble. Technically, I think Rand vaguely implied last book in a big group of people that included Nynaeve that HE knew Mat was alive and well, but I’m still annoyed that NO ONE EVER actually TOLD Rand that Mat got abandoned at the end of A Crown of Swords. Communicate using words, people! (hilariously, not thinking of communicating with people using words is explicitly one of the things that Nynaeve is annoyed with Rand about in this section; Healer, heal thyself)

6. Anyway, the Aiel have officially arrived at the manor. lol, “Min was in the tent [with Rand], of course” yes, god forbid the umbilical cord be stretched too far, lol. Honestly, it was such a relief to get Rand without Min glommed onto him in his last chapter, but I guess it couldn’t last forever. Though, as is tradition, she is just here to be Rand’s therapy plushie and doesn’t actually contribute to the discussion. It’s so weird here that Nynaeve thinks about how Rand is being silly for refusing to marry Min and yet DOESN’T think about the love confession that she literally witnessed between Elayne, Aviendha, and Min towards Rand back in Winter’s Heart. ??? (tongue-in-cheek theory: Nynaeve used SO MUCH of the Power during the cleansing that it impacted her memory and she no longer remembers that Mat was left behind in Ebou Dar, that Aviendha, Elayne, & Min confessed their love to Rand in front of her, and has lost all knowledge of the sul’dam secret)

7. Nynaeve thinks that Semirhage should have been stilled as soon as she was captured. YES. Great way around Rand’s stupid “we don’t kill women even when they are among the most dangerous people in the world and we would have absolutely have killed a man if he’d done the same things that she’s done” policy and would have been a good way to try to create some HARM REDUCTION. And they can even heal stilling... if they want to... so it wouldn’t even be as permanent as Rand losing his hand, if they didn’t want it to be.

8. Rand is trying to figure out how to bring peace to Arad Doman. That is exactly the thing that Moridin has tasked Graendal with preventing him from doing. Ironically, this is actually the thing she was ALREADY doing before Moridin pulled her away to tell her that he’s her boss now. She was already creating chaos in Arad Doman.

9. *resigned sigh* honestly, so sad that Rand is approaching this situation in terms of “how can I STOP Ituralde from defending his homeland so that I can make nice with the invaders?”. Depressing! Ituralde is literally working WITH Dragonsworn right now! I wish that Rand had been able to approach him from a “let me help you defeat the Seanchan so that you can help me in the Last Battle” stance. And Rand is just so... idk, weirdly certain that the Daughter of the Nine Moons is a person that is open to compromise, given that his latest intel on the Seanchan is that his OFFICIAL ENVOY to their ‘capitol’ to request an official meeting ending up being answered by one of the Forsaken. Why would he assume that the Daughter of the Nine Moons is even still alive at this point?

10. Ah, Siuan. I do have complicated feelings about Siuan. Or, I guess they aren’t that complicated -- I dislike the romance with Gareth Bryne, and wish I could have the rest of Siuan’s storyline but have the romance snipped out. I am hoping that the show will grant my wish. *fingers crossed*

11. Siuan is very proud & pleased of Egwene’s progress as Amrylin (even as she worries over Egwene in captivity), particularly of all the novices that Egwene has brought into the Tower with her policy changes. Over a thousand! Another thing that will inevitably have an impact on the shape of the White Tower to come, no matter what. All that fresh blood, all those new ideas. Siuan thinks here about how the world & the White Tower needs Egwene to be Amrylin. Also: important world-building note here, I think, is that though many Aes Sedai WORRY that the ability to use the One Power is being culled out of the species, we can see that this is straight-up untrue as the series progressed. It was never that fewer people can channel; it’s that fewer channelers are ending up at the White Tower as Aes Sedai. As soon as Egwene relaxes the parameters of recruiting, the numbers step WAY up even just in this swatch of space in-between Salidar and Murandy before they Traveled to Tar Valon (the same with Taim being able to locate men with the potential).

12. Anyway, though I don’t like the Siuan and Gareth relationship overall, I appreciate this conversation here where they actually talk to each other like grownups. That’s something of a breath of fresh air. Sanderson often approaches romances as... things that sensible people work out in conversation, lol, which is also not always to my personal tastes (...I like messiness), but it’s much less frustrating than Jordan’s Women And Men Just Can’t Understand Each Other approach (I don’t like stubborn miscommunication and silence). Which tends to mean, overall, that I feel less passionately about Sanderson’s romances that I do like, but I also have a much lower amount of annoyed frustration with his romances. NEITHER of them are what I’d call romance writers though. (my favorite fictional romance in a non-romance book for me is probably... ah, I am fond of Aral and Cordelia’s romance from the Vorkosigan Saga.)

