Prompt 60
Danny would like everyone to know that this was not his fault. It’s not his fault that another amulet got lost in the human realm (thank you Aragon, he hates you for this) nor is it his fault it’s been broken! He was just going to take it from the museum and was both invisible and intangible! It’s not his fault another thief got there first alongside a vigilante and they panicked when seeing the amulet started floating. It is so not his fault that there is now an entire city of dragon… dragon shifters… whatever! And it’s not his fault he’s stuck as a baby dragon right where the the amulet shattered, which leads to misunderstandings. How was he supposed to know this wasn’t his world and the english isn’t the same?!

As someone knowledgeable about MMOs, and given the topic of SAO just came up. If you were to write a .Hack/SAO/Log Horizon style story, what kind of things would you focus on? I personally feel like there are a lot of different elements of MMO culture anyone writing about them could really delve into. So I'm curious what Tumblr user Toskarin would choose.
condensed
back when I played Perfect World, it had some empty spaces. this wasn't uncommon for mmos, and if you can name one older than 15 or so years, you can bet there were vast empty spaces on the world map that existed to pad it
but they were important! sure, they added nothing of obvious value and could cynically be read as existing just to pad travel time, but they also made the worlds feel bigger than you what you were doing in them. and more mysterious.
some friends in my guild and I got a message one day that one member was going to roll a new character and wanted help levelling. a complication: their starting zone was across the sea.
a few friends and I volunteered to swim across the sea to their zone. there were definitely easier ways to go about it, but setting out to do something just to see if it was possible seemed fun
now, they may have changed this since then, but the sea in Perfect World felt strange in a way I haven't seen any game really emulate since. the sky was a dull, and as was the fashion, everything was a bit muted. the sea itself was opaque, and when you swam under it, there was a significant amount of grey-blue terrain that seemed to stretch on forever into the fog
and of course, there was fuck all in it. nothing alive. no monsters until you got close to a shore. just vast empty sea that you swam through, only your friends' characters to break up the odd stillness of it. you probably turned the music off at this point, too, so there was only ambient sound and splashing
this is because you were supposed to fly over it, if you crossed it at all. and because there wasn't really a good centralised source of knowledge on these things, it wasn't really clear if it was entirely empty
the trip there was fine, if a bit boring and lonely. during the trip back, I accidentally clicked on something in the middle of the ocean
now, there weren't supposed to be things there. I had my friends, but I clicked on a monster, and when I swam down to look at it, I saw that it was actually an enormous sea monster
so I pinged one of the guildmates swimming with me and they thought I was lying, so I showed them, and then we repeated this several times until everyone in the group had seen this weird thing that felt like it came from a schoolyard rumour
Tumblr media
Ancient Sea Dragon. 99,999,999 health points and none of us could find anything on it posted online. it was pretty common for players to run into it and be shocked, but we didn't know that
so we naturally let the rest of the guild know, got a hunting party together, and spent the better part of a day just whittling its health down
with the benefit of hindsight and documentation of this thing existing now, I can spoil this and tell you it didn't drop anything, but this long down the line, I still think about how deeply surreal it felt to stumble on an enormous sea monster in the middle of what my brain had come to understand as a liminal space. the sea was supposed to be mostly empty, and here was this thing
which is a very long way to introduce what I think is lacking here: we need more of those enormous empty spaces that leave characters with nothing to do but talk and feel completely isolated. sometimes you get to a sprawling castle city and it's completely empty because the players moved on. sometimes the devs threw an enormous monster in the middle of nowhere just to fuck with you, and that was kind of cool even if it sucked

Lancer RPG
pfft, your mech is your dead mom's soul? well MY mech is co-piloted by Cthulhu!
