The guest - PT 2
Jack Dawkins x fem reader fic. Requested story.
PT one here.
Tumblr media
You rushed through the town to the hospital, finding Jack walking out.
"Doctor Dawkins? Excuse me doctor?" You call out to him. Upon hearing you he turns, a smile drawing across his lips.
"Hello Miss y/l/n. A bit late for you to be put isn't it?" He asks, sauntering over to you.
"I'm sorry Doctor. I just needed to ask if you're heading to a poker game?"
His eyes narrowed at you.
"Yes."
You sigh, "okay. Do me a favour, do not take the twenty six pound bet. Fold and leave." You implore him.
"What do you mean?" He asks.
"I can't tell you how I know but please trust me. Darius will cheat you. Please just do this for me." You ask. Jack looks at you curiously.
"I don't know how you know but sure, I'll fold if it goes to twenty six pounds." He replies, a small grin on his lips, "I don't suppose you'd like to come with me would you?"
In all honesty, yes you'd love to go with him, but you figured it would be better if you returned to the Governor's house. You bid him a goodnight and darted away from him again. Making your way back to the house and resting back on the guest bed.
*_*_*_*
Jack sat around the table.in the captains quarters a hand of cards held between his fingers. He glanced around at his opponents. The sun was coming up outside, causing a dim glow around the room. Jack looked at his pocket watch, a surgery was scheduled for.in twenty minutes. He had a good hand but your words were playing in his mind. Looking at the pile of coins in front of him Jack chose to fold his hand.
"Oh come now, Doctor. I thought you had bigger balls than that." Darius laughed.
"We can discuss the size of my manhood another day, I have to save a life." Jack quipped, spinning on his heel.
The awaiting crowd chanted in the theatre as Jack ran up to Sneed. The two doctors waltz into the operating room and Jack turns to the crowd.
"Gentlemen. The Royal Hospital somewhat proudly presents Dr. Rainsford Sneed and the much celebrated Dr. Jack Dawkins." The crowd cheers, "Now, we have a fine one for you today, gents. A leg, shattered. Falling down a mine shaft, was it?" He looks to Hetty the head nurse, "The question, though, is who cuts?" He and Snees take their places either side of the table and Jack flicks a coin into the air. Hetty captures it and announced the heads.
"Me." Jack threw up his arms to his sides before sweeping round to the other side.
"I bet you can't do it under forty three" Sneed whispers.
"A pound says twenty nine." Jack grins.
"When have you ever had a pound?"
"As soon as you lose. Gentlemen! Dr. Sneed here seems to think that I can't amputate this leg in less than his record of forty three seconds. Well, I beg to differ!" Jack played up for the crowd, he wouldn't admit it out loud but he loved the adoration. He turns to the patient.
" Mr. Champflower, this will be the worst thrity seconds of your life, but I promise, I will make it as quick as I can. Your favourite memory. Take your mind there now." The operation begins and within twenty eight seconds the leg had been amputated and seen up. Jack gave Mr champflower a drink of medicinal whiskey as Hetty began wrapping the leg in a bandage.
"Come on hot shot, we have a new shipment of convicts to deal with." Sneed explained as the two men gathered their medical bags and made their way outside. Two tables had been set up for them with a line of English convicts waiting their turn. Hours passed him by as he mindlessly gave each one a health check.
A young woman stepped up to his table, Jack felt putty for the girl, her round face reminded him of the girls he had known as a child.
"Name?"
"Milly Wince."
" And your crime?"
" I stole clothes for me baby, but he died on the way over."
That made Jack sad, pitty swept over him.
"What was his name?"
" Benjy."
" She can help the schoolma'am." He says to the redcoat behind her. Hetty wrote down the girl's name and new job in the book beside Jack.
" But I can't read." She whispers to him.
"It's all right, they'll teach you." He says with a small smile, " All right, next."
A man dressed in old, dirty clothing steps up, his hands bound in iron chains. Jack looked up, his world shattering in an instant.
"Hello, Dodge. Been a time? Dog got your tongue?" The old.man laughed. Jack jumped up grabbing the man's shoulder and dragging round a corner.
"You're dead. They hanged you 15 years ago in Newgate." He says shakely, pushing Fagin to the wall.
"Surprise, surprise." Fagin chuckled, looking around himself, "What are you? Why are they all salutin' you like you're royalty?" He asks.
"I was a navy surgeon, an officer." Jack explains and takes a step backward.
"Oh. You've done well for yourself, boy. I'm proud of you."
"What are you doing here, Fagin?"
" Well, Her Majesty and I thought that I could benefit from a bit of quiet time in the colony." He laughed again.
" Now, listen to me. I can decide your fate with a stroke of my pen, so if one word gets out about our past..." jack begins, Fagin throws up his hands.
" No, I would never do that. Never. Never. To even think it hurts. No. I'm here for you, just as I hope you're here for me. Because sometimes, a covey gets pushed into a corner like a rat, and the only way out is to bite. So, don't make me bite you, Dodge." Fagin says.
"What do you want?"
"Well, a little bird flapped in and whispered to me that you'd escaped from prison in London. Do they hang escaped convicts here? I'll take that as a yes. Don't fret, I'd never give you up, just keep me off that chain gang." Fagin almost thinks of begging.
Gaines appears around the corner, "Dawkins. Everything all right?"
"Yes. I thought he might have something contagious, but it's just his stench." Jack lied quickly.
" Where's he going? I need another on the chain gang. Doesn't matter if he doesn't last that long." Gaines asked eyeing Fagin.
"No, I was thinking of making him my convict servant."
*_*_*_*
The trip to the seamstress had gone well and you stood with Belle in a new pastel green dress. You had to admit, though the corset was foreign to you it felt nice to be such a lovely dress. The two of you walked out of the shop towards the carriage, the two of you laughing together. It was nice speaking with her. Sharing your medical knowledge with her, making sure you didn't give too much away.
"You have to tell me about either. Do they use it in the hospital you're from?" She asks. The driver giddied the horses and it pulled away.
"Oh l, yes. It's brilliant, in full use. We use it for all the surgeries." You say happily. Outside the driver is calling out to the people on the streets when you feel a bump, more than a bump. The whole carriage rocked and you were sure it was close to toppling. It stopped and you got out as fast as you could knowing what must have happened.
Just as you'd thought the boy, Charlie was lying on the road, his leg split open. You drop down beside him and tear at the material of his trousers leg before tying it just below the knee. Glancing quickly around you grabbed the thick hat pin from your new hat and used it to tighten the tourniquet. As you worked people gathered and were chatting loudly one woman called out for a doctor. Jack appeared beside you.
"I've tied a tourniquet, but it isn't tight enough."
"that must have hurt your arm." He says looking between you and the child. You grinned but didn't reply.
"It's all right. I'm gonna sort you right out." He said to Charlie reassuringly. His tone was even softer than you remembered from the show.
"Can you fix it?" Belle asks.
" I'll need to amputate."
"no." You breathe out.
" What about Bircher's procedure to save it?" Belle questioned.
"Miss, please, To do that, I would need to drill into his leg bones, and insert pegs to knit them back together again. He would die of shock and pain." He argues his case.
"Not if you take the pain with ether." You interject almost to yourself.
" The Yankee Dodge?" Jack looks at you curiously .
"Yes." Belle becomes excited.
"That is unproven." He remind sher.
" Except for Morton in Boston and Liston in London. Do you even read The Lancet?" She bites at him.
"Not while I have strength, no. Anyway, that chump of a Governor has banned ether, so Prof wouldn't let it near the hospital." Jack explained
" That's just idiotic." Belle scoffed. Look, I've got-"
"Look, m'lady, one of us is a qualified surgeon and the other one is carrying a bloody parasol. So, thank you, but would you mind awfully sodding off." He cut her off and you sniggered under your breath.
"Okay enough, look Jack, Fagin get the boy in the carriage, Belle has an idea." You grinned at them and got to your feet, pulling Belle to the side.
"What are you talking about?" She asks in a whispered tone.
"You have everything we need at your house. Get us there quickly." You say raising your eyebrows at her. Belle's smile was wide with mischief and excitement. Behind you Jack had gotten Charlie into the carriage and jumped in. You and Belle got in alongside them, Belle sat beside Charlie's head meaning you had to squeeze in beside Jack, your hip bumping his as you did. He glances at where you touched him before raising his eyes to meet yours. A whimper from Charlie pulls his attention away.
"Hey, it's not too bad, Charlie boy. I've seen much worse at sea. Plus, you're gonna have a terrific scar." He attempts to reassure the lad.
"A stump." Belle scoffs, "Instead of using ether, you're going to butcher the boy and condemn him to beggary?"
" Thank you. Wonderful bedside manner you've got. You've got a knack for it." Jack sneered at her.
"Someone's got to stick up for him. If only you'd listen." She tried to fight back. Charlie grabbed for Jack's arm.
"You're not gonna take it?" He asked.
" I promise, I am going to save your life." Jack spoke softly to him, then turned his attention back to Belle, "You listen to me, you upstart. I'd give anything to trial that surgery Anything. Surgery without pain would revolutionise medicine."
Your hand comes out to take Belle's, "The biggest risk to any surgeon is the addiction to feeling like God. You are gambling against death with only your wit for ante, and that is bloody exhilarating. But the risk is not yours. There is a person beneath your hands. And the moment the cutter forgets that, and gives into his ego, then the patient is lost." You explain to her.
"A surgeon is lost." Jack adds as she Huff's at you both.
"Might I suggest you find your backbone?" She bit, folding her arms over her chest.
Jack felt the carriage turning to the left instead of right, "the hospital is that way!" He spoke out.
"We aren't going to the hospital." Belle quipped.
"Why, he doesn't have much time, you ridiculous woman...this is the Governor's house." Jack realises.
"Yes it is." You say pulling Jack's eyes to you.
"This is your idea?" He asks, almost impressed.
"Not really. Belle, go in and get your supplies. I'll make sure the way is clear." You say to her as the carriage is pulled to a stop.
You jump out a little too quickly and feel your breath catch in your lungs. Jack is beside you, concerned .
"I'm fine, just getting used to this corset." You say brushing him off and running into the building. You can hear the Governor's gathered guests upstairs and hoped everything would work out just as it did in the show.
Belle came running to you, her surgeon's kit tucked under her arm.
"Here give it to me, go get them." You say grabbing the equipment from her and placing it on the side board behind you. As quietly as you could you emptied the table and pulled it forward into the space beside the stairs, just as they were carrying Charlie in.
"Here we'll have to do it here." You say calling them over.
"Not ideal." Belle scoffs as she nervously checks up the stairs. Her father was already bringing his guests down. You stop at the head of the table, one hand beside Charlie's head and the other reaching to your chest.

