Note: This has mentions of GOT (Game of Thrones) characters, if you click on their name you should be able to pull up an image of them. These images will come in handy later trust me.
A/N: As a treat for you all this chapter will be my first ever contribution, this being with Smolvenger (Tumblr). She gave me the idea with Hal sneaking out with someone to a tavern and I expanded on it adding a betrothed, alongside Loki. So while our ideas might be the same, we are taking different approaches, and I as of now have yet to read hers. Meaning in no way will my work be excatly likes hers, but you will have it to look forward to. Now with that out of the way please enjoy my first-ever kinda of contribution....
Her face rumored to be beloved, and admired by all, was graced with a frown. A frown that always seemed to be held in regards to him. A very frown that Loki felt didn't suit her features, not that she would ever let him tell her that, for she was far to stubborn to listen to his reasoning. Far to uptight about the rulings, that had likely been drilled into her since birth just as they were with him. Her tone mirroring her, rigid point of view, as she spoke to him. "My prince, I would highly suggest against this," she said, just as she did every time Loki would attempt to get them into mischief.
"Now what would be the fun in that, my dear," Loki responded, unaffected by his betrothed's words, for he had heard them far too many times.
"You call this fun?"
"Yes, what else might this be?"
"Inproper, of course."
"You always say that my dear," Loki said, another remark out of his silver tongue, far to use to their bickering.
"And yet you never seem to listen," she reasoned just as she always tried to do, yet as always Loki ceased to listen.
"What fun would it be if I were to listen?"
"Not everything has to be fun, my prince."
"Says the killjoy."
"I am no kill joy as you call it," Loki's betrothed proclaimed, as her arms folding across her chest, and right to her bosom, one that Loki remainded himself to not to close look upon.
"Aren't you my dear?"
"I am not."
"Prove it then."
"How?"
"Come with me to the Lion's tavern."
"The lions tavern," Loki's betrothed, asked confusing now masking her face.
"The one and only."
"You mean the one with all the," Loki's betrothed, started to say yet seemed to fail at finding the exact words, through Loki already what she was going to say.
"The lady company."
"Yes."
"Some go there for the women." In fact I can think of a few, Loki thought, but saw better as not to name.
"Figures."
"I never said I do."
"You don't?"
"Perhaps I go for the drinks."
"You know I am no innocent young maiden?"
"Aren't you," Loki said, giving a skeptical look towards his betrothed face.
"I am afraid not, my prince, for having many men in my family has immuned me to such flights."
"Have they?"
"Yes."
"Then if that is so, why do you act, so..."
"Uptight, was that you were going to use?"
"Clever aren't you? Trying to guess what I might say."
"I do try, my prince," she teased tone now far lighter then before.
"Enough with the prince talk, I am your betrothed, not some stuffy old lord."
"I would never call you stuffy."
"Then what would you call me?"
"I don't believe you might want to hear to what I would call you."
"Don't I, it wouldn't be anything I haven't heard before."
"And give you the satisfaction of being right?"
"You tease."
"Takes one to know one doesn't it?"
"Such a tongue you have on you little one," Loki interjected, now edging ever so closely towards the one who would one day become his wife. Rather then back away as Loki might've thought, his betrothed did no such thing and remained still.
"I am no little one."
"Aren't you for you are younger then I."
"I will have you know, I am not much younger then that shield maiden friend of yours."
"Sif?"
"Yes, I believe that was her name."
"You make little point my little dove."
"Again I am not little."
"Aren't you, considering I am a god?"
"And I shall be a goddess once we marry."
"If we marry."
"You doubt our parent's wishes," she asked, her eye brow now furrowing in a way that Loki's couldn't say wasn't alluring.
"I doubt your likelyness to kill me."
"As if I would waste such a task on the likes of you."
At this Loki made a fake stabbing motion with his hands, as if she had wounded him, when truly she hadn't, at least not further then anyone else had. "You wound me my dear."
"Do I? From what I hear you can just come back alive."
"So you have heard tales of me?"
"Of course, who hasn't heard of you?"
"Yet you will still marry me?"
"I do as my parents wish, just as you do."
"Ah yes, the wills of our gracious parents."
"Indeed, my prince."
"Loki," Loki interjected, causing his betrothed to pause for a moment. "Call me Loki."
"Loki?"
"Yes, if we are to be married, you might as well call me by my proper name, no more of this my prince nonsense."
"If that is what you wish."
"Now now, what happened to that fierce vixen who was just speaking to me?"
A look of confusion once again crossed Loki's betrothed face, one that he figured would happen. For ladies such as her have likely been taught that they must keep their mouths shut and obey their husband's wishes. A setiment that seemed to be voiced in his betrothed next words. "You like that?"
"Why wouldn't I, for what is more alluring then a fierce woman?" Loki was far from the people that she has likely been told up, for he was one who prefered someone that would keep him on his toes. For what was life without a little danger or mischief? Perhaps this might be more fun then I intially thought, Loki's mind already slowly turning.
"You find it alluring?"
"Yes, for I have always liked my companion to be sharp of mind and tongue. I find it makes the sex far more sensual."
"Such crass words coming from you."
"What did I wound your ears," Loki asked, his tone while still teasing held just the smallest bit of concern. He had heard tales of woman not knowing such things until after they were married or at times broken into the wrong way.
"No, as I said before I have long since heard the things due to my family."
"I see, then shouldn't that make going to a tavern of no issue," Loki asked, finally getting back on subject.
"And if anyone were to see us, what might we do then?"
"We can say we are searching for someone."
"And who might that be," Loki's betrothed asked, her arms crossed against her chest once more.
"One of our advisors of course," Loki said, as if the very idea he was suggesting wasn't going against everything that his fiance had likely been taught.
"And which one might that be?"
"The one who always lingers at establishments such as those."
"And who in there right mind would do that," she asked, her brows furrowing once more, still very much skeptical about Loki's idea.
"If you come with me, you shall see. So how about it," Loki said offered his hand out to hers.
"I swear to all the gods above if we get caught, I am blaming you," she said, relenting likely not in the mood for another bickering spat with Loki. One he was pleased enough not to have.
"Whatever you wish, now let us go," Loki proclaimed.
"And how do you suggest we do that, we just going to waltz up wearing this," she said, gestering to the royal attire they were currently wearing.
"But of course not, I am far too clever for that," Loki said, and with a simple glow of his seidr, both he and his betrothed were adorned with clocks, hers being blue while his was black.
"And this will help how," she asked?
"Patience my darling all in due time."
"Must you with the pet names?"
"Always," Loki remarked with a grin, as with another glow of his seidr, his form changed, his hair now longer black as raven, now turning a light brown color almost blond with the sun, his eyes no longer green, now becoming more a hazel eye color, his clothing turning more into what one might see on a commoner wear yet rather then it be green instead it was red.
"What no green," Loki's betrothed asked?
"While this color isn't to my taste, people prefer my brother's color to mine, and seeing as we don't wish to be seen I thought it might be best."
"I see, now what about me," she asked, gestering to her still dressed royal clothes.
"It's of no issue," Loki said, as with another grow of his seidr, her dress became something more similar to what a woman of Asgard would wear now beneath the blue cloak. "Now would you wish for your features to remain the same or shall I change them?"