13. Hmm. Perrin. When last we spent time with Perrin, he’d decided that slavers were okay as long as they helped him get what he wanted. I wonder if he’ll decide he has time for morals again now that Faile is back in his life. Ah, Perrin is trying to focus on simple, straight-forward work not to think about ~unreliable men~ like himself. Okay, let’s see where this train of thought goes. The question I have now is what, exactly, Perrin is blaming himself for. Is it what I would be blaming him for or will be it something out of left field? Hmm. Perrin thinks about how he should be thrilled to have Faile back, since she’s literally EVERYTHING to him, but something still feels wrong.

14. Did I know before now that Berelain’s main commander was named Bertain? It’s almost the exact same name, this is so distracting. Is there a law in Mayene that everyone must be name Ber_ain? Apparently he was first mentioned back in A Crown of Swords, per the wiki.

15. Balwer tries to point out to Perrin his flaws in selling the Shaido Wise Ones into slavery, a decision that pissed off all the Aiel traveling with him. He points out that even in this brief time, he’s already learned that the Wise Ones had been at odds with each other in the Shaido camp and that they’d been in contact with a mysterious figure who’d offered them objects of Power from the Age of Legends, which might be information useful to people, such as, idk, the Dragon Reborn. Perrin... does not care. He thinks of the Wise Ones as “given over to the Seanchan while unconscious, to do with as they pleased”. Yikes, Perrin. Yikes. Sadly, in character per Knife of Dreams, but big yikes. Yeah, so Perrin has completely written off the, you know, two hundred women that he sold into slavery. So... that’s a ‘no’ on getting his morals back.

16. “He wasn’t stupid, he just liked to think about things.” Perrin Aybara, you have spent this entire chapter doing makework to AVOID thinking about things. “liked to think about things”. HA!

17. Anyway, Faile has returned from murdering Masema scouting. Perrin just kinda watches her from afar for a moment. Then Tam arrives to talk to him. Perrin was kinda a total asshole to him last book so, uh, let’s see how this conversation goes. lol, wow, Perrin is still a complete ASS to Tam when talking to him about his son. “[Rand] seems to like scooping up kingdoms. Like a child playing a game of wobbles”. wtf, Perrin. That’s his DAD. First he doesn’t ever bother to tell Tam that his son is the Dragon Reborn and then once Tam finds out from someone else, Perrin just uses him as a dumping ground to whine about Rand.

18. Ah, Perrin has finally figured out that he’s a bad leader (not in the “oh no please don’t call me lord” way but in the “abandoning everything else and throwing away his people to chase after a selfish goal” way). ...and immediately tries to distract himself from the thought by throwing himself into more carpentry work. lol.

19. ...Perrin is under the belief that his wolf nose can sniff out ~noble heritage~. lol, okay, bro. If I recall correctly, you didn’t pick up on Faile being noble until she flat-out told you, but okay. You still haven’t figured out that Morgase is a former queen, but, sure. You can sniff out nobility. That’s definitely something that you can smell. Anyway, he figures that it’s finally time to head to Rand. He doesn’t think about Masema, his actual reason for coming out here, a single time (except to note that Aram’s ~heart~ was poisoned by him, but he doesn’t think about him in the context of Masema being the WHOLE REASON that he’s in this country to begin with). He managed to distract himself so much from his purpose that he has completely forgotten it. Amazing. Good thing Faile was there to actually do something useful, I guess.

20. Rand makes Ituralde give up his noble fight against the slavers invading his homeland. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Honestly, Ituralde was one of the very few high points for me during CoT & KoD, so this is extremely upsetting. Yes, Ituralde is working with very few resources and is stretched way too thin and every battle had the chance to be his last, but it just PAINS me to think of what he could have accomplished against the Seanchan if Rand were coming here to help him instead of divert him. Even now, he’s being clever by hiding in a stedding to blunt the possible attacks of damane against him. “The young Ituralde had often dreams of wars, of glory in battle. The old Ituralde knew there was no such thing as glory to be found in battle. But there was honor.” I’m feeling an emotion. Feeling kinda choked up tbh. I don’t blame Ituralde for taking Rand’s deal, but I wish that Rand were offering him a different one. Ituralde DOES get Rand’s guarantee that he won’t let the Seanchan have Arad Doman.