Touchstones: Armored Core, General Mech Media
Genre: Mecha, Tactics game
What is this game?: Lancer is a tactical TTRPG focused on mechs, and the folks piloting them, with a sturdy "Gameplay over Realism" mentality to its game design
How's the gameplay?: Lancer is a tactical RPG using primarily d20s for attack rolls and other problem solving, it's primarily based on the tactical combat rules of Dungeons and Dragons 4th edition, however it is mostly its own thing, with new mechanics, simple but fun character creation, and a high focus on quick and aggressive combat rather than lengthy and Defensive combat. in effect imagine character creation as going to a subway (of mech parts) and picking your ingredients, with a mech's frame being your choice of bread, and combat as an SRPG of your choosing but everyone is in giant mechs
Out of Combat is a bit different, to the point where I didn't even bring it up during my first draft of this! the Out of Combat rules are deliberately bare bones, you can very easily insert straight up a different game in there, or mod it to be something else. But I wouldn't recommend it, as the rules by themselves are 100% useable, fun, and blend into the combat portions pretty easily, Lancer is fully aware of this, and the lack of out of combat depth is partially covered by the KTB book, which gives characters simple out of character skills
What's the setting (If any) like?: Lancer throws you into a world where mankind's either solved, or is close to solving, most of the issues back on earth... too bad we also colonized other planets 10k years ago! Now, while Earth thrives, planets outside of it struggle with poverty, imperialism, dictatorships, and human and non-human rights issues, Earth tries its best to help, but they're stretched very thin. Lancer also has many small details to its setting that are way too in-depth to get into right now, but a major one is the existance of non-human people, eldritch beings strapped to computers in order to create effective and fully sentient artificial intelligence
What's the tone?: Lancer's tone is generally speaking, hopeful. Empires are mighty, but there are people fighting, and they will be toppled, mankind's horrors have attempted to wipe out entire species, but survivors remain, and secretly thrive. While there is some doom and gloom and grimdark stuff, especially with how the highly unethical and wicked corporations are treated as necessary evils for enterprising pilots, but overall lancer is a setting where no matter how bad things get, there will always be hope
Session length: A few hours, it depends on how mean your GM is, generally speaking however combat heavy sessions will only run you around 2-3 hours, with RP sprinkled in between
Number of Players: I generally like to recommend around 4 or more, but I'm sure you can do it with less
Malleability: While lancer's mechanics are pretty hardset in its setting, the existance of Beacon RPG and how at its core its very much a Lancer hack does show that Lancer can be hacked into differing settings, a very popular one I've seen is Magical Girl Lancer.
Resources: Lancer's primary resource is Comp/Con, it effectively serves as a do everything tool for lancer, allowing you to manage characters, encounter, and homebrew, while also having a very slick and easy to use UI Lancer also has many pre-made modules, of... varying quality, Siren's song and Solstice rain are pretty good, Wallflower is very good but the encounters are of mixed quality, and it's not great for introducing people to the game in my experience
Homebrew is also fairly popular, new frames, NPC types, Bonds, and modules are all pretty popular, my personal favorite being Field Guide to Suldan and Field Guide to Iridia, I also enjoy Field Guide to Liminal Spaces though that one's a bit on the "Be Very Careful" side
Overall, lancer is effectively THE indie ttrpg, being quality, fun, and affordable, with the core rulebook being 100% free if you just wish to see the player-side content, it's a great time, and everyone who's interested in the indie ttrpg scene should check it out at least once

FINALLY DREW SCAREBEAST (Well- a rough sketch anyways) XD
Tumblr media
I tried tbh but ye, this is how I imagined Scarebeast for my version of Jonathan! I Drew Jonny boy and Danny as a height ref (Though, I accidentally drew Danny shorter than he should be-)
Some quick note rambles.
Danny's gonna be the shortest in the family till he hits 18 where he gets a late growth spurt bringing him up to Jonny boy's height. Fentons have late growth spurts while the Keeny family tends to have their growth spurt early on.
For Jonathan, transforming into the Scarebeast had always been painful. But the longer he remains in contact with Danny especially, the transformation becomes painless due to the ambient ectoplasm the kid generates turning Jonny liminal (Not to the extent of any other Amity Parkers or Jazz (who has the highest liminal level-) but it would take a while- even with Danny being around. Jack and Maddie have grown immune to ambient ectoplasm- doesn't help they have Hazzmat suits on all the time which stopped them from being as exposed-)
Jonny in Scarebeast mode can release its own strain of Fear Toxin. A sort of mix between all the versions Jonathan made of the toxin over the years that he's been exposed to personally (which is all of them- part of the reason why he managed to develop Scarebeast by accident). Not particularly the strongest but its effects can last a lot longer and even when given the antidote, it lingers from a week to even a month.
Jonny cannot fly as Scarebeast. He does like being up in tall places and would climb there, though.
DO NOT LET SCAREBEAST MEET MAN-BAT, IT WILL NOT GO WELL FOR ANYONE. Same goes for Goliath the Dragon Bat or, some of the Clayfaces, and, unsurprisingly by all means, Joker. Get's hostile if Ra's Al Ghul is near but won't outright attack. Scarebeast does get along with Killer Croc though despite not being part of his murder. Scarebeast is rather wary of Bane, Ivy and Mr. Freeze, though.
