Rotating the monster alt au in my head again sorry guys- /lh
What if like. There are actual monster hunters out there, like how the BPS takes reports on alternates/ghosts, but they take jobs about werewolves and other monsters like that
So Seth has to make sure none of them find either him or Cesar (or even Adam to an extent) cause. The hunters know how to kill them.

Kitten: Theory of a "Hunter"
Spoilers for Hunter The Parenting
So Kitten. He is our happy lil Br*tish hunter. He also is always wearing ski goggles, a sweater, and full face covering. Even in the one flashback image we have of him. As always we must acknowledge the DNA this series pulls from: Kitten was the Captain General in TTS, this is why he uses a spear with a gun and a stake at the end in HTP, it's a guardian spear by way of hunter. It was a running gag in TTS that his helmet was never removed, even all of his other garments were. Side tangent, 1. WHAT WAS SHE THINKING 2. I hope desperately Lockwarden and Santodes return in HTP, because both of those characters were immaculate and we didn't get enough of them. Side tangent complete.
TTS acknowledgement aside, let us consider what Kitten might be. In the audiolog between Kitten and Big D, kitten seems to question the existence of some supernatural creatures, like the witch. Yet two of them he is unphased by them being mentioned: The vampires, which makes sense as the family is hunting vamps and Kitten has fought a vamp (important later). And the werewolves. This is the sticking point to me: Kitten not only is unphased about the existence of werewolves, he in fact says "wait hang on you know about werewolves" to Big D. Now that's a might curious, why wouldn't Big D, master-hunter and well known supernaturalist know about werewolves, and even more so, why would Kitten know and Big D not?
My theory is that Kitten IS a were creature. But not a wolf. In World of Darkness there are a few species of shapechangers like the werewolves. The wolves are the most common, but the other kinds know of each other's existence as well. I propose that Kitten is a werecat. Not only this, I suspect Kitten is a specific kind of werecat, a metis (can someone who knows more about WoD tell me is this is pronounced Met-iss, a made up word, or May-tea, a real word for a real world group of people who this does not necessarily apply to). A metis (in world of darkness, not the real world ethno-cultural group) is a shapechanger born to two shapechanger parents. When they are born they come out in their warform, the half-human-half-animal "hollywood monster" form. These shapechangers often have malformations of some variety, and this can include very obvious animal features even in human form. Say for example, cat ears and fur. I think Kitten wears his ski stuff, and has ears on his hood because he is a lil catboy under that hood. As a werecat he would be familiar with the shapechanger culture and practices, he'd know about other shapechangers (notice in the black shuck story at one point he says "and it is [black shuck]" not "and it PROBABLY is", maybe because he actually knows who black shuck is?), and he'd be supernaturally strong. Perhaps even strong enough to overcome a vampire that just fed. Kitten describes his encounter with the vamp at college, with maybe a Ventrue or Torreador vamp (I think Ventrue because he was charismatic but had a need for a violent feeding), while these clans aren't the normal muscle for the vamps, they are stronger than humans. Yet Kitten managed to beat this vampire, even though he was hopped up on blood. I think our lil cat boy was using his own supernatural strength. Another thing mentioned around this story is the tragedy that befell Kitten's parents, which left him with the house. If they are shapechangers, there is the potential that Kitten killed them during his first change, a not uncommon occurence in Garou families. There's also the possibility that his parents were killed in the war that all Garou are fighting, or because they broke the litany (werewolf mascarade) by having a metis child.
Now. Problems. Both Grimal and Markus have cannonically "broken that boy". Now is Kitten a "sorry babe, the ski mask stays ON during sex" type gamer? Or do Grimal and Markus both know? Not sure! Grimal could probably be convinced he was just REALLY into cosplay, I bet. And Markus may have known about Kitten being a cat from their childhood, depending when they first met.
But! This lets me talk more about garou society as evidence for Kitten being a cat. In shapechanger society, a metis is often hidden from the public until they can control their form, so as to not give the game away on werewolves being real. Maybe Kitten was isolated as a child, making it harder for him to interact with other kids when he did eventually get his form *more* under control. Maybe in the time before he was allowed in public, he became a true gamer. Maybe Markus was one of the few kids weird enough to hang out with him. Maybe those lack of social skills brought him closer to Grimal when they first met, two strange weirdos with similar experiences (please Alfabusa don't make Grimal the ghoul, I don't want her to get Arcanum'd)
Also! The werecats have some characteristics in their culture that might explain why our lil cat friend isn't just vibing with the other werecats. Some of the Bastet (Bastet means werecat, Keikaku means plan) are VERY curious lil fellas. They seek out hidden knowledge and talk to other garou clans to learn their secrets all the time. Maybe Kitten became a hunter because of his in-built desire to be a gatherer of lore. This would also explain how he knows all these stories, and finds secrets in games. He just HAS to know these things. This would further explain why he is SO upset about being blacklisted, he wants desperately to be able to study and learn, but has been cut off.
In brief, I believe Kitten is a werecat and his lil sweater ears are not just a fetish thing. He joined the arcanum/our hunters because it's a great way to sate his innate curiosity.
Now something to consider, as many of us know, curiosity does have a certain reputation regarding cats...

LOSER'S BRACKET ROUND 2! MATCH 1 OUT OF 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Little Red Riding Hooded Mercenary
General Propaganda:
come on just look at her shes so fucking cool
SHES SOOOOOOOO FUCKING COOOOLL ok so like. Lobotomy Corporation takes place in an SCP type facility where a bunch of abnormalities are living. She is one of them. She is a mostly undying humanoid creature that lives for the sole sake of hunting down the Big And Will Be Bad Wolf. She lives in your facility and will BREAK OUT of her containment if she feels that the wolf is near (or if too many people are dying). You can also hire her to assist you in taking down other abnormalities, and she's actually super good at it. And her outfit is just so sooo sick? She's so cool. Please play Lobotomy Corporation it goes on sale for like $7 every Steam Sale
She's red riding hood if red riding hood had a gun. Also she kisses women
Monster based on human subconscious aka an Abnormality based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood (duh). In this story, she was mauled by the wolf (Big And Might Be Bad Wolf) who is based on all fairy tale wolf villains. Little Red then got to work plotting her revenge and making Bloodborne-esque gear for herself and the two Abnos are locked in eternal combat of hatred for one another
She's literally the coolest, just look at her. For people who might not be so familiar with her: She's one of the abnormalities that remain locked in the Lobotomy Corporation. Her past is somewhat unclear, but she has some horrid scars on her face due to the Big Bad Wolf and she swore vengeance upon him because of that incident. This lead her to become a mercenary and she looks 1000% scarier and more badass than the wolf lol. Also, asides from the fact that she may kill half of your team if she escapes containment, she is quite chill and will even help you take care of your problems if you pay her.
little red riding hood but consumed by vengeance to the point of becoming an anomalous creature hellbent on completing her eternal battle with the wolf. intense desire for revenge. baller as fuck design. will help you kill other escaping abnormalities but you gotta pay her to do it. gets pissed off every time someone escapes containment except for that one annoying bird for absolutely no discernible reason. if you let her kill the wolf she gives you bonuses but if someone else kills the wolf she goes fucking bananas. truly an inspired feral creature of a woman.
Go girl!!! We love your unrestrained violence!
She is literally the absolute coolest!!! I mean, just look at her design! Everything about it screams fucking cool! Not to mention that her story has themes of vengeance, rage, and grief!!! And Lobotomy corporation is just the fucking best and soooooo underrated.
She's starting to fall behind so GO ON AND VOTE MERC WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR! (and buy Lobotomy Corp on steam it's not even that expensive!)
Vote for Riding Hooded Mercenary she's an Abnormality serving as a hired merc that means shes a hunter of her own kind and she WILL chase them to the ends of earth lest she dies herself or knows that damn Wolf is nearby. The cursor for sending hits on something is a wanted poster. She's WAW-classed too, a step below the most dangerous category for her ilk. she shares the class with things such as insane-ass magical girls, an eyeless flower horse turns people into wisteria gardens, fucked up and evil Little Prince, a bird judge that hangs its victims, the now-animate poisoned apple that killed Snow White, and of course the Wolf itself.
Loser's Bracket Propaganda:
little red wouldve gone so so hard if she wasnt against ylfa immediately… victory for our mercenary gal.
Riding Hooded Merc is a bonafide baddie & professional
She;s so fucking cool. almost got murdered by the wolf (also in lobcorp by the way) and she wants revenge so bad. cool as hell mercenary. also just look at her come on
I feel that they all deserve a bit more recognition as just about every Little Red Riding Hood is remembered for their story, but not their character. And I believe that the few I selected are truly well rounded characters, and amazing takes on who the character is.
the Lobotomy Corp one I know nothing about but who has a sick design (I also want the fans of this one to have a win because I liked watching the first round because of them)
Ruby Rose
General Propaganda:
She has a scythe that is also a high-impact sniper rifle.
She is literally just based on Red Riding Hood and she's such an amazing character holy heck
Red Riding Hood but with a gun. (Specifically a combination scythe/high-impact sniper rifle called Crescent Rose). Also she's gone through so much she deserves it. She's trying to save the world and keep going despite all the people she's lost. Grew up dreaming of being a hero who fights monsters. She knows life isn't a fairy tale and wants to make it better. Just went through a mental health arc where she had depression from trying to live up to her (presumed dead) mom and from her friend dying for the second time. Killed the Big Bad Wolf with her magic eye powers. Her sister is Goldilocks and her friends are Beauty and Snow White. also I love her <3
She’s the little red riding hood but also a powerful fighter with a massive fucking scythe that is also a sniper rifle and she’s so skrunkly and so gender. Also RWBY’s whole thing (well one of them) is that their characters are all inspired by pre-existing ones from older stories and Ruby’s the main character so like, poster child of ‘character based off [insert relevant fairytale here]’ so I think she deserves to at least get pretty far
Aesthetics, themes, meta, personality and raw coolness.
She is the main character of her show. The most common monster they fight is a type of wolf (its been a while since ive seen it). Her job is to hunt them down before they can eat her. this story is very much about failed fairy tales, many of the side character's inspired arcs end in failure, but (having not seen the most recent bits) Ruby is still going strong, and i really like her cape, rose petals, and use of a scythe.
She is THE RRH character of all time. She has a scythe that's also a gun and she has to be the hero because she's got super rare main character powers. She is my happy girl. Also her mom was Sleeping Beauty and her sister is Goldilocks, and she fights to stop Rapunzel from destroying everything on the world, the gods, and then herself.
Ruby as a character is literally based on little red riding hood! She has a red cape with a hood
the Red trailer is better propaganda than I could ever write
She is a badass with a scythe, inspired by her uncle and fueled by her mother's death and her sense of righteousness
She has a giant scythe
Loser's Bracket Propaganda:
ruby rose makes me go :D so i picked her here <3 hope this helps
luv them
Ruby Rose is my blorbo in law and I need her in because of that