21. Oh, no, it’s so cute that Aviendha decides that complaining MUST actually be honorable among wetlanders because Elayne does it too, that’s adorable. This whole ‘doing make work for the Wise Ones and not having enough honor to even talk to the guy that she literally is mind-bonded to’ remains such a silly silly thing though. It makes Aviendha being in Arad Doman feel as pointless as the ‘useless’ work that she’s doing for the Wise Ones. Literally they have a one-sentence exchange here and then separate again. This is the first time Aviendha has so much as said ‘boo’ to Rand since she arrived, so I also find it very out of character that he just walks off (she was literally JUST IN DANGER from the literal Dark One’s touch turning someone into a lump of tar that radiates unnatural heat so “I have to stay away from her to protect her” seems like a very stupid excuse right now, especially if he’s stalking off to go have sex with Min, who he constantly puts in danger despite her actually being much more helpless than either Aviendha or Elayne). Just... I am enjoying Aviendha’s narrative voice here but am so frustrated at Aviendha and Rand being kept separate for literally zero reason or point. But Aviendha calling him “Rand” and not “Rand al’Thor” does affect my heart.

22. Merise flirts with Aviendha. Or hits her up for the Aes Sedai. I’m going go with ‘flirts with’, because that’s more fun. She eyes Aviendha ~appreciatively~ and admires how Aviendha ~handles~ her ~weaves~. I actually do really like Melaine and Aviendha’s conversation afterwards, where Melaine is trying to get Aviendha to realize that she IS thinking like a Wise One and needs to be able to admit this to herself, but I think the Aiel’s teaching methods here are somewhat counterproductive. But honestly, I’m annoyed at this random roadblock of “Aviendha has decided she can’t sleep with Rand again Honor Reasons”. It just feels arbitrary.

23. A month has now passed, as we go back to Egwene’s PoV. A WHOLE MONTH? That seems like... way too much time. I feel like it’s about logistics, maybe? Anyway. A Whole Month Later. One minor thing that is interesting to me is that Egwene shows here that she has learned how to channel THROUGH having mild doses of forkroot, so it’s not something that can be used to permanently incapacitate channelers even if they keep being forced to drink it. Did we already know that?

24. Fast-forwarding a month does mean that we can see that the seeds of Egwene’s planting have taken root, and more and more of the Sisters are treating her as an authority instead of a prisoner. Meidani (after having been taught Traveling) is able to lead Egwene to the room where the Black Ajah Hunters meet (since her Oath to them prevents her from telling Egwene what happened), and Egwene has a frank conversation with them which leads to a tentative alliance of sorts (once she gets them to admit that since Siuan was deposed by the bare minimum of Sitters and they know for a fact that at least one of them was Black Ajah, then Siuan was unlawfully deposed).

25. Hmm, the way Gawyn talks about the world ‘compressing’ during fights reminds me of Galad in the KoD prologue & reminds me of Rand... reminds me of men who are in a pre-channeling state, basically. Gawyn as a potential channeler? I also like this conversation between Gawyn and Sleete, getting a different perspective on the split in the Tower, from the Warder of an Aes Sedai who isn’t one of the big dogs. “Nobody made any good decisions that day. There weren’t any good decisions to be made.” Oh! We also learn here that Hattori (his Warder) is the one who reported back to the Greens about Elaida’s secret true orders about Rand (so that’s likely how the rumors got into the Tower), because she disapproved.

26. Gawyn giving me Trakand family feels: “Gawyn’s mother had always taught that the workers were the spine of a kingdom; break them, and you’d soon find that you could no longer move. This city’s people might not be his sister’s subjects, but he would not see them taken advantage of by his troops”. Gawyn continues to question where his loyalty lies -- he’d never actually CHOSEN to follow Elaida, he just hadn’t trusted Siuan or the way she’d treated Elayne or Egwene. And Gawyn finally finds out here that a. Egwene is the rebels’ Amrylin; b. she’s currently a captive in the White Tower; c. she’s being tortured daily; and d. the rebel Aes Sedai have Traveling. This is what finally breaks him from wanting to try to stand on both sides -- the knowledge that Egwene is potentially going to be executed (he has no way of knowing that this isn’t in Elaida’s plan) -- and he packs up and abandons the Younglings on the hour, heading off to find the rebel army and Gareth Bryne.

27. Genuinely still do not care even in the slightest about Semirhage’s interrogation. Gonna skim to see if there are any mentions of Merise and Narishma’s relationship tho. ...nah, no mention of them at all this time. It does sound like Team Jordan genuinely forgot about all the copies of the black a’dam that were mentioned at the end of Knife of Dreams tho, because there’s only one here in Cadsuane’s box of Shit She Stole From Rand.

28. I can’t believe that Rand seriously just passively allowed a whole month to pass where Aviendha was avoiding him while they were living in the same place and he was just... sleeping with Min every night when one of the other women he loves was sleeping outside and that he never actively sought her out.

