If your thirst for exploration continues to mount, there are always going to be a few tourist destinations that you still haven't visited yet. That's right! Remember that India is a vast country. It is full of surprises no matter in which direction you look. You can move beyond the various tourist places to visit in north India or northern states.
When you look at the Northeast or a city such as Jaipur or Jaisalmer in Rajasthan in the west, every location has a different charm and you are drawn to them for the simple reason that all of these places have a distinguishable experience to offer. We are going to talk about a few very diverse travel destinations in various states across India. You will come across tourist places in Punjab, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, and many more areas. Let's begin:
The Majestic City of Agra:
The city of Agra is like a jewel in the crown of Uttar Pradesh. The 7th wonder of the world which is the Taj Mahal is a beacon of the unrelenting and undying love of a king for her queen that attracts thousands of tourists from all across the globe. It is not just an impressive structure but a symbol of the diverse heritage and history that our nation is known for. And yes, the view of the Taj Mahal at night is even more breathtaking than what is described in several newspapers, blogs, articles, and travel brochures.
The Beautiful Town of Dharamshala:
If you are looking for great tourist places to visit in north India and something that can be your recluse or escape from the hustle and bustle of your city, Dharamshala should be on top of your list. It is also the home to the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama. It is a beautiful hill town located in Himachal Pradesh and the awe-inspiring view of the Dhauladhar range from various locations of this hill station makes the experience even more awesome. It is a popular spot known for nature activities, forts, and museums.
Amritsar, The City of Legends:
If devotion and patriotism had a name, it would be Amritsar. it is one of the most loved tourist places in Punjab and is the center of spirituality, Home to the Golden Temple, Sri Harmandir Sahib, this city apart from being the most significant pilgrimage site for Sikhs is also home to the most amazing street food under the sky.
Morni - The Zenith of Haryana:
People often say that Morni Hills Chandigarh is the crown of Haryana. It is also the only hill station in this state. Authorities and the government are now developing Morni Hills as one of the hottest sports destinations in the country. Activities such as motor boating, paragliding, hiking, and camping are already quite popular in this region.

Morni is just a couple of hours or less from Chandigarh. It is surrounded by lush greenery and undisturbed foliage. You will also be surprised to see the number of restaurants and cafes on your way to Tikkar Tal. Being away from the city yet so close to civilization just makes your drive to Morni even more fun.
Rishikesh is Where Yogis Live:
Rishikesh is without a doubt a yogi's paradise and one of the most popular tourist places to visit in north India. It is located on the banks of the river Ganga on the foothills of the Himalayas. Your trip to the state of Uttarakhand is going to be incomplete without paying a visit to Rishikesh.
It is the perfect summer escape and an early morning walk across Tapovan is going to be refreshing and enlightening at the same time. The bank of the river Ganga is dusted heavily with grey granular sand that feels like feathers under your feet. Rishikesh is reachable via a very solid road network within 5 hours whether you are in Chandigarh or in the national capital.
Jaisalmer The City of Kings:
Located in the heart of Rajasthan, Jaisalmer is known for its groundbreaking architecture and works as a portal to transport you to the glorious times of Kings and Queens. Also known as the Golden City by many, it has some of the most inspiring hotels, homestays, and hospitality centres that have been converted from ancient havelis giving you an experience that nothing else can rival.
As we said before, India is full of surprises. Every state has a different taste, a different flavour to offer. If you haven't made an itinerary yet, do it now!

My two cents on Shogun finale with spoilers:
I think the way this finale was handled can be used as a fine example of how to subvert expectations in the *right* manner. This is not the kind of ending that would make us go WTF after momentary shock value only to disappoint us terribly but an ending which might not be what I - as a show only fan had predicted - but one which makes sense in the longer run like all the pieces of a puzzle falling into place to make a beautiful picture.
The actual event of the battle matters not as much as the actions of the people involved who contributed to its occurrence and affected its results. The wheels of fate are already in motion. We know that, come what may, Toranaga shall prevail. But that is a tale for another day. The one which we have been following until now was about Toranaga fighting against all odds and carefully setting the stage in order to achieve his dream, about Blackthorne who started his journey as an outsider in a foreign and hostile land with less than noble intentions finding a home in that place and about Mariko who patiently strived to fulfill her destined purpose and add meaning to her existence. And so she did. For even after her death, her presence was imbued in almost every scene leaving an everlasting impact on them.
The misleading opening of the episode with an aged Blackthorne who seemed to be back in England reminiscing about his days at Osaka clinging onto Mariko's crucifix was done in a clever manner. I was momentarily led to believe that Blackthorne might get to sail home afterall and I failed to understand why they would do that. But the lines between what was a fleeting dream and reality became abundantly clear when I witnessed Blackthorne letting go of Mariko's crucifix into the oceans. Mariko had become one with her homeland and by living there forever, Blackthorne had become one with her.
The writing of Shogun also shows us how one can make significant changes to certain characters and their relationships that differ from the source material and handle them wisely while adapting a story which is linked to the actions of its key players. Mariko's friendship with Ochiba and Ochiba's regard for her paid off because her death led Ochiba to withdraw her support for Ishido, even if she wasn't going to ally with Toranaga. This particular change from the books affected the plot and in a meaningful way. It's an achievement which certain other adaptations that introduce drastic changes without any regard for the overarching plot cannot boast of.
As a MariThorne shipper, I was left satisfied albeit in a bittersweet sense because while John had lost Mariko, his love for her still persisted. It was heartbreaking but this is a tragedy well done. One that I would remember forever. The last scene was oddly satisfying because, even if he doesn't know it yet, Blackthorne is exactly where he belongs now.
The acting was stellar as usual. Cosmo Jarvis and Tadanobu Asano deserve a special mention for this episode while Hiroyuki Sanada never disappoints. I'm grateful to the entire team of Shogun for delivering a show that I enjoyed wholeheartedly until the very end. And off I go to read the book next.

last chance
Tumblr media
pairing: kuroo tetsurou/reader wc: 860 tags: pre-relationship, fluff, high school setting (third year), bad flirting, kuroo is really trying
Tumblr media
"What'd you get for number 8?" Kuroo asks as he leans over you.
"Umm," you tilt your head and the golden light of the late afternoon sun flickers across your cheek. "I think I put down 1868 to 1912."
"Wait, seriously?" He claps his hand on his forehead. That's five questions he's probably got wrong now, not to mention he'd barely finished writing his second essay, meaning the maximum possible grade he could get is...
"I hate history," he grumbles, trying to redirect his train of thought from its depressing destination. "I'm never taking it in university."
You sigh ruefully. "I feel the same way about chemistry. The moment I walked out of yesterday's exam, every piece of knowledge about thermodynamics just—" you wave your hand near your temple, "—vanished."
"Bet you're glad I gave you my notes though, right?"
The train doors slide open and a crowd of students from another school shuffle in. His legs brush against yours as he tries to make more room around him.
"Only because I gave you my English notes," you counter dryly, moving your bookbag onto your lap as a freckled teen slides into the seat beside you. The small plastic Keroppi charm on its side swings erratically against your thigh.
"A more than fair trade," he reasons. "Especially since I was getting the highest mark in chem, while you were just below Takaichi in English."
"Takaichi's mom is from New Zealand," you reply, with a roll of your eyes. "He's been practically fluent since he was born. Plus, your handwriting sucks, so you get points taken off for that."
Kuroo snorts, but has no choice but to concede. After all, he can barely read his own notebooks from last semester.
He watches as the Tokyo cityscape rushes past, still thrumming with life, even as the sun dips low in the sky. It's hard to imagine an afternoon where he won't be packed into the subway at this time, with his loosened Nekoma uniform tie around his collar, and your occasional company on the afternoons he's able to catch you at the school entrance.
His short spell of mourning is interrupted by the announcer as the train pulls into a familiar station. You both exit onto the platform and make a beeline towards the escalators.
"I'm not staying in Tokyo," he says, as you're halfway through the barriers.
Keroppi's face smacks against your zipper as you pause. "Oh?"
"I'm going to Osaka," he continues, weaving through the crowd. You fall into step beside him and there's a second in which Kuroo thinks he's vastly overestimated his importance in your life.
"That's..." He watches as a crease forms between your brows. "I thought you were going to Tokodai."
"Nah," he says, re-adjusting the strap of his bag. "I think it'd be good to gain some independence, you know?"
"Right," you say, tucking your Suica away. The sound of the city fills in the quiet that follows as you step out of the station.
Truthfully, Kuroo had been hoping for something—anything—more than the pensive silence that now settles between the two of you as you both walk the last few blocks of your high school era. But as you round the corner, the weight of the moment only grows heavier.
From his peripheral vision, he can tell you're sulking with your lips turned down in a pout that you probably aren't even aware of. And even though you've never admitted it to anyone, he's not oblivious to the way you can barely hold his gaze for more than two seconds, or how you linger at the intersection when you part ways.
"You know," he says, as you both stand before a crosswalk, "this is probably your last chance."
Your eyes flash up at him.
"What do you mean?"
He straightens up.
"Your last chance to admit that you're in love with me," he blurts. He had meant for it to come out a bit smoother, maybe aiming for a kind of teasing tone, but something had gone horribly wrong in the last second. Embarrassingly, he feels his own cheeks grow hot at the boldness of his declaration.
The crosswalk indicator changes, but you're both frozen in place.
You blink, looking absolutely bewildered, and he begins to fear that he's broken you.
And then an odd sound emerges from your mouth—a short snicker, followed by an open burst of laughter. Your giggle seems to carry over the noise of the traffic around you and Kuroo tries very hard not to die right then and there.
Instead, he forces himself to laugh along. How could he have miscalculated so bad?
He's sure he'll remember this moment for many sleepless nights ahead.
"Don't worry," you say later with the world's most bemused smile, as you near his building. "It's not my last chance."
Kuroo works up the courage to look you in the eye.
"After all, I still have our graduation ceremony."

