Sanders Sides Angst Headcannons
@thatsthat24
CW: Angst headcannons for each of the sides
———————————————————————
• After Janus’ fake compliments in the courtroom, Roman has a hard time believing compliments from Thomas and the other sides.
• Back when Virgil still lived with the Dark Sides, Janus would make a cake for Virgil’s birthday every year that the two of them and the other Dark Sides could share. After Virgil left, Janus continued the tradition of baking a cake. However since Virgil’s gone Janus takes the cake to the anxious side’s old room and eats some of it by himself, leaving a bit in the room in case Virgil ever decides to come back.
• Remus has a sketch book full of drawings he and Roman made together before the mindscape became divided. Whenever Remus misses his brother he’ll look at the drawings.
• Since nobody likes to listen to him, Logan has a journal he writes all his thoughts in. The journal started off as a professional log of his days, but it’s slowly become more of diary since it’s basically his only companion.
• Patton has a closet full of boxes tissue boxes in his room because he lets out all the sad emotions he suppresses through tears when he’s alone.
A/N: I just wanted to note that if you like any of my headcannons and want to write a fanfic or make a drawing based on it you can do so as long as you credit me and tag me in the post so I can see it.

Janis' Angst Corner
🎄 Christmas Edition 🎄
+ Janus and Remus get left out of Christmas every year. They both claim that they don't care and in fact hate the holiday. But truthfully, they both are extremely hurt by it. So they opt to spend the day together and get each other presents.
+ Patton wants to include Janus and Remus, at the very least in their secret Santa that they do every year. But Virgil and Roman hate the other two so much that he would feel too guilty, like he ruined their Christmas.
+ Logan gets sick of the constant Christmas music and hates how expensive and stressful the season is. He would rather just skip the holiday all together. Oftentimes he'll sneak off after presents to spend time with Janus and Remus since they don't really celebrate the holiday.

Self-Contradiction
Summary: It's not exactly easy having to be Thomas' emotions and Thomas' morals at the same time.
It did not feel good when Thomas hated himself.
Patton was the heart, he got the brunt of it, and it sucked.  That wasn’t to say that it didn’t affect the other sides too.  Virgil got more anxious about when people were going to notice how awful Thomas was and leave him.  Logan found it more difficult to make Thomas listen to him and listen to reason, and that made him frustrated, which often made things worse.  Roman, who was the ego and got hit harder by this like Patton did, lost his confidence and it was more difficult to do any other parts of his job too.
But Patton felt it when Thomas hated himself, a constant thrumming shame in the background, and sometimes in the foreground, that made it feel like nothing would be okay ever again.  That clearly Thomas was wrong, all the time, about everything, because he was just the worst.  The feeling touched every other feeling Patton had, made them worse if they were bad, seem fleeting if they were good.  It made Patton want to lay in bed until the world swallowed them all whole, and on the worst days, that felt like everything they deserved.
This… this wasn’t a worst day.  There had been times where everything felt heavier than it did right now.  Patton could breathe.  It just didn’t feel like there was much point to it.  He wasn’t surprised when no one came to knock on his door.  Everyone else had to be having just as crummy of a day as he was, of course no one had space for his stupid problems.
He was planning on curling up and spending the day in bed while feeling bad for spending the day in bed, but at about 10 in the morning he felt the presence of someone rising up behind him.
“Good morning, Patton.  Though it doesn’t seem like you’re having one.”
Patton didn’t bother trying to move, which didn’t help with the shame problem.  Someone had come to visit him, and he couldn’t even show them the courtesy of looking at them?
“Hi, Janus,” Patton mumbled.
“Are you alright?” Janus murmured.  Patton felt his weight shift the bed as he sat down.
“Do I look alright?” Patton grumbled, and then he winced.  “Sorry.”
“I wasn’t asking because I was unsure, I was inviting you to talk about it, sweetheart,” Janus murmured, and Patton felt his hand start rubbing his back.
With that, he finally moved.  He shifted away.  “Don’t do that.”