Scarebeast is very affectionate to the members of its murder when it thinks there is no danger. Might as well be an overgrown cat with mothering tendencies even when it's a crow. Will play fight with Danny when he's in ghost form. This applies to Ellie as well. It will try to fight Jazz when especially bored but doesn't go too hard due to sensing her being human- even if she's liminal.
Likes to lay on top of its murder members, especially Edward. ["I love you Jon but GET OFF MY FACE!" "Krrrrrrrr" "... Guess this is my life now."] Will gift its fallen feathers to them as well.
Some of the hideouts and bases Jonathan has included a huge straw nest somewhere for when he's Scarebeast.

I have not slept more than 5 hours together this whole fucking week and not more than 7 hours a day
It is therefore appropriate today to give you TIM! And TUCKER! All aboard the Lore Drop!
Chapter 14’s nearly fucking done I swear I was waylaid but I think I have solved the problem. Now the new second secret much bigger problem is my intense desire to commit Dragon Age crimes
Soooo chapters will probably stay a lil slower here for a bit, but hopefully not this slow again until June, when I will be Busy As Shit

A Good Excuse To Be A Bad Influence V
It was a weird feeling to have his body shaken while his consciousness was so far from it.
Feeling his face pull into a frown not quite mirroring what he felt it should be. Tucker could never have explained precisely what part of him entered his devices; just that it was him.
Quintessential, pure essence of Too Fine. Everything he was without the meat he was born in.
But then he did have to slot back into that meat, and trying to do that without matching positions always left him feeling weirdly off kilter the next day. Like he’d put on a shirt but the shoulders were skewed too short.
So despite not being conscious of a face on his extended form, Tucker tried to form it into a frown anyway, sliding back under his own skin like a teen sneaking back through a window after curfew.
Hadn’t those been heady days?
Eyes slowly opening, it took Tucker a moment to remember how to focus them. That they weren’t cameras. But then Tim Drake-Wayne came into focus, and the frown changed to a grin even before he fully “woke up”.
“Morning,” he mumbled, rolling and stretching, getting used to the feeling of a body again. It was a little weirder each time, which he might have worried about if he didn’t see himself as an extension of his PDA anyway.
“You were singing in your sleep,” Tim told him without preamble, returning the smile.
Tucker hesitated for a moment, suddenly embarrassed. If… well. If he’d been singing along, that…
Look he’d picked songs that’d embarrass Danny, he wasn’t gonna give a fuck about it. The only actual question was, did he tell Tim?
Who else would ever understand better just what it meant to interact with tech the way he could? Could get excited with him about how cool it was?
He wasn’t fucking gushing to Technus. No way. Tuck was easily the one winning that ongoing hackathon, but it was the principle of the thing.
To the zone with it. Tim knew about Amity Park, he knew about the ghosts and the liminal tech. And while they hadn’t exactly discussed liminal people, it’d come up.
Tim could have a sneak preview. As a treat.
Decision made, Tucker gave the younger man another broad smile because yeah, bragging about your super powers to a very cool and impressive person? That felt good.
Tim might be a vigilante too, but Tucker was pretty sure Jason was the only souped up Robin. Most of the bats were famously power free.
“Oh, yeah. I was bullying Danny,” he explained with a light chuckle, glancing up to find his beloved PDA, Ida. She was half under a blanket now, so he tugged her back out.
Tim chuckled softly, leaning back and stretching himself.
“Good dream?” He asked and Tucker snickered, stroking gently across the screen.
“Danny wishes it was a dream.” Tucker paused, frowning a little at the confusion on Tim’s face. “So you remember we kinda talked about the whole liminal thing?”
That seemed to jog Tim’s memory, confusion fading into an analytical frown that Tucker was already becoming familiar with. That good ol’ geek face.
“The humans with budding ghost powers,” he agreed, and Tucker had to wonder if maybe he just hadn’t put the right pieces together yet.
He hadn’t exactly said that most of Amity Park were liminal, but it was a little hard to remember he had to. Like, they lived on a portal to Hell.
Maybe he shoulda.
Well, at least it was a cool way to introduce it to him.
Tucker pulled Ida into his lap, flipped her over, and tapped the plain plastic backing to demonstrate.
“Mine’s a low level technopathy at the moment,” he explained as the PDA hummed and then began playing… well, still Montero, so he flicked it again and changed it immediately to Country Roads.
Tim was watching him with a kind of hungry fascination, and Tucker turned the music off with a thought, then passed her to Tim so he could check for secret touchpads.
