oh my god yes yes yes thank you so much Jam i would LOVE to gush about Harper Spiel and their bizarre backstory, thank you so much 🙈�� Doctor Who OCs are so fun to make!

my dear Harper's story begins right after the events of The Giggle! Harper Spiel is a 26-year-old ludologist, or games specialist: a former world champion in several board games who turned their fascination with games into a lucrative career. previously they worked with the British government investigating high-profile gambling rings and other criminal operations which involved gameplay mechanics! 👀

following The Giggle, UNIT wanted to find out all they could about the Toymaker, and so they hired Harper to create a full report on him...against The Doctor's wishes, and without his knowledge. during their research, Harper discovers that the Toymaker is not an isolated incident: he has cropped up in gaming lore and texts throughout history as a godlike entity no one can win against. most people would steer well clear...but Harper takes this as a challenge 🔥 so, they begin a series of experiments with the Toymaker's Toybox. Harper spends weeks trying to engage the Toymaker without opening the box, attempting to coax him into a game, but comes up short. until they have a mad idea! on their birthday, Harper brings a sand timer to the Toybox, and challenges the Toymaker to emerge before the sand runs out. they have no way of knowing if the game is accepted... until a bang!! then, a flash of light...and the vague image of a grin with far too many teeth, beaming through the fog. when Harper awakes, they are no longer in their own timeline. they are in 1984, in an empty lot where the UNIT building hasn't even been constructed yet! 😱 it takes a few days for the Doctor - specifically the Sixth Doctor - to find Harper, and it's because the TARDIS has become absolutely fixated on London in 1984 and he can't work out why. this leads him to Harper, who the Doctor recognises as a temporal anomaly: a living entity displaced in time who should not be able to exist in this reality, but has been rejected by their own. according to the Doctor, Harper's birthday - originally March 22nd, 1998 - is now March 22nd, 1956...which would make them 65 years old according to their original reality!! if not...that means they're minus 40 💀 the Doctor, horrified by this mess, takes Harper into the TARDIS and tries to bring them back to 2024...but the TARDIS nearly implodes! he then tries every workaround he knows, but something about the game Harper opened up with the Toymaker has caused their own timeline to shun them. like it or not, the only safe place for Harper to exist (at least without increasing timey-wimey shenanigans) is within the TARDIS 😉 so!! Harper gets stuck with the Sixth Doctor, to his chagrin and their delight. Harper is familiar with the Doctor, but only his most recent regenerations, and they take delight in playing off his bombastic, arrogant personality. they're always getting stuck into some part of the TARDIS they shouldn't be, or wandering off and nearly causing a category 5 space-time event. they're a magnet for disaster and time distortion, and it drives the Doctor mad! 🙈 but as funny as their relationship is, there is real grief here. the Doctor soon recognises Harper to be somewhat like him: a scientist whose fascination often overrides their emotions, so the process of understanding that they will never see their friends again (as they have no family to speak of) is tough. it doesn't take long for the Doctor to soften towards Harper...after all, Harper is something which the universe itself is trying to reject. who can relate more to that than the Sixth Doctor, whose regeneration was characterised by fear, anger and feeling like an alien in his own body? aaaand that's Harper Spiel!! unwitting companion to the Sixth Doctor and challenger of the Toymaker 🥰 their adventures would be characterised by them attempting to find some way back to Harper's original timeline safely, with Harper insisting they need to find the Toymaker to make it happen...😭

Okay but Lottie finds her head full of new fairy stories whenever she is pregnant. She is at her most creative when she is pregnant and will often read aloud her new WIP to her unborn child, perfecting the story until it is ready for Benedict’s illustrations around her due date. It becomes a family joke that whenever Lottie is finally satisfied with her latest fairy tale (which came into existence during her pregnancy) that the new baby will be born within the next 2 days regardless of doctor’s predictions.

Based upon their own big families and their insatiable need for one another, I suspect that Anthony and Lottie would have loads of kids; and so each child would effectively have their very own fairy tale, and on each birthday Lottie would cuddle up with the birthday child, just the two of them, and read to them their story. It’s a tradition.