"I would rather like to keep my features, through I suppose my hair could become a lighter color."
"If this is your wish, my lady," Loki said with a bow, as his fiance went from looking like what could best be described as Anne Bolelyn (from Tudors), to Margaery Tyrell (GOT), her hair no longer dark brown falting on black, to a lighter color that was more like Loki's, and her eyes now green. "Now shall we go," he asked offering his hand to hers. Rather then decline she took it.
"I suppose we shall."
With a final glow of Loki's green seidr the two vanished, but not before Loki left two illusions in their place, in case anyone were to wonder. The illusions already bantering just as Loki and his betrothed would do.
The next time Loki and his betrothed reappeared, they were on a tunnel. "Must that be so dizzing?"
"Never teleported before?"
"Not without riding."
"Well it was either that or we walk, and I figured you would rather not be seen so this was the best I could do."
"We are in the dark," she protested.
"Not for long," Loki said, as soon the smallest bit of light began to admit from his palms. "Now will you let me lead the way?"
"If I must."
"There we go."
"Yes, now where are we," she asked, following the light that was coming from Loki's palm as he lead the way.
"Let us just say I have my ways of escaping the castle." With a single finger coming up to Loki's lips toward the end.
"I see without Heimdell knowing."
"We wouldn't be here if he knew."
"Point there." Step by step Loki lead the way with his betrothed following right behind him. "So who is this advisor we are searching for?"
"One that comes from Winterfell."
"You mean the realm of ice and snow without the frost giants?"
"Yes, his wife is the curent reigning queen of Winterfell."
"You mean Sansa Stark?"
"You have heard of her?"
"Yes, everyone has heard of Sansa and her lord husband Tyrion Stark. He is said to be one of the wisest men and from the Lannisters of Vanaheim."
"Have you heard of the other tales about him."
"What other tales," Loki's betrothed asked, a curious look upon her face once more.
"At the taverns he has earned the name of Small Drunk One, through he hasn't been there as much since getting married."
"If that is so, why is he here this night?"
"His wife lady Sansa, is said to have other matters to attend to, and I fear Tyrion might do something."
"So you are friends with this man, how unexpected coming from you."
"What can I say, I am always up for a surprise," Loki asked with a friendly shrug.
"If that is what you call it."
With that Loki and his betrothed finally began to talk, as they continued their way through Loki's tunnel, yet not without bickering along the way. Until finally they seemed to have arrived in the streets of Asgard, as Loki squashed the light out, and put a finger to his lips once more. "Remember no mention of whom we are."
"Who do you think I am?"
"I suppose you are right."
"Aren't I always?"
"Must you?"
"Always, after all if I give you an easy time, what shall you expect when we are married."
"Quite a tongue you have now?"
"There is nobody but you and I to know of this, and you won't tell."
"Won't I?"
"You won't, because it will all lead back to you."
"Will it," Loki asked his now light brown eyebrow raising just a bit.
"If not I shall make it."
"Fair game, I suppose, now what shall your name be if you are asked?"
"I was thinking Astrid Erikdottir, and yours?"
"I was thinking perhaps Thomas Williamson's."
"Perfect, now shall we go Thomas," Loki's betrothed asked now offering her hand to Loki.
"I suppose we shall lady Astrid," Loki said, as the two made their way to the tavern now above their head.
As Loki stood in front of the wooden doors that had guarded the tavern, ones that Loki had never particularly noticed on previous visits. Through on previous visits Loki had been more preoccupied by other things, whether that be seeking pleasureable company, or looking for a way to drink the days away. To perhaps forget just for a moment that he was the asgardian prince, even if he was merely second.
Yet with his betrothed, watching her eyes flicker up to the words The Lion's Head engraved above them. Loki felt a new apperciation for having been here before, just so he could see this. Noticing more details that he never had thought of, such as the fact he could hear the muffled sounds of the tavern even merely standing outside the doors. The two standing in silence, for a few moments as the two took in the enviroment around them, Loki's heart beating with every passing moment, not that he would admit it. Nor would he admit that he was the first one to spoke, far tired of not hearing her voice. "So how long do you intend on standing out here my lady," he asked, already having a teasing comment on his mind.
"For however I wish to, considering you dragged me here," his betrothed asked, tongue as sharp as ever.
"You agreed to come, so isn't this on you?"
"You called me a killjoy, so I thought why not prove you wrong."
"And you certainly have, I am surprised you have made it this far princess."
"Yes, despite my desire to kill you, leaving me a widow," his betrothed said, using a tone far to causual for what she had suggested.
"We both know if you were to do that, you might have to marry someone worse."
"Yes, while you are a pain, I much rather take your company over another."
"Awww that almost sounds like a complainment," Loki said, his tone still teasing.
"Take it whatever you would like. Now are we to head in or shall we be married before we do?"
At this comment, Loki stepped out of the way, allowing the door to creek open, holding it for his betrothed. "After you my lady I insist," he offered.
"If you insist I suppose I must go in."
With these words, Loki's betrothed stepped into the doors of the tavern with the door creeking shut upon it's closing.
youtube
The moment they stepped into the tavern there was noise, and sights that no one would let someone such as Loki's betrothed or in this case Astrid to see. Through Loki had intially come to the tavern to show his betrothed some fun, it seemed as perhaps Tyrion might be worse of then he feared. As Loki's eyes began to search for where Lord Tyrion would be, through Loki's betrothed eyes were elsewhere. Eyes that Loki wouldn't say he yearned to see on him, not that he could say anything.
Just as Loki swore he could see Tyrion, something blocked his way, as music filled the air. "What is this," Loki's betrothed asked, confused from what she was seeing.
"Music of course, what else might it be?"
"Yes, but what are we to do?"
"Dance of course."
"Dance."
"Yes."
"Here?"
"Why not?"
"Without wearing any proper attire, or doing the waltz?"
"Not every dance is the waltz my dear."
"I know, but I didn't expect it would be in a place such as this."
"So will you have this dance with me," Loki asked holding his hand out to her.
"I........," Loki's betrothed stuttered unsure of what to do.
"Come on, you said you weren't a killjoy, so why not try just this once?"
"Yes, but what? You afraid I will let go of you?"
"Perhaps."
"Doth the lady protest?"
"Always."
"If that is so we have no need to do this, I could always find some other way to get over to Tyrion," Loki said as his voice dropped just a bit. For while he would never admit, he had a desire to dance. Perhaps to see her eyes light up in a way he had never seen before, and would likely never see given how formal they must be.
"No, I can do this."
"Are you sure," Loki asked his face full of concern not wanting to pressure his betrothed into something she might not want to do.
"I am sure."
"If that is what you wish then follow me," Loki said, as once Loki's betrothed took his hand did the two begin to dance alongside everyone else. As with every turn they made they got closer and closer to someone. It was here where Loki began to dance closer to the smaller man.
As to the sky, a small man barely 4'5 in height, his almost as blond as Loki's current appearance, his eyes a bright blue, with a scar running down half of his face, yet rather then be dressed warmly he wore longer clothing, colored black, with boots at the bottom, in one hand through he had a glass full of mead aimed towards the sky. "There he is," Loki said, as he pointed to said small man.
"That's Tyrion?"
"Yes, you do recall he is short?"