mm cast interview
characters: grayson donohue, kennedy rose, alex colwell, kelsey montgomery, nora, callie, demetri renfied
words: 1969
**unedited//you guys ever watch kitchen nightmares?**
Hello and welcome to the very long-awaited character interview! I'm your host, Alli, and I have with me today the cast of Mirror Mine!
Kelsey: They know what's going on; let's speed this up a bit, shall we?
(Grayson nudges her and she rolls her eyes but holds her tongue.)
I suppose we should just jump into it! I'll start with Kelsey, since she seems to have volunteered herself. First question; what made you become a detective?
Kelsey: (shrug) Why does anyone? To help those unable to help themselves. To bring justice to those who need it most.
How noble of you! And what were your impressions of the other cast members?
Kelsey: (she tilts her head to the side and hums) Gray was still a rookie when I first met him; I thought he was a total idiot that couldn't tell his arse from his elbow. But he's since grown on me and (eye roll) is actually quite competent and good at his job.
Grayson: (grinning) Thanks, Kels.
Kelsey: Yeah, whatever. Nora, I adore; she made me feel warm and welcome immediately. And she makes the best ratatouille I've ever tasted. I don't interact a lot with Callie, but they seem alright. Alex is way too happy-go-lucky for my liking but to each their own. And I like Kennedy; she seems to be the only one with her head screwed on straight.
And what about Demetri?
Kelsey: (deadpan) I said all I have to say.
Well... alright then! My next question is for Nora; how did it feel to raise two children on your own? Is there anything you would've changed?
Nora: It wasn't easy... those first couple of years were especially difficult. It was like suddenly not having any legs to stand on, I lost my balance a couple of times. But I'm so proud of who they grew up to be and I wouldn't have changed anything. Well, (dark chuckle) except maybe having my husband around.
(Demetri shifts in his seat, his eyes on the floor.)
Is there a specific memory that you'd consider to be your favourite?
Nora: Oh, there are just so many... (pause) I think if I had to choose, it would be Callie's first Christmas. Demetri and I had decided to keep the celebration small instead of inviting our family over, so it was just the four of us. MC was so excited to help Cal unwrap their presents that they didn't even care about their own. We spent the day in our pyjamas, let the kids watch cartoons and play with their new toys... it was the perfect day.
Demetri, would you say that's your favourite memory too?
Demetri: Like Nora said, there are too many to choose from but... that was a really good one.
But it's not your favourite. (He shakes his head.) And if you had to choose?
Demetri: The day I married Nora.
(Nora looks away to the floor and chews on the inside of her cheek.)
Let's move on, shall we? Alex! What is it about Grayson that makes u tease him so much?
Alex: (grinning) He just makes it so easy. He's a walking treasure trove of material.
(Grayson crosses his arms over his chest and grumbles quietly to himself.)
Alex: See what I mean?
Why did you choose paediatric surgery?
Alex: Well, I like children and I like helping people; so, when I realised I could do both, it was an easy choice to make.
But surely that must make things worse when things go wrong?
Alex: (serious) Of course; it's always really difficult to lose a patient but I understand that sometimes there's simply nothing that can done, even if you've done everything in your power to make it not so. A lot of doctors struggle with blaming themselves when things go wrong and I used to too, but I've learned that I can't let myself get swept up in my grief or my next patient might suffer too.
I like that; I think that makes you a great doctor. Now on a lighter note: what made you like MC in high school?
Alex: (with a surprised laugh) Oh, I... don't actually know. I just remember thinking that I needed to talk to them and get to know them, you know? And after our first date, I just wanted more and more.
And how did it feel when you broke up the first time?
Alex: Oof, not great. I was an idiot to let them believe I didn't care for them as much I did - as much as I still do - and that's one of my biggest regrets. I was so relieved when they agreed to get back together; I'd felt like I'd been drowning without them but as soon as they were by my side, I could breathe again.
That's so romantic! I think my next few questions will be for Grayson!
Grayson: (with a nervous smile) I'm ready.
What was the hardest thing for you when MC disappeared?
Callie: (scoff) Jeez, Alli; don't hold back.
(Nora shushes Callie.)
Grayson: (after clearing his throat) You mean besides losing my best friend? I guess losing MC meant losing myself in a way. For so long I'd seen us as me and MC that when it was suddenly just me, I didn't really know how to act anymore. I don't think I'll ever be the same person I was ten years ago.
(Kelsey reaches out to rub his back and he gives her a tight-lipped smile.)
That must've been tough. We've talked quite a bit about the past and favourite memories; do you have one of the MC?
Grayson: My fourteenth birthday. I was supposed to spend it with my dad, but he had to work so MC did everything they could to cheer me up. I think about that day a lot whenever I need a smile.
And how did you realise that you were in love with them?
(He blinks in surprise but quickly regains his composure, his face red.)
Grayson: I guess when I started to look forward to seeing them every day. I'd wake up thinking about them, wondering what we'd do and talk about, and even if the day was objectively bad, I'd say it was good because I got to spend it with them.
I'll go easy on you for this last one: what's it like being a detective? Do you enjoy it as much as you think you would've enjoyed business?
Grayson: It's definitely... interesting. It's a lot more paperwork than I ever thought it would be, which is less than fun.
(Kelsey stifles a laugh and he cracks a smile at her reaction.)
Grayson: (cont.) But overall, I enjoy it; it's a lot different than business, that's for sure. As for whether I'd have enjoyed business more if I stayed... I'll never know for sure, but something tells me I made the right choice.
So mysterious... Let's pivot over to Kennedy!
Kennedy: (imitating Grayson) I'm ready.
(The cast laughs and Grayson does his best to hide a smile behind a look of annoyance.)
What made you choose teaching as a profession?
Kennedy: I always loved learning new things, no matter the subject so going to school every day was really exciting for me, unlike every other child alive, I'm sure. But one of the things that made it so great were the teachers who dedicated their lives to imparting their wisdom and knowledge. I wanted to have that same kind of impact.
And what do you like most about teaching?
Kennedy: Probably seeing that impact in action. (Smiling) So many students come in and out of my classroom and I love knowing that I had a hand, or even just a pinky finger, in getting them where they want to be in life.
On the subject of students... do you have a favourite?
Kennedy: (with a stifled laugh) What kind of teacher would I be if I answered that question?
So that's a 'yes'?
(She makes a gesture of sealing her lips.)
Okay, how about my next question; what do you look for in a partner?
(She thinks for a moment before nodding decisively)
Kennedy: All the usual things; patience, kindness, a sense of humour... someone who I can spend the whole day with without having to say a word in order to be comfortable or show my love for them. Someone I can trust wholeheartedly to catch me when I fall, to lead me when I can't see.
Do you think you've met such a person yet?
Kennedy: (with a wistful smile) Possibly.
Alright, don't tell me... I've got some questions for Callie.
Callie: Hit me.
What's your favourite thing on the menu at the restaurant?
Callie: That mom makes? I'd kill a man for her calzone. But if we're talking about my personally curated dessert menu; I simply can't choose, they're all perfect. (Beat) With that being said, I always recommend the beignets to anyone who'll listen.
Good to know... did you always want to be a pastry chef?
Callie: (shrug) Guess so. I did get forklift certified a couple years back but there's just something about baking that kept pulling me back.
Alex: I think the something you're looking for is that baked goods are delicious.
Callie: (nodding) That'll do it.
My next question is a bit of a hard hitter... what is one thing you've always wanted to say to MC but never did?
Callie: My favourite colour is sage green.
(Nora nudges them, giving them a meaning look and they roll their eyes before crossing their arms over their chest and looking at the floor.)
Callie: Fine, I guess... I don't want to you to hate me. I know I wasn't the best sibling to you, especially those few years before you disappeared, I wasn't very nice, but I didn't mean it. (They take a deep breath.) For a while I was jealous of you... you had more friends than I ever did, you were better at a lot of things than me, you knew dad a lot longer than me... I thought it was unfair, but it was even more unfair for me to take it out on you even though it wasn't your fault. Then you disappeared and I was just so angry at myself for wasting so much of our time together resenting you -
(They're cut off by a choked sob and Nora quickly wraps her arms around them.)
Callie: (crying) I'm sorry, MC; please don't hate me.
They don't hate you, Cal; I can promise you that. (Beat) To wrap everything up, my last few questions are for Demetri.
Demetri: This should be fun... let's hear it then.
First question: what is wrong with you?
(He snorts, hiding his laughter behind a fist.)
Demetri: How much time do you have?
Evidently, not enough... next question: why did you leave your family ten years ago?
Demetri: (with a sad smile) You know I can't answer that.
I had to ask. I suppose I'll settle for the next best thing: do you regret leaving?
Demetri: Yes, it was the worst decision I've ever had to make.
Knowing how everything turned out, would you do it again if given the choice?
(Nora watches him with tears in her eyes and he turns his head to look at her and Callie, an unreadable look on his face.)
Demetri: Yes. (He looks away and Nora squeezes her eyes shut causing tears to slip down her face.) There's nothing I'd change either.
Well; this has all been very... enlightening. Thank you so much for joining me today and thank you to everyone who sent in questions. Couldn't have done it without you! And now, as they say in the biz; it's Christmas, let's go home!

Babylon Rises
What Comes Before-An Introduction
Sleep had never been Nesta's friend.
Lavender oil, chamomile tea, yoga, melatonin- pretty promises that she'd land within the Sandman's grasp. Like the desperate do she tried them all and watched them fail. Her new nightime routine a pilates princess' wet dream, mood lighting and steaming mugs of flower water and the gentle stretching of aching muscles, was aesthetically pleasing and utterly useless.
***
In her youth it had seemed like a superpower.
She did not bow to the night.
Her resistance to rest had been useful when cramming for finals, turning pages in the wee hours in the Aberaes wing, Redbull night shakes entirely unnecessary. It had carried her through college and the early trials of corporate law.
In those hazy days of young adulthood, dancing to club music into the wee hours, glitter dusting her skin and coke her nose, it felt like being invincible. Frenzied messy fucking one hour, dabbing Velvet Teddy on her lips on the corporate commute the next.
Stilettos sharp, mind sharper- Nesta fucking Archeron.
***
But as 35 came and went, marked by middling sushi and excellent company, the creeping fear began.
"You know Nes, averaging 2 hours sleep isn't healthy for you."
Gwyn was in doctor mode, from the worried tilt of her fine brows to her crossed arms as she leaned across the glass table, her matcha pushed to the side.
"Yeah I know. I know. I'm on it, I swear G, just don't tell Em."
"Don't tell Em what?"
The familiar voice floated from somewhere behind her.
Fuck.
***
Nesta eyed her double shot macchiato and wondered for a brief hopeful moment if she could drown herself in it, before turning guiltily to meet her friend's hard stare.
"The tea you gave me didn't work."
"Well shit, Archeron. That should have cleared any grade 5 spirits. What the fuck is clinging to you?"
Emerie shook her head, waves of ebony curls writhing in shared disbelief.
Claiming a seat beside Gwyn, her friend pursed her blue-stained lips in a familiarly threatening way and Nesta found the celebration rapidly descending into an inquisition.
***
The grilling was nothing new.
The same roladex of suspects was resurrected each time- stress, diets, spirits. Each had their favourite.
Gwyn, doctor and yogi claimed it was stress. Her friend, a research fiend, sent links to Pubmed every second day on the hormonal and immunological consequences of stress. In a way that, ironically, did little but exacerbate the pressure she felt.
Nesta hoped for diet, lived in faith that eliminating some carb or nightshade or sugar would bring her the peace of a full REM cycle. And if she dropped from a size 14 to an 8 in the process, then maybe Elain would stop sending her emails about spin classes in that passively bitchy way of hers.
Emerie's theory was the strangest by a mile.
"I'm telling you Nes, with all due respects to any of Berdara's papers this problem is one on the spiritual plane."
The demon-hunter raised an ornately manicured hand as Gwyn opened her mouth.
"Before you start, I don't doubt for a second Archeron could do with taking that stick out of her ass, Berdara."
Gwyn settled back in her seat as Nesta huffed indignantly.
"Whatever this is, it has serious mojo. I'm getting worried, the Illyrian dream traps I've placed around your room are filling far too quickly."
"We live in a haunted house Em, that's not exactly surprising."
Nesta retorted, her eyes tightening as the familiar pulsing in her temples that preceded her routine migraines began.
Today was not going as planned.
"I know the girl who became a mere believer a decade ago isn't lecturing me. I am a hunter Archeron and this isn't my first rodeo."
Emerie's eyebrows raised in challenge.
"I'm not. Definitely not. But Em, like you said I'm just a believer, and only that because I know you. I've no affiliation to the Other. It seems more likely it could be dairy, I was..'
Gwyn's sigh caused the pretty waitress to glance up from her physics textbook at the counter, before returning to her work following Nesta's bashful wave.
"I cannot listen to the potential dastardly powers of brie again, Nesta. That is well trodden ground. Let the rodeo queen continue."
Emerie flipped the redhead the bird before continuing.
"The Others are less concerned with bothering the Unseeing than we are topside. So it doesn't matter that you can't See. They don't exactly mind their manners or well, I'd be shit out of a job. Lucky for you, I happen to be very good at said job."
Pausing, Em reached into the chest pocket of her favourite leather trench, before pulling out an egg sized red jewel with a look of sheer triumph.
"Is that a ruby?"
Gwyn gasped.
Emerie scoffed before muttering dryly.
"Easy to stay humble with you two. "
"This is no mere ruby. This, my idiots, is an Illyrian protection stone. A rumoured fable, I hold the first found in three centuries reportedly."
"By you?"
"Yes by me, Archeron."
Emerie harrumphed.
"You could sound slightly less skeptical especially considering it's for you."
With that Emerie stretched her tattooed palm across the table and dropped the stone in Nesta's palm.
With a lupine smile she added.
"Go buy me another Americano and I'll tell you how I've saved your life. Add a shot of caramel, it's the least you can do for your saviour Nessie."
***
In the sticky blackness of the Other Cassian awakened and mountains moved. With the crack of his wings the promise of war grew ripe in the air.
In his slumber much had changed.
Babylon had fallen. Like him.
But she had found him.
His mate.
And so, like the tide he would rise.
And find his way to her.

