We sometimes treat avoiding Annoying Queer People as if it’s essential to the LGBTQ community’s self-preservation. We agonize over event descriptions and identity-based admittance policies, wondering how to discourage all the Annoying (and often, it’s implied, fake) Queers from attending without restricting any actual queers. (This always fails, because it turns out that actual queer people are humans, and therefore pretty annoying. And being annoying, by the way, is not a crime.) In order to fortify ourselves against Annoying Queers, we mock all their signifiers and regard them as massive social red flags: straight husbands, bolo ties, sexual inexperience, ukuleles, rainbow pins from Target, misconceptions about what hormones do, and Picrew avatars all somehow get treated with equal venom, no matter where they are coming from and why. The problem is, none of these traits tell us anything about how safe a person actually is to be around. Only observing their patterns of behavior can do that. By demonizing “cringey” and irritating attributes as the signs of a deep character flaw, we ignore the fact they tend to cluster among the closeted, questioning, or newly-out for a reason. When a socially isolated queer person in the suburbs feels that nobody sees them as they are, they might cover themselves in rainbow swag from the local big-box store to an ‘annoying’ degree. When a closeted lesbian teen hasn’t had the chance to form genuine relationships with LGBTQ people, all her reference points might come from shows like Our Flag Means Death and Heartstopper which yeah, might seem fangirlish and irritating to a more seasoned adult. When a profoundly repressed trans divorcee still believes the misinformation about hormones they’ve been fed by the press, they might repeat some downright offensive myths about pelvic floor damage or body hair being disgusting. This too, is incredibly exhausting to help someone process again and again. I don’t think any of us literally believe that the more irritating a person is, the more of a pressing political threat they are. But we behave as if we do. We devote huge amounts of time to complaining about the types of queer people that irritate us, and develop complex taxonomies for describing why they are so annoying and why defeating that annoyingness matters. This person is a tenderqueer, that one is a tucute, and in their style of dress and annoying mannerisms we can tell that they represent all that we hate most about ourselves and how we are seen. It’s easy for us to wind up directing more attention toward the queer people that annoy us than we do to our shared enemies. It’s not a good use of our time. It’s not good for our shared futures. And it’s all rooted in internalized shame.
I wrote about biphobia, acephobia, transphobia, and the troubling respectability politics of hating the "Annoying Queer Person." The full essay is free to read (or have narrated to you!) on my Substack.

Only Friends Ep7 Random Things I Haven't Already Spewed in the Tags Somewhere
God every line of dialogue this episode makes me want to write an essay.
This is the episode that's going to kill all of the mastermind theories and I'm so grateful. Everyone is just messy and young, not a genius or a villain, thank goodness that's now clear. Though I'm a little sad Boston didn't torture Nick by having more sex with the bug still present before confronting him about it (even though I agree this would have been worse writing).
Kudos to Nick for not outing Sand as the thief even though he was pressured and knew he was losing Boston. I respect it.
I was waiting this whole episode for Mew to confront Boston about him using the footage he took of Mew and Ray kissing to manipulate Top, but he never let on to Boston that he knew about that detail from Top. I was especially thinking about this during the scene where Mew threatens Boston with the Boston/Gap sex tape. I feel like some of those complicated expressions on Neo's face are about Boston thinking about that detail and whether Mew knew. It also says something to me about how much Mew is thinking about Top in this revenge moment (read: not at all). I wonder if it will come up later.
I also wanted to add that this was a brilliant way for Mew to make Boston feel regret (because it was clear he felt no remorse on his own). Mew got to feel morally superior AND instill real fear of consequences in Boston, it really was the perfect revenge.
I'm so interested in what Nick's thinking was re: giving the info about Boston's weakness to Mew. Did he want Boston more isolated from his friends? Was he actually compelled by Mew's argument even though we know he already said he didn't actually want to hurt Boston? [Ok I did already ramble in tags about this one but frfr I wanna knowwww]
Speaking of, it's interesting that Boston felt safe enough to tell Nick those details and not his best friends. Admittedly Nick was a bit right-place-right-time but Boston gave him an explanation, and now we know Mew hadn't heard about this previously.
I'm with @shortpplfedup and @lurkingshan on the Top cares more about Top than he cares about Mew train. I do think Top has some feelings, and they're associated with Mew, and I think they're mostly tied to Top's sense of self and how he wants to change and has told himself Mew is a critical part of making that change work (and making it worthwhile). His own sense of self got in the way of that change initially (which is why he did something Mew would not like at the first sign of maybe being lied to), and this loss seems to have helped him overcome that part of his ego, but we'll see.
Was thinking about the ephemerality squad as we watched Mew burn the physical representation of his time with Top, but only part of it.
Mew is careful and calculating, but he's not perfect and now he's doubting himself. After having scripted his first romance and having had it crash and burn despite his best efforts, second-guessing himself about Ray and being willing to give it a try even though he is sure it's a bad idea is.... painfully real. I didn't think RayMew would happen because Mew seemed so sure, but of course Mew would be doubting himself and his previous convictions now.
Mew really turned to Ray and said "I know we're not a good fit but maybe this is what I'm supposed to do" and Ray went for it because of course he did. Feels like that part of the script is explicitly calling out romantic tropes vs real life and how applying the logic of a romance narrative to reality just leads to heartbreak. I hope this keeps up, because YES. [Also @slayerkitty; is this what Jojo is doing re: dropping the narrative frameworks? Eps 1-5 people were telling themselves stories about how this was going to go and eps 6-7 have so far been realistic consequences. I'm now wondering if there's something there about applying dramatic tropes to the real world and how it doesn't work, actually?)]
Also just have to say, Drake's horny confident impersonal energy was perfect.
I have a whole other post about Cheum I've been drafting since last week and keep getting distracted from, but just to put this out there now: Mew was drowning Boston in that pool and girl you just stood to the side and watched (so did Ray, but he had a fractured arm so I'm giving him a pass).
No Yo at all in this episode; possibly another point in my corner about her being the representation of permanence (at least for this group), since everything was either under threat or had already imploded this episode.
Lastly, I keep thinking about what Ray's dad offered Sand, whether Sand took it, and what it would mean either way. It's absolutely bullshit, actually, that Sand not get paid for spending time with Ray considering how much money he is literally losing by spending time with Ray (this episode mentioned it explicitly: by staying to chill in the tub, he was missing out on plum wine $$). At the same time, Sand losing his other jobs to rely on money from Ray or his father is a recipe for disaster, because Ray is unreliable as a consistent source of income (please see his love of Mew). I understand not wanting to be misunderstood or influenced by money and so leaving it out of the situation, but it's in the situation anyway because Sand has debts and a lot of jobs and not a lot of time. I hate how much money has morality tied to it as much as I hate how sex has morality tied to it. It's not romantic to ruin your life for someone who won't even notice that's what you're doing (because Ray could never understand how Sand not working as hard for a week could absolutely mean Sand can't eat or pay rent--especially if Nick moved out--or pay school fees or his debts). Leaving money out of the calculation of a relationship is a privilege of the middle+ class. [@neuroticbookworm we're really going to have to have that noodling session because now you've got me fired up about this lol].
[this really only barebones touches on ephemerality but since I was thinking about y'all: @ranchthoughts @slayerkitty @wen-kexing-apologist @neuroticbookworm @waitmyturtles @lurkingshan @distant-screaming @chickenstrangers @clara-maybe-ontheroad ]