“Alright,” Janus said, and the hand didn’t reappear.  “Can I ask why?”
Patton didn’t say anything.
“Patton?”
“Don’t deserve it,” Patton mumbled.  “Not today.”
There was a moment of silence, and then Janus stood up and walked around the side of his bed.  Eventually, his face swam into view, looking concerned.
“Patton, what’s wrong?” he asked.
Patton didn’t say anything.
“Do you not know?”
Patton shook his head, rubbing against the sheets.  “I know.”
“Do you not want to tell me?”
Patton didn’t say anything.
“That’s alright,” Janus said.  “But comfort isn’t about ‘deserve,’ Patton.  I would have assumed you knew that.”
Patton shook his head, rubbing against the sheets again.  “No, they don’t have to earn it, but I have to earn it.  Today.”
“Oh,” Janus said, crossing his arms and looked unamused.  “And why is that?”
Patton didn’t say anything.
“Patton.”
Patton closed his eyes against tears welling up.  “Because I’m being mean to myself,” he whispered.
Janus hummed in acknowledgement.  “Can I be nice to you then?”
Patton nodded weakly.  “Please?” he whispered.
A second later he felt a hand start running through his hair, and Patton leaned into the touch.
“‘M sorry,” Patton muttered.  “You’re probably not feeling good either.”
There was a pause.
“I’m… not doing spectacular today,” Janus admitted.  “But you definitely don’t seem to be doing worse.”
“Sorry.”
“It’s not a judgment, sweetheart.”
Patton moved his head so Janus’ hand was cupping his cheek.  Janus seemed to catch on and started rubbing his thumb across Patton’s cheek.
“Do you want to talk about what’s wrong?” Janus asked.  “Either way is alright.”
Patton didn’t say anything for a minute.
“Nothing’s ever going to change,” he whispered finally.
Janus’ hand stilled.  “That doesn’t sound very hopeful, coming from you,” he said.
“Well, you want me to be hopeless anyway, don’t you?”
Janus’ hand disappeared for a second, before cupping Patton’s cheek again.  “Why would I want that, Patton?  That’s not a good thing.”
Patton opened his eyes to see Janus looking down at him, seeming very concerned.
Patton looked at him a minute longer.  “Do you actually think I’m good for something, Janus?” he asked.
Janus’ eyes widened in alarm.  “What?”
“I mean, I’m just the stupid heart who leads Thomas astray, right?” Patton asked, looking down at the bed sheets again.  “And his stupid morals that never let him focus on himself, like you want.  If— if Thomas hates himself, then I feel awful because it feels bad.  But then when he tries to love himself, I feel awful because it feels wrong.  Whose stupid idea was it to give his emotions and his morals to the same side anyway?”  Patton pressed his head into his arms and finally started crying.
After a second, Janus started running his hand through Patton’s hair again.
He stayed there until Patton stopped crying, though Patton didn’t really feel any better after the supposed emotional release.
Janus cupped Patton’s cheek again and lifted it towards him so Patton could see his face.
“Of course,” Janus said firmly, “you are good for something, Patton.”
Patton looked away.
“You are Thomas’ emotions,” Janus said.  “You allow him to feel everything he needs to, good and bad.  And your morals allow Thomas to recognize how to do good in the world, which he wants.  It’s okay to want that, Patton.”
“Really?  Because today both of those things are just making me miserable.”
“Thomas has a lot to work on,” Janus said, running his hands through Patton’s hair again.  “That’s okay.  You are crucial, Patton.  And I do not want you to be hopeless.  Your job is to help Thomas see the good in the world and feel good about it.  That’s important to him, and it’s a good thing.  You’re a good thing, Patton.  Please believe me when I say I mean that.”
Patton reached up and pulled Janus’ hand down to cup his cheek again, and Janus obliged.
“I know,” he murmured after a second.  “I know I’m important.”
“Today’s just bad?” Janus asked.
Patton shakes his head on instinct.  “I’ve had worse.”
“Oh?  When was that?”
