nemona feels like an obscure blorbo instead of the main rival character from the latest pokemon game because to get to her really good content from people who really get it, you first have to wade through the ocean of yandere pervert obsessive stalker annoying punchable bimbo amazon goddess interpretations of...
... a neurodivergent and possibly disabled high schooler who's desperately trying to make any friends or get any support from her rich neglectful family - while everyone in her school is jealous of their own imagined version of a privileged asshole version of her they made up - who deeply and platonically loves and supports the one new kid who agreed to take the time to get to know and respect her and her special interest without having to hold back her true self
unlike her, it's not great!
kinda feels like she has the same problem in our world that she does in hers.

more 1x5x6 because these losers are in my brain. their main way of showing affection flops between petty arguing or merciless teasing
also oh my GOD engines are so hard to drawwww... those running boards, man. they gave me hell
gonna do a proper image ID under the cut bc my handwriting is a bit ...spindly
[IMAGE ID: A digitally drawn image Percy, James and Thomas from Thomas the Tank Engine in a line, on a plain, olive-grey background, directly facing the camera. James is blushing and looking down, frowning with his nose scrunched up in flustered embarrassment, and Thomas and Percy are looking at James with teasing expressions.
Percy is saying, "Don't worry, James! They may tease, but you're our big engine. Thomas adds, "Aww, yeah, Jim. You're our special-est, splendid-est engine!" Both speech bubbles are full of little pink hearts.
Each engine has words in brackets beside them with arrows pointing at them. Percy's says (teasing) (laying it on so thick). Thomas' says (immediately joins in). James has three arrows pointing at him, with the caption (Absolutely loves the attention).
The artist's signature (DJs-sideblog-for-pog-trains) is written in translucent white over all three engine's buffers. /END ID]

“I. Am going. To kill that rat.” “What was that, Boss?” “I said, BACK TO YOUR POSTS NOW!” “Y-Y-Yes, sir, right away, sir!”
(ID: Kirby series fanart comic, Kintsugi AU, four borderless panels featuring Dark Meta Knight, Mirror Axe Knight, and Mirror Mace Knight, in which the latter two comment on their leader’s interesting new battle scars, much to his restrained dismay. Transcript below the cut. END ID.)
Good thing his minions aren’t the brightest bulbs in the bunch - otherwise they’d’ve found out about all the friendly hugs he’s been getting in his off-time.
(… this isn’t too much, is it? Stars, I hope not. I tried to keep it vague enough that it doesn’t have to mean anything spicy. Maybe it was just a very competitive game of tag. Or maybe DMK couldn’t quite reach an itch between his wings and Daroach got a bit overenthusiastic trying to help. Basically anything that could ruin his “big scary cool toughguy” reputation. As long as DMK is too embarrassed to admit to it in front of his crew, they’re all viable options, haha.)
Started 12/25/23, finished 12/28/23, updated 01/04/24. NOTE: This was originally posted on my deleted account on 01/04/24.

Transcript:
Panel 1
*DMK walking forward towards our left, M!Axe and M!Mace passing by in the opposite direction, M!Axe waves cheerily to DMK, who glances at them over his shoulder*
M!Axe: Oh, Boss, there you are! Hey, how was the fight? Didja win?
DMK: Hm? What’re you talking about?
Panel 2
*reverse shot of DMK, still glancing over his shoulder, several pink scratch lines can be seen on his back and the base of his wings, each in sets of three*
M!Mace: Got some new scratches on your back, Boss. Nasty ones, too, by the look of it.
M!Axe: (laughing, impressed) Ha! Musta been one heck of a scrap to leave marks like that! I’d hate to see what happened to the other guy, haha!
Panel 3
*front shot of DMK, his eyes shrunk to dots in realization, as a thought bubble hovers over his head - a simple headshot of Daroach, grinning roguishly beneath the shadow of his hat, showing off his claws as they glint sharply*
Panel 4
*front shot of DMK, sweating and glaring fixedly off to the side, eyes still shrunk, a vivid blush inside his visor, while M!Axe and M!Mace stand where they were before behind him, heads tilted in innocent confusion*
DMK: (strained) … … … Yes. … … A fight. … That’s what happened.

still not over the fact hangman was originally gonna be iceman's son.
can you imagine???? bc iceman and maverick obviously didn't lose touch. and mav was like a dad to bradley so whenever he met up with ice he would've played with jake. they would've grown up together. they would've been best friends. they would've talked about wanting to be naval aviators like their fathers together. jake would've been there for bradley when he found out his mom was sick. jake would've been there when bradley opened the rejection letter from the navy when mav pulled his papers. jake would've been there when bradley found out it was mav. bradley would've been there when jake applied himself. bradley would've been there when jake got accepted. bradley would've had to say goodbye to jake while he went off to live the life bradley should've started a few years earlier, torn between being happy for him and being jealous.
jake made the first call, asking bradley if he wanted to meet up for a coffee. bradley couldn't wait to catch up. they did this regularly, every friday, until they didn't.
bradley wanted to congratulate jake when he graduated, but they'd lost touch. jake wanted to invite bradley to his graduation, but they'd lost touch. bradley wouldn't see him graduate. bradley wanted to comfort jake when he found out ice was sick, but they hadn't talked in almost ten years. jake wanted to be there for bradley on the 30th anniversary of goose's death, but they hadn't talked in twelve years.
bradley wanted to be civil with jake when they got picked for the special detachment, but somewhere along the way, losing touch turned to mutual annoyance. jake couldn't believe his luck when bradley walked into the bar, there's not a man on earth that makes him angrier. they have no big reason, just little things.
jake wants to tell bradley everything, but it's too late and he's gone on the mission. bradley wanted to talk to jake, but he run out of time. everything in the past suddenly seems unimportant and really, they just miss each other. bradley hated that he felt left behind by jake when he left. they'd been best friends, and when jake went away, he started acting like someone bradley didn't know. jake was so mad at bradley for shutting himself away, but never tried to pull him back out because he though bradley wanted to be alone
bradley couldn't believe it when jake saves him. jake, his jake, the jake he lost along the way. jake couldn't believe it when he see bradley, actually alive and breathing. finally they land on the plane and they make eye contact, and the look they give each others said more than words ever could
still, afterwards, when the crowds were gone, and the sun set, and jake found himself taking a walk around the boat, eventually making it outside to see bradley, they finally talked. it was pitch black outside, it was so noisy they could barely hear eachother. but they were alone. and they were talking.
bradley finally realised how hard he'd really fallen for his childhood friend. jake soon realised he was, without a doubt, in love with his childhood friend.