what's Monster Hunter gameplay like? I've seen a lot of cool designs I'm interested in but I know nothing about the actual game
It's basically a game where everything is a final boss :3
You are a hunter and get tasked with taking down monsters that increase in size and danger as you progress. The fights themselves are very straightforward, you grab one of the 14 weapon types (each with their own type of gameplay so there's something for everyone) and just attack until its dead. MH is different from other similar games in that its slightly more "realistic" since you can't see the monsters health bar and you just have to play it by ear and learn to recognise when its limping away or when it gets Real Mad. You also have to sharpen your weapon as it dulls over time.
Hunts also don't last more then 50 minutes tops, thats the uppermost time limit, so hunts cant be huge timesinks
When you defeat the monsters you acquire parts from them (scales, plates, horns, etc) with which to craft sick armor and weapons to be able to take down badder monsters
The maps are also pretty big and theres more things to do than hunt depending on the game, like killing smaller monsters or going around gathering stuff like minerals and herbs and the like. And in monster hunter world you can collect animals for your house :3
There isnt a lot of story for it and it certainly doesnt happen during fights so you can look up any monster you like on youtube and watch someone fight it and see if it's something you vibe with

Teen Wolf 1x12
Ah, yes, Chris honking at Scott instead of aiming a weapon at him is totally in character. We shall honk to warn this creature off, despite the fact that we’ve been stalking him for eleven episodes.
Lol, Peter just walks off like Stiles will do exactly as he’s told. Please don’t have Stiles do exactly as he’s told. Have him text Jackson and Danny to track down Scott’s cell and then tell Scott about it.
See? The woods are like two steps away from the school and it would have been a lot harder for the police and Argent’s to track Derek in the woods than on the streets in that one episode.
Allison’s reaction after Scott runs is approximately forty seconds long, some slow motion, mostly in close up with one long shot.
Scott’s reaction is approximately forty seconds long, some slow motion, mostly in long shot with one close up that almost immediately dollies back to a long shot.
And the one close up is on the scream instead of the sobbing.
Why do they keep making these choices to de-emphasize Scott’s pain/anguish/trauma? Like, it’s weird, right? It’s not just me?
Like, from the beginning they’ve been telling this story about how being treated like a monster doesn’t make you one. Pretty much every character, with the exceptions of Allison, Melissa, and Deaton have treated Scott like a monster, a pawn, a tool, a thing to be used. Some to more extent than others, but even Stiles has treated Scott like that on several occasions.
And the story seems to be trying to show us at every turn how Scott refuses to be used. Refuses at every turn to cast aside his humanity and descend into a mindless, angry thing that the Hales want him to be and the Argents expect him to be. The storyline, the dialogue, the acting all support this. But half the time the shots don’t, and it’s driving me nuts, honestly.
Does Jackson actually care about Lydia now too? My headcanon where he got empathic bleed from Scott is holding up, I see.
Oh. Menstruation jokes about a teenage girl from a grown man is definitely not gross and creepy and demeaning. I guess that’s one characterization they haven’t screwed up yet.
Okay, so, 1) it’s interesting that Chris recognized what Kate was doing but didn’t stop it, 2) it’s interesting that Kate was the one to volunteer to come instead of Chris bringing her in like I thought, and 3) Chris, buddy. You fucking chose to try to run Scott over and have him turn in front of your daughter, Kate wasn’t even there. Take ownership of your own fucking actions, my dude.
Lol, Kate, you’re usually a better liar than that. ALSO, I still haven’t heard how the school janitor was connected so until we do he’s an innocent victim.
And now we also know that Kate’s actions with the fire either weren’t sanctioned by Chris - most likely - or weren’t sanctioned within the hunting community at all. I’m still trying to figure out the hierarchy of the hunters, and how big the family/network is.
Now that Allison is in the know maybe we’ll learn more, but even with two born werewolves we’ve learned shit about that culture so I’m not holding my breath.
It makes no sense that he’s sending Kate with Allison unless he just wants Kate out of the way. Mrs. Argent would seem like a better choice in several respects, not the least of which she hasn’t been going behind Chris’ back with Allison already. Also, bro, Kate ain’t exactly the comforting type and your kid needs comfort right now.
Okay, so her mother clearly isn’t the comforting type either. Are we saying that Allison get her compassion from Chris? Oh boy.
They keep mentioning the ‘moral code’ they have, but not giving us details. I mean, it’s apparent that Kate doesn’t follow it, and clearly others are willing to bend it. But even the “good” ones like Chris still try to rile up werewolves into going past a specific line in the sand.
Hunters are just a bunch of cops, huh? No accountability, protect their own over anyone else, instigate werewolves to violence so that they can feel justified in killing them.
So I guess he did steal Jennifer’s car. Still doesn’t make sense how he and Derek got to the school before Stiles when they presumably left at least ten minutes after him, but whatever. Also, did Derek kill the nurse when he hit her in the face? There was definitely a lot of blood. And this now makes (at least) two people not associated with the fire that got murdered.
Scott going to the vet is a good fucking call and he should have done it sooner. He should, perhaps, actually call Deaton though because he’s like the only one who’s been both compassionate enough and capable enough to help you.
So, like, Allison doesn’t know who to believe, and I get that. Her family says they love her, but they’ve been lying to her. Scott says he loves her but he’s been lying to her. It’s hard to figure out who to trust.
Out of curiosity, though. How is Scott able to get past the Mountain Ash? Is it just because he’s got a key to the back, and never goes out the front? Did it only get added after Deaton was kidnapped by Derek or maybe it only works on Alphas? So many questions!
Hey, look, we actually got close up on Scott’s grief that actually lasted about the same amount of time as someone else’s! It can be done!
Well, I see the family resemblance between Derek and Peter now.
Oh. Hey. A cop being shitty? Weird. Like, fuck, dude, Jackson’s a goddamn asshole, but a) you don’t know anything about that, b) he’s a fucking minor, and c) you have no idea what the fuck happened or how traumatized he might have been. And, like, none of the other cops with him are pulling him back? Jesus Christ.
Aside from how it makes sense cause cops are just generally shitty, why the fuck would he act like that about two kids we’ve never really seen him interact with? Either he’s got something against Jackson or he’s weirdly protective over Lydia and both of those options creep me out a little.
No, no, don’t bother apologizing to the kid you manhandled for no reason.
“Only the responsible ones,” Peter says, ignoring the dead body literally underneath where Stiles is typing. And the janitor. Can’t forget that guy.
Stiles trying to protect Scott is nice, if futile.
Scott gets his terrible security protocols from his mother. But at least his was passively bad, while hers was actively bad. I still can’t believe she just let Jackson use her computer like that.
Also, his is not, you know, illegal criminally or civilly with criminal consequences that could include termination, up to $50,000 in fines, and a prison sentence.
I’m sorry, but did this fucking show give us a guy who not only knows about werewolves but feels totally secure standing up to one and subsequently getting the werewolf to stand down, which our main character witnessed, and then not have the main character, like, go to him for help? Just have him go there for refuge?
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND, GIVE ME DEATON.
Oh, hey. Scott howling again. I hope this time works better than last time. I can kind of understand why this was not his first choice of things to try given his previous experience.
But, uh, are you telling me Peter didn’t hear that and won’t also come running? Or that Peter didn’t think to try that instead of the whole phone thing? Or, like, now that apparently Derek is his beta, Peter can’t track him that way like he’s basically done to Scott during this whole show?
I feel like the phone thing was put in there specifically as a way to make Stiles useful. Especially since we haven’t seen this skill set from him before.
FYI, that longitude/latitude puts you in Antarctica.
Lol, so we specifically made a comment about how the service might not work in a parking garage and popped out the mifi, but we’re totally able to bypass that same issue to get the gps coordinates from a phone that’s underground. Sure, Jan.
Okay, so at least Peter did hear the howl. And you know what? I’ll accept that Scott outsmarted him because he’s done it several times already. The weird part is that you’d think Peter would be the one more in touch with the werewolf instinct and Scott would be the one more apt to use technology, but we’re getting the reverse.
If I had any faith in these folks, I’d have to wonder if that was on purpose. Like, has modern werewolf culture lost itself to the violence and lost all connection to its proto culture? Not all werewolf myths cast them as monstrous and bad, particularly Irish and Scottish folklore have them as helpful protectors. Scott McCall.
Ummm, why is Allison at the hospital? Did she hear Jackson’s voicemail and insist on coming? Did Kate just dump her somewhere and then she heard what happened to Lydia?
I actually really like the super quick flashes of the bloody room and Lydia writhing. That was very effective.
Okay, so Kate’s using this to manipulate Allison some more. Gotcha. Chris, you’re dumb for letting her be under Kate’s influence some more.
Stiles, why would you even ask that?
Oh. Okay. So we’re good with biting people of color and women and turning them without asking, but you’re gonna ask the white kid if he wants it. Why do I, once again, feel like that’s social commentary that they didn’t actually intend to make, but is so spot on it’s painful?
Also, is this the first episode where they’ve explained that the bite doesn’t always take, and that it’s not due to the intent of the one biting, but the biology (?) of the one being bitten?
That still doesn’t explain why Peter didn’t bite more people when Scott balked. Peter clearly doesn’t mind sacrificing people when convenient.