…

On an angsty note I can sort of see Clover being a tiny bit jealous of how easily and quickly Lottie falls pregnant. Perhaps Clover struggled to fall pregnant or that the pregnancy / childbirth was difficult to the point that Benedict feared he would lose her. I can just see Lottie and Anthony with this brood of children; and Clover and Benedict with either one child or two children with a huge age gap between them.

Whatever the sizes or age differences both families would be incredibly close.

Every single thing @anths-girl has ever written 😂 She is 100% my enabler, and her comment was the only reason Spiral finished and Diving exists.

Two highlights to show exactly why I love her:

📗 Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?

I mean, I think I'm going to try, but honestly the one character is definitely going to be Glen. I may shave off the serial numbers, but he won't leave my head, and honestly, I don't want him to.

So, keeping to that phrase, I was thinking of writing something about a doctor who-esque traveller, who has a ghost companion in her thoughts. Moving about different worlds and bridging the universe together.

🤖 Are non-fandom friends aware that you write fanfic?

As in real life? My husband is it, and I still have yet to let him read it 😅 Tumblr is one thing, but Hell, that's a new level of terrifying exposure. I'm not sure I would be comfortable freely admitting I write smut fanfic to irl friends and family.

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

Any. Do you know how fucking stoked I would be if something like that happened?

Glen's my guy, so chapter 9 of Spiral is special to me. Glen facing off against Flagg since he didn't get to do that in the show. The bar in Diving would make me happy. Laufey fucking with Flagg and Lloyd. I mean, I should probably stop or I'll list everything in the whole damn series 😂

❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?

Ooo, that's a tough one, kinda like trying to choose your favorite child, right? But I have to say that one line that I know for sure that got a lot of mentions is from "Side Effects" (John/Kai, Halo) NSFW chapter 2 . It's John's response to Cortana telling him to say something complimentary to Kai during a rather, ahem, intimate moment. I don't know why, but I can just HEAR him earnestly, sincerely saying what he then says to Kai. 😳😂 I had quite a few people respond with varying degrees of AISLYNN, ZOMG, to that one, lol!

(For those who haven't read it and don't want to jump into a very graphic fic, I'll summarize by saying that he tells her she has a very lovely body part that most people don't end up getting complimented on in polite company. But he's so SINCERE about it and they're so comfortable with each other that she's not insulted or offended or anything, and that it honestly makes it feel rather sweet to me. But I'm the weirdo writing this smut stuff so I don't know if my judgment is 100% correct here or not, lol!)

💕 What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?

Obviously, I love all of my bbs BUT... There are a few that are just a little nearer and dearer to my heart. So I won't feel so biased towards my latest works, here are ones from the couple of fandoms I've written in: (in alphabetical order😉)

Arrow: "Five Times Oliver Held Felicity (And The One Time She Held Him)" (Olicity) - This one just... I don't know. We were still pretty earlier in the show and I had NO idea if they would ever become canon or even get a kiss at this point. This was just all a bunch of my own wish fulfillment moments put together in a fic. I also could've mentioned a line from it for the above answer (if my brain hadn't immediately gone to the Naughty Place™😳😉):

He held her like she was spun-glass fragile and infinitely breakable, but he knew the truth. Between the two of them, she was far, far stronger in all the ways that really mattered. She always had been.

Doctor Who: "Balancing Act" (Ten/Donna) NSFW - My very first multi-chaptered fic (and for many years my only one). I learned so much writing this one and I had such an amazing time with all of the wonderful friends I gained from them interacting with it! Plus, I loved getting the chance to fix Donna's unfortunate fate in a bawdy yet romantic way. 😉

Halo: "15 Minutes" (John/Reader) - I was still feeling-out writing Reader fics when I did this one (which was originally just a one-shot) and... *beckons you closer* if it feels a little more like an unnamed OC instead of a reader insert, that's because that was what it was originally going to be. 😱😁 I made the decision to go as a Reader fic very late in the thought process and ultimately, I'm happy with the choice. However, yes, that does mean that the Reader, at one time, had a name. But no, I can't tell you what it was. 🤐😉