A few more weeks had slipped by, each day bringing Toru closer to the edge of his sanity. The once familiar rhythm of his life had been disrupted, thrown into disarray by the growing distance between you and him. No matter how hard he tried to push aside his feelings, they continued to gnaw at him, a relentless reminder of what he had lost.
Every passing day seemed to deepen the void that had formed in his heart, leaving him feeling hollow and incomplete. The ache of longing grew more pronounced with each passing moment, a constant presence that refused to be ignored. And as much as he tried to distract himself with work and other activities, his thoughts inevitably circled back to you, to the warmth of your smile and the comfort of your presence.
But it wasn't just the absence of your friendship that tormented him; it was the way you seemed to be drifting further and further away, drawn to Suguru like a moth to a flame. Every shared laugh, every whispered conversation, served as a painful reminder of the bond you shared with Suguru, a connection that seemed to grow stronger with each passing day.
Toru's frustration boiled beneath the surface, simmering with a volatile intensity that threatened to consume him. He couldn't understand why you were pulling away from him, why you seemed to prefer Suguru's company over his own. Was it something he had done? Something he had said? The questions swirled in his mind, each one adding fuel to the fire of his insecurity and self-doubt.
And as time continued to move forward, Toru's relationship with Osaka began to move backwards. It was becoming evident that their relationship was starting to suffer under the weight of his internal turmoil. He found himself growing increasingly distant and aloof, unable to fully commit to their relationship. He couldn’t, not when he felt his heart quickly being tethered to you. Their once easy bond had been replaced by tension and unease, their conversations strained and stilted.
Osaka, sensing the growing distance between them, had tried to reach out to Toru, to bridge the gap that had formed between them. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't seem to break through the wall he had erected around his heart. It was as if he was a million miles away, lost in a world of his own making. And Toru felt horrible for it.
His guilt weighed heavily on his shoulders, a constant companion that refused to be ignored. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was betraying Osaka, the girl who had stood by his side through thick and thin during all of this. She didn't deserve to be caught in the crossfire of his internal struggle, yet he couldn't deny the growing chasm that had formed between them.
Every moment spent with Osaka was tinged with a sense of guilt and remorse, a nagging reminder of the pain he was causing her. He could see the hurt in her eyes, the confusion and frustration that mirrored his own. And despite his best efforts to reassure her, to convince her that everything was okay, he knew deep down that their relationship was crumbling beneath the weight of his unresolved feelings.
But try as he might, Toru couldn't bring himself to end things with Osaka, couldn't find the words to shatter her heart into a million pieces. The thought of hurting her, of breaking her trust, filled him with a profound sense of shame and self-loathing. He had promised to be there for her, to love and cherish her with all his heart, and yet here he was, torn between two worlds, unable to give her the love and devotion she deserved.
And as the guilt gnawed at him, Toru couldn't help but wonder if he was doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Was he destined to hurt the people he cared about most, to leave a trail of broken hearts in his wake? The thought filled him with a profound sense of despair, a fear that he would never be able to escape the cycle of pain and regret that seemed to define his life.
Yet, despite his fear and uncertainty, Toru knew that he couldn't continue to live in limbo, caught between the past and the present. He needed to make a choice, to either let go of his feelings for you and move forward with Osaka, or risk everything for a chance at true happiness.
But amidst the darkness that threatened to consume him, there was a glimmer of hope, a flicker of light that refused to be extinguished. It was the memory of you, of the warmth of your smile and the kindness in your eyes. You were his anchor in a sea of uncertainty, the one constant in his ever-changing world.
Despite his best efforts to push you away, to bury his feelings beneath a facade of indifference, Toru couldn't help but be drawn back to you. It was as if an invisible force was pulling him towards you, a magnetic attraction that defied reason and logic. And as much as he tried to deny it, to convince himself that he could live without you, he knew deep down that he was fighting a losing battle.
With each passing day, his feelings for you grew stronger, more insistent, until they consumed his every thought and action. He found himself longing for the sound of your voice, the warmth of your touch, the comfort of your presence by his side. But it seemed like you were doing your best to avoid him at every turn, adding to his frustration and confusion.
No matter how hard he tried to close the growing divide between you, to repair the fractured bond that had once held you together, it felt like you were slipping further and further away. And as Toru grappled with the realization that he might be losing you for good, he couldn't help but feel a sense of desperation and despair creeping in.
For the first time in a long time, he allowed himself to entertain the possibility that maybe, just maybe, he had pushed you away too far. And as he contemplated the daunting prospect of facing a future without you by his side, Toru knew that he would have to confront his demons head-on if he ever hoped to find the redemption he so desperately craved. And he needed to do something about it now before it actually is too late.
——
As Suguru reflected on the past few months, he couldn’t help but marvel at how swiftly his bond with you had transformed. What had begun as a casual friendship had bloomed into something far more profound, a connection that seemed to defy explanation.
He found himself irresistibly drawn to you, captivated by the melody of your laughter, the radiance of your smile, and the sparkle in your eyes that hinted at hidden depths. Each moment spent in your company felt like a stolen treasure, precious and fleeting yet infinitely valuable.
He absolutely cherished and loved the way you laughed at his jokes, the way you listened intently to his stories, hanging on to his every word as if it were the most important thing in the world. It was a feeling unlike anything he had ever experienced before, a sense of belonging and connection that filled him with joy and contentment. It was one of the main things about you that was unique compared to everyone else he’s known.
Of course, Suguru had always known there was something special about you. From the moment he first laid eyes on you, he felt a spark light up between you two. It was as if fate had brought you into his life, weaving your presence into the fabric of his very being.
In the past, he found himself often watching you from afar, admiring your grace, your kindness, and the way you lit up the room with just your smile. After that, it didn’t take too long before Suguru found himself falling head over heels for you, unable to shake the feeling that you were meant to be together.
However, Suguru kept his emotions carefully concealed, fearing that they would jeopardize the friendship he cherished so dearly. He had convinced himself that it was enough to simply be near you, to bask in the warmth of your presence without expecting anything more.
And despite his growing feelings for you, Suguru had always been aware of your connection with Toru. He had seen the way you looked at him, the spark of affection in your eyes whenever he was near. And knowing that you liked Toru, Suguru had chosen to keep his feelings to himself, burying them deep within his heart where they could never be discovered.
Before Toru shattered your heart with his confession about loving someone else, Suguru maintained a careful distance, knowing that being close to you would only intensify his own feelings of longing and heartache. He watched from afar as you navigated your feelings for Toru, silently suffering as he witnessed the love and admiration etched on your face whenever you spoke of Toru.
However, he wouldn’t just straight up ignore you. He could never do that to someone like you. Whenever you needed comforting, Suguru made a conscious effort to be there for you, offering a sympathetic ear and a shoulder to lean on whenever you needed it. He knew that his own feelings had to take a backseat to your happiness, and he was willing to endure the agony of unrequited love if it meant easing your burden, even if just a little.
But when news of Toru's and your situation finally reached Suguru's ears, it was as if a floodgate had been opened, unleashing a torrent of emotions he had long kept buried. The sight of you, heartbroken and vulnerable, stirred something deep within him, igniting a fierce determination to protect you from further harm.
It was in that moment that Suguru made a silent vow to himself: to do whatever it took to help you heal, to be the rock you could lean on in your time of need. And as he took the initiative to reach out to you, offering his unwavering support and understanding, he couldn't help but hope that maybe, just maybe, this would be the beginning of something more.
———
Suguru found himself unable to resist the urge to reach out to you. He knew that you had been pretty busy the past few days with work and all, but all he wanted to do was to see your face and hear your voice.
So, with a sense of determination burning in his chest, Suguru picked up his phone and sent you a message, inviting you to join him for a walk in the park. He knew that the tranquil beauty of nature had a way of soothing the soul, and he hoped that spending time together in such a serene setting would help distract you from your work.
As Suguru awaited your response, he felt a familiar tug of nerves fluttering in his chest. As he stood beneath the swaying branches of the park's trees, Suguru couldn't help but wonder how you would react to his invitation. Would you be intrigued by the idea of an impromptu outing, or would you see it as nothing more than a casual gesture between friends? Either way, he was determined to make the most of their time together, cherishing every moment spent in your company.
When your reply came, filled with warmth and gratitude, Suguru felt a surge of relief wash over him. It was as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders, replaced by a sense of eager anticipation as he prepared to meet you.
About 10 minutes had passed and not even a second later, Suguru read a message from you saying you were at the park. He texted you his exact location, showing you where he was.
When you arrived, Suguru was struck once again by just how breathtakingly beautiful you were, your smile lighting up the evening air like a beacon of hope. He couldn't help but feel a swell of pride as he watched you approach, your eyes sparkling with curiosity and excitement.
"Hey, you," he greeted you, his voice soft and warm as he reached out to take your hand in his. "I'm so glad you could make it."
As you fell into step beside him, Suguru felt a sense of peace settle over him, as if the world had suddenly slowed to a gentle rhythm just for the two of you. The park was bathed in the soft glow of twilight, the air alive with the sound of birdsong and the rustle of leaves in the breeze.
For a while, the two of you simply walked in companionable silence, content to lose yourselves in the beauty of the world around you. Though, it didn’t take long before you two decided to situate yourselves somewhere nice to relax.
As the sun dipped low on the horizon, casting long shadows across the park, Suguru and you found yourselves seated on a weathered wooden bench, bathed in the warm glow of the fading daylight. The air was filled with the soft rustle of leaves and the distant chirping of crickets, lending an air of tranquility to the bustling city around you.
"You know," Suguru began, his voice soft and gentle, "I've always loved coming to this park. It's like an oasis of calm in the middle of all this chaos."
You nodded in agreement, a small smile playing at the corners of your lips. "Yeah, it's definitely one of my favorite places to escape to when life gets a bit overwhelming."
Suguru agreed, taking in every second.
For Suguru, every moment spent with you felt like a precious gift, a fleeting glimpse of paradise in an otherwise ordinary world. He couldn't help but be drawn to you, captivated by the gentle curve of your smile and the sparkle in your eyes. And as you sat side by side, the distance between you seemed to shrink until there was nothing left but the space you shared.
"I'm really glad you invited me to come here today," you said, your voice soft and sincere. "It's been a while since I've just sat and enjoyed the beauty of nature."
Suguru smiled, feeling a warmth spreading through his chest at your words. "I'm glad you came too. It's always better when you're here."
You sighed contentedly, leaning back against the bench and closing your eyes for a moment, relishing in the peace and quiet of the park. Suguru glanced at you, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips as he saw the light outline your beautiful figure.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” he said, his voice barely above a whisper as he continued to bask in your presence.
You nodded, a soft smile tugging at your lips. “Yeah, it really is.” You finished, clueless to the fact that he was actually talking about you and not the scenery around you two.
For a while, the two of you sat in companionable silence, lost in your own thoughts as the world continued to spin around you. But eventually, Suguru broke the silence, his voice hesitant as he spoke.
“You know,” he began, his words slow and deliberate, “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately. About life, and where I’m headed, and… well, everything, really.”
You turned to look at him, curiosity shining in your eyes. “Oh? And what kind of things have you been thinking about?”
Suguru shrugged, a faint blush creeping into his cheeks. “Oh, you know, just… stuff. Like, where I see myself in five years, and what I want out of life, and… yeah.”
You nodded, sensing that there was more to Suguru’s words than he was letting on. “It sounds like you’ve been doing some serious soul-searching.”
Suguru chuckled nervously, running a hand through his hair. “Yeah, you could say that. I guess I’ve just been feeling a bit lost lately, you know? Like I’m drifting aimlessly through life, without any real direction or purpose.”
You reached out and placed a comforting hand on Suguru’s shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “I think a lot of people feel that way sometimes. Life can be so unpredictable, and it’s easy to feel like you’re just along for the ride.”
Suguru smiled and nodded at you, his eyes shimmering with love and admiration for you.
“Yeah, exactly. That was when I realized,” Suguru said, his voice tinged with a hint of self-deprecation, “that maybe it’s okay to not have everything figured out. Maybe it’s okay to just take things one day at a time and see where life takes me.”
As Suguru finished speaking, his words lingered in the air, carrying with them a sense of introspection and hope. You took a moment to absorb his sentiments, letting them sink in before offering your response.
"You’re right," you replied, nodding thoughtfully. "Life can be overwhelming when we try to plan every step of the way. Sometimes, it's about embracing the uncertainty and trusting that things will fall into place in their own time."
Suguru's eyes lit up with understanding, his smile widening at your words. "Exactly," he agreed, a sense of relief washing over him. "It's like...learning to dance in the rain instead of waiting for the storm to pass. Finding joy in the journey, even when the destination is unclear." He finished, chuckling to himself at his metaphor.
You couldn't help but smile at Suguru's metaphor, touched by the wisdom in his words. "I like that analogy," you admitted, a soft chuckle escaping your lips. "It's a reminder to appreciate the beauty in life's unexpected moments, to find happiness in the midst of chaos."
The two of you sat in silence for a while longer, the weight of Suguru’s and your words hanging in the air between you. But eventually, Suguru spoke again, his voice soft and vulnerable.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about us, too,” he admitted, his gaze flicking nervously to meet yours. “About our friendship, and how much it means to me.”
Your heart skipped a beat at Suguru’s words, a warmth spreading through your chest at the sincerity in his voice. “I feel the same way, Suguru. You mean a lot to me, too.”
Suguru smiled, a genuine smile that reached all the way to his eyes. “I’m glad to hear that. Because, honestly, I don’t know what I would do without you, Y/n. You’ve been such an important part of my life, and I don’t ever want to lose that.”
Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes as you reached out and took Suguru’s hand in yours, squeezing it tightly. “You won’t, Suguru. I promise.”
There was a warmth in your gaze, a kindness in your smile, that made Suguru's heart swell with emotion. In that moment, he knew that he had found someone truly special, someone he could share his deepest thoughts and feelings with without fear of judgment or rejection.
As the air crackled with anticipation, you couldn't help but feel the intensity of the moment washing over you. Slowly leaning in closer to Suguru, the distance between you seemed to vanish, melting away in the warmth of your shared breath. His proximity sent a shiver of excitement coursing through you, each exhale drawing you nearer to him.
In that fleeting moment, the world around you faded into the background, leaving only the two of you suspended in time. Your lips hovered mere inches apart, the tantalizing promise of a kiss hanging between you like a delicate thread. The anticipation built to a fever pitch, your heart pounding in your chest as you teetered on the edge of something monumental.
Caught in the throes of desire, neither of you dared to move, the magnetic pull between you holding you captive in its grasp. The electricity in the air crackled with unrestrained passion, igniting a fire within you that burned brighter with each passing second.
In that suspended moment, it felt as though the entire universe had conspired to bring you together, binding you to each other in a dance as old as time itself. And as you stood on the precipice of possibility, you couldn't help but wonder what lay on the other side, yearning to bridge the final gap that separated you from Suguru's waiting lips.
”Y/n…” Suguru said, his voice barely above a whisper as he felt heat rise to his face from the closeness.
But just as the tension reached its peak, the sound of footsteps approaching shattered the spell, jolting you both back to reality. Startled, you pulled away from each other, turning to see Shoko and Hime emerging from the shadows with curious expressions on their faces.
“Sorry to interrupt,” Shoko said with a mischievous grin, “but we couldn’t help but notice you two lost in your own little world over here.”
Hime nodded in agreement, her eyes twinkling with amusement. “Yeah, we thought we’d come over and see what all the fuss was about.”
Blushing furiously, you exchanged a sheepish glance with Suguru, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and amusement at being caught in such a vulnerable moment. As Shoko and Hime joined you, the four of you fell into easy conversation, the interruption quickly forgotten as laughter filled the air.
Though the moment had been interrupted, the connection between you and Suguru remained palpable, lingering like an echo in the air.
As the sun dipped below the horizon and the first stars began to twinkle in the evening sky, Suguru knew that there would be plenty of time for declarations of love and grand romantic gestures. For now, he was content to simply be in your presence, to bask in the warmth of your smile. His heart was still beating rapidly from the moment you two just shared not too long ago. Was it truly possible that you felt the same way about him as he did you? Or was all of that just simply due to the heat of the moment. The same question pondered in your own mind.
The both of you had no idea what the future held in store for the two of you, but one thing was certain: as long as you both had each other, you knew that everything would be okay…or at least you hope.