Peter is really much better at manipulation than Derek was. He and Kate are cut from the same cloth.
Part of me thinks that Stiles was lying because we’ve seen him be envious of Scott. The other part of me knows that Peter’s a lying liar who lies and no one should ever trust him.
The stark fucking difference between how the Sheriff treated Jackson versus how he’s treating Stiles.
I feel like that phone battery would have died by now. I have zero memory of how good phone batteries were 13 years ago though.
Wait, did this fucking bozo not hear Derek roaring? Dumbass.
Why does the lighting on the walls of this place always look like the light is reflecting off water but there’s no sound of water when they walk. I noticed it in the last episode too. Very distracting.
Why the fuck did Stiles bring up Derek? First of all, he knows his dad knows that because he got his dad drunk and his dad told him he knows that. Second, unless he’s planning on confessing everything and getting the police to roll up to Derek’s place, then saying that right now is incredibly dumb.
Holy shit! They did it to someone other than Scott this time! Made him look dumb so that someone else could have a snappy comeback! Why is this thing that these writers do? I mean, other than them being bad at their jobs.
I honestly can’t remember, does Stiles know that Allison got the necklace from her aunt? Also, like, he doesn’t even describe it, but Stiles somehow puts it together, lol.
“You really want to talk about this right now?” Says the guy who has, of course, been super forthcoming with Scott about werewolves this whole time. Who literally didn’t just switch sides to help Peter in a way that left Scott traumatized and writhing half naked on a locker room floor. This guy who has totally never made Scott’s life actively worse or hurt him almost every single time they met.
Yeah, Fuckface, he wants to talk about this now and with good reason.
Derek’s practically his own movie theater with how much he’s projecting on all these kids.
Btw, I am taking this as confirmation that Derek had, in fact, switched sides and was not actually playing along to still try to stop Peter. Which means that he’s a trash fire of a human being who has currently done only two good things. Possibly ever.
Weren’t there just police all over the hospital? I feel like someone should maybe notice a group of armed men terrorizing two high school kids after what happened to Lydia.
Scott’s sad little, “Just say you’ll help and I’ll unlock your other…” is so funny because, like, even if Derek said it Scott was resigned to the fact that he wouldn’t be telling the truth, but would unlock him anyway.
Chris’ friend tried to kill him, huh? Was it because he was surrounded by people he knew wanted to kill him? Was it because he was hurt and in pain and just needed to learn how to control it? Like, I feel like there were other ways you could have handled that, Chris. If all you’ve got is a gun, every problem looks like a target, I guess.
I don’t buy that Kate and Allison got there before Peter. He’s there somewhere.
Why didn’t they shoot the flashbulb one first? It’s unnecessarily cruel, which is Kate’s M.O. but it still feels weird that Allison would go along with it.
Thank you, I guess for at least saying that Allison wasn’t willing to go along with killing. But, like, she knows Derek was being tortured. What did she think was going to happen if they did just capture Scott?
Lol. Okay, sure. Kate and Allison and Chris all got there before Peter.
“I did what I was told to do.”
Huh. I’m going to be real with you, I assumed that Kate would bust out with her warped views on why they need to die and that’s it’s a good thing and they’re just animals. I wasn’t expecting someone pulling her strings. I mean, I guess she could be lying, but why?
It makes way more sense that Chris is a naive idiot, honestly, than to think there wasn’t corruption in the hunters, they’re cops.
Lol, Chris, you fucking shot that same kid three months ago with no proof he’d spilled human blood. Bud, leg to stand on? You ain’t really got one.
Although good to know at least part of their code.
Wait, are these bullets even wolfsbane? Will normal bullets even kill werewolves? Derek was basically fisted through his chest and survived, so I guess I assumed they were more lethal than regular bullets.
We hunt those who hunt us. Well that’s definitely not the truth. Not if they were there the when Laura Hale died because she was the first victim and clearly a werewolf.
Peter did you have to succumb to the drama of the creaking door? Really? You couldn’t have just quietly launched yourself at Kate and dragged her off before anyone could get off a shot?
Also, where the fuck are Chris’ men who were at the hospital with them? Why did Chris not call for backup en route since apparently Stiles gave him the location. Sloppy work.
I understand that you’ve loved her your whole life Allison, but you just found out that she killed a bunch of innocent people including children and she almost killed the boy you said you loved right in front of you. I feel like running after her is the wrong choice.
Perhaps checking on your father or grabbing back the weapon you lost are better first choices.
You know what? I’m fine with that. Kate dying in that house by Peter’s hand works for me.
I am shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on here.
The shaky cam, the low light, and the fact that all three of them are wearing black leather jackets is not helping me figure out what’s happening in this fight.
Like, I don’t want to be reductionist and go for the simple metaphors, but for symmetry Scott should be in the red hoodie, Derek should only be wearing his light gray/dirty white shirt to show how he’s nominally fighting the good fight here even if he’s still not a good guy, and Peter should be in dark or colors indistinguishable from black.
Or they could have just used some more damn lighting, that’s an option too, I guess.
Well, I guess the cgi werewolf will theoretically make it a little easier to tell who’s who.
Hey, Stiles and Jackson. Good of you guys to show up. What kept you?
Wow, the practical effects for the Alpha are jarringly better than the cgi. Should’ve gone with as many practical effects as possible. Which is honestly so true for most things.
Oh. I guess they stopped by the chemistry room first. Lol.
Well. This is actually a very good strategy, Stiles. I can’t imagine anyone would react well to being lit on fire, but Peter’s going to react worse than most. Out of idle curiosity, why did you only make two?
I feel like, keep shooting is also an option here?
Look, Allison, girl. I get that you understandably believe Scott was telling the truth now, but, uh. If I were Scott I’d push you away until we could talk shit over because you totally let your aunt almost kill me in cold blood.
I get it’s a teen show, which means kissing instead of talking, but still. Not really appropriate after you watched your aunt get murdered and all y’all tried to burn a man to death.
“Because I love you,” is a bad answer.
How about because both you and my family lied to me and I didn’t know who to trust, so I trusted them because they’re my family and I’ve only known you for three months. But Kate showed that my trust in her was misplaced, and you showed that my trust in you wasn’t, and I’m sorry I almost got you killed.
Oh. Hey, Peter wasn’t all the way dead. We were all just letting him suffer and possibly heal up then? That’s a choice, I guess.
Now, big question time. Is Derek going to let Scott try to kill Peter to see if it will actually reverse the change or is he going to take his revenge for Peter killing Laura and screw Scott over forever?  Hmmm, based on almost all of Derek’s previous behavior, I’m stumped.
I wonder if the Argent’s knew about that possible cure. I wonder if a hunter getting turned and killing their Alpha is how they found out that it was a possibility in the first place. Or maybe a hunter started it as a rumor to try to get betas to kill their Alphas.
This just in, Derek Hale remains a garbage fire of a human being. This is my shocked face.
The Sheriff just out here touching evidence with his bare hands.
I love how in the episode where they specifically say that you either turn or die from the bite that immediately gets disproven. Hey, quick question: does anyone actually know anything about werewolves? Maybe that’s why we’re not getting any details. None of the writers fucking know anything either.
Ugh, Jackson’s back again. If Derek turns him, he’ll be the stupidest goddamn man alive. Which means he’s going to.
Any bets that Jackson being turned will somehow make him more scared than less?
Aaaand we’ve got more hunters coming. Is it like a tribunal because the Argent’s fucked up? Is it the person pulling Kate’s strings, who knows!
Okay, so, here’s the thing. The story structure is killing me here. Too much is happening after the climax. We didn’t need the Sheriff finding Kate, that should’ve been cut. It gave us no knew information and that storyline was wrapped up again with the newspaper article like 30 seconds later.
We didn’t actually need to find out about Lydia not being a werewolf and possibly being something else. There was already a cliffhanger about her, we didn’t need to resolve that cliffhanger only to immediately have a new one but with less tension.
This should have ended with just the Jackson & Derek scene to theoretically wrap up that storyline, and the Argent scene - which gave us new information - transitioning to Scott and Allison cuddling under the moon - which is the resolution.
Season One Thoughts
This is a story about not becoming a monster. Kate was monstrous because she was ‘just following orders.’ Peter and Derek and even Jackson to an extent were monstrous because they let their pain selfishly consume them and then took it out on everyone else. Chris is perhaps the least monstrous because while he clearly refused to see what was in front of him for years, when there was nothing else to see but the truth, he did step up. Scott is, of course, the monster who refused to be monstrous.
I think Scott is a refreshing character. He’s a lead of color in a teen show, which is incredibly rare. He’s a teenager who does dumb teenager things and makes mistakes, but tries so hard to do the right thing. He’s stubborn and kind, and those are shown as both strengths and weaknesses, which I like. He clearly takes after his mother a whole bunch, and they have a sweet relationship.
I thought Allison and Stiles were good, complex characters, but there were certainly some iffy fucking characterizations choices for Stiles at the beginning of the season and some iffy fucking mischaracterizations with Allison at the end.
And finally, with my whole chest, DEATON IS MY FAVORITE. I want to know literally everything about him and I hope so very much that he gets a chance to be the mentor that Scott deserves.