29. Anyway, he’s in a dreamshard and has a conversation with Moridin/Ishamael. Knowing that Ishamael has been brought back to life as Moridin makes Rand wonder if any of the other Forsaken that have been killed were brought back as well. Moridin mentions (a deliberate slip?) that only those killed by balefire are beyond the Dark One’s ability to revive in a new body. So if Rand wants to ensure that a Forsaken STAYS dead, he needs to use balefire.

30. Rand notices that he feels more emotionally stable here in this dreamshard than he has in the waking world recently -- he talks of Lews Therin as “I” without getting the intrusive screaming and memories. “The pieces of himself fit together better”. This conversation between old friends who are also old enemies... I am liking this a lot as well. Moridin-Ishamael-Elan is just so TIRED during this talk. He is EXHAUSTED and just wants everything to stop. And that makes so much sense -- he’s the Forsaken who was closer to the surface of the world than the others. The other Forsaken are ‘technically’ thousands of years old but he’s the only one who actually LIVED for a significant portion of that time period. I am imagining this conversation happening with Rand in the show and just... if we get there, this conversation would just have so much great old friend-enemies vibes, kinda similar to Charles & Erik from X-Men.

31. Rand is having his nightmare and Min just holds her breath and watches from a chair. Man, the thing that gets to me the most about Min being Rand’s emotional support plushie is that she isn’t even good at it. But she doesn’t do anything else! She sucks at the one job that she has assigned herself! She then thinks about how she -- the person who has been selfishly hoarding Rand’s time for MONTHS -- is uncomfortable with sharing. Then don’t get involved with a man that you KNOW is also in love with other people. YOU are the one who chased after Rand, even knowing that he already loved Elayne and Aviendha! YOU are the one who seduced him when he was vulnerable. That was you! Making a choice and blaming it on prophecy! Mat and Min, with that hands shaking meme, and the agreement they’re shaking on is “creating their own romantic misery while blaming it on prophecy and constantly whining about the inevitable consequences of their own actions”.

32. “She wasn’t Aes Sedai -- Thank the Light.” Um. WTF, Min. Literally ALL THREE of the people that you are in a sorta relationship with can all channel. Yikes, girl. “somehow she had bonded him”. Min has edited Elayne’s SELFLESS ACT OF ROMANTIC GENEROSITY entirely out of her memory and is pretending that her bond with Rand ~appeared from the ether~. SOMEHOW. It was ELAYNE, you selfish and jealous child. It was ELAYNE who bonded you to Rand, you ungrateful pain in my ass. I note that Min is happy to reap the rewards of ‘sharing’ Rand, despite her ‘discomfort’ with the idea. Min is the oldest of Rand’s girlfriends, but ~somehow~ also the least mature.

33. SOMEHOW. 😠😠😠😠😠

34. “She’d never thought that she, of all people, would become a fool for some man.” Literally your entire plotline in this book series has been about being a fool for a man. That’s your entire plotline. That’s your entire character. lol, she ‘of all people’. omg, I think that @markantonys mentioned this line when she got to it in her first read of the books, but I literally did just double over laughing - “that didn’t mean she was his pet, regardless of what some of the people in the camp said”. I was wondering last book or so what Rand’s other allies (who know about his and Elayne’s romance) thought about Min and, um, I guess that’s our answer. lol, Min thinks again about how she will ~suffer~ sharing him with others because she just loves him oh! so much! Comedy hours with Min, the ~long-suffering martyr~ who has caused all of her own problems.  At least the sex is good, I guess.

35. The contrast between Aviendha firmly thinking that it was HER choice to love Rand, not Min’s viewing, and Min’s thought here that it WASN’T her choice to love him, that was it literally anything BUT her choice (her ‘heart’, the Creator, the Pattern, etc).

36. Anyway, Rand wakes up and he and Min talk, and Min shares the ~news~ that Rand needs to break the seals on the Dark One’s prison. She’s figured out that’s what Herid Fel’s note meant! It’s also... literally what Rand himself said at the start of Lord of Chaos, before Min ever returned to his life. lol. I feel like this is an artifact of the series getting stretched out so long -- that we have to re-introduce this idea that Rand had back in book six.

37. I can’t believe that we cut from ever-jealous Min snuggling Rand in bed, like she’s gotten to do for MONTHS, to Aviendha standing outside the manor alone, and yet MIN is the one whining about her ~constant suffering~ over how she has to share Rand. The contrast is so glaring! Aviendha has to mute the bond so that she can avoid feeling Rand have sex with Min while she feels honor-bound to avoid him, but MIN is the one whining.