I love how Alan Wake II is so much more House of Leaves than the original was.
The theme of authorship, of authors being characters and characters being authors. Of echoes moving in time. Of mothers who try to ready their sons for the darkness.
And love. The love that doesn't save them but makes them push forward so they can save themselves.
For anyone ready to go on this journey with me, let's go.
So in House of Leaves, we have Johnny - our main character. He finds a book left behind by a recently deceased man. We get to read this book with Johnny adding his comments. Often those comments are stories from his own life. We get to learn how he feels observed and sometimes attacked by this dark presence. The book overtakes his life. He doesn't feel safe, he isolates himself from everyone. I see this part as what we can see in AW 1
It could be a simple story of being driven to madness by knowledge. Only Johnny admits that he is changing the original contents of the book. He outright says it with a not-that-important detail, but it makes us wonder - is he changing anything else? Are the parts that have been scratched out (!) done by Johnny or the previous owner of the book - Zampano. And here starts the journey explored in AW2.
But is Zampano even real? After all, Johnny also lies about the stories from his life (also a thing he admits to us). At the end of the book, we can read letters that Johnny's mother wrote to him when he was a teenager. He grew up with a foster family as his mom stayed in a mental hospital and his father died. His mom was hospitalized because of schizophrenia - in her letters, we can see her mental health fluctuating from better to worse, up until she commits suicide. During one of her episodes, she created a code she could use to communicate with her son without the hospital staff knowing. A code that can be also found in Zampano's book. There are other signs alluding to Johnny's mom in parts supposedly written by Zampano. So maybe it's not Zampano who is not real. Maybe it is Johnny. Maybe this is all written by a man who imagines someone finding his writing and commenting on it? Who created who?? An echo traveling back in time to change the future - a phone call from yourself that haven't happened yet. An author who writes a story with a poet in it. A poet who wrote poems about a boy who will come and continue his battle. A movie maker who may be a poet but isn't.
Johnny's mom tried to ready her son to face the world. She tried to show him the beauty of words, of reading and learning. She was always in his corner, ready to give him words of support to her best abilities. She told him the world may be hard but he is special and he will beat the odds. A mother that knows her son fears the dark so she gives him a light switch.
Okay. Fine. But what is actually Zampano's book about. A family of four moves into a new home - a photo journalist and his wife with their two young children. Only that this House is a little weird. It is bigger on the inside. Its hallway keeps on growing until a whole new area can be found. More and more dark corridors sprawl in this space that shouldn't be. Will Navidson - the photographer - travels through this space trying to document it. At a certain point, his wife takes their children and moves away. But Will is obsessed with this place - it is his journey to face his own demons. He feels so much guilt for only being there to photograph tragedies without helping people who suffered. (an analysis of his character could take another whole post). He goes deeper and deeper into the house, down a spiraling staircase, up until he fully loses a way out. He is stuck, no way out, waiting to die. Only... his wife hasn't given up on him. For all their problems (the house move was supposed to give their marriage a new chance) she still loves him. She creates a movie solely dedicated to the happy moments they've had together. She goes back to this haunted house and tries to find him. And just like that a way back for him opens. He crawls back from the darkness. His wife's love made her go back to face her own fears (she's feared the dark for a very long time). Husband and wife who struggle but still love each other. Who survive after facing the dark, facing their demons. Who pull themselves out of depths of despair. Wives who take time to memorize those happy moments since they know the men they love are more than their worst moments (more of AW AN moment).
I am doing a great disservice to House of Leaves (and AW2) by trying to sum it up in those few points so please, please read it if you haven't. But I want to show those points that I can see reflected in AW2. Besides, of course once again using Poe's song (sister of the author of House of Leaves who did an album accompanying the book. Haunted from that album was used in AW1). And the motif of Yggdrasil at the end of the book.
There are probably so many things I am forgetting. I need to reread this book. It's this time of the year again.

Hey! I saw your HC’s about the versions of sun wukong’s. May I request “ Journey to the West: Legends of the Monkey King 2000? ” I really loved the show as a kid. I saw it on YouTube again and wondered about it! If..you saw this series that is. If not, I’ll take Netflix monkey king! It’s up to you!
I feel like doing both :p Also I'll be doing general HC because I'm not sure if you meant reader insert or just in general if this were in a fanfiction
Journey to the West: Legends of the Monkey King 2000
This monkey man is the definition of assertive
He sees something he likes? He makes it clear he will have it. There's a demon he wants to beat up? He'll talk about beating them up before actually following through with it. There's a person he wants to get with? He makes his intentions crystal clear to everyone around him without hesitation, heaven forbid you try to stop him, he will not allow it.
Surprisingly optimistic despite everything that has happened. There is nothing that can really bring down his mood once he's in a good one.
That means he's not exactly stable when he's in a rare bad mood. Just...give the guy some space if that happens.
Sometimes he'll accidentally break things or break someone. He just gets excitable and well...
Of course there's lots of apologies that ensue if the worst happens, though he doesn't like admitting he did something wrong.
Out of all the versions of Monkey King, this one is probably the most extroverted and friendly of the bunch. He for sure will make loads of friends if given the chance.
This version also seems to be the most open minded on things. Got something to say? He's all ears. Got something you want him to learn? He'll actually sit and listen (a rarity among Monkey kings)
Despite how loud and assertive he is, sometimes he can also be more quiet and gentle when the situation calls for it. It took some learned behavior from Tang though. But, it's a useful trait to have when you're someone like Monkey king.
Very energetic sometimes. He always needs to be doing something with his hands or going out and fighting stuff.
I'd assume this version is extremely protective of his SO if he has one.
Same can be said for his friends.
Would absolutely do everything he can to cheer someone up if they started crying in front of him. It really hurts to see someone so hurt...
Usually encourages people to be a better version of themselves (except Pigsy, he gave up on that guy)
Netflix Monkey King 2023
Oh boy where do I start?
If Leo the zodiac sign was a person, this would be him.
This guy, ooo- this guy really loves himself, and he makes sure everyone around him knows it too at every given chance.
Very confident in his ability to overcome any challenge or obstacle (he's just the best ain't he?)
Probably takes better care of himself and Stick than his own armor or anything else that's with him.
Would absolutely have a bunch of different shampoos, conditioners, and lotions in modern days. The guy loves to love himself, and look loved too.
Probably a huge flirt when he sees someone he mildly finds interest in. That or he'll just brag about himself to seem more impressive. (He's probably exaggerating)
Loves showing off
Modern version of him would probably be a lot more chilled out after the years, learning to just let things go and not be so impulsive or take things personally. He's still got a lot of work to do when it comes to letting people in though.
He's just afraid of losing people like Lin again you know? Right when he realizes he has a family, he loses them and sits isolated form the world for hundreds of years.
Usually prefers staying away from people, alone with Stick. Being alone as a kid does that to you.
Sometimes seeks out validation and love from crowds of people and fans.
He's a little more patient over the years, but just as chaotic.
Expect lots of malicious compliance from him. And pranks, he enjoys getting a good laugh out of others or just doing it for his own entertainment. (though he can border on just being a jerk)
Sometimes talks to Stick when he's alone, it's usually just him venting about things from the past.
Tends to get anxious when he's alone for too long or if there's a thunderstorm (doesn't need a lot of explaining to understand that).
Will be the sweetest monkey with someone he really likes. It's like he's a completely different person!