With the advent of the benchmark and the information that's given us in way of textures, models, and materials: This is going to be the final experiment with this specific body texture before Dawntrail. If I can help it I'm going to be directing my efforts to making a new texture entirely, hopefully one that's completely custom made.

Fullbody + Kinda shitty closeup under cut lol (also very scattered and chaotic exposition)

So why this design? Well the short answer is that Seiei is a monster/demon. Even in early drafts of her lore she fell to corruption and had her entire being changed irrevocably.
The long answer is given both the nature of her being, her past, and the area she lived in I wanted to try and draw upon specific themes she has when designing this more beastial form to get a more truly finalized picture of this character.
The biggest themes being Corvids, Emotions (namely rage), Tengu, and the final player that spurred the decision to add scales: Alatreon (yes, from monster hunter). Going in reverse order to explain starting with Alatreon; it was the final piece of the puzzle as every aspect of it fits Seiei nearly to a T with a short blurb of it stating: "Known as a symbol of destruction, people fear even uttering its name. It’s rumored to control all of the elements, but most, if not all, records of its existence have been burned." Going hand in hand with much of what is stated in this writing I posted a while ago. This on top of the fact that when fighting, Alatreon is inherently chaotic and easily enraged, much like Seiei.//
Given the area that Seiei is from—that being Doma—Tengu seemed to fit the bill as well. The decision to include this only reinforced by Swallows Compass.
There is significantly more to unpack here than with Alatreon as well as some still loose ends but the main reasons Tengu play into her design are because they are often depicted as yokai, sometimes even 'evil spirits.' In art and media they are portrayed very commonly with avian characteristics which ties into the whole Corvid thing. I could very well argue that the evolution from Corvids to Tengu is due to her corruption twisting that aspect of her into something monstrous. Oh and the big nose...
But more than that there, are a few stories that portray Tengu as legendary martialists that can employ extremely powerful and dangerous magics, which Seiei has in the form of her prior kenjutsu training and "black smoke". And yes, keeping with typical depictions, she does also have a feather fan, but I'm not sure I've really ever posted her with it.//
Emotions, specifically rage, was the baseline theming for her when I was drafting up her original lore (that needs heavy refinement now but I'll worry about that later). As one might guess this also hooks into 'Dynamis'. You see; Seiei was created shortly after I'd finished Endwalkers MSQ and the idea of "Dynamis" was still fresh in my head. Specifically it's observed ability to spiral out of control (much like real emotion) and create horrid abominations that the people of etheirys do not understand (Much like how rage causes people to do things they otherwise wouldn't with no sound logic behind it).
I'd never been invested in FF's magic system until this point either as it seemed very straight forward and bland to me even with astral and umbral alignments. But with the introduction of Dynamis as the sort of 'antithesis' to Aether I was locked in. My mind had interpreted it as a sort of matter vs anti-matter type of deal given that where one is abundant the other is near absent and they do not generally play well together, so naturally I wanted to try and explore that avenue more.
It was difficult trying to figure out how to get a character to reasonably function with Dynamis at first, especially with her lore being from pre-arr. However, if you know about "The Burn" and it's alleged lack of Aether, one needn't stretch very far to see how Dynamis could have affected Seiei. Or really any character from Othard. I'd love to do a real deep-dive into this at some point but for now you get my very scattered and very raw exposition.
As a sorta related aside, this was all thought up during a very difficult time in my life. So in a way this character started out as 'vent art' to release pent up emotion.//
Anyone who's been around a while knows Seiei's original last name was 'Warcrow'. When I'd made the character at first this had literally zero meaning outside of "I like bird :) " but as time went on I started to see where it could fit.
Without going into an insane amount of detail though because I'm sleepy: The crow motif is more closely tied to her adoptive father (The bunny man) who was exceptionally clever and tricky much like crows are. However, when he had passed our Seiei inherited much of what made him who he was and subsequently twisted it (cannot emphasis enough how much I love corruption). As a result for our Seiei, the meaning of crows is no longer relates to their intelligence or trickery but their more superstitious interpretations of approaching disaster and death. Also because I like the bird and it goes hand in hand with the Tengu thing lol.//

So, you saw your ending... Cool! Did you blink?
Danny Phantom x The Magnus Archives Crossover
Chapter 1
"Story of Daniel James Fenton" Allison wrote at the top of the page. The typewriter drummed in the near silence, the boy in the chair across from her gulped.
"You aren't with any institutions right? I don't want—"
"No." She assured, "I'm a StoryKeeper, not the Archivist."
"Okaaaay, I just want to make sure that—"
"No Hunters." She said, typing the line under the title. His eyes widened in confusion, then understanding, but he didn't ask.
"My parents are Hunters," He told her, whether by choice or because the compulsion had begun, it didn't matter. This StoryKeeper typed along. "Not great ones, but I think that's because of the prey, not because they're bad at hunting...
"They like ghosts, War-ghosts mostly, but they're not picky about it. As long as it's not completely tangible and used to be a living person it's good enough for them. The problem is that you can't really make a ghost feel fear, or, uh, a Hunter can't... not normally... but I'm getting ahead of myself.
"They never really gave themselves to it, to the Thing that Wants the Chase. So for a long time my sister and I just thought they were crazy. Then, when I was fourteen, they built this thing. They called it a portal, but it was really just this big electrical hazard tunnel in the basement. And I of course, waited until they'd left it alone and went to check it out..." He paused for a moment, pain suddenly lacing his face.
"I'm not telling you more about that." He snapped. Then spead through the next few words so this StoryKeeper had to focus on typing instead of the compulsion. "Not the details. I will tell you, it killed me, and I wasn't ready. So when there was a choice, I took it.
"My friends were there, they managed to revive me just before the ambulance got there..."
He hesitated again, fighting to keep the story in the direction he wanted it to go, she let him even if she wished he'd tell both tales.
"My parents blamed the ghosts. And that's how it really started. They started hunting a lot more, and war ghosts don't really run away much. They don't fear being hunted, but they do fear ending. So mom and dad do the same old same old, ghosts get scared of me, they give chase, the world has one less mindless killer and fast food is more satisfying on the way home. All fun and games, right? Well it has been, but ghosts stopped have being enough for either of us... they want to go find other monsters and they don't realize that I'm not the same thing as they are. These things already have bargains that I'm not supposed to interfere with... that I can't interfere with. And not all of them... not all of us are trying to be evil...
"They're supposed to be having these friends come over, to show us the ropes or something. I have this feeling that they're going to take one look at me and Know. So uh, that's why I'm here. I thought, maybe if The Thing that Sees has already seen me, that maybe it will let me be..."
He laughed suddenly. "But it's not like it matters is it. What's the worse that could happen? I die? Again?"

