My Top Ten Favorite Bumbleby Moments (My Opinion Obviously)
10. All Fight Scenes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know I'm technically cheating on this one but whenever these two fight, I know I'm in for a good time. And all of them have been superb. These two are in sync without even communicating with each other. They know each other's abilities and know how to work together well in combat.
9. We're Protecting Each Other
Tumblr media
This was a 'you had to be there' moment. It was insane. Even knowing these two would eventually confront Adam, the way they did it blew my mind. I loved seeing these two stand up together to confront Adam and become each other's strength's. They had each other's backs in this moment and were going to do it together.
8. We Were There For Each Other
Tumblr media
This moment lived in my head rent free for months after the episode came out. They held hands before this to comfort each other during stressful times. Like Blake reaching out to apologize to Yang when she lost her arm and Blake reaching out when Yang's hand started to shake because of Adam. But this time, Yang reached for Blake in a moment of peace. After everything that happened, she forgave Blake and accepted her after everything they went through together. And all she wanted to do was just hold her hand again.
7. Volume 8 Reunion
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The amount of gushing I and many others did during this moment was crazy. We were starved for Bumbleby interactions in Volume 8, especially after Volume 7 did so many with them both. After 24 hours of craziness, the two are at peace once again. Blake at first is worried since they did separate missions Yang might be mad that they didn't work together. But all Yang did to reassure her was smile and the two touched foreheads and later embraced each other. It was such a sweet moment.
6. Date Night
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Volume 7 had so many good little bee moments that were adorable and I'm a sucker for fluff. Blake getting her new hair and Yang struggling to compliment it, the selfie, Blake falling asleep on Yang's lap with Yang holding her etc. But the two going to a club and off handedly mentioning they're gonna ignore Team FNKI just to have their own fun. You two can just call it a date, we won't judge lol. With Yang trying to teach Blake how to dance and Blake struggling to learn while laughing. I love how whenever Yang cracks a joke, she looks at Blake because she wants to make sure she see's Blake laughing. Not to mention Nora's comments later in the episode.
"Blake and Yang are off doing they're own thing again."
"Friends huh? Just friends?"
"Two people who have gone through that much? I think there's more going on."
And I will forever be mad RT didn't show us them at their date.
5. The Burning Candle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ya'll this was the spark that ignited the ship. Not only is the Burning Candle just a great episode but it's an amazing moment for Blake and Yang. We get to see these two open up and communicate their wants and desires. With Yang telling Blake about her past and trying to help Blake so she doesn't push herself too far. And then of course at the end Yang gives her that wink and says 'I'll save you a dance'. Then we later see the two dancing. It was also the first time we saw Blake laughing and happy and it was all because of Yang. Yang who just asked for a dance in return for helping Blake and opening up about her past. I was sold on this ship when this episode came out.
4. How Disarming ~
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The gay in my brain would not stop buzzing at this moment. It's amazing seeing how much Blake was the one openly flirting and initiating playful touch. There's a great post by @wixhing0nastar going over Blake's body language throughout the volumes. How a lot of the times Blake is more closed off in her posture, like how she holds herself. But here, she's leaning into to Yang's space and just playfully nudging her. She's not holding back. Also I swear I could hear Blake purr when she said 'How disarming'. Like my breath got caught in my throat. And then when Weiss said 'About time'. I knew this volume had to be the one where they finally get together.
3. Volume 9 Reunion
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is my favorite reunion of Bumbleby. Especially since we had to wait for so long for these two to be reunited. Blake was distraught last volume as she failed to save Yang and thought Yang died in front of her. Yang who had always been there to help her and fight by her side. And the first thing Blake does when she gets a free chance is to tackle hug Yang and hug her tightly. Softly whispering Yang in both disbelief and joy. And Yang simply holds her to reassure her like she did in Volume 8. Honestly, if Weiss and Ruby weren't there they would have probably stayed like that for hours lol.
2. I'm Not Gonna Break My Promise
Tumblr media
This used to be my favorite Bumbleby moment of all time and for good reason. Blake and Yang had killed Adam. The first thing Blake does is weep and fall to her knees. She's gone through so much and much of it had to do with him. Her torment of him is over and the person she once knew was dead. And Yang wordlessly just holds her and lets Blake cry. Blake finally gets out that she won't break her promise and swears it. Earlier Adam had mockingly told Yang that Blake made a promise to him once and that she didn't follow through with it. And even earlier in the volume Blake had promised to be there if they faced him. Yang has seen Blake stood by her words with her actions. And just reassures Blake she knows Blake won't break her promise. No more words are exchanged as the two just hold each other and Blake just cries more.
The Confession and Kiss
Tumblr media
Was anyone really surprised? I know I wasn't. I loved the number 2 moment on my list so much. But I knew as soon as we got the confession and kiss scene it would more than likely take my top spot. It was all a matter of how it was executed and it was done spectacularly. There's many essays and write ups on why this scene was so good so I apologize if I don't add much to the conversation.
But Blake and Yang are stuck in a punderstorm and are trying to figure out how to get out. With them eventually figuring out they need to say things about each other they've never said before. At this point the two have only really said cute things to each other and then Blake comes out with.
'I think....you're an extraordinary person.'
Tumblr media
Honest to god I was already getting emotional from just that as Blake goes in some more. Talking about how Yang does what she says, she brightens others around her and is always brave even when she's scared. The looks and the song Worthy playing in the background only add to how monumental this moment was for me. With Yang talking about how she liked how Blake wasn't intimidated by her even back when they didn't get along. She also talks about how Blake doesn't give up on people even when other people hurt her and she never gives up because she knows what matters to her. Blake has tried to help others and has sometimes failed but she has tried to push through despite labeling herself as a coward. But Yang see's a person always trying to do what's best for the people she loves.
Then we get this moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are my favorite expressions of the whole scene. It's so wholesome, pure and full of love in every detail. At this point the two know what needs to be said but Yang is at first hesitant and the bridge between them widens. Blake asks if Yang thought of something then didn't say it and Yang is so bashful as she is realizing she needs to say those three words. But Yang is scared, she compares it to a cliff and if she goes through with it she'll fall. I've always headcannoed that Yang's greatest fear is letting those she loves down. And that ties into how she fell at Beacon and fell in Volume 8. It can also tie to her with the aftermath of Mercury and feeling she let her team down. She's scared she won't be good enough and will lose it all. It also similarly ties into her abandonment issues.
But Blake points out, they're already falling. Their emotions aren't going to go away just because they're scared. They're already worried for each other when they're fighting to save the world and two thought they were dead last volume. With Blake thinking Yang died and she failed to save her. So Blake encourages Yang gently by telling her to say it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And after a heavy sigh, Yang confesses with Blake jumping in before she can finish as the two say I love you. The bridge that separated them is gone and they're together. They look at each other with blushing cheeks with Worthy playing in the background. They pull into each other, Blake slowly smiling as they get closer and kiss each other. White lilies sprout from under them as the while lily symbolizes rebirth and rejuvenation of the soul. The flowers are also used at weddings and can also mean purity. It's such a perfect flower to fit this perfect this scene.
And there you have it, my top ten Bumbleby moments. There were lots of moments to choose from and so many of the ones I love unfortunately didn't make it on this list. So here are some honorable mentions down below.

