I love thinking of Petermj with Peter B and his MJ because they’re so mature that it makes sense to me that they’d finally have healthy communication in their relationship after Peter’s whole dimension debacle, seeing an MJ who’s Peter was dead, and like everything i want in their relationship is actually realistic with the amount of time they’ve spent together too

About the New Ultimate Spider-Man
So yesterday it was confirmed that the new Ultimate Spider-Man book that was going to be written by Jonathan Hickman would be about an older Peter Parker, who in this new Ultimate Universe is married to Mary Jane Watson and has two kids. Here are the covers and pictures with that confirmations:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am so fucking excited for this book after this confirmation because before yesterday, we didn't really know if Jonathan Hickman was going to be writing about Peter Parker. The only thing we knew was that he was writing about an older Spider-Man, so to see these covers as confirmation and to see Peter and MJ have kids is so fucking refreshing.
I kind of fell off Amazing Spider-Man after Nick Spencer's run because throughout his whole run he was teasing that Peter and MJ were going to be back together again, maybe even married, but it never happened. My best guess as to why is because Marvel Editorial intervened and that's why Nick Spencer's last arc in the series and the reveal of who kindred was became weak. That's just my speculation though. I feel like Marvel does not want this character to ever grow up, so he's kind of stuck in this arrested development where he can grow for just a tiny bit only to be knocked back down to status quo.
I'm really excited for this series. I have not finished Ultimate Invasion yet, so when i do I'll talk about that on here. I just hope Jonathan Hickman does this character justice. I know a married Peter Parker isn't new. Dan Slott wrote Renew Your Vows which I loved. However, that title is gone and it really is nice to have a married Peter and MJ after not liking what they've been offering in the current Amazing Spider-Man title.
Also, I really hope Hickman stays on this title for a long time and that Marvel let's him do what he wants without too much interference. This isn't the main universe Peter Parker, so I don't think it'll be a problem.
By the way, I don't know if this is because Marvel has teased me so much and for so long, but as much as I'm optimistic about this title, there's also a small part of my brain that think that this is all a ruse or a lie of some kind. Like Peter and MJ are not actually together and in this title, they're divorced who hates each other's guts. That is just the paranoid person in me talking. However, you can't really blame me for thinking that way because Marvel has teased this pairing so much only to go back on their word. I guess I'll just have to wait and read the book to see if my optimistic side is right or the paranoid side of me is right.
Thanks for reading this. I'm going to go read some comics and maybe I'll talk to you guys again.

So here's something really insane! The iconic Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt storyline actually takes place immediately after Peter Parker & Mary Jane Watson's wedding (as well as shortly before the first appearance of Venom)! Like... dang! Imagine getting married to Spider-Man only to then immediately fear that he’s dead when Kraven the Hunter shoots the wall-crawler with a tranquilizer dart & buries him alive in a coffin for two whole weeks!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
J.M. DeMatteis did a really excellent job of conveying how hard this experience was MJ, desperately worried and having zero no idea of where her missing newly-wed husband was for that period of time!

As my best friend once put it: "Talk about a rough honeymoon!"
From Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #293 by J.M. DeMatteis & Mike Zeck.

well I disagree with you about peter and mj cause they are meant to be together and andrew Garfield version needs his version of mj and vise versa.
tell me you've never read a comic without telling me you've never read a comic.
MJ and Peter are not meant to be together in the same way no comic characters are meant to be together, no couple is "endgame" because there is no end to this game. MJ and Peter's relationship should change and shift as long as Marvel Comics continues publishing. MJ is a dynamic character, she affects the narrative and vice versa. A Spider-Man story is only as strong as the supporting cast which is why modern Spider-Man comics have been so ass, all of Peter's friends are gone and MJ is a doll on the shelf.
I'm not trying to be progressive when I say Peter Parker isn't entitled to MJ, I'm saying it because it's good storytelling practice. Seeing Peter and MJ grow closer together despite not being the perfect couple was an engaging story, seeing them fight and break up every other week kept things interesting, even when they were married they had their ups and downs and major disagreements. Conflict means that the relationship stays narratively relevant. There are very few couples in comics that can get away with the happily married thing, and even then, they still change and are always working together as a team. MJ is not Peter's arm candy, she is an active part of his story, she challenges him and forces him to grow
If we want to talk about meant to be together, it was supposed to be Peter and Gwen, they were the classic all-American couple. And like that's coming straight from the writers at the time. They preferred Gwen over MJ as Peter's girlfriend because Gwen was the good girl. It wasn't until after Gwen died that MJ even became a blip on Peter's radar and even then Peter still believes that he would have married Gwen if she hadn't died and this is affirmed every time she comes back in almost any form. And that's not getting into the countless girlfriends Peter had before during and after his relationship with MJ.
MJ was the radical love interest, much of her clothing was inspired by the counter-culture movement of the 60s and 70s, and much of her dialogue and actions were taken directly from 2nd wave feminism. She's the party girl who uses the fun lifestyle to cover up that she's desperately lonely. So to treat her as nothing more than an object, as Peter's reward for being Spider-Man, it's antithetical to her whole character
Listen I ship Peter and MJ in every adaption they're both present in, I ship them in every comic universe, I adore this couple. But it is infuriating to watch current comic writers and comic fans reduce MJ to just Peter's girlfriend because she used to be Peter's friend. When people talk about Paul cucking Peter, it's about what the two men want and not about what MJ is experiencing which is likely stockholm syndrome.
MJ has had so many opportunities to shine as a character both with and without Peter. She doesn't exist to serve him as a character, they are two characters who are paired together because their relationship presents problems that are narratively interesting. When MJ becomes a cardboard cut out of a person, that's when the writers fucked up and they need to break up through something other than demon magic.
Mary Jane Watson is not a prize to be won, she's not Peter's reward for being a hero, she's not just a pin-up cover waiting to happen. She is a complete character that in order to as be interesting as she was in the fucking 70s needs to have narrative agency.