Yes, I did post this twice, I'm trying a little experiment. See, earlier I just posted the Ao3 link, and it has gotten very little traction... I think it's cause it was just a link and no hook. So I'm posting the first chapter and we'll see if that does better. Or it yall just prefer other crossovers. I'm curious!

The shows and franchises of Evelow
@darby-draws asked
I was recently thinking about some of my OCs being more fantasy nerdy vs scifi nerdy and it got me thinking about what type of genres and media your main OCs might like? for one, just in general scifi shows or horror movies or long fantasy books. But I was also thinking, with your own world its not as easy to say they the big obvious genre staples like LOTR or Star Trek for example... but does your world have similar Really Popular things like that.
Things like: Is there a really long running tv series thats had multiple iterations, like star trek that any of your OCs grew up with and have Big Opinions on? Fantasy epic multiple movies 3 hours each to tell the story? Would any of your OCs enjoy binging that over a long weekend for fun?
Thank you for the question !! I was going to make more faux posters of some shows that could exist in Evelow, but I'd rather just go ahead and talk about the topic. More could come in the future, we'll see. I'll also add in the character opinions. (sorry in advance if this gets long.)
So Evelow doesn't have the huge library of stories that we have. Mostly due to limitations, as Evelow's shows and movies are filmed in Evelow, and though it's a big civilization, it's not quite the same scope our present day world has. They'll have maybe one or two blockbusters a year, while most movies are indie or low budget. TV shows, however, are given more budget. Though there's not really enough on the screen for characters to be too picky in their genres, so I'll just present some vague ones.
Here are some popular shows/franchises:
Paranormal Paradise
Tumblr media
Brother and Sister duo are on a secret unit that deal with the unexplained or the paranormal, as the title suggests. Pair that with sunsets and synth wave music, and you have a show that's currently on their third season.
This one is fairly popular with Evelonians. Out of my ocs, Kat thinks it's fun and while she's "team Una" (the name of the sister character), she finds the monsters designs the best part of the show. Cora thinks she's ridiculous, as she's "definitely team Kotori" (the brother.)
Kat eventually gets Morgan into it, but Morgan isn't the least bit interested in the "fandom" aspects, like head canons or introducing more recurring characters.
The show isn't really considered nerdy, but it's a popular one.
Feast of Legacies
Tumblr media
This one is older in relevance to the current timeline, probably aired when my characters were kids and thus has more impact. (though probably not "age appropriate", kids still liked the fun outfits and action scenes) It was a dark fantasy show about a barbaric bounty hunter that was super campy and violent.
Future spin offs have since grew with the times or made things more serious, and those can be popular too. Ivar has even acted in one of the movies too, as a nod to his arena persona lol. Characters from the show come up a lot in halloween costumes and cosplays.
Morgan and Advik probably rewatch this one again as adults. "It still holds up, guys !"
I don't think space stories take up a lot of space (haha) in Evelow's culture, though there are some given that there are always going to be people fascinated by it, even if we don't know much !
They have a popular anthology show called "Planetary Politics" where each season involves a different planet and a story arc surrounding a different group of characters. The show can be experimental, with many seasons involving people in makeup and costumes, even a season fully animated (sorry they couldn't find any people who could successfully play the part of space jellyfish)
Advik and Ian used to watch this show together all the time, but since then Audrey has also taken a liking to it.
There's a good amount of horror movies roaming around Evelow, I'd say one of the biggest franchises is Tartar-us (Though the first movie that was released many years ago was called 'Under Deck')
Tumblr media
It's campy, it's gory, and a staple in every horror enthusiast's library (except for the esteemed ones who think this franchise should have died a long time ago.)
here's Zack arguing to Ian it's the greatest movie of all time.
Tumblr media
(though looking at this makes me realize that outer space play enough of a role in pop culture to be featured in spinoffs in movies such as the 'pirates' franchise for kids.)
I want to give my characters at least one more fantasy genre to have in their world, but I'll come up with more ideas later. I also feel like I've barely answered the original question ??? So I'll at least do that with my main cast
Audrey didn't grow up with movies unless they were brought over from other cities. Her town of Dile mostly had theatre and books. She liked heroes journeys, or stories with fantastical elements.
Advik loves both fantasy and sci fi. I'd say he likes fantasy more since he's much pickier about his sci fi. (He doesn't like stuff that tries to play it like it could happen in the world. I think HE'D be one of the few people really into space stuff.)
Katsumi likes more grounded stories. She doesn't care about world building if the character writing is bad. She loves style, but not if it's devoid of anything else. Also, if she has to see inaccurate costume design one more time, she swears...
Zack prefers sci fi over fantasy, since the former leaves room for potential horror elements. (since that's his actual favorite genre.)
Avery prefers fantasy over sci fi, since the stories tend to be more conventional and the costume designs are better. (She's much less picky than Kat in that department.)
"What's the difference, they're all movies" - Morgan. (She hates labeling things into genres.)

there's only one mention of a bird hybrid in diluc's part, and as any person in the middle of the night would do, my brain began to wonder. what ab other birds?
As always, based on and dedicated to the hybrid au made by @cinnamonest
Tumblr media
In Diluc's part, it's mentioned that he'd either have a dog or a bird hybrid, but the bird is described to have human ears, no tail, and wings (unfortunately clipped. Remember hybrids, don't still from crazy rich people! They can pay their way out of any legal troubles). But what if there were other bird hybrids with different features?
People wouldn't know in the first place because of their elusive nature, but in places like the desert in sumeru, there's definitely a good amount of bird hybrids living there. Especially if you consider small animals, bugs, lizards, and fruits laying about. Of course, there are monsters and mercenaries scattered about, but I like to imagine that desert bird hybrids are tougher than most.
This brings us back to the main topic of this post. Bird Varieties.
In the desert, there's a good amount of trees, but not enough to allow the birds to nest in them. I think this would lead to changes to help the hybrid adapt in the environment. For bird hybrids living in the desert, because of how vast and empty it is (a stark contrast to the labyrinth below it), I believe that there would mainly be two kinds of hybrids found in the desert.
One is like any other hybrid, but instead of dog ears and a tail, they have wings and tail feathers. The other being similar, except they don't have human arms like the others, but wings instead.
So basically, one bird has six limbs, and the other four (including wings).
Sometimes, their feet are identical to their bird counterparts, but its not limited to those living in a specific location, so it's considered to be a trait some hybrids just have, and others don't.
For our birds with special feet, sometimes they're mistaken as gigantic beasts from afar, and stories have picked up in the desert about naughty kids that stay outside late will be picked up and eaten by these creatures. At first, it was just a story made up by adults to keep their children from wandering off until someone saw one of the hybrids eating a human.
In the hybrid's case, they saw this dying person, thought that it could be free food, and decided to have a taste.
But from afar, it appeared to the village folk as a four-legged monstrosity with wings. Some even felt guilty, thinking that telling the story so many times made it come true. Of course, later on, as time passed, humans learned that they typically won't eat you if you aren't laying dead for every animal to see.
It's still strange to see a hybrid eat an actual person because they look human as well. Thanks to safely conducting research in the desert, it has been proven that one factor that could lead to this odd behavior is a lack of food in their area, and while some birds don't go down the carnivorous route, hybrids that are larger in size don't mind waiting a bit for humans to succumb to the harsh environment.
Some adventurous souls even found out that some hybrids are smart enough to scare people into either sharing their rations or into having a heart attack. This only happens with types that hunt during the night and are larger in size.
Are they really that big, though? Some, yes. But oftentimes, it's due to their large wingspan and how the darkness makes anything 100x scarier than it should be.
Anyway,
Bird hybrids with wings for arms have it more difficult, as they have to use their mouth or feet to hold things. But because they're born this way, it doesn't really seem to be an issue for them. Sometimes, they're mistaken for overgrown birds and are shot at by hunters. Due to the mistake of injuring or even killing the hybrids, hunting birds was restricted in areas that had a bird hybrid sighting.
Bird hunting in general would've been outright illegal, but people really like chicken. Raptor hybrids do too! An unfortunate discovery where one lost their small feathered friend to a hungry hawk hybrid. You would think these elusive creatures keep their distance from humans, but when they let chickens just roam free... they consider it to be an all-you-can-eat. It's recommended to have a dog hybrid to scare them off, as the more aggressive birds can easily pick up a dog.
On the off chance that someone tames a wild bird hybrid, they make for great companions. Especially for those living in the desert. I like to think that Candace once saved a raptor hybrid while being attacked during a sandstorm, and now it lives nearby and helps out in the village. People thought it was lucky to stumble upon it in a sandstorm until they saw that 2 more joined her party. Is she a god? What do these dangerous birds see in her to follow her?
The answer is mutual respect. Candace views her new companions as equals and even helps them out when they communicate their needs. In return, they're willing to protect the village from harm with their lives. Because of this, researchers flock to the desert just to get a glimpse of the birds in action but are sometimes scared off by how rough they look. Aren't hybrids supposed to be cute?? Well, if you lived your life in the desert fighting against monsters, humans, animals, and other hybrids, you'd probably have some scars and a mean look.
They're nice, though. Being around kids in the village makes them more protective, but also very distrustful of newcomers. Unless you have Candace's approval, be prepared to have eyes constantly on you.
However, for birds living in more tropical areas, these hybrids are softer and cuter in nature. But still shy around humans. Unless they're raptors, then try to keep a respectful distance. These are wild animals we're talking about, after all. For bird hybrids born closer to cities, they're more relaxed around humans, but some species are smart enough to know what happens to hybrids that have masters, so they opt to live in hard to reach places. They could just leave, but human food is too delicious to be replaced with fruits and insects.
It's their weakness, though, as humans can easily drug the food and capture the hybrid. Or, like the poor thing in Diluc's part, caught in a trap for stealing and having their wings clipped as a result.
Clipping wings is considered inhumane and outright illegal, but if you have a certified doctor's note stating that due to medical circumstances for whatever reason, their wings needed to be clipped, then it's brushed under the rug. But for bird hybrids with wings for arms? Well, it really is game over for them. Learn from Diluc's bird darling and try not to steal from the rich, as they can easily pay a doctor to sign a document to allow your pretty wings to be taken away.
Honestly, bird hybrids could be smart enough to become citizens, but because of how most choose to distance themselves from human society and value freedom more than anything else is probably the main reason why no bird hybrid in history has ever been documented as nothing more than a "treasured pet" or a "monstrous beast".
Maybe one day a bird will be able to have the same rights any human has, but for now, they should probably maintain a distance from humans who want to take away their freedom.