Anon: Chrollo with a passive s/o?
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, possessive behavior, obsession, manipulation, threats, blackmailing, abduction, isolation
Passive s/o
Tumblr media
📖 Having a more passive personality doesn't have to imply automatically something negative but with Chrollo it will definitely escalate as he is quick to recognize that he can use certain traits of yours to his own advantage. That may include your fear of conflict and confrontation and your struggles to make decisions all by yourself as you're more comfortable going with the flow. No matter how subtle those traits of yours might be, Chrollo will amplify them to the very extreme until you're basically relying on him to make the decisions for you. He doesn't mind, in fact appreciates the co-dependency you start to develop with time on him. With manipulation and the occasional help of the other spiders he basically makes himself into your comfort zone, one you hesitate to leave without as you're not overly fond of being confronted with new things. You feel more comfortable having him reassuring you and deciding as you trust his own judgement more than your own.
📖 Chrollo is a huge control freak so the moment he notices that your eyes always fly to him when someone presents you with a choice as if asking him for help to pick, he's rather delighted. Honestly, I feel like Chrollo's character in general would be bad for someone passive who tends to not speak up for themselves or voice their opinion. Chrollo is confident, he's assertive and very knowledgable and smart too so even if he wouldn't have any bad intentions, you'd probably end up letting him take charge anyways. His charisma and leadership barely leave any room for you to make a decision, his sheer confidence and intelligence even reassures you since you can always delude yourself into thinking that he knows better and for that can make the better choices. An idea that Chrollo subtly feeds you to only fuel your reliance on him. Where you hesitate to speak up, he will and if you fail to set boundaries with people who aren't him, he will very quickly clarify them to you and the other person.
📖 The romantic relationship is half-consensual and half-forced. You have feelings by Chrollo at this rate, that's just the wonder of his charming personality but you also have never considered having a romantic relationship before. Chrollo coerces you into agreeing though, even if only so that he can tell himself that you also love him and to use this moment later on against you for the purpose of manipulation. He has broken you already down and your fear to disappoint him and push your source of comfort away from you by denying him just lead you into saying yes, yet another failure to speak up your own mind. It's at the very latest after your abduction where he reveals his true identity that you show signs of rebellion, even if your fear and hesitant personality sober possibly fierce insults and words down into a soft and cautious tone. By now there is too much damage that has been done by him and instead you find yourself continuing to go along with his flow as you quickly realize that by doing so, your life will just be a tiny bit quieter and peaceful. You want to avoid troubles and discussions if possible.
📖 All of his mindgames aside, it is important to say that Chrollo actually is interested in your real thoughts and feelings. You just swallow every idea, thought and feeling down instead of showing it, especially after your abduction. So perhaps it's surprising for you when Chrollo sometimes converses with you and suddenly asks you about your own opinion about something, be it a philosophical question or your view of the world or even himself. Such spontanous questions always overwhelm you a bit, especially if you have never thought about it before. You're always trying to gauge his reaction in favor of not saying anything he might disagree with but it's hard to emotionally read him as he purposely makes it difficult for you. He wants to know what you think after all and doesn't want you to repeat words he has spoken before. Speak to him with your own words. He's surprisingly encouraging during such moments, hearing you speak your own mind a precious, little treat as he watches and listens to his darling spider intently.

hey just wondering wrt your post about psychosis and violence- is there a way to prevent someone having persecutory delusions that may result in violence from accessing weapons without being infantilizing? not really sure i phrased this correctly. thank you for answering if want !
okay, so I would be more sure of the person's condition before doing this and try and help in other ways first, because implying to a paranoid individual that they shouldn't be able to defend themselves just...doesn't go down well, and most psychotic people are NOT violent. delusions may instead result in isolation from others, but for identifying potential violence, focus on ones the person seems to be fixated on and particularly concerned about. if the person trusts you, they may share the delusion as concerns. it will sound normal to them but odd to you.
some persecutory delusions may also lead to violence when they create resentment rather than fear.
how to see if you need to create some restrictions and who is targeted:
• do not imply the delusion is completely true or completely deny it. ask passive questions about it such as "how did you figure this out?", "what evidence have you found so far?", and "how did you get the evidence?" (to see if invasion of privacy or violence occurred to obtain "evidence"). BE CAREFUL WITH WORDING. "do you have evidence" could be interpreted as denial while "what evidence have you found so far" is interpreted as interest and agreement.
• try and keep an eye on the person's location and sudden disruption in relationships. are they repeatedly going somewhere that doesn't particularly make sense? do they seem to watch or follow any particular person or persons? do they appear to be suddenly aggressive towards and distrustful of a person? have they been hanging out with someone new who appears to have a similar mindset as them?
signs of potential preparation for homicide:
• the person mentioned they want to obtain a weapon out of nowhere
• the person has a weapon already but has been more secretive lately, such as trying to hide it
• the person has brought the weapon around the targeted individual(s)
• the person has verbally threatened to kill the targeted individual(s)
• psychotic symptoms becoming more severe in addition
what to do:
• ensure sharp objects the person interacts with--like knives--are dull
• lock away weapons if not getting rid of them
• check areas the person frequents at home or elsewhere to see if any weapon has been hidden
• tell trusted people close to you about the situation and see if they can monitor things when you can't
• if your life or the lives of others are in danger and there's nothing else to do, involuntary hospitalization followed by proper treatment for psychosis. the reason this is a last resort is it can result in a seriously traumatizing situation for the psychotic person and make recovery more difficult. i'll never quite get over my first hospitalization.

I sometimes think back to King’s Tide and how Darius backed down when Hettie threatened Eberwolf, and I think what Raine would’ve done in his situation. Because they are the person who in their debut episode, attempted a one-sided suicide pact to save the isles. Someone who knowingly estranged and hurt Eda, to their own agony, for the sake of Eda’s kids who really needed her and couldn’t risk losing to the rebellion.
There’s also the fact that Raine was able to make the tough, yet healthy, move to cut Eda out of their life when Eda continued to isolate them with secrets about her condition and push them away. So with all that in mind, Raine continues to support this idea of someone who can and WILL make the tough call, do the unpleasant job, for the greater good. It hurts right now and certainly in the short-term, but Raine does have the larger sight to consider it all in the long-term.
Compare that to Darius, whose attachment to his relationships is STRONGLY felt, even occasionally detrimental. He backs down for Eberwolf’s life, even though Eber is dead either way, because he cares too much. Darius clings to the memory of his mentor, to the point that he judges Hunter rather unfairly as his successor. While Alador never brings it up on his own, Darius is the one to initiate continued contact with a signed book, telling Kikimora to relay a message, and then checking Al’s Penstagram account in his free time.
(Makes me wonder if losing Alador and Odalia were really things under Darius’ control either, in addition to the fact that they are their own people capable of making their own decisions. A lack of control in losing people might explain a bit…)
That isn’t to say that Raine is cold and emotionless, either! They’re very in favor of revealing themselves to Eda in Hollow Mind… Though, you could argue it’s because their original reason for estranging her, keeping her kid safe, was at jeopardy to begin with. Contrast that with Darius, who tries to stick to the mission, but when Hunter is brought up, he immediately loses his cool.
Anyhow, this is all to loop back and ask; If that was Raine there. And if it was not just Eberwolf, but even Eda being threatened… Would they back down to Hettie’s threat, or keep going? Because I can actually see them keep going. They very much accepted Eda’s own agency and choice in deciding to sacrifice herself to sabotage the ritual, and only stepped in when it was out of Eda’s hands, and because Luz had asked them to; Luz, one of two reasons Raine had done these difficult things for in the first place.
They’d accepted the murder-suicide pact with Eda, both under the impression it’d save the isles. So with Eda already prepared to die for this… Yeah, I could see Raine just letting it happen, and Eda insisting they do. This is not to judge Darius or Eberwolf; They are their own people with understandable, human flaws. Dana said that Eberwolf trusts Darius a lot, so it’s possible Darius feels more responsible for Eber’s rebellion, and thus the danger they got themselves into. Darius feels very strongly and is very attached to his relationship, he just… clings to people like a pile of goop (I’m sorry).
Whereas with Raine is fascinating, because they can and have made the tough call to cut themselves away from a loved one, for the greater good. An interesting parallel to Eda pushing them away, really, though arguably more justified and healthy in Raine’s case… But even if it’s healthier, does that make it healthy in general?
(Man, Raine and Darius both have their shortcomings as rebels, but their own strengths as well. There’s what I mentioned, but on the other hand Darius was a lot more discreet as a rebel, and remained beneath detection until THE last second. They go well together.)
Again, Raine is hardly cold; Raine gave up Eda and sabotaged their own cause for two kids they never even met and had only heard about once before during the petrification ceremony, having not yet made the familial connection. If that doesn’t betray a bleeding heart, I don’t know what does. Especially since Raine likely related to these kids, guessing correctly that Eda was pushing them away over her curse, and wanted to prevent the tragedy that happened between them and Eda, by reminding Eda to stick with THESE kids this time.
And she did! Raine couldn’t get Eda to stay by their side those years ago, but they avoided repeating history for Luz and King, who also needed Eda. Man, it’s crazy how much is changed and re-contextualized in Eda’s Requiem with the very next episode afterwards.
Anyhow, with Raine being quite the public speaker with their own following, and the aforementioned pattern of making the difficult decision at times to cut others away, even accepting their own death and that of others, all for the greater good… They’re an understated parallel to Philip “I just need to live long enough to see this through” Wittebane, who sacrificed his brother for God’s will. Except, of course. Raine isn’t evil, just forced into actual dilemmas, by Belos himself. Man, so many characters really do reflect different facets of this messed-up puritan, huh?

