Deep appreciation for episode 30 (Van on the Run)
This is a long post where I just ramble on all the moments that make me love this episode.
The dethroning of fleshlight tag as the worst thing that anyone ever said.
The "Hey Andrew" story
Big old butt crack down the middle of the orb
Terry Jr. asking why Ron isn't wearing pants
"I'd better write that down as a note. Terry Jr., easy to lie to."
Lark literally taking a note about how unpaid interns die sometimes. (This turns into my firm belief that Mae Hailes is a paid intern)
Ron insisting Paeden is his half-brother. "My dad is my dad too!"
Tumblr media
just gonna weep and tear my hair out real quick over that one.
Ron's insights on the patriarchy
"My stepson is here, and I am looking at him in the eye right now and it's not weird at all. It's not weird. We're just making eye contact right here." "It's a little weird. You have not blinked in several minutes." "Now it hurts to blink, so I'm not going to ever…" "That's not how it works. You have to blink." "No. It's like my eyes are getting…" "Dad, blink." Like what a way to start normalizing Terry Jr. calling Ron "Dad"
Sparrow's stealth hug
Just...starting to really see the dead inside Grant is both heartbreaking and really funny.
Nick's shaky fist bump makes me wanna cry.
Tumblr media
I am always there for a good low perception roll joke.
Reveal that Ron just carries to lure that killed Willy around with him.
"Yeah! Your dad is George Washington!"
THEORY TIME: Like this episode is where we get most of our information about the kids' time in Ravenloft, and like...I don't buy it. Looking at how the kids phrase things, I've been solidly convinced that the O-Dads have Geas'ed the hell out of these kids so they can't give any specific details about what was done to them, but I feel like there's a loophole where they can talk about things that weren't done. So, for example: Nick specifies that Bill ignored him. I'll keep coming back to this as we keep going.
Weird detail: Darryl is with Glenn on the murder Henry's dad train at the start.
God I love to hate Barry Oak so much, he makes me skin crawl and he is in top form in this episode.
"I AM DRIVING WITH MY FRIENDS, FATHER! I'LL TALK TO YOU LATER!" It's such a teenager-y thing to say and I feel like it really gives a snapshot into what their relationship was like back in the day.
I really wanna get a snapshot into Nick's mind as he hears his dad completely lose his cool about Barry. Like, my boy did such a good job trying to act unbothered and brave, and then Glenn just is deeply and visibly upset about Barry almost killing him (which is valid, I just feel like it's a new experience for Nick)
Lark and Sparrow jumping in to drive when Henry lets go of the wheel. Like, not sure what happened with Sparrow, but Lark has been an epic driver from the get-go.
ANOTHER THEORY: Sparrow is really interesting in this episode. He willingly covers his ears when asked by Henry, and he's the one who hits the brakes when Henry tells them to stop the car. He's also just weirdly chill and forgiving, and like...I do not buy this as love wolf shit, he is clearly under some kind of magical influence to make him more compliant. You do not get the Sparrow that looks scared in the drone footage in episode 28 to this remarkably chill and forgiving kid without magical interference.
Freddie putting his foot down that Glenn would not mess with firearms while drunk
Barry's "Oh kakaw kakaw" when he's shot is probably in my top ten vocal stims from this show.
Lark enthusiastically supporting Glenn shooting Barry makes me so happy
Henry going from trying to be firm and calm as Glenn loses his shit, and immediately shifting to "ooooh, I hate you so much" as soon as Barry starts talking to him is so funny. Just all the ideals fly out the window.
Find it super interesting how Henry cites "respecting his choices" as a thing here considering what happens later on with the bracelets.
I both do and don't want to know if Anthony already had the idea for the Lark and Sparrow homunculi when Barry offers letting Henry take his kids and run and giving up all the other kids. Like regardless of whether or not it was planned, I do love the idea that Barry is giving this offer because he knows he's got the real ones tucked back in Oakvale.
I love the word abscond, okay?
Love Barry framing his failure as a father as disappointment in Henry's choices. I want to kick him in the face.
Mr. Mustache calling Ron "Honey"
"No. You just exasperatedly asked why a bunch of times. A.k.a. the Henry Oak special."
Geas theory follow up: Lark telling them they forgot to feed them fits into the loophole of being something the granddads didn't do, so they're allowed to mention it. Also this part of starting to hint at what exactly went down is so just *chefs kiss.*
Freddie's "WHY?" When Matt asks if Darryl can perceive that Ron peed his pants.
Freddie being told the charm needs to be in an enclosed space and immediately going "What if we had an umbrella?"
Tumblr media
Freddie picking the first audio result for Fantasy Tavern for the sound.
"Bring us your hottest moms!"
This next bit always slays me and I don't even know why:
Tumblr media
The jokes about the level one adventurer group is beautiful. I hope things turned out okay for that fighter and four rogues.
Henry making up Mr. X only for Mr. X to be real.
Ron thoroughly describing the fake voice he's going to do, only to reveal it's just his normal voice.
Ron's whole exchange with the other rogues.
Henry describing Glenn's fantasy voice as Italian
Anthony trying to keep up with what the crew are trying to do as they're attempting to get a room.
Also, everything is in shillings now for no adequately explained reason?
The random bar patrons who are gonna be so disappointed when they make it to the other side of town to find out that Hi I'm Ron is not playing.
The start of the NPCs realizing they could have asked for more money gag.
Glenn almost going to see what's up with Mr. X but then getting bored.
Anthony doing a C3P0 impression
Geas Theory update: Grant phrases it as "they weren't nice" and the most detail we get from Grant is that "Willy's really mean" only for him to then say, "It was fine, I guess." Terry tops out at saying that Willy "shouted at them a fair number of times" and that's as intense as any of their descriptions get. Like this is sus as heck. Especially since at minimum, we know that Lark and Sparrow got homunclui'd and that somehow, Barry got the twins to sit quietly. The boys are underselling this and the only one that would be in character for would be like...Nick (who we already saw was super shaky). Darryl even prompts Grant saying it's okay if it was rough and they were scared and we still get no further information.
Ron's scary story is so good for so many reasons. Like the way he tries to make it spookier by making Willy a man with a fishingpole for an arm, by calling fish "food that breathes underwater" like that mixed with the realization that he's telling the story of how Willy died is just...an excellent combo of scary and not scary and it's just a baffling bunch of weird that is pure Ron.
Terry being baffled by Ron asking if they want to sing Rock-a-bye Baby, only for it to turn out Ron doesn't know the words.
"You find more knives than not knife in his pants."
The fact that Lark was smuggling knives for a breakout attempt is just so lovely, go off my murderous little weirdo.
Also seeing Henry taking weapons from his kids knowing where this ends up is just (collapses into a ball of sad)
Henry deflecting from the werewolf questions by just switching to the topic of puberty, only for Sparrow to be too receptive to wanting to learn.
Darryl overhearing Paeden saying that Grant's dad is cool only for Grant to not say anything in response.
"Did Ron kill his dad?"
Seeing Darryl be actually upset about the fact that he's the only one who'd want to see his dad, but his dad's not there. And seeing Darryl actually grapple with the idea that he doesn't understand Glenn, Henry, and Ron's relationships with their dads, and like the weird feeling of not being able to relate being isolating, but still realizing it's an isolation you should be thankful for.
Ghost football ft. George Washington and one of his slaves
"Dude, that was the entire snarling id of the American masculine psyche in one image…It was like football, George Washington, your dad, and the Sword of Damocles that is slavery."
Glenn in the dream space
Bill Close calling Glenn tiger is just like such a small detail but it's like one of those moments that we really can actually see him being a dad, I think?
The gut punch of "Do you love me?" and "You wake up." like God DAMN!!!!!
Like this episode is such a buffet of character dynamics, and jokes, and lore, and room for theories, and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!! WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO REALIZE IT'S MY FAVORITE????????