Really sorry to bother you but since from few days the gcft talk was going on on twitter i was wondering if you have a post about "Tokyo trip was supposed to be vminkook and not jikook" the famous claim by tkkrs..i know it's not but i kind of want a series of events together and why they think like that. I did went through your "jikook posts" scrolled through some but don't know how to get till that post (if you have made one). It would be helpful if you tell me what i need to search if i want to get to that post cause there's many posts there and i kinda got lost reading other posts lol 😭
thank you.
Ah, I believe that the um, misconception comes from (or they twist the words of) this interview where Jimin says that he once told V and JK that he wanted to go on a private trip to Tokyo one day. Not that they planned to go on one together the 3 of them and the plans fell through or even that any plans were made at all. Jimin just shared that he once expressed a desire for a vacation destination to his best friends at some point in the past. And then eventually he and JK did get to go on and enjoy that vacation together and it meant a lot to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can read the full interview translated here:
They also say that he was supposed to go but ended up not being able to because of family obligations (no evidence) because Tae posted a video of him in Osaka Universal Studios in Japan on Halloween at the same time on a family vacation.
Tumblr media
And Jikook in Tokyo for Halloween 🥰
Tumblr media
But clearly as mentioned in the first interview and in the book they recently released, it was clearly something the two did together, no one else was "supposed" to be there or left out lol
Tumblr media
And just because vminkook were all in Japan at the same time doesn't mean they were sneaking off to meet up secretly the 3 of them, or that it was supposed to be a trio trip where Tae just got pulled into family obligations instead. They just traveled over a small break period to two different cities and enjoyed their time off with the people they wanted and were able to. Jikook together and Tae with his family. And all enjoyed Halloween amongst the crowds and the people masked and undetected lol! Osaka and Tokyo are 6.5 hours away from each other people. They were on opposite sides of the country for their trips 😂😂 still everyone clearly had a BLAST!! You can find more links to Jikook talking about their Tokyo trip together constantly on my masterlist too 😊🥰
Hope that helps!! Lol and I didn't already have a post about this technically but for future reference, my correcting misinformation or shipper lies posts are on my masterlist under "Important Posts" and then "Correcting Misinformation."
Thanks so much for your ask!!

Gojo drove at a speed that was more dangerous than it was illegal, but who was going to stop him…Death? His hands shook as he gripped the wheel tighter. Tears made his vision blurry but he never lost sight of his destination. People assume a destination to be a place that can be pinpointed on a map, but destination is often a feeling. A feeling of being exactly where you’re supposed to be.
For the past four hours, Gojo was suffocated in a room full of the most important people of the country, all of them gathered for him, to celebrate him, to congratulate him. But he felt suffocated. His silk tie, that lay on the steps of Gojo mansion now, felt a little too tight around his neck. Now here he was, windows down, messy hair, no tie around his neck, driving towards his destination.
The black Aston Martin Victor that came to a screeching halt woke up the dozing watchman of the Gyoen park. He jumped out of his seat and marched towards the car, squinting his eyes to get a better view. The white haired man that got out of the car without sparing the poor man a glance was about to walk past him but he grabbed his elbow. “Sir! You can't be here!”. The man in black suit that towered over him looked down. “I need to get in”.
“I can’t allow that sir. The park is closed. You can come tomorrow”.
Gojo yanked his arm out of the guard’s grip and took out his wallet. “Here!”. He said as he shoved wallet in the guard’s chest. “Take as much as you want. But I need to get in. I .. someone is waiting for me”.
“But..there is..No one..”, The guard looked at the leather wallet stuffed with cash in his hand in confusion. What was this man talking about? Was he crazy? Was he with the mafia? Between accepting money and possibly angering a possible mafia, the guard chose the obvious. Though he was sure there was no one inside.
Gojo ran through the walkways towards the lake like his life depended on it, and in a way it did. In his heart he knew it was too late. Way too late. He knew you’d be gone. He knew he messed up when he saw your message but he just had to come. Because maybe…just maybe..what if you had stayed back just to spite him? Just to curse at him? He didn’t care as long as you stayed back. But as he reached the path to the lake and saw an empty bench, his heart shattered. He walked over to the plush grass and fell to his knees. His hands clenched the blades of grass as he yelled..and yelled..and yelled. Soon the yelling turned to groans and groans turned to sobs and sobs turned to silence. His eyes remained focused on the lake in front.
The vast lake that witnessed two hearts break remained calm on the surface. It wanted to tell the man at the shore how his love waited for him, how the yearning hopeful look in her eyes was replaced by blankness, but it remained quiet. It watched as the man broke down again and again but the lake remained quiet…

“Alright that’s enough”. Geto said as he took the crystal glass from Gojo’s hand.  Gojo was not a heavy drinker and Geto was not in the mood to take care of his drunk friend. “We need to clear our head and come up with a plan”.
Gojo hummed in response. “We have a strong base in Osaka already but Kyoto… that’s going to take time”. Gojo looked at the map in front of him. After his engagement with Utahime, He got the green signal to expand Gojo group’s base in Osaka.
“Right, Kyoto..”. Geto spoke as he lit another cigarette. “That stingy father in law of yours won’t give it up..god knows why. Shouldn’t he let go of all material possession at his age?”. Geto asked, letting out a ring of smoke.
“Oh he won’t. He knows that Utahime is not all that safe here and if I do anything to hurt her he could always give Kyoto to Zenin and then all hell would break loose. Why do you think my old man agreed to let her work with me?”. Gojo scoffed as he turned around in his seat and focused his attention on the laptop.
“What about y/n?”. Geto asked, a smirk ghosting his face.
Gojo looked up at him from behind his laptop. “What about her?”.
“Where does she fit in your masterplan?”. Geto ashed his stick and raised an eyebrow at his friend. “Are you going to convince her to get back with you? Is she going to marry that other guy?”.
Gojo leaned back in his chair. “No. I don’t know ..but she can’t marry the other guy. We’ll deal with him when the time comes”.
“If not that guy then maybe some other guy..you cannot ‘deal with’ every guy”.
Gojo laughed. “Can’t I?’. He asked with a hint of evil behind his eyes.
Geto, got up laughing at his friend. “Well I gotta go. Shoko would be waiting for me”. He picked up his jacket and dusted ash off of it.
“Tell her I said, Hi”. Gojo said as he threw a two finger salute.
“Will do”.

You have been working with Utahime for almost a month now and things are starting to settle in. You didn’t see Gojo much after that day but there were always fresh flowers in your office. You knew whom they were from and yet you never questioned it. Utahime had changed though. She had mellowed down, even started dressing like you a little. You didn’t notice it at first but when Hiro pointed it out to you, you couldn’t ignore it. She never brought it up and you never questioned that either. Your plan was perfect, do the work and clock out. Don’t ask questions and stay away from Gojo Satoru.
You and Utahime had developed an unlikely friendship or at least that’s what you thought. You would work together for five hours a day, often having lunch together. You had started to hate her less, Hiro on the other hand had started to hate her more.
But like in every plan, dealing with volatile variables is always a risk. In this case, Gojo Satoru was probably the most volatile variable person you had ever met. He would casually ignore you in passing, which you would never accept but pinched you, and yet there would always be these flowers on your desk. Why? Was this some sort of mindgame? So you decided to ignore him as well. You refused to spare him a glance even when he was in your eye sight.  Utahime, who was completely unaware of this game, was working on a plan of her own..
With the day almost ending, everyone was rushing to complete their work and get an early start on their weekend. You however had lost track of time and were fixated on completing this document for Utahime before you left the office. You didn’t hear the knock on the door the first time or the second time. So when the door opened to reveal a visibly shaken Utahimme Iori, you could only immediately rush to her and welcome her in.
“Are you okay? Do you feel sick?”. You inquired as you had her sit on the chair. When she didn’t say anything you walked over to your side of the table and picked up your phone. “Let me call Mr.Gojo”.
“No! Please no!”. You slowly put the phone down and stared at her in confusion. “What happened?”. You scanned her face and slowly approached her once again. “Utahime, What’s happening?”. You asked, sitting down next to her and turning your chair to face her. Utahime was fiddling with the ends of her cardigan and refused to look you in the eye. “I…I need your help”.
You swallowed hard. What help could she want from you? Did she mess up at work? You reached for her hand and held it gently. “Hey, calm down okay? Whatever it is I am sure Mr.Gojo would understand”. You smiled hoping to calm her nerves. But Utahime shook her head.
“No..it’s not work. I..I think..I think I’m pregnant”. She said, looking down at her hands in her lap.
If one could hear heartbreak, the whole office would have heard a sound that could only be described as thousands of glass windows crashing at the same time. You hand that was holding hers’ fell limp in front of you.
If your vision had not been blurred by the tears lining your lash line you would have seen the slight smirk on her face. But you didn’t. You gulped hard and took a deep breath. “That’s..that’s good news right?”. You tried, you tried to sound excited and happy. But Utahime could hear your voice break just a little.
“But we are not married y/n..I don’t know what our parents would think! My family is really conservative and if they find out..I’d be forced to marry Gojo this year and I just..I just need more time to get to know him”. Utahime ranted as she wiped a non-existent tear from her eye.
“Ummm okay. What do we do?”.
“Can you..please ..get me a pregnancy test?”.
“Me?”. You asked, wide eyed.
Utahime held both of your hands with hers’. “Please y/n. You’re the only one I can trust right now”.
You didn’t know how to react. It is not everyday that you have to buy a pregnancy test for the fiance of the man you love.
“Please..y/n”. Utahime Iori would rather die than plead to the low lives like you but looking at the hesitancy on your face she did. A small price to pay.
“Okay. Stay here I’ll get it for you”.
Utahime nodded and watched you leave with your wallet.
As soon as Utahime was convinced that you were gone she got up from the chair and stretched her hands up in the air. It was hard to act but god, it was oh so easy to fool you. She straightened her shirt and walked over to Gojo’s cabin..
Gojo is never in a rush to get home and so even though he had no meetings or calls left for  the day, he chose to work in his office. There was always something to take care of, sometimes official, sometimes personal. But Gojo was never really “free”. Things had been quiet at home, Utahime had kept to herself and Gojo saw this as a win. But quiet does not always mean peaceful, for his mind was still planning…
He too didn’t hear the knock on his door and only when Utahime walked in without asking did he look up from behind his screen.
“What do you want?”. He asked. Rather harshly but Utahime was used to it.
“I need to talk to you”. She said, crossing her arms over her chest.
“I’m busy”. He said and focused his attention back on his screen.
“It’s about y/n”. Utahime said, her voice loud and clear with a hint of fake anger in it. Now Gojo was intrigued.
“What about her?”.
“She…she…”. Utahime pretended to be at a loss for words, but she had practiced it countless times in front of the mirror.
“Utahime!”. Gojo warned.
“She just came into my cabin, almost in tears..”.
“What did you do?”. Gojo asked, eyebrows knitted in concern, closing his laptop. His words stung her but she kept her cool knowing she was about to hurt him ten times over.
“She thinks that she might be pregnant”.
Gojo Satoru forgot how to breathe at that moment. The air..sanity…rationality leaving his body. He blinked at his fiance. Y/n…you…were..”No way”. He said. Trying to convince himself rather than deny the fact.
“She has gone to the pharmacy to get tests and said she …she needed me to be with her as she was scared”.
“Why are you telling me this?”. His eyes were boring holes into her skull but Utahime continued the act. She scoffed and pulled herself a chair. “So that when she suddenly goes on a leave, you don’t suspect me of harassing her”.
“Why should I believe you?”.
“Don’t believe me if you don’t want to..she will be returning soon. You can just ask her yourself. Just don’t blame me, okay?”. Utahime flashed him a pressed smile and walked out of his office.
Gojo leaned back in his chair staring at the door. Was this one of her plans or were you really pregnant? No matter how logical a person is, when it comes to someone they really love, logic takes a back seat and emotions take over the train of thoughts.
Could it be Hiro’s? Has to be. His heart ached more than ever knowing that you had really moved on. You were gone. You were in love with someone else and now…now you were with a child..that wasn’t his. Any normal man would have been happy but Gojo is not any normal man..
You clenched the brown paper bag tightly. You had no reason to be nervous and yet you were sweating in the cool air of the building.Your eyes were burning with holding back tears since Utahime told you about her situation. The elevator was taking forever and each second passed like an hour. When the elevator bell dinged you took a deep breath but as soon as the doors opened your breath got caught in your throat. Inside the elevator was only one man. The man you have been trying to avoid. His blue eyes locked in yours.
“Aren’t you getting in?”. Gojo asked in a stern voice, his eyes moving to the brown bag that you were trying to hide behind you.
“I..I’ll take the next one”. You cursed at yourself for this pitiful excuse.
“But there is no one else waiting, y/n. Get in”.
You knew this was an order and you stepped inside the elevator. “Aren’t you getting out?”. You asked, looking at him as the door closed behind you. “No”. Was all he said. You turned around to face the door, moving the bag in front of you.
“Where did you go?”. Gojo asked, leaning against the metal wall.
“Out”. You replied immediately.
“At this time?”. Gojo scoffed.
“It’s only..6:45”.
“Shouldn’t you be getting off work?”
“I have things to take care of”.
“What’s in the bag?”.
“Medicines”.
“For whom?”.
“For me”. You lied, you had to. Utahime told you she didn’t want Gojo to find out yet and you couldn’t do that to her.
This was it, Gojo couldn’t bear it any longer. He reached forward and pressed the stop button causing the elevator to come to a halt. You almost lost your balance by the sudden jerk but Gojo grabbed your hand carrying the bag, trapping you between him and the wall.
“What are you doing?”. You asked, looking up at him with furrowed brows. Not waiting for an answer you reached for the help button but Gojo grabbed your other hand and pinned it above you. He took the paper bag from your hand and dangled it in front of your face.
“What’s in this?” He asked again.
“I told you..it’s meds for myself”.
His face was inches away from yours and you saw the tears lining his eyes. Did he cry? Did Utahime tell him everything?
“Y/n..”. His voice broke and a tear escaped his eye and rolled down his left cheek. “Tell me the truth”.
You stared dumbfounded at him. What truth was he talking about? What was he expecting to hear from you? Before you could formulate a sentence Gojo let go of your hands and took a few steps back. He tore open the bag and three different pregnancy tests fell on the floor.
“So it’s true”. Gojo chuckled looking at the tests on the floor as he wiped tears on the back of his hand.
“Gojo..”. You gulped and took a step towards him, trying to calm him down.
“Why?!”. He yelled, his eyes demanding answers from you.
“Whose is it?”. Gojo knew that it had to be Hiro’s but he wanted to hear it from you. Your confusion only grew bigger, why was he asking that and what were you even supposed to answer? Was Utahime cheating on him and that’s why he was asking this? But still you knew you had no right to answer that question. “It’s not confirmed yet and if it is then you would know whose it..could be”.
“I don’t believe this”. Gojo sighed, leaning against the wall he took a deep breath to calm his nerves.
“I..Look I don’t..”. You didn’t know what to do. Was he crying because he was happy or because he didn’t want to have a kid?
“I know. Utahime told me everything”. Gojo looked up and smiled at you. A sad smile. He pressed the button again and the elevator started with a jerk. Gojo picked up the tests, took your hand in his’ and placed the tests in your hand. He remained quiet and when the door opened he walked away to his cabin.
You were in a daze as you walked over to your cabin. What just happened? Should you tell it to Utahime or would it cause more problems? Why did your chest feel so tight? You wanted to be happy for Gojo that he is starting a new family but..you weren’t. Guilt enveloped you as you walked in your cabin and saw Utahime waiting for you.
“You’re here!”.
“Ummm..yeah. I got three ..just in case”.
You stood outside the washroom of her cabin as Utahime took the tests. You couldn't stand, you couldn’t sit, you paced around nervously fidgeting with your necklace. You didn’t know what you wanted the result to be. Regardless of whatever it was, it was not like Gojo was going to come back to you. You sniffled as you took deep breaths  to calm your nerves. Thinking about what happened in the elevator you didn’t know if this was something Satoru wanted.
After what seemed like an eternity, the door opened and Utahime looked at you with tears in her eyes.
“It’s positive”. She said in a shaking voice. You didn’t know whether to congratulate or comfort her so you stood there with a blank expression on your face. Only when you saw the smile of relief on Utahime’s face did you let out a sad smile of your own. Utahime groaned as she wiped her tears.
“I was nervous for nothing. When you left I told Satoru about the scare and he was…he was so supportive y/n. I am so happy”. She said as she hugged you. You were frozen in your place.
“Con…congratulations”.