Sure, I'm glad you enjoyed it! x

Now this one is really interesting, as I myself have wondered for a long time how to describe NN in the 12th house. I once read an article on by Alice Sparkly Kat, that 12th house NN often shows in the use of time. It does make a lot of sense. Coming from the 6th house SN, the part weve already integrated, we find ourselves accustomed and used to the life of daily crisis. Inserting in the mundane comes naturally to us. the 12th house is the part of ourselves most people have to actively channel since it's represent the subconscious, the isolated, things that don't occure to us when we are focused on our job, our morning routine, washing the dishes, etc. I feel that Norh Node in the 12th can feel a lack of dreams and time. They can quiet literally often feel the defeat to the mundane and the reality creep up on them, as there is other things to prioritize. The 12th house talks about isolation and isolation can't happen easily when you are fixed in your routine, when you are finding yourself having to overcome the challenges and little battles of the day to day life. North Node in the 12th can talk about the absence of time, the absence of dreams, fantasy and wonder. So you take your time to dream. You use your time and the little moments you can steal to tap into yourself and find moments of sudden and inner catharsis, moments that allow you to realize there's more to life than the mundane. Whatever you find out and channel, whatever you get out of it, you translate it into a language you (and possibly others) can understand, you integrate it in your life. Maybe loudly, maybe quietly, but you'll realize that you channeled something from deep within.
The 12th-6th house axis talks about physical and mental health as well. The 6th house is the crisis, the 12th house is what happens after the crisis. It's healing. So ultimately, we can feel a lack of healing, moments of quiet that we can take to release the troubles of the 6th house and move on or find peace. So ultimately it's the solitide and healing we have to make time for, no matter how this may look like to everyone else. North Node in the 12th house is a lot about healing and being a sign of the possibilities that we are ought to overcome struggles and that there is inherent inner wisdom and accumulated one.
North Node in the 12th house can feel like their dreams and desires are too big for this life, there's just not enough space and time to fit it all in. One has to learn to prioritize the part of them that seemingly can't fit into the 9 to 5 routine. It's true, you find 12th house NN natives figuring out their preciour, secluded times and spaces that they reserve only for them in order to be fully with and by themselves.

𝕸𝖆𝖗𝖘 𝖎𝖓 𝖙𝖍𝖊 12𝖙𝖍 𝖍𝖔𝖚𝖘𝖊:
Okay there's two sides to this as we talk about an absence of Martian themes; how Mars in the 12th influences the body and feelings of desire, anger and emotion, as well a how these feelings are translated and manifested into action.
Often, these people have a sideways or inconsistent approach. This can go from reaching some sort of goal, handling conflict or pursuing someone. There can be a disconnect with the body, a lack of body awareness, might be why I see many 12th house Mars natives eventually getting in some sort of sport or at least doing excercise to get in touch with their body and feeling it. They kinda have to get back into their body, re-connecting with it. This can also be helpful to allow them to feel and express assertion of any kind. Especially the image of their body looking strong can make them feel stronger, and help them get back the assertion and strength they had troubles attaining. Sexuality is really complicated, but I do think that this can also be positive when it comes to getting back in touch with their sexuality and sensuality, just as much as Venus in the 12th can have troubles getting comfortably back in touch with this part of themselves. Again, with the 12th house, these people have to access Martian qualities over other ways, because they don't come naturally to them.
At worst they fall for the abuse of drugs that only take them further away from their body (12th house natives should pay attention to build a healthy way of using drugs if they are interested in the use of them). The thing here is that they need to find ways (at best a routine) that help them connect the mind and emotions with the body, to rebuild a natural flow. There can also be an absence of possibilities or allowance to let out anger; this person can feel trapped inside the body, or unfortunately find themself victim to the boundarieless anger and aggression of others. They can find themselves playing out aggression and assertion in their mind and with their mind, instead of channeling it into (healthy!) action.
Often times due to this disconnect from body and mind and a lack of expression, there's trouble of tackling ones fears, as well as finding a way to pursue desired goals, they can seem unreachable. Thre's a lot of times feelings of shame and inferiority, which can be often found in people with 12th hosue placements. These people need to realize what they want and why, if not, they can have a very inconsistent and sideway/passive approach to their desires, that'll eventually not get them far or at least it takes them a lot of time, because they have troubles realizing what they want or standing up for their goals and overcoming any fears.
There can also be outer influences that influence this negatively. The absence of desires and assertion can come from people projecting their dreams onto the 12th house Mars native, the individuals can find themself being in the role of support and giving their vitality and strength to others instead to the self. Therefore they can have troubles with feeling selfish, having to pour energy into others instead of themself. In general, Mars 12th house people can experience toughness/aggression and ambition like no other, because they often find themselves having to thoroughly disect and feel these concepts out.
The thing with Mars in the 12th house is finding your own way of becoming a fighter. You redefine the way of fighting, overcoming your fears and pursuing desires, by finding non conventional ways and ideas.

Transunity just seems so stupid??? Cause like, why am I siding with people who are gonna call me “zippertits” and “theyfab” lmao I’m not gonna side with those people and invite them to fight with me bc, if they can even wait, the second we end general transphobia (or significantly reduce it) they’re just gonna turn on us. Lmao no thanks
I imagine you're the same anon who's sent asks to @quark-nova?
Your anger and wariness is completely understandable. Having spaces that are just people who share your experiences can be really good, and you deserve to have that. I know being around other transmascs and sharing experiences has often been wonderful for me.
But there are transmascs who deny transmasc-specific oppression. I've had to deal with more of them than I have transfems who deny transmasc-specific oppression, although that's just my experience. There are transfems who I agree with and relate to more on the subjects of trans oppression than many transmascs- there's no identity group that guarantees total understanding or safety. That's why I don't see value in transmasc separatism; any sort of ideology that prizes isolation, in my opinion, is going to fall into abuse and toxicity issues, by encouraging people to focus on identity as a sign of safety instead of behavior. I'm not saying you identify as a separatist, but the way you've worded this ask certainly make me think you have similar opinions.
Transunity, as a movement, has been built on the idea that doing exactly what you describe is not okay and is actively harmful to trans liberation. That doesn't mean its perfect or that people who align themselves with it will never hurt you or another trans person, but I can't imagine the same people who use transphobic slurs at other trans people will be the people you find the most involved in transunity.
All in all, do what's best for you. Its horrific that you've had such awful experiences within your own community that you don't feel safe in it anymore. But to me, its clear that your experiences have led you to believe that the majority of other trans people are that cruel and have no sense of family or community with transmascs, and that just isn't true. I don't believe that a significant amount of other trans people would turn on transmascs, especially after transphobia is significantly reduced- I see this kind of inter-community violence as a direct result of transphobia, and fixing that violence is a key part of unworking transphobia itself. The values of transunity aren't ones that brush this kind of thing under the rug, it was created as a direct response to it. I have faith that the people involved will take that seriously, and would not expect you to engage with a trans person who is actively abusive to you for the sake of transunity. Conflict can be an important tool for positive change, and that includes taking seriously intra-community violence and not treating it as acceptable or ignorable "for the greater good". Transunity that demands you be silent or accepting of violence done to you by other trans people is failing on a fundamental level.
I wish the best for you, anon.