"Of course, everyone knows of his stature, what I didn't expect is for someone, so small to be able to hold so much mead."
"You wouldn't yet here he does."
"I can see that, but what do we do now?"
"Now we go to him," Loki said as he soon let go of his betrothed hand much to his dismay. Making his way over to Tyrion, everything after that became a blur of people. Loki's only goal was to get towards Tyrion.
"Cheers to my lady wife, who couldn't make it," he said slurring every so often with his words.
"Tyrion," he exclaimed, once he was close enough to the small man.
"And who might you be," Tyrion asked, his words still slurred.
"Someone you know."
"Are you sure for all I know you could be *hic* a stranger, or perhaps someone sent by my family *hic*."
"We can dicuss this later, why are you here," Loki asked, as slowly he went to one side of the table. Loki's betrothed seeing this took to the other side at least she tried to, until something happened, through Loki didn't see it at the time.
"For the company of course *hic* seeing as my lady wife isn't with me *hic*. How I miss her red hair, her bosoms, and very being *hic*," Tyrion proclaimed.
"You won't be able to see her, if you remain here."
"And why won't I?"
"Can't you come with us," Loki pleaded.
"Why now isn't the time to discuss such matters *hic*. Now is the time, for fun my friend prince Loki *hic* would know of this. Now have some fun young man *hic*, the night is young," a drunk Tyrion proclaimed.
"Yes, but," Loki said about to protest when something caught his eye. His betrothed in the arms of someone else, something that stirred Loki the wrong way. Almost as if there was a ping in his heart. Impossible, it can't be, it's too soon, he thought. Yet still the ping remainded, as rather then focus on the fun he could be having instead Loki's eyes were elsewhere. Watching as his betrothed was in the arm's of another, his gaze switching back and further between the drunk Tyrion, and his betrothed. Rather then thinking it through, he grabbed the still drunken Tyrion earning him protests from him.
"What is this for?"
"Your own good, friend."
"It isn't, if it were for my own good *hic* you would let me drink and know things *hic*," Tyrion proclaimed, this got Loki to recieve looks from the tavern paterons, including the one that held his betrothed.
At this Loki let out a too casual laugh. "It's nothing, I am afraid my uncle here has had far too much to drunk, so we should be off," Loki said, the lie coming out of his tongue quicker then one might expect. Taking this chance to motion his betrothed towards him, as soon Loki held a drunk Tyrion, exiting the establishment. Once in a corner that nobody could see Loki changed from Thomas Williamson's, back to Loki.
"It's you Loki," Tyrion proclaimed.
"Yes, it is, what would Sansa say about this?"
"Well Sansa isn't here *hic*.
"Yes, but a lady was."
"Whom?"
"My betrothed."
"And who might that be? Perhaps it *hic* was the lady who was stolen away *hic*."
"You know?"
"Of course I know, beloved prince, you do *hic* recall I drink and I know things. Didn't you *hic* think I saw, your jealous glare my friend *hic*?"
"You have no which you speak of."
"Don't I, I am not your brother nor am I Jamie *hic*."
"And if you were right," Loki asked his arms now crossing against his chest.
"We both know I am, I would ask what her name might be *hic*?"
"You can call me Astrid Erikdottir," a voice injected as much to Loki's delight, his betrothed stood there once more, her hood off.
"I see, it is a pleasure to meet you *hic*, through I never expected it would be like this *hic*."
"Nor did I sire," Loki's betrothed said offering her hand to Tyrion.
"How much did you hear," Loki asked?
"Whose to say, now shall we go, I believe we have had enough fun," Loki's betrothed asked paying little mind to the question.
"Must I," Tyrion asked?
"I am afraid we have meeting tomorrow, and father may not like seeing you there."
"Ah yes, your father, how I wish *hic*, I could drink when dealing with him."
"Alas you can't Tyrion."
"I know dear prince, then let us go *hic*," Tyrion proclaimed before he began to mumble something about his other drunken adventures.
Through Loki paided little to no mind as he followed Tyrion, but not before redawning his Thomas Williamson's look. He looked towards his betrothed in an apologetic manner. "Was this fun enough for you," she teased.
"Must you," Loki asked?
"You were the one who claimed, to wanting to have fun."
"Yes, but perhaps next time it could be more fun."
"More fun then this?"
"Far more fun."
"Ooh and you expect me to go along with it?"
"Won't you?"
"Only if you admit something?"
"And what might that be?"
"You were jealous."
"Jealous?"
"Back at the tavern when I was dancing."
"And if I was, what might you say?"
"I would say he dragged me over there, and I had little desire to go."
"Did you?"
"Yes."
"My how improper of you, for wanting to refuse a dance," Loki teased.
"You were the one who wanted me to have more fun."
"That I did, and did this live up to it?"
"Perhaps but how could you imagine in topping it next time," she asked turning her gaze toward Loki.
"Next time?"
"Yes, for I am afraid I might still be what you might call a killjoy."
"Are you?"
"Perhaps, you might just have to see on how improper I can be," she said and before Loki could say anything she went closer to Tyrion with Loki following closely behind. Through just as she said that a thought crossed Loki's mind. A thought that perhaps this wouldn't be so bad.
A thought that would remain in his mind even after Astrid Erikdottir, turned back into his betrothed, through that thought would remain clouded until later. For Loki and his betrothed had much more improper things to do, through those stories are for another time, through this story was just the start of their improper lives together, one that would be long and full of what would be deemed of improper things. All because of one improper visit to a tavern....

MBO Robert's Rebellion: Episode 7
for those keeping track, another minor amend to timelines - pushed this ep's events one year later than canon to give Duskendale room to breathe, and conflated Jaime's trip to Riverrun (which has no canonical date but was probably a couple years later than this) with the Lannisport tourney (canonically one year earlier than I have it here). the chronology around each event didn't seem to matter too much and also I really wanted to introduce the Tully sisters at this point, so Jaime's Riverrun visit seemed like the most natural way to tie them in with someone we've introduced already.
also, switched the victor of the Lannisport tourney from Arthur to Rhaegar as I had it the other way round in ep3!
