‘The most popular Palestinian leader alive’: Releasing Marwan Barghouti could transform territories’ politics | Israel-Gaza war | The Guardian
“The real problem is that Israel has chosen occupation over peace, and used negotiations as a smokescreen to advance its colonial project. Every government across the globe knows this simple fact and yet so many of them pretend that returning to the failed recipes of the past could achieve freedom and peace.”

Muslims who saved Jews during the Holocaust.
This may be a bit controversial in the light of the current situation, but it is an important subject to be addressed. Nowadays there are those who would want you to believe that all Muslims want to kill all Jews, and vice versa. However, that is not the case, it isn’t the case now and it wasn’t the case during World War 2. I had done a piece on the Palestinian leader Amin Al Husseini, an ally…

I've been debating how to breach this topic for the past days, but there is no easy or practical way to bring it up. There is an ongoing genocide in Gaza- the world's largest open air prison, as described by U.N. officials and activists. Nearly 2500 Palestinians have been killed in the course of past few days, including women and nearly 700 children. 700. Israel urged Palestinians to leave the Gaza stripe (even though they have nowhere to go to) only to bomb their "safe" exit routes. Entire civilian neighborhoods and hospitals are being targeted by Israel, and they are threatening to cut off the water and electricity in Gaza as well, turning the few running hospitals left to cemeteries.
Palestinians children are writing their names on their palms so people would recognize them, in case they end up being killed by Israel forces. Palestinians are writing their goodbye messages on social media because they aren't sure they'd still be alive tomorrow. There is so much atrocity going on, so many war crimes that the west have deemed reasonable because those are Palestinian lives that are taken, because Palestinians lives aren't as important as western ones, because international law doesn't apply when it comes to Palestinians.
it is unsettling and uncomfortable to watch these images of war, of beheaded children being carried by fellow civilians, of ambulance drivers falling to the ground from the horror of that they've witnessed, of cries of babies who are suddenly orphans, who have never known anything but violence and murder. But this is the reality of Palestinians, as it has been for the past decades. Please, I urge you, educate yourself on the ongoing conflict. There is no hard choice, there are no nuances that you need to take into consideration, there are no 'buts'. There is a colonization, an ethnical cleansing, a genocide, and Palestinians aren't the instigators of it. They are the ones paying the price.
Standing up for Palestine doesn't mean you are anti-jew, the proof is there are a lot of Jewish people standing with the Palestine cause, because they recognize the atrocities committed by the Israeli government. There were no "40 beheaded babies" by Hamas, this was a false information, consciously perpetuated by Israel then the USA so they'd be able to attack Palestine with a "reasonable" motive, only backtracking on it when the damage was already done. There aren't two sides. There is only one true side and it's Palestine.
+ u just have to click this link and the revenue generated by traction in this website will be donated to Palestine! it's only one click per day please do it

It's been incredibly difficult to hear from Palestinians in Gaza, not to mention center their experiences and platform their voices. Because ever since Hamas violently kicked the Palestinian government out of Gaza in 2007, it's denied Palestinians the right to free speech.
(Here's Palestinian human rights activist Hamza Howidy sarcastically wondering why Hamas isn't stopping the theft of humanitarian aid when it had the power to arrest him for a social media post within 4 hours.)

I'm working on a series of posts of Palestinians to platform. I came across this thread from someone who used Snapchat to talk to people in Gaza, so I thought I'd post it here in the meantime.

I've seen videos of Palestinians talking about not being able to evacuate because "Hamas has closed all the roads," a video of a Palestinian telling the IDF that Hamas has a car blocking the Salah-al-Din road (the evacuation route) and is pointing guns at people and telling them to turn around. But even as someone searching for Palestinian voices and looking for information about this, I hadn't heard that Hamas had been killing civilians trying to evacuate. (And probably reporting their deaths as part of the daily total.)

I mean, just the fact that the Gaza Strip is run as a separate country from the rest of Palestine is a huge barrier for Palestinians. It's hard to be accepted as a full member of the UN when your country functionally has two or three different governments.
(Confusingly, the PLO is considered the government of Palestine internationally. Abbas is the president of both PLO and the Palestinian Authority, so it sort of works as long as nobody has an election. But the fact that Palestinians have been denied an election for 18+ years, because Abbas keeps cancelling elections and Hamas is Hamas, is also a pretty big fucking problem.)
But it's also true that a huge number of the people in the Gaza Strip, while obviously having a big problem with the Israeli government, have at least as big of a problem with Hamas.
And for all of our decades of talk about Free Palestine, in the progressive movement, we pay shockingly little attention to that.