Gojo’s overly organized study room now looked like it had been struck by a hurricane. His best friend stood leaning against the wall in a corner and watched his friend lose his mind. Gojo stood in the middle of all the wreckage, face fixed on the floor, hair all over the place, face covered in sheen of sweat and streaks of tears. He wanted to do more…wreck the wreckage and do it all over again but his limbs hurt now, his heart hurt too and his eyes stung.
“Satoru”. Geto decided to step in, he had let Gojo do as he pleases but he couldn’t see him suffer anymore.
“Why?”. Gojo asked again, probably for the fifth or the hundredth time. “Why?!”. He yelled and fell on the carpeted floor.
Geto sat down next to him on the floor. “It’s fine. This does not mean anything”. Ghetto tried to be rational, but oh did it mean everything to Gojo. Gojo chuckled and let his head fall back as he closed his eyes, and then he laughed. He laughed like a man who had lost his mind, and maybe he did. What pierced his heart was not the apparent child, it was the fact that you were with another man, that another man dared lay his hands on you, touch you, feel you in a way only he deserved to. He couldn't bear the image in his head, your eyes closed, mouth agape, breathless whispers and moans that were only reserved for him were not tainted with the name of another man.
“I’m going to kill him”. Gojo declared with a smile on his face. Getoo’s heart skipped a beat for he knew that Gojo could in fact do it.
One floor above Utahime smiled to herself as she heard the crashing noise from below. On any other day she would have been concerned but not today. She wanted this to happen, she wanted to push Gojo to the edge of insanity, she wanted him to be angry, for a raging bull sees no logic. She opened a bottle of red wine and poured herself a glass, standing in front of the mirror she toasted to herself and gulped down the entire glass.
Sitting in a plush chair she thought to herself, there could be two outcomes. One, where Gojo would be repulsed by you and would probably sleep with her to get some sort of revenge, it’s a win for her. Two, Gojo might not end up in her bed but at least now he won’t end up in your..a win. She took a deep breath and reached for her phone on the nightstand..
Utahime : I did it.
N : Good.
Utahime : This better work
N : It will.
-X-
You clutched your chest tightly as you lay in a fetal position on the floor of your dingy apartment. You forgot for just long you have been crying for. It felt like the whole world was coming to an end and everyone except for you were prepared for it, everyone except for you were sheltered safe in their houses with their loved ones, everyone except you knew the exit to this hell hole, and you..you lay in the middle of the wreckage, exposed to the brutality and no one to shelter you and no place to call home.
Every sliver of hope slipped through your fingers day by day and yet you wished like a fool. You hated and loved the man at the same time. You wanted to run away from him but run towards him at the same time. You wanted to accept fate and fight the gods for it at the same time. Why? You asked yourself, Why can’t you have the happiness others had? Did you not deserve it? Did you not deserve a sunny day after a storm? Then why after every storm there seems to be another one coming at you with twice the intensity? How many times must you break for the gods to pity you? Or had they forgotten about you just like he did.
You got up, with wobbling feet you made your way towards the table where you had discarded your bag. You stared down at it and pulled out the resignation letter you had carried everyday since the day they got engaged. Maybe tomorrow you will have the courage to walk away, what was left to stay for anyway? You pulled out the old black and white photo from your wallet and stared at it..The woman in the photo looked like you but it wasn’t you. She was glowing, she seemed happy and her smile..it was the brightest smile you had ever seen. You tried to stretch your lips to mimic that smile but it was impossible. The man whose hands wrapped around her waist had his head resting on her shoulder, his smile was different than hers’, while she smiled in joy he smiled in contentment.  Now you wondered if he ever smiled like that with her. In your depressed state you didn't notice that one of the photos was missing..
The walls of your apartment seemed to be closing in on you with each passing second and you just needed to get out. Unfortunately for you Hiro was out of the city for the next few days though he never really mentioned why. So you washed your face and slipped into blue jeans and white jumper. It was getting cold out and you decided to carry your jacket, just in case.
Monet, the closest bar to your place, was not crowded at this time, which surprised you. As it was always full with people winding down after a long day at work. But tonight the crowd seemed bleak. Even the music they were playing was different from the usual one. You shrugged off the cold feeling and took your place on a bar stool. You were not there to talk to anyone, or even look for someone to take home, you just wanted to escape.
Jerry, the bartender, knew you as he lived in the same apartment building. He offered you a courteous smile and asked, “regular?”.
“Yeah, slow night tonight?”. You asked him, looking around at an almost empty room.
“Not really. Some hot shot booked the entire bar tonight. You saw the bouncers at the entry?”. He asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah. But they didn’t stop me”.
“Probably cause they thought you were with the group”.
You both chuckled and Jerry soon placed your drink in front of you and disappeared to the other side of the bar. You took a deep breath, feeling much lighter now, and took a sip of your drink. The cool air carried the smell of some expensive perfume and you looked over your shoulder to see a group of men in black suits sitting on the plush couch in the other end of the room, between the group of black suit clad men sat a man in white suit with blond hair. He looked young and yet his aura commanded the respect of everyone he crossed paths with. You sighed and focused your attention back to your drink. He was yelling something at a waitress and you rolled your eyes in annoyance. Another spoiled brat.
You could not shake off the image of Gojo crying in the elevator. He was clearly angry and upset but why? If he loved her enough to agree to marry her and was clearly attracted to her then why was he upset? Because of his family? Or her family? Or both? Would they rush the wedding now? Do you even want to be present when they make that announcement? Will he invite you? Or will she?
“Hi”. You were snapped out of your thoughts by the man who was leaning to your right, scanning you with his cat-like eyes. His voice was smooth and his white suit was in impeccable condition.
“Hi”. You said sheepishly and took another sip from your drink.
“What are you doing here?”. He asked.
“Ummm I’m sorry I didn’t know that this was a private event and…the guard didn’t stop me either so I thought I might as well have a drink. I’m sorry if I am interrupting”.
The man chuckled and shook his head. He sat on the bar stool next to yours and raised his finger for another drink. “A beautiful woman like you should not apologize, and no you are not interrupting anything darling”.
You chewed on your bottom lip. The nickname left a bitter taste in your mouth.
“What’s your name”. The man asked, looking at you through the mirror behind the counter. He chuckled again. “Don’t worry. I am not trying anything on you. Got bored of the meeting and boardroom talk and you seem …not boring to me”.
“I am Rika”. You gave a fake name for your safety, smiling a little. It seemed good to talk to someone who didn’t know about your misfortunes because now you could be anything you wanted to be and yet you knew you had to be careful.
“Nice to meet you Rika. You can call me…N”.
You chuckled, “That’s an interesting name”.
“What is a woman like you doing all alone at this time of the night?”
“Getting a drink”.
“Let’s play a game Rika, I guess your story and you guess mine, how does that sound?”.
“Sounds good”. You said smiling and turned your stool a little to face him and he did the same.
“Alright..you are clearly a beautiful woman and yet you are here. You sat alone and that tells me you weren’t looking for a man either.Your eyes are puffy so that tells me you have been crying for a very long time .So…a heartbreak? Perhaps the person you love is in love with someone else. You look pale…almost weak so I have to guess that you live alone. You almost rolled your eyes at me so maybe the guy that broke your heart is a rich snob”. N spoke without breaking eye contact and it made you wonder, were you that predictable?
You laughed nervously and took another sip of your drink. It was your turn now and you examined him. You were not too good at reading people but you had a strong intuition. You tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and his eyes followed your move.
“Okay. You are clearly where you want to be, this place I mean. Your clothes are too expensive for this side of the town and you booked an entire local bar to have a meeting? Men like you despise places like this and yet here you are so that tells me that you wanted to be here, perhaps you even suggested this place. You said that you were bored of the work talks but that’s not entirely true is it? You don’t hate work talk, you hate talking to people who you consider are beneath you in some way. In short…yes I don’t like rich snobs”. You gave him a pressed smile and got off the stool.
“You’re leaving already?”. N was puzzled.
“Yes I am. If I want to talk to someone who thinks I am beneath them then I would just go to work. Thank you for letting me have my drink though”. With that you grabbed your bag and walked out of the bar without sparing him another glance.
N let out a chuckle. “She's feisty! Gojo Satoru has taste. I’ll see you soon y/n l/n”. He said to himself as he watched you close the door behind you.
You took a week off work. You had to. You didn’t want to be in the office when everyone started congratulating the blessed couple and moreover Hiro was still not back and it was worrying you sick. You had texted him but he hadn’t replied which was quite strange of him but you shruged it off. You had set into a comfortable timetable. Your day started with going for a walk around the neighborhood, getting coffee on your way back, making breakfast, shower, cooking and then a sweet afternoon nap. You were less stressed and it made you wonder if this is how you were actually supposed to live your life.
You sat on the floor with bills stacked neatly on the coffee table. You had two more down payments on the loan and then maybe you’ll start living the life you want to live. You sighed and took the last sip of your coffee.

It was the day you were getting back to work again. But you didn't feel drained. You didn't feel sad. You certainly didn't feel like the weight of the world was on your shoulder. You weren't happy either, you had accepted the fact that life had moved on while you were still sitting on the bench by the lake. But now you want to catch up to everyone.
Looking in the mirror you smiled at yourself. You were positively glowing. Perhaps the break was necessary. It had been five days since you didn't go to work and surprisingly Utahime didn't call either. For that you wondered if she was being a good boss or she just didn't care about you enough.
But Uthaime cared for you. Her plan had worked out perfectly and was beyond happy. Gojo spent less time in his study and though he didn't seek comfort in her arms he didn't push her away either when she wrapped her arms around him. It was a win. But she knew still water runs deep and Gojo had something going on, why else would he spend so much time with Geto? But she had a man in her corner too, who was just as powerful.
Gojo on the other hand was counting days. He knew you would probably take some time off of work but he didn't know how much it would affect him. When the entire office had gone home for the day, Gojo would spend time in your office. It was the only place where he felt closer to you. Though it didn't smell like you after two days, he would often sneak around and find some note that you had scribbled, some page of a file that you had bookmarked, some line on the page you had underlined. All of it mattered to him but what mattered to him the most was what he found on his third night in your office.
He had been sitting on your chair and going through the junk in your drawer when he dropped on your pens. He pushed the chair back and bent down to pick it but he noticed something else, something small, something black and white, caught between the carpet and foot of the table. He carefully removed the piece of paper and sat up straight to turn on the desk lamp.
Gojo chuckled, then he smiled, then he let out a scoff and then he laughed, as he held the small square black and white photobooth photo of you and him. He was never going to give you up, he had made up his mind that even if you carried a child of another man the child was still a part of you and he would love it like it was his own but now …now as he held the photo, he knew. That all hope was not lost. That maybe…just maybe in some hidden corner of your heart you still had space for him.