mostly this is a big ole check in with the Robert's Rebellion generation and what kind of kids they are. Cers and Mags didn't seem all that relevant in the grand scheme of things but it felt weird to leave it out given that all goes down during the Lannisport tourney so whatever
Prev: Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5, Episode 6
Next: Episode 8
title for this one: Cersei's First Homicide
One year timeskip ⏱We’re in the Riverlands, where a young Petyr Baelish (9) is punting Cat and Lysa down a calm, narrow river. Cat (13) and Lysa (11) lie back together at the prow, whispering loudly to one another in their secret language - this seems to be annoying Petyr, who doesn’t understand a word. He asks them not to speak it, which makes the sisters laugh - together, they rock the boat until Petyr loses balance and falls over aboard
Edmure (aged.... let’s go with 6) appears on the riverbank: Father wants them back at the castle. Petyr asks for a hand out of the river, which Lysa says he’ll only have if he says that he loves her. Petyr looks slightly aghast, and Cat, taking pity, offers him her own hand. Lysa’s turn to look put out
The trio make their way back to the castle; in the courtyard, Hoster Tully greets Jaime Lannister (11), who is acting as a messenger between Lord Crakehall and Riverrun. Hoster introduces his daughters (proudly mentioning Cat's recent betrothal to Brandon Stark), his son Edmure, and, irritably, Petyr - who looks like a drowned rat. Jaime says he does not know House Baelish, Petyr says he imagines there’s much and more the young lord of Lannister does not know - earning an abrupt dismissal by Lord Hoster to go clean himself up
Opening 👏 creds 👏
Meanwhile: Casterly Rock, where Tywin Lannister is hosting a tourney in celebration of Prince Viserys’ first name day. Rhaegar Targ (18) is in concert, playing a sad song on his lil harp. A young Cersei (11) weeps in the audience; her friend Melara teasingly nudges her - Cersei elbows back a little sharper, embarrassed. She casts a hopeful glance to Tywin Lannister, who sits nearby: Tywin returns her looks and nods
Tywin turns to King Aerys, sat beside him, and tries to say something; however Aerys is deep in conversation with one Steffon Baratheon, making a point to ignore his Hand. Meanwhile in the background: cameo from Tyrion Lannister (4), looking bored as hell
The tourney itself: standard scenes of men playing w sticks, concluding in a final face-off between Rhaegar and Arthur. Reminiscent of their first match in ep3, they charge, and Rhaegar wins this time - he’s at the top of his game. Arthur looks entirely unperturbed by his loss, and celebrates Rhaegar with the crowd. Aerys in the background, clutching Viserys like some kind of comfort blanket
Evening, in the Vale with Ned (14) and Robert (16). The two friends are walking down the streets of a nearby town. Entering what’s not quite a brothel, more like a seedy pub, Robert tells Ned he should have his first woman tonight. Ned declines despite Robert’s teasing, but Robert, undeterred, finds a girl for himself. Ned sits awkwardly with a pint of ale whilst Robert sits with a girl in his lap, and asks Ned if Lyanna’s anything like this one?? Ned makes no comment
Cersei and Melara, feeling v giggly and excitable, are sneaking out for their own excursion into the night, to meet Maggy thee Frog. They make their way through Lannisport and vanish into a dark wood on the perimeter
Aerys, in the gallery at the Rock. Aerys is looking upon a portrait of Joanna, and looks irritated to have been interrupted when Tywin approaches. Aerys notes that Cersei looks a great deal like Joanna; Tywin agrees this is true. Carefully, he suggests that they might announce a betrothal between Rhaegar and Cersei - we get the impression that Tywin has raised this many times, and now seeks a final answer. Aerys gives him one, and says that he has no intention of marrying his son to his servant’s daughter. On Tywin, who’s really this close to starting a job search on linkedin
Meanwhile: Cers & Melara. They find Maggy’s tent, and that whole thing happens with Cers getting her horrible little prophecy idk we know how it goes. Subsequently, Cersei trying to hold it together as they leave, and Melara attempting to laugh it all off. They enter a clearing with a well in the midst (!!!!), and Melara tries to console Cersei - a prophecy can’t come true if no-one speaks of it!! Cersei looks up - cogs turning behind her eyes. And anyway, says Melara, she knows she’s going to marry Jaime, so Maggy really is just a stupid old - oh shit Cersei has pushed her down a fucking well!!! I would say Cersei’s crime wiki starts here but well. there was that shit with Tyrion already
Melara screaming at the bottom of the well. Cersei looks as though she can’t quite believe what she’s just done. For a long moment she stands leaning over the edge, looking silently down at the desperate Melara, who begs her for help. Cersei lowers to the ground, leaning against the side of the well - she needs to sit with this for a bit
Ned, leading a drunken Robert back to the Eyrie. He looks annoyed with his friend, like he’s done this before, but this time it’s worse. Then Robert says something to make Ned laugh, and Ned struggles not to smile
Back with Cersei. It’s dawn - she’s somehow fallen asleep at the side of the well. She looks back over the edge: Melara is wide awake, still trying to call, but her voice is shaky and hoarse. Cersei looks down at her for a long moment, and then departs; we hear Melara croaking in dismay
Cersei sneaks back inside Casterly Rock, using some weird connection of tunnels idk. She enters her bedchamber, dresses down and climbs into bed
At Riverrun: Jaime walking with Catelyn and Lysa in the castle gardens, blathering on about swords and squiring. Lysa attempts an interesting comment on the subject, but it doesn’t seem to register with Jaime; Catelyn gives her sister an apologetic smile, and rolls her eyes sympathetically
Back with Cersei once more, on her way to breakfast with Genna; Genna notes that her niece looks tired lol. And then, unfortunately, she must break some bad news: King Aerys has turned down Tywin’s proposition, and will not marry her to Rhaegar after all. Cersei breaks down on the spot, but Genna wills her to stop her tears, and look strong when they present themselves, show the Prince what he’s missing. Cers puts on a brave face as she enters the hall, but catching sight of Tyrion sat with their uncles, some of the façade falls away
Riverrun once more, at table: Jaime is pestering Brynden Tully for stories, Lysa is looking dejected at his side. Hoster suggests that Brynden might have duties away from the table, which Brynden happy latches onto and makes a departure. A disappointed Jaime decides to attempt conversation with Catelyn instead; Lysa looks close to tears, and asks Hoster if they might invite Petyr to table. Hoster like. no lol
A feast at the Rock. Aerys holds up Prince Viserys for everyone to applaud him: Viserys like :-|
Aerys makes an announcement!! Rhaegar is long overdue a betrothal! Tywin and Cersei actually look hopeful for a minute before Aerys goes on to say that he’ll be sending his old friend Steffon Baratheon (little wave from Steffon) across the Narrow Sea to find the most eligible woman for their future queen. nice. ASOS; Steel and Snow: 10 DAVOS II (pages 133-145)
Davos reunites with Salladhor Saan, who catches him up on the post battle report, then Davos heads off to see Stannis and Kill Melisandre, only to find himself arrested by the queen's men before he can do either.
-
The great fire that burned atop the Sharp Point watchtower at the end of Massey's Hook reminded him of the ruby she wore at her throat, and when the world turned red at dawn and sunset the drifting clouds turned the same color as the silks and satins of her rustling gowns.
ruby = 🥛
He insisted that Davos share his provisions as well, though that turned out badly. His stomach could not tolerate the snails and lampreys and other rich food Captain Khorane so relished, and after his first meal at the captain's table he spent the rest of the day with one end or the other dangling over the rail.
I am so glad D&D weren't allowed to get their hands on this scene, they would have made it "haha, look a poop joke, lol, so random"
Davos is so freaking lucky he didn't end up with refeeding syndrome and die. He's had basically nothing but a few raw tiny crabs for several days.
That was before the onion ship, before Storm's End, before Stannis shortened my fingers.
Actually, while he's bringing it up, cause, Davos kept his fingerbones in a pouch around his neck to remind him of Stannis' justice, that there was mercy, fairness, but it was still upheld.
But he lost those bones during the Battle of Blackwater. He mentioned it in his last chapter.
I wonder if that's GRRM's way of saying "this is the point that starts going. Here is where we're going to see Stannis has crossed a line and he can't come back from this anymore. That Stannis no longer exists."
Or if this is the point from which Davos realises that Stannis is gone.