This episode had so many turns, even though it was a combat episode. It was an interesting listen because I listened to it 3 times today (the hyperfixation is real, y'all) and still feel like I haven't fully processed it. I think it's because I can usually sit back more for combat-heavy episodes.
First, we get Dood. He is adorable. Like, I don't blame the players for treating them like the squishy baby he is. I can't wait to get more Dood.
Then, we get some wonderful kiddad moments. Mostly with Lark, which makes sense, because, you know, this is his whole thing. The moment with Lark and Normal was soooo gooood. Thank you Will Campos for that.
But all the stuff with Nicky has been hilarious the past couple of episodes - Wait! How is Nick with them? He was at Cassandra's house?
Then there's Willy. (And Anthony's frustration). Anthony clearly had plans. So first, he tries to just persuade the Doodler. That fails. So, ok, he'll use Dominate Beast. Linc dispels it. Oooookaaay, so now he'll convince it to become corporeal. Cool. That works. Now it's collar time. But wait. Linc is grappling him. And by the way, all the minions in the fight get sent away from Scary's Mass Suggestion (that's what Willy gets for powering up our girl boss). And then it's like, ok, I can't just have Willy get killed. He's the Big Bad. I guess it's time to bamf him out of here. It's weird to be rooting for all these bad things to happen to Willy while feeling bad that it's ruining Anthony's plans. Alas, we shall have to just dread what the horrible man is going to do next.
Finally, Ron. Like... what??? I think there was a general feeling that he was going to come back in some capacity, but... he's in heaven? And he's been sending messages to Terry? Why hasn't Terry been getting them? (Glad to see Mae Hales back by the way).
So... I still don't know where this show is headed. Are we heading into the "grandparent" arc? Maybe we'll do some more realm hopping to find all the grandparents? (Is Heaven the Ethereal Plane?) Is Dood just a part of the party? What awaits everyone back in the Forgotten Realms?
I'm really curious what the next episode is going to be. I'm hoping it will be the "here's what the next arc looks like" that I was hoping today's episode was going to be.
Things I wonder:
I wonder why Dood didn't recognize Lark and Sparrow. It lived inside of them for a while, you'd think it would recognize them.
Why is Mae Hales just now getting all these messages from Ron? Really trying not to think about how Ron's been trying to tell Terry how much he loved him for 27 years and none of them got through?
What are the kiddads going to do now? Are they all gonna travel as a big party? They can't go after Willy - they're not allowed to hurt him.
What's going to happen with Cassandra?

The interviewer- a Dramione fanfic
Chapter two!
September 22, 2005
Hermione’s house
Hermione woke up and immediately got out of bed. She needed to hurry because she had to get ready for an interview. It always took her longer to get ready for those.
“Alright.” She said, getting ready to apparate. She looked at herself in the mirror one more time.
Tumblr media
(Her work outfit!)
After she straightened herself, then apparated to the ministry.
Draco’s house
Draco got up and got ready for work. He combed his hair and got dressed.
Tumblr media
(His look!)
Once he was ready, he apparate to his office and waked in. His assistant, Mabel, knocked on his door and opened it saying, “Mr. Malfoy! Good morning, I have your list of appointments scheduled for today here.”
“Ah, thank you Mae.” He replied, looking at the list. She left and he sat down at his desk.
10:00 Sarah’s magik shoppe.
10:30 Ministry of magic, department of Magical Law Enforcement.
11:00 Willy’s magical instruments.
That was all he had today. He sat down at his desk and started his paperwork.
 The Ministry of Magic
Hermione knocked on the Ministers office door.
“Come in.” She heard. Walking in, she said,
“Good morning minister.”
“As to you. Now, I have an appointment set up for you at ten thirty with Malfoy co.”
“What? Malfoy co.?”
“Yes ma’am.”
“Ok.”
“Is something wrong?”
“No it just…. Me and Malfoy… we aren’t exactly friends.”
“That’s ok. This is a business meeting.”
“I know. It’s just going to be so awkward.”
“Well, I know you can do it. Now, good luck! Your appointment is in thirty minutes.”
“Right. Thank you!” She said leaving. Once she was out she rushed to her office.
“Oh no.” She whispered to herself. “I wasn’t planning on ever seeing Malfoy again.” She sighed and picked up her stuff.
“Well. I guess I’d better leave.”
And she apparated.
Malfoy co.
Draco finished his first meeting of the day early. The lady didn’t like his attitude, which was good considering yesterday, so she left. Over the intercom Mabel told him the next client was here early and asked if she should send them in. He told her yes and waited.
Finally, the door of his office opened and what he saw was shocking to him.
Granger. She walked in and said,
“Hello Mr. Malfoy.”
“Granger.” He replied, gesturing to a seat. She sat down and just looked at him.
“Ahem.” He coughed, knocking her out of the daze.
“Right. So, uh, I have a few questions for you.”
“Ok.”
“Right, uhm… first, please, tell me about your business.”
“Are you uncomfortable Granger?”
“I’m sorry?”
“You heard me.”
“Well, that’s not the answer to my question, is it?”
“Granger…”
“Malfoy, please answer the question.”
“Fine, I started this business because…well, I’ve always been interested in running a business and magical objects.”
“Ok. Eh, now, please don’t feel targeted, I ask this to everyone I interview, do you have ANY dark magic involved?”
“No. I’m not my father.”
Hermione looked deep into his grey eyes. She knew he wasn’t lying just by the look he had.
“Ok. Uh, any additional notes for the ministry?”
“No. But I have a question for you.”
“Ok?”
 “Why are you so nervous?”
“Well, I mean, last time I saw you you’d just tried to kill me, so….”
“I’m sorry.”
“Whatever. It’s the past.”
“Then why are you so nervous?”
“Well, it kinda hard not to be.”
“Oh, ok.”
She got up to leave and right as the was walking to the door Draco said,
“Hey Granger!”
“Yes?”
“You look hot in green.” He was now smirking.
“Well, uh, thanks!” She replied, cheeks cherry red, and left.
The ministry
One Hermione returned, she went straight to her office.
After a few minutes there was a knock on her door.
“Come in.” She said. And was delighted when she saw it was Ginny.
“Oh, hey Gin!”
“Hi! Did you get the gift?”
“Yes! It’s beautiful. Thanks!”
“No problem! Oh, Hey. I’m SO sorry.”
“Uh, Gin, For what?”
“Ron Broke up with you a couple nights ago..?”
“Oh! Right.”
“Did you forget?”
“Eh, yeah. I mean, we weren’t really dating anyway,”
“Huh?”
“Well, he NEVER talked to me. He was always out of town! So you know, I kinda just… pushed him to the back of my head “
“Wow. I was expecting you to take this harder. I mean, yeah, he’s a jerk but…”
“Welp.”
“…”
“…”
“So, anything new?”
“Well, I just had an interesting interview.”
“Ooh! With who?”
“Draco Malfoy.”
“Really? Since when does he have a business?”
“It’s new,”
“Was he hard on you?”
“No. He actually acted like a grown man!”
They both giggled and talked for a little while longer until Ginny had to go.
Malfoy co.
Draco couldn’t stop thinking about Hermione. She had grown into a very beautiful woman.
No Draco. Granger is NOT pretty.
He kept telling himself.
A few hours later Mabel came in with a letter.
“This came for you from the ministry.” She said handing it to him.
“Thanks.” He replied as she walked out. Once he opened it he read,
Mr. Malfoy,
Your report has been processed and we are pleased to inform you that your business is now officially ministry approved. We hope that everything works out for you!
Sincerely,
The department of Magical law enforcement- Hermione Granger
Draco reread the letter several times to make sure he didn’t miss anything and then got up and hung it on his cork board.
Once he finished his paperwork, he went to the lobby, told Mabel he was leaving, and apparated home.
The ministry
Hermione was done for the day. She was so tired but every time she closed her eyes to relax them, gray ones would appear on her eye lids.
She apparated home and sat on her couch. She sighed and picked up her book as she was almost done with it.
About an hour later, she finished the book and went to bed. She fell asleep almost instantly.
That was chapter two! Stay tuned to my page for more!