Miwa had informed Gojo that today was the day you were returning to work. Like everyday he had arranged for fresh flowers to be placed in your cabin. He had designed his schedule meticulously to get to talk to you. He felt like a school boy who was seeing his crush after the summer vacation. Nonetheless he was looking forward to seeing you.
When he saw you walk towards your office with a smile on your face he smiled too. You were positively glowing, you looked healthy too and it made him happy. He wanted to talk to you but now was not the time. There were other pressing matters to attend to.
You were greeted with the same flowers and it made your heart skip a beat. Why? Why were they here? You took the flowers and kept them in a corner behind your chair so that they would be out of your sight. Gojo Satoru was really an enigma. Why is he sending you flowers now? You made it a point to talk to him about it.
"You look well". Uthaime chirped as she entered your cabin. She was wearing her signature Chanel suit with court heels.
"Thank you". You said, straightening up. Utahime hummed and scanned the room, looking for a particular bouquet that her finance usually left for you. When she didn't see it her smile only grew.
"Well I am so glad you're back! I felt so lost without you!". She said as she held your hands.
"Oh, you should have called me if it was urgent".
"Oh no no. Nothing related to work, it's just that… after the whole …you know …the thing … I really missed having you around". Utahime tried her best to sound genuine. Why should she ever miss having you around? The past week has been her best week ever since she started working here.
"Oh right. How are you feeling now?". You asked, chewing the inside of your lip.
"Much better. We went to the doctor and she just confirmed it. Satoru is being really supportive".
"That's good". You gave her a pressed smile.
"Anyway, let's talk after lunch. It's good to have you back y/n". Utahime said and closed the door behind her.
There was so much to do aside from work, You had to confront Gojo but before that you needed to talk to Miwa. So you grabbed your phone and made your way straight for her cubicle.
Miwa wasn’t there in her chair, but you knew she was in the office given her navy blue cardigan hangin on the chair. You waited for a couple of minutes and were about to leave when you saw her heading your way.
“Y/n! I missed you”. She cheered loud enough for the whole room to hear and hugged you tightly. It felt good.
“I missed you too. But it felt good to take some time off of work”.
“You are glowing tho!”. He said as she canned your face.
“Miwa..have you heard from Hiro?”.
Miwa took a step back and looked at with a puzzled gaze. “No I haven’t. Last time I saw him was.. last monday I guess. Don’t you guys live in the building?”.
“We do but I haven’t seen him all week. His door is locked and he hasn’t really replied to any of my messages. Can you check if he has taken an extended leave?”.
Looking at how concerned you were, Miwa agreed easily. she sat down in her chair and typed away his details in the portal to check. Perks of being CEo’s secretary was that she had access to everyone's record in the company.
“Yeah, it looks like he has taken a leave for two weeks. So I guess he should be back by this Friday”.
You sighed in relief. Though you didn’t know where he was and why he had taken a leave for two weeks but you knew when he’d be back. “Thank Miwa. I should get back to work now. Let’s meet for lunch”.
Miwas smiled and nodded and you left her to her work.
There was an unsettling feeling but you brushed it off and decided to distract yourself with work. You saw Gojo in passing multiple times but ignored him. You decided to deal with him on your own terms. But how? How to approach him without Utahime noticing? It almost seemed impossible as you were sure she had her eyes on him. But the opportunity presented itself when you got a text.
Gojo : We need to talk.
Y/n : Yes we do.
Gojo : Rooftop. 6:00 PM.
Y/n : Ok.
You kept your phone away with shaky hands. What did he want to talk about? Was he going to ask you to quit so she won’t feel uncomfortable? Was he going to tell you that he was getting married? Overthinking got the best of you and you found yourself staring at the clock every five minutes. 6:00 PM could not come sooner.
Gojo wasn’t doing any better himself. He had expected you to refuse. What did you want to tell him? That you were pregnant? Were you going to quit? Were you going to ask him about Hiro? He rushed through every meeting and phone call. He had even asked Utahime to leave early and used dinner as an excuse. He can’t have her interfere with this.
When the 6:00 PM rolled around you packed up and went to check up on Utahime. her cabin was empty and one of the staff told you that she left 20 minutes ago. You took a deep breath and made your way up to the rooftop with flowers in your hand.
When you walked through the door of the rooftop you found Gojo standing near the edge in his dark blue wool coat. Cold air enveloped you and blood rushed in your cheeks and nose. Gojo heard your footsteps and turned around to see you walking towards him with flowers in your hand. His lips stretched in a fond smile.
“Hi, you look cold-”. He said with a smile as soon as you were step away from him.
“We need to stop this!”. You almost yelled.you were angry and he didn’t understand why.
“What do you mean?” His calm expression was replaced by a confused one. He looked at the flowers that you shoved in his chest and grabbed them.
“This! this flower! You.. coming in my cabina and us almost…it’s..we just need to stop this now! You are starting a new life and …so am I..I guess and we can’t keep doing this and hurting people who love us!”. Tears rolled down your cheeks and you couldn’t even look in his eyes and decided to focus on your gaze to the city skyline behind him.
Gojo understood what you meant. It was only natural that you wanted him out of your life now that you had Hiro but how could he tell you that it was just impossible. He wished he could tell you everything but right now he couldn’t. Was this what you wanted to talk about? You wanted him gone for good? He failed to find words to reply to you and just stared at you.
“Please say something”. You spoke again when he didn’t say anything.
“I just..wanted to welcome you. I was told that you were sick and I wanted to send these to make you feel better”.
“Do you send flowers to every sick employee? I guess not. Then don’t send them to me either. I don’t need them! I don’t want them! I don’t need your sympathy!”.
“It’s not sympathy..no y/n. I just wanted to tell you that I lo-”.
“I fucking hate you Satoru. I never thought you would stoop so low”. You finally found the courage to look at him. At that moment you hated him. You hated him the most.
Gojo’s world stopped at that moment. He had never seen you like this. You meant it. You hated him. He could feel everything and nothing in that moment. He felt the first snow of the year fall around him, he felt the bitterness of your words in his mouth, but he couldn’t feel his beating heart, he couldn’t feel the warm tears rolling down his cheeks.
“How could you?”. That’s all he could say. How could you stand there and lie to him when you were the one who was starting a new life!
You scoffed at his audacity. “How could I? Seriously? I..Satoru I did everything. I tried to be the best girlfriend, I tried to be your support system…I tried to fit into your life.I tried to be someone you could be proud of and what did you do? YOU left me! I waited…god..I waited so long for you in that park and YOU didn’t show up! I accepted every excuse! Every apology! thinking that you will choose me in the end and you didn’t! Nothing I did was enough for you! and now…now that you have everything that you wanted you are toying with me! Why?! Is having a fiance not enough that you want a mistress too? can’t I at least get to hate you for that? Don’t I deserve to be loved like a..like a woman and not a mistress? I might not have a lot, fuck I don’t have anything but I have my dignity so please, please let me live with it”.
Your words pierced his heart but he knew he deserved it. No one else in the entire city could talk to Gojo Satoru this way and could get away with their tongue intact but he couldn’t be mad at you. “Y/n, I didn't want to upset you. Things are complicated right now but believe me I will fix everything soon".
“But I want something simple! I want someone who would put me first. I am so tired of playing this invisible game”.
Gojo tried to cup your cheeks but you brushed his hands away. “Love, please. Listen to me-”.
“Don’t, Don’t call me that. Don’t play with me anymore. I lived for the hope of us but now I am tired. Nothing you could say would make me change my mind. Even if you leave her now I know that we..we just don’t belong together. I have accepted it and so should you. I am done Satoru”. You wiped your tears and turned to walk away but he held your hand, he held it so tenderly and when you looked at his tear stained face you wondered if you had been too harsh but it didn’t matter now.
He couldn’t undo the past and you can’t take back your words. He couldn’t tell you what he wanted to tell you and you can’t find it in yourself to wish him luck for his future. Perhaps this was it. You pulled your hand and walked away. Gojo watched you walk away from him and cursed himself for not speaking up first. Had he spoken first he would have told you that he knew you were carrying Hiro’s child and he still loved you. He would have told you that he wanted to marry you and how badly he regretted everything . He would have gotten on his knees and begged for forgiveness but he stood there and watched you walk away with flowers in his hand.

Utahime sat on the table reserved under Gojo’s name. She had gotten ready in her best dress and shoes and waited patiently for him. She was almost jumping with excitement in her seat but when minutes to hours her excitement faded and fear crept in. The server had an empathetic look on his face and she hated when people looked at her like that.
“Ma’am. We got a message from Mr.Gojo. He said he is running late and will meet you at home, we have called your car and it’s waiting for you”.
Utahime nodded and offered a curt smile and walked out.
Gojo walked into the warehouse, which was entirely quiet despite being surrounded by over 20 guards and a bruised prisoner inside.
“Did he say anything?”. Gojo asked one of his henchmen.“No sir”.
Gojo nodded and removed his leather gloves , shoving them in the guard’s face. He made his way to his prisoner. The man was lying on the floor with his hands and legs tied, his face bruised up so badly that it was almost hard to recognize him. Gojo slapped him gently to wake him up and smiled when he saw his eyes flutter.
“Hello Hiro”.

Yamato: …
Sougo: …
Yuki: …
Minami: …
[Ping]
Sougo: Ah…
Yamato: What?
Sougo: Tamaki-kun replied. It seems like we are in similar situations.
Yamato: Oh, I see.
Yuki: … yawns
Minami: It’s hot today, isn’t it.
Rinto: …
Rinto: Everyone’s so quiet…
Yamato: Yeah.
Sougo: Thank you for driving us safely.
Yuki: …Oh, I dozed off.
Minami: Good morning, Yuki-san.
Yuki: Good morning.
Rinto: You really are awfully quiet. I thought you’d ask me more about where I’m driving you.
Yamato: I’ve come to learn that resisting does nothing. Not that I would normally.
Yamato: I’ve always gone along with things so… this is fine I guess.
Yuki: Fufu, well said.
Yamato: Stop commenting unnecessarily. Aren’t you as good at going with the flow?
Yuki: I’d say I’m pretty good at it.
Sougo: I try to avoid going too much with the flow, but sometimes I get lost in my judgment….Yamato-san.
Yamato: Hm?
Sougo: Should I be resisting with all my might right now?
Yamato: Not yet, Sou. Stay calm.
Sougo: Alright.
Yamato: If anything happens I’ll let you know, okay? Until then don’t try to jump into the driver’s seat and take over the wheel.
Rinto: You would do that ?!!
Sougo: I don’t intend to right now. But if Yamato-san says so I’d have no choice.
Yamato: I won’t tell you, it’s okay. I said I won’t tell you so it’s okay, got it?
Yuki: Well, we’ll get to our destination sooner or later so just relax.
Minami: We’re with familiar faces so there’s no need to worry. Especially since Re:vale’s manager is with us.
Rinto: Ahaha…Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
Yamato: …
Sougo: …
Yuki: …
Minami: …
Yuki: Yamato-kun.
Yamato: What.
Yuki: Fufu…just said your name.
Yamato: Stop being a nuisance.
Sougo: …
Minami: Osaka-san, what are you looking at?
Sougo: The guardrail pattern looks different in this area, so I was curious about it…
Minami: Ah, you’re right… doesn’t it look like a rainbow?
Yamato: Isn’t it more like a wave?
Yuki: Maybe carp streamers?
Minami: It might be a local design. Shall I look it up on my phone?
Sougo: Ah no, you don’t have to go that far.
Minami: I guess you’re right.
Yamato: …
Sougo: …
Yuki: …
Minami: …
Yamato: The conversation we had just now is meaningless, but it feels kinda nice during a road trip.
Yuki: I know.
Yamato: There’s something nice about it, it’s relaxing…
Minami: I like it. It would be nice if we could keep feeling relaxed and laid-back until the end.
Yuki: You’re saying it could get intense from here? for example?
Sougo: Like climbing Mount Fuji?
Yamato: Climbing with this group…?
Yamato: …it might be surprisingly good…
Yuki: Even if we encounter wild animals, we’ll have Sougo-kun and Minami-kun.
Sougo: I’m not so sure about my knowledge, but are you good at handling wild animals, Natsume-kun?
Minami: Osaka-san, I can’t believe you’re teasing me.
Sougo: Teasing…? How…Oh well…
Yuki: Is that okay?
Yamato: Your stupid joke is getting the same treatment as the guard rail pattern.
Minami: Fufu, you’re a very entertaining person, Osaka-san. I’ll give you this.
Sougo: What is this?
Minami: Dried plums. It’s good for salt intake.
Sougo: Thank you.
Yamato: I’ll have some too.
Minami: Of course, help yourselves. I have a lot.
Yamato: If I eat this much at once my face will shrivel up…
Minami: Don’t worry. You’re a handsome man, Nikaido-san.
Yamato: I don’t need to be flattered by someone who’s in the same group as a guy like Mido.
Minami: I’m being honest.
Sougo: I think Yamato-san is better looking than Mido-san.
Yamato: That’s an exaggeration.
Minami: He’s right.
Yamato: Natsume-chan?
Minami: No, not in a bad way.
Sougo: I don't know how to compare but, it’s more about the vibe surrounding you…Yamato-san is very reliable.
Yuki: You think so? Can you be a bit more specific?
Minami: You think Mido-san is not reliable? Can you give specific examples?
Sougo: Um…. Yes…
Yamato: Stop teasing Sou, you two. He’s a serious guy.
Yuki: My bad, force of habit.
Yuki: Hey Okarin, do you think Momo might be feeling lonely without me?
Rinto: Ahaha, I wonder.
Yuki: I think he is.
Yamato: You’re telling me that you didn’t rabbitchat him?
[Ping]
Yamato: Ah… it’s for me.
Yuki: From who?
Yamato: It’s from Mitsu. With a picture. Seems like the situation over there is the same as us. Here.
Sougo: It’s Iori-kun.
Minami: Inumaru-san is there as well.
Yuki: Momo’s not there, but Ryuunosuke-kun is.
Yamato: Somehow….
Yuki & Yamato & Sougo & Minami: looks like they’re having a ton of fun…
[Cut to another car]
Touma: Let’s go! Playin’ the most cutting-edge game driving with the best idols of this era!
Iori & Mitsuki & Ryuunosuke: Yay!
Touma: Bird-Tree-or-Fish~!!
Anesagi: Is this really the most cutting-edge game… sounds like an ancient game of wordplay…
Touma: Bird, Tree or Fish! Do you accept or not!
Iori & Mitsuki & Ryuunosuke: We accept, we accept!
Touma: Izumi, tree!
Iori: Cypress.
Touma: OK! Mitsuki-san, bird!
Mitsuki: Parrot!
Touma: OK! Tsunashi-san, fish!
Ryuunosuke: Sardines!
Touma: Alright we’re speeding up! Mitsuki-san, tree!
Mitsuki: Maple!
Touma: Tsunashi-san, bird!
Ryuunosuke: …Um, butterfly! Ah, I made a mistake!
Iori & Mitsuki & Touma: Yaaaay!!
Touma: Tsunashi-san, let’s switch!
Ryuunosuke: My bad. OK, here I come!
Iori & Mitsuki & Touma: Yaaaay!!
Mitsuki: Give us fanservice, Tsunashi-san!
Ryuunosuke: I’m not letting you go home tonight.
Iori & Mitsuki & Touma: FOOOOOO!!
Ryuunosuke: Bird, Tree or Fish! Do you accept or not!
Iori & Mitsuki & Touma: We accept, we accept!
[Ping]
Mitsuki: Wait! I got a rabbichat from Nagi, there’s even a photo attached!
Iori: Is he with someone?
Mitsuki: Looks like it. Check this photo out!
Iori: Looks like Yotsuba-san is there.
Touma: Haru is with them!
Ryuunosuke: Tenn! They look like they’re having fun over there!
Mitsuki: Nagi and the others don’t know where they’re headed either.
Ryuunosuke: Seems like Gaku is with Momo-san. So apparently Re:vale, TRIGGER, IDOLiSH7 and ŹOOḼ are all involved?
Touma: I wonder who’s the mastermind behind this.
Ryuunosuke: Doesn’t it seem like something Re:vale-san would do for their show? They’re the type to plan something like this.
Iori: Tsunashi-san, Re:vale got you tangled up in pranks like these several times, right?
Ryuunosuke: That is true.
Mitsuki: You didn’t realize that the “lost high school girls who just moved to Tokyo” were actually Re:vale, did you?
Ryuunosuke: No, I didn’t.
Touma: Seriously?! They would be hella tall high school girls!
Ryuunosuke: They had just arrived in Tokyo, got lost, dropped their wallet, and told me they were in trouble.
Ryuunosuke: I put myself in their shoes since I felt the same thing when I moved here. So I completely focused on helping them out.
Iori: What a good person…
Touma: Wait, could it be that?
Mitsuki: That?
Touma: Couldn’t it be the idol documentary Backyard Magic? You know, the show you MC for…
Mitsuki: Huh?! I don’t think so. TRIGGER’s manager is driving me after all…
Ryuunosuke: I’m sure she knows our destination…
Anesagi: No, I cannot answer any of your questions. I can answer your bird fish or tree game though.
Mitsumi: Fish!
Anesagi: Cod.
Touma: Bird!
Anesagi: Swallow.
Ryuu: Tree!
Anesagi: Cherry blossom.
Mitsuki: Wow, impressive!
Touma: As expected!
Anesagi: Fufu, well it’s not that special. Now be good children, okay?
Iori: It might be best not to pry too much…
Ryuunosuke: No point in thinking about it now. Let’s just play games until we reach our destination.
Touma: I guess so.
Mitsuki: Well then, let’s start over!
Ryuunosuke: Bird, Tree or Fish! Do you accept or not!
Iori & Mitsuki & Touma: We accept, we accept!
Iori: Judging from the situation we’re all in, it seems like our four idol groups were divided into four units…
Iori: The most logical reasoning is that it’s for the company from that other day
Iori: What a nuisance…
[Shift to a blue sky]
Iori: If I remember correctly, a few months ago…
To be continued.

