“He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters.” —Psalm 18:16 (NLT)
“You will pass through deep waters. But I will be with you. You will pass through the rivers. But their waters will not sweep over you. You will walk through fire. But you will not be burned. The flames will not harm you. I am the Lord your God. I am the Holy One of Israel. I am the one who saves you.” —Isaiah 43:2‭-‬3 (NIRV)
“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!” —Psalm 46:1‭-‬3 (NLT)
“You will never know God's strength until He has supported you in deep waters.” —Charles Spurgeon

The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue. Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His steadfast love,

"DON'T WAIT UNTIL THANKSGIVING TO THANK HIM!"
Read: 1 Chronicles 16:7-36 “O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever” (1 Chronicles 16:34 AMP) We often think of Gratitude in terms of Gain: Someone gives you a ride to work. A neighbor cooks a meal when you’ve had surgery. Your boss notices your hard work and gives you a raise. The kids clean up the house or your husband cooks dinner. For…

Life in Short Bursts
I am in that season of life when stamina is not what it once was. Strength is less than it once was. Muscle tone is a daily battle that, if not fought and won, daily, is lost easily with further diminishment of strength and stamina. So I am learning to live life in short bursts, and I am learning that it is amazing what can be accomplished in those bursts. I don’t know who said it. I can’t…

Arrogance and Pride
Psalm 106:16-18. They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD. The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. This passage refers to the story of the rebellion of Korah in Numbers 16. Moses and Aaron were imperfect, as are all human beings. However, they were appointed…

“Gratitude isn't only a celebration when good things happen: Gratitude's a declaration that GOD IS GOOD no matter what happens.”
“23 Verses About the Goodness of God” By Dr. David Jeremiah:
“God is good. But what does that mean—that God is good? The more I studied this word in the Bible, the more one central concept seemed to jump out: God’s goodness conveys His generosity. His goodness means far more than His generosity, but it certainly includes His infinitely generous attitude toward us. By nature, He longs to bring joy and blessing to all His creatures. The Bible repeatedly presents goodness as a core quality of our Lord, and I wanted to share just 23 of those occasions. These 23 verses point you to the goodness of our God and what it means for our lives.”
1. “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth.” —Exodus 34:6
2. “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” —1 Chronicles 16:34
3. “And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord: “For He is good, for His mercy endures forever toward Israel.” —Ezra 3:11
4. “Good and upright is the Lord.” —Psalm 25:8
5. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” —Psalm 23:6
6. “The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” —Psalm 145:9
7. “No one is good but One, that is, God.” —Mark 10:18
8. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” —James 1:17
9. “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” —Matthew 7:11
10. “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” —Psalm 27:13
11. “I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness.” —Psalm 145:5-7
12. “He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.” —Psalm 33:5
13. “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” —Psalm 34:8
14. “Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting.” —Psalm 100:4-5
15. “Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.” —Psalm 107:8-9
16. “As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.” —Psalm 103:13-14
17. “Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.” —Psalm 143:10
18. “The Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” —Psalm 92:15
19. “You are good, and do good; teach me Your statutes.” —Psalm 119:68
20. “You also gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, and did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst.” —Nehemiah 9:20
21. “Hear me, O Lord, for Your lovingkindness is good; turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies.” —Psalm 69:16
22. “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.” —Nahum 1:7
23. “Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men! You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.” —Psalm 31:19-20

He sends the snow like white wool; He scatters frost upon the ground like ashes. He hurls the hail like stones. Who can stand against His freezing cold? Then, at His command, it all melts. He sends His winds, and the ice thaws.

"CONFRONTING THE ENEMY'S TACTICS!"
Psalm 144:1, “Blessed be the Lord, my Rock and my keen and firm Strength, Who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight” (AMPC) The main tactic of the enemy is deception. “Deception” is defined as, “the act of causing someone to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid; to trick; to cheat; to defraud; to be dishonest.” And that’s exactly who the enemy is, a deceiver, liar and the…

David (1 Sam 17)
Sermon Discussion Questions: Briefly recap the three main points of the sermon. How does seeing rightly lead to feeling rightly and acting rightly? What did David see, feel, and do? What does it mean to “see rightly”? How did Saul and Israel see wrongly? How might you see wrongly? Can you think of appearances that you are easily deceived by? Think of what you are most easily impressed with, or…

A Golden Treasury for the Children of God
Tumblr media
by Carl Heinrich von Bogatzky
Devotional for May 11
How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? - Psalm 13:2
Divine answer. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands, thy walls are continually before me. - Isaiah 44:15-16
I will not leave you comfortless. - John 14:18
Were all our sins and afflictions so soon to be prayed away with a few words, whence these sad and repeated words of David? Why should God advise us to wait for him and persevere in hope? and how could faith and patience be exercised? In our closets we may be lifted up with high speculations; seem to be strong, and able to leap over all the walls; but in great distress we see how dejected, and as it were despondent our hearts are. (Psalms 30:7-8). But the Lord preserve us.
Why do we thus indulge our fears, Suspicions, and complaints? Is he a God, and shall his grace Grow weary of his saints?
Can a kind woman ever forget The infant of her womb; And amongst a thousand tender thoughts Her suckling have no room?
Yet, says the Lord should nature change, And mothers, monsters prove; Zion still dwells upon the heart Of everlasting love.
Deep on the palms of both my hands I have engraved her name; My hands shall raise her ruined walls, And build her broken frame.