What the first DW 60th special meant to me, a 19yo trans guy
I'm going to begin by first giving some context for things because I owe so much of who I am as a person and my plans for the future to Doctor Who. I grew up in England so naturally was exposed to Doctor who at a young age but wasn't allowed to watch it at first since my parents considered me to be too young, which was fair, they do aim to scare kids a lot which I think is great.
My first proper introduction to Doctor Who was through my year 5 teacher at school. I was very lucky to have year 5 align with the 50th anniversary since my year 5 teacher was a massive whovian. Our tables in the classroom we're labelled as different Doctor Who villains (I was on the Sontaran table). My wonderful wonderful teacher was also incredibly creative, and so we had a Doctor Who week at school and made lots of cool complex Doctor Who themed creations, including a lifesize dalek out of cardboard and gumstrip. It was awesome.
That week and that teacher got me into Doctor Who and from there I began devouring as much Doctor Who content as I could, including Doctor Who confidential. Doctor Who Confidential combined with the special features on the Harry Potter movies were the starting point to where I am now as a film student at university with the aims to be a professional actor (with far flung hopes of maybe one day being in doctor who).
Now to anyone who has been on the internet for the past couple years and has seen what JK Rowling has been doing with her place on it, you will see a point of contention there with Harry Potter and my earlier stated fact of being a trans man. Harry Potter was a big piece of my childhood but all of that has been taken away and Doctor Who has remained as somewhere that is mostly safe for me to turn to.
I say mostly due to the fact that the show, and in a more overt scene from its spin off, Torchwood, has from time to time made jest of trans people, however this was a reflection of the time in which those episodes were made, and at this stage I am used to media with trans people as the butt of the joke.
The long and short of it is that Doctor Who was a major part of my childhood, and has lead directly to where I am today as a film student. I have friends that I wouldn't have if it were not for our shared love of the show, even my first boyfriend was someone I first connected with through talking about Doctor Who.
I am now no longer a child, but not far from having been one, and the 60th anniversary has been something that I have been looking forward to greatly. When I saw that Yasmin Finney had been cast in the show for the 60th anniversary I was over the moon, but I never expected for the show to address her character being trans, especially as an integral part of the plot.
One of my favourite moments was the discussion between Donna and Sylvia about Rose in the kitchen. It was so real and accurate and well handled. I'm personally not in the same position as Rose with the acceptance from her family, but this has given me hope that things may change, that my parents will maybe start to actually deal with me being trans, and maybe even accept it.
This episode brought all of the classical style and flair and fun of Doctor Who, and addressed and celebrated something that is so integral to who I am as a person, I've been screaming about it to any and all of my friends who will listen.
This episode means so much to me because it celebrates transgender identities on an incredibly popular show, in an episode that is going to be one of the most viewed episodes of the show.
Thank you Doctor Who. Thank you for giving me hope.

In Dreams
Bed bargain: [Isabelle] won’t stay in bed. [Thomas] convinces them.
In a perfect world, Thomas would have lived.
He might not have won the duel but he would have survived the wound, and Isabelle and her father would have seen that his affections were honest and true and that he was willing to defend her honour with his own life. She might have kissed him right then and there as he lay against the tree and was being treated by the doctor – just like he had told Alison in a desperate attempt to hide the truth about his broken heart and lonely death. The letter in his pocket would have been forgotten and in its place happy promises been made.
They would have married in the summer. Thomas could see it all in his mind – the bright blue skies stretching endlessly for miles above their heads; the blinding sunlight highlighting the smile on Isabelle’s face; the roses everywhere around them in bloom, filling the air with their sweet fragrance. Isabelle would look radiant in her wedding dress, like Aphrodite come to life. More beautiful than the goddess, even. Thomas would give her a rose, white as snow and pure as Isabelle’s smile when they leaned in to kiss in front of everyone to seal their vows, and Isabelle would pin it in her hair before they danced together and laughed and lived.
Their first child would be born a year or two later – a girl, Thomas’s little Marigold. She would have to fight her way into the world, aided by her mother, and be loved all the more for her strength. Thomas would dote on her and rarely allow her to be taken away from him. With Marigold nestled safely in his arms, he would sit with Isabelle and gently encourage her with sweet kisses and love-filled prose to stay in bed and give her body the time it needed to heal after the difficult birth. He would sing her songs, would read to her from her favourite book, would point out the silly shapes the clouds formed in the sky outside the window – anything to keep her smiling and make her recovery easier for her to bear. It would not be easy but Thomas would not utter a single word of complaint. How could he when every second he spent with Isabelle felt like a gift?
A few years later, they would welcome another child into the world: sweet William who had Isabelle’s eyes and Thomas’s nose, the poor lad. Young Will would ensure that Higham House would be known as Thorne House for the next two-hundred years – a legacy that came at a cost. His birth would be even more difficult than Marigold’s had been; would last longer and be more complicated. It would almost cost Isabelle her life and affect her health for the rest of her days. She would be forced to stay in bed for weeks afterwards and this time, Thomas’s helpless attempts to make her smile would fail and he would bear the brunt of her frustration more than once.
It would test their marriage like nothing else had before and while Thomas would consider the year after Will’s birth the hardest of his life, he would still look back on it with a smile because he knew it could have been so much worse. Isabelle’s anger at him, at the world, at herself was no hardship to face when he reminded himself that he could have lost her, could have lost William too if things had just gone a little differently.
This life he’d never lived haunted Thomas’s dreams every year when Isabelle’s Death Day came around. He had been by her side back then, had watched her wither away like a flower without sunlight after the birth of her second child, unable to hold her hand or open the curtains to show her that the sun still shone in the world outside. When at last she succumbed to her illness and the light took her away, he had shed the tears Francis hadn’t cried for her before Robin had gently steered him out of the room and away from her body.
Thomas couldn’t be sure things would have turned out differently for her if he hadn’t been so foolish on that fateful October day but he knew he would have cared for Isabelle more than Francis ever had. He would have seen that she was happiest when in the company of him and their children and made sure to be with her when she fell ill so she would not have felt alone for even a minute.
Maybe his love, the love of their children, the love for them, might have been enough to grant them a happily ever after.
In Thomas’s dreams, it always was.

Rhi!!! Congrats on 200, my dear!
So, this might be slightly self indulgent, but how do we think Mikey boy would take care of his partner with a chronic illness on a bad day?
hi pheebs! thank you so much <3
this is so sweet and soft, and i'm definitely in a fluffy mood after all of the mind-blowing smut i have written and consumed in the last 72 hours 😭
i hope that i can do this justice for you, and would welcome any feedback if you feel this is inaccurate. here goes:

michael can see it in your face, in the way your lashes flutter as your eyelids grow heavy, and the way your breath is strained
today's gonna be a tough one
he gets up from the bed to put the kettle on, getting out your favourite mug, and your favourite tea
while it's boiling, he goes back to the bedroom where you're lying on your side, eyes closed and legs tucked up to your chest. your forehead crinkles slightly as the pain ebbs and flows
michael sits next to you, eyes softening as he brushes his hand on the curve of your jaw, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
he tilts his chin towards you, pursing his lips. seeing you in pain makes him angry
it makes him so angry that his eyes go dark and his fists curl, so tightly his nails leave red half-moons in the skin, so tightly that you have to pry them back open
he hates seeing you in pain. all he wants to do is take it away from you. it's a hard thing for him to accept, that he can't just trade your health for his, or shoot it...
but he tries his best to support you, and take care of you, through every day; good or bad
moments later he returns with a steaming mug of tea, setting it down on the bedside table next to you
he can see you shivering, so he gets out a pair of your fuzzy socks, and gently slips them on your feet
he lifts the covers right up to your chin, tucking you snugly underneath, making sure you're as warm as possible
'how can i help today, love?' he asks, running his fingers through your hair as you take a deep breath
your words come out in a small groan
he presses a kiss to your forehead. 'say that again for me, love?'
'just... just be here w'me, yeah, mikey? oh and maybe panadol. and a heat pack. please' you whisper, reaching out from under the duvet to grab his hand
'how bad out of 10?' he furrows his brow, watching as you bite down on your lip, clutching your hands to your chest
you're struggling to breathe a little. '8 today, mikey'
'd'ya need me to call the doctor?' he reaches for his phone
as you squeeze your eyes shut and your head rolls back, the next wave of pain coursing through your body, michael gets up to make a call in the next room
you hear it faintly. 'yeah, frank, can't do nothin' for you today. gotta stay here.' a moment of silence. 'pain's bad today. mmhm. yeah.'
'sorry i can't stop by. let birdy know she's welcome to drop off the food'
michael hangs up, ruffling the back of his head as he sits back down next to you, his hand going straight back to stroking your hair
'everything alright with frank, mikey?' you ask, swallowing a gulp as you blink your eyes open slowly. michael's smiling down at you, a peaceful expression on his face
a muscle feathers in his jaw. 'grand, love, just grand. told him i'm stayin' here today. not gonna leave your side at all'
you press your lips into a small, grateful smile. 'i love you mikey, i think i need that today'
he caresses your jaw. 'you come first, love. always'

Get to know the writer!
What’s your phone wallpaper: Akiyama Shun being his charming self with a matching ringtone (his battle theme from Y5).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last song you listened to: 'Dress' by Abingdon Boys School (a BUCK-TICK cover and which everyone should see live with Takanori being the biggest Atsushi fanboy to have ever lived - honestly, date someone that looks at you like Takanori looks at Atsushi, haha).
Currently reading: The last version of the OECD's Transfer Pricing Guidelines (going back and forward between chapters I and III) - strongly recommended if you ever have trouble sleeping.
Last movie: Suzume no Tojimari - what a masterpiece, I cannot recommended it enough.
Last show: I'm watching both The Orville and Succession right now!
What are you wearing right now: A t-shirt that reads 'terra & fogo & vento & água & coração' aka the 5 elements required to summon Captain Planet in Portuguese (the entire 'pela união dos seus poderes, eu sou o Capitão Planeta! / VAI, PLANETAAAA!' catchphrase lives rent-free in my mind), plus jean shorts.
Piercings / tattoos?: I have just my ears pierced; tattoo-wise, I have a special geometrical design on the inner side of my left arm that I share with my 2 best friends and the letters LLAP on the inside of my right wrist (they stand for 'Live Long And Prosper', the traditional Vulcan salute from Star Trek and which I got as a tribute for my dad after he passed and before I moved abroad).
Glasses? Contacts?: Both - I use contacts most of the time, but glasses when I wake up/before going to bed to give my eyes a break.
Last thing you ate?: Nachos with guacamole as a mid-afternoon snack, very healthy haha.
Favorite color: It used to be a mix of blue, black and silver but honestly I've gravitated a lot towards some shades of green & purple lately.
Current obsession: Making a monster!verse for Melissa inspired after a few things from VtR, sci-fi content in varied forms, Fiona from Tales from the Borderlands (and getting my blog URL for her back from tumblr hell) and trying to balance classes and sightseeing before I return home.
Do you have a crush right now?: I am always crushing on Catherine Zeta-Jones. :) And several other impossibly beautiful celebrities, haha.
Favourite fictional character: I have so many, haha. Obsessions over the years have been varied but I think Captain Jack Sparrow likely has the #1 spot in my heart if you look at it from a time perspective and the sheer amount of things I own. But honestly - Jack Sparrow (PotC), Akiyama Shun (RGG), Aranea Highwind (FFXV), Balthier (FFXII), the Tenth Doctor (DW), Leonard 'Bones' McCoy & Data (TOS & TNG, respectively), Lestat de Lioncourt (IwtV), Eirene Campbell (PtN)... I could be here all day, haha. And Melissa, of course!
Tagged by: I have subtly stolen this from @rebelichor, haha. :3 Tagging: everyone else - you should steal from me and keep the stealing cycle alive!