The soft sound of your alarm starts shifting and growing louder, as you fumble in the dark to hit the stop button. Opening one eye to see the sun’s rays lighting up the room in a low orange glow. The light breeze through the curtains and the light is enough to get you up and begin your morning stretches with a groan. The morning routine becomes a blur as you navigate through the usual of showering, getting dressed, and eating a quick breakfast before heading out to work. Most people dread the morning commute, but it’s your personal solace to tune out the world and enjoy an hour of time to yourself. Headphones on, music blasting, daydreams carrying you through Osaka as the subway zips through the city. A buzzing sensation from your pocket interrupting your peace, but you already have a guess on who’s trying to get your attention this morning. Glancing at your phone screen, you catch the message banner before your phone goes back to sleep. Exactly on time.
Coach Foster: What’s your arrival? Y/N: Take a guess Coach Foster:...Y/N. Y/N: You’re messaging me at 6:45AM, come on now. Entertain me. Coach Foster: Knowing you, you’re probably already on the train. So, about ten minutes away? Checking your map estimate, you huff out a quiet chuckle. Damn, he’s good. After a brisk jog to your destination, you’re pushing through the doors of the athletics facility Coach gave you directions for, to see the man already waiting by the inside entrance for you.
“Are you finally going to admit that you’re my assigned FBI agent? You have to be tracking me, how else are you still this good at knowing my whereabouts Fossy” you tease as you’re pulled into a hug from the older gentleman. Samson Foster, the head coach for the MSBY Black Jackals, in his black tracksuit pulls away and looks down at you with a warm smile on his face. It’s been quite a few years since you’ve seen him, but the few greys peppered through his normally blond hair is the only telltale sign of time passing. “Let’s keep the nicknames at bay in front of the team please? I don’t need mutiny in this team too.” He shakes his head with a grimace, as he steers you inside to give you a tour of the facilities. “We can play catch up at your welcome party tonight, but for now let’s get you started on your first day.” Coach Foster begins running through the itinerary, you both make quick work of getting through the necessary formalities with onboarding. As you make your way to the medical team offices, you hear the distant shuffles of sneakers and a whistle blowing. Making a note that the courts must be closeby, Coach opens a door leading you into a room that reminds you so much of the principal’s office. Standing to the side are two individuals quietly discussing over a clipboard before looking up at you.
“There they are. You were right Foster, she’s exactly on time.” An older gentleman in a white coat looks at his watch, breathing out a laugh before bowing for introductions. “Pleasure to finally meet you, Y/N. We’ve heard only wonderful things about you from Coach Foster. I’m Dr. Preston Burke, the team physician for the MSBY Black Jackals. This here is my colleague, Iwaizumi Hajime.” You shake the doctor’s hand as you look over to the other man to his side. As you reach your hand out, the other man bows quickly before taking your hand in a firm shake. “Iwaizumi Hajime, last name comes first in many Japanese introductions as it’s standard to go by last names here. I’m the athletic trainer for the team, it’s nice to meet you.” Handshake firm, your eyes follow the hand up a strong tanned arm, to the face of a god. Ok girl, reel it in. Yes he’s good looking. The man in front of you quirks an eyebrow in reaction to a small chuckle escaping your mouth, shaking off your inner thoughts, you smile. “Thank you Iwaizumi-san, for the cultural explanation. I’ve done some prep, wouldn’t want to come into another country and disrespect anyone. Please correct me at any time if I’ve done something wrong. It’s nice to officially meet you. I’ve gotten a lot of notes from Coach Foster.” Letting go of each other’s hands, both your attention is turned to Dr. Burke’s mention of the day’s itinerary. Although the majority of the day consists of introductions, the medical staff team has some blocks to discuss structure and strategy to help you get adjusted. Thankfully a lot of the material had been shared ahead of time, so you’re able to hit the ground running today. But the introductions aren’t until later in the day, but you have a small break before the staff meetings. So you head off to your desk with Dr. Burke, to get set up. “Iwaizumi please come with me, I need your eyes on some gameplay strategies that Meian put together. He’s waiting for us on the court.” Coach Foster pats the young man’s shoulder as he nods to agree. “I promise to keep it quick so he’s back to join you both.” Coach and Dr. Burke share a quick nod before the group says their goodbyes and splits up.
The walk is quick and short down the hall to your shared office as Dr. Burke talks more about their background. You seamlessly go through the motions, bonding over the struggles of university, family back home, tips and tricks for learning the Japanese language, all the similar snags that come with international careers. It wasn’t an easy decision to just pick up your entire life and move to Japan, but the physical therapist role was one you couldn’t pass up. Dr. Burke’s reputation precedes him, the D-1 volleyball team is one of the best, and with your prior playing experience, you would be a perfect fit. Change wasn’t something you were ever afraid of, but after all the suffering through grad school and license tests you would be a sucker to not accept the perfect job. “I’m sure you had a similar experience Dr. Burke, but Coach has the charismatic skills of a car salesman who's low on his quota. After his pitch, there was no way I could refuse.” Dr. Burke’s solemn expression with a hand on his chin in a contemplative pose has you giggling. Birds of a feather, seems he was roped in just like you. It takes a few minutes to get your desk and laptop set up, before you’re given the tour. The shared office houses two desks in the front and a recessed second office for the primary physician. The room was primarily for administrative work, but the team’s main course of work would be in the medical office. Dr. Burke brings you down the hallway where you again hear the shuffles and faint shouts from the main courts. “The main gymnasium is just around the corner. The medical rooms are situated a stone’s throw away, for obvious reasons. You have a fully furnished space further down the hall, in between the medical offices and the locker room. For added privacy for your conversations, however thanks to your added experience, you’ll find yourself here or on the court with Iwaizumi-kun.” The doctor takes you around the pristine and sterile facilities, noting the rehabilitation and care equipment set up alongside private beds. Clearly the team has been doing well, and are supported financially. It’s good to see proper facilities set up to care for the players. Majority of the work falls within the Athletic Trainer role, since you’re fully licensed for psychological evaluations you can provide an added service. But essentially Iwaizumi-san and you would be a tag team pair. The doctor runs through the standard care protocol and shares where primary care on premise ends so that serious care is provided at approved medical facilities. Your hands are already full with the players’ files as he guides you back to the shared office space. “Iwaizumi-kun took all the careful notes in those files. His attention to detail has been a gift to me, honestly. Actually he used to play volleyball throughout his childhood as well. Quit playing after high school to study abroad for college, you should talk to him about that. Something for the two of you to bond over” he gestures to the files that you’re reading through at your desk. You hum in response, taking in carefully jotted notes in the margins of player statistics. Comments on postures, dietary restrictions, even tracked personal exercise routines to know where to adjust in facility workouts. Iwaizumi-san had begun to research cryotherapy equipment for budgeting pitches to the finance department it seemed like.
“If it’s cryotherapy, I know a guy who can help us cut some of these estimates down. In fact one of the player’s is also close with him. We’re friends from -” cut off by a knock on the door, you both turn to see Iwaizumi-san walk in with a wave.
“Sorry about my delay, I got caught up with Meian. What have I missed?” He notices the files in your hand and nods. “Catching up on the files? I hope my handwriting isn’t difficult to read, sometimes I can’t find my notebook in time and jot down what I can wherever I can.” Rubbing the back of his neck, he strides over to your side. You breathe out a laugh, assuring him his handwriting is neat and easy to read. You’re sharing some insight on cryotherapy research you’ve done, pulling out your phone to show him a presentation deck you had put together. Ducking his head down closer to get a look at your screen, he’s amazed by the amount of detail. Even noting slides that go into the benefits per muscular function of whole-body cryotherapy. It’s not often he meets someone who’s as passionate about the science behind the body. Glancing up at a ping on your phone, he can’t help but notice your wallpaper as it flashes by while you switch apps. “Was that…Talita Antunes as your wallpaper?” He peers over at you to see your eyes widen in surprise before you flash him the world’s biggest smile. A pang hits his heart, and the hand he’s resting on your desk to prop himself up slips a bit. Not fully catching your excited explanation about how she’s your favorite player. The room around him goes silent except for the thundering of his heart as you place your hand on his arm to show him some highlight clips of hers, impressed by the fact that you know her. Internally, Iwaizumi is making a note to buy Hinata lunch as a thank you, for drilling basic Brazilian beach volleyball facts into his head. Especially if it meant getting to see your amazing smile. A dimple popping up on one side, or the way your eyes fully crinkle to show that when you smile, your whole being exudes it. The sounds of the room slowly come back to his senses as he feels you gently pushing his shoulder. “Earth to Iwaizumi-san? Have I bored you to another dimension? Come on now, she’s too cool for you to zone out on me” You shake the man one last time, although shake should be used lightly. The trainer stood solidly, a body of muscle, needing a lot more force to cause movement. You couldn’t help but admire the sturdy feeling of muscle under your touch, shaking off the unexpected thought immediately. Taking your hand off him quickly to ensure you didn’t cross any boundaries, knowing the Japanese culture is a bit more conservative about physical touch. Hearing a soft apology, the trainer quirks an eyebrow at you, a silent ask for why. When you explain your thought on potentially making him uncomfortable, you’re met with a chuckle. “I told you he studied abroad right Y/N, he’s not bothered by that. Iwaizumi-kun lived in California for quite some time for his studies and clinical practices. Not as traditional as you think.” Dr. Burke calls out, after observing you both engrossed in your own world. It’s not often he sees his younger colleague be so carefree. Iwaizumi-kun has carried a lot of responsibility on his shoulders, especially in the early days prior to the doctor accepting the full time offer. He remembers watching Iwaizumi-kun work late night after night, taking on his own load of work so that he could go back to the hospital. Despite being the age of many of the players, he’s watched the young man carry himself with a maturity beyond his years. Although the two are close, he’s unsure if that’s his natural disposition or one he was made to mold into for personal reasons. But seeing him now, geek out about sports medicine knowledge, beach volleyball, and instinctually soften around you, warmed the older gentleman’s heart. There was clearly a natural chemistry between you two, whatever direction it goes in, all he could hope for is a happy one for the trainer. He had a soft spot in his heart for the young man, and knows that the Coach cared for the new recruit. Humming to himself, he brings his attention back to you both.
“We should be continuing her itinerary for the day, you know Iwaizumi-kun.” “Oh what? You haven’t given her the 360 degree luxury tour of our state of the art office? Well who am I to deprive her of that!” The trainer looks down at you and motions his finger in a circle; telling you to take a spin. “Luxury tour done.” A smirk plays on his lips watching you seriously take a spin in mock wonder, turning into a grin as you bite down on your bottom lip to stifle a laugh. He glances at the doctor with a raised eyebrow and a hand on the hip, silently asking what’s next on the itinerary. The three burst out into a fit of laughter from an exchange of looks, the sounds bouncing off the walls to surround the three. The moment is interrupted with a knock on the door, one of the assistant coaches peeking into the room. “Sounds like you guys are having fun, hate to interrupt that, but it’s time to meet the Jackals! Iwaizumi, can you please bring her when you’re both ready? We’ll see you in the main gymnasium” and just like he’s gone as fast as he was in the doorway. You gather yourself, turning to ask the doctor if you look nice. He flashes you a sincere thumbs up before making his way over to you. The doc gives you a gentle pat on the shoulder and a whisper of good luck as you’re pushed out the door to meet the players.
“Why are you giving me that look?” You’re able to ask over your shoulder only to hear a soft “match their energy if you can” and a laugh before the door closes.
Iwaizumi-san has a stone cold grimace etched into his face. “Do I need to be worried? You both are absolutely not setting me up for success here” you poke at the man’s shoulder to try and get more information. “You’d think I’m being sent out to war with how solemn you guys are being. Is the team rowdy or something?” This gets a chuckle out of the man as he pushes open two large double doors into the court. “Or something” he replies quickly with a small smirk that vanishes in a second. The loud sounds of sneakers squeaking and players shouting take over your entire senses. A practice match is going on, the ball is rapidly being passed back and forth across the net. A player jumps to the side before jumping up to smash down a high set.
For a player of that stature, a jumping height like that isn’t common. As if Apollo himself graced the court and grew wings to fly up to his perch in the sky. The whistle blows and the orange haired player lands on his feet with a heavy thump. Strong thighs easily absorb the shock of the jump to allow the player to gracefully stand up. Excited high fives with a blond setter are shared, cheers for a successful play. Hinata Shoyou. Gods, the matches on tv never do it enough justice. He’s always better in person. You can’t help a low whistle, coming out your mouth as you make your way to Coach’s side, unaware of the pair of watchful eyes from your side.
Iwaizumi looks down at you to gauge your reaction to the play. He’s used to dropped jaws or people stopped in their tracks when watching Shoyo play. He still remembers his first time watching him play like it was yesterday, and not more than a decade ago. Especially for a non-Japanese native who may not be familiar with all the players, the wing spiker’s jump must’ve been astonishing. But there you are, surprising him instead. Not an ounce of shock on your face but instead a giant grin and a fire in your eyes that he often sees in the players’ eye.
“Someone has secrets to spill later” he nudges you with an elbow before taking his spot on the other side of Coach Foster. Before you can respond to the insinuation, Coach is whistling the team over. In front of you stood all the players, with the starting 9 rotation in the front. A handful of them grab their towels to wipe sweat off their bodies, and take a much needed water break. Thank you Coach for allowing me this opportunity to enjoy this eye candy. You praise the gods above for boys teams being able to play shirts vs skins practices, before a hand comes down on your shoulder. “Say hello to our new physical therapist, Dr. F/N L/N. I hope everyone read the introductory email that was sent out. A lot more of her background details are shared there. She will be working with Dr. Burke and Iwaizumi on the medical team. Make her feel welcome, she’s traveled a long way to officially join our team.” He pushes you out a bit in front of the group. “Don’t know what more I can add after that introduction. Especially if you’ve already gotten my full government records shared via email, from the sounds of it. But if anyone hasn’t gotten a chance to read it, feel free to come ask any questions. I am an open book. I’m practicing my Japanese, so any guidance is deeply appreciated if I make any mistakes. I’m in your care, I look forward to getting along with all of you.” You smile and bow to the team.