Terrible Fic Ideas #47: Targaryen Restoration, but make it a lie
I tend to go on a lot about Jon Snow as Rhaegar's son because it simultaneously feeds several of my favorite fantasy tropes and because it makes Ned Stark a fascinatingly complex character. That being said, keeping Jon as Ned's bastard has some definite points.
Or: What if Jon Snow isn't Rhaegar Targaryen's son (he just lets everyone assume he is)?
Aka: The Jon Whitefyre Fic
Just imagine it:
The events happen almost exactly as per canon - or at least S6 show canon, up to and including Jon being named King in the North. The only difference is that Sansa's politicking is a little more in Jon's favor - more realpolitik than palace coup.
Jon, however, realizes that he cannot rule the North without Sansa. Jon may know how to lead men in war, but Sansa has a better idea of how people operate in peacetime - to say nothing of a better understanding of the poltics that have been playing out in the south while Jon has been isolated at the Wall and beyond.
After due consideration, they decide to announce that Jon is Brandon's bastard, passed off as Ned's to keep a North destabilized by Robert's Rebellion from being destabilized further. They plan to claim that their immediate family knew the truth the whole time and that Catelyn's distaste for Jon was because of the betrayal of her betrothed the represented. They will then marry as cousins to solidify their claim to Winterfell.
Both Sansa and Jon are uncomfortable with this, believing themselves to be half-siblings in truth, but feel the security of the North is more important than their feelings.
While Jon heads to Dragonstone per S7, Sansa stays behind to lay the groundwork for their announcement...
...which works somewhat against them when Jon returns to Winterfell with Dany and her dragons. After all, it's equally plausible - and far more sensational - that Jon is Lyanna's bastard with Rhaegar Targaryen. That Dany's dragons tolerate his presence is all the proof the Northerners need. Jon and Sansa lose control of their narrative and Jon is declared King Jon Whitefyre, son of Rhaegar and Lyanna.
Jon and Sansa have no choice but to proceed with their plan - now with the added dimension of a Targaryen Restoration - and marry.
The War for the Dawn and the Second Conquest go apace.
Dany is less Mad Queen than Queen understandably upset that the lords would rather follow a Westerosi-raised male bastard than a legitimate princess with a list of accomplishments in Essos. She's eager to accept Jon as kin but less eager to share power with him.
In the end, as it always is with female rulers, Dany's infertility works against her and Jon is chosen over her by a Great Council. She's named Princess of Dragonstone in perpetuity and offered her choice of Jon's younger children for heir. It's not the life Dany imagined for herself, but she takes well to it and grows to be a beloved aunt to Jon and Sansa's children.
Meanwhile, Jon is now committed to the lie that he's a Targaryen king. That his children look more like Starks is explained away by his Stark mother and Stark wife. (Many claim to see Targaryen features in them, which Jon is forced to put down to shared Blackwood blood and a possible dragonseed for a mother.)
Jon goes to his grave thinking that he's really the son of Ned Stark, married his half-sister to secure a castle that ended up going to his second son, and has usurped the Iron Throne on a lie.
Bonuses include: 1) The most awkward Jon/Sansa possible, made doubly awkward by the fact that everyone around them takes their willingness to marry as a sign Jon's definitely not Ned's son; 2) Ned having faked Lady's death years before and her return shortly after Jon is crowned King in the North being taken as a sign; and 3) Jon having just good enough relationships with Dany's dragons to make himself wonder if he has Targaryen blood, and coming to the decision that his mother must have been a dragonseed after several of his children bond with the dragons Dany hatches on Dragonstone.
And that's all I have. As always, feel free to adopt this bun, just link back if you do anything with it.
Other Jon Snow Headcanons: Aelor the Accursed | Aegon the Adopted | Aegon the Undying | Aegon the Unyielding | Aemon the Adventurous | Baelor the Brave | Daeron the Desired | Dyanna the Defiant | Jon Whitefyre | King of the Ashes | Lady Arryn | Lady Baratheon | Lady Lannister | Lady Stark | Lord of the Dance | Prince Consort | Prince of Summerhall | Queen Mother | Rhaegar the Righteous