‘Reverse Freedom Rides’: An echo of Martha’s Vineyard migrant flights 60 years ago
Eliza Davis was bewildered the day she arrived in a wealthy tourist town on Cape Cod. An agricultural worker, she had been promised work and housing if she took a free trip to another state. Days later, disembarking with her eight children, she had little idea where she was, that a president had a family compound down the road, or that she was a “pawn,” as locals told the New York Times, in a political stunt.
Tumblr media
Davis, 36, was not among the migrants who arrived Wednesday in Martha’s Vineyard — a resort island off Cape Cod where former president Barack Obama has a home — courtesy of a flight arranged by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). She was a Black woman from Alabama, bused to and abandoned in Hyannis, Mass., in 1962, not far from the holiday home of President John F. Kennedy.
Today’s migrants in Martha’s Vineyard are now being transported to the same Cape Cod military base that housed the “Reverse Freedom Riders” decades ago.
It was all part of the so-called Reverse Freedom Rides, arranged by White segregationists in 1962 in retaliation for the Freedom Rides of the previous summer, when Black and White volunteers rode buses through the South supporting desegregation.
The plot was organized by white supremacist Citizens’ Councils in Arkansas, who bought radio ads and made fliers advertising the “opportunity” to African Americans.
They focused on recruiting men with criminal records and single mothers with a lot of children, cynically presuming White liberals would welcome them the least.
Tumblr media
Lela Mae Williams, an Arkansas woman who was also dropped off in Hyannis with her nine youngest children, was dressed in her finest clothes, because she had been told Kennedy himself was going to greet them when they arrived, according to 2020 NPR report. She had packed little else, because anything she needed was going to be provided, she was told.
Along with the new arrivals, local Hyannis officials received anonymous letters, according to the Times, saying things like, “Abe Lincoln sowed the seeds and now the North can reap the harvest,” and “We have put up with millions of n------ for 100 years, so why should you squawk?”
It was a contrast to the Great Migration of the previous decades, during which White residents did everything they could to stop Black workers from leaving.
Families would often have to sneak to the train station under cover of darkness or use other subterfuge to escape, described in detail by historian Isabel Wilkerson in her book “The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration.”
Southern segregationist groups baldly deceived Black families using tactics “consciously parodying the Freedom Rides,” noted Clive Webb, an American history professor at the University of Sussex, in a 2004 paper on the Reverse Freedom Rides. The Greater New Orleans Citizens’ Council ran newspaper ads in 1962 promising "Free Transportation plus $5.00 for Expenses to any Negro Man or Woman or Family (no limit to size) who desire to migrate to the Nation’s Capital or any city in the north of their choosing.” Notices were also posted in prisons, offering free transportation to prisoners whose sentences were set to expire, Webb found.
The largest contingent of riders traveled from Little Rock to Hyannis. Amis Guthridge, an attorney and president of the Capitol Citizens’ Council in Little Rock, hoped to test Edward Kennedy, who was campaigning for a seat in the U.S. Senate, wrote Webb. “President Kennedy’s brother assures you a grand reception to Massachusetts,” said the council’s recruitment posters. “Good jobs, housing etc. are promised.”
Then, as now in Cape Cod, many residents of Hyannis met the riders with open arms. A local committee formed to provide housing, clothing and money to the new arrivals.
Davis and at least 50 others, including 33 children, were housed in the dormitory of a nearby community college; others were housed in private homes, and later, a nearby Army barracks was used until they could be placed with jobs and housing in the surrounding area.
Massachusetts Gov. John Volpe condemned the rides as “traffic in human misery.”
Tumblr media
“The only way to meet such cruelty is by wisdom and love,” Episcopal Bishop Anson Phelps Stokes Jr. told the Associated Press. He urged residents to “show understanding and compassion.”
The welcome was not universal. When the Massachusetts governor asked for federal help, the Kennedy administration declined.
Kennedy called it “a rather cheap exercise” but otherwise avoided the issue.
In New York, when a few dozen Black people arrived from Louisiana, city officials paid the bus fare for at least six to return to their home state, according to the Times.
Some of the Southerners sent to Hyannis got jobs as cooks or chambermaids or in candle-making factories, according to a 1964 column in the Boston Globe. When the summer ended, the jobs in Hyannis dried up. All but one family left. Victoria Bell, who appears in the photo at the top of this story, lived in Hyannis for the rest of her life, working as a nurse to the elderly and volunteering to help the poor, according to news clippings in the Barnstable Patriot. At least one of her children made the honor roll at school, and some still live in the area. Bell died in 2000.
Within a few years, Lela Mae Williams and her kids ended up in a Boston housing project, where the family struggled without nearby relatives, one of her daughters told NPR’s “CodeSwitch” in 2020. Racist White neighbors resented their presence in public schools and harassed them.
Tumblr media
The Reverse Freedom Rides ended up backfiring politically, Webb argued, because even “moderate” segregationists were put off by the “cynical manipulation” of poor African Americans. In Little Rock, the Arkansas Gazettesaid the scheme “had never been condoned by the better thinking people here.” New Orleans radio and television station WDSU denounced the campaign as “sick sensationalism bordering on the moronic.” A Gallup poll published in June 1962 showed widespread disapproval of the Councils’ tactics among White Southerners.
In the end, only about 200 people were sent on Reverse Freedom Rides — far fewer than the thousands of migrants who have been transported north to D.C., New York and now Massachusetts in the past few months.
On Thursday morning, two buses from Texas dropped off asylum-seeking immigrants in front of Vice President Harris’s residence in Northwest Washington.
There is one big difference between the migrant transports now and the Reverse Freedom Rides of 60 years ago.
In the 1960s, the buses were funded by anonymous people donating to private segregationist groups, which aimed to tell the North “to put up or shut up,” as one New Orleans leader said. DeSantis has not said how the flights he arranged to Martha’s Vineyard were funded, but Tex. Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has used state resources and donations for the buses. And both have been eager to take credit.