The team runs through introductions and begins breaking out into groups to get back into practice. A few players linger back to chat with you excited for a new face in the group.
“Finally, a friendly and pretty addition to the team. Amen!” says the blonde setter you watched earlier. “We welcome your much needed presence on the otherwise stoic and unappealing sidelines. Miya Atsumu at your service.” He reaches his hand out with a wink. You shake his hand with a chortle “Whaaat? You’re telling me you don’t enjoy Coach Foster’s dashing looks and heart stopping smile? Come on now. Or is it that you haven’t earned his infamous dimples yet?” You quirk an eyebrow at the setter who’s looking between you and Coach Foster in shock. “DIMPLES??!” He’s immediately trying to force eye contact with Coach, who’s rapidly walking away with a grumble. Snaps his head back at you “You must tell me more. The beast of the ice land giving out smiles? What is this preferential treatment and how do we enjoy this Y/N-san?” “That’s Dr. L/N to you. Some of us are just born with it” teasingly you huff on your fingers, buffing them out on your shoulder “but I can try to teach you my ways, Atsumu-san.”  “Sticking it to you on her first day. I like her” Sakusa Kiyoomi flashes you a thumbs up, while Atsumu crosses his arms pouting on the side. “I’m Sakusa Kiyoomi, nice to meet you Doctor. Good luck fixing the mental psyche that is this kid trapped in a man’s body.” He gestures to Atsumu, and before you can break up the fight to say that’s not how sports therapy works, a boisterous laugh erupts behind you. The laugh bounces off the walls, the sound registering itself in a secure corner of your brain, holding tight so you don’t forget the sound. Scratching all the right parts. Everyone turns around to see Iwaizumi with his head back laughing before calming down to a chuckle. “I like her too, especially if she can wrangle some of you idiots this quickly. Dr. L/N is well equipped to be helping with training materials and guidance as well. She’s an athletic trainer first before you have to knock on her office door. We’ll be working together on a lot, make sure to pay attention to her and don’t give her grief…” he pauses for a second to look over at you, who’s got a strong grip on the back of Atsumu’s jersey to hold him back from Sakusa who’s found himself behind Bokuto. “Or give her all the grief. She can handle it” he finishes with a smirk and a pat on your head before walking off to assist the players on court. “....are we all going to ignore THE Iwaizumi Hajime belly laughing and teasing the new girl? Like we’re all going to scream about this at the welcome party right?” The large player protecting Sakusa, points back at the retreating trainer with his thumb questioning the group. Shocked nods from the whole group before returning their attention to you. You let go of your hold on Atsumu’s jersey with a huff.
“You guys keep mentioning a party but I haven’t gotten a proper invite. Who are you welcoming if I’m not there?” you chuckle looking at the boys.
The large player steps forward with a hand outstretched “Bokuto Koutaro, feel free to call me Koutaro! I should be surprised that you didn’t receive your invite, but considering we left that to Inu-san, it all makes sense.” The libero raises his hands in the defensive “I mixed up the order of names in the email. I forgot the first name last name thing.” Bokuto shakes his head with a chuckle “We’ll be heading out together after practice, feel free to join us. Can’t have the guest of honor not join.” “It’s time to get back to practice, boys. You can interrogate the doc later” Hinata Shoyo pipes up. He’s got a playful smirk as he rallies the boys away from you. “Take the time you need to collect yourself doctor” he sing songs while walking away. You can begin to feel the prickles of heat at the tips of your ears after the boys leave. Iwaizumi’s head pat had left you stunned, the warmth of the gesture gave you butterflies. You were not sure what to make of any of it, but wanted to make sure you didn’t give anything away on your face. You thought you got away with it, but Shoyo always notices everything. I’ll deal with him later.
It’s not often that you get flustered, let alone from someone you just met. But Iwaizumi-san’s playfulness caught you off guard. From most of the reports from Coach Foster, the trainer was described as reliable, diligent, and stern. But the man in front of you was charming, attentive, respectful, and expressive. And extremely easy on the eyes.
Despite being surrounded by all the players, you often found your eyes peering over at your colleague. Half the fun of watching the rest of practice was watching Iwaizumi-san in action. You observed as Iwaizumi walked around the sidelines of the court observing each practice group. Helping correct posture mid play to ensure safety. Check in on stretching sessions, to help players with new stretches that would better help pains they were dealing with. Eyes drinking in the sight of the trainer showing new stretches, bending down as each muscle in his legs flex. His shorts riding up slightly from the stretch of his thick thighs having you gulping a ghost of a frog stuck in your throat. Thoughts of your hands running across the expanse of his back before wrapping around his shoulders. Pausing your court observation to physically wave away inappropriate thoughts. Crushes aren’t a new concept but this was something you hadn’t felt since you were in middle school being hit with puberty’s wrath.
It’s not that he wasn’t all the characteristics Coach had shared, he was all that and more. Often stopping by your spot on the sidelines to point out other players and their common concerns and where additional consulting later would be beneficial. Each time, Iwaizumi-san would make some type of contact with you, that would send you into a mental frenzy. Hand on the edge of your seat, fingers barely grazing your knee as he peered over your notebook. His shoulder bumping against yours as he pointed out certain players to you. Hands grabbing both your shoulders to turn you to bring your attention to a play happening across the court, grateful for your long sleeve shirt covering the goosebumps on your arms. Stand up girl, you are a grown woman!! You’re granted a respite from the internal chaos when Coach sends Iwaizumi to the captain to talk about player rotations.
Albeit your teenage heart palpitations, the rest of practice went smoothly. Iwaizumi-san and you had fallen into an effortless rhythm. After observing group dynamics and game play, you had taken notes on a few of the players. On your way over to the trainer to get his thoughts on some workout routine adjustments, your attention is brought to the court.
The team had been caught up in serve practices which was beginning to frustrate some of the players. Coach Foster had always advocated for every player running really difficult plays or shots, repetitively. Not only to build up a repertoire of skills, but he believed that the difficulty and frustration brings out a truth in how a player handles a challenge. Today he was keen on having everyone run hybrid serves, not knowing which serve he would call out mid jump. The purpose of the hybrid serve is psyching out the opposing team, and control of the court mid air. It always starts as a jump serve, but he would then call out other styles to see how well the players can control their wrist movements. It’s an exhausting drill, especially because Coach has upped the ante and placed a water bottle along the attack lines and boundary lines of the court. He was now calling out locations for the players to aim to hit. Although there were some successes, the majority of the players were missing the targets with incomplete serves from not knowing which command the Coach would call out.
At the moment of another missed target, a loud cry rang through the court. Everyone peered over to see that the usually calm Sakusa-san was bent over muttering to himself before turning to shout. “It’s not enough time! You’re not maintaining any pattern in the serve switches and the locations. No one can serve these ridiculous plays.” He was huffing with clenched fists, wild eyes scanning the Coach’s face for any reaction. Sakusa-san had been playing calmly the entire day, but you had noticed he often went to the side for individual practice. He’d often repeat the same plays for a long time before being called for a group practice. “You’re analyzing the serve too much Sakusa-san. Listen for the location, your grip will adjust to the serve style that matches the location.” The advice had slipped out of your mouth while taking notes. You hadn’t meant to say anything and look up to the group staring at you. Coach had a small smile on his face and a glint in his eyes. Realization dawning on you on the reason he was relentless with this specific drill for the team. But before either of you could express anything Sakusa-san interrupted with a short laugh. “And what would you know about this? This isn’t a matter of an injury messing with my psyche or some childhood trauma rearing its head. This is a matter of game play. I don’t need advice from someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about” he sneered. You could see a flash of regret on his face after the outburst. He was at a peak of burnout from the intense practice, but Coach Foster steps in between you both. He tosses you a ball and points to the service line. “On my whistle” he demands. Years later and you still know better than to question him when that tone comes out. With a sigh you hand your notes to Iwaizumi-san who’s failing at controlling his face, a mix of concern and confusion. “It’s been a long time you old fart…if I embarrass myself…” he hears you grumble to yourself as you get in position. Iwaizumi carefully watches as the boys on the court make way and you stand a few feet behind the serve line. Gathering your hair up in a ponytail, you stretch your arms before picking back up the ball. Your entire demeanor has changed from the contemplative and playful person he’s been watching throughout the day. He doesn’t know why, but he hasn’t been able to take his eyes off you since you walked into the office. Everything about you intrigues him, makes him want to know every detail about the person before him who’s full of surprises. Every time he thinks he understands, you shock him.
Just like now, as he watches you crouch and nod to Coach. Launching the ball high, taking two long strides before jumping on the third step. And jump you did, pulling all the air around you, right out of his lungs, bringing the court to a still as you went up. Coach’s command for a float serve follows before the whistle shrill has fully faded. Then comes the location, left corner of the attack line. Your grip adjusts on instinct, waiting for the height to fall a bit before making contact with your palm evenly. Your eyes don’t leave the targeted water bottle as you drop down. The ball makes clean contact to topple the bottle with a reverberating smack. You land on your feet harshly, forgetting about the worn out shoes you were wearing. Losing your balance from the lack of traction, you feel yourself slip, but you feel broad hands slide under your arms catching you from the back. Back thumping into someone’s chest, you tilt your head back to see Iwaizumi-san flashing you the largest grin, lit up from the back by the overhead lights causing a light halo around him. Pretty. You can hear your heart beating in your ears from the sudden physical activity, but it picks up speed. A blush spreads across your cheeks as you slip a little and lean back into his chest for support. “Easy there tiger, I got you” he says, easily straightening you up. The casual petname sending you into an embarrassing spiral. Immediately turning your face out of his vision, you’re trying to regain composure. He’s checking to make sure you aren’t injured as you remember now’s not the time to be simping for your hot colleague. But it’s time to be pissed at a pompous old man who’s always got you marching to his tune. You scan the court finding the target for your death stare chucking on the sidelines. “A float serve you demonic maniac?! And if Iwaizumi-san here hadn’t been my knight in shining armor to catch me, and I busted my ass in front of everyone? Then what?” You’re shaking your fist at Coach, who’s chuckle has grown to a full laugh as he walks over. Despite his laughs, he makes sure to check your ok, chastising your shoe choice before turning to the shocked group of players. “Let me reintroduce her, Dr. Y/N L/N, former setter and a 2x Women’s World Championships winner. Now the Physical Therapist for the MSBY Black Jackals. My former player.” He proudly announced to Sakusa who’s gone pale. Arms crossed waiting for the shock to subside. Kissing your teeth you politely step in front of Coach to end the embarrassment, keeping at bay a swell of warmth over the pride he has in you. “Please don’t brag about me to literal Olympians and Pro players. I’m retired, rusty, not on their level and not here to teach them a lesson. But Sakusa-san, my advice was purely in reference to your exhaustion. You were overthinking. I apologize for overstepping.” You shoot him a reassuring smile and reach out with your fist as an extension of friendship. He bows and reaches out to fist bump sheepishly. “But next time you want to cut me to the core, pick something more truthful and scathing. I like a challenge.” You tease with a wink drawing a small groan from the player as he covers his face with his free hand.
The court erupts with a thousand questions and comments all at once. A swarm of giant bodies covering you before you can step out of the danger zone. A bronzed hand wraps around your wrist, pulling you out and into a familiar chest, thumping into Iwaizumi-san with a small huff. His other hand finds your waist to balance you; eyes look up into his olive ones that flash with an expression you can’t read. Clearing your throat, you glance at both his hands holding you, before he releases you with a quick apology. Hands up in defense, but his lips curling up into a smirk as the flush on your face grows. The lingering heat from his hand on your waist has every nerve ending in your brain going off. You mutter a thank you, shy now that the object of your disturbance was back to being front and center. No longer able to stop yourself from looking at him from top to bottom. Tall, dark, and handsome to a tee. Everything about him was broad and strong. Brain short circuiting just thinking of those same hands and body fully wrapped around yours, had you not had a modicum of dignity. Dignity be damned right now, may as well shoot my shot later. Brought out of your thoughts with a small cough from the trainer. “We can look at each other all we want tonight, but it’d be nice to talk properly and learn more about you. Especially so you can share any other secrets you’re holding on to Dr. Extraordinaire” he ruffles your hair lightly with a soft smile. Whatever witty retort on its way out your lips, caught in your throat, when he leans down to whisper in your ear “Can’t say I haven’t been enjoying checking you out the whole day too”. He relishes in the deep flush across your face and the tingle on his lips from grazing your ear. But when he sees your eyebrows furrow he panics a bit. Did he cross a line while caught up in the new feeling of butterflies in his stomach? Maybe he had read the situation completely wrong and you hadn’t been checking him out. Trying to gauge from your expression if he’s about to deal with a gnarly HR complaint, he sees your bottom lip stick out in a pout.
“You’re telling me I’ve been working hard taking notes all throughout practice to share with you when I could have been checking you out openly?” You swat at his chest before turning away from the man. “Coach definitely put my information in that intro email so not really a secret to spill if it was blasted out. Can’t fault me for no one reading it.” Your shrug met with Iwaizumi gaping at you. Rubbing the back of his neck before mumbling something about skimming the email, unaware how cute the whole moment is to you. Happy to know it’s not just you feeling nervous around the man, you throw caution to the wind. “Besides, I have way more fun secrets to learn than that, Iwa-chan~” you glance over your shoulder, looking up at the man through your lashes. Lips curling up into a coy smile as a light flush blooms across the man’s face from the choice of nickname sung out teasingly. The group of players snapping you both out of your bubble with the announcement of the end of practice and hitting the showers to get ready for the welcome party. You start to walk back to the office to grab your things when his voice calls out to you. “Hajime” You turn around to look at him. “Call me Hajime.”
He catches up with you and gently places a hand on the small of your back to guide you to the shared office. “We can walk together, don’t want to waste another minute not learning.” He glances down with a smile hearing you giggle, a sound he pockets in a corner of his brain to hold on to forever.
But definitely one he plans to hear throughout the night if he can help it.