Tag Game To Better Know You! Send this to people you’d like to know better!
Thank you @fizzycherrycola and @hetagrammy for tagging me <3
What book are you currently reading?
Currently, and very slowly, making my way through How to be a Victorian. I haven't had a lot of free time to be able to read as much as would want to this year. I hope next year when I change my job, I'll find something that gives me more time to do so.
What’s your favourite movie you saw in theatres this year?
I'm like, trying to reach back in my mind all the movies I've seen this year in theaters. The Menu was a really fun watch for the most recent thing I watched. Bullet Train was also a ride, pun intended. I'm trying to remember what I watched in theaters versus at home and honestly, I think I watched a lot of movies that were released this year at home.
What do you usually wear?
In warm or hot weather, t-shirt, cargo shorts and flip flops. In cold weather, loose cut jeans, t-shirt, flannel, hoodie, and either converse or boots.
How tall are you?
As tall as Arthur's canon height.
What’s your Star Sign? Do you share a birthday with a celebrity or a historical event?
Capricorn and I share a birthday with the day the Treaty of Ghent ended the War of 1812
Do you go by your name or a nick-name?
Irl I go by my real name but everywhere online I go by Ace
Did you grow up to become what you wanted to be when you were a child?
Nope :) I wanted to either be a marine biologist or an author. I'm a 5th-grade teacher and my life has been in constant stress and pain since.
Are you in a relationship? If not, who is your crush if you have one?
Yes, I am happily married 💗
What’s something you’re good at vs. something you’re bad at?
What am I good at: retrieving information and remembering trivial knowledge, writing, making quick and stupid memes, singing, and point-and-click adventure games
What I'm bad at: cooking, effectively communicating my feelings and wants and needs, any sort of physical activity, drawing, knowing any brand or type of car like help me, and telling when people are lying
Dogs or cats?
Cats 🐈
If you draw/write, or create in any way, what’s your favourite picture/favourite line/favourite etc. from something you created this year?
Honestly, my favorite piece I've written this year was Come Ashore for Rack and Ruin, like, I feel like the whole piece just came together and felt really good to write. Same with the second chapter of Dreams of Philadelphia. These are my favorite lines from them respectively:
Matthew didn’t fall anywhere special, he didn’t stand out amongst any of the other dead Canadian soldiers that Alistair finally stumbled across. His body lay upright and Alistair risked a precious second to push the lad’s goggles to his forehead to reveal glossed-over, grey-blue eyes staring towards the heavens; maybe the lingering spirit of Matthew could see it a little clearer now. Like everyone, he was covered in gore and mud. Alistair didn’t think the lad could be any quieter than he already was. Silent as a church mouse now quiet as a Catholic grave.
A place Alfred had long associated with life and freedom, one of the birthplaces of who he was reeked of death. Open windows that once lead way to cheerful laughter and freshly made apple butter now let the souls of the dead pass through as well as the stench of decay.
What’s something you would like to create content for?
A dream would be to write something similar to the American Girl books, some good historical fiction for a younger audience to get young readers interested in history but not just for America but for other countries as well.
What’s something you’re currently obsessed with?
Other than Hetalia? Furthering continuing my downfall of being a 2012 tumblr entity by rewatching Doctor Who.
What’s something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year?
Honestly speaking my job. I was really looking forward to working at a school as an assistant and was proud to have been offered a higher position early on. I wanted to do well. I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to help teach these kids. Every step I take feels like a punishment like I made the wrong choice of what I'm doing.
What’s a hidden talent of yours?
Is being good at the Sims count? Like, I'm really good at decorating interiors and making Sims. Where on my resume can I put that I'm good at creating characters as well as aesthetic image boards.
The only thing I've surprised my wife with doing is being really good at handling all sorts of watercraft such as a jetski and kayak.
Are you religious?
Not really, no.
What’s something you wish to have at this moment?
An electric blanket, hot coffee, and a new pair of slippers. You cannot put a Californian in weather below 50 degrees.
I’m going to tag some folks to do this if they so wish: @the-phoenix-heart @the-aph-circus @senditothemoonn @myrddin-wylt @crumpled--notes

I first saw Doctor Who more than fifteen years ago now. The show literally changed my life and gave me my first full-blown obsession. I spent nearly every day reading Doctor Who magazines, books, playing with the toys and watching "figure adventures" on YouTube, made by fans. I even set about trying to make my own!
My childhood "playbus" became the set for a number of episodes. In one, it was an Adipose nursery and in another, it was a Dalek disco. I'm honestly surprised though that I didn't attempt to use it in a story inspired by my favourite Doctor Who episode of all. In tribute to this amazing show, now celebrating its 60th birthday, I designed a new "playbus" based on the Doctor and Christina's adventures on San Helios in "Planet Of The Dead".
(A fun story: I once helped make a summertime display for my local library, with children's art against a sand background. My Mum and I made a London bus, complete with the Doctor, aliens and Cliff Richard for good measure! 😂)

Today is August 4th 2023
Some time has passed (my bad) and you are as busy and interactive as ever!
You are so smiley and giggly and love to be silly with mum and dad. You are very ticklish on your sides and under your neck, love to play on your activity mat from your Auntie Justine (you grab all the toys that dangle above you with ease), and enjoy going outside (we try to avoid too much sun exposure since there isn't much shade where we live) but we got to test out a kitty pool this July which was lots of fun. You seemed a bit unsure, but you just chilled in the water anyways! Otherwise you and mum will go out into the backyard for short stints of time to get a little fresh air. Dad comes along on our walks, though!
However not everrrything has been (literal) sunshine and rainbows. You have begun your teething journey and are still working through that the best we can. You also have some not so good days when it comes to digestion and how gassy you get. Mum and dad try to help you best we can. And unfortunately we had to take your for an ultrasound at just 3 months old. You have a 3cm lump in your left jaw/cheek that we have had to get investigated by doctors. And next week, you go see a special doctor in London who can hopefully help tell us more about what we are dealing with. We know it is a type of engorged blood clot (more or less) so thankfully we have very smart doctors that can help guide us to the next step. It definitely makes mum and dad sad that you have to go through any of this at all so young. But we will get through it together, and mum and dad will be with you every step of the way ❤️
We celebrated mum's 29th birthday together for the first year ever! It was definitely the most fulfilling birthday I've EVER had. It was so special just because you were there with me!
We are in a good sleep routine for you now, too. You wake up about 7 am everyday, then nap around 10 am, awake by 12, back down by 2 pm, up again by 4pm or 5pm, then go to bed for the night at 8 pm! You sleep pretty solid, only waking up maybe 2 times at most through the night for milk and snuggles 🥰
You and mommy are just best buddies while I am off on maternity leave. It is so wonderful to be able to spend these precious moments of your life together. It warms my heart when I go into your room after you wake up from a nap, and you flail and squeal and smile when you see me! Before when you were just a tiny newborn you didn't seem to know what was going on, just that you knew you were fed and warm. Now that you recognize me and show me you love me too, it is my absolute favourite part about motherhood so far. You are my tiny bestie. And I love you more than words can ever say.
I thought when I was pregnant that I knew you already, but watching you grow infront of me and develop this sweet, kind, silly personality, with this beautiful bright smile, all wrapped up into the cutest little chubby baby package, I realize now I had no idea the blessing I was in for.
I don't know what I did in life to deserve you Nora Bean, but I'm so glad I did it. I love you, I love you, I love you!
-your mom ❤️

Fandom Recap! - Raglowe's 2022 Edition
OKAY, THIRD ATTEMPT AT WRITING THIS WITHOUT TUMBLR EATING IT, LET’S GO!!
I’ve been back for about a week or so and I’m settling in nicely. Genuinely enjoying being back so much! I'm using the queue more and having a lot more of a relaxed time here than when I was active last.
Thank you so much for sticking with me!
Tumblr media
Since it's been awhile, I wanted to do a rundown on my interests. ! It’s also super fun to reflect on how things have changed in fandom over the past few years.
Let’s get to it!
OLD STUFF I AM/WAS INTO
---------
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
“Riiiiise of the--”
Tumblr media
Ninja Turtles is so entwined with my DNA at this point, even if I can’t watch things on the regular any more. I’m still here though! Happily vibing away passively.
While I haven’t watched Rise of the TMNT series yet (tried the first ep, wasn’t my cup of tea, but I want to try again), I’ve managed to sit down and watch the movie.
D u d e.
Tumblr media
RotTMNT, genuinely, has some of my favourite takes on the main cast. Changing things up while still keeping everyone true to character is such a hard needle to thread but I think the creative team stuck the landing. Especially with Leo being more chill and arrogant without the pressures of being a leader. I love it!
I’ve also been keeping up with IDW. If you’re a new turtle fan and want to get into more of the franchise, I can’t recommend it enough. It brings in some fresh takes on old characters while giving room to new characters as well.
Being a turtle fan is fantastic right now between Rise and Shredder's Revenge, and I do really feel we are in a new renaissance period. Keeping an eye out for Mutant Mayhem news next year!
Batman/DC Comics
“I am vengeance. I am the night. I am—“
Tumblr media
I was originally writing this the day before word broke about Kevin Conroy. It’s… rough. And it really made me reflect on how I have been feeling about Batman recently.
These past few years saw me fall out of love a bit with Batman and DC Comics. I love these characters and this universe so much but I started to feel lost with it. From the movies through to the Nu52 comics, I just really wasn’t vibing with the darker tone I was seeing more of. But I always had that familiar, comforting thought that we had some of the old regular voices still reprising their roles.
That has certainly changed now.
Tumblr media
Kevin Conroy was a man that I didn’t – and still don’t – know about in detail save for glimpses into his personality from interviews and his close friends sharing memories of him. He was kind. Empathetic. Talented and insightful. Full of love, passion, and genuine joy and admiration for his fans all over the world. And he was probably one of the few people who fully understood Batman dual nature on a fundamentally deep and personal level.
I want to revisit Batman again after hearing these stories about him. His joy and celebration of DC and Batman is truly infectious, especially after seeing his interviews.
I’m keen to give new things a go too! Batman 2022 in particular looks like a fun take on things, and I’ve been falling back in love after seeing The Suicide Squad (2022) and Peacemaker’s TV series. Genuinely, thank you James Gunn for reminding me how much I love DC, and thank you Kevin Conroy for reminding me how much I love Batman.
Especially Kevin Conroy. Thank you. So much.
youtube
Doctor Who
“Allons-y!”
Tumblr media
Boy did I pick a time to come back to Doctor Who.
Around the end of 11’s run I was getting weary with Doctor Who. I really wasn’t liking Moffat’s writing style and wasn’t a fan of how I was being a wet blanket about it. Chipnal’s run wasn’t for me either. So, I took a step back. I checked out some of Capaldi and Whitaker’s episodes between then and now – I love their takes on the Doctor so much! I don't think most of the eps are for me, but I love the highlights I've seen!
But here we are now, with Russel T Davis back and David Tennant back (at least temporarily).
Tumblr media
As much as I love Tennant’s Doctor, I’m honestly far more excited to see Ncuti Gatwa finally get his chance to show us his Doctor. I’ve heard nothing but praise for his acting and really excited to see what stories he will get to weave with Davis. (Though having Tennant back as the Doctor temporarily is a fun bonus too!)
I've otherwise been having a great time listening to Big Finish stories. Been a great way to experience the older Doctors and gaining a love and appreciation for all of Who these days. Really happy I did that!
Pokemon
“So, what? I'm lower than a Pokemon?! I already got self-esteem issues, man!”
Tumblr media
While Scarlet/Violet have been buggy as all hell, I’m having a ton of fun with Pokemon! I haven’t missed a game still and I’m so excited to see what direction future games will head in. (Also please Game Freak, slow your mainline game rollout so people can fix the bugs more… please…)
Round up via generations! From most recent to least!
GEN 9 - Scarlet/Violet: About a third of the way through Scarlet right now. Really starting to like more of the new Pokemon designs. Grafaiai is a current frontline favourite for Gen 9 with me!
Legends of Arcus & Pokemon Snap: LoA was such a highlight for me. It was super fun and I’m still needing to get through end-game, but I’m having a ton of fun when I get the chance. And the new Pokemon Snap was a fun surprise to boot! So many fun ways to see Pokemon in the wild again.
GEN 8 - Sword/Shield: It was a fun time! I think this game does world building the best of all the games so far (yes, even over Scarlet/Violet). The gym leaders in them are probably some of my overall favourites so far! I wasn't as sold on the story, but man, seeing Pokemon as an actual competitive sport like soccer is still one of my favourite things to see
GEN 7 - Sun/Moon: Did you know that I was completely unaware that Guzma was a Tumblr Sexy Man until the Tumblr Sexy Man voting meme went viral? Hell yeah everyone good taste. On a serious note - loved these games a lot, and I think Team Skull became my favourite evil team after playing it. Love these knuckleheads.
Gen 3/4 Remakes: I played a lot of Alpha Sapphire when it came out! Really loved how they did shiny hunting with it. Wasn't so keen on Diamond/Pearl's remake, which is a shame since I really love those games. Still at the first gym with it... hopefully I can get time to play soon!
Tumblr media
Hopefully we can see some bug fixes with Scarlet/Violet. I'm so keen to see what else is ahead in this game!
Warcraft/Overwatch
“The world could always use more heroes!”
Tumblr media
This is… a rough one. I love Warcraft. I love Overwatch. I love both worlds. However, I’m not keen to be in those worlds much these days.
For Warcraft, I’m not a big fan of how the storytelling is going. And that’s fine! If it’s not my cup of tea, I’m happy to step back. Same with character direction in Overwatch. Again, nothing wrong with this. At times you and franchises you love grow into different things. The time together is none-the-less treasured.
There’s also external issues with Blizzard that have been well documented. I won’t be going into them, but they do not align with my morals (to say the least).
Tumblr media
Always happy to reblog any Junkrat art or Warcraft silliness if I see them, but for now I'm done with both. They’ll always be a part of me! But I'm happily moving onto other games in the meantime.
Homestuck
“Dave: oh shit”
Tumblr media
Yes, I know about the Epilogues and HS^2. Yes, I read them. No, they aren’t for me and that’s okay.
Other stuff
Tumblr media
I’m still into a lot of things still! Still loving Lupin III, still happily reflecting on Mass Effect (haven’t played Andromeda still, just need time to play it!), and just having a grand old time living life.
If you want my thoughts on anything I’ve missed here, give a shout and I’ll reply!
Meanwhile, I’ve gotten into other things too!
NEW STUFF I’M INTO!
---------
FFXIV
“Remember us. Remember that we once lived.”
Tumblr media
I’m not kidding when I say this – I genuinely think that FFXIV is going to be looked at as “video games as epic literature” one day in the far future. But with more big tiddy bun girls.
It’s such a wonderful winding tale where every character feels full of an important weight and value, ranging from minor characters through to major players. It is so wonderful to see and it’s such a contrast to what I’m used to with Warcraft!
Tumblr media
I’ve been playing for about a year now, even though I originally picked up the game in about… 2018? 2016? It’s been awhile. But I needed a hook. So, I powered on through with friends and that was the hook I needed at the end of the day. Shadowbringer has been the peak of it all for me, but each expansion just keeps building up and up!
There have been so many character journeys that I’ve become attached to, and a lot of character growth that feels natural and earned. Won’t ramble too much here, but I have been enjoying everything immensely!
Splatoon
“Stay Fresh~”
Tumblr media
I’ve always been interested in Splatoon but never quite really jumped on. I was a bit too late for the hype for Splatoon 2 (alas, never really experienced a proper Splatfest in there) but I really fell in love with the world. Hearing Splatoon 3 get announced got me excited and I’m so happy to see how much love it’s getting!
Also, no joke, the deep lore on this game is wild. I love it. Please read it one day if you get the chance. It’s hilarious and heartbreaking. Look, if we all wipe ourselves out, just know we’ve got squid kids to learn from our old memes at least.
(Also, Off the Hook is the best idol group, I’m sorry Deep Cut!)
Borderlands
“I just bought a pony made of diamonds! Because I'm rich.”
Tumblr media
Tales From the Borderlands was running rings around me back when I was on Tumblr, but I just couldn't afford to play it back then (my computer was struggling to run smaller games ahahah;; ). I was curious but never enough to play it. So in my time away I eventually went “alright, show me what you’ve got”.
Yeah… yeah I regret not getting into this sooner.
Tumblr media
Borderlands in general is such a fun world! I’m so glad I got to eventually experience it! I’ve played through the whole catalogue save for Pre-Sequel, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and New Tales now. Original TFTB also has the honour of being “game that made me cry with laughter” so that’s a big tick in my book.
I’ve defs played through Borderlands 3 as well. Gameplay was great! Story was good but I was missing some of the dramatic meat, but it absolutely brought the heat with DLC.
Tumblr media
And yes, can confirm, Handsome Jack is an absolute bastard, 10/10 fantastic horrible dude, deserves all the hate and love.
The lack of a presence on the Tumblr Sexyman list when he had such a chokehold over Tumblr back in the day is a travesty :(
Genshin Impact
“Hey Traveller! Over here!”
Tumblr media
So, I’m not so much into Genshin right now but I’m slowly warming to it. More here for the vibes and fanart than anything else.
Not too sure what else to say really. The characters seem fun! And people seem to be having fun with them. I think that's neat!