First, I wanna say that I do NOT condone the extenely nasty and toxic behavior of various parts of the fandom, especially towards the devs. But I'm starting to wonder more and more if this is actually something the company brought on themselves? The game at this point relies on an increasingly expensive and predatory FOMO model and a lot of players seem to exhibit symptoms of genuine addiction to the game, or at least a very unhealthy relationship cultivated by that FOMO and "well I sunk all this money in I can't just stop now" mindsets. Which leads to players burning out and being irrational, which leads to some players being ruder or cruel and gives toxic players (who would be toxic anyway) a community that doesn't reject them out of hand because the community itself is so exhausted and frustrated and genuinely struggling to have a healthy connection to the game due to the entire model it operates under. It doesn't mean the devs or other players deserve the cruelty they've faced, but it feels like this behavior breeding among the fans is the natural consequence of the direction the game has gone. (I notice this in various mobile gacha type games that are heavily FOMO and predatory, too--the addition and sunk cost issues seem to make it truly difficult for people to be able to behave rationally)
In a way, I guess? It's not really the devs making these decisions though, it's the executives and marketing which pretty much has nothing to do with the game itself. It's still Bungie, but this stuff goes beyond just Bungie and just Destiny and just game development.
Basically, what people are mad about is capitalism. But since it's much harder to fight a whole system we live under and the system under which games are being made, people instead turn to individual companies and then also on devs, mostly because devs are the ones who are visible online. A marketing CEO from Bungie who signs off on these decisions isn't on Twitter.
I definitely wouldn't say that any company "brought individual employee harassment" on themselves. Like, no matter what state the game is in, you should never go for the random devs online and people should know that, no matter how mad they get. They're definitely not making these decisions and a lot of them are actively against them. For example, this is from a senior narrative designer at Bungie:
Tumblr media
Note that the first thing he mentioned is "monetization and business interests overshadowing artistry." This isn't isolated, it's just one person who wanted to share, but it's a general sentiment among the actual devs. Nobody wants their work to be subjected to the aggressive monetisation schemes that ultimately piss off the consumers and ruin the product itself.
But as I said, the issue here goes above and beyond just one game or one dev studio. A lot of people keep talking about awful monetisation in Destiny, but I genuinely can't agree that Destiny, of all games, is the worst game monetisatio-wise. I'm actively involved in games that are worse and especially games that became worse, the best example of which is Overwatch. I don't think Destiny gamers could even comprehend how awful Overwatch became monetisation-wise. And that doesn't even begin to dive into other horrible practices in the gaming industry.
The point isn't to say that just because there's worse than Destiny, that Destiny is fine. It's definitely not and some things have certainly changed for the worse, though there were also horrible practices in Destiny before that were since removed. There used to be loot boxes. Like, actual gambling loot boxes. I would honestly just buy the ornaments directly rather than being tempted to buy 50 loot boxes and gamble. The only good part was that dismantling items from loot boxes could give you bright dust, but that makes sense for loot boxes that you had to buy with silver. So technically you bought that dust with silver. You could get them also for levelling so there's that, but that was really the only way to earn anything. Grind insane hours and hope for the best or take the easy way out: buying boxes for money. I cannot stress enough how much gambling is the worst predatory practice in existence in the gaming industry. Nothing else will ever be as detrimental and scummy as encouraging gambling. People don't really remember this or even know, but the switch to direct purchase is actually better.
However, of course, the increase in the amount of things that are silver-only is definitely felt. One of the worst parts is shaders for me. Shaders got no business being for silver and in bundles where you technically have to spend $10 for a shader. Event cards are also a sore spot; they're literally just Eververse bundles, but with extra steps that tie them to an event so you feel like you're earning stuff in gameplay. They come together with random currency (tickets) that stays unused unless you buy the card. It's 100% made to make people want to pay.
But sometimes the criticism on monetisation is also really superficial and from people who don't understand game development. One of the examples that people often use is dungeon key. Now, personally, I think that dungeon key should be separate for each dungeon instead of forcing you to buy 2 dungeons at once for $15. You should be able to buy just one. Like, come on. However, the idea that we have to pay for dungeons is not a predatory practice. It's content that has to be made and requires resources and dev hours (regardless of what people think of the dungeons). People will usually say "dungeons used to be available with seasons!" This is a lie.
Before WQ, we had 4 dungeons released since vanilla D2. Shattered Throne was the first and it was a part of the expansion. Pit of Heresy was second and it was a part of the expansion. Prophecy was a part of Season of Arrivals (!). And Grasp of Avarice was 30th Anniversary, a separate pack that had to be bought separately. Out of all dungeons available so far, only one was a part of the season and I genuinely don't even know how they managed that and I feel like some devs probably laboured over Prophecy essentially for free. So the idea that "dungeons were just for free in seasons" is just a lie. Only one was, an exception that possibly negatively impacted developers. If we want 2 dungeons per year, we will have to pay for them. And we do. It's either that, or maybe they can include one dungeon in the expansion and that's it. I wouldn't mind that, but the same people shitting on devs are also the people who shit on devs over "content droughts" and "not enough content" so I don't think that would satisfy them.
The point is that while some of the criticism is absolutely warranted, a lot of complete misunderstandings and lies often get mixed up with it and this all results in the situation we're in now where the only thing that the community is doing online is being negative and spiralling into dev harassment. And they end up feeling justified because the company is engaging in predatory practices. It's very easy to get into that mindset and to feel like you're not just allowed to harass, but encouraged.
The biggest issue with monetisation is always people who spend a lot of money aka whales. And by a lot, I mean a lot. Like there are people who buy every single thing in the store (and this is applied to all games). An average player buying a shader once in 3 months is not a problem. The whales are what shows up on marketing reports and what makes soulless capitalist ghouls add more of this shit to games. Which makes it even worse that the people who are perpetuating this hate train against monetisation riddled with incomplete misleading information and lies ARE WHALES. Aztecross who made the big video is a whale. Last time people checked his stream, he literally had 8000 silver in his account and people who watch his streams have said that he frequently has segments with his chat where they look at the store and he buys stuff, ON STREAM, while also asking his chat which items he should get. He's a hypocrite who is doing this to earn more money and is, to me, not any different from the soulless capitalist ghouls that work in gaming industry marketing departments.
The best thing he can do, if he cared about this topic, is to stop playing and stop making content about Destiny. Like, that's genuinely it. If he and other content creators like him are so serious about this topic and believe that the monetisation is such a serious problem in Destiny, they should stop spending money, stop playing, stop marketing the game and stop making content for it. There is no other way for Bungie to get the message, certainly not by going at random devs. And then after that, the next best step would be to involve yourself in political action to bring stricter laws to the whole gaming industry when it comes to predatory and anti-consumer practices.
In the meantime, serious talk: if any video game ever made you feel like you have to spend money, especially money you don't have, and you spent that money against your better judgement, please reach out to someone. It's not shameful and you're not alone. Games are a hobby and entertainment and should never put you in financial risk or ruin. If any video game is too much for you and you can no longer pay for it, but you feel like you have to keep playing and it's risking you financially, again, please reach out to someone. There are people who can help you deal with these feelings, especially if you know you can become addictive. The gaming industry as a whole preys on people's need for entertainment and dopamine rush and if you can't resist it on your own (which is, again, not a shameful thing), there's options to get help. This is mostly about the extra stuff like microtransactions, but it also works for just base game stuff. A year of Destiny content is cheaper than a year of some other games, but it doesn't mean that it's something everyone can afford. You can absolutely skip seasons or even expansions. You can also wait for them to be on sale and I always recommend looking out for sales anyway. There's genuinely very little value in being constantly pushed by FOMO and there IS a way to get out of the FOMO mentality. You can work on that, especially with people who can offer professional help if you need it.
Never let the capitalist scum control you.