its upsetting to see the fear and other negative emotions that wash over gale's face in that clip showing the new ascended astarion kiss, but i think it could send a good message of hey this astarion ending is very much his bad one stop romanticizing it.

Things that I would sell my soul for and kill a man in an attic to see in a tpodg adaptation (and still probably won't ever see ;-;)
Henry played by an actress. Despite the lack of analysis of it, tpodg has some great openings for the nature of gender and gendered roles. If Henry is played by an actress, WITHOUT changing the gender of the character and simply presenting the actress as masculine I think there could be some very interesting analysis to be had especially because of the character’s weird relationship with women (see previously list about henry). Also it would be kinda neat imo!
An adaptation set in 1930s hollywood. Tbf this exists and it’s called real life. But there’s never not a good time to call out the scummy ways young, beautiful (and queer!) people are abused by the establishment.
An adaptation where instead of Henry being adapted to be some weird conservative mouthpiece he’s adapted to be as cynical as he is meant to be. People often forget that underneath the misogyny is some actually very interesting dialogue, such as a call for individualism, disbelief in the establishment/his own country. All I am saying is that if you get past the edgelord bs, you can actually see something that makes sense.
An adaptation set in 1960s England. Out of all the periods one could pick, the 60s feels like the most fitting for the novel’s original story. The 60s was when youth culture became the dominant culture of the Western World, it was a break from traditional norms that were literally inspired by Victorian sensibilities. It is the first time we start seeing traditional masculinity challenged through Mods and the Peacock Revolution. Also the fashion would be fun.
Basil not dying somehow. Idk how it would be done without ruining the climax, but I would love an adaptation that doesn’t kill Basil for once.
Basil being a cat owner. (PLEASE)
Hetty Merton’s part not being adapted into a redemption thing for Dorian.
Actually pretty sets that match the beauty of the written setting. Stop with the dark academia bullshit— this book does not have the vibe of a stuffy academic and dark dorm room (that’s Frankenstein, yall). Give me bright gardens of roses and sickly yellow laburnum. I want to be able to smell the lavenders because their purple hue is so abrasive to my eyes. Give me the color palette of Utopia (UK ver—the US ver is so bad ;-;), dammit!
If someone does a period adaptation of the 80s again, can Henry please be a modern rock star and Basil as his friend/designer/manager–idk. It would be very fun and give Henry an actual connection to something that got a moral panic. Also England’s rock and pop tended to be quite queer in this era—ie “relax” by frankie goes to hollywood.
Can someone smarter than me figure out how to create an adaptation where Basil lives please? Ty ily <3

Girl protags <3<3<3
Tumblr media
I genuinely think that the female protagonists in pokemon have a way better design than the guys, I mean sure sometimes I wished they wore pants or like sweaters just like the guys but I think that's why the girl protags are better in design since they have more variety (I think) when it comes to their design.