Patton leans heavily into Janus’ hand.  “When Thomas thought being gay was wrong,” he said quietly.  “That… that was worse.”
“Mm.  And so of course you’re certainly not allowed to feel bad unless things get to that point again.  That is the only time you’re allowed to have a crummy day.”
Patton smiled, just a little.
“Hey Janus?” he asked after a second.
“Yes?”
“Are you okay?”
“Don’t worry about me,” Janus said.
“You’re allowed to have a crummy day too,” Patton said.  “Even if you’re not feeling as bad as I am.”
“I know,” Janus said.  “I’m not saying that.  I am telling you not to worry about me, Patton.”
Patton didn’t say anything.
“Patton?”
“Come snuggle with me?” Patton whispered, because he had a feeling that would make them both feel better.
Janus was quiet for a moment, and then he nodded, and pulled the covers back.  He leaned back against the headboard and gently pulled Patton to his side, starting to run his hands through his hair again.
“You don’t want to get into something more comfortable than your usual clothes?” Patton asked, giving Janus a curious look.  “And you can lay down if you want.”
“Baby steps,” Janus said stiffly, which was when Patton realized how uncomfortable he looked sitting there.
“Wait, you— you don’t have to stay here just to make me feel better,” Patton said.
“I’m not,” Janus said.  “Just— baby steps.”
Patton nodded.  “Okay.”
So they both stayed there and felt crummy together.  And if things didn’t feel better, at least they weren’t alone.

🎶I swear now that I can't take it
Knowing somebody's got my baby
And now you ain't around baby I can't think
I should've put it down, should've got that ring
'Cause I can still feel it in the air
See his (her) pretty face, run my fingers through his (her) hair
My lover, my life, my baby, my husband (wife)🎶

The Awful Truth
Summary: Janus finds out Remus' true feelings about him
Pairing: platonic Dukeceit
Warnings: lots and lots of angst, some cursing, a lot of yelling and arguing. If there's anything else lemme know.
Word count: 1,090
Ahhh dukeceit week started I'm so excitedd!!! I chose to focus on the truth prompt for today, prepare yourself for angst and heartbreak... this doesn't have a happy ending... enjoy!😉
@dukeceitweek day 1: truth/dare
.........
Janus sighed in relief as he appeared back in his room, quickly putting the glove he took off back on, shivering as he remembered how he exposed himself in front of Thomas, Roman and Patton.
Strange, he didn't think of himself as someone who would take a leap of faith like that… he certainly didn't plan on doing it today… but he saw an opportunity and he took it. Janus did see himself as an opportunist, that was all it was, nothing more.
He didn't have much time to contemplate the matter further as someone burst into his room and flopped dramatically on his king-sized bed. Janus didn't even have to turn around to see who it was.
"Hello, Remus, glad you listened to my latest knocking lecture I gave you, truly appreciate it." Janus said as he turned around to face the creative side sprawled on his bed.
Remus huffed. "Knocking's boring, this place is boring, what the fuck took you so long?" He whined needily and Janus rolled his eyes.
"Some of us are actually getting things done you know, making progress and all that nonsense." Janus remarked.
"C'mon Janny, all you do these days is work! Let's have some fun like we used to. You know, before you became all serious and uptight." Remus provoked him, as usual knowing exactly how to get a rise out of the deceitful side.
Janus smirked. "Is that what you think? Well, will 'uptight and serious' do this?" He snapped his fingers, turning into Patton.
"No, Thomas! You can't say anything other than the truth! Otherwise you'll be…" he gasped exagertavley. "Like everyone else." With that he clutched his heart dramatically and fainted with mocked horror.
Remus grinned. "There's my snakey! Do me next! Do me next!" He sat up on Janus' bed and clapped his hands excitedly.
Janus smirked proudly as he got up, changing into Remus next, and then Roman, until he impersonated all of the sides in turn.
They were both giggling and snickering at the end of it and Janus finally changed back into his fabolous self.
"So, what happened with the dorks this time?" Remus asked blatantly as they both laid on the bed next to each other.