Feel like neither Riza nor Kimblee care very much about their sexuality label, they'd just go queer and be done with it.
Riza's definitely more introverted, but Kimblee's not a full on extrovert like Maes or Roy for example. But does Kimblee talk a lot and do people think he's an extrovert because he can't shut up? Yes.
OK so this competitive thing, I envisioned that in the relationship they're both very cooperative and they won't see each other's accomplishments as something to one up - because that can very easily become toxic. But I didn't put them all the way on cooperative because these lil bastards will and can make stupid bets and try and see who'll do better because both of them have this deep desire to be the best.
Lmao they avoid arguments because they actually practise open communication. If Riza Closed off Hawkeye doesn't want to talk about something Kimblee will leave her to settle, but he's not just going to start an argument over it. Like these are actually mature adults. No babies here. This isn't a teenage romance. Open communication and boundaries ahoy.
Feel like Riza cried one time after her mom died, her dad told her never to cry again, and she rly never did. Other than when it's a psychotic break, at which point honestly you can't help be cringe and cry then. Kimblee on the other hand is like toxic masculinity isn't going to wear me down if I see a cute kitten in the rain, Riza, I'm going to weep. That's it, that's the only time Kimblee cries other than when he's, also, going through a psychotic break. Because again, you can't not be cringe when you're going through one.
Solf Jopen communication i know what i want in life Kimblee can and will confess his feelings first without feeling cringe. Riza would rather eat her own foot. It's because of her daddy issues. They're crippling.
They're both pretty chill but also protective of each other, though Riza's got that additional everyone I love dies thing going on that she needs to work through so she might be a lil extra overprotective where she smothers Kimblee in blankets in winter time because he keeps constantly complaining about the cold. He doesn't mind. He would purr if he could. He loves being pampered.
Riza's like Ron Swanson, whenever Kimblee asks her anything about her childhood she just says: I know more than you. Riza, meanwhile, knows Kimblee's entire family tree since Kimblee volunteered the information because he was telling her a story and it seemed like relevant information (it wasn't).
Formal - suits. Casual - not dresses and suits. Riza's lounging in her pyjamas after 6pm and Kimblee's lounging in a suit after 6pm. They're on the same couch.
Riza's like a crow, she listens real close to what Kimblee's talking about and pinpoints a perfect gift to give him like a little crow that's begun pecking at his window to be let in, is let in, and attacks him. Kimblee on the other hand strikes me as an acts of service kind of guy. Sure, anyone can buy flowers - but can anyone go to the other side of town to get you your favourite cake, huh? Huh?
I didn't do the music one because a) what's heavy music?? this man listens to classical music and it goes fucking HARD AS FUCK verdi dies irae vibes but also classical music can be very gentle and lulling you know b) riza listens to jazz and we have the same fucking problem here because jazz goes either HARD or damn this is really relaxing
Kimblee has to do physical exercise because of his job and he treats it as such. He will laze. Meanwhile Riza whenever she lazes is plagued by the horrors she's committed and is like no, you know what, i'm going to go run. And Kimblee, in his fort of blankets, just squints at her and goes: why.
Riza cooks better than Kimblee because she used to have to cook as a kid. But again, she learned to cook as a kid and never really upgraded after that. So they're both fucked because they know how to cook just well enough so they don't die of food poisoning, but not well enough for it to be considered actually edible. Like soldier edible, yes. But not for civilians. Maes is perfectly okay with eating their cooking, but he'd rather die than feed anything they have to Elicia.
Riza is the more reserved one. But in private she likes affection, too. Though it can get a bit jarring for Kimblee that one moment his head's in her lap and she's running her fingers through his hair and then someone walks in and she's shoving him off of herself because ew pda. Like Riza please TT-TT
Solf always in control of my actions my life my alchemy my movements my job Kimblee wants to relinquish some of that control to someone else for a time you know. This man's a sub. Riza my life is spiralling and I can only find some peace of mind and control in having kinky sex Hawkeye needs a win. She is a domme. It works out. Safe sane and consensual in the bedroom if not on the field.
Riza's always hot. Kimblee can be cute, but he's just more hot.
Both of them are kinky. You'd be surprised but it's not Kimblee who comes up with half of the things they do. Riza's imagination is a terrifying thing. Kimblee's absolute disregard of his own safety is another matter entirely.

Day 21- Film: Outlaw Women
Release date: April 4th
Studio: Lippert Pictures
Genre: Western
Director: Sam Newfield, Ron Ormond
Producer: June Carr, Ron Ormand
Actors: Marie Windsor, Richard Rober, Carla Balenda
Plot Summary: A woman in the Old West known as Iron Mae is sick and tired of never getting anywhere in life. She founds her own town run entirely by women, populated 9:1 by women. Success is more important to Mae than men or rules. Inevitably, they face threats from all sides- from roving bandits to local politicians. Can the town actually survive?
My Rating (out of five stars): **½ for the actual quality of the film, ****½ for my enjoyment of it
I had to do a little digging before I found this film, but I’m so glad I did! Yesterday’s movie was so bad it was just... bad, but this one is so bad it’s fabulous! (Except for the stupid ending, unsurprisingly.)
The Good:
It was a low-budget film, but it often didn’t look it. It was shot in color, and although it wasn't Technicolor, it wasn't bad. The acting could be quite good (although there was some cringey stuff), and it even had some decent musical numbers in it.
Iron Mae! I loved her. She was a tough talkin’ tough livin’ dame who ran the whole town. She still dressed in glamourous traditionally feminine clothes, even if other female residents did not. Yes, she was a little harsh- I think that, and her distrust of men, was supposed to make us dislike her... but it didn’t work for me!
Dora! Dora! My new love, Dora! She was one of the women who dressed like a cowboy, but she also smoked cigarillos, lit matches with her teeth, and kicked the shit out of more than one man. She even threw one over her shoulder to take his gun away. At the end, she remained unpaired with a man. I know she’s just a character, and she existed 71 years ago, but I’m not totally convinced she isn’t waiting in some saloon to marry me.
The female empowerment in the whole thing. You could tell the filmmakers were trying to subtly say throughout the film that something wasn’t right about it, but I didn’t care.
Did I tell you about Dora?
The Bad:
The ending! I knew it was probably coming, because a movie in the 50s could not allow for a woman-run town to be successful. It was especially infuriating because the government came in and demanded there be local elections, which meant women could neither vote nor hold office. They were cruelly screwed by the system they were trying to escape from. Virtually every woman was shown pairing off with a man at the end, as well.
The kind of demeaning “Men will rightly be in charge of everything, but wives and mothers sort of run the show” wink-wink at the end. Have a little consolation prize, ladies.
There were some comical sound effects in the fight scenes. The slaps and punches were way too loud.
The background music was often overpowering and not always appropriate.

Alex Majoli on Artists and the Rewards of Environmental Portraiture
The photographer discusses environmental portraiture, responding to and reflecting a subject's mood and work, and the rewards of meeting artists in their own studios

At 15, Alex Majoli joined the F45 bottega in Ravenna, Italy, working as an apprentice under Daniele Casadio. “I grew up in the studio, which specialized in art reproduction,” Majoli recalls. “Many times my master asked me to go to the studios of the artists while they were working to complete the catalogues. I learned that the place where one should take a picture of an artist is in their studio.”
The wisdom that an artist might best be understood situated within the environs in which they create has served Majoli extraordinarily well over the years. Although not primarily a portrait photographer, Majoli’s sensitivity to the complex interplay between his subjects’ inner worlds and outer lives has made him a gifted portraitist of leading contemporary artists.
In the new book Magnum Artists: Great Photographers Meet Great Artists, the title’s author and editor Simon Bainbridge brings together portraits by Magnum members of more than 100 of the most innovative artists of the past century. From Edward Steichen, Man Ray, and Marcel Duchamp to William Eggleston, Nan Goldin, and Naim June Paik, Magnum Artists offers an intimate look at a diverse array of men and women who have transformed the course of Western art.
Alex Majoli Floor of the studio of Ron Gorchov.(Photo by Alex Majoli and Daria Birang.) Brooklyn, NY. USA. 2012. © Alex Majoli | Magnum Photos
Majoli’s environmental portraits reveal the collaborative nature of his approach and the importance of developing a space for mutual engagement between artist and sitter in the creative process. Whether photographing with Marina Abramović, Yayoi Kusama, Shirin Neshat, Ron Gorchov, James Rosenquist, Sophia Calle, Carrie Mae Weems, or Ellsworth Kelly, Majoli possesses the ability to distill the essence of each artist to reveal the space where mind, spirit, and body become one.
Majoli approaches each of his subjects from a place of discovery. He follows no template or technique, preferring to allow his subjects and the environment to inform the shape the portrait will take. “If you go to an established photographer, the sitter knows they are going to look fantastic and great, and the result has already been written before they take a picture,” Majoli says. “The artists saw my photography, and some of my conceptual work. They were excited because maybe they didn’t know what I would come up with. Sometimes they would be skeptical, but they were also intrigued and interested in being more experimental.”

