Ambrose Bierce was an American short story writer, journalist, poet, and American Civil War veteran.
Born: 24 June 1842, Meigs County, Ohio, United States
Died: Chihuahua, Mexico
Military Service: Ambrose Bierce served as a soldier in the American Civil War. He enlisted in the Union Army at the age of 18 and fought in several significant battles, including the Battle of Shiloh. His wartime experiences greatly influenced his later works, and he wrote a number of stories based on his observations during the conflict.
"The Devil's Dictionary": Bierce is renowned for his satirical lexicon, "The Devil's Dictionary." Originally published as "The Cynic's Word Book" in 1906, the collection provides humorous and often sardonic definitions for words. Bierce's wit and sharp commentary on various aspects of society, politics, and human behavior are evident throughout the entries.
Disappearance: One of the enduring mysteries surrounding Ambrose Bierce is his disappearance. In 1913, at the age of 71, he traveled to Mexico during the Mexican Revolution and was never heard from again. The circumstances of his disappearance remain unknown, and it has fueled speculation and intrigue for over a century.
Journalistic Career: Before gaining fame as a fiction writer, Bierce had a successful career as a journalist. He wrote for several newspapers, including the San Francisco Examiner, where he worked under William Randolph Hearst. Bierce's columns often showcased his sharp wit and criticism of contemporary issues.
Realism and Occult Themes: While Bierce is often associated with realism and satire, he also explored supernatural and occult themes in some of his works. His short stories such as "The Damned Thing" and "An Inhabitant of Carcosa" incorporate elements of horror and the supernatural, showcasing a different aspect of his storytelling.

Pause for a moment, please. Yes, right now. Try to look around with your very eyes. Perhaps you can find something interesting and lovely that you didn't realize before. Flowers that dance following the wind. Cloud in the sky somehow look like a sleep baby with a smile on his face. The grass shaking, as it waving it's hand and say "hi" to you. While listening to this song, take a deep breath and feel that very moment. Moment whereas you usually pass through or skip. We saw them as 'usual' or 'unspecial' things. But, somehow, those 'ordinary' things can draw a little smile on your face. And you can find that life is beautiful.

I have an ongoing relationship with pain, I have for as long as I can remember. There are days where I am mired in it and pain is all I can feel. However, I don't want to become numb to the life around me. I have to find a balance between life and pain and stop fighting against it. I know I'm strong, I don't have to prove it all the time. I need to ground myself and look around at the world that I've cultivated every time I feel lost. ✨️ Cards from The Phantomwise Tarot. #tarot #tarotreadersofinstagram #tarottribe #phantomwisetarot #erinmorgenstern #balance #battle #ground #letmyselfheal #stopfighting #pauseandreflect #spiritualaf #gaywitch #LGBTQIA #sparkleon #shinebright #likeadiamond #cardoftheday https://www.instagram.com/p/Cmq-irEOzoC/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A persistent headache…
Introduction:
As I sit here with a persistent headache, the rhythmic throb echoing in my temples, I find myself drawn to introspection. In a world that often demands constant activity and productivity, taking a moment to reflect on discomfort can be a surprisingly enlightening experience. Join me on this journey as I navigate through the fog of a headache and explore the lessons it brings.
The Symphony of Discomfort:
The headache, like an unwanted guest, has settled in. Its steady rhythm becomes a symphony of discomfort, playing against the backdrop of everyday life. Instead of resisting this intrusion, I choose to listen to its notes. There is wisdom in discomfort, a silent teacher that nudges us towards self-awareness.
The Pause Button:
In a culture that glorifies constant motion, the pause button can be revolutionary. As I sit here, resisting the urge to power through the pain, I am reminded that it's okay to hit pause. The world won't crumble if I take a moment to care for myself. In fact, embracing the pause often leads to increased clarity and productivity when I return to the tasks at hand.
Mindful Reflection:
A headache is more than just a physical ailment; it's a mental and emotional experience as well. As I close my eyes and turn my attention inward, I become aware of the thoughts racing through my mind. What stresses have I been carrying? What emotions have I neglected? Mindful reflection in moments of discomfort allows me to address not only the symptoms but also the root causes.
The Gift of Stillness:
In the midst of discomfort, there is an unexpected gift – stillness. As I sit here with my headache, I am forced to slow down. The world outside may be chaotic, but within the confines of my own experience, there is a serene stillness. It's a reminder that even in the most challenging moments, there is an oasis of calm waiting to be discovered.
Reconnecting with the Breath: In the chaos of a headache, the breath becomes an anchor. As I focus on each inhale and exhale, I find a momentary reprieve from the pain. The breath is a constant companion, a reminder that even in discomfort, there is an element of control. It's a simple act, but one that can transform the way we navigate challenges.
Conclusion:
As I sit here with a headache, I realize that discomfort is not my enemy but a messenger. It whispers lessons of self-care, mindfulness, and the importance of embracing stillness. In the symphony of discomfort, I find a unique melody that guides me towards a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me. So, the next time you find yourself with a headache or any discomfort, consider it an invitation to pause, reflect, and discover the hidden treasures within the silence.

Make one day in the week, that's entirely about YOU.
Be INTENTIONAL about
□ Prioritizing self-care
□ Loving yourself
□ Taking some alone quiet moments
□ Being with nature
□ Switching off technology
□ Disconnect with the world
□ Reconnect with yourself
□ Finding courage to forgive yourself
□ Being still in the moment
You don't need a justification or a rationale to take time out for you. Not even the, "If you don't take care of self, how will you care for others" conundrum.
Just put yourself first because it's your choice and it's your foremost duty to yourself.
Do not confuse self love with selfishness or narcissism. They are entirely different animals. Do not let those guilt-driving manipulations find home in your mind.
You are entitled to "ME -TIME", no questions asked!