The Flash: "By Any Other" (Eobard/Frost) - I have a LOT of Flash fics and they all mean something to me for one reason or another but, looking back, this was the first one where I really FELT my own connection to the characters. This was written in season 1, we had no idea for sure if we would be getting Caitlin as Killer Frost, so I decided to make my own version. Her powers were obviously more inspired by her comic book version, then altered further by me. What I ended up loving about this particular pairing, though, was something that wasn't planned at all: Caitlin is by far the more broken of the two of them in this series. I don't have any plans to add any more fics to Partners In Crime but, at the same time, I don't want to mark it finished. I like to think that these two are still existing out there somewhere in the far fields of my imagination, getting into trouble and loving each other a lot. ❄⚡

🎬 If a movie or show were based on your fic, which fic would you choose and who would you fancast?

Ohhh, mannnn, the possibilities! 😂 I mean, some of my fics would have to go straight to, like, HBO Max or worse, lol! But, trying NOT to pick from my unrepentant smut-fest fics...

"The Thousandth and the First" (Eobard/Caitlin, The Flash) is definitely one I would've loved to have seen actually portrayed on screen. It's one of my most "complete" fics in many ways: it's not just all jokes and laughs but it does have humor, it's not all smexy tiems but it does have some R rated love scenes (not nearly as graphic as some of my rated E/NC17 fics, though), it has a bit of sadness, it has some hard decisions and, ultimately, it's the only "realistic" way I felt I could redeem Eobard within the constraints of this story for the evil he had done.

Secondly, because I'm ignoring the fact I was supposed to just pick ONE, lol... You might know it used to be common for shows to have, like, 24 eps in a season and have time to do things like what-ifs? I'd love to see an episode of Halo where "Trust" (Kai, Cortana) showed us how things could've played out if Kai would've been the Blessed One instead of John and thus ended up getting Cortana in his place.

I think they would be a formidable pair, lol! 😁

Since all of my work is based on shows, I'd just leave the casting as it is. 😉

Consider that Jack and Maddie DO notice something ghostly about their son but are too far in denial.

Ghost hunting is fun for Jack and Maddie. They’re living the life they’ve always wanted. There’s nothing fun about the possibility that because of the tech that THEY built, that something strange, ghostly and irreversible has happened to their youngest child.

They won’t discuss it, not exactly, definitely not without immediately pivoting. Anytime they even catch themselves thinking about the possibility, they’ll latch on to every excuse there is to believe it’s not true. It’s like finding a sudden unsightly mole on your body. You know you should see a doctor, but then fear of what it might be causes you to latch on to any possible explanation that it’s nothing.

His strange disappearances and sudden reappearances? The scanners going off in his presence? His stammering stories as to where he’s been that seem completely fake? The brief moments where they swear they can see him glow a supernatural green?

He’s small. It’s easy for him to sneak around. That’s not his fault. The gadgets need more fiddling with, that’s all. Danny’s not a liar, he’s just got a problem with his nerves, that’s why he stammers, it’s normal for a shy kid. The glow? Uh... Just the mind playing tricks.

They might put together the truth if they’d just calmed down but during the brief moments where they DO consider openly discussing what could have happened to their son, they catastrophize the possibilities. Their brains go to the WORST possible case scenario of what could be happening to their boy until it’s too awful to think about and they just shut down that train of thought and drop the whole matter all together.