Rewatching Chicago PD bc I missed Jay. I’m on season 6 & remembering how much I disliked this version of Adam… I didn’t like him and Hailey hooking up, him being the “bad boy”, disrespecting Antonio any time he was in charge over Voight, and how insanely impulsive he was. I understand he was grieving Al but fuck, he was a huge unlikable asshole during season 6…
This might just be my own opinion, I understand if people disagree with me.

Kinda related to the last poll I did but I've never gotten why so many people think 3 would easily beat 4. Like splat 2's leaves were harder than 1's, 4 has more weapons and seemingly more agility and doesn't pass out after every thing they do (last parts kinda a joke)
I do get the sanitized 3 battle (I don't really think inner 3 counts since they are just in 8's head." But lets be honest.... it's not the hardest thing ever, not even close to being the hardest thing in OE.
(Yes I am a bit bias cuz I like 4 the most lol)

Even if that anon claims it wasn't a church, the setting most DEFINITELY resembles one. And a user on Twitter also showed how they also made a few references to some things in Christianity. This just wasn't it.
The whole mv was sketchy. I didn't appreciate the one eye signs they had in the mv, either. It's like the company loves showing off that shit atp (It was in the GBGB MV, too)
The song was dull too. The choreography and the girls were the only cool parts of...that mess.
agreed. it’s Immanuel Presbyterian church in LA, and it is a popular church that allows filming to take place, BUT it is still used to attend mass etc. and even though filming there is allowed, it’s more about what they’re filming.
I also saw a twt post about the references and it makes my eye twitch icl. I know atheists don’t care that’s why they’re trash talking about people whining, but if it was a different religion it’d be a whole different story, wouldn’t it?
Let’s say fine, they were given permission to use the church for filming, but for filming that? yeah no. not when their concept pictures were basically mocking religious events. the crown of thorns? staffs with their logo on the top? and the one eye symbols in the back? (it creeped me out in gbgb too) eunchae is literally wearing devil horns. they replaced the cross with their logo?? how does no one see that and think, oh that’s not it?
it’s a shame. I heard the song before the mv came out. didn’t even need to watch the mv bc it was already controversial. I’m not giving it views, sorry. ALSO not fearnots using this ‘controversy’ to boost views etc.
not to add that they got a minor, eunchae, barely of age, shaking her ass and we know they have fans 20+ years old, the whole situation is making me uneasy :///
ik it isn’t just the girls but hybe in general. the staff and production team. whoever thought of this concept :/ it’s not it.

My Tik tok fyp has so many vids on the new Snow White
I’m sad that the actress doesn’t look like the character but I’m more agitated by Rachel’s and Gals attitude. I’m not and haven’t been a fan of this era of people writing women to be stronger and better than men. Men and women both have strengths and weaknesses and it’s important to have those in a character. It’s like women are just naturally better and have no weaknesses while the men are put down and are displayed as weak.
Stop it.
No one is better than the other! Can we please have women in movies go through character arcs and better themselves again!? Or even better, let fantasy be fantasy! Let a woman dream about true love or let her not choose to be this firey leader. Balance in storytelling is important. We keep leaning on one side. It’s okay to have a physically strong leader and it’s also ok to have a non leader who prefers the sedatary life and focus on family. Both are strong in their own way.
The OG Snow White is being ridiculed and stomped on just like the other princesses. It’s even worse knowing that Snow White is the first full length animated feature And it's the highest-grossing animated movie ever made. Put some respect on that people. You don’t have to like the movie but it’s very special and honorable movie that deserves more love and care in the remake.

Why are some Kyman fans like this?
Abuse is not loving. It's abuse. This is just...yikes.
All i said was I find the ship abusive. Which is my opinion. If you ship it, that's awesome. But don't try to portray abuse as a loving relationship. As someone who has been a victim of DV and unhealthy relationships, this is not the take you want to have.
Ship what you want to, just don't say that just because a relationship is unhealthy or abusive doesn't mean they don't love each other. If you love someone, you'd never hurt them. Physically or emotionally.

