Oh my god.

First off: I love this.

SECOND.

I love this.

I love when my fandoms collide.

I’ve been sitting on this for a couple days cuz I wanted to really get it right, and I think I’ve got it nailed down. So without further ado, let’s get started.

First, the Lady Bug and the Black Cat.

The easy answer is to say Inuyasha and Kagome, but I say NAY!! Give them to Sango and Miroku!!

The special power up of the Black Cat is Cataclysm, which utterly destroys whatever you touch with it. I feel like this echoes Miroku’s wind tunnel, and he’d be really responsible with it. Also, he’d be insufferable in black leather, and he and Plagg would constantly be in trouble. Sounds like a good time to me.

The special ability of the Lady Bug is Lucky Charm, which grants the user one special object magically conjured to solve whatever problem you’re currently in. I feel like this is suited to Sango, since she has so many cool slayer gadgets she’s always using.

Now onto Inuyasha and Kagome!

For Inuyasha: the Snake.

For Kagome: the Rabbit.

These two particular Miraculous come with time bending abilities, and since Inuyasha and Kagome are the only two characters given time travel privileges, then they’re the ones to be trusted with further time powers.

Kikyo gets the Bee. Because let’s be honest, she’s got real Queen Bee energy that none of us can deny. That’s it, that’s the only reason.

Next, Naraku gets the Moth. Not because it’s already being used by a villain (and Nooroo certainly deserves to have a nice wielder after everything), but because the Moth’s special power is temporarily granting any random person super powers. And what is Naraku always doing? Making minions to do his bidding.

Kagura gets the Peacock. In addition to parallel feather and fan motifs, the Peacock makes something called a sentimonster, which is…. Kind of what Kagura is. So I feel like she’ll operate with a measure of compassion. These are real creatures she’ll be making, and Naraku will be completely indifferent if not cruel. But Kagura will understand.

And best for last: Sesshomaru gets the tiger. Roaar is a similar magenta color to Sesshomaru’s facial markings, so the color scheme would kick all the ass in the world. Also… the special ability of the Tiger is a really powerful punch. And I think it’s fucking hysterical how often Sesshomaru just punches Inuyasha right in the face.

Amazing! A perfect Nais Tiger Moth resting RIGHT OUTSIDE my best friend’s apartment! I swear every time I visit her in south Florida I see some spectacular new moth.

This species was named by Dru Drury in 1773 and the species name “Nais” is believed to be in reference to the Naiads (water nymphs) from Greek mythology. This beauty does have a certain grace about her, doesn’t she?

Ok, I think I’ve finally figured out the trick to getting these tiger moths to show their underwings: you need to poke them when they are already on the ground. If you touch them when they are perched vertically on something, they immediately play dead and drop to the ground like a small, colorful rock :-).

P.S. - If you notice the yellowish sheen to this photo, it’s merely because every square inch of my yard is covered with pollen. Feh.

@chronicsheepdeprivation submitted: Found this friend who I let outside shortly after taking this photo.

At first I thought it was a Nais Tiger Moth as a friend of mine recently encountered one but upon closer inspection the markings didn't match up.

I tried looking for what it could be but the closest I've found is the Antler Moth, a European species that's been introduced to America, but the markings aren't an exact match for those either.

Could you or your followers help me put a name to this buddy? My best idea at the moment would be a crossbreed between the previously mentioned species but that'd be highly unlikely.

Thanks for letting me know your location in your other message! You're right, a hybrid is extremely unlikely. When you find a moth that looks similar but not quite the same as another species, try looking at other species in the same family. Most times that leads to the right answer. Antler moths are in the family Noctuidae, and so is your friend here! They appear to be a dingy cutworm moth, Feltia jaculifera, but it's possible they could be another species in the same genus as they can have super similar markings :)

What you have here is one of two species:

Apantesis nais - carlotta.

Common names: Nais tiger moth, Carlotta’s tiger moth.

Note: Differentiation between these species, and two others in the genus, is difficult, assuming dissection is out of the question. (My personal philosophy: when in doubt, collect and dissect.) Otherwise, to narrow my speculation, I would have needed to see your friend’s hindwings more fully extended, and its collar to check for distinctive markings.

Keep an eye out for those hairy caterpillars.

Like any morning, this one had flew by quite quickly, filled with daily briefings, meteorological reports to analyze, activities and incident reports to write and, of course, some training for the newest girls on Tiger Moths. Which was from where Ari came back, bringing some much-welcomed tea and biscuits - at least in her opinion. The newest recruits were promising, all of them already knowledgeable in the field and filled with determination, which brought joy into Ariadne’s heart. The fight had been and still was hard against the backwards mentalities, but they couldn’t deny women were highly motivated. She placed the tray on a free space on the closest table, closed the door and walked right through where Armitage stood, looming over a map. “Time for a break, don’t you think ?...” Ariadne handed him a cup of steaming hot tea with a smile, her other arm wrapping around Armie’s waist. She also followed, nay, punctuated her sentence by a gentle kiss on the ginger’s cheek. Of course, the door to their shared office was closed and they were away from any line of sight, facing the wall-sized map of the area - if people saw them, tongues would wag and it was absolutely not what they needed. Especially with dear old Brendol on their back. Still, that wole affectionnate thing was new to her and a bit awkward - but not unwelcome in the uncertainty of war.