*Maddie, anxious and worriedly talking with her husband: “I’m not saying it’s true, but if something DID happen to Danny, than it’s best for us to deal with it as soon as possible, right? 🙁”

Jack: “HAHA, What are you saying Mads? 😁 That we cursed our own son with some sort of monstrous existence? That because of us, he’s been contaminated and changed? 😅 That over time he’ll slowly loose his humanity and transform into this mutated, radioactive creature?! 😦 That the process has already begun, and when he goes out for hours to god-knows-where he’s roaming the streets for human flesh to eat?!! 😨 That one day we’re going to come home to find him kneeling over Jazz’s corpse, eating her brains with his bare hands?!!!! 😱 THAT WE’RE GOING TO HAVE TO CHAIN HIM UP IN HIS ROOM AND LURE STRANGERS, THAT WON’T BE MISSED INTO OUR HOME SO THAT HE CAN FULFILL HIS BLOODLUST?!!!!!!!!! 😱 😱 I CAN’T BURY OUR DAUGHTER, MADS, AND I CAN’T KILL OUR BOY, BUT I DON’T KNOW HOW LONG WE COULD KEEP SOMETHING LIKE THAT UP!!!!!! * Suddenly startled by a shadowy figure with piercing glowing green eyes in the kitchen.

* Light switches on to reveal Danny standing at the fridge.

Maddie: “Jack, 15 minutes ago when we were stopped at a red light, you rolled down the window to yell at the strangers on the sidewalk to ask if they noticed any ghostly activity. I think it would be okay to just ask Danny.”

Later that evening. Jack psyches himself up in front of Danny’s door, preparing to ask a question that may have a terrifying answer. He swings the door open and barges in: “Danny have you been experiencing any ghostly activity lately?!! 😠”

Danny, very startled: “W-WHAT?!! NO!! 😨”

Jack: “Okay! Stay vigilant! 😠”

*Jack slams the door shut on his way out and marches back down to the lab to relay the news to his wife: “HE SAID NO! 😃 🎉”

Maddie: “GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME! 😄 🎉”

I was having a little chat with Rafael about all this creepy shit. I felt so sorry for him! He looked totally exhausted. He was afraid he’d be put in a loony bin, so he didn’t want to seek professional help. But I think I could convince him. Somehow this all, started to haunt me, too! 😟 😨

Today, I very rarely have contact with my Mom’s family. I just couldn’t handle all this! R. & his parents just got into this whole thing too much and whenever I saw them, I felt really bad afterwards. But....Rafael told me something that night that totally shocked me! I was terrified of dying, and when I was diagnosed with leukemia, I stopped visiting my Mom’s family. I was just scared to death! 😰

Rafael is seriously ill today, too! He has a heart disease. Also this addiction disorder I had and also Rafael as it seemed. I don’t know? Is such a thing inheritable? Because as I learned, my uncle, the guy Rafael & I dream about, died of an overdose. From that point on, I began to understand why my Mom was so afraid that I would die of an overdose. It’s because of her deceased brother. ...I talked to R.! I advised him to talk to a psychologist. 🤷‍♀️

Me: Believe me, you’ll feel better if you accept help! No one will put you in a loony bin for that! I also talk to my doc about my nightmares and no one imprisons me because of that! Although I even have a drug problem. So, If! They’d put me in a loony bin first, before you got in there.😉

Raphael: Can I talk to the same doctor as you?

Me. Sure! But he’s more specialized in my addiction, but I don’t think this will hurt you either! And it’s a good start, boo! But.... seriously! Doesn’t he scare you? I mean, do you see him, when he’s talking to you? 😟

Raphael: No, I don’t see him really. Just in my dreams. But I hear him, when I’m awake. I don’t want to scare you, sis, but... he told me something about you. 😞

Me: Ugh! Idk if I want to know? 😰 He keeps trying to tell me something, but I don’t understand him. He is totally creepy in my dreams and I didn’t like him watching Nico & me sleep. At the time, I didn’t know who he was! I even thought at the very beginning, he wasn’t human. He was just a dark shadow sitting on the edge of my bed. But the last times I dreamed about him, I could tell, that he was a man and that he was human. And he constantly showed me pills! I think or thought, this is because of my addiction. That’s why I was so scared & told my Dad everything. 😔

Raphael: He wants to tell you that you will die, A.! He told me that first I will die & then you! I asked him when and why! He says we’re sick.

Me: WHAT? 😱 You’re really scaring me!!!! You know that? 😰

Raphael: I’m sorry, A.! But I have to tell you! He wants this! He wants you to do something about it!