For Majoli, dialogue is a critical part of the portrait process, be it through a conversation or shared activities. “Even when I have my camera in front of a person, the person can collaborate with me by suggesting a set-up they would like to try,” he says. “We go from there to another place — that is the best part: just to be free to express ourselves. It has to be a picture of two people, not only one. Then the cross-over of two personalities materializes in the work.”
The results are a series of portraits that stand at the intersection of two creative minds, allowing each portrait to stand apart from one another by offering a unique, often-unexpected insight into the spirit of the subject. Majoli’s portraits of Sophie Calle made for La Repubblica in 2011 depict extraordinary scenes of the French writer, photographer, installation and conceptual artist in her home and studio, a space as eccentric as the woman herself. Located in Malakoff, a suburb south of Paris where Calle has lived and worked since 1979, the studio has transformed from a warehouse-like space into what she describes as a “zoo of taxidermy,” featureing a tiger, giraffe, peacock, monkey, foxes, and two large bull’s heads, which appear in one of Majoli’s portraits. “Sophie Calle’s a collector. Her work is all about collection investigations that are less pictorial and all about thinking,” Majoli observes. “You can fall in love with any man or woman, any artist you photograph, because they are so brilliant of mind.”

Similarly, Majoli’s 2009 portraits of the Iranian visual artist Shirin Neshat evoke her visual language: renowned for investigating the dialects of binary thinking that inform our notions of East and West, feminine and masculine, public and private, and present and past. “Shirin Neshat is so beautiful, fragile, and silent. She was dressed in black with painted eyes that reminded me of a cat,” Majoli recalls. “Her home was a minimal place in Soho [in New York] with beautiful light. I tried to [create some] symbiosis and translate what I saw. I entered her place: it was white, she was dressed in black, and the work is black and white. It came naturally to do what I did there.”

Alex Majoli Performance artist Marina Abramovic. Rome. Italy. 2005. © Alex Majoli | Magnum Photos
It was a very different encounter compared to Majoli’s experience photographing Marina Abramović for American Vogue when the “grandmother of performance art” was living in Rome in 2005. “That was a more glamorous shoot. There was a stylist on the set who came with some cutting-edge clothes. We spent a day together and had fun. She is a performer and this was evident on the shoot. I was thinking more about the glamour side than the artist side when I took those pictures. We walked through Rome and she was ringing bells at her friends’ homes asking, ‘Can we take a picture here?’ She also wanted kitsch: an image of her on a Vespa in front of the Colosseum, which was all her idea. I am not really into that,” Majoli says with a laugh. “The others were much more of a collaboration.”

Majoli is adept in dealing with strong personalities, recognizing that within their expression something deeper reveals itself, as is the case in his 2012 portrait of American artist James Rosenquist. Majoli met the early proponent of Pop Art in his Florida studio half a century after his first solo exhibition and inclusion in the landmark ‘New Realists’ show at Sidney Janis Gallery where his work appeared alongside Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Claes Oldenburg’s.
“You don’t do so much with Rosenquist — he is a volcano of energy,” says Majoli. In an explanation of the intent, demanding look on Rosenquist’s face, he remembers, “He was cracking jokes from the first moment of the day, and even making jokes about how his studio burned down years before all his work caught on fire. He was so immersed in what he was doing, I had to ask, ‘Can you stop for a second? Really. I need to take a picture.’ He said, ‘Yeah come on take the picture. I have to paint.’”
“I asked him what he thought about [another artist’s] work that seemed to copy his in a certain way,” Majoli continues, “and he said, ‘You know Alex, everybody has a mother. My mother oversaw me when I was young to wake up early in the morning and work hard. His mother says, ‘Wake up the morning and copy James Rosenquist.’” Majoli laughs, delighted at the memory of Rosenquist’s unquenchable pith. “I’m so glad I met these people. What a privilege!”
Alex Majoli Wall in the studio of artist Ellsworth Kelly.(Photo by Alex Majoli and Daria Birang.) Spencertown, NY. USA. 2012. © Alex Majoli | Magnum Photos
A striking counterpoint to that rollicking meeting was the time Majoli spent with American painter, sculptor, and printmaker Ellsworth Kelly in the artist’s 20,000-square-foot Spencertown studio in upstate New York in 2012. By this time, Kelly — best known for his hard-edge, minimalist works made in the Color Field style during the mid 20thcentury — was in his late 80s. There, Majoli’s approach to portraiture was just as pared back as the works of the artist himself, encapsulating Kelly’s simple color palette that underscores the geometry of forms.
“Ellsworth Kelly is shy, completely gentle, and really calm. He uses crutches and usually needs to be seated, but was walking around the studio with his oxygen tank, which he had taken off for the photograph. He gave me a lot,” Majoli says. “I love that picture. It’s not really the standard image someone would take or publish. It was dark and he was backlit, but I saw something, and I asked, ‘Can you stop, please?’ He gave me all the time and was super sweet.”

Despite the differences of subject, style, medium, and approach among the many artists Majoli met and photographed, he discovered they all shared the same passion to create. “It was a lesson that made me realize the market side is a completely different world,” he says. “Yayoi Kusama, I think she doesn’t even know what they are doing with the paintings, she just does them. As an artist… you wake up in the morning and do what you feel. They keep the flame of creativity focused on the art, rather than how much money they could make with it. I feel like even if they got $1 a day, they would have the same passion and dedication. I am sure — I saw that.”

*ABC News
Wendi Mae Davidson, former Texas veterinarian and mother of two, reported her husband, Air Force Staff Sergeant Michael Severance, missing in January 2005. Authorities searched for the father and airman who survived five tours of duty in the Middle East. But soon, a joint investigation by Texas Rangers, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and local authorities revealed that Davidson knew far more about Severance’s whereabouts than she disclosed. “20/20,” in collaboration with Plum Pictures, features an interview with Davidson from prison, where she is serving her 25-year sentence for her husband’s murder. She speaks to ABC News chief national correspondent Matt Gutman about what she claims really happened to her husband and discusses the evidence authorities say points to her, including Severance’s toxicology report that showed that large amounts of animal tranquilizers contributed to his death. The program also contains recordings of police interrogating Davidson in the days following Severance’s disappearance and interviews with Frank Severance, Severance’s brother; Leslie Severance, Severance’s father; and other friends of Severance who discuss his troubled marriage and their feelings about Davidson.
“20/20” has additional interviews with Ron Sanders, former Tom Green County Sheriff First Sergeant; Shawn Palmer, retired Texas Ranger; and Greg McCormick, former Special Agent with the Air Force OSI, all of whom worked on the investigation. Also included are interviews with Dr. Sridhar Natarajan, former chief medical examiner in Lubbock County who was involved in performing Severance’s autopsy, and Diane Fanning, author of “A Poisoned Passion,” about Severance’s murder. “20/20” airs Friday, Dec. 30 (9:01-11:00 p.m. EST), on ABC, next day on Hulu. (Rebroadcast. OAD 3/25/2022)

WHAT     ARE     YOU     WILLING     TO     WRITE     WHEN     IT     COMES     TO     SHIPPING?: I’ll write mostly anything, there are somethings I’d prefer to discuss before hand but yeah. I’m down for angst, fluff, or smut.
HOW     LARGE     DOES     THE     AGE     GAP     HAVE     TO     BE     TO     MAKE     IT     UNCOMFORTABLE?: It depends on the situation honestly.
ARE     YOU     SELECTIVE     WHEN     SHIPPING?: I can be at times, but most of the time - I am open for anything.
HOW     FAR     DO     STEAMY     MOMENTS     HAVE     TO     GO     BEFORE     THEY     ARE     CONSIDERED     NS/FW?: I’d say probably once the inappropriate touching or full on stripping comes in play then its n s f w.