(because obviously, using magic to create shadow babysassins is definitely a line crossed, or the slippery slope he falls from.)
... I like Salladhor Saan. It feels like he and Davos are genuinely some kind of friends, that there's real concern and care for Davos in Salla's fussing for his health, and not just some manipulation. Of course he wouldn't say no is Davos went looking for new employ, though.
... well done to this gate guard. He'd do well at a bottle-shop. Customer: *is clearly 60+* Guard: can I see some ID? No, but seriously, good on him for not trusting someone who is claiming to be someone all but confirmed dead. He would not be fooled by a vampire pretending to be the Avon lady.
...SHIREEN!!! hi sweetie.
Hopping from foot to the other, he sang, "Fool's blood, king's blood, blood on the maiden's thigh, but chains for the guests and chains for the bridegroom, aye aye aye."
Hmmm, prophecy or nonsense? Clearly ("bridegroom") about a wedding, but which?
Sansa and Tyrion's? Fool's blood, king's blood could mean Tyrion, he is of Joffrey's blood, thus king's blood, but he's treated like he's not a true member of the bloodline by his father, like fool's gold...
blood on the maiden's thigh could mean Sansa's newly 'blossomed' status.
And it is an act made to chain the couple to Tywin and Cersei's will.
Or I might be reaching and it could be about one of the other fun (sarcasm) weddings lined up.
... !!!! EDRIC!!!! He's alive!!! ... for now... Melisandre! Stay away from the small child!
...Ummmm, just to... Does Gendry in the show, by chance, take up a role that belongs to Edric in the books? Like, say... a sacrificial one? Or does he just also have sacrificial purposes?
It'll be interesting to see, because Edric was cut from the show, so I don't know if he was cut completely, or if his story lines were passed off piecemeal to someone else. (Like how Jeyne had a cameo in the pilot but then was erased until D&D gave her plot-line to Sansa because they can't write political intrigue without someone smart holding their hand/writing it for them.)
"Ser Davos, and undrowned. How can that be?" "Onions float, ser. -"
Ehehehehe.
"- Have you come to take me to the king?" "I have come to take you to the dungeon." Ser Axell waved his men forward. "Seize him, and take his dirk. He means to use it on our lady."
Ah. bugger.

Same anon new topic. Do you think there were hints through the series of Sansa being Queen? I heard somewhere that the writers didn’t know till like season 3 or so. I felt out of all the characters, D&D honestly had no idea how effectively write/ translate Sansa from page to screen. Like they literally gave her a non pov character story line for a whole season passing over her political story in the vale!?
Hey, Nonnie! Oooo, that is a very good question.
I have to be honest, I had no idea that she was going to be Queen in the end. I honestly thought she would remain as Lady of Winterfell at the very least, and depending on how the ending went, be named as Wardeness of the North. I never expected her to have anything higher than that because of the whole IT thing, and the fact that I think this would have been enough for her (depending on who was sitting on the IT in the end and how safe she, the Starks, and the North were), and it would have been in line with her goals: safety, her family being safe once again, Winterfell, and the North. But then again, I also didn't expect that Robb or Jon would be named King in the North either tbh.
So upon first watch, I had no clue. I knew they were showing her as a contrast to Dany and Cersei (and Margaery before the Sept scene), and I knew they strongly hinted at her learning from each queen as the seasons progressed from her hairstyles to certain costuming decisions. But I never had any idea that she would be crowned in the end. Because she didn't really want power, not really. Only enough power to keep herself and her family safe, to maintain their position in the North so her enemies couldn't come for her or for them. So it was a very pleasant surprise when we got that moment in the finale. I have never been prouder of my girl! I was right there with Arya:
Tumblr media
That was literally me when it happened LOL.
I'm surprised to hear that they knew back in season 3. To me, that indicates that her show ending may be akin to what GRRM wants to accomplish with her story in the books. I don't mean it will end in the exact same way, but that she is important to the ending of the series.
As for D&D knowing what to do with her, I don't know to be honest. I think they made a lot of adaptation decisions that, though tbf I'm not 100% educated on this topic enough to form a full opinion (I've only read up to Book 2 so far), that didn't make sense. I got the whole Lady Stoneheart thing, even Griff and Harry Hardyng, but why didn't we get Val or Dacey Mormont or other characters of the books that should have been included? Even if they just got a cameo at the very least? And like you said, Sansa's whole political story in the Vale got reduced to what we saw on screen. Even Dany's Mhysa Is Master story line got reduced in season 5 (from what I understand by seeing others' posts about it). I really wish I could pick D&D's and the writers' brains about it because to me, it doesn't make sense. Was it due to adaptation? Time limits? Budget constraints? What?
So I think, in some ways, they did know what to do with Sansa (like you said, they knew around season 3 or so what her endgame was going to be) but I think the theme that ended up playing out in certain seasons was the same as what happened in season 8. While D&D were masterful at crafting several different storylines and weaving them all together, sometimes they would converge (like Dany & Jon's for example, or Tyrion's & Jon's), or they would run alongside each other but constantly mirror particularly well (like Jon & Sansa's parallels, or Robb & Jon, or Sansa's, Cersei's, and Dany's, or Ned's, Jon's, and Sansa's, or even Jon's, Arya's, Sansa's and Bran's), they always seemed to pick their top storylines of the season and letting the others that maybe weren't as important to that season's major events fall to the wayside or at the very least be put on the back burner. With season 8, we saw Dany's story line swallow up everyone else's, to the point where it felt majorly out of place and we didn't get fully played out endings for other characters to make sense with their arcs or just them as characters. Because they wanted to focus on the Jonerys angle, Dany's descent and the destruction of KL, the love triangle (though they never officially called it that for whatever reason), and the NK battle (though the battle only took 1 episode which was strange in itself but they were aiming to be the Helms Deep battle of TV so guaranteed that's why). So even though we got Cersei's storyline, Jaime's, Sansa's, etc, the rest of it took a backseat. So if say Sansa's Vale storyline wasn't as important to them (or due to adaptation), that could be why that happened.
I do tend to agree with you a bit, though. D&D tended to write her story a lot better once Winterfell/Jon came into play. It felt like they finally picked her up off of the shelf and dusted her off. Most likely due to the fact that they were honing in on the endgame, which for her they might have figured out in season 3, but everyone else they started planning for near the end of season 6's production I think they said.
Now when I go back and rewatch, I absolutely see the tells they're talking about. Like the whole bells contrast she has with Cersei and Dany. Her list of contrasts she has to Dany (like what happened when they were born), not only with Jon, but also as rulers themselves. How we got to see her operate once she had power in her hands in Winterfell (and I'm convinced this is why she was so respected by the time Jon and Dany came North; this is why it makes me laugh every time Sansa haters say she was power hungry) and what goal she worked towards. How she learned from all 3 queens (Cersei, Margaery, and Dany). Even right down to the physical direction they were given. To her standing up to Joffrey in this one moment. All of it. And it absolutely makes sense now with the lead up to her endgame. But sadly, I hadn't seen it before. But yes, I definitely do think there were hints along the way. =)
I hope I was able to fully answer your question, Nonnie! Hope you have a wonderful rest of your night!!! <3

Why Did They Change Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon?