doe's destiel fic recs!
i've spent the better part of the last year reading destiel fanfic and losing my mind so here's a rec list! (this is not an exhaustive list of my favourites by any means, but these are the fics i have read multiple times because they just make me feel some type of way.)
Shut Up (Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is) by kototyph (Explicit, 24k, Modern AU) I've talked about this fic before, and I've honestly lost count of the number of times I've gone back to read it at this point. It's truly one of the most comforting reads of all time for me. It's fun, it's lighthearted, and it's an office romcom with an accidental vegas wedding and home restoration with the most adorable chracterizations of dean and cas and i LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!! it's, like, a MUST read!!! for sure!!
Muscle Memory by komodobits (Explicit, 19k, Modern AU) listen. at this point, i'd probably read a grocery list if komodobits wrote it from a cas pov, but out of all their fics, this one just attached itself to my brain and it won't leave, so here it is! This one's a bit of a 50 first dates au. cas has anteretrograde amnesia, but he's been dating dean for a few years now and it's their wedding day. the fic is super short but manages to paint a really beautiful picture of their life together, and the ending just breaks your heart. it's not sad, but it's not exactly happy either? when i tell you i sob every. single. time!!!!!
Rumor Has It by GatesKeeper (Teen, 6.7k, Modern AU) I don't usually *love* the idea of a celebrity au all that much, but GatesKeeper is just so good at writing them, man!! After I read Famous Last Words (which is one of my favourite fics of all time), I was making my way through the rest of their work, and I'm just obsessed with the way they do celebrity AUs honestly! Rumor Has It is a cute little 5+1 things fic where cas is a doctor and dean is a celebrity and they're keeping their relationship under the wraps. It's just one of those fics i read to make myself feel better whenever i'm in a mood (which is a lot). it's short and it's cute and it has no angst and dean and cas are absolutely adorable in it! i love the dynamic between cas and his friends at the hospital a lot, too! overall, just. very very very fluffy cute au and sooo worth checking out!
By Any Other Name by everandanon (Teen, 6.7k, Modern AU) I've said this before and i'll say it again - i'm a huge sucker when it comes to soulmate aus. i think i've read almost all soulmate aus under 100k that there are on destiel ao3 tbh. out of them all, this one is definitely my favourite. it's very angsty, but it's more pining than anything else. there's a nice little twist on the whole soulmate thing at the end, and most importantly, it's just very very pretty writing and i adore it so much!
oh my god, they were platonic co-parents by mikaylamazing (Gen, 3.4k, Modern AU) literally what it says on the tin! cas is a single dad, and dean is his roommate turned best friend turned accidental co-parent. they are idiots who are in love. they take jack to the grocery store to buy valentine's day cards for his kindergarten class. they BAKE BROWNIES!! it's disgustingly saccharine and never fails to put a smile on my face!
tell me about the dream by playedwright (Mature, 89k, post-s5 AU) this is another fic that i rec to everyone because of how absolutely heartwarming it is! it follows the events of s5. sam is in the cage, cas is human, and dean settles down with him and claire instead of lisa and ben, and they make the most adorable little unit ever! i've made friends who don't even watch supernatural read this because i just like it so much and needed people to talk to! as one of my really good friends put it - it's so hard to write the boring, mundane, everyday aspects of life and make them engaging, but this fic does it so goddamn well! this entire verse is actually so freaking cool, and i can't wait to see the sam & jack dynamic the author is exploring in the fourth part of it.
Ad Astra - latin ; "to the stars" by nhixxie (Teen, 17.4k, Canon-divergent AU) cas is a star! and he's watching over dean!!! there's hunting in this, and it pretty much follows dean's life. we see glimpses of the stanford era and early seasons stuff, too, but the angels are all stars! it's got such stunning writing, that i honestly did not even care about what was going on or if it made sense or anything else, really. just. trust me, it's a really nice read! also i just really love when fics are mostly cas pov and he's just this unknowable entity almost the entire time! it's really cool!
Good One's Gonna Be by remmyme (Explicit, 37k, S3 AU) this one's a mostly text fic, with bits and pieces of prose in there, and it's super, super fun! cas is human, dean accidentally texts him in the aftermath of the episode hollywood babylon and they strike up an unlikely friendship. fall in love. do stupid things. you know, the usual. plot ensues, in simpler words. i just really, really love this fic! i think i've read this fic every other month or so since the first time i read it last year, and i never tire of it, honestly! also there is a really fun plot twist - not exactly unpredictable, but really fun - towards the end, and if y'all like fics that center cas, you might really enjoy it!
okay so like i said, this is not an exhaustive list of my favourites by any means but i've been itching to do one of these rec lists for ages because i just keep accumulating bookmarks and the book blogger in me was screaming so here! let me know how you like them if you have read/do read any of these! byeeeeeeeeee

Thank you so much for all your hard work, I love you so much and I wish more blessings comes your way! Thank you so much for making my day brighter whenever I read your stories, I love you and have a great day!♡♡♡
Part 1
Hello bby, thank you for coming back to request again! Thank you for loving my work! ♡
Langris Vaude x F! reader
It only took 5 days for Langris to come back to you with good news. 5 days. You've heard of so many cases where commoners make a report and they wait for months for news. But yours? Less than a week.
It only took 1 day for Langris to get the guy to confess to his crimes AND write the detailed report to submit. The vice captain personally interrogated the man, aka Carlos, one to one. When he left the room, man was shaking and nobody knew what Langris had said or done.
The next day he went to the magic parliament and got this case to be escalated with evidences that this man was a repeated offender. The team helped him with this one; he made them run a back ground check on the 2 men in 6 hours.
Within 3 days the magic parliament came to Langris' office early in the morning, telling him that the court for this case would be scheduled in two days.
And here he was, standing outside your shop with you, breaking the good news. He watched as your face brightened up from the tiring day and your lips curled into this sweet and beautiful smile.
"oh my god," you exclaimed excitedly upon hearing the good news, "thank you so much, my mom and I appreciate this so much, Vice Captain Langris!"
His heart uncontrollably raced in his chest and he felt giddy from happiness like a kid getting his favourite candy. But of course, the cool and suave Langris had to play it cool, "it's a small case. How are your injuries?"
"Er.. I'm feeling much better now!" you beamed at him.
"Don't over work yourself, you're on light duty as told by the doctor, " he narrowed his eyes at you, "see you at court in 2 days."
"I'll try to, we're a little short on manpower during this busy season, plus now that we have to close 2 days later to attend court, we have to work doubly hard to cover for the rent.." you suddenly thought about the losses you'll make for that day, on top of the losses from the other day.
"tch." he sighed out loud, shaking his head as he walked into your shop.
"Hello Vice Captain Langris," your mom greeted him warmly, "thank you for the other day."
He shrugged and nodded politely to your mom and took out a bag of yuls, "how many more bowls are available until you're out?"
"oh! We still have a good 100 bowls to sell son, order as much as you want for your team, it's on the house!" your mom offered, thinking he wanted to grab dinner for his team.
"Give me 100 bowls to go then." he placed the bag of coins on the counter, "then go and rest for the day. Just put everything in a huge pot, I'll bring it and ask someone return it tomorrow."
Your mom and you blinked at him.
"What?" he snapped at the both of you, "if you don't have such a huge pot then just give half of it to me, no worries. Then pack up for the day after the current customers are done eating."
"N-no.. we do have a big pot.." Your mom was flabbergasted, "It's just no one made such a big order before..."
"Also, I'll book down your little restaurant tomorrow.." he paused awhile, thinking of an excuse, "It's Alec's birthday so I'll let them celebrate. Give me the bill to book down the restaurant for an entire day."
"Erm.. No one has done this before either.." your mom looked at Langris dumbfounded.
"Alright, just charge me as per the sales you make for a busy day then." Langris shrugged. "Is 3000 yuls enough?"
You tugged at Langris' sleeves from the side, "can we talk for a minute..?"
---
"What is it?" Langris questioned the moment you both were out of your mom's hearing.
"You don't have to do this for us..." you quickly said, "we owe you too much."
"Then just heed the doctor's advice and not over work yourself."
"But I can't be selfish and rest while my mother slogs herself out!" you suddenly cried out, "it's just what us commoners do, slog out our lives because we're not rich and cannot afford to rest unless we're dying and bedridden."
Langris raised a brow at your sudden outburst.
"We can never repay you for all your help.." you lowered your head.
"Who said anything about repaying?" he scoffed.
You glanced up at him, your gaze meeting his, who was staring intently at you.
"I'm a magic knight, a vice captain at that, isn't it my duty to serve my citizens? And can't I just buy 100 bowls of noodles to treat everyone in the Golden HQ for their hard work for the past week?" He continued with his white lie so you wouldn't feel bad.
"Also, is it wrong to book down a restaurant?" Langris looked into your e/c eyes, "since you said you owed us a favour so I thought booking your restaurant would be best, isn't it?"
You pursed your lips. This man said nothing wrong. Maybe you really thought too much into it. Maybe a small part of you had a little wishful thought; that maybe the Vice Captain of the Golden Dawn was interested in you.
"Cat got your tongue?" the sharp tongued Langris was back, "now can I get my noodles?"
---
Langris put down a huge pot on the desk with a loud thud. Everyone looked at him with the commotion he made.
"Noodles. Give it out to everyone, including Captain Vangeance. It's for the hard work in the past week." Langris simply said as he disappeared into his office again.
Every one stared at each other and the huge pot sitting on the desk in the middle of the office. Since when was Captain Langris so nice? They thought to themselves as they helped themselves to some noodles.
"Alecdora!" Langris called for the member into his office.
"Yes sir?" Alecdora came in holding a bowl of piping hot noodles.
"Bring some members to y/n restaurant tomorrow early evening. I booked the place. Don't create a mess and clean up after yourselves. Bring a cake and say it's your birthday. The food is on me. Leave the place by 830pm sharp."
"H-huh?" Alecdora was still trying to process what his Vice Captain just told him.
"Just do as I say, get out." he waved the man away as continued his paper work.
---
2 days later, you were well rested and recharged thanks to Alecdora and his team coming in so late in the day and leaving so early.
You and your mom saw Langris waiting for you at the entrance of the magic parliament.
"We have a prosecutor that will help you, while that idiot probably has his own defence lawyer. He'll lose 100%, so you just have to answer truthfully at whatever questions they ask you later on." he explained.
You were the victim and your mom was a witness. So Alecdora helped to bring your mom in to register while Langris brought you to meet your prosecutor.
"Don't be nervous, brat." he tried to console you, "you have 'worry' written all over your forehead."
"Stop teasing me!" you exclaimed, cheeks burning from embarrassment.
He stopped suddenly, standing very close to you all of a sudden. "As long as I'm here, you won't lose. Don't worry. I always keep my promises."
You heart was almost about to stop as you felt thousands of butterflies in your stomach.
"Th-thank you, Vice Captain Langris.." you spoke softly and shyly now. It was Langris' turn to have heat spreading across his face.
"What can I get you after this case is over?" you really wanted to do something for him for all his work, "I'll try to do anything you ask or get anything you want if it's within my means!"
"well then, since you insist..." a smirk crept up Langris' lips, "I want a date then. A day off. I'll bring you out."
He watched as you flustered, thinking about how cute you were.
"if you win the case later on, you'll be compensated handsomely, I believe.." he pretended to stroke his chin, although he had already studied and put in a proposal for the amount to be compensated to you, "you'll then have a good amount of money to hire someone, so you'll be free to go on a date with me, won't you?"
"..."
"Well, you don't have to if you don't want to," he tried hide his hurt feelings and turned away, continuing the walk to the prosecutors' office.
"Y-yes I'd really love to Vice Captain Langris!" you quickly said before catching up with him, "if you don't mind being seen on a date with a commoner.."
"Tsk." he rolled his eyes, "have you not heard me clear enough? As long as you're with me, I won't let anyone bully you."