Janus huffed. "They were impossibly frustrating as usual, Patton even more so, had a total moral breakdown, his tiny brain unable to process that sometimes you need to prioritize yourself." He rolled his eyes.
"But luckly I was able to knock some sense into him, Roman didn't take it well but he'll get over himself. I get that Patton had made his world view so narrow and it's hard for him but that's no excuse to make fun of my name." Janus' heart clenched painfully as he remembered that moment.
Remus turned on his side to look at him. "Your name?"
Janus turned to meet his friend's eyes, then sighed. "Yeah I… I'm not sure what drove me to reveal it myself but… I did, big mistake but at least that seemed to make Patton and Thomas warm to the idea of listening to me from time to time." Janus said bitterly.
Remus huffed. "Well that's not what happened when I revealed my name." He said, sharp tone surprising Janus.
He almost sounded… jealous.
"Remus?" His forehead wrinkled in confusion, studying his old friend carefully.
"You know, I don't know why I'm even surprised, this is sooo typical. Of course, I'm always brutally honest and always tell the truth, but you're the one ending up getting listened to. Perfect sense right?!" Remus was getting frantic with every word, getting up off the bed and pacing around the room.
"Remus, can't you see? This can only be beneficial to both of us in the future-"
"Is it? Is that why you did it, Deceit?" Remus turned around to face him, jabbing an accusatory finger at him.
Janus swallowed at the title. "Of course, why else would I do it?"
"You tell me mister keeping-things-close-to-the-chest, the embodiment of Thomas' selfishness!" Remus was yelling now, voice even more high pitched than usual.
"I don't appreciate what you're implying, Remus." Janus hissed. "Besides, I told you I didn't even plan on doing it-"
"Exactly! Since when do you ever stray from your own brilliant plans hm? Something else pushed you to do it. Am I not enough? Is that it? You prefer them over me now?" Remus was clutching Janus' shoulders now, knuckles white from the tight hold.
"Are you… going to leave? Like him?" Remus suddenly whispered, a sob escaping his throat.
Janus swallowed the bile in his throat, his stomach flipping uncomfortably in his belly. He looked down. "Is that… really what you think of me? After all those years we spent together, just the two of us, cast out from the rest… you still think I'm just selfish and deceitful? That I'll leave you behind the first chance I get? Is that… is that all you see me as?" His voice was sad and defeated.
Remus staggered back, not expecting this reaction. "That's not what I… I'm just scared-"
"Well I was scared too! You think it was easy for me? Do you think I felt comfortable exposing myself in front of them, of all people? But I did it anyway! You know why? Because I finally saw a chance to show them a different side of me, of us. I did it for us, I put myself on the line for the slim chance of changing their goddamn mind about us!" Janus was the one yelling now, standing up and shooting daggers at Remus.
"But no, I only think of myself, right Remus? I'm just lying all the time! Playing endless games with everyone for my own amusement, I don't care about anyone else! Right, Remus?!"
Remus was wimpering in front of him, suddenly seeming small and fragile. Janus sighed.
"I really thought we had something special…" he said quietly, hugging himself. And then his expression darkened. "But truth is... you're just like the rest of them." He spat bitterly. "Get out of my room."
"Jan I-"
"I said, get out of my room!" He slammed his hand on the wall and heard the sound of broken glass. He turned to see it was the wine glass Remus made for him after Virgil left, the green and yellow shards now all over the floor. He turned back towards Remus but he was already gone.
"Good riddance." He snarled. Not like he needs him anyway, he doesn't need anyone… not anymore.

Imagine every time a side lies to Janus a new scale shows up,
He hates it, the others lie to him, and that’s how he knows their lying, and they call his scales villainous, the scales are their faults and they call them villainous, but he knows it doesn’t matter
After a bit he starts not hanging out with any sides but Remus, Remus can’t lie to him, or he can, but more importantly Remus doesn’t want to lie to him
And if the others soon start questioning his behavior, he’ll tell the truth,
and he did.