ARE     YOU     SHIP     OBSESSED     OR     SHIP     MORE-OR-LESS?: I love ships but I’m not all about shipping.
ARE     YOU     MULTISHIP?: Yes, without  a doubt
WHAT     IS     YOUR     NOTP     FOR     YOUR     CHARACTER?:  Steve & Tommy H, Steve & Carol, Billy & Karen, Billy & Carol, Billy & Tommy H, Daryl & Carol, Jack & Elizabeth, Draco & Ginny, Draco & Ron
FINALLY,     HOW     DOES     ONE     SHIP     WITH     YOU?: Smack us upside the head and say wanna ship? Lmfao, no don’t actually smack us but ya know just let it play out on its own or msg me, that’s the fastest way.

You get the Sun|Nihachu x Reader|
Tumblr media
Fluff|Drabble
Tumblr media
You look behind you and smile, “Yes flower?”
You hold the Niki’s hand and gave it a kiss then turned back up to look at the sky, “Well I’m not only stargazing, but also naming them after the people I love.” you say, causing Niki to awe at you.
"What are you doing?" She asks
“Do I get a star?”
You chuckle, squeezing her hand.
“My darling you get the Sun.”

Kenneth Branagh and Aunjanue Ellis will receive honorary awards at the fifth annual HCA Film Awards, the Hollywood Critics Association announced on Tuesday.
The ceremony will be held at the Avalon Hollywood on Feb. 28, and the livestream will be hosted by Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford.
Branagh, who wrote and directed Belfast, will receive this year’s Excellence in Artistry Award, which celebrates his career as an actor and filmmaker. “Sir Kenneth Branagh has such an incredible and iconic body of work,” says HCA founder Scott Menzel. “Kenneth’s career has included a little bit of everything from radio to television to stage to film. His love and passion are undeniable, and with Belfast being hailed by many as his finest work to date, we couldn’t be happier to be honoring his extraordinary artistry within the entertainment industry.”
Additionally, Branagh made Oscar history this year when he received seven nominations in seven different categories throughout his career. Previously, the record was held by George Clooney and Walt Disney with six nominations.
King Richard star Aunjanue Ellis will be honored with this year’s Inspire Award, previously awarded to Deon Taylor and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The award is presented to an individual in the entertainment industry whose work inspires others.
“Since the mid-’90s, Aunjanue has been a talent that many people from around the world have looked up to and felt inspired by,” says HCA president Nestor Bentancor. “Aunjanue is a remarkable artist who came from humble beginnings and has never forgotten her roots. Aunjanue has been an advocate for truth and justice while always using her voice to stand up for what she believes in. For these reasons and many more, Aunjanue Ellis is the perfect recipient of the HCA Inspire Award.”
Robin de Jesús, Colman Domingo, Sophia Ali, Cooper Raiff, Rob Morgan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Brian d’Arcy James, Ron Perlman, Tia Carrere, Sandra Mae Frank, Alexandra Shipp, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Marlee Matlin, Jamie Dornan, Caitríona Balfe, Doug Jones, Reinaldo Marcus Green, Kaitlyn Dever and Ciarán Hinds are presenting at the HCA Film Awards.
Remember… Úna, Sir Van, Sir Kenneth (2), Caitríona, Ciarán, and Jamie are nominated for individual HCA Awards. The film is nominated for Best Picture and the cast for Best Ensemble, and wee Jude will receive the HCA Newcomer Award.