“It’s not something I can do with anything,” he explained with a modest shrug, grinning with pride as Tim immediately got to scanning the casing.
All simple plastic, not even biometrics; what would be the point? Even touching the PDA was pretty much a formality at this point. She was a part of him.
“Technopathy? So you can control it with your mind? Why not with anything?” Tim asked eagerly, hands stroking over the plastic, eyes darting between it and Tucker.
Like he wasn’t sure which was more interesting, Tuck or tech, and Tucker absolutely took that as a compliment.
“It has to be a device I’ve really gotten into. Like, down to the source code, or something I’ve cracked before a couple times, and then I can just feel how all of it works.”
Tucker wiggled his fingers demonstratively and the PDA beeped to life under Tim’s hands, making the other man gasp. And yeah, totally envy in those cute blue eyes he turned all balefully on Tucker.
“How many of the functions can you use? Anything the PDA can do, or…” Tim trailed off, clearly thinking of everything he’d already seen the PDA do.
The real question would have been what couldn’t Ida do. And honestly? Yeah, Tucker remembered the trial phase.
He gave another shrug.
“Technically? Yeah, anything it can do, but I still prefer hacking the old fashioned way. Most of the network stuff too, cuz I’m only really “in” the PDA. Or Danny or Sam’s phones.”
Tucker hesitated, wondering how best to really explain the difference. Danny had never been any good at it, Tucker’d had no idea what he was talking about from the video game thing right up until he’d been sucked in himself.
Which… was probably gonna be a next-hangout adventure for Tim and the bats. And Oracle, if he could swing it.
For now he gave up, giving Tim a hopeless grin.
“Honestly it’s something you’ve really gotta feel for yourself. Danny’s great at the transition from real world to code, but he always just punches things, y’know? Turns out knowing how code is actually supposed to work doesn’t translate well to being part of it,” he added with a sigh.
Because frankly? It was bullshit unfair. Tucker could code an entire other galaxy around Danny with his eyes closed, but put them in the same metaphysical layer as a firewall and Danny could just.
Punch it.
Which, theme for the week, was also not how firewalls fucking worked. At some point Tuck figured he’d either gain a new level of understanding through liminality, or give up and ask Technus a couple questions.
Technus was currently Tucker’s subject instead of Danny’s anyway. They’d made a bet.
Which meant Technus shoulda told him about their shenanigans in time, which was probably what Tucker would hold over his head for the whole firewall thing.
It was so nice when things just worked themselves out.
Tim looked a little disappointed, but mostly still intrigued. Tucker could see his fingers just itching for his own tablet to take notes.
“Do you think that’ll change?” He asked, blurting it out like he couldn’t hold back now that Tucker stopped talking, “I mean, if you become more liminal? Or just practice your abilities more?”
And see, this was what Tucker loved about Tim Drake-Wayne. They were on the same wavelength. He grinned back.
“Probably. But I mean, it’s kinda cheating too. For now I kinda like that I have to do things the way I always used to first, before any ghostly powers kick in. It’s more me, y’know?” And like hell he’d let anyone think his code skills were just some meta ability.
He’d worked damn hard for those skills, and he was damn good. One of the best, and he was also good enough to know he still wasn’t actually top of the charts.
That was the Oracle, although knowing they still hadn’t cracked his servers felt really good.
Tim was all but vibrating, clearly full of questions, but they were both interrupted by a loud growl from Tucker’s stomach. Immediately echoed by Tim’s, so at least he wasn’t alone.
The two shared sheepish grins, and then Tucker stretched.
“So, breakfast and then Twenty Questions?” He offered cheerfully, and Tim nodded at once, thrusting the PDA back and rolling off the frankly massive bed.

If (some of) my ocs were in a dating sim, who would you pick?
Brute forcing through art block for a silly little au post for Valentines Day (and a bday gift to myself lmao). They’re in more modern clothes rather than what they’d wear in TES/d&d to fit the vibe. The background is from Palia bc I’ve been playing it to death.