Margaret of Anjou’s visit to Coventry [in 1456], which was part of her dower and that of her son, Edward of Lancaster, was much more elaborate. It essentially reasserted Lancastrian power. The presence of Henry and the infant Edward was recognised in the pageantry. The ceremonial route between the Bablake gate and the commercial centre was short, skirting the area controlled by the cathedral priory, but it made up for its brevity with no fewer than fourteen pageants. Since Coventry had an established cycle of mystery plays, there were presumably enough local resources and experience to mount an impressive display; but one John Wetherby was summoned from Leicester to compose verses and stage the scenes. As at Margaret’s coronation the iconography was elaborate, though it built upon earlier developments.
Starting at Bablake gate, next to the Trinity Guild church of St. Michael, Bablake, the party was welcomed with a Tree of Jesse, set up on the gate itself, with the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah explaining the symbolism. Outside St. Michael’s church the party was greeted by Edward the Confessor and St. John the Evangelist; and proceeding to Smithford Street, they found on the conduit the four Cardinal Virtues—Righteousness (Justice?), Prudence, Temperance, and Fortitude. In Cross Cheaping wine flowed freely, as in London, and angels stood on the cross, censing Margaret as she passed. Beyond the cross was pitched a series of pageants, each displaying one of the Nine Worthies, who offered to serve Margaret. Finally, the queen was shown a pageant of her patron saint, Margaret, slaying the dragon [which 'turned out to be strictly an intercessor on the queen's behalf', as Helen Maurer points out].
The meanings here are complex and have been variously interpreted. An initial reading of the programme found a message of messianic kingship: the Jesse tree equating royal genealogy with that of Christ had been used at the welcome for Henry VI on his return from Paris in 1432. A more recent, feminist view is that the symbolism is essentially Marian, and to be associated with Margaret both as queen and mother of the heir rather than Henry himself. The theme is shared sovereignty, with Margaret equal to her husband and son. Ideal kingship was symbolised by the presence of Edward the Confessor, but Margaret was the person to whom the speeches were specifically addressed and she, not Henry, was seen as the saviour of the house of Lancaster. This reading tips the balance too far the other way: the tableau of Edward the Confessor and St. John was a direct reference to the legend of the Ring and the Pilgrim, one of Henry III’s favourite stories, which was illustrated in Westminster Abbey, several of his houses, and in manuscript. It symbolised royal largesse, and its message at Coventry would certainly have encompassed the reigning king. Again, the presence of allegorical figures, first used for Henry, seems to acknowledge his presence. Yet, while the message of the Coventry pageants was directed at contemporary events it emphasised Margaret’s motherhood and duties as queen; and it was expressed as a traditional spiritual journey from the Old Testament, via the incarnation represented by the cross, to the final triumph over evil, with the help of the Virgin, allegory, and the Worthies. The only true thematic innovation was the commentary by the prophets.
[...] The messages of the pageants firmly reminded the royal women of their place as mothers and mediators, honoured but subordinate. Yet, if passive, these young women were not without significance. It is clear from the pageantry of 1392 and 1426 in London and 1456 in Coventry that when a crisis needed to be resolved, the queen (or regent’s wife) was accorded extra recognition. Her duty as mediator—or the good aspect of a misdirected man—suddenly became more than a pious wish. At Coventry, Margaret of Anjou was even presented as the rock upon which the monarchy rested. [However,] a crisis had to be sensed in order to provoke such emphasis [...]."

Even though I’m a multishipper most of the time, I wouldn’t be fine if MiIeven was canon after the events of ST4, vol. 2 more specifically, and how the love triangle was handled overall. The sentence “I don’t care which one will be canon as long as all of them are happy” has been very common around circles that love both couples, MiIeven and Byler, but I can’t bring myself to agree.
I wouldn’t be fine if MiIeven was endgame after Will’s feelings were used as a prop to mend it. El should have herself told Mike how greatly she feels about him, or Will shouldn’t have to urge Mike to say “I love you” if the relationship was to be fixed. (However, I think they are doing this for a reason, but this is beside the point.)
Will is a gay boy in the 80’s, lives in a small conservative town that already hates his family. On top of that, he is terrified of coming out. Amongst everything else he has gone through, he does not need a storyline where his romantic love for his childhood best friend is neglected, turned into a plot device in favor of restoring a hetero relationship.
If they wanted to make Byler as an example of a tragic unrequited love, there are other ways to do it that doesn’t reek homophobia (and queerbait). The love triangle is not just a mindless fandom battle between who is better for Mike (or who he “actually loves”) like any other heterosexual love triangle in media. There is a difference between the two outcomes. One of them being filled with homophobic and disgusting writing choices that led to cause more unnecessary pain and trauma for a queer character and the other is a hopeful, refreshing ending along with another step forward in queer representation that the mainstream media lacks.