Little Nightmares 2 Foreshadowed in Very Little Nightmares?...or something worse...
Of all the secret rooms to be uncovered within Very Little Nightmares, there has always been one room which has garnered a lot of attention and question, it’s the room where we find  the broken eggs and a single functioning tv hanging from the pipes, above a single baby bird. For the longest time, many theorists and I couldn’t help but wonder what this room in particular had to say about the lore of the Nest.
Tumblr media
by analyzing the room we see the following:
-broken eggs with the yolks spilled out
-a  functioning tv
-a single living baby bird standing underneath a T.V. ,which is suspended from a rope tied around a pipe. The rope around the tv is dangerously close to breaking it’s last thread, dooming the baby bird to be crushed the moment the T.V. falls on it.
-wallpaper depicting eyes all around the room
-a single dead adult pigeon
-numerous locks on the door
-a secret passage leading into and out of the room through the vents
At fist, it was believed this room was meant to be some sort of foreshadowing for Little Nightmares 2 as the room presented eerily similar characteristics to the room the Thin Man was trapped in within the Black Tower. The T.V. emits a blue/purple glow similar to the towers hypnotic transmission, but then again...all the T.V.s are like this. The walls are lined with eyes similarly to the flesh eyes which hide behind the walls of the tower, but then again... it’s not uncommon to see the walls lined with eyes, we see them all over the place in the Maw, the Nest and the Pale City, either as wallpaper or drawings, it was as if they were set as a reminder of the eye entities constant watch, presence and influence over the residents of the world .
Many theorized the dead older pigeon might have symbolized the Thin Man and his final fate, while the baby bird was left to represent Mono as the now younger inhabitant of the room. However, there was always one little detail about the room which made I, and many theorists, question everything...the door. The door is locked, except, upon closer inspection, we realized...it was locked from the inside.
Tumblr media
Now, what does this mean exactly? it means there was once someone who inhabited the room, someone who could leave if they wanted, which did not fit into the lore of the Thin Man as we analyzed the Thin Man as a prisoner within the Black Tower, leaving Mono as the only person capable of opening the door from the outside in order to set the Thin Man free.
Tumblr media
But if the room in the Nest was not meant to represent the Thin Man inhabiting the Tower, then could this potentially mean there was another inhabitant of the Nest within this isolated room?...maybe, but if so, then...where did they go? and what was this room to them?....unless....what if this room was no ordinary room...what if it always had a simple purpose, we just couldn’t see it at first
Whoever resided in this room was someone who had the capability and paranoia to lock themselves inside such a small space on purpose. Based on how isolated the room is, as well as the series of locks which can only be accessible from the inside, its almost as if this room was... a safe house/panic room inhabited by a resident of the Nest. However, knowing what we know now about the world and the eye entity we theorized is responsible for it’s ongoing downfall (more here), it would appear as though the inhabitant of this room might not have been able to obtain the safety they wanted.
We have always theorized the people of this world felt the effects of the eye entities influence corrupting their minds in a slow and ongoing process. The first sign of its hold on a person was theorized to be depicted by the persons sudden and unknowing desire to draw or incorporate eyes within every inch of their surroundings. In this case, the inhabitant of the room might have had the sudden desire to incorporate eyes onto the rooms’ walls as they felt the eye entities influence corrupting them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, considering the locks within this room are still attached to the door and locked in place, it’s almost as if the room was set up to tell us something happened to the inhabitant, while they were still in the room, but what?, unless...what if the room already gave us an answer?
Upon closer inspection, many theorists and I began to realize the peculiar presence of the single T.V. within the room, now, what was so bizarre about it? Well, this T.V., which was dangling from a pipe on the celling...was not plugged into any electrical source...so then, how was it able to stay in power?
Tumblr media
And of all the things which could be in this room, why was there a  T.V. dangling from such an obscure location?...then again... we have seen this kind of thing before, all over the Pale City. When we traveled through the Pale City in Little Nightmares 2, the one thing many of us took note of was the various TVs in obscure places. We saw TVs hanging from the edge of balconies, clothes lines, through multiple broken floors within a building etc., but the most bizarre thing noted about these TVs, was how many of them were not plugged into any electrical source, yet they still remained in power.
Tumblr media
Based on the bizarre locations of some electrical cords, such as the one in a viewers apartment which extended from underneath the toilet to the electrical outlet on the wall, and upon discovering the T.V. in the apartment had short circuited the moment the Viewer touched the electrocuted water, we had theorized the Pale City harbored abnormal T.V.’s which were not only capable of extending their electrical cords to the nearest source of power, but remain in power no matter where they were located.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for how these obscure T.V.’s came to be, well, we've always theorized the T.V.’s within the Pale City were being produced by the one thing which connected all the chaos seen throughout the Pale City...the Black Tower(aka, the part of the eye entity which manifested in the pale city, more here), all of which was theorized to be for the simple desire of expanding it’s reach to obtain more and more victims.
Tumblr media
As the tower strengthened, we had realized there eventually came a time when inhabitants of the city could no longer escape the hypnotic transmission by simply removing and destroying the T.V.’s in their homes, because as the towers strength peeked, so did the threat of the T.V.’s. At some point within the Pale City, the T.V.’s began to appear anywhere and everywhere, wherever a living being could be, even as far as the Hunter’s vast empty wood fields.... and maybe even... farther than that. These T.V.’s scattered all around, may not have just remained in power by some functioning electrical source, but by the one thing which connected all of them, the very thing which manifested them in the first place, the Tower itself.
Where am I going with this?, well, if the Tower was responsible for the manifestation of the many T.V.’s in the Pale City, if it is truly able to extend its reach to manifest even more T.V.’s in places as far as the woods, then,...who knows how much farther the tower was able to manifest its televisions as its transmission continued to broadcast farther beyond the city...maybe even...as far as the Nest?
Tumblr media
We have always theorized the Nest was within distance of the Pale City, hence why a child like Six could have survived a journey overseas the moment she boarded the plank of wood at the bottom of the mountain (near the end of Very Little Nightmares), repurposing it as a small raft . If the Nest was not to far from the Pale City, then this meant it could still more or less receive the transmission the tower was broadcasting.
Tumblr media
How do we know for sure it was?, well...In the Nest’s playroom, there was a drawing of a tall man wearing a hat, this drawing could have been of anyone, the Pretenders caretaker, their father, someone else she knew?...or maybe it was of someone she saw, not in person...but through the T.V.’s.
Tumblr media
Was the drawing we saw in the playroom...a drawing of the Thin Man?...honestly who’s to say...then again... if Mono had already defeated the former resident of the black tower around this time(more here), and if he had truly been forced to repeat his loop a number of times long before meeting Six(more here and here), then maybe...just maybe...his all to familiar silhouette we all saw walking out of the T.V., back in Little Nightmares 2, may not have been just for our viewing pleasure, in other words... who’s to say his silhouette wasn’t broadcasted throughout all the T.V.’s each and every time he escaped the tower and/or traveled through the T.V.’s.
Tumblr media
We know one of the Pretenders activities is watching the numerous T.V.’s in her T.V. room, but with all the T.V.’s in the Nest displaying the same static noise, who knows what more she saw through the screen....and who knows what more the transmission could have done by reaching out to places as far as the Nest.
Tumblr media
Perhaps it wasn’t all to strange to find a single T.V. dangling from a pipe within that bizaar room of the Nest,...because what if it had to be a T.V. ... because unlike everything else in the Nest, it was a T.V which had the capability of appearing anywhere and everywhere... providing the transmission through its screen, trapping anyone who gazed upon it, including whomever resided in the room.
(pause for break)
But if the Nest was truly receiving the towers broadcast, then could it be the T.V. we saw in this secret room, simply appeared the moment it’s inhabitant decided to isolate themselves from the rest of the Nest?...maybe.
If the T.V. had truly appeared in the room and began to warp the inhabitants mind just as it had done to many others within the Pale City(and around the world) through the transmission, then one can only imagine the events which transpired as this person slowly, but surely, began to lose their sanity and their connection to reality, until finally...  they became lost, fueled by whatever corrupt desire/base instinct they latched onto, evidently becoming another Viewer or Resident of “the eye entities” world, the only question is...what did they become in the end?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Residents of the world, like the Teacher, the Chefs, the Doctor, the Lady etc. may move about on whatever desire/base instinct that fuels them blindly throughout the world, but they are still able to function enough to not leave themselves trapped in a room, they can traverse throughout whatever building or location they are in. No, based on the various cracked eggs and dead pigeon, its almost as if there was a very sudden, and very major struggle.
Tumblr media
Now, if the inhabitant of this secret room had truly been ensnared by the transmission, if they had instead become a Viewer, then... why weren't there any clothes or items left behind in the room? what am I talking about? well, we have always theorized the Viewers bodies were sucked into the T.V.’s, the only thing left of them were the clothes they once wore, in the exact spot they once stood.
Tumblr media
However, there were no clothes in the secret room, so what could have happened to the inhabitant of the room if they became a Viewer?...unless...what if “the girl in the yellow raincoat” already gave us an answer.
When a Viewer is entranced by the transmission, they do not feel compelled to move away from the screen, they just stand there, hypnotized and pacified by the wonderful word it offers them, leaving their true surroundings to remain untouched and wither away. If anything dared interrupt their focus on the T.V.’s, they would face the Viewers wrath....but what would happen if there was nothing to watch? Every single T.V. seen throughout the Nest, does not display any form of content, its all just a bunch of staticky white noise...but that’s exactly it isn’t it...there was just nothing to watch, and if there was no content, then this would mean the transmission was struggling to broadcast to all the T.V.’s, which would essentially give way to the same situation surrounding the Viewers in the Pale City.
What am I talking about? well, in the Pale City, we discover many Viewers are able to act berserk if there is no functioning T.V. nearby. One Viewer who fell through the roof, smashed their head in the nearby T.V., however, this T.V. was not in power and did not provide the transmission to pacify the Viewer in order to prevent them from smashing their head through the screen.
Tumblr media
The Viewers who pursued Mono in the grocery store, were discovered to no longer be pacified by the T.V.’s the moment the Thin Man was set free. We additionally discovered the Viewers in episode 5 of the Little Nightmares 2 comics, caught the Ghost child the moment the T.V. shut down (situation in episode 5 was similar, but a little different, more on that here).
Tumblr media
What does this mean exactly? it means whomever resided in this room may have exhibited the same behaviors as the Viewers who chased Mono and attacked the ghost child once their T.V. failed to provide the transmission. The inhabitant of the room, may have gone berserk, lashing out at anything nearby, struggling to find some way out to search for another T.V. that could provide them the transmission once more, until finally...they found a way out...through the vent the “Girl in the yellow raincoat” discovered long after the room was finally left empty. Due to the location of the vent and the position of the vent cover being left leaning on the wall, its almost as if someone, some poor unfortunate child, had the misfortune of opening the vent and freeing whatever or whomever resided inside the room.
Tumblr media
Is this why there was a dead pigeon and numerous broken eggs?. Had the pigeon made the unfortunate mistake of nesting in this room and disrupted the Viewer which resided inside, then the pigeon itself, along with its numerous eggs, would have suffered the wrath of the Viewer. The only egg to survive, would have been the one egg it incubated, the only egg which had the fortune of being nested under the T.V, providing it the advantage of remaining in a safer position as the Viewer focused its attention on the broadcast rather than the egg which laid silently below, ready to hatch at any moment, but ultimately facing the cruel fate of being born under a dangling T.V. hanging by its final thread.
Now, had this inhabitant(possibly Viewer),  left through the same air duct the girl in the yellow raincoat found, then...where are they now? there were no clothes left in this room so they couldn’t have been sucked into the T.V., meaning they must have gone somewhere else. Then again, if this Viewer had truly escaped, then odds are...it could not have gone far the moment it encountered the Residents of the Nest. We have never seen a Resident and a Viewer interact, but perhaps an interaction such as this may not be so different to the Guests of the Maw and the Residents who cater to them. In the Maw, the Residents do not care for what happens to the lives of the Guests, their only purpose is to eat until it is time for them to be drained of their life force by the Lady of the Maw to sustain the Maw and keep it thriving, then use their bodies to feed to other Guests and help the Maw continue to grow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because the Pretender is as short tempered as she is, then one could only imagine what she could have done or what her staff could have done had they encountered the inhabitant of the room wandering the Nest. Nevertheless, we can be certain of one thing, no matter who they were or what they did, if they had truly managed to escape from the confines of their tiny room, their fate would have been anything but merciful...but hey!, its just a theory...a Little Nightmares 2 theory!