38. Man, I feel so much sympathy with Corana here: “These Seanchan have given [Rand] reason to declare a blood feud, but he simpers and panders to them. I feel like a trained dog, sent to lick the feet of a stranger.” That has been the EXACT mood I’ve had since the start of Crossroads of Twilight. She tells them that the Seanchan have leashed Wise Ones in their camp as damane. Aviendha and Amys agree that, for now, peace must be sought in order to fight the greater enemy, but that their spears should be turned on the Seanchan after the Last Battle.

39. Egwene has a conversation with three White Ajah Sisters over the issue of Rand al’Thor, the Dragon Reborn, and lays out what she would have done differently -- mostly pointing out Elaida and the Tower’s mistakes:

Trying to force someone who is both powerful and stubborn instead of trying to persuade him (aka the abduction)

Raising a Red Sister as their replacement Amyrlin, even though that seems very likely to come across as a threat to a man who can channel

Attempting to pretend that they had any high ground to tell him that they knew best when they were dealing with a divided White Tower themselves. “Can a cracked stone be a good foundation for a building?”

40. After Egwene gets assigned to permanent work detail (no more lessons with Sisters) to try to break her spirit, Laras tries to help her escape the White Tower but Egwene refuses to go, saying that her fight is inside the Tower.

41. Egwene is ordered to serve Elaida at dinner again, but this time there are several Sisters of various Ajahs there, including Sitters, and during the dinner, it feels to Egwene as if Elaida is deliberately insulting them and attempting to bully them to her will. “Prying the Ajahs even further apart”. When the subject of the Seanchan comes up, Elaida tells Egwene to tell the Sisters there that she has been spreading lies about them and that the Seanchan are working for “al’Thor”. Instead, after considering her options, Egwene tells the truth. She tells them that she has Dreamed that the Seanchan will attack the White Tower and that they are incredibly dangerous and their threat should not be ignored. Elaida really does set up an impossible situation for Egwene here -- back down, and she loses the respect that she’s built. Stand up, and she may get locked in a cell (or even executed) unable to continue her fight.

But, of course, pushed to the limit, Egwene does stand up for herself and for the White Tower against Elaida’s demands. “I dare the truth, Elaida.” Oh, I actually love this confrontation, exposing what Elaida has become in such full detail that none of the Sisters witnessing it can deny it (though I feel a pang of sorrow for who Elaida once was, before she was corrupted by Fain & the paranoia of Aridhol, which is on full display here as well). 100% want to see Madeleine give this speech.

Okay, that’s a good place to end. Very satisfying chapter!

as for the consistency, thank you! that's something that i have to keep in mind bc of the organic nature of 3tan. if i plot too much, it messes with my flow lol but then i have to keep going back to see what happened and keep going from there.

I mean ay least there nice about it. Huh well something new I learn everyday. I definitely I feel that, I don’t want to hear happy music when I’m sad so sad music it is. Honestly I think sad music I hear regardless since it’s so catchy and everyone thinks I’m depressed sometimes because of it when I’m just vibing lol.

Unfortunately no. We can always ask a server to take over a table if it’s too much or get a manager but I rather go for the first even if I rarely do it since at least they do something about it. The manager either says I’m right but to basically let the customer win or rarely actually more confronts them and stand there ground. I would love to kick people out but I’m sure that’s against the rules for my job but I have to check that.

In all honesty unless you want to be the manager angry, get people against you instead of leaving you alone or even get fired you really can’t. Yeah it sucks and it’s sad they don’t realize I ask for way less help from them but honestly I rather still have a job. I mean one of my co workers hit fired for yelling at our main boss about them telling her she can leave at a certain time but still kept her on even when she said she couldn’t. So yeah it won’t be good for me if I do. I have to play the role of the sickly sweet I need to tell you something but in a way that strokes your ego kinda tone. The manager who yelled is always about rules and how everything is supposed to be when honestly no one follows them half the time. She can be too strict sometimes.

There are more but one of them actually wasn’t about me. One of my coworkers was talking to someone about how if he actually had a son who said there were transgender he would disown them because the child should accept who they are and he has a son not a daughter and I was shocked. And yes he is known for joking but even this I know he wasn’t joking and even if he was that would be disgusting to joke about. As much as I was surprised he said that honestly it shouldn’t have. He is a dead beat dad and talks shit about his baby mama so yeah he’s not good news. And he’s in his early twenties I believe you think he be more accepting.

Since i couldn't get the games, I always watched Markiplier play the new games and occasional lore video. However, that was the extent and stopped paying attention after sister location. It might sound odd, but hear me out! I had a dream that...