Oliver, aka the hero Tempest was teaming up with Spider-Woman and her family, following the women he smiles. “Let’s go over the plan one more time people!”! He calls out. “It seems like Vulture has gotten a serious upgrade since getting out of the raft! He’s heavily armed and extremely dangerous

Standing before him where four Spider's from Earth-191168. A world where Peter Parker and MJ had gotten married and had three daughters.... Before Peter Parker died in a fight against the Green Goblin, leading to the three daughters becoming heroes in their fathers memory. MJ using Peter's brilliance, and a special suit, to give herself his Spider-Powers
"He is a Vulture. It's not big deal, dude." The oldest daughter of the Parker Family, May 'Mayday' Parker, sighed as she rolled her eyes. The Spider-Girl the most like her father
"Yeah. Unless he's turned into a kaiju or something. And I don't sense that." Anna-May 'Annie' Parker quipped as well, giggling. The youngest daughter, known as Spiderling, giggling as she was hanging upside down from the ceiling. The girls spider sense so sensitive she could almost see into the future at times
"Girls. Don't be rude. This is Tempest's world, he's running the show." Mary-Jane Watson-Parker, the girls widowed mother, sighed. Going by Spinerette, she rubbed her forehead as she adjusted her stance. The super models frame hugged perfectly by her suoernauit
"Tch. Just need to pluck his wings." The middle girl, April Parker, hissed as she flicked her fingers. The tips of her fingers turning into claws under the light. The middle child was half Symbiote, as she was technically a clone of Mayday who had thought herself the original.

“No!!!!!!!! The character that was played by, *checks list* a late 90’s-2000’s heartthrob, a late 2000’s-2010’s heartthrob and a late 2010’s-2020’s heartthrob, and also has multiple women wrapped around his finger in the comics, is supposed to be ugly!!!! Grrrrrr 😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬”
HAHAJSJAHAJSKSAJAH Yeeees, Peter Parker is a nerd and a heartthrob in comics, that’s a fact. And Andrew Garfield is absolutely breathtaking, hot and a great actor as Peter Parker, just accept!
And if Stan Lee agreed and hundred percent, there’s nothing to discuss.
As @withahappyrefrain wisely said, "Mary Jane Watson would never have married a man who had no money AND was ugly"

Spider-Man Cartoon Love Triangles
It’s just dawned on me how Harry Osborn has been in a love triangle with Peter Parker involving either Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy in 2 separate Spider Man cartoons.
Spider-Man: The Animated Series - Mary Jane Watson
Tumblr media
In the beginning of the series, Peter and Mary Jane were set up on a blind date by Peter’s aunt May and started dating. In season 2, Harry became interested in Mary Jane and constantly asked out her, but she turned him down. However, when Peter’s role as Spider-Man caused him to neglect their relationship and push Mary Jane away, it lead to their break up and Mary Jane in the arms of Harry, who gave her more time and attention than Peter ever did. In turn, Peter quickly regretted his actions and despite his attempts to move on, he still remained deeply in love with Mary Jane and in time it was clear the feeling was mutual. When Harry and Mary Jane suddenly got engaged, it finally made her come to terms with her true feelings, realizing she sees Harry as a little brother and that Peter has always been the one whose had her heart.
Mary Jane ends her engagement to Harry and finally gets back together with Peter and their relationship is far more stronger and stable than it ever was before. However, Harry becomes angry and bitter, believing Peter stole Mary Jane away from him and refuses to listen to reason. Eventually, Harry’s mental state becomes greatly affected after Mary Jane’s disappearance and through his father’s manipulation, causing him to become the next Green Goblin and institutionalized.
The love triangle is finally brought to an end when Mary Jane returns and she and Peter announce their getting married. Although Harry crashes the wedding and tries to force Mary Jane to marry him instead, he finally ends his ways after Liz Allen confesses she truly loves Harry.
The Spectacular Spider-Man - Gwen Stacy
Tumblr media
In the beginning of the series, Peter, Gwen and Harry were a close group of friends, but it was obvious that Gwen has always been in love with Peter, who is oblivious to her feelings and finds himself growing closer to Liz Allen, the most popular girl in Midtown High. Gwen becomes saddened and jealous over Peter and Liz’s attraction while at the same time, she became concerned for Harry when he starts becoming addicted to the Green Goblin drug. In the season finale, Gwen finally acts on her feelings for Peter and they share their first kiss!
By season 2, the love triangle took full effect when Peter and Harry both realized their feelings for Gwen, but Gwen gets together with Harry since Peter decides to purse a romance with Liz instead. Despite their relationships with Harry and Liz, both Peter and Gwen made it obvious they are still head over heels for each other. Throughout the season, slowly yet surely, Peter truly comes to terms with his feelings, realizing that Gwen is truly the one and only girl for him.
In the series finale, Peter and Gwen finally and officially declare their love for each other with plans to break up with Liz and Harry so they can finally be together. However, unknown to the lovers, Harry overheard their confession and was angered over their love and betrayal towards him. Following the suppose “death” of his father, Harry manipulates Gwen into staying with him, forcing Peter and Gwen to remain apart, much to their heartache.
Harry starts out as Peter’s best friend, but slowly becomes his rival over their romantic interests and eventually goes from being his friend to enemy.
Harry becomes angry and bitter when both girls chose Peter over him.
The Green Goblin is somehow involved in both love triangles.