Tumblr media
House of the Dragon is an American tv show which is a prequel to the highly popular Game of Thrones. We all had complaints about the ending of the Game of Thrones, but this is not why we are here today. The question here is, why did they recast Rhaenyra Targaryen? In case you are new to the show, it is based on Fire & Blood book by George R. R. Martin. The television show is written by George R. R. Martin, Ryan Condal, Sara Hess, and Charmaine DeGraté. House of the Dragon is set 200 years prior to the Game of Thrones storyline, so if you are expecting any future cameo of Jon Snow or Tyrion, drop it, it is not going to happen! Who Plays Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of The Dragon? Milly Alcock plays the character of Rhaenyra Targaryen in the House of the Dragon up till episode 5, but when the sixth episode featuring Rhaenyra Targaryen aired, fans were in for quite a bit of a shock as the person portraying Rhaenyra was supposed to be Milly Alcock, to the shock, she was replaced by Emma D'Arcy. In case you do not know Emma D'Arcy, she is the star of Truth Seekers, which aired in October 2020. With six episodes already aired, there are a total of four episodes remaining before the first season of House of The Dragon concludes. It is worth noting that the show is already renewed for a second season. Was Milly Alcock fired? What went down? From what we know, she was not fired; Milly herself was aware of it that she would only appear and play Rhaenyra in a few episodes. Now, here is why they recast Rhaenyra Targaryen. House of The Dragon: Why Did They Recast Rhaenyra Targaryen? The reason behind the change of the character was the time skip in the House of The Dragon series in the 6th episode. Princess Rhaenyra is not a teenager anymore, and it would be unwise if Milly Alcock was still playing Rhaenyra as an adult. This is why Rhaenyra Targaryen was recast as Emma D'Arcy. She is not the only person who is recast; as the show goes, there will be more time skips, and we will see more recasts. This cast change was needed in order to convey the story more accurately and also needed the actors to portray the characters more accurately; hence the production team had to recast Rhaenyra's character in the show. After episode 6, the House of the Dragon shows the Targaryen war, also known as 'The Dance of the Dragons'. When this war happens, Rhaenyra Targaryen's character reaches adulthood and is no longer a child and teenager. Where to watch House of The Dragon? House of The Dragon can be watched on HBO Max online, and if you are not in the USA and you do not have access to HBO Max, your best bet is Disney+. They have the House of The Dragon series airing every week in many countries. Read the full article

Since Blake takes on the roles of Adam and Tyrion, will her mental health deteriorate over the course of the story? And if so, is Adam's cameo possible as Since Blake takes on the roles of Adam and Tyrion, will her mental health deteriorate over the course of the story? And if so, is Adam's cameo possible as a hallucination?a hallucination?
First of all, Blake does not fill Adam's role. Adam's role is to be a personal antagonist to one of the main characters, to be defeated to show character development. In this AU, that would be someone from Tyrian's past. Blake instead fills Tyrian's role. She is one of the main antagonists and works directly for and is the most "loyal" to the big bad.
Also, can I ask you what the point of that would be? One of the villains in this show who only shows up for the occasional series of episodes, has hallucinations of a character none of the main characters or the audience would know or care about? A character who would only take away from the few moments trying to establish Blake as her own character. Can you imagine if half of Tyrian's screen time was dedicated to a random woman saying vague things related to a backstory that doesn't even relate to working with Salem? Also, why would I suddenly give Blake a legitimate psychosis the moment she becomes a villain when I can simply explore what would make her a good villain already.
Blake has worked for an terrorist organisation. Blake has let fear control her life. Through her trauma, Blake has lost a lot of her previous expressiveness, but still has a sense of humour. I'd prefer to take those already-existing traits and exaggerate them to the point of villainy rather than making her story all about a man who would barely be a footnote in this AU.
So, all in all, I don't like it when people ask me about Adam in this AU. My story is about WTCH as focal characters. I don't like it when people try and cram a character into the spotlight when honestly he's already given too much attention over the character he's only a stepping stone to.

I know this is a bit of a leap of logic here to Jonsa from this tidbit but hear me out:
- Season 7 portrays Jon as being protective of Sansa, getting triggered whenever her name is mentioned.  I’m going to assume they meant for this to be in the story whether Arya died or not.
- In the series finale, Jon Snow is reminded of Sansa by Arya, Tyrion reminds Jon of his sisters, and Daenerys says “You don’t get to choose” (which Jon said referring to Sansa) right before he stabs
- The explanation is that Jon Snow kills Daenerys to protect his sisters. Which yes.  But Sansa is the one with the beef with Dany and has that protective relationship with Jon.
So keeping all this in mind, now remove Arya out of the picture.  The one emotional Stark connection left is Sansa.  The one Stark who has openly disagreed with Daenerys (or look like she disagreed anyway) is Sansa.  So how could you not tell me that his killing Dany won’t be about Sansa?
Bran is certainly a factor but there is no emotional setup with Jon in the final seasons building to that moment.

Corruption!" the man cried shrilly. "There is the warning! Behold the Father's scourge!" He pointed at the fuzzy red wound in the sky. From this vantage, the distant castle on Aegon's High Hill was directly behind him, with the comet hanging forebodingly over its towers. A clever choice of stage, Tyrion reflected.A Clash of Kings - Chapter 17 - Tyrion
Tyrion travels back to the Red Keep. On his way through Cobbler's Square, he sees a prophet preaching about the corruption of the royal family, including a certain monkey demon.
Once again this was a great chance to show the scale of King's Landing, and just how crowded it is. In the process, I couldn't resist putting in a little cameo.

This is the OTHER gift fic I received in the Jaime/Brienne fic exchange! Somehow LadyRhi managed to hit every Jaime-as-musician kink I did and didn’t know I had. She built a wild, rich world and gave them a love story that started with heat and ended with sweet. I utterly adore this story.

Live
La complessità del vivere quotidiano
Tumblr media
Chi pensa ciò è in grave errore.
Ergo, grandi applausi e onori.

Everything I Can Reasonably Surmise About the GOT Finale
Disclaimer: Discussion of leaks, casting, and fantheorying follows. I neither completely trust nor distrust the leaks. Many of the leaks have ended up coming true, but I sincerely doubt that they are all 100% true. I’ll wager 90% true, but would love to be wrong. Some of the leaks for 8x05 sounded worse out of context (imo they’re still pretty bad--but, for example, the bells didn’t make Dany go mad they just represented a decision she was about to make--according to commentary it was the sight of the Red Keep and what it represented to Dany that pushed her off the edge, but--).