Y'all aren't going to believe the dream I had last night. For some context, it was set in the world of Tears of the Kingdom, so it felt like I was living in that world, but also Miles Morales from Into the Spiderverse was there.

It started off pretty tame. I was going about Hyrule killing monsters with my bow just like Link. At one point I had to help a guy (I knew him in the dream, but I couldn't tell you what his name was) who was getting surrounded by chuchus and bokoblins. I stood on a cliff overlooking the area and sniped all the fire chuchus first then anything that got near him. He was very thankful lol.

Then there was another scene where me and this guy were sleeping, my mom was also there for some reason. The issue with sleeping was that there were a bunch of spider-monsters attacking us and there were time bombs everywhere. So I did the logical thing and pulled out a flameblade and slashed and hacked then quickly backed away before the bombs went off. We did this until all the spiders were dead and we could actually sleep.

This next part is wild and I can't for the life of me remember how we got into this situation. But we were in some type of clearing. There were tall trees all around us, kinda boxing us into this clearing. And there was also a dragon. Yes, like the Breath of the Wild dragons. And it was being controlled by a young woman that stood on it's shoulder. And the dragon spun spider webs that trapped anyone that got near. My mother gets trapped in said webs while the young woman soliloquy's about how she's too powerful and we can't even hope to beat her, we're all gonna die, blah blah blah.

So the obvious solution to this problem is to sing. There was a song that my mother thought would tame the beast, but it didn't work. So I took up the song, but changed the tempo and melody a little and it worked. The dragon shrunk and laid down at my feet, tummy up in submission, and the young woman was thwarted and disappeared. (In hindsight she was probably Yiga). The dragon was now bound to me and would do whatever I commanded. So obviously I should use the dragon to defeat any foe in my path. but unfortunately my subconscious doesn't believe in continuity and I never saw that dragon again.

If you know anything about Breath of the Wild lore, you know there are three dragons. It was our mission (apparently) to tame all three somehow. So we went to go tame the second dragon and were woefully unprepared. (If only I had a dragon to fight with.) This dragon was controlled by a small boy who was altogether too crazy. Things got bad. Then I hear "What's up danger?" and look up to see something truly crazy.

Miles Morales with the third dragon (specifically called the Face Dragon for some reason), but Miles was floating in the air and also floating around him in a circle were a bunch of other spiderpeople. I took this all in and heard "What's up danger?" once more before he landed on the ground and was like "Hey mom what's up?" (Idk who his mother was supposed to be since both me and my mother are white irl, but it's whatever). He decimates the little boy and the dragon and the day is saved. Then we tell him we found more pieces of the Face Dragon(????) and he's like Oh sweet hand them over, and he puts them on like jewelry(idk dude they were small pieces I guess).

That was the pretty much the plot (if you could call it a plot) of my dream, but I do remember one other part where I was trying to get to a tower but it was absolutely INFESTED with monsters. I had to climb the outside of it because there were too many surrounding it on the ground. Once I made it to the top and dropped inside There Were More Monsters. I had to kill all of them before I could activate the tower and I was PISSED cause the towers are supposed to be SAFE like What The Fuck.

TL;DR: Miles Morales tamed a Breath of the Wild dragon and wore pieces of it as jewelry and was also related to two white women somehow.

hello hi tell me about your writing process ! and i mean literally any part of it, literally any Thing, i'm just kind of curious because i really love what you write and my wips generally stay unfinished no matter how much i like the idea so i'm also kinda just curious how you manage to Get It Done yk?

Hi! Yes! I'm feeling a little better now, still kinda sick, but so it goes. And that's so sweet of you! I'm glad you like my writing!

Writing Process? Oh boy, this is gonna be so disappointing. Most of the stories I've written come to me at random moments and over the course of a few days I'll make up this weird elaborate plot in my head until I get to the point where I'm like 'ok, this need to be a fic'.

I usually use two documents while writing something. I've got a layout (that's where I pull the crazy planning posts from) and the actual story(where I get the out-of-context stuff). I write down everything I want to happen in the layout document and add as much to it as I see fit (this can include really anything from specific conversations I want to really generic plot points) as well as block out chapters and after I'm finished with that, it usually just looks like a weirdly formatted poem or something. I never use spellcheck or anything on that either and I use such casual language, so it always looks like something I wrote while blackout drunk, but I love it nonetheless. Here's the first chapter of "Mike Wheeler's Ultimate Guide to the Undead"'s outline for example:

As you can see, it's a mess, but I love it. And somehow I got the first chapter out of this.