ErRoR eRrOr ErRoR
What do you think? I tried to do a spine-chiller type of thing here (I don’t know if it was good or not since this is the first time doing it) with a few ideas on some classic Fairy Tales but with some Rizzy Twists (Or Twists you think would work better)
Sorry if that was creepy or not creepy enough (Did you get some Goosebumps?)
If you’re curios, I can send you the Starring List of Each Baki Character with the star; Darling Reader! (It’s just the Name Titles and ‘Star Actors’ for each Story, along with the simple Plot Line, but with a Twist!)
Example;
Little Darling Hood
Characters: Reader (As ‘Little’ short Darling Hood as the cute little baker, who comes to Jack’s ‘aid’ not realizing her mistake)
Jack (As the Hunter/Lumberjack of the town that lives deep in the woods all alone secretly the infamous Big Bad Werewolf that terrorizes nearby villages by devouring their cattle, livestock and foolish hunters that think they can kill him)
Plot: Jack Hanma is the Hunter and Lumberjack of the small village and falls sick, but his size and stoic demeanor makes everyone too afraid to help him, except for sweet and kind Reader, who decides to go to his cabin to take care of him! (With a basket full of medicine, pastries and the meat and vegetables he gave her as a gift yesterday)
However, Reader doesn’t realize that ‘poor’ Jack isn’t sick, but he’s actually in his Heat Cycle trying to stay away from said cute baker to not scare her (But now that she’s in his cabin, he’s going to devour her whole, and not in the way she thinks)
Jack please be gentle, you wouldn’t want to scare your mate would you? Let her know she’s safe, after all she accepted your proposal! That’s why she came to you with the food you gave her before your cycle started, to show you can provide for her better than anyone else, and she came to CARE for you, like a kind and loving mate should do!
And before you ask, YES Jack will look a cross between Human and Werewolf at the moment (He looks bigger to, but it’s his very soft and fluffy fur that makes him look beefier than he usually looks, which is covering his entire body minus some of his face)
I hope this wasn’t weird (My ADHD is running wild right now and I can’t stop it) Proceeds to stare into the distance with a deranged look realizing how much of a freak I really am I really like your stuff and I’m know for getting to hyper-fixated on things I really like (Your writing is the stuff I like)
Another potential fic to add to my queue.

Thoughts on ‘The Sea Beast’
SPOILERS AHOY!
I loved the character designs, for the humans and the creatures. I feel like the design team had a lot of fun.
It was neat how the castle architecture and decor had a palette of sea green, gold, and white, yet still felt very aquatic, rather than leaning on an “ocean theme = blue” palette.
The royal couple’s costumes kind of gave me ‘sea monster’ vibes even before they were confirmed to be antagonistic characters. I think it was all the little triangles on the trim. (According to a sewing website I’ve read, those are called Van Dyke points, but I’m not sure how widely used that term is.)
I think Blue is the same species as Red, just a different colour while a baby. The angler lure will lose its light and turn into a crest as Blue gets older. I want a plushie of Blue, and maybe one of the yellow ones as well.
I very, very much want to see a video of Voltaire’s song “The Beast Of Pirate’s Bay” using clips from this movie.
Captain Crow was super dumb for dumping the Hand Of God harpoon overboard as soon as Red was captured. Even if he was holding off on killing her until they got back to the capital, keeping the poison on hand might have been a good idea in case they needed to, oh, I don’t know, sedate the giant beast again?
Potential reasons I came up with for why humans and sea beasts would be in conflict:
Some combination of the following:
1. It started due to honest misunderstandings, akin to a shark’s “test bite” of a surfer.
Sea beasts are huge, and big things need lots of food. Know what has a lot of calories? Mammal meat. It is not unreasonable to think some types of sea beast might eat whales. Ships at sea would be mistaken for a whale surfacing to breathe, the sea beast would come up to eat it, and oops, it’s not a whale after all.
Even the story about how “them beasts would come right up to shore, pluck a lady from her veggie patch, and swallow her up” could be based on true events. If a sea beast preyed on pinnipeds (seals, sea lions, and walruses), they could mistake humans on the beach for seals and go after them, expecting them to be slower and clumsier out of water.
2. Sea Beast territory blocks an otherwise-desirable trading route.
Plenty of wars and conflicts in human history have been about controlling trade routes. As a coastal territory, much of the kingdom’s trade is presumably by sea.
3. Sea Beast territory overlaps with otherwise-desirable fishing grounds.
As stated in Hypothesis 1, big animals need lots of food. Red’s whirlpool trick is presumably to cluster fish together so she can eat a bunch of them in one bite.
Coastal regions also tend to be heavily dependant on fishing for food.
4. The horns are harvested for ‘medicinal’ purposes.
It fits with the whaling metaphor (harvesting blubber and spermaceti for lamp oil, and baleen for corset boning), the big game hunting theme (rhino horns used as an aphrodisiac), and the theme of hunting supernatural creatures (unicorn horns, and narwhal tusks, could supposedly detect and cure poisons).
5. The Royal Family have discovered the Sea Beasts make useful scapegoats.
“Yes, we had to raise taxes, but it’s to fund the hunters and protect our people from the beasts!”
“Yes, everything is expensive, because it’s hard to get imports past the beasts and we can only produce so much locally.”
Depending on what people believe about the sea beasts’ intelligence and capabilities, it might even be possible to blame them for storms, droughts, floods, and tidal waves.
6. It’s a direct side-effect of the whaling industry.
Related to Hypothesis 3; sea beasts have sunk whaling ships, and compete for the same prey. Humans started trying to wipe them out so they’d stop getting in the way.
(I did not actually expect this to be canon, since whaling is generally frowned upon by a modern audience and this is a kids’ movie, so the scriptwriters wouldn’t want to get into that.
Also, do whales even exist in this world, or do sea beasts fill that ecological niche? We never see proof onscreen that whales coexist with sea beasts, but the ocean is vast and it’s hard to prove a negative.)
7. From the Sea Beasts’ perspective, humans are a fellow beast with whom they are competing for territory.
I mean, looking at things from a certain angle, this isn’t totally wrong.
The Explanation The Movie Gave:
Generations ago, the Royal Family told everyone that Sea Beasts were bad and needed to be hunted. They did this for ... reasons.
On my second watching, I puzzled out, “Maybe that’s part of the point, that the real motives were lost to history and sometimes you don’t get to find out why; some random kid like Maisie never got to find out the full truth, but she still found out the important part - that the manipulation existed, and that sea beasts aren’t actively malicious - and that’s why it’s important to question stuff people have ‘always known’, because details get lost over time and could’ve been wrong to begin with.”
But for a first watching, wow, talk about leaving an important plot thread hanging.