Anyhow, let’s jump into it:
What They Have To Squeeze In the 80 Minute Time Slot
-Tyrion’s reaction to Jaime and Cersei’s deaths
-Davos’ reaction to Daenerys
-Tyrion’s reaction to Daenerys
-Jon’s reaction to Daenerys
-Arya’s reaction to Daenerys
-Something with Sansa (I really would not be surprised if this Mad!Dany demanded a trial, or said something sinister to Jon about Sansa--but Sansa is weeks away and I can’t see them rushing up there to take care of a hasty trial anytime soon)
-Daenerys’ reaction to Tyrion’s actions
-Brienne’s reaction to Jaime’s fate
-Whatever the heck Dany’s armies are going to do after Dany’s fate is decided
-Bronn (dunno what interesting thing he could do though--gosh, his whole sub-plot this season really was a throwaway huh...) (Please don’t give him High Garden)
-Bran (man I wish being a Three-Eyed Raven meant more to the showrunners --the amount of lore-related plots we could have had)
-Samwell (he’ll probably just be a cameo, sadly)
-Gendry (whether he takes Storm’s End or not, reunites with Arya or not)
-Epilogue for all surviving characters
Who We Haven’t Seen Yet
The leaks haven’t mentioned characters that have been confirmed with cast listings:
Edmure Tully
Robin Arryn
The New Prince of Dorne
Could they simply be cameos? Possibly. But the leak that mentions a council consisting of Bronn just sounds...look, I can’t put it past the showrunners, but if there IS a council, my money is on Tully and/or the Prince of Dorne being included over Bronn.
The Fate of Tyrion
If the leaks are to be believed, Tyrion will be put on trial, probably survive (I’m actually 76% sure he’ll survive), and then become part of some sort of ruling council. I think his ending could have been so much more, but they dumbed down his character arc and watered down his character so much I just can’t see them pulling off anything more nuanced than that. The best I can hope for is a thematically satisfying marriage with Sansa, or hints at their being together--and I truly mean that from both a shipping AND non-shipping perspective. Having a Stark and Lannister willingly come together, having two characters who have long dreamed of romance and suffered from abusive relationships, wow, it would just be--it would actually be something of lasting substance I could take away from this show.
Until then, there’s always the books.
The Fate of Jon & Dany
I will be the first to admit--I can’t believe that the Dany Going Mad arc actually made me...well, I never really supported Dany, but wow did I emphasize with her in this season. I think she’s going to experience a descent arc in the books too, but I think it will be a heckuva a lot more complex, Shakespearian, well-earned, and dare-I-say human in the books.
That said, I’m almost 100% sure Dany will die. The only other scenario I could see...geez, I dunno, losing her last dragon and going into exile? A death could at least be poetic, thematic. It’s possible they’ll give her a spark of humanity before that. It’s too bad we’ll never get her reaction to the old dragon skulls or other haunts of the Red Keep, since they were destroyed.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they showed her in a vision with Khal Drogo and her son--harking back to her vision of the Iron Throne covered in ash, a throne she never touches whilst she goes through another door and towards her family.
Jon will probably kill her. Man, I feel bad for Jon. I feel bad for Kit Harington. He did NOT have to be this sidelined and one-dimensional of a character. Why on earth did D&D take “good guys will always be duped by their good intentions” away from Ned’s death, and then apply that to Jon and Tyrion? Ned meant so much more than that. Jon was supposed to be Ned 2.0, in my opinion, and Tyrion is probably meant to be Tywin 2.0.--but when I say 2.0, I really mean “what those characters SHOULD/COULD have been.” Taking the best elements, learning from their mistakes, and, while making new mistakes, striving to incorporate all of the foils and flaws and make the best of it.
Which is a theme at the heart of GRRM’s books. Making the best of our own vice and virtue, no matter the personal cost.
The Fate of Jaime
Look, I don’t want to get everyone’s hopes up. Jaime’s dead, right?
The only reason I bring that up as a question is because they supposedly filmed on location for Brienne’s homeland and supposedly Coster-Waldau was seen there and supposedly Coster-Waldau was paid to appear in all six episodes.
It would be somewhat cheap to bring back Jaime Lannister back from two stabs and the entire crushing weight of the Red Keep.
No, it really wouldn’t make sense. Doesn’t mean they might not pull that out of the hat though. I don’t know why, but because I see a 2% chance of silly plot armor plot twist, I’ll include this.
Bran As King?
I know, I know, it’s a lackluster ending. I can sorta see the in-universe logic here, though, and I can point out at least a few inklings of foreshadowing that Season 8 has given us thus far:
If the Bran as King is true, I think THIS was the point of Tyrion and Bran having two significantly framed scenes together this season.
Tyrion will be one of the key players deciding on who takes the throne after, I only assume, Dany is taken out. Tyrion now knows Bran’s entire story. He’s vouched for Bran and cared for him since he was a boy--telling him that his life would not be limited by his disability, for the most part. He made him a saddle to help him continue living his life. He took the time to see Bran as a human being--something even Bran himself is incapable of these days. Then, they had their second chat, after the Long Night.
I think they’re going to establish that Bran having an insane amount of knowledge/the literal memory of all of Westeros + he can’t desire anything (good or bad) + he doesn’t want to rule (WHY DOES THIS MAKE A GREAT CRITERIA) = best choice. Which, um, again still leaves us with the heir-to-the-throne situation.
On the plus side, if Bran were king, even if he had no heirs, it would still guarantee a Stark to inherit the throne. Specifically, Sansa’s child, because of her place in the family tree. Which means it only makes more sense for Sansa to get married/implications of being married, but see below for my thoughts on that.
Of course, the other possibility is they introduce a quasi-Republic system or slap a little Magna Carta on the side.
Or the leak is wrong. Time will tell.
Romance
I actually don’t have a hard time believing that Arya and Gendry will reunite. They’ve at least set up Arya’s character for a moment like that: Arya, finally given permission via the Hound to turn back from a life of vengeance, Arya who inexplicably survived an entire city falling to pieces around her, Arya who also witnessed the horror that Daenerys released in a supposed rage of “this is what happens to people who mess with my family.” Yeah. I could see Arya now running to embrace life head-on and she and Gendry being the ones to continue on the Stark line.
BUT.
That doesn’t mean that Arya should be the only Stark who gets an S.O. and a new lease on life and the ability to carry on the Stark line.
The possibility of platonic Sanrion is strong. The possibility of romantic Sanrion is just that--a possibility. Again, I simply can’t trust the showrunners to follow up on their extremely vague hints regarding Sansa and Tyrion.
But it’s like Peter Dinklage once said: when it comes to Sansa and Tyrion, “...there’s just something you can’t put your finger on about them.”
The leaks say that Sansa rules Winterfell alone. Nope, I don’t agree with that as a satisfactory conclusion to her arc. Doesn’t mean it won’t be portrayed that way, but I have no trouble believing she’ll have a much richer ending in the books. Ned himself said she would be with someone kind, gentle, and strong. Yes, Sansa is strong on her own. But ‘aloneness’ goes against the Stark motto: the pack survives.
Sansa and Tyrion make sense on MULTIPLE levels, but frankly I don’t expect levels from GOT. I don’t even feel anti towards D&D: I’m simply unhappy, disappointed, and yes, still holding out for at least some sense of closure from the finale. If they manage to pull Sanrion through, I would be happy not just from a rose-glasses perspective of a shipper--it would be something that thematically makes sense and fulfills so many parallels:
The War of the Roses parallel (uniting two warring families together)
The Florian & Jonquil parallel (a story from the ASOIAF universe; some have thought this applied to Sandor, a knight, or to Sansa’s misplaced trust in Dontos, a fool. But Tyrion embodies the archetypes of the knight and the fool and rescues Sansa time and time again; he is also, like Florian, not stereotypically handsome)
The Beauty & the Beast parallel (Martin has only explicitly stated that Braime are supposed to be a Beauty & the Beast story, but with Tyrion being a Lannister bro as well and also having toxic love vs. healthy love as one of his struggles, I see no problem in Jaime and Tyrion both sharing a twist on this trope)
Simply the fact that both characters are intellectual politicians who were able to make the best of an awful situation and vouch for one another when they didn’t have to.