“I’m just done, i’m done being blamed for the things I can’t control, done being called a villain for things things i didn't cause, the things you caused, the things that were your fault! i’m done dealing was the stinging barbs and quips and the lying i know about and that you label me as a villain for being forced to deal with, i’m just done. so, so done. ”
and that was the last thing he said to the ‘light’ sides before ducking out,

Father’s Day (Chapter 7)
(Aaaaaaah this is the chapter I basically formed this entire fic around! Can’t believe this was just meant to be a one shot, yet here we are at chapter 7 (and we aren’t even done yet). Hope you enjoy!)
(Chapter 6)
~Time Skip~
Janus could never have fathomed that everything would go so wrong. It felt like only yesterday his boys were bringing half-cooked pancakes to him in bed and cuddling with him under their one soft blanket on the couch. He tried not to think about those days too much; the memories only made the ache in his heart all the more prominent, the cold on his skin all the more biting, the tears down his face all the more sorrowful. It had been a long time since Virgil had disappeared from their lives. For a time, Janus and Remus had been filled with resentment at how Virgil had chosen the others over his own family. Remus had refused to allow Janus to blame himself, begging to be let upstairs to show those impostors even a fraction of the pain and fear they themselves felt. And, like a fool, Janus had let him. He doesn’t understand how he could possibly have been idiotic enough to make the same mistake twice. But back then, he didn’t understand how it was a mistake. Now he knew better.
Remus had gone up, wreaked havoc, done what Remus does best. And in turn those Sides had greeted him with patience and understanding. It had taken some time, but much too soon he was up there all the time, and then he was never down here at all. Janus wanted to say that the Sides had blinded him, manipulated him, turned him against the only person who could ever love him. But after all this time, he finally understood: he’d been the monster under the stairs the entire time. It wasn’t the other Sides that were the problem: it was him. He was the reason Virgil and Remus had left because he’d been the one imprisoning them. Janus had been so blinded by his own fear that he’d corrupted the two young sides, making them feel like they were monsters too if only to feel less lonely in his misery. The other Sides had greeted his sons with such warmth and acceptance because they deserved it. Janus didn’t. He was different, always had been, always would be. He would never be treated like one of them because ever since his manifestation he’d been the villain, someone to be feared. Every time he went up there he was yelled at and denied and ignored, while his sons got the chance they deserved. Maybe this was how it was meant to be; Janus would spend the rest of his days alone while his sons would live on with their new happy famILY.
All these negative thoughts and feelings poisoned Janus on the inside. He became a recluse, and stopped answering the other’s calls entirely. He spent his hours trying to squash the useless flicker of hope that still remained, desperately trying to save himself from the pain of being hurt by abandoning the idea that he would ever see his boys again. He didn’t even bother to dress in his usual attire, everything replaced with what he wore as pajamas. Everything except his hat. (He couldn’t bear to part with it, no matter how many times he put it away he’d always end up taking it out again.) Janus would have stayed like this for the rest of eternity if he could’ve.
Unfortunately, he ran out of tea.
Now this wasn’t a problem he’d ever had to face. He’d either ask Remus to summon him some, or he’d go to his little garden on Remus' side of the Imagination to pick some tea leaves himself. But Remus wasn’t around anymore, and he couldn’t go into the Imagination without either of the twins finding out. He’d stopped eating or sleeping properly since he’d been left behind he couldn’t remember when, so summoning the tea himself was out of the question. There was only one option left. He had to go up there, to the place he swore he’d never go again. Janus wished he could just go on without tea, drink water or soda or nothing at all. But the warmth of a cup of tea was the only joy he had left in his miserable existence, and without it he might discorporate from sorrow.
He made a plan. He’d go up to the door underneath the stairs, cross to the kitchen, steal some tea, and run back down. That’s all. He wouldn’t look at anyone, wouldn’t talk to anyone, and if they tried to stop him he’d……he’d……well, hopefully there wouldn’t be anyone there to stop him. He clutched his hat in his hands in an attempt to gather some courage, slowly making his way out of the Dark Side to cross the Subconscious.