TV | Leverage (Season 1, Rewatch)
Rewatch of the first season of TNT's LEVERAGE (2008-2012), created by John Rogers and Chris Downey together with Dean Devlin and his production company Electric Entertainment.
In anticipation of the show's reboot / revival / sequel LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION coming to IMDbTV on 09 July this year, I am rewatching the original 77 episodes and writing about my favourite moments and things from each episode, season by season.
(Just a note, this first season was aired out of order, so the dates won't actually form a chronology, since I'm going with the intended order rather than the one they were aired in.)
Tumblr media
101: THE NIGERIAN JOB
D: DEAN DEVLIN. W: JOHN ROGERS & CHRIS DOWNEY. Original Air Date: 07 December 2008.
I have lost count of how many times I have seen this episode (or any episodes of this show to be completely honest), but it holds up every single time. It is one of my favourite, if not the favourite TV pilot episode I have ever seen.
The way this pilot sets up who the main characters are and what the core of this show is, is simply perfect. The introduction of Nate at the bar being approached by Dubenich, then the intercut between him convincing Nate to do the job and the actual job happening -- just wonderful. The same goes for the individual introductions of the other players. Nate's comment about Parker ("no, but Parker is insane") which plants a thread for the rest of the show already, the flashbacks of each character to exemplify who they and what their talents are, combined with the episode then showing you those talents and what Nate can do with them -- which is, of course, his talent -- sets up this whole show so well.
So many seeds that come to fruition throughout the show are already planted right here. Nate's mentoring of Parker to become his eventual successor as Mastermind ("Haircuts, Parker, count the haircuts" -- "I would've missed that"), Eliot's role as protector, the iconic overhead shots and the gloating, the alternate revenue streams, "Hardison dies in Plan M" -- it's all already right here in this episode. A brilliant piece of writing. Hats off to Rogers and Downey, no questions asked.
Rewatching this episode made me think of what this show is about, in its essence. Yes, it is about standing up for those who can't do so themselves, taking on the bigger bad, showing how corrupt and terrible the world can be, but also how much good there is to still find in the world. But also, this show is about a lonely man being actively bullied into the family he didn't know he needed or wanted, but will eventually come to realise is the one thing, the only thing that is keeping him alive. LEVERAGE is the story of a man and his crusade to avenge the death of his child, but is is very much also the story of a man who finds a reason to keep getting up every morning in the four people who are on this crusade with him. And this pilot episode already holds the seed and the potential of all of that. And that is why this show is to this day still my favourite show of all time, because it is utterly perfect in every way.
102: THE HOMECOMING JOB
D: DEAN DEVLIN. W: JOHN ROGERS. Original Air Date: 09 December 2008.
I absolutely love how John Rogers was like okay first episode, some greedy asshole who does whatever he wants for his own gain, we'll take him down a notch. Episode two? Hmm, oh yeah, the government is completely corrupt, filled with rich greedy assholes who do whatever they want for their own gain and always get away with it. Not on my watch (I love him very much, thank you).
This episode, once again, so good. The re-introduction of every character in this new reality of Nate's crusade is just as brilliantly done as the original introduction of them all. Sophie at an audition (love the John Rogers cameo here) completely butchering it once again, Eliot beating up some thug, Parker stealing valuable art, and Hardison doing what he does best: creating a beautiful office-slash-home space for the team, putting his all into their backstories, the equipment, the behind-the-scenes workings of what they need to get the job done. My man.
The message of this particular episode is also just something I am very fond of. The rehab facility doctor's words in the beginning, and then in the end again -- "people don't just show up to help. that's not the way the world works" -- as well as Nate's ultimate answer to her, "so change the world." That right here is the message of this show. It's already right here, all up in your face, episode two.
I completely adore what this episode does for the character dynamics already. The detail Hardison puts into the other's backstories, the interactions around the conference table, Eliot sharing his knowledge, Nate explaining the money laundering scam, the whole thing about laws being in a wooden box, Sophie elaborating why she knew Congressman Jenkins was lying to her -- they don't just work together, they already start giving the others insight into their talents and their knowledge and share that. It's beautiful. I especially adore the shot of them at the end, everyone leaning against the car while watching Corporal Perry and the other veterans debating what to do with the money. They are already so comfortable and at ease with each other, leaning into each other's spaces. They're family. You can see it here already.
Absolutely fantastic episode. For a long time, whenever I thought about The Homecoming Job, I somehow associated a more negative emotion with it than with other episodes, but I don't quite know why, because this is a brilliant episode and I love watching it.
103: THE WEDDING JOB
D: JONATHAN FRAKES. W: CHRIS DOWNEY. Original Air Date: 13 January 2009.
We love Jonathan Frakes in this house and every single time his name shows up with the director tag on this show, I know that I will enjoy every last second of the episode I am about to watch. Frakes directed the hell outta this thing. The Wedding Job is an absolutely excellent episode. Dan Lauria as our main baddie Nicky Moscone is perfect casting and there are so many great comedic beats in the scenes with him and Nate. Everyone, generally, is so weirded out by Priest!Nate, but Moscone just takes the weirdness in stride. This episode holds a very special place in my heart because it contains the introduction of my favourite FBI duo -- McSweeten (McSweetheart, as we call him) and Taggert. I adore these two bumbling fools so much, and I am so glad they kept being brought back, because they are both just so lovely. McSweetheart especially is very dear to me because of the D.B. Cooper Job from the last season (where, I ask, do I start my McSweetheart for Leverage: Redemption campaign?). Overall just such an excellent episode, really. So many great moments between our main characters--Sophie and Nate and their little "relationship" problem, Hardison and Eliot talking about marriage, Parker pretending she was waiting in the screening room to have sex with Hardison, Hardison appreciating Eliot's cooking. I also absolutely adore the beginning, the four of them convincing Nate that Teresa is definitely the type of client they take on. And Nate's resigned "Yeah, okay, yeah. Let's go rob Nicky Moscone. A guy who kills people and lives in our city. Yeah, let's go do that" as if they weren't going to go above and beyond any of that in the five years they will spend together on this crusade of his. You're so precious, Nathan. Of course, the ending of this episode is beyond brilliant, and lives both in my heart and my head rent free. It is such a magnificent found family moment. Getting Teresa the restaurant back, the news footage regarding Ray's appeal, and of course, Eliot cooking for them all, and them celebrating together, all of them. It is such a beautiful moment.
104: THE SNOW JOB
D: TONY BILL. W: ALBERT KIM. Original Air Date: 27 January 2009.
I adore what the client says to Nate in the beginning of the episode: "You work hard, you play by the rules, but when you need help, you really need help? They let you hang. They let you hang and it's your kid who pays the price." This show hammers home its message so many times in such great character moments and it makes watching these brilliant people take on these greedy bastards and robbing them for all they've got that much sweeter. It is such a satisfying thing to watch. Especially because they're all so damn good at this.
This is a great episode but it is infinitely funnier if you know and speak German, because it makes the scenes between Sophie and Eliot absolutely hysterical. And the delivery of the line that Ute Ausgartner says when she discovers they replaced her with Sophie is just wrong enough to crack you up.
Again some wonderfully brilliant comedic beats -- the Frakes cameo in the hospital waiting room, Parker casually hanging off the ski lift, Hardison and Eliot arguing over who puts dye in the dead body, Eliot carrying off a pissed of Parker, and so many more.
This episode also, for the first time, really gives insight into Nate's drinking problem. We had the one moment in The Homecoming Job, but this episode starts to explore it more in depths. And something that I've always appreciated about this show is that it never glorifies the drinking, but Nate is also never vilified for it. It is a fact of Nate's life and they explore different aspects of it, and everything is done with such care (which does not surprise me one bit since this is John Rogers' show).
The ending of this episode is also, once again, so beautiful and nicely done. It is just so incredibly satisfying to watch these greedy bastards get what's coming to them, and to see the clients be compensated beyond anything they'd ask for.
105: THE MILE HIGH JOB
D: ROB MINKOFF. W: AMY BERG. Original Air Date: 20 January 2009.
Another fantastic episode (you will realise that I will say this about every single of the 77 episodes this show has)! Amy Berg wrote some excellent stuff for this show, and this episode is one of them. Always a lot of great character relationship moments, and absolutely brilliant comedic beats.
I am very fond of the fact that here, in the early days, we have the whole team present around the table during the client meeting. We see all their reactions and inputs here already, and not later when Nate or Hardison (usually) relays the information of their next job to the rest of the gang. It's a very lovely moment.
I am also very fond of the entire recon bit at the GenoGrow office. Sophie's French rave-girl act, the others having to climb stairs, Hardison's absence, the cut from Parker's bomb to the microwave at the HQ, Nate, Eliot and Parker yelling "Oh it's right behind us, it's chasing us!" and grabbing Sophie on the way out, meanwhile the security guys completely buying it. Absolutely brilliant, all the way through.
Both Hardison's adventure at GenoGrow as well as the others on the plane contain so many great comedic moments. Hardison's Spanish maintenance guy act, his interactions with both Cheryl and Steve (talking into the cupboard? His fake meeting and getting Steve to take a dive? The whole birthday thing? A+ all around. Amy Berg, everyone) and of course the reaction he has to the plane safely landing on the highway ("lord I was so scared, I wanna cry and call my momma" I love him so much, y'all). I also have big feelings about Nate's pep talk to Hardison, "you can do this, I trust you ... the only guy I can count on in a situation like this." Sir, I am experiencing an emotion alright.
The sequences on the plane are of course also absolutely fantastic. Nate and Sophie's domestic, Parker's day job and her interactions with Marissa, Eliot being a big softie who holds Marissa's hand all the way up to the in-flight bar and hugs the woman he sat down next to when they safely land (womaniser, big softie. tomayto, tomahto). Also big shoutout to the fake names Nate and Sophie have. We love our DOCTOR WHO references in this show. I love these nerds very much, thank you.
106: THE TWO HORSE JOB
D: CRAIG R. BAXLEY. W: MELISSA GLENN & JESSICA RIEDER (GRASL). Original Air Date: 16 December 2008.
This episode also holds a very special place in my heart because it contains the introduction of our dearly beloved antagonist, Mr Jim Sterling, the absolutely amazing Mark Sheppard. We love Sterling in this house, yessir (again, where do I have to address my Jim Sterling For Leverage: Redemption campaign to?). Every moment he is in is fantastic, but I especially adore the conversation he has with Nate at the race track (especially the "Nathan Ford is a common criminal" -- "Common. That's just hurtful" bit of it).
This, of course, is an episode by our wonder twins, Glenn and Rieder (now Grasl), which they ended up naming the in-universe safe company after. Always fantastic work when the two of them are involved. Some amazing character moments again here.
We get to see some of Eliot's backstory with Aimee which in turn gives us two fantastic moments with him and the women of the team. I love his interaction with Sophie at the racetrack: "I like Aimee, I do. I mean it, I like you both, Eliot. I just, I don't know what comes of chasing the past, you know." -- "Well Sophie, sweetie, I don't think you and Nate get to serve me that particular meal." Just fantastic moment between these two, who I like to call The Conference of Mom Friends whenever they are in scenes together. The other interaction is with Parker in the car: "We need you to do this. I need you to do this." I adore Eliot and Parker's relationship and this already is a very early glimpse at the dynamic they develop which will eventually lead to beautiful moments like that in the ice cave in The Long Way Down Job in season four.
I also love how it is Hardison and Parker's discussion about horses that ultimately reminds Nate of the Lost Heir con. Aldis' delivery of "Wilbur loved Mr Ed! He loved him like a second cousin twice removed" is absolutely brilliant. Unsurprisingly, however, my favourite interaction of this episode is the one Eliot has with Aimee at the end: "You're never gonna be the kind to settle down, but I'm glad you found a family." -- "Th-those guys?" Yes, Eliot, those guys. You might not know it just yet, but that is absolutely your family, and the fact that an outsider already comments on it this early is simply perfect. My deepest gratitude to you, wonder twins.
107: THE BANK SHOT JOB
D: DEAN DEVLIN. W: AMY BERG. Original Air Date: 30 December 2008.
Amy Berg on the typewriter once again (typewriter? Alex what are you talking about this was 2008...)! I really like this episode a whole lot. An excellent one for Nate/Sophie, as well as Hardison/Parker. I have a huge soft spot for my crime children pretending to be law enforcement. Any combination of them is good, but Parker and Hardison as FBI agents especially is just exquisite.
This episode is also just fantastic for illustrating some of the small town criminal activity that happens from the top down. Judge Roy's entire bit about how "these little people" will do and say whatever he tells them to do and that, because he is the law in the town, he gets to decide what is actually true and what is not. To then have Hardison fake security footage and them turning the story against Judge Roy is of course poetic justice. I adore the moment when the bank manager Frank decides that sticking with the false facts these random people have come up with is the better choice than having the judge remain in charge.