You know the West has something to win with Israel. They don't want Israel to stop, and they are fighting really hard to keep the narrative on their side. Every interview with the "DO you condemn Hamas?" question, every ban to protestors, to the palestine flag, the little coverage in some parts of the world. They want to keep their images clean to the world. They've done it so many times. It has worked for them before. The truth comes out, but mostly after the facts. It gets some air but is soon buried in another issue that is current, therefore more important to resolve.
This time around? Social media is fighting them for the narrative. Social media is given the chance to everyone in the world to see the truth in real time. Social media show us time and time again the hypocrisy and completely lack of morality of our leaders and organizations.
The only thing that matters to them is power and money.
Human life has never been of importance to them. Not even the life of their own citizens. WE KNOW THAT! They want us poor, they want us sick, they want us tired, and they want us numb. So we can't fight, so we can't raise our voices, so we are so tired of everything that we just go with the current. They give us enough to keep us quiet.
I'm not sure what to do except to call them what they are, genocides, criminals, immoral, to paint our own flags in blood, because they carried it, no matter how hard they try to hide it.
I'm tired of a world that keeps progressing for a few while covering our lands in blood and trying to present an image of righteousness.
I'm tired of the double standards. I'm tired of journalists that paint lies with words over the truth we see in lives taken, the utter betrayal they have committed against every journalist who have died in Gaza. I'm tired of the country that keeps talking to the world about freedom and justice, being once again behind horrible war crimes that they hope they will be able, as usual, to hide under the rug.
I'm tired, I'm so damn tired, but mostly I'm heartbroken that people are being killed in mass and every conscious person in the rest of the world is watching in real time and our only weapon is our voices. I'm also furious! So I guess I will keep screaming until I'm heard.

"ummmmm yeah that strike bisan called for is really rushed and leaves no time to prepare for it and its during finals season and it's just poorly organized :/" hmmm I. well. I wonder why a palestinian journalist living in palestine is calling for a strike on very short notice. i wonder why a palestinian journalist living in the midst of her own genocide for the past two months where. where disease outbreaks are rising and no one can find food or water and many of these people (including bisan herself a few weeks ago at one point) are not expecting to live more than a few days let alone weeks. I wonder why someone living in this horrific and incredibly bleak and uncertain situation is calling for strikes without planning weeks/months in advance. I wonder why! they are not planning these with weeks/months or even days of prep time in mind! I wonder why! this is quite a conundrum! lets uh. lets put our fucking thinking caps on! so to speak!

Being on Tumblr is super depressive these days.
My favourite character got twisted and destroyed by new canon, and many of my fandom mutuals celebrated it. It just feels weird, because I'm in mourning (even though I do reject that canon and am trying to keep him alive in my world), but they're not. I don't know how to interact with them anymore. So I've stopped.
Meanwhile mutuals who agreed with me on many things are suddenly spewing antisemitic rhetoric or reblogging posts praising terrorists like Hamas and bin Laden. It's giving me such a whiplash that I'm unable to process it still.
I want to close my eyes and ignore all of this, but I can't. I unfollow and block, but the sense of shock and betrayal remains...

From the PA's official Wafa news agency:
Jordanian King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and President Mahmoud Abbas affirmed today, Wednesday, their opposition to any Israeli plans to displace Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and the need to condemn them internationally and confront them. At their summit, which was held in the city of Aqaba to discuss the dangerous situation in Gaza, the leaders stressed their complete rejection of all attempts to liquidate the Palestinian issue and separate Gaza and the West Bank, which constitute an extension of the one Palestinian state.
They're getting better at their doubletalk. But they mean the same thing they have said since October 7: no Gazans will be allowed to flee to safety, no matter how much they want to.
The position of the United Nations is that freedom to emigrate is a human right, part of the right to freedom of movement. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, "Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country."
Travel bans are considered a major infringement of human rights.
By any sane metric, banning Gazans from leaving if they want to is a massive violation of their human rights. But the PA, Egypt and Jordan enthusiastically support such bans on travel, as do NGOs that otherwise are dead-set against it.
Amazingly, they all claim that this is for the Gazans' own good. Equally amazingly, no one is asking Gazans themselves what they want to do and what they think of these leaders who decide for them what they are allowed to do.
Even though there are articles showing that many Gazans are desperate to leave.
The only, and I mean only, reason why no one is concerned over this massive violation of Gazan human rights is because they hate Jews more than they hate Gazans, and they think Israel would benefit from this mass travel ban on 2 million people. That is enough to damn them all to potential death and injury as Israel fights a terrorist group that uses those same civilians as their main line of defense.
The world's hypocrisy knows no bounds.

The meeting between Haj Amin al-Husseini and Adolf Hitler.
It is often claimed that Amin al-Husseini was a major player in the Holocaust, this not entirely correct. However, Hitler and Amin al-Husseini had the same aim, the eradication of all Jews. Amin al-Husseini{aka Husseayni) was the Mufti (chief Muslim Islamic legal religious authority) of Jerusalem under the political authority of the British Mandate in Palestine from 1921 to 1937. Scholars often…

I am by no means an expert but just from staying up to date with news and watching the conversations around palestine i've noticed that Hamas occupies this sort of double state in zionist talking points. They are, at once, both a baby-beheading human-shield-using terrorist force so horrible and cruel to its own people that it's actually Hamas that Palestine needs to be freed from. And Gaza's elected and wanted leaders with high support from the average palestinian, making every single palestinian civilian dying by israeli airstrikes a terrorist supporter.
These two modes of thinking are fundamentally incompatible but they get switched out depending on which one is most effective at the moment for justifying the continued mass murder of palestinians. Either israel bombing gaza is good for the average palestinian civilian because it'll result in the destruction of hamas, or palestinian civilians don't exist at all and it's all just bloodthirsty terrorist who deserve to die anyway.