Janus could hear voices. The door was very slightly ajar, and he listened closely. He couldn’t hear exactly what was going on, but they seemed to be whispering. Not just that, but they were at least in the living room. The light in the hallway was off, and so was the one in the kitchen. He could slip through, get his tea, and run back down. Excellent. Janus carefully nudged the door, slipping out and darting across to the kitchen before anyone could see him. He hid behind the counter, heart racing. No screaming, no noise. He hadn’t been spotted.
Janus slowly stood, backing up until he felt the counter behind him. He turned, snatched the box of tea bags from the cupboard, and creeped back towards the doorway. Halfway home. He stepped out into the hallway again and-
The lights suddenly turned on, startling him as he whipped towards the living room. Virgil, Remus, Roman, and Logan all sprung up from behind the couch, confetti filling the air. It was only now that Janus noticed the balloons, the table full of food, and the banner strung across the back wall. “Happy Father’s Day!” it read in big bubble letters. Janus stood frozen, mouth opened in a shocked expression. It was Father’s Day already? And……and they were throwing a party? For him? A feeling of warmth, like sticky honey, filled his chest. For the first time in what felt like years he felt a genuine smile spread on his face. He was about to step out of the darkness when a new voice surprised him from atop the stairs.
“Oh my goodness! Is this all for me?!” Patton ran down the steps, rushing forward. The others all met him in the middle, engulfing him in a big hug.
“’Course, Pat. We had to celebrate our favorite popstar’s special day after all.” Virgil gave him a crooked smile, nuzzling over his shoulder into his neck. “Happy Father’s Day, Dad.”
Remus enveloped all the sides in his tentacles, which led to squeals and shrieks of surprise. “Yeah! We’re gonna squeeze you full of joy until your eyes pop out of your head! Happy Daddy’s Day!” He grinned.
The others spoke as well, and there must have been music, but Janus couldn’t tell. His ears began to ring as he stared at his two sons, the biggest smiles he’d ever seen on their faces as they wrapped themselves further into Patton’s arms. A hiccup made its way out of his mouth, lost under the sound of the other’s chatter. They’d……they’d replaced him. After all he’d done, after all they’d gone through together, they’d found a new father. A good, kind, caring father who could give them everything they’d ever wanted. Janus felt lightheaded, and just like all those years ago, the ground disappeared from under him and he fell, away from the searing warmth and the blinding lights and the hurt hurt hurt hurt that filled his head. He crashed onto the cold, musty floor of the Dark Side and here, where no one could see, where no one would ever see him again, Janus began to wail. His sobs and screams of pain filled the air around him, shaking the Dark Side to its core. He was so ashamed, so destroyed, that he failed to notice he was missing something important.
Upstairs his hat sat surrounded by the discarded tea bags, alone and abandoned in the dark hallway. It wasn’t until hours later, when the food had been eaten and the gifts had been opened, that a figure in purple noticed it lying on the floor.
(It broke my heart to write this one, but it’s going to start looking up for our poor snakey side. Just gotta throw in a little more angst first >:) Hope you enjoyed!)

Random Sanders Sides Headcannons
Content Warnings: mention of zombie babies, a bit of Janus angst.
@thatsthat24
• Virgil has a weighted stuffed animal for his anxiety. It’s a black cat. Patton gave it to him as a welcome gift after he officially joined the light sides.
• Janus secretly has a Virgil plushie that he cuddles when he misses Virgil.
• Roman thought Logan could use more color in his life so he recreated Logan’s glasses in a variety of colors.
• Remus has a bunch of zombie babies he takes care of in his side of the imagination. He doesn’t tell the other sides about the babies though since he doesn’t want the others to think he has a soft side.
• Since the sides can shape-shift the way we see them look on camera isn’t how they truly look. They actually don’t all have the same face. They just present themselves that way for the camera and Thomas so he and the viewers don’t forget that the sides are all parts of Thomas and not real people.