OC Traits/Pronouns/etc below the cut
There's more info in their specific intro posts but these are like dating blurbs lmao
Adair - he/him; bisexual; 22; 5'10" not including antlers; circle of spores druid (necrobotany vibes); tiefling (Baalzebul or fey I'm looking); loves cooking, baking, woodworking, anything artistic, making preserves, gardening, crafting, and clinging; gets cold and sick easily; doesn't talk very much; forest cryptid/liminal space vibes like he's just chilling
Samael - he/him; bisexual; 24; 6'; rogue; Imperial; loves dancing, music, drinking, skooma/smoking but working on it, cats, flirting, minor alchemy stuff, in modern aus he'd vibe with motorcycles and mechanics stuff; can be quite the romantic but u gotta break down some walls before he's not just flirting to flirt
Mavus - he/him; gay trans man; 26; 5'8"; necromancer; Dunmer; loves studying, reading, writing, alchemy, magic, caffeine, quiet, tea, and cleaning; forgets to sleep and eat when he's working on something; sticks to a skincare routine so his hands don't get too dry; affectionate like a cat in that you know you have him when he's doing something different in the same room as you
Raoul - he/him; gay; 40s; 6'4"; warrior; Breton; loves woodworking, playing flute, birdwatching, helping people, reading, and cooking; sober; very strong but very gentle; has a hard time saying no when someone needs help so he'll overextend himself; comfort food fixes all
Korilian - they/she/he; queer nonbinary (possibly also my only polyamorous one?); 28; 6'8"; jack of all trades; Altmer; loves learning, exploring, trying new things, tinkering and inventing (they made their prosthetic), fashion, makeup, and dancing/music; down to earth; they don't let much bother them
Julian - he/him; bisexual; 25; 5'10"; owns a dragon sanctuary; human; loves dragons, alchemy, drawing, journaling, singing/dancing (the dragons join in), dragons again, meeting new people, and cooking; his companions are Lucent and Apophis and Lucent's approval is hard to come by (he's jealous that you're getting attention); kind to a fault; infodump alert

Cannot add to that post as my reasoning got this is filled with spoilers and idk if OP wants them on their post but in my opinion Falin IS the narrative. She very directly EMBODIES the main themes of the story.
She start as a self-sacrifice. This is the type of heroism that Kabru and Toshiro represent and that Laios ends up rejecting, because its not sustainable. "We are more serious than you because we eat well and rest" - it sounds paradoxical, but we have seen how correct he is. They wouldn't have gotten this far had they been skipping meals and dragging themselves beyond the point of exhaustion.
Her first resuscitation is about following one's desires even beyond the limits of what is supposed to be legal or moral. She literally embodies the same wish that will lead Marcella to become dungeon master - having her friends survive the limits of their death.
Then, when she turns into a Chimera, she becomes the embodiment of her brother's desire - but not just that. She is fused with the creature that killed and ate her and that she ate in turn. She is the liminal space between monstrous and human, natural and unnatural. She's the same space the dungeon embodies. She's a formidable magic monster, created with dark ancient magic, but she is killed via her basic, mundane biological needs - food, air. And she's killed by her brother - which is a whole another thing, but here we hone in on the fact that he is the protagonist, and the one whose desire in this moment she embodies - and of course, as her brother, in many ways her mirror.
Then, she literally BECOMES the food, which is the main theme of the story. To eat is to live, to eat is the privilege of the living. She is the meal everyone shares, that brings everyone together. She died twice, and was rebuilt by the bones up by the love of those around her. She bears the marks of the love of Marcella and Laios and everyone else in the form of the dragon's parts left in her body after her final resurrection. The beast who ate her fed those around her, and in consuming her, people brought together by their love for her (directly or indirectly via their debt to Laios) saved her one last time.
Her final appearances in the extra material are about her learning to affirm her wishes. No longer self-sacrificial, she embodies the final moral of the story: to live, we must hunger, and accept we hunger. Consume and accept to be consumed. This is what life is all about.

What are your top five dragons?
I've thought long and hard about this, and I've come up with a list that I think is pretty good.
Spoilers for, honestly, like, a couple things below the cut. I've tagged the post accordingly.
5. Raijin, my Dragonite from Pokemon Violet
Tumblr media
(Obviously this isn't specifically a picture of Raijin, my Switch is sadly batterydead at the moment, but this is about what she looks like in my head. Anyway!)
Somehow or another, Dragonite ended up being the very last Gen I Pokemon I'd never caught or trained in any way. I'd caught all of the others in SOME playthrough of SOME pokemon game over the years, even the ones people generally don't love or tend to forget about. (I will be a Lickitung apologist until the day I die.) I'm not sure why I avoided the Dratini line for so long. Some general subconscious backlash? I can't really say for sure. Anyway, I caught Raijin off the coast of Paldea in Violet and she quickly became essentially the ace of my team. As it turns out, Rain Dance + Thunder with an Electric terra type is a pretty good combination.