Me: But WTH should I do R.? 😨 🤷‍♀️ What does he mean? It’s about all this drug shit?

Raphael: Idk exactly? 🤦‍♂️ 😞 He just says you’re sick! He keeps saying, she’s sick, she’s sick, she’s sick... I think you should stop taking drugs & pills, A.! It can only be this! What else? 😞

Me: Yeah! 🤔 😔 But what about you?

Raphael: Idk? I can’t hear him clearly!!! 😩 But he told me, I was going to get sick, but you’re already sick!... Still, I’m gonna die first. 😟

Me: NO! I don’t belive this! 😧 He’s just trying to scare us because our parents wanted to forget him. And who knows? Maybe we are both just very sensitive and this is all just our vivid imagination! My Dad says this is all just bullshit and that such things do not exist! And he’s right, I think.... I mean, this is just insane! Who gets information about when and if he will die? Nobody! I’ve never heard of anyone getting such information from ghosts, it’s just impossible.😣

Raphael: Let’s see, if he’ll stop, now that I told you?....Hey, is this guy who came with you ok? I mean, is he gonna laugh at me or something?😳

Me: No! Philip is nice. Don’t worry! 🙂

Raphael: You have a smoke for me?

Me: Hehe. 😄 ....No, I’m sorry! Philip & I don’t smoke. I mean, we smoke sometimes, but not..... today. 🤷‍♀️

Raphael: Well, bad luck for me, I’d say. 😕 🤷‍♂️

When we went over to Philip, I asked him to be nice!! I didn’t want him to start arguing with me, in front of R., who’s totally depressed anyway.

Raphael: You two want to stay here? I wouldn’t mind some company.

Me: We don’t have any clothes and I’m totally done R.! But I promise I’ll be back, then I’ll stay here for a few days. 🙂

Philip: This wouldn’t be a bad idea! As soon as you get your pills back, I’ll come with you here! You know why!!

Raphael: I know what’s going on with A! I guess she needs a few days to get away from all the shit going on at home. Believe me, you won’t find any drugs here. This place is just totally..... barren! 🤨

Philip: But this is where we picked up drugs for A., her great friend D., is here.

Raphael: D.?... Oh, you mean that guy A. & Sonja had a crush on. 😉 Didn’t know he was into this shit! I didn’t even know he was here! I just heard about this tragedy with his family. Our dead uncle didn’t inform me about this, maybeee... it would have made more sense, than the shit he’s usally trying to tell me. 🤨

Philip: Huh? 🤷‍♂️

Me: Maybe he told you? But you didn’t understand him? 😉 😄 And I’ll explain later to you, P., about D.! I just don’t want to talk about such things now. I’ve had enough of death for today!

Raphael: Are you ok, A.? Shit, she’s going to fall!

Philip: Yeah! 🤨 But believe me! She doesn’t feel anything anyway! So, don’t worry! Just....don’t look at her! 🤷‍♂️

Raphael: Umm... Maybe I should get her a pillow?

Me: I can hear you Rafi!! I’m fine!.....🤦‍♀️

After that, Philip and I drove back even though my grandma wanted us to stay. But I’ll be back with Philip in a few days. I had to get “clean” again and I will stay clean, as long as P. was with me. When he went abroad, everything started all over again.😔 🤦‍♀️ And it will only end, when P. comes back! I think if Philip hadn’t found me on that particular day he came home, I wouldn’t be here now. I was in a bad place and could not move away from there without help. My Mom was looking for me everywher!! 😭 😞 My Dad & Ana were on vacation abroad with my Grandparents in Greece. P. helped my Mom.😔 And since then I have finally stopped!

That emoji perfectly describes my reaction! As soon as she said she didn’t cheat, I started wracking my brain for what could possibly be so bad that she would lie with saying she cheated and then it hit me after about half a minute of ideas (is she gay?! No. Is she like a man?! What, no stupid. Does her family hate him now? No. Is she getting married off and wants to let him down easy? Nahh… was she preggersss??? Ding ding ding 💡)and then I read the word pregnant and I was like NOOOOO FUCKING WAY THIS HOE KILLED JEON JUNGKOOK’S BABY!!!