(AN: The last headcanon exists just so I can have a reason for drawing/writing the sides looking different from each other)

see, both logan and janus wants to be listened to and respected by thomas. but while janus’s reasoning is just “you’re gonna end up unhealthy and unhappy and lonely if you don’t listen to what i say, you fool”, logan’s is more “the only purpose i have ever known is to serve thomas and keep him healthy and alive. if thomas doesn’t acknowledge me, that’s a failure on my part. if something happens to thomas because he didn’t listen to me, i will never forgive myself for the rest of my life.”

Janis' Angst Corner
+ Janus always holds out hope that Virgil will come back, he always cleans the empty room, just in case
+ Janus rarely leaves the dark side of the mind scape, even after being accepted because he doesn't trust that it's true.
+ He also chooses not to leave because he doesn't want to leave Remus alone, both because he cares for him but also because he doesn't think Remus could take care of himself
+ Janus has the impulsive need to take care of others, often at the cost of their own mental health
+ When Janus is doing bad mentally, he compulsively helps the others with problems because he doesn't know how to fix his own.
+ Janus has scars under his scales from all the times he's tried to scrape them off

rewatching selfishness vs selflessness for the 100th time in a row and there’s this one detail that i always notice. it hurts like a bitch every time i see it too.
in the scene where janus is questioning logan, he obviously takes advantage of the fact that logan had been forgotten by thomas and the rest of the sides when they all entered the courtroom scenario in the first place. logan was (rightfully and obviously) shocked to notice that they were enacting the scenario without him, logic, the person who would undoubtedly be the most excited to do so and would have the most knowledge about courtroom procedures.
but there is the moment where he says that there’s “always room for him” and janus responds with, “i know, that’s what i said! but patton insisted we leave you alone” and that moment sticks with me whenever i watch this episode.
Tumblr media
logan immediately turns to look at patton with a surprised, hurt look on his face because he can’t believe that patton would say something like that about him. it’s true that him and patton don’t usually see eye to eye on things, but patton does value his input and they resolved most of their issues during the earlier stages of the sanders sides videos (although not completely).
i find that interesting because whenever janus targets logan, he always makes it a point to draw attention to the fact that logan isn’t very well liked, mostly because he embodies logic and claims not to feel anything, unlike the rest of the sides (who as thomas once put it, are too zany or relatable). he even calls out logan for this during the events of svs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
his “oh, of course you don’t” is dripping with sarcasm and janus is the lord of the lies, he would know when someone is lying. keeping that aside, it was obvious that a few minutes ago, janus’ lie about patton disregarding logan’s usefulness during the courtroom scenario hurt logan, so much so that it was visible on his face. roman’s comment of “did you see the look on his face?” was a nod to that.
so logan, in saying that he doesn’t feel anything, is lying about his own feelings.
additionally, it’s not the first time janus has used patton specifically to counteract logan and lie to him. the whole episode of “can LYING be good?” featured janus, disguised as patton, playing to logan’s likings via patton’s charm. it was evident from the first minute that logan appeared onscreen.

after that, he simply had patton reference famous philosophers, and logan clearly admired that because he seemed to be quite happy about it, even though virgil immediately became suspicious.
janus picked up on the fact that logan didn’t believe that patton would ever try to hurt him on purpose, and at least patton wouldn’t exclude him from things. that patton would listen to him. which makes it all the more sad that in svs redux, when logan said that philosophers would not agree with patton (after patton asked for his input), patton took the easy way out and pulled logan out of the situation.
it’s also why logan ignored patton when he tried to offer comfort after logan reappeared and said “i’m just here to deliver one last fact, then i will do you all a favour and spare you my company.” in fact, he ended up yelling over patton so he could get his point across and actually be heard.
i love logan and patton’s duo, and i really hope they resolve this during logan’s arc. in the meantime, sending love to our logical boy because he needs it.
(an unofficial part two to this post is now up, delving a little more into logan and patton’s relationship. i’ve hyperfixated on the glasses gays at this point /hj)