My thoughts on Episode 10--New Haunts
As always, placed behind a cut for those of you that would rather escape my babbling, lol.  You’re welcome.
And be forewarned.  Some of this was scribbled at 2 am this morning so, um, yeah.  I’m sorry?  LOL.
Okay.  Looking forward to this episode much more for 3 reasons:  1) more Carol, 2) less or no Maggie--a break is definitely needed so absence can make my heart grow fonder, and 3) no Leah--thank fucking goodness.
Not AMC + being a minute late loading up the episode.  WTF?
Lawd but Lancy is SMARMY.  Lancy.  LMAO.  Honest typo but I’m leaving it because it fits.
The babies in that Haunted Maze and Jerry as Shiva--ahhh.
Carol!  Cookies on Day 30.
Okay.  Back up.  Rewinding now that it’s not 2 am and reassessing this episode.  On 4 hours sleep.
That episode opening, though.
Single, white middle-aged Daddy Daryl (why do I have single white female bopping through my head?) doing the Halloween maze/Haunted House with those babies.  Who aren’t really babies anymore.  Man, RJ is no longer a monosyllabic “toddler.”  He’s a big little boy, lol.  And Judith is finally seeming more like an actual preteen girl instead of a little adult.  Still doesn’t look like one, though.  She’s so stinking tiny.
Right away I’m picked up and transported out of the scene a bit because fist bumping some dude he’s known maybe a month just doesn’t seem all that Daryl.  Tara, yeah.  But Daryl?  Nah.  Anyway.  How fucked up is it that the Commonwealth uses real dead people in their Haunted Maze?
Moving along.
Jerry as Shiva is uber cute.  It must be such a relief for Nabila to have those babies somewhere “safe” for once.
I did kinda love the spooky music playing.  It added a surreal touch and it was kinda cute.  But you know, like that Haunted Maze that was real but not real?  So is this whole community.  Like if that doesn’t hint to the seedy underbelly of this “Utopia” I don’t know what does.  Also, that’s Daryl but not Daryl.  Not Daryl comfortable in his own skin at least.  His circumstances have been regressed way back to pre-ZA conditions but his stand up character is still there, still fighting through and trying to make it all work.
Can I just say something?  I find it hella interesting how how all the Carol and Daryl “symbols” in the show’s opening are covered in flowers.  Because flowers to me?  They represent rebirth, renewal, regeneration, hope, and beauty, and if that doesn’t speak to what our babies represent to us and each other, again I don’t know what does.
Carol coming forth with a platter of cookies?  Some good sneaky shit is brewing.
Side note:  she looks gorgeous.
Another side note:  doesn’t she really only embrace baking when she’s sad and not in her optimal mental state?
Petting zoo manager is beyond perfect for EZ, lol.
Judith’s hat & outfit/costume looks 100% homemade.  Head canon?  Aunt Carol made it.
Mae seems harmless enough.  Is anybody else getting flashbacks to the early days of ASZ and Carl sticking out like a traumatized sore thumb trying to fit in with Enid and Ron?  Wonder if Mae is Judith’s Enid and is not 100% all she seems to be?
It’s jarring that there seems to be no Gracie.  She and Judith had a close, sweet little friendship.  So Jude has to feel like the new kid that’s moved far away from all she’s known.  Displaced and wanting to fit in.
This Carol and Daryl scene is giving me the same vibes as that scene between her, Rick, and Daryl on that ASZ porch.  The (Un)Holy Trinity.
People cheering the benevolent politician.  Where have I seen this one before?
Judith’s little face with the cotton candy=CUTE.
These lottery tickets give me bad vibes.  Like their purpose and why they need them in a changed world anyway, NOPE.
Real Steph looks cute in her little pink ears.
Thank goodness they’re finally giving Connie a real story instead of contrived angst for their signature slow burn couple.
Carol and Daryl looking might fine and sexy standing side by side.  People out there really being blind to the beauty of them.  Like yo.  Let me pay for your glasses.  You missing out.
Daryl’s little laugh at the nugget that Carol used to read a lot of tabloids made me smile.  So my girl, while hella smart and cunning, can occasionally fall victim to sensationalism, LOL.  Which, when you think of it, is kinda what she’s doing to this whole imagined “relationship” between Daryl and Connie.
I just think it’s damn interesting that literally anything that could be remotely construed as having “romantic” connotations between Daryl and Connie conveniently only happens with Carol watching.  Methinks there’s a reason for that AK will eventually make clear (as mud, as is the TWD way).
How nice is it to see the sisters side by side again where they belong?  They are the undisputed loves of each others’ lives.  No dudebro gonna come between them.
Dudes.  Lovelies.  Whoever is listening or reading this.  Has anybody considered the fact that Daryl’s falling into a trap so many seem to when communicating with someone that takes their cues from one’s facial expressions to compensate for the lack of or loss of other senses?  Like Dude has looked at Carol with a million and one expressions in his eyes before but they have a decade of history between them that makes decoding that unspoken language easy as breathing.  He and Connie do not.  He’s exaggerating his emotions, perhaps subconsciously, maybe on purpose, so he does not come across as deadpan as is typical of him and he considers her a friend.  Is he just not supposed to smile at her without having ulterior motives?  I just, I am still mind boggled by the leaps of logic that have occurred for some to paint this as a grand romance when they have not progressed much further down the friend path than he ventured with Denise.
This really and truly feels like four friends catching up.
LMAO at Daryl’s expression when Carol prompted that he should ask Connie to dance.  He was like “this bullshit again?  How may fucking times...”
Also?  Daryl saying he’d see her there?  How was that flirting?  LMAO.  He literally just was like see y’all there, I gotta work too.
That was no meaningful stare.  That was five seconds of Angela’s favorite lazy mode of misdirection.  Some fans be so gullible.
It guess it’s the should tap of hunka, hunka burning love that does it for them.
I take what I said back.  It felt more like three seconds.  The man looked Carol up and down longer as she approached.
I mean, same goes for Carol.  Her glance at EZ was merely an observant recording of information because my girl misses nothing.
Then her seeing him again?  Setting the wheels in motion for her to dismantle an unfair system.  Not some precursor to romance.
So.  Rosita and Gabriel poofed into existence offscreen and they headed to Splitsville offscreen.  AK’s calling card right there.  Relationships that are merely there to serve the plot spring up during time jumps and are built on cheap, expository dialogue.  They are not earned because they just exist to move characters from plot point A to B.  Kind of like Daryl’s BROTP relationship with Connie.  Every truly “significant” moment that would lend them deeper meaning or connection?  Offscreen, expository dialogue, or viewed through the lens of another character who’s not exactly unbiased or impartial in their perceptions and largely due to feelings of their own, i.e. Carol.  Or Daryl always being an onlooker to the CZ thing.  Then again, he removed himself from that equation.  Same as Carol is trying to distance herself by emotionally deflecting with what she thinks is happening between Daryl and Connie.  Or what she thinks SHOULD happen between them because she doesn’t feel worthy and never has.  Anyway.  I’m babbling.  Again.
So.  Daryl and Rosita are both living in the shitty slum.  Man, would I have loved to witness the interviews that led to that and their recruitment into the Stormtroopers.
Okay.  New apartment after Basics.  I missed that on first watch.  Maybe I wasn’t as wide awake as I originally thought, lol.  Still think it stinks they have to “prove” themselves to live in something that isn’t squalor but whatever.
Seriously.  The Jabila family is so cute.
I think this is the most dialogue they’ve allowed little RJ to speak.  Ever.  LOL.
EZ holding onto that tiger’s collar is so EZ.  Also?  Shiva (and Jerry) be the real, true most significant “relationship” that man had since the ZA started.  His “marriage” with Carol was a “fairy tale” for them both.  Henry was the only thing that rooted them in reality and solidly linked them.
Does anybody else feel like Carol uses such a fake, overly chipper voice with him the majority of the time or is it just me?  I’m like, how can anybody not see he’s still not getting the stripped down, real version of her?
Kang really just being like yeah.  Maggie and Lydia?  Not there.
I hate that Lydia’s not there with them.  I understand it and wish we could have seen the goodbyes--especially after those emotional reunions last episode--but I get it because baby girl would have fit in even worse that Carol and Daryl do.  Like they can pretend because they have real world experience from BEFORE.  But Lydia is a true wildling and as much as I miss having her with Carol and Daryl and the little family they had formed?  I’m glad she apparently chose freedom over conforming to something she’s not.
Why, though, does it feel like AK always hitting that FF button on all the parts I wanna see?
Carol’s the cutest klutzy klepto ever, lol.  I love her so damn much.
Her straight up admitting to snooping when Tomi asks implies a certain level of trust that of course came about offscreen.  Really curious how that came to be.