My biggest complaint with season 2 is I didn't find the soundtrack nearly as memorable as season 1. There were some really amazing songs, This Woman's work, I Love My baby, and Roads to Moscow really stood out to me but other than that it was forgettable. Completely personal opinion but there was no Avalanche, or The Chain, or Miles From Nowhere (or Perfect Day which was my favourite from season 1 but idk how influential it was to other people). The sound track was good but it wasn't season 1 good.

After a few days of processing, I have thoughts about Netflix's Lockwood and Co adaptation.
It feels like they nerfed a lot of the story so they could have fanservice-y shipping moments, which I wouldn't have minded if it didn't come at the cost of the content. The show already has a small runtime, do we really have time for another scene where Lucy is mad at Lockwood and then he apologizes?
Which brings me to my next point: Lockwood feels weirdly out of character? That's not his actor's fault, Cameron Chapman is fantastic in the role. It's more like the writers didn't understand his character or his actions. Which I think is mainly due to them not adapting The Screaming Staircase in full. (Small essay incoming!)
So, to me, the first three books center around a certain character's development. The Hollow Boy centers around Lucy's jealousy and insecurity, The Whispering Skull centers around George's obsession with discovering more about the Problem and the dangers it posed when it got too far--especially when Lockwood and Lucy neglect to listen to him. In a similar fashion, The Screaming Staircase is where we see the most of Lockwood's character. We see his charm, his cleverness, and his recklessness. Most importantly we see his development into a more serious leader. These all become extremely important as the series goes on.
In the books, from the very moment he’s introduced, Lockwood is established as a rather non-serious, reckless leader. For example, Lucy is the one reminding him not to ask anything weird from the client, he finds it humorous when she jumps from feeling Mr. Hope’s death, and he’s very blasé about not having chains. This is Lockwood’s recklessness at its worst.
Over the course of the story, we see more and more as he begins to grow from it and become more of the leader he is in The Empty Grave. Yet, despite all his recklessness, Book Lockwood feels charming and confident because we see the trust Lucy and George have in him. Even if we weren’t seeing the story from Lucy’s perspective, their trust would be proven correct as we see how Lockwood handles Fairfax’s deal, how he finds the entire thing suspicious from the start and does reconnaissance on his own, piecing the entire thing together. Lockwood is reckless, but he isn’t stupid; when he gets them into something, he does anything to get them out of it. Over the series he becomes their leader, but it all starts with The Screaming Staircase.
Now, take all of that development, cut it out of the story and replace it with empty fanservice and ship baiting and you get the Netflix’s Adaptation’s Lockwood. Listen, I love Locklyle and genuinely think it is one of the best ships out there. But, to me, the ship was only as good as it was because it had time to flourish and we got to witness the character’s developments, both together and apart. When you remove any and all of Lockwood’s development and make it Lucy’s responsibility to chastise him every single time he does something stupid, you completely mess up the balance that made their relationship so good in the first place. Honestly, it feels like the writers put too much on Lucy’s character and took too much away from George and Lockwood.
In my opinion, this show doesn’t feel like Lockwood and Co. it feels like “Lucy and the two schoolboys she works with–one’s reckless and suicidal, the other’s smart or something–he exists, okay?” Maybe I’ll make a separate essay for that later, because after having a day or so to process it all, it really seems like they butchered the characters.

Can we talk about season 10 April? Like goddamn. Girl had a glow up. I don't understand the hate she gets. She's literally such a cool April. I mean sure she was confusing donnie but other than that she's still a pretty good character

If i may ask why didn't you like Mop?
average world drop mount grind more tedious than usual imo, i'm not a spiritual person by nature so it was just personally harder to connect to the story and the aesthetic, the story is..... at it's worst in terms of faction squabbling save for anduin imo, wrathion, seige of orgrimmar, actually i think all the raids were too big now that im thinking about it, there's an entire chunk of the timeless isle that you can never ever step foot if you didn't do wrathion's dumb quests, pet battling, hozen, and i just dont rly like any of the dungeons.
also "if you have a negative emotion on this continent it will beat the shit out of you and we have to deport you for the safety of the community" is fucking insane.

While I don’t love 4e art (except one picture from the Dark Sun campaign setting that for some reason just tickles my brain), I love it so much more than AD&D art and to some extent 3e art (though there is a picture in one of the 3.5e books that I look at and go “that’s just straight up a Pathfinder picture” bc it just straight up looks like a Pathfinder picture)
5e really out here with the best dnd art huh

A fanfic pet peeve of mine is when people censor swear words in their fics. Like if you don’t feel comfortable writing them, just don’t use them. I promise you swears are not need to make a story work. The immersion immersion of a fic is ruined, at least for me, when I see grawlix (ex. @#$%). I spend half the time attempting to figure out what you’re trying to say than actually reading your story. There’s no censorship to work around, either write the actual word or just don’t use swears.