She could provide the heir that will inherit after Bran (if Bran becomes king) [theoretically, if we assume that Sansa does not get married and that Arya and Gendry have kids, Arya’s kids could still inherit, but, um, whatever I like Sansa’s kids inheriting mmkay].
Anyhow, that’s all I’ve got for now!

“Yes, milady,” he nods, hoping that the playful title would suffice for whoever this young woman is. “Don’t call me milady,” the woman frowns. Apparently not. “My name is Arya, and I’m here to see Cersei Lannister. My family’s corporation is considering a business deal with Iron Throne Enterprises.” “I’m afraid she’s busy mila-” Gendry cuts himself off before the title slips, but it doesn’t go unnoticed. “Well I’m afraid, Mr. Baratheon,” Arya replies, with slightly more bite to her words, seeming to relish in the jolt of surprise in Gendry’s eyes when she calls him by his last name. A name he certainly hadn’t told her. “I have an urgent matter to discuss with Ms. Lannister.” “I can pass a message along?” Gendry nearly pinches himself to make sure he’s awake, because there’s absolutely no way that he’s watching the steam and ashes of the forge condense into a coronet over Arya’s head. “Tell her,” she says, her eyes flashing and her voice ringing with an echo that should be impossible for a space this large, “That the price of heaven will pay for her voyage to hell.”

Joining the Game Late: S4E7 “Mockingbird”
Synopsis
It’s a three act play between Tyrion and his prospective champions - Jaime’s handicapped and Bronn’s been bribed, but good thing Oberyn’s still got that revenge motivation. The Mountain looks different every time we see him. The Hound teaches Arya how to crit. Ser Alister kennels the CGI. Daario gets nude for Dany, but his ass shot cuts to topless Melisandre to preserve the delicacy of the straight male gaze. Melisandre gets cynical on religion and heavy on the foreshadowing. Dany orders a citywide hit but backs down because Jorah is the only one around not thinking with his genitals...much, anyway. The Hound opens up about his fear of fire, and Brienne and Podrick stop in at the only inn in Westeros where Hot Pie helps them piece together the plot. Oberyn tells Tyrion about what was either Cersei’s first murder attempt or her first time playing with one of her brother’s dicks - could go either way. Sansa is unreasonably good at building snow castles, but her relatives are deranged and Littlefinger is a projecting pervert. He also makes Lysa Arryn fly.
Commentary
I checked the wiki; this episode marks the introduction of the third actor to play the Mountain. It’s barely a speaking role so it’s not all that noticeable, but still.
Although this hour branches out considerably after the trial of the last one, Tyrion is still solidly at its heart. Jaime, Bronn, and Oberyn each visit his cell in turn over the course of the episode and work out why they will or will not champion Tyrion against the Mountain in his trial by combat. The structure here is very deliberate, but it’s still effective. Jaime and Bronn’s rejections, understandable though they are, still sting, and it’s hard to forget that Oberyn agrees to fight less for Tyrion’s sake and more for his own revenge. My favorite bit from these scenes might be a moment from near the end of the conversation with Bronn. Bronn has never been a character who’s interested me as much more than a source of occasionally good humor, but when he flatly tells Tyrion that he’s always valued Bronn because he’s an amoral bastard with no loyalty but to himself it’s both funny and strangely poignant. Of the various odd couple arrangements on GoT so far, this one might be my favorite because of just how odd but still functional they’ve been together.
The title of this episode and its climax, on the other hand, I’m less sure about as a whole. It’s not that Littlefinger is any less devious and frankly creepy than he’s ever been, more than the death of Lysa should have had a ton of impact (pun intended?) and yet...it kind of didn’t? She murdered her husband to jump start the plot of the series just so she could be with Littlefinger, and then in these two episodes she’s been reintroduced as this barely sane evil matriarch figure who’s left her son emotionally stunted and is willing to injure or kill her niece out of paranoid jealousy. Even so, she’s had remarkable little presence even in the episodes in which she appears both here and back in Season 1, such that Littlefinger shoving her out the Moon Door is more a piece of his own character arc than the death of a major antagonist or even the death of a member of the extended Stark family as Lysa technically is. Hard to develop that familial bond when you’re convinced your niece is sleeping with your man, I know, but this plot took five episodes to reach the Eyrie and just like that it seems to be over for all practical purposes. I wonder if Robin will ever appear again in any significant capacity, or if he’ll be nothing more than a cameo if he does appear. As for Littlefinger, as much as this episode represents a culmination when he kisses Sansa and then murders her aunt it pales in comparison to some of his previous showings, including his monologue to Sansa on the ship from earlier in the season.
Not much to add about Dany getting some from Daario or the quick slide into unrelated female nudity immediately afterward, but I don’t really understand why the show continues to play coy with Stannis and co.’s new destination this whole season when the last one ended with it clearly laid out. Were we supposed to forget that bit? It’s kind of hard to when so much foreshadowing in his story gets delivered via religious flame-gazing.

Had a good laugh
I re-watched episode 4, and when Varys said to Tyrion that his loyalties are to the realm and to the people, I almost choked on my coffee. Idk why I didn’t have such a reaction first time, but it seems that I was very concerned for how they will fuck up Daenerys and Jon.
Seriously? This fucker served THE MAD KING. He whispered the names, and Aerys burned people alive. He ratted out Rhaegar was planning something at tourney. He advised against Pycelle not to open the gates to Lannisters, so his loyalties were with the Mad King. What part of Aerys ll was good for the realm? Holy shit why tf Tyrion didn’t call him on such an obvious hypocrisy. In the books it’s even more telling, when Kevan starts to mend the rift within the kingdoms, Varys fucking kills him, because he needs chaos for Aegon to conquer 7K. This dude doesn’t give a single fuck about people.
Setting aside the absolutely ridiculous claim about how Dany and Jon cannot marry because of the plot, the best way to get into the supposed new king good graces is to backstab the woman he loves. Great plan, what can go wrong?
Daenerys wasn’t my favorite character in the show and in the books. But holy shit, showrunners try to make her look insane and mad so hard that I cannot help but root for her with all my heart. This is fucking war, of course innocent people will die. This pair of Dany’s advisors are about as fucking great as D&D. Should have played their characters as a cameo. Let’s fucking starve people you know, and wait for them to put Cersei on the spike. Because you know, dying from hunger is the best and most humane way to go. And it’s not like they have a fleet or something so that they can resupply in Essos.
I just wonder, whose idea was to make most iconic female lead on TV that inspired thousands of people into a cartoonish mad villain, diregarding all of the previous storylines. Martin literally talks about it several times, why tf  couldn’t they listen

who are your favorite characters to write! most challenging ones to write?
My favorite characters to write are Sansa and Arya, though I also really love Margaery.  As for most challenging, I have a really tough time writing canon!Bran, Tyrion, and Littlefinger.  But I also don’t really care about Tyrion and Littlefinger in canon so that’s probably why they don’t pop up in my stories that much except as mentions or brief cameos.