I also really love the interaction Derrick has with Sophie and then later with Parker, as well as the moment of uncertainty in-between. His "I don't know what to do with that" when Sophie tells him she's a thief is so funny and so good. The turn of "but they're criminals....then again" when he looks out of the window on the way to Parker is also just a nice moment to illustrate exactly what Parker then later says, "sometimes bad guys are the only good guys you get." Ethics and justice are such muddy concepts and especially in situations like Derrick is currently in, there is no way of knowing who is actually good, who is bad, and who is just trying their best. It is a lovely moment and once again, one of those great instances of "important message within character moment" that this show does so well.
Of course, I am also very fond of Hardison's mention of DOCTOR WHO, his "Geek power baby, stay strong" line, Eliot's fight scene with the crack dealers ("stay in the car!"), Hardison's bullshitting the demands at the bank (Hall & Oates!) and, of course, last but not least, the return of my favourite FBI fools, McSweetheart and Taggert, getting yet another win laid in their lap by the Leverage crew. This episode is filled to the brim with greatness.
108: THE MIRACLE JOB
D: ARVIN BROWN. W: CHRISTINE BOYLAN. Original Air Date: 23 December 2008.
An absolutely excellent Nate-centric episode! We finally get a bit more of a view into Nate's past, aside from the ever-present flashback to Sam's death at the hospital. I really like the relationship of Nate and Father Paul, which I think is very interesting and so well done. Through Paul we get another side of Nate, which may have stayed hidden otherwise. I am also very fond of how Maggie is introduced here. She doesn't get a voice yet, but we learn about her through Nate, Sophie and also Paul, and I quite like that. It sets up expectations for her appearance in the finale, which is really intriguing.
This episode has so many great comedic beats as well, and I barely even know where to begin. From the team's inability to deal with Sophie's acting talents (or lack thereof) to the whole "It's not Santa" gag, the amazing faces Sophie pulls when the mark tells her about Bibletopia, Hardison's "God will smite us" thing -- there is just too much good stuff in this episode.
One of my favourite interactions in this episode was on the construction site, after Grant takes what he thinks are his meds.
Sophie: What is that you just took? Grant: Xanax. For my nerves. Parker: Actually caffeine. With a dash of dextroamphetamine. Eliot: You have him speed? Hardison, shrugging: He beat up a priest!
The look Eliot gives them then with a half-shrug, an expression which cannot be described as anything but "aight, fair enough" -- just absolutely excellent.
What I also really loved about this episode, is that we get to see more of the HQ than just the conference room. We have the team meeting in Nate's office, we see Sophie picking through her mail, Hardison making space so he can build fake Saint Nick statues. Added to that, the team is setting into such a nice familiarity with each other. Eliot brings Sophie a cup of coffee to the meeting in Nate's office. The fact that they all do get mail at the office. This is their space. I love it so much.
What this episode also gives us, is a first instance of the con possibly going side-ways because of how convincing it is. I adore that their possible downfall will never be incompetence, but rather over-competence. They are so good at what they do that sometimes their talent comes to bite them in the ass. We see this again, a bit different, in The Juror #6 Job.
The ending of this episode is very dear to me. It is a very lovely moment between Nate and Paul, but also Nate and the team. It creates such a beautiful moment of intimacy between these characters, which I think is done with extreme care, and it shows. This episode also very nicely sets up a nice sort of grounded-ness for the next episode, which I think the subject matter really deserves and needs.
109: THE STORK JOB
D: MARC ROSKIN. W: ALBERT KIM. Original Air Date: 06 January 2009.
This one and the next episode are excellent Parker-centric plots and this one in particular also has some wonderful Parker/Hardison content. Nate, also, is just very good in this episode as well. Keeping the tone the last episode established especially toward the end, this episode has such a nice grounded-ness to it. Nate's first meeting with the client is so careful in a way, and we don't always see that. Generally, Nate is careful and considerate in this episode, I think. Even when Parker goes rogue, he is so good with Parker (I attribute the brashness entirely to his director role here). It meant so much that he doesn't shoot down the idea of coming back for the other orphans, he knows how important this is to Parker (and Hardison).
With this episode we learn that both Parker and Hardison have grown up in the foster system. I really adore the conversation they have at the van after they find out about the orphanage -- Hardison telling Parker about his Nana, Parker's fear that foster system will be cruel to those children, Hardison's "I like how you turned out" -- it is such a lovely and meaningful moment. This and the "we're a team" / "a little more than a team" moments are such great instances that highlight the importance of these characters and their relationships in this show. It isn't just some crime procedural where every characters is replaceable at any given moment -- this show is about people, and about these specific people.
On a lighter note, I also really adore Nate and Sophie's dynamic in this. How they coach Parker and Eliot individually but at the same time, while also arguing about Sophie conning Nate back in the day, is just brilliant. Their "delightful banter" as Hardison calls it, is so good, and I absolutely love that Nate figures out the way to con Irina is the same way he would have to con Sophie. It's just too good.
David S. Lee as Nicholas is also incredibly good, although since watching THE LIBRARIANS I always expect him to swoon over a blonde and call her Duchess any minute.
110: THE JUROR #6 JOB
D: JONATHAN FRAKES. W: REBECCA KIRSCH. Original Air Date: 10 February 2009.
The lighter of the two Parker-centric episodes, but a brilliant one nonetheless. This episode also brings us the introduction of Peggy played by the lovely Lisa Schurga. We love Peggy in this house and, once again, I ask: where do I address my Peggy For Leverage: Redemption campaign to?
This episode is great for many different reasons, one of course being that Hardison is so good at what he does, that Parker's alias has to go to jury duty. What a talent, we absolutely have no choice but to stan. I love him so much. Other fantastic things that make this episode absolutely excellent are
- Nate's "there is not some evil conspiracy lurking behind the curtain of every routine civic activity" speech which he then has to retract,
- Sophie teaching Parker about persuasion with the help of Eliot who is absolutely precious in this interaction,
- Eliot's friend Donnie, who poses as another employee from the company Sophie pretends to be from, who then turns out to be Scottish,
- Nate and Sophie sending the kids off to work at the door, with a briefcase and handshake for Hardison and a snack and high-five for Parker,
and Hardison's entire act as a lawyer. He is so good. Of course his stalling is brilliant, but the turn-around once he has to actually try and win the trial? A masterpiece. I love how he tears the doctor apart for his drunken airplane misconducts, but what takes the cake by miles is of course his closing statement. He is just, so good, and such a goodhearted, wonderful person. I love how he directly addressed Parker. Hardison is full of sunshine and I love. him. so. much.
And I would be remiss not to mention how incredibly fond I am of the rest of the team watching the feed of the jury room from the HQ with such proud looks on their faces as Parker leads the other jury members and they vote in favour of the plaintiff. This is their girl and she's done so well. What a brilliant episode. My love to Becky Kirsch, honestly.
111: THE 12-STEP JOB
D: ROD HARDY. W: AMY BERG & CHRIS DOWNEY. Original Air Date: 03 February 2009.
Another episode, another instance of me asking the question: Where do I address my Hurley for Leverage: Redemption campaign to? We love Hurley! Drew Powell is absolutely fantastic, I adore him. Also huge shoutout to Joseph LoDuca for that absolute banger of a song that plays during the intro and the credits.
This episode has some fantastic Eliot/Hardison moments that are very dear to me. The two of them looking for Hurley and fighting over Hardison's slushy spill is just lovely. The whole car bomb sequence is also just completely brilliant. It's such a step in their relationship and I love it so much. The moment of "D'you want me to kick it?" / "God, I'm gon' die" is a wonderful comedic beat in this tense situation, but it is the bit after that I really adore. Hardison figuring out how to trick the bomb and then,
Eliot: What's our margin of error here? Hardison: 'bout half a second. Eliot: Run the ba-bag of bricks by me again? Hardison: Are you ready? Eliot: No.
I am just, so fond of these two. Also the fact that Eliot's hand shakes when he reaches for the cables and waits for Hardison's signal always puts me all up in my feelings about him. I also of course adore the scene at the rehab facility with Hardison's "I'm with him. No, I am with him. See, he thinks the flirting makes me jealous, but it doesn't. But if you was like Brad Pitt or Denzel or somebody, oh girl it would be on." It love it so much.
Nate, of course, is also just great in this episode. His entire experience in rehab is another wonderful insight into his character, his issues, how he sees himself and so on. The hallucination of Sterling says so much about him. I think this also very nicely sets up how Nate behaves in the finale double episode.
I also really want to mention Parker here, because Parker in rehab is also something I am very fond of. I love the moment where she pickpockets the Koreans searching for Hurley and then so innocently comes to Nate to confess what she's done and tells him in this tiny voice "I didn't meant to, it was just instinct." I love her so much. And her, at the end of the episode, skipping along and then running toward her people, jumping on Eliot while tossing her stuff at Nate, and then going to hug Hardison, is such a lovely moment. I love how the three of them then walk toward the car arm in arm, too. I love these kids.
112: THE FIRST DAVID JOB
D: DEAN DEVLIN. W: JOHN ROGERS. Original Air Date: 17 February 2009.
First half of the first finale! I gotta say I really love the David Jobs very much. It is such a fantastic first finale. I really adore how the opening of this episode is mirrored in the opening of the second half.
Given the set-up of the previous episode, I really like how for a first time watcher, this opening sequence very much looks like Nate is completely off the rails doing his own thing getting revenge on the man who, basically, killed his son. It isn't until Blackpoole introduces Nate to 'Portia' and we see Sophie turn around that it becomes clear that we're on the con, which I think is done very nicely. Only then giving the viewer the "how we got here" part is just great.
This episode of course also brings us, finally, Maggie (yes, I'll ask again: where do I address my Maggie For Leverage: Redemption campaign to?). I absolutely love how she is introduced here as Eliot's date. I also love how absolutely terrified Eliot looks once he realises that she isn't just anyone, but Nate's ex-wife. Maggie is such an excellent character, and I adore her. I also am very appreciative that this episode holds the singular moment of jealousy Sophie has toward Maggie. After her momentary outburst as Maggie tells Nate she hasn't stopped caring about him, we never see it again. Even better, once Maggie learns about Nate's crew, Sophie and her even become friends. And it is lovely.
We also have some great Parker/Hardison moments in this episode as well. I adore Parker and her enthusiasm for their "little naked man" and Hardison being weirded out about it (and turning the little David around so Parker can change in private). I, of course, absolutely love the kiss (and Eliot's grinning question at Sophie who of the two of them Parker had kissed) and then the theft of the First David. Hardison is so in awe of Parker and it is a sight to behold.
I also quite enjoy the "downfall" in this episode. Sterling showing up (we love the bastard), the fight between Eliot and Mr Quinn, the conversation about Sophie conning them on the roof, and then of course the final confrontations on that same roof as well as the HQ. This whole thing of "and then I asked myself, what would Parker do?" / "but then I thought, what would Hardison do?" is just brilliant and lovely. It shows how far they have all come throughout this first season and how much they have learned from each other already. I am very fond of it.
I am sad about the offices being blown up, though. As much as I love both McRory's pub and Nate's apartment in Boston, as well as the Brewpub in Portland, I've always really liked the LA offices as well. It was their first home and it was lovely. I am however very happy that Old Nate made it out unscathed.
113: THE SECOND DAVID JOB
D: DEAN DEVLIN. W: JOHN ROGERS & CHRIS DOWNEY. Original Air Date: 24 February 2009.
And the last episode! As I've said above, I adore how this opening sequence mirrors that of The First David Job. Similarly, I also love how until Sophie notices Parker's laser pointer and Eliot sees Hardison, as a viewer you assume they are on the job together, which is again the reversal of the first half of the finale. Just lovely storytelling, I adore it. Speaking of mirrors, the scene in the MC Hammer mansion where Nate inconspicuously manages to get them all thinking about the con together and putting their differences aside once more, also mirrors one of my favourite scenes from the first episode of season two, where the team does the same to Nate.
This episode on the whole I also just marvellous. Eliot's awkward date with Maggie, Nate finally telling Maggie about Blackpoole's involvement (or lack thereof) in Sam's death, the team involving Maggie in the planning of the con and her, precious as she is, questioning Nate's ability to just get people to do what he wants -- it is all just so good. I love Maggie on the con, too. Sophie coaching her, how good Maggie is at it immediately. Just lovely.
Then, of course, the entirety of the con from the moment Nate shows up at the museum. Sterling hurrying all over the place trying to figure out what Nate's plan is, finding out about the mummy, the release of the gas, the evacuation, the David statue replicas, them finally getting in and finding Nate alone in the exhibit room. I adore that shot of him leaning against the display case with the two Davids still inside, only highlighted from the open hatch in the roof. It is such a beautiful shot. I really enjoy Nate and Sterling's dynamic here, too. And I am very happy that Maggie gets to punch Blackpoole just like Nate got to in the episode before. They both deserve to give this man hell.
The ending of this episode and therefore this season always has me in all of my emotions. If I didn't know there would be more after this, I would just go lie down and weep for a while after watching it. The trademark overhead walkaway shot is of course a must, but the fact that they stop, that all of them hesitate, thinking about turning around, thinking about changing their minds. And then it cuts to black, and if this had been it, we would've never known! Ah, what a show, what a first season. I am completely in love with this show, as pretty much everyone knows, but I just -- this show is so damn good. It gets me every single time. Every time.