126 Sculptor’s Tools - ah, more artists. Different sort of artists at first glance - amateur artists. But isn’t the point of Daria in The Magnus Protocols that she doesn’t feel like a ‘real artists’ until she gets the tattoo?
Oh, that line. ‘There was no sign of Mary. They still haven’t found her.’ Implies so much in so little.
And like Daria, they have to create a face - their own face - from the deepest, twisted parts of themselves. I wonder if Gabriel is connected to Ink5oul? If Gabriel is Ink5oul?
This one is genuinely unsettling. The way she keeps saying she can’t leave or run because it’s rude, and how everything didn’t happen cos everyone is fine. They’re very ordinary people who haven’t done anything to tempt these horrors but the horrors still come.
Oh, Jon knows he’s moved away from his humanity and yet he still feels sad at the thought of sacrificing someone, as Gertrude did. He admit it hurts that Melanie still won’t talk to him but he’s glad he could help her.
And oh, it ends with Martin talking to the tape! And then being caught by Peter admitting he misses Jon. And then we hear how Peter is turning Martin to him, isolating Martin and it’s heartbreaking because we know how much Jon misses and Jon wants to speak to Martin and Martin does too but isn’t allowed to explain! And it’s all to save Jon…
Oh, Peter can’t stand computers…

Have you noticed the pattern that's been strengthening in modern (Western) culture?
Being kind to others for no reason is suspicious behavior.
Enjoying escapist fantasy is perverse and suspicious.
Wanting to be happy- or to enjoy happy endings in media- is childish and a sign of mental deficiency. Suspicious.
You want to change your physical appearance beyond beyond basic cosmetic differences and/or wear clothes designed for a different bodyshape? That's predatory and not just suspicious but actively threatening to those around you. Especially children.
Anyone who isn't a straight white cis male with lots of money is potentially dangerous and 100% suspicious.
Vilifying joy makes people angry and paranoid and makes it much easier to isolate individuals for attack (or recruitment). People wind up getting burned out and discouraged and hopeless and that makes it easier for the REAL malevolent forces to dig themselves in deeper and continue poisoning everything around them.
I'm wondering if desaturation plays into it as well. Trends in car colors favor a bland black-to-white range: bland, inoffensive, good for blending in and not standing out. Even baby stuff seems to be moving away from bright primary colors to faded pastels. And the home decorating shows seem to heavily favor white everything.
I'm sure there's more I've missed or haven't considered, but yeah. Kinda ominous.

Roleplaying Races 13: Svirfneblin
Tumblr media
(art by Krasgar on DeviantArt)
We’ve covered drow, the duergar, and even the newer munavri. Now we finally round out the collection of the trope of “traditional goodly race, but underground and changed by it.” Enter the svirfneblin! (pronounced Sverf-neh-blin, for those of you that have trouble with that letter salad.)
The best I was able to find about the real-world origins of the word “svirfneblin” is that it was likely of Scandanavian origin, possibly borrowing words from Germanic languages, particularly referring to “People of the Mists”. No information on who or what those were as far as I can tell, which isn’t surprising given the sheer lack of sources on Norse myth (and those two sources we have being colored by political and religious agendas). In any case, the word got taken by Gygax and Arneson and made into a subterranean version of gnomes who, most notably, were not forced underground, but willingly led there by a certain deity.
However, this is the Pathfinder version we’re talking about, so things are a little different. Svirfneblin are kin to gnomes, though they have been changed by their time below ground (though not as dramatically as spriggans, though their origins are linked.)
Indeed, like spriggans, the origin of svirfneblin in Pathfinder is tied to their reaction to the Bleaching: a malaise that saps the color and joy from gnomes that stop seeing the wonder of the world, either killing them or transforming them into serious, bitter creatures. Whereas spriggans grew to hate the relatively dull Material Plane, their anger twisting them into violent fey; the svirfneblin instead traveled underground and became bonded to the earth, staving off the bleachlings by becoming more like the fey of the underground. Whether it was the energies of the deep earth, interbreeding with their pech cousins, or the blessing of their patron deity Nivi Rhombodazzle, the Bleaching no longer affected them, though they had become different beings.
For the most part, svirfneblin resemble gnomes in physical form, though with key differences. Males are bald, only maintaining the prominent eyebrows or beards seen in other gnomes, while females have thin, stringy hair at best. Most of their hair color tends to be pale or stark white, though this is not a sign of bleaching. Their skin also tends to be the greys of the stone they tend to live surrounded by as well.
Svirfneblin tend to be insular and guarded around other ancestries, keeping to themselves mostly, though true friends can become trusted with the location of their settlements. Deep gnomes seem dour to most, but they can prove quite emotional at times, likely reflecting their enhanced fey nature. Though individual governing styles may vary, these gnome-kin are survivors first, so they typically think of the community first when it comes to decisions.
Svirfneblin are agile and empathetic, but their small size makes them physically weak, and their isolation makes them distant from others.
The dangers of the underground are many, so most deep gnomes train to dodge and avoid incoming attacks.
Being a darklands people, their night vision is nearly unparalleled.
With a bit of luck from their patron deity, these gnome-kin are a bit luckier in avoiding harm.
They are also perceptive and often trained in alchemy, to say nothing of their skill at remaining unseen, especially in rocky terrain.
The deep gnomes also have a long history of conflict with duergar, kobolds, and troglodytes, so they train to better fight them.
While not as famous for it, svirfneblin have a similar understanding of stone that dwarves do.
Like many denizens of the deep, they have a natural resistance to the energies of magic which can come in handy in a pinch.
They also possess a handful of natural magics, ranging from protection from divination, blurring their appearance, disguising themselves as someone else, and cursing a foe with the loss of a sense.
Of course, some svirfneblin are built different. Some have exceptional resistance to poison and disease, meanwhile some still train to fight the evil fey they originally went underground to keep in check, being both skilled in slaying them and resilient against their magic. Finally, some deep gnomes are stone seers, able to shape, speak with, and enchant stone rather than their typical inherent magics.
With their dexterity and wisdom, svirfneblin lend themselves quite well to wisdom casters, stealthy characters, and ranged characters, with cleric, druid, gunslinger, ranger, rogue, and shaman being natural choices. They do have the typical Small ancestry debuff to strength, making direct melee builds unfavorable to them. However, the massive penalty to charisma means you have to work HARD to make any social role or charisma caster work. Even then, don’t be afraid to experiment here. There are ways to make even the most “sub-optimal” build work.
That will do for today, but we will continue on tomorrow!