Wow, what a show this turned out to be. It started pretty ordinary, but ultimately had three exceptional bouts, one of which is the best match of 2024 so far. The show opened with CHAOS teammates Yano and YOH taking on Taguchi and Young Lion Shooter, Oleg. This was perfectly fine, but only went 3:45, so there really wasn't much to mention. YOH scored the win over Taguchi with a roll up. Next, UE Young Boy Callum Newman got a chance to shine in his tag match with O-Khan against Bishamon. This was a good little sprint, with the spirited Newman looking especially good. It wasn't to be his night, however, as he was put away by the veterans at 7:37 with Shoto.
The NJPW Babyfaces took on House of Torture next. This was your typical HoT match, beginning with a brawl, before the babyfaces got their shine, only to succumb to heelish shenanigans. After Dick Togo distracted the ref, Narita hit Tiger Mask with the Metal Plated Push Up Bar Of Doom, before SHO pinned him with a Shock Arrow in 8:43. Post match saw SHO steal Despe's IWGP Jr. Belt and proclaim himself the new champion, so we've got yet another HoT stolen belt deal, and Desperado seems destined to feud with these dorks for his entire reign. This was followed by pretty much the same LIJ vs. J5G match we've seen all tour now. It was a good outing, but I can't say that I'm interested in any of this, aside from Tsuji and Uemura's Hair Match in Sapporo at the end of the match. The two youngsters carried the action in this one, which culminated in SANADA tapping out BUSHI at 11:05 with Skull End to go strong into his Title Match with Naito on the 24th.
Perhaps the final ever Okada vs. Tanahashi match followed, twelve years to the day that the Rainmaker Shock happened in this very same building that made Okada a Superstar. This was excellent, emotional stuff that was by no means the best match these two have ever had, but it was a great send-off for what is perhaps the greatest, most consistent feud ever. I've potentially gone a tad high with the rating, but I don't care, I'm sticking with it, as this one had me invested from the minute the entrances happened. The Osaka faithful were super into this, loudly chanting for Okada at the start, going crazy throughout. Tana, who's definitely in "office shape" at the moment, even turned back the clocks and hit the High Fly Body Attack to the floor, which was awesome. After getting the knees up on a HFF attempt, Okada nailed the Tombstone, but Tana turned the Rainmaker into a small package for a great near fall. After some back and forth which the crowd were totally into, Okada hit a beautiful dropkick, a Landslide, and a Rainmaker to put the President away at 16:50 with one final Rainmaker. The pair embraced in the post match, and a teary bowed to the Lion Mark and Okada bid farewell to Osaka. He only has two matches left in his NJPW career in Sapporo, which should be similarly emotional occasions, and hey, who knows, maybe he could even put someone over on his way out (nudge nudge, wink wink).
The IWGP Tag Title bout that followed was something of a dampener, to say the least. This was the opposite of the last match, the crowd were dead for the most part, and it moved at the speed of smell. It was hovering around one star territory, but things picked up once Hikuleo got the hot tag and ran wild, but it was short lived as the ref got bumped, Taiji Ishimori ran in, hit his old pal ELP with a belt, then Hikuleo, which allowed KENTA to steal the win and the titles. Look, I know New Japan likes and rewards loyalty, and Chase Owens was there for them when they needed people badly, but the notion of him holding a major title in NJPW in 2024 is all kinds of bemusing. And to say the new GoD's Tag Title reign was a bit of a disappointment would be an understatement. These guys deserve better, and I honestly don't have the strength to watch another match between these teams after the two we've already seen so far this year.
Thankfully, things turned around in fantastic fashion with an absolutely perfect display of pro-wrestling between ZSJ and Bryan Danielson. This was a rematch of their 5 star classic in AEW last October, and it managed to surpass that match and is the best bout of 2024 so far. Outstanding grappling and counter sequences throughout this, Dragon used an arm wringer to send Sabre's legs into the ropes, which he then proceeded to work over the whole match with intense kicks and leglocks. Zack fought back, working over Danielson's neck. Lots of Romero Specials, Manjigatame's and Cobra Twists, before it broke down into a stiff strike exchange. Danielson hit a big Back Suplex off the top for a near fall, then tried Cattle Mutilation, which Sabre escaped and hit a Zack Driver for a near fall of his own. Dragon hit the stomps, then locked in the crazy arm submission he submitted Okada with, but Zack fought to the ropes. Another strike battle culminated in Danielson hitting the Busaiku Knee out of a backslide, but Sabre turned a second into a European Clutch, they exchanged great cradles, before ZSJ got the pin with a crucifix at 32:46 of fabulous action. The two shook hands afterwards, and now being 1-1, Danielson challenged Zack to a 2 out of 3 falls tiebreaker backstage, which I'm 100% down for. In the ring, ZSJ signalled he wanted a belt, then called out the winner of Naito/SANADA (despite what Chris Charlton might have claimed he said). I'm all for Zack winning the belt to be fair. I've lots to say about Naito being the champion again, which I'll refrain from, but all I will say is that the guy who holds the top belt in this company sure has felt like an after thought since winning.
Then the Dog Pound Cage main event that was also Will Ospreay's New Japan swan song. Look, theres way too much to even attempt to recap, and I went back and forth about going the full 5 stars on this one, as it did feature some stuff I really wasn't keen on. BUT, at the end of the day, these 10 guys put on an absolute spectacle of bloody drama and craziness, and it's definitely not a match I'll forgot any time soon, and a tremendous post match. They had an impossible task in following the previous match, but they had an equally blow-away outing, that was the complete wrestling polar opposite. This was set up like that classic ROH vs. CZW Cage of Death from 2006, in that the cage encircled ringside as opposed to the ring itself, and was fought under War Games rules, with guys coming out every two minutes.
Ospreay and Finaly started, with Ospreay convincing Finlay to let them fight for 5 minutes. Lots and lots of crazy stuff followed, which included the heels bringing out a ton of plunder, Akira hitting an incredible dive off the cage onto the War Dogs before Connors gave him a big spear through an upright table in the corner, Gabe Kidd potatoing HENARE with table shot, that split him open bad on the top of his head, which the doctors at ringside spent a lot of time trying to patch up. HENARE got a receipt of sorts later when he hit Kidd with a super stiff slap that looked like it knocked Gabe silly. Connors hit a big spear on Ospreay through the ropes, off the apron and through a table at ringside, Jeff Cobb ran wild on everyone with his incredible power moves, TJP emerged from under the ring as the Aswang, running wild and misting all the heels, Maloney broke up a pin attempt by Drilla Killa'ing Ospreay into the pile of bodies, Coughlin took a serious wilful beating with kendo sticks, who then took a big senton through a table off HENARE from the top of the cage. Connors introduced thumbtacks, but ended up bumping into the pins. Gedo came out with a barbed wire wrapped table, but O-Khan put an end to his interference, and it was Finlay who went through the barbed wire table, thanks to an Ospreay powerbomb. Gabe Kidd responded by hitting Ospreay with a piledriver off the apron, through a ladder bridge to the floor. Moloney forked Akira in the head, who juiced heavily, but then overcame his fear of the fork, no-sold it, and stabbed Drilla in the head with the cutlery, drawing his blood of his own, then hanged Connors over the top with a dog collar.
The heels then handcuffed Cobb to the cage, removed the ring canvas and padding, exposing the boards, and what followed was absolutely terrifying, as those boards were flying around and guys were falling through the ring left and right, to the point I thought someone might get seriously hurt. HENARE hit a massive vertical suplex on Kidd to the boards, before he too was handcuffed. Akira then took a horrendous Tombstone on the boards, which left Ospreay alone with the War Dogs. Sacrificing himself to save Akira, he tried a Hidden Blade, but collapsed from exhaustion, resulting in him taking a spear into the boards by Connors, then Finlay wrapped his knee in barbed wire and hit Ospreay with his new Overkill finish to end this insanity and win for his team in 64:05 of crazy, mind-blowing action.
The Overkill finish was quite ironic given the amounts of sheer overkill in this thing, there were times when I thought/was begging it would be over, but they just kept going and doing crazier stuff. Anyone who knows me knows I love a good crazy, unhinged blood and gimmicks match, and this was one of the best there's ever been, overkill or not. In the post match, Ospreay bid farewell to New Japan, and he got the big emotional send off with the confetti and all the UE guys surrounding him. Ospreay asked that the fans not forget him, and backstage he promised he'd be back, but when was still a mystery. Losing Ospreay is a major blow to NJPW (not to mention they're also losing Okada!), but I've no doubt he'll do great things in AEW.