Chapter 2, chapter 3, chapter 4.
Paring: Asahi Azumane x reader

Summary: Asahi is a marine biologist, who is in charge of taking care of the strange creature that they found. But what happens when he discovers that other biologists are experimenting on his precious sea treasure, leaving it a shaky, scared mess? He'll need all the help from his friends to rescue the little fish and take it back to his blue house.
Warnings: This story will contain SMUT, MENTION OF DARK THEMES (Y/n past), MAY BE TRIGGERING TO SOMEONE.
A/n: Hiii, I tried my best, this was the story of a comic that I wanted to draw from a long time, but because I can't find myself taking the pen in hand, I decided to try and write it down.I hope you'll like it.English is not my first language, and I don't usually write, so I'm sorry if there is any spell or grammar error.

The sea has always been a place of peace for Asahi, a place where he could submerge and forget, even for a little, all the anxiety that the surface was full of.
When he put his diving suit on, and his mask, it was like he was back into the court, full of energy and excitement, but instead of judging eyes, screams and fakes rumors around him, there were calm, silent and colourful fishes who happily swam through the blue water.
Here he could be himself, showing all his love for the sea creatures, and saving those who were sick or hurt.
Thanks to his natural talent, the Seto Marine Biological Laboratory, offered him one of the most important tasks in his entire career.
Saying he was excited was a euphemism, they discovered a new species, who could apparently communicate in some sort of way with humans, and they chose Asahi as the only person who would be in tight contact with it, taking care of the creature.
What they asked was easy, feeding it, playing with it, stimulating it to see its reactions to the various situations and objects and finally finding a way to let it share its knowledge of the sea with him.
The fact that he was the one chosen for this job made him feel proud of his hard work until now, by what really got him, was that he would have been one of the first people to interact with a new entire species.
They didn’t give him much explanation of it, saying that it was best if no one, excluded the chosen one for this job, knew about it existed before they could understand better its origin and its role in the big blue mass.
Turning the small key under the red button, the colour green appeared in the last level of the elevator, allowing him to push it. After mere seconds -that seemed like hours for the poor brunette- the door finally opened, showing a long corridor full of cameras.
Gulping he started making his way through the dark walls, coming to a stop in front of a metal door. Sliding  his personal magnet card, , the door of the most restricted area of the lab opened for him.
With a new wave of excitement he moved fast to the final door, adorned with a shining targ saying “Doctor Azumane Asahi Office”.
Opening it thanks to his magnetic card, he stood shocked on his track.
The room was big, on his left was a huge bookcase that took up the whole wall, in front of it there was a big desk, with a computer, a laptop and a modern desk lamp.
On his right there was a whiteboard and a big table filled with lab equipment that he could use during his research.
In the middle of the room were two armchairs facing what left Asahi shocked;
All the front wall was missing, letting space to a window that faced the huge aquarium that lighted the room of a light blue colour.
The aquarium was deeper than his eyes could see, not letting the light reach the bottom of it, he supposed that the huge tank was the house of the unknown creature… Talking about the creature…
He tried to search for it, but he arrived at the conclusion that it was hiding in the bottom of it.
A ‘bib’ sound was what woke him up from his trance like state. Turning to the door, the head of the project was now standing in front of him.
“Good morning Doctor Asahi, I hope you didn’t have problems finding the office”.
Doctor Furukawa has been one of the kindest people in the lab, always believing in Asahi’s potential, taking him in his lab the day after his graduation.
Bowing respectfully, a shaky smile formed in the brunette's smile.
“Good morning Doctor Furukawa, the walk was fine, I found the office pretty easily, the targ helped a lot thank you”.
Chuckling, he patted his back “Good! Now, I bet you are dying to see it, should we go upstairs?”.
A sparkle of excitement passed through his eyes, nodding eagerly in response.
Laughing at his response, Furukawa pointed to a door situated on the right wall, next to the whiteboard.
“That door will take you directly upstairs to the top of the tank. Is your special entry to the more open side of the aquarium. Other operators in the project will have a separated entry, that will land them in a more closed area, where they won’t be able to be in a more than necessary contact with the creature. We want for it to get used to you, we know how stressful it is for a wild creature to be put in a restricted place, we don’t want to put even more stress on it with lots of new faces every day.”
Walking in the water room, a light music was playing in the background, making Asahi’s nerves relax.
The Doctor reached for a bucket full of fish.
“Apparently it likes music, that’s how we first find it”.
Furukawa passed the buck to the younger Doctor.
“I was with the rescue team near the relit, a poor dolphin got stuck in one of the fish nets on the bottom of the boat.”
Throwing the fish from the buck into the water, both men stilled, waiting for the creature to emerge.
“To celebrate we put some music on, and that’s when it appeared, like a curious child.”
Bubbles picked on the surface, indicating the arrival of something.
“We were, to say the least, shocked.”
Asahi froze.
‘What…’
Colour drained from his face.
He fell on his knees to the ground, staring at the creature.
A very human head picked from under the water, watching with curious eyes the man, making the older man next to him chuckle.
“We thought we were hallucinating.”
A webbed hand emerged, taking hold of a fish. (E/c) eyes studied the dead animal, bringing it near what seemed to be a nouse, as to test its safety.
With a happy hum, the creature opens its mouth revealing sharp pointed teeth, who cut the fish in half so easily, that make it look like butter.
Finishing the fish in only two mouths full, the creature moved quickly to another fish, startling Asahi.
Turning to the Doctor, a shaky finger pointed to the human head in the water.
“I-it’s… It’s… What is it?”
A hum leaves the old man’s lips.
“We don’t know, the bottom half seems to be (Favourite fish -I personally really like the betta fish), but the top half… Well it’s very human like.”
Gulping down, the brunette tried to gather his courage, slowly making his way back up.
The creature looked up at him, moving slightly closer to the edge.
Taken by surprise, Asahi stepped back, making the half fish’s head tilt slightly sideways, curiously looking at him.
Looking around itself, it quickly spotted an untouched fish.
Cautiously it moved again slowly to the edge, purging the fish to the young man, making him confused.
With a light nudge of his elbow, the doctor motioned for him to get closer.
Holding his breath, he lowered to the ground, extending a shaky hand toward the creature.
At the movement in the water, he shut his eyes.
‘OH GOD IT’S GOING TO EAT ME! I WON’T EVEN HAVE TIME TO REACT, WITH THOSE SHARP TEETH, IT’S GOING TO EAT ME IN TWO MOUTH FULL, JUST LIKE THOSE FISHES! Oh Suga, Daichi… You’ve been the best friend ever, I’m sorry I won’t have time to say goodby one last time… And Noa! I still have to give back the film that he gave to me… And I also need to give him back those 500 ¥… I’m such a horrible friend, I deserve to be eaten by an unknown creature who is putting something on my hand- Wait…’
Cracking an eye open, he peeked at his hand.
A fish was now placed on his hand.
Confused he looked at the creature, who was looking back at him with what seemed to be an excited expression.
Sensing his confusion, it took hold of another fish, quickly taking a bite from it and showing it to him.
Looking down at his hand he slowly looked back at the half human, still confused.
Throwing the last piece of fish in its mouth, he cautiously moved closer to Asahi, giving him time to move away if wanted.
When the man didn’t move, a cold webbed hand made its way over his warm one, nudging it  toward his face.
“W-What do you want me to do?”
The other hand made its way from under the water, pointing a finger to the fish.
Following its movement, he quickly understood the fact that it was trying to communicate.
Looking back to its pointing hand he stated “The fish…?”
The hand moved again, now pointing at its mouth, showing off its teeth.
“...Oh! Eat?”
With a final swing the finger was now pointing directly at him.
“Me? You want me to eat it?”
A huge grin spread through the creature’s face, who nudged again his hand, motioning again to its mouth.
Feeling even more confused, he looked at its eyes.
“But why?”
Pointing at him, it made a shocked face, faking to faint, falling under the blue liquid.
Coming back from under the water it pointed at him, then the fish, to finally point to its face who was showing a big smile.
The creature watched patiently at Asahi, who tried to connect all its movement.
Like a light who turned on in his head, he quickly looked back at it.
“You want me to eat it because you saw me shocked and you want me to feel better?”
A loud happy chirp escapes the half human, who was now swimming happily in a circle around the pool.
Feeling like every fear washed away, Asahi finally let out the breath that was holding in his body, letting his shoulders relax and moving even closer to the water.
With a sweet smile he left the fish fall in the water, pointing with his finger to him.
“I can’t eat it”, pointing his finger to his tummy, faking to feel bad. “It will make me feel sick”.
He then started searching in his lab coat’s pocket for the small snack he always carried with him.
Showing it to the creature, he then pointed at his tummy and then to his smile “This is good, I can eat it.”
The creature quickly understood, taking the fish and throwing it far away from Asahi.
Turning back, it beamed up at him.
Without any fear left in his body, he gives time to his eyes to study the creature more closely.
Its tail was long, swinging into the water absently, reminding him of the absent swinging of the legs that people do when bored or when thinking.
It was covered in shining (F/c) scales, who covered most of its body melting with the (s/c),.more humanlike, skin under its belly bottom.
The upper part was recognized as a woman-like shape.
Her breast was covered by an intersection of sea shells and pearls, holded together by some seaweed.
Her (h/c) hair was neatly pulled up in a sideways ponytail, graced by pearls and shells, like her top.
He noticed just now, how gorgeous the creature really was.
With a blush he looked away, making her curious.
Putting her hands on the edge of the pull, she leaned her head over them, staring inquisived at him.
“It seems it likes you.”
A small yelp escapes Asahi’s mouth, who forgot the presence of the older male behind him.
With an apologetic expression he turned to look at him.
“I-I… Do you think?”
Crossing his arms over his chest, he proudly looked at him.
“It never got this close to anyone on its own initiative. It looks like you two have now a bond.”
Looking down at her eyes, he let out a relaxed hum.
Slowly he moved his hand to her face, not wanting to scare her.
When he reached her head, he waited for her to get closer, responding to her inquisitive stare with a warm smile.
She slowly closed the space, testing the warm feeling on her cold skin.
A purr escapes her, nuzzling closer into his hand.
“It’s a she…”
Looking back up at him, a smile brighter than the sun appeared on her features.
Responding with a just as warm smile, he finally stated “And her name is (y/n)”.
Hope you did like it,