The point of that is pretty much it's an outline, but it's also kind of fun since it's so casual, so I've found it helps to motivate me to write new parts of the story bc I'm engaged by the strange wording I use on the outline. I also use this doc for title planning and other stuff I have to figure out beforehand. For example, I wrote the poem in Shady Business on an outline doc.

I then transfer this over to the story doc in an actual storytelling format. Most of my writing comes out of absolutely nowhere and idk what to say about it. I'll word-vomit for about ten minutes and get a page, look at it, and go 'oh hey, why isn't that horrible?'. I'm also super conversational in my writing, which helps it flow better. I always thought that made my writing hard to read, but a lot of people have actually said they like my writing style so I guess it's not that bad! I just treat it as if I'm telling the story over a cup of coffee. As for representing the character well (because they are real characters), I just try to get into their mindset as much as possible. I don't really have any specific way I do that, though. I recently had to create a fake "Am I the Asshole" post for Mike so I could try to understand his feelings on something better within myself (made it on the outline doc!).

After the initial word vomit of a chapter, I'll go back and read it over, adding or taking away what I see fit and fixing initial spelling mistakes and making sure it reads well. I don't have a beta reader (I wish I did), so I've gotta just assume it's readable and go with it. After the initial fixes, I'll read it over again just to make sure. I only fix all the spelling mistakes by the time I go to publish because I use Grammarly on the Ao3 post thing lol. By that point, it's only like 4 mistakes left anyway (and the stuff Grammarly says is incorrect but I don't care bc it sounds good and I can do what I want).

I also highlight my little outline as I go (usually in green bc byler brainrot, you can see it in the image) and it helps me visualize my progress and keep going!

But, yeah. That's pretty much the entire process and I have no better explanation than it's simply a dumpster fire of improv and weird pieces of moment I have glued together in my brain. It's arts and crafts, at the best, but somehow I pull it together and create a story!

As for motivation, most of it's four things. One, the anticipation of writing scenes I really want to. Two, telling myself I'm gonna get fun comments and reading old comments (I thrive off of positive feedback from poeple). Three, a specialized playlist for the fic. I make playlists for my stories with songs I like that fit the overall vibe and sometimes I get inspiration from them and it gives me new ideas. And four, probably the most important, I just really like writing. It's my favorite things ever to just put words on a page and make a story out of it. It's so fun and so cool and so magical and I love it.

And that's about it. The end. That's my writing process. It doesn't really make much sense, but I guess it works, so it works for me! If you're looking to improve your own completion rate, I mean, maybe try some of it, but it's really a personal preference. You've gotta do tril and error. And I've really gotta work on slowing down anyway because I can totally rush writing a fic and end up making it a lot less than it could have been if I took more time. And If you're not feeling motivated to write, don't force it. Seriously. Things like I suggested totally help me keep up with it, but what I hate more than anything is stuff I wrote when I didn't want to write. It's just... uninspired.

So I like to save my Picrew creations for the hell of it in case I want to make actual characters from them, and I’m trying to decide if I want to make these ones a thing or not because of all the excessive story they come with, but hey. (Also I’m really tired, but I’m waiting for my laundry to be done, so this ramble might not make any sense.) I’m not saying these characters will totally 100% be Redactedverse characters, but in this context I was kinda thinking that for them //wheeze

SO, sometimes when I make picrews I also like to make siblings for the hell of it! So I’ll take two unrelated ones and just dub them as relatives.

Here’s my first gal, which in this case would be a “Listener” (whereas all the others are just NPCs related to her side plot directly):

I’m not really sure who exactly she would be the listener of but I love her!! I thought about making her Guy’s Honey, but I’m not entirely sure yet. I’m not super fond of Guy, but my fanonverse exists and I’ve already rewritten David, Angel, Sam, and Darlin’ entirely, so I can rewrite these two for sure. But anyways! This character is really sweet and cute and kind of accident prone, maybe finding an explanation for why they get injured/bleed a lot, and are usually covered in bandages, just because I like the bandaged look I guess, lol.

But thennnnn we have her brother:

Who I already planned to be in a cult, but in this case, I’m assuming he’d join Closeknit in this specific universe. Which could be a really weird but really fun side-story for me to explore, whether the girl above is a secret (to Guy) empowered or not. I’ve never seen anyone talk about potential Plot for Guy’s listener I don’t think, so I feel like I don’t have a great jumping off point for that, lol. I wonder how he could be involved in all this too. (I mean I could also make her a different listener.)

And then we have the lovely and adorable:

Baby sis!! She looks sassy like Lilia, and I just think Listener Girl is the only one that didn’t inherit her dad’s attitude, lol. She’d have the same injury problem, and idk if the bro would. I’m not too sure how big of a role she’d play, since I’d kinda have to iron out all the other specifics in order to determine that, but still.

