what a satisfying freakin episode. i keep thinking about how everyone vividly discussing the potential of blake as a leader this volume was dead on like!! this is what she’s been training for her whole life romantic bookworm that she is underneath it all. she is so ready. and ruby even turns to her for advice!! im really impressed with the was blake is being approached and treated by the narrative

Man I just saw this episode. Spoilers but

I WANT THESE TWO TO SQUARE UP!!! LIKE BRO JAUNE WAS DEAD ASS RIGHT NOT TO TRUST THE CAT. 

And I ya’ll ready because... we might as well assume Jaune is going to die. Like seriously he could die, Burnied or killed by the cat LIKE IN THE ACTUAL STORY. 

WHY would I want this? Simple.

I loved as a ship. But they were meant to be enemies or mirrors. Jaune even he killed Cinder still had goals in life. Neo didn’t have any plans after she killed Ruby.

Next

Alyx and Lewis. I’m sorry but imagen Alyx in the end was a good person, probably. But imagen if curious cat told Jaune he did some horrible things to them to break their spirts. 

And let say it here for Jaune appreciation. Jaune has taken BULLSHIT whether be in Remnant or Ever After but never folded. Because if he did 

He would have gotten the Ruby treatment.

The way my heart broke when these things happened in ep 8 and why i feel its important:

1. Ruby killing Oscar: a bit biased bc I love rosegarden. But honestly speaking it's bc of how similar they are. They're both the youngest of their friend groups with a huge amount of responsibility on their shoulders. I think this was significant bc Ruby does feel some type of way about him, whether it's kinship, responsibility, friendship or romantic. Based on the context, I'm assuming responsible as that's what the whole scene was about.

2. The close up on Yang when Ruby drank the poison: as an older sister who also had to take care of her younger sister and grew up with her, I would be absolutely devastated if my sister did that in front of me. The amount of confusion, guilt and regret I know Yang is going to feel next episode is something I look forward to seeing RT executing.

3. Ruby fucking dying: need I say more?

4. Jaune failing to save another person: Not sure if this is gonna hurt him as much since it was Neo, but this was yet another life that he failed to protect. He was so close and yet, he couldn't succeed. I would also like to see more of his frustration with that concept, but right now I doubt it since there's a lot RT need to go over.

5. The cat going inside Neo: I screamed her name out of concern bc Neo didn't give a fuck about Salem, or the survival of the world, she just wanted her friend back. So yeah, she was out for revenge and once she got it, the sense of emptiness, loss and hopelessness was all that was left. Before she could even think about her next move, if there was one, that damn cat possessed her. This is another biased opinion bc I love Neo, she's that gray character that was pushed too far and was Ruby's worst nightmare bc of it. Like imagine if she had kept blaming Cinder instead? Would she be a good guy? Definitely not. Her problem solving is to get rid of the problem and then there won't be one. Would she be a major inconvenience towards Salem and crew? Of fucking course. And God I just need Neo to be given another chance and be like, fuck those other guys, then be the tank RWBY and everyone never knew they needed. Anyways, that's it for my rant!

The Parallel of Pyrrha in Volume 3 and Ruby in Volume 9 - from Jaune-centric perspective

Pyrrha was put in front of the Maiden Problem and couldn’t openly tell friends about it. The problem was consuming her internally because the risk of loosing herself. Then the talk with Jaune who unconsciously used words which push her towards the suicidal option. Later Jaune get distracted for the moment when Cinder shot the Fall Maiden and got power up - just seconds decided about life and death. At the end he could only see how his dear friend chose suicidal mission of stoping Cinder.

Ruby was grieving the loss of Penny and the failure of saving Mantle&Atlas. She couldn’t openly tell friends about it because… reasons. The problem was consuming her internally. Later Ruby snapped, Jaune too and he unconsciously used words which push her towards the suicidal option. Later Jaune and WBY arrived too late and could only watch how their dear friend chose suicide by loosing herself. At the end Jaune was seconds too late to prevent Curious Cat shuffled itself in Neo and got power up.

Just now I’ve noticed how the Maiden Problem and the Ascension are similar in concept - both require a leap of faith in unknown and a risk of loosing theirself - own character, memory and in the end who the one are. In both situation there is vague promise of being recreate into something more powerful/better. With a cost.

And of course Jaune’s destiny is to suffer after next person ooff theirself because of results of his actions. He won’t stand this in his state. He… I would say, he will go after Ruby and try to save her. No matter the cost.