And I believe that the few I selected are truly well rounded characters, and amazing takes on who the character is.
the Lobotomy Corp one I know nothing about but who has a sick design (I also want the fans of this one to have a win because I liked watching the first round because of them)
Bugs Bunny
General Propaganda:
So the story is that the Three Little Pigs sell Bugs their straw and wood houses, the Big Bad Wolf blows them down, and Bugs decides to get revenge - by dressing himself up as Little Red Riding Hood, getting the Wolf to play his part in that story, and then messing with him as only Bugs can. Here's the video if you've never seen it: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6vk41x
Bugs Bunny is an icon and he was so good for his role in this short. When he and the wolf realized they could work together against the pigs... oh my God. Come on Tumblr, you have to admit they had a little gay tension between them. Besides, at the end, when the brick house comes down and the wolf, so surprised and proud of himself exclaims "I did it!" and then it pans over to Bugs with the bomb and he slyly adds "We did it!" communist Bugs canon.
I love Bugs but badass little girls with the personality of a gruff action heroes are everything to 12 year old girls.
Loser's Bracket Propaganda:
Bugs Bunny winning would just be really funny

Writeblr Introduction
Who am I? I'm Anatifery, progenitor of ducks, and I figured I should probably do one of these in an attempt to appear neighborly. I don't expect anyone to really read or even see what I post; I've never been big on social media and have never successfully garnered an audience. Quite simply, I have never had the drive to achieve a following beyond fleeting "what-ifs" and "really-shoulds." I was on tumblr long ago when the Deep Magic was written and then vanished from the world. I arise again because I've been locked in a state of post-covid affliction wherein I have little energy to do much of anything physical. I can type most days and I can think some days though the latter do not always intersect with the former.
The beginning of my internet self pre-dates extant social media platforms. That was the time of monsters never using your real name and that habit stuck with me. To be fair though I have never and wouldn't publish under my real name either unless I have no other choice.
I am generally pretty proud of my writing upon completion if only for the sheer fact that it is completed. I do not, however, think I am all that good of writer. The Clarion workshop seems to agree as I am a rejected applicant. That is perfectly okay.
Oh, and I suppose I should speak to pronouns. I accept any barring "it" and I would prefer not neo-pronouns. I have no judgments against neo-pronouns but they somehow feel less "me" than the classics.
What do I write?
A little of a lot. Ideally I would have something for everyone but I can obviously make no guarantees. I don't normally write smut nor do I often include instances akin to it in wider works but that is not to say that it will never happen. The primary genres and tropes that come up the most I would wager are sci-fi, low-magic fantasy, historical fantasy, and nearly always something close to romance with a queer character if some romance is appropriate at all. Some of what I'm working on the larger picture: Working Name "Therewolf" - historical fantasy set in Al-Andalus in the 17th century, in a world where the Reconquista did not occur (though this isn't really important to the plot). Maryam is a werewolf hunter and makes her living protecting towns from them. There are, unknown to the common people, no real werewolves on the entire Iberian peninsula though; she is a charlatan but actually a decent real wolf hunter which helps sell the scam. She gets drawn into a deep conspiracy when she finds her employer dead, hanged inside his own home in an apparent suicide. Working Name "Neon Apogee" - relatively standard cyberpunk fare (very imaginative, I know), and not to be conflated with my short story of the same name (same world, though). This follows Cahaya, a non-binary 'net investigator intent on solving crimes perpetrated by the elite upon the lower classes; the sorts of crimes that the police would never look into. In fact, it seems like the police themselves are often their primary suspects. Working Name "The Real Monsters" - a post-apocalyptic humanity has pulled themselves more or less together. They have religious prohibitions against robots and many types of automation, and have chosen instead to uplift animals to serve as workers. The problem, however, was never AI; it was how humans treat those they deem beneath them. This summary doesn't sound that inventive and I apologize for that but I do think I actually am bringing a nice spin on the whole thing. What do I post?
If and when I post, it will be short stories that I create to procrastinate from work on real manuscripts which I have a hope of publishing. Excerpts from the above will probably not be posted. At some point I may delve back into fanfic, especially if my condition does not soon improve. Those I would be willing to share parts of. I will be on AO3; I've already signed up just in case we come to it.
Thank you
If you gotten this far then I salute you but I wonder why. Thank you for your interest up to this point, though. Please follow me if you have any inclination. Any interaction here to be honest would put a smile to my face and warmth in my heart.

The Quarry Starters !
Taken from  the 2022 Supermassive Games video game, The Quarry! Some of these have already been edited. You can change them however you see fit! There may be some light spoilers!
“We’re just… We’re in geographic flux.”
“Guess it’s all part of the rustic summer camp experience.”
“Just another guy who didn’t want to admit that he was lost.”
“Is this guy, like, the all time scariest cop?”
“You really want to listen to the advice of some creep ass cop who told us in the middle of the creep ass woods to go to some creep ass motel?”
“Oh my god, if he called me ‘ma’am’ one more time, I was about to shove that badge up his dickhole.”
“You’ve seen Evil Dead, right?”
“I’ve waited for you. I’ve waited, yes. So I do hope our time together proves… enlightening.”
“There are secrets out there, you know. Secrets and lies.”
“Ugh, horror. I hate horror.”
“Well, I haven’t killed you… yet. And you’re still pretty pathetic.”
“Okay, okay. Let’s all put our little dicks away and get this show on the road, huh?”
“Time to let loose and vamoos this caboose.”
“I mean… in a way, ‘faking’ it is just being yourself, but louder.”
“Gotta understand the repercussions of your actions, buster.”
“Good grief. I’m outgrowing my own cliches.”
“Will humanity prevail? Or will we grow ravenous and resort to eating the flesh of the deceased like I saw in that one plane crash movie.”
“What? You got a gun, why can’t I get firecrackers?”
“Booty? Oh, uh, it means like treasure… Or butts.”
“I knew there was a secret sex dungeon around here somewhere!”
“Alright, well, it looks like a pit of eternal darkness so…”
“It is pretty spooky down here and it smells pretty unnatural so… Yeah. Okay. I’m coming back up.”
“You’re in danger. Hunted by a creature of indeterminate origin-“
“Where’s the fun in hunting that which is already dead.”
“Big jokes take big sacrifices.”
“Well, I hate to break it to you, but he just had his tongue down my throat, and he definitely knew what to do with it.”
“What’s this? A female in need? Fear not, fragile thing — For Hurricane (Name) is here!”
“I-I-I don’t even know what it was. It was so fast, and it was- and there was a hunter.”
“Looks like we have a choice on our hands. Do we snoop though someone else’s belongings, or do we open the spooky trapped door and die a horrible, painful death?!”
“You mean nine-one-one? Who says ‘ninety one one?”
“Okay, sure, but that’s because I really wanted a gun.”
“Okay, so maybe I was a little nervous when I arrived in an uncomfortable social situation and I overcompensated a little bit by making a bunch of jokes.”
“Well that bodes ill. Fucking hell.”
“I’m sick, (Name)… Why don’t you care about me?”
“I mean… dead people don’t usually jump out of windows and run into the forest.”
“You have no idea what’s going on here. Not a goddamn clue. You just stepped into Grade A, Double Prime, Go Ahead and Kill Yourself cosmic type shit. And your only option is to buckle the fuck up and do as I say. Do you understand?”
“I’m just trying to get us out of here, and I can’t get us out of here until I have some clue about why the fuck we’re in here.”
“It really did a number on you. Like, I’m surprised you’re not more messed up. Like I vividly remember the things teeth ripping into you.”
“So what? What do we do, really? We run off into the sunset, only to be stopped when I turn into a nasty ass monster and kill you. And eat you. And then I run off into the sunset alone with little bits of you stuck in my teeth.”
“So much for my depth perception.”
“We’re gonna fix you, (Name). Promise. I promise.”
“‘Fucking around where they shouldn’t have.’ That’s (Name)‘a middle name. This is very bad.”
“This isn’t a ghost story. It’s a creature features. It’s really happening, and you’re all in it.”
“You’re doing all of this for a boy?”
“Jesus, Mary and Jazzhands.”
“Trauma can bring people together.”
“Someone’s been eating there spinach.”
“So — You want to go into the collapsing nightmare tunnel first, or shall I?”
“I wish I could take it all back. I wish I could take it all back, but I can’t.”
“Hey, find me something sharp enough in the scrapyard and… we can make that happen.”
“Fuck this night. Fuck it all the way until morning.”
“YOU CAN’T HIDE FROM ME IN MY OWN HOUSE, FUCKER!”
“This isn’t gonna be too pleasant for you. I promise you that!”
“I ain’t ever been stabbed before.”
“I keep trying to fix it… Whatever this is… But people keep getting hurt.”
“We are being hunted by literal monsters and this is what bothers you?”
“Thanks. For… Uh… Not killing me.”
“The nights not over yet. These fuckers know we’re here, and they’re coming back first chance they get.”
“I kind of want an oil painting of me now.”
“Showtime, motherfuckers.”
“I wish I could tell you I’m sorry. More than anything.”
“Fuck! I just wanted one more night together. Is that too much to ask? Shit. Stop crying you big baby.”
“God damn this place has some uncool vibes.”
“Okay. I hope you got hat insurance, (Name) — Because I’m about to blow your mind!”
“You always have to oversell something to sell it! That’s capitalism, baby!”