Daddy, who is single but dating-ish. Idk why I saw this one and just went “oh my god it’s the dad for these kids” but I did, so here we are. He’s very stern and business-like, but he’s actually very loving towards his children, even his shit son. I have a type-

same age or older i feel. equal split of who’s the embracer in the relationship though 

wouldn’t mind a taller person, although he’d prefer if you were around the same height bc he doesn’t want to be teased by his members lol

i feel like haechan would rlly like y2k outfits on his s/o? a mix of baggy outfits as well as cute ones

his natural outgoing personality allows him to get together with a foreign person i feel, bc he’d suggest things that don’t need talking like bowling or an arcade y’know? he struggles a bit with native languages tho, bc he’s so used to speaking korean

he also would love tall people ngl! although sometimes he can’t decide between short and tall people

they don’t necessarily need to return the energetic bursts of aegyo or stuff (he’d love it though) and also someone who just enjoys life and the small little things in general

yang yang is also someone who doesn’t care if you’re short or tall, and likes you either way :)

does not mind a foreign person, plus he’s moved countries a little and could maybe find solace in the fact that his homes are sometimes not fixed, esp with how many languages he speaks as well

yang yang would want an s/o who lives up to his excitement in jokes and memes. he would feel a bit down if you happen to not understand a joke although he cant blame you, but he would want someone almost identical to him?

can see him liking a cute style tbh, and also reaaaaally likes to match outfits with you in your own respective styles

i think being in nct has made him a little shy as compared to before when he was in a dance crew, so he’d need someone to encourage him while also taking care of him!!

talking to a non japanese- or korean- speaking person might scare him, so he would settle just for that. shotaro wouldn’t mind in a sense if he knows the other person is committed, but the language barrier for the first few dates would be awkward

ooohhh likes it when people are confident definitely, comfortable in their own skin. shotaro is another person i feel would really be attracted to y2k fits

like i said earlier, shotaro just needs a little push, which would help with an outgoing s/o and someone who’s not afraid to try new things. he feeds off your confidence and uses that to boost his!

CHENLE

doesn’t mind an s/o who is the same age or a tad bit older, i’m not sure if i see him with a younger s/o

doesn’t care if you’re tall or short as long as you give him his damn hugs!!!! 

outgoing personality? check. he would literally befriend anyone, and wouldn’t mind a foreign s/o who doesn’t speak korean or chinese. with his limited english, he could probably make an outing fun by doing activities together and will learn your language!!

an s/o who can calm him down. chenle uses up his energy a lot and can get worn out and just wants someone to embrace at the end of the day. i wouldn’t say its similar to taeyong who’s sometimes tired from taking care of the members, but rather in a way where it’s a little playful and bubbly in your own little circle.

it’s a different kind of happy that chenle feels with you as opposed to the joy that the members bring him.

chenle also would want someone who’s sure of themselves, more so in personality rather than apperance. he likes all sizes and colours and styles, altho leans more toward the oversized sector

SUNGCHAN

sungchan is bit mischievous, so i feel like he naturally lean towards an s/o who can kinda be the “mother slash partner” of him: either the same age or younger, leaning more toward a same aged s/o

lawd this man is so tall. i think he’d want a shorter partner, sometimes a bit awkward with the affection but overall likes to give it. plus point: he likes to see you struggle wrap your body around his to get all of him in your cuddles

he wants to be able to relate to them and wouldn’t want awkwardness, so i don’t think he would go for a foreign person as of now

sungchan likes someone to have fun with him, ofc he’s aware that he can’t take away all their problems but he would want his s/o to feel relaxed and content around him with his goofy personality

sungchan likes a cutesy style, maybe, BUT i always see him being really drawn to y2k fits!!!

JISUNG

leaning more towards the same age (+/-1). i think a noona would make him shy and a younger s/o would just feel weird to him idk. 

this man is also very tall, so probs a shorter s/o,,,,, would not mind if you are tall though!! he just likes to have you in his arms instead of the other way round (so you can’t see his flushed face)

not sure if he’d commit to a r/s that is foreign, but he would try with the help of mark-hyung or something. the reason why he’d take it was because the members would help me, but if not, he wouldn’t take the risk with his idol life at stake.

jisung wants someone who’s self-assured as well, strong in mettle and who has a strong character that helps him build up his drive. seeing you in your element helps him achieve more and he appreciates that you are able to provide him with a source of motivation

jisung likes cute stuff, but he does like oversized fits!