#147.  He just told her EZ was too far down in time to get treatment in time.  Like Carol’s not a heartless bitch.  She can still care about somebody she raised a child with.  Haters would be screaming for her head otherwise.  Who am I kidding?  Unless it benefits their whims and narrative, they’re always screaming for her head.  Anyway.  EZ is starting to slowly face the reality he’s on death watch which informs what comes later and makes the scene where he lets go of Shiva’s collar make even more sense.  Dude is packing shit away and getting his house in order.
That said, I do wish they’d excise him from being so dependent on Carol bringing the emotion for his story to “work.”  Like let him stand on his own two feet and not rely on being Carol’s past appendage because contrary to their intentions, it’s dulling his story’s impact.  At least IMHO.
When Mercer said Kill House did anybody else’s mind immediately go to the Kill Floor?  “Eat shit and die, Donnie.”  LMAO.  Sorry.  Anywho.  Speed and teamwork.  Daryl’s gonna have a bit of a tough time working with someone he doesn’t 100% trust.
I admit Mercer’s little snarl nose has grown on me, LOL.
Daryl having a bit of separation anxiety and not really fitting in tugs at my heartstrings.  For reasons.
Rosita’s hair is so pretty but makes no sense for basic training.  Like what?
The way she stripped the leg bone of that bag of bones and speared it with it.  You go, girl.
Daryl is a non-conformist.  We been knew.  I don’t think I like where this is headed for my man.  It’s like he’s in a cage.
Judith being the “poor kid.”  Bless that baby.  You know Uncle Daryl’s gonna bust his ass to give her better.
How much do I fucking hate we didn’t get to bear witness to the rest of Team Family meeting Princess?  Anyway.  I love Princess’s whimsical unicorn crown.
So much Carol in this episode.  Thank goodness.
My girl’s always five steps ahead.  She sees an opening and she makes it work for her.  What you bet she’s gonna 100% eff Lancy all the way up?
No but Carol’s investigative skills are off the chain.  In another world, some AU, she’d be Rick’s and Shane’s BOSS, hahaha.
Look at my girl getting her own badass Walker(s) kill.
Mercer hates Sebastian’s punk ass.  I can read it in his body language and lawd what a body that man got for me to read.  But I digress.  That man thinks he’s babysitting.  He be right.
Sebastian is utterly hateable.  Did I spell that right?  I don’t even care.  I despise him already.
So.  Are those Rosita and Daryl’s weapons?  Team Family’s confiscated weapons?
They are!  WTF.  That’s Judith’s mini katana.  Asshole doesn’t deserve to hold that toothpick.  Baby girl Grimes has more balls than he’ll ever have.
You know “Dixon” be having separation anxiety about his crossbow too.
I think I need Judith to gut Sebastian like a fish with that toothpick.
Was that Carol’s knuckle duster we got a tiny glimpse of or did she manage to sneak it through?
Yeah, I think it’s safe to say Pamela knows she birthed a shithead.
Mercer respects Daryl.  He can’t help himself.  Maybe he used to be his own group’s Daryl?
Thank goodness Dog made the trip to the Commonwealth.  Couldn’t have that good boy falling prey to his evil former mama.
Daryl and the kids live in a real shithole.  And yet the kids wanna stay. Why does that make me so sad?
Dog gulping down Daddy’s dinner had me LMAO.
Daryl misses home and freedom but he’s willing to suffer for those babies.  My heart.
Of fucking course, Carol found a way to get outside the walls.  Probably within the first week she had her escape routes mapped.  You really don’t know how you dealing with Lancy.
He looks so impressed though, lol.  As he should be.
Listen.  Carol could have really poured it on with the sob story about EZ therefor maximum sympathy points but dude’s firmly in friendly ex territory for her now no matter how much she still cares.
That little exchange between Magna and her fellow waitress?  Like they can’t even have fruit?  Commonwealth needs major overhaul.
Tomi and Miko are perfectly cast.  They look like two rich snobs, lol.
You want to talk about exes with unfinished business/tension between them.  Magna and Miko out there exposing how far Carol really has progressed from the lies she told herself.
Tomi hates life right now.  Yeah, Miko done fucked things up for her brother.  She seems overall okay with her own status though.
Rosita’s “wow, he hates you, that was a hate smile” be cracking me TF up.  So does Lancy thinking they’re cheering for him.
Question.  Gabe’s looking after Coco.  Who’s looking after the Grimes babies because they’re all up in their “we’re real kids” feels and their defenses are lowered.  Is it Dog?
Mercer’s genuine smile for Princess has me grinning.  Now these two are flirting.  This is what mutual romantic/sexual attraction and interest looks like.  How much do I love that he asked her on a date right then and there?  I already adore them.
That look Daryl just gave them.  Like oop.  Just found Mercer’s soft spot and totally more lingering and contemplative than the so-called stare he was purported to use on Connie’s retreating form earlier, lol.  He in love with Princess too?
The look of childlike delight on Princess’s face as they walked in.  Did I mention I love her?
A meeting on the books about this ASZ thing?  Hmm?
Look at them finally giving Connie some much needed dimension beside being a distraction from the love story they be trying to sneak beneath haters’ noses.
So the lottery tix get you entrance to black tie events?  Cool.  Not cool.  Whatever.
“I kicked his ass.  In the train car.”  LOL.
I stand with Trooper Davis on this oppression bullshit.
What did Mercer call Real Stephanie?  It didn’t sound like Stephanie.
I get the feeling that Mercer is sympathetic to the resistance and feeling Daryl and Rosita out.  Probably I’m off base.
“You got a sister?  Means you got family.  A lot of us don’t get to have that anymore.  Don’t take that away from her.  It’s not fair.”  Not Daryl missing all his family.
What antis see and hope for:  Connie adoringly fixing Daryl’s collar.  What they get:  Sebastian doing it instead, lol.
Resist the Commonwealth.  Visibility for Workers.  Equality for All.  Cool, cool.  They always walking themselves straight into another war.
Rosita and Daryl know what’s up with this.  They’ve seen this movie before.
Carol has Lancy eating out of her hand.
Who else lowkey thinks Magna is part of the resistance?  If she’s not, she will be soon.
Carol’s place is less of a hovel.  Wonder if the separation of her, Daryl, and the kids was the Commonwealth’s doing or Carol’s attempts at distancing herself?  Her place is clean, tidy, and impersonal.  Daryl’s place, shithole that is is, at least has the kids’ art and the comfort he allows himself to embrace.
EZ and Carol can only relate to each other through talk of Henry. Like Henry was what held them together and what pulled them back apart.  I 100% feel Carol feels compelled to help EZ in part to honor Henry’s memory and his love for him.
EZ giving away his most precious possessions because he know he dying.  If that man doesn’t also try to push Carol unselfishly toward her heart’s true desire?  I call bullshit.  But it will 100% be in character bullshit.  Because he can’t help wanting what’s never wholly been his.
“Still finding reasons to smile.”
I feel bad for the man--be it a child and the obligation that entails or the pity and guilt that follows a breakup like theirs?  He has always settled for crumbs of Carol’s real self.
That wasn’t a romantic cuddle.  I hesitate to call it a cuddle at all.  It was two broken, grieving people that used to share a life leaning on each other a bit and closing the book on that chapter of their life.
Maybe whatever comes next for them won’t feel as forced?  Not holding my breath though because they just don’t fit and I’m tired of Kang doing her favorite game of forcing a square peg through a round hole and shaving off the interesting bits of a character in the process.
Look at Daryl donning that stupid suit for those babies.  That’s love, bitches.
“You look...official.”  Judith’s cute little laughing grin.  Cute AF.
Daryl getting Ass Kicker a record player so she can play her first resistance anthem.  “Eat the Rich” indeed.
Previews--
Okay, so what happened to fake Stephanie?  More Carol.  Thank fucking goodness.  More Kelly and Connie and Carol digging deeper for dirt.  Here for it.
Let’s see what Angela’s explanation notes have to say, lol.
Daryl hates the fakeness and does not fit in.  No shit, lol.
Not them referring to Daryl as a Lone Wolf.  Where have I heard this before?
Yeah, I’m 100% on the Magna scale of fuck this.
Overall impressions?
Loads of Carol.  Fucking finally.  Much like MMB elevates those around her, so does Carol.
Also?  Loads of missed opportunities per usual.
The biggest one(s) for me?
Princess’s first meetings with Carol, Daryl and the kids.  Their interview answers.  The goodbyes between them and Lydia and those that stayed behind.  Carol and Daryl not sharing living space eliminates so much juicy drama and awkwardness.  Angela, why you shooting yourself in the foot like that?
The kids wanting to stay because they finally get to be kids and loving it even when they live in a dump made me sad.
That struggling fanfic author sharing spoilers really doing some heavy lifting and false advertising but their target audience eating it up like flies on shit so I guess it’s all good.
I hate the classism and cannot wait for Carol and the rest to find a way to burn it all down.
Daryl twisting himself into something he’s not for the kids speaks to how much he loves them but it’s 100% not fair to him.  I cannot wait ‘til he and shed the personas and masks and ride off into the sunset and freedom.
Overall it was a good episode because there was so much Carol, IMHO.  As long as they keep my girl involved I can find some modicum of enjoyment of even the most poorly drawn stories.
Until next time, lovelies.
Whoa that was long. Yikes.