Would you mind elaborating on how you think stories in games are declining?
yeah I can do that I talked about it a little on twitter the other night
to start I just want to mention that this is based on the games I've played recently, so if you're thinking "well [this game] had a great story" I probably. didn't play it, or plan to sometime
also this is just an observation I'm making about myself. it's not very organized i'm typing this up at 5am
so this is about how good ghost trick's story is. as in so good, the feeling of finishing a game with no questions about anything significant was entirely foreign to me; and it may be the only game to ever make me feel like that for a long time
frankly I don't know if I just chose the wrong new games to play this year, or if it's the whole "sequels are generally worse than the original" thing, or if I've gotten picky about stories, or all of the above (probably all of the above and then some) but ghost trick made me realize I haven't played a single story-driven game (released in 2022) where I came out of the credits satisfied
just "...huh. ok. that's it then I guess"
however, I played a number of older titles where I was like "ohhh that was so good. wow" and was overall happy with the experience
but it's not really just limited to 2022; a lot of the games I played in 2021 too were lacking and/or didn't stick the landing in their stories
these include: p5 strikers (though I played that for the combat so I enjoyed it), ntwewy, lost judgment, nirvana initiative, and xenoblade 3 (this is a weird one bc I didn't dislike it but I didn't feel very strongly opinionated about it when I finished the game)
(tales of arise had several issues but I actually liked the ending a lot so it's an exception)
and then. there are some games I played that weren't story-driven, but had an interesting premise and just. dropped it completely somewhere along the way, or half-assed the explanations: monster hunter rise, world's end club, and smt5
rise is only here bc I thought the thing with the elder dragons speaking through the twins was really cool. and then it turned out to be nothing. but this leads into one of my points: that a lot of games are being released unfinished so players are compelled to buy dlc promising new story content for the loose threads that weren't wrapped up in the base game. and sometimes it still doesn't cover everything important that's missing
although rise doesn't count bc we got the rest of the story in free updates, it WAS literally unfinished at launch. extra content being released in paid dlc has been discussed by plenty of other people though (I just think it's one of the more significant factors contributing to why stories have felt. lacking) so. moving on
my big takeaway after playing ghost trick was that I had grown accustomed to stories that just. have the most slap-a-bandaid-on-it-and-call-it-good endings/explanations ever. I was used to being disappointed (in a "well that was a letdown" way, not an "I'm gonna miss this" way) when the credits rolled. I picked up games that promised a good story and expected important plot lines to never be addressed, because it's happened SO many times
in other words, gt caught me off guard because there was an entirely reasonable answer to every potential question I had. it's like when someone shuts your argument down so completely that you're speechless
this has also been discussed by others but I think being too hypercritical of little things/refusing to suspend disbelief is a "harmful" mindset to have. if you keep actively trying to nitpick something so you can go "I knew it!! this SUCKS" then of course you're going to be hard-pressed to find a "perfect" piece of media
and while I consider myself someone who's fully willing to go "okay, sure" in the moment, I've been exposed to so many posts that read so deeply into something incredibly minor that now I can't help but raise an eyebrow at things I never would've given a second thought to before,,,,,whenever that started
so I guess my other point here is that it feels like a lot of people don't let themselves enjoy stories when the plot gets a little nonsensical at times, or just get super hung up on the flaws. there's a difference between a game with an ending that's so bad you never want to play it again, and a game that was mostly solid but This One Negligible Thing absolutely ruined it for you
and I'm not trying to tell anyone what to enjoy or how to enjoy it but I think people could stand to not focus on the negatives so much, because it makes some stories seem a lot worse than they. actually are
xenoblade 3 is currently kind of getting this treatment (or it's at least pretty divisive from what I can tell), but some of it is actually warranted criticism while the rest of it is a lack of media literacy/not picking up on the show-don't-tell
anyway TL;DR ghost trick is the most complete game, story-wise, that I've ever played. I can't compare any other game to it bc it's on an entirely different level, but at the same time I now know what it feels like to finish a game wholly satisfied with its conclusion. and writers should put more care into the stories they've crafted for their games, particularly if they've been planning it for multiple years (though I'm aware that time constraints/pressure from higher-ups/other variables like that are detrimental to the creative process)

Ep 2 is here now and I gotta say, the fact that Lata just finds all things monster fascinating is my fav thing cuz that is just me. Her playing with the jaw of the zombie was adorable and I wish i could've done the same. Carlos finding it disturbing just added to the charm of the whole scene.
Millie immediately yelling at John before he even got the chance to exit the car was oof, big oof. Mainly cuz it reminded me of my own mother's control tendencies. And because of that, I also tend to try and understand her point: admittedly John could've died and she wouldn't have know anything til after the fact. I get that fear, especially after the 2 years of no contact and likely a not good break before that with John at war. But fuck if she didn't just make it way harder for John to ever try bridging that gap or learning actual skills on dealing with conplex shit like that because she was just unreasonable about it all and taking it out on him. And the fact that La Tunda is actually calm when talking to John later is sooo interesting. I can't say she was nicer than Millie, cuz she wasn't but it def counts as another of those [insert crowley here saying :so my demons were too polite?] moments. I just found it all soo interesting and I have to add thay sadly her story at the end of the episode where she tells John about her and Henry's dealing with arguements doesnt actually help her case too much because of how she reacted initially. All thay teaches John is that he can take out his fear on others and then smooth it over with an "ull understand when ure older/had kids/been through similar shit" she is somply not constructive at all. But it a bit of an improvement because she, i believe, meant it as an explanation and apology despite it sounding as an excuse to me.
John being clearly not a pro at hunting or even just the type of fighting style hunting requires (and especially with a group of hunters) sent me. It's soo good. And it just makes me think of SPN!John learning to hunt and with the trauma of Mary's death it suddenly seems like even more reasons he didn't engage with a hunter's network. He just isn't a team player in that sense, he's too hyperfocused on his own fight that he loses sight of anyone else, and more than that, he had to have learned to adjust the fighting style he'd known to something that would work for hunting. It was basically ego and refusal to change, surpise surprise. TW!John tho keeps trying even after he fucks up, and while Im sure the constatly getting splashed with monster guts isnt fun, he doesn't have the same hang ups about not being perceived as indestructible. He essentially rolls with the punches and learns and is allowed to have flaws on display. Its not the pedestal SPN!John is put and puts himself on.
Mary's bullheadedness is absolutely fantastic in an extremely frustrating way. She is so fixated on getting through the case as fast as possible so she can get back to finding her dad that I actually got some season 1 Sam vibes from her this episode. I will say I find it soo interesting we got a John focus, cuz we all know the Cambells aren't that off for La Tunda to go for. Carlos giving her a pep talk about it and also admonishing her for her behaviour is def deserved and just top notch friendship tbh. As is the Cabaret gag with Mary, Carlos and Lata. It shows in a small but important way that these 3 def have a history and it's a long and intricate one. And u see even more later after John gets taken. It's in the way they talk to each other even in a high stress situation. Also Mary ackowledging she fucked up and thanking Caelos at the end... ughhhh I love growth.
Ada get to show off a bit more in this one, her scrying was genuinely sooo good, like this episode does a fantastic job of making you ask yourself what is actually up with Ada, whats her deal?? Because on the one hand, she recognized the flower off the top of her head and helped Lata instantly, on the other hand the way the scrying was shot was almost unnearving. And im not sure if it's cuz spn got me/us used to seeing scrying done by villains or as a subterfuge tactic or what, but yea, it added another air of mystery to Ada. And then u you have her conversation with Millie which has a hell of a ripple effect cuz I genuinely believe it's that converation that led to her actually trying with John at the end a bit. It's not solving anything broken there yet, but it does help. And adding ehat we know of about Ada's past to this makes me cry cuz shes just trying to prevent Millie from making the same mistake she had basically.
Carlos was more mediator this episode. Between the Lata and Carlos show (as per usual their friendship is everything to me) and seeing the complexity of that relationship as it stands and their dynamic with each other, to lecturing Mary on her behaviour, to just being highly competent at the job overall. Like they might not have done too much in the foreground, but damn if it wasn't a shitton of background work there. You can tell here that for all the "Im a solo act " bravado, Carlos is actually very much a team player and it's due to the emotional inteligence they have thats on full display here, in their usual jokey manner of course, that thats the case.
Aaaannd we get the 1st mention of Betty in this. I won't touch on that in this one but I like Betty a lot.
The end of this episode is my fav thing. Because it's pizza and joking and hanging out beside having the plot move forward once Ada brings up what shes been up to this episode. And still the focus isn't on the demon memories, but on them bonding. Uhhhh I love it.
We also have the 1st glimpse of the Akrida and if you were skulking around here when the show was airing in autumn u know I think the Akrida are adorable and I want a plushy with them. So the pure joy the shot of who we now know is likely Roxy with all them little critters around gave me cannot be overstated.
This ep def is much better paced than the Pilot, and also just lays clear the main there of this show, which is intergenerational trauma. It literally slaps u with it, it's front and centre and will continue to be shown in its many varried forms as the show progressed and I fucking love it for that because ultimately that is what Dean is doing here, beside once more saving the world. He is like i said, woeking through his own intergenerational trauma through these young versions of his parents that haven't yet had more trauma pilled onto them.
Stay tuned for ep 3 whenever I find the time to rewatch it!