Now I know this is a real touchy subject and everybody has their own opinions. I for one am pro-choice so her getting the abortion is not the problem for me. I’m sad for the life that could’ve been but that’s the way the cookie crumbled unfortunately. WhT I have the problem with is her doing it behind Jungkook’s back! That baby is half his too! He should’ve at least known of it’s existence! I realllllly doubt he would’ve forced her to have the baby. It could’ve gone one of two ways with him i think: he wouldn’t agree at first but then after visiting the doctors with her and seeing how this baby is supposedly unhealthy or just hearing her out about how she’s not ready and they’re not ready and maybe in a couple years and bla bla he would’ve supported her and maybe even gone with her. Orrr he would have gone with her to the docs and discussed options and really reassured her that he’s okay and he loves her and they’re ready and he’ll be there no matter what and he’ll mention he was already planning to have her move in and he might have convinced her to keep it. Maybe she would’ve had a miscarriage anyway later on anyway or maybe the baby would’ve been born ok. Who knows?

But that is like the biggest betrayal. Beyond cheating for sure. A major decision like that is Hers to make since it is her body but damn, she should’ve really told him. I would never trust her again cause she lied TWICE. She broke his heart twice unnecessarily. Like you KNOW jungkook Kiko! You KNOW he wouldn’t have been all controlling and forced you do carry his kid. You should’ve given him the chance to show you that or given him the chance to prove y’all are ready and endgame and that he’s okay with it ☹️ Unplanned pregnancy is scary but maybe after talking they could’ve made a different decision together. It’s just the fact that she didn’t tell him that has me soooo upset. Super disappointed in her and so so sad for jungkook.

And Hobi had the nerve to be all protective of her like she was the victim! 😒 An abortion isn’t a easy decision but sir, she made herself the victim. All of this could’ve been avoided if she told jungkook!!! Like she knew he was gonna hate her so why do it without telling him then???? And to get back together after doing that behind his back? 🤢 she is trash. Manipulative, lying, selfish trash.

I’m so excited to see what happens next! I kinda wanna go back and read again so I can find hints to the pregnancy.

I love the idea of Krowler being a total snob, especially when it comes to Stephen. He puts a handkerchief over his nose when Stephen shows up and goes oof does it smell like poor people here or is it just me? lmao Stephen can't do right. Until Krowler finds out Stephen defended Mordo from the entire sorcerer community basically and was willing to risk his life for him. Then a begrudging sort of familiarity ensues lol

I can this scenario being really fun in a universe where Krowler was much, much kinder to Karl and adored him to bits. I’m sure there’s gotta be at least one out there where he just showered him with love and spoiled him rotten instead of being a complete terror.

I can honestly see both Stephen and Krowler being extremely irritated with each other. Like whenever they meet both of them blurt out “Oh….you’re still alive….” With some very telling, tense, not so subtle eye rolling 🤣

They’d dislike each other for so many reasons. Stephen would hate him for how tough and strict he was with Karl, to the point of it being absolutely toxic at times. And Krowler would hate Stephen just for existing I think. He’s a grand summary of everything Krowler looks down upon. Poor. From a non-magic background. Common blood. Hell, he’d probably hate him for being American too. I can see Krowler finding a way to turn every positive trait Stephen has into a negative one.

A doctor you say? Can’t be a good one if he’s here now. Photographic memory? Very disturbing Karl, very much so, I don’t like that at all. Can you imagine the damage he can do with that? What of his family now are they at least…..what kind of Kingdom is Nebraska I haven’t….what???? No…..NO! 😱😱😱😭😭😭 Karl Amadeus if you wanted a farmer, I can get you a dozen. You don’t have to marry one!

But I’m sure dear Grandpapa will come around once he realizes how much Stephen really does love Karl. Especially if Krowler really loves his grandbaby.