4. Black Hole Dragons, from a Dungeons & Dragons homebrew sourcebook
I looked and looked and to my IMMENSE frustration, could not find a copy of the old-school D&D homebrew sourcebook that these things are from, but please trust me and hear me out here.
Black hole dragons as depicted in this book, a truly ridiculous bestiary of appropriate foes for Epic-level adventurers, were bizarre snaking collages of geometry that could grow to be larger than the size of the visible universe and erase people from existence by breathing on them. After encountering these when reading these sourcebooks at the impressionable age of uh....like, 23, vanilla D&D's usual array of chromatics and metallics don't do a ton for me anymore.
3. Nicol Bolas, from Magic: The Gathering
Tumblr media
This guy.
This fucking guy. This is how you do an impossibly powerful doomsday villain right.
Nicol Bolas is a dragon who's also a dimension-hopping wizard. As part of what is by my estimation one of Magic's last good sets, he also kills a bunch of faux-Egyptian deities and takes their place as the divine ruler of an entire dimension. This guy fucking rules and every single card that's ever had his name on it is awesome and if you disagree, well, that's good for you, because WoTC killed him right around the time they decided to make Magic boring forever.
2. Falin Touden, from Dungeon Meshi
Tumblr media
No, she counts. Get back here.
If I stopped to count all of the ways I thought Falin was an amazing character we'd be here all day, but very briefly I find her arc and her interesting liminal role in Dungeon Meshi's narrative super compelling, and I find her characterization very, very relatable, and not entirely in a way that reflects well on me.
But as a *dragon.*
As a DRAGON
Falin is still one of the best to ever do it. The original Red Dragon is a very cool and pivotal part of Dungeon Meshi, and I love that too, but when Falin is fused with it by Thistle we get what is just honestly one of the most memorably bitchin character designs of all time, a ludicrously hot capital MG Monster Girl, and a huge driving force for the rest of the story. Not to mention Ryoko Kui clearly put a ton of thought into how she would work, since a key flaw in her design (so to speak) is what eventually leads to her being saved. I love her to pieces, and the form Falin finally gets at the very end of the story is honestly super cool-looking too! Although it's less dragonny than this one.
The Dragon, from "Dragon"
headspace-hotel's "Dragon" is one of my favorite poems of all time. It's easily the best tumblr post, and while I don't read a ton anymore, it's definitely one of my favorite overall pieces of literature.
I realize that being so brief in the top entry makes this a little anticlimactic, but I can't bring myself to rob the poem of its impact. I linked it there, so please go read it. More than anything else on this list, it's made me think. Beyond simply thinking it's an absolutely great piece of work (which it is), it's very meaningful to me. A reminder that the danger is still present in our time.
Some honorable mentions: the rest of the Dungeon Meshi dragons, every dragon from the Souls series and from Elden Ring, Paarthurnax from Skyrim, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Godzilla, Beast Machines Megatron, and Odious, the Green Dragon who turns into a giant d20 that I bought from Hasbro Pulse a year or so ago.

Thanks for the tags @tracingpatternswrites and @blitheringmcgonagall.
So many Hozier lyrics and the summer feeling opressive. I had to use the first few lines as I always seem to open with a very short statement. If anyone sees any patterns let me know :D
Rules: List the first line of your last 10 (or however many you have) posted fics and see if there's a pattern
1.So much of the livin', love, is the being unknown (Dumbledore/Grindlewald)
It was a hot summer. The air was unmoving, yet it quivered with the droning of bees, whose wings seemed to be locked in a perpetual battle against the treacle thickness of the atmosphere.
2. And I've never loved a darker blue, than the darkness I have known in you (Sirius/Bellatrix)
She was seven years old when she first held him. She remembers it vividly, recalling the biting November chill that made her shiver as her mother's house elf forced her into a dress with a starch-stiffened collar that chafed against her neck.
3. A moth to a Flame (Orion/Walburga)
Orion Black had always had a predisposition towards order and neatness.
4. Pietas (Sirius Black/OFC and the black family/dysfunction)
The heat pressed against him, leaving sticky rivers of sweat wherever it touched.
5. There are some people who are better unknown (Unrequited Peter/James)
"Pete…" The call had stopped him dead in his tracks, frozen on the leaf-strewn path, caught in the liminal space between the warmth of the Potters' living room and the gate leading to the world beyond.
6. Nothing like a cup of Chai before a battle (Pavarti Patil)
Hidden in the store cupboard at the very top of the Astronomy Tower, Parvati stirred her cauldron, her heart pulsing against her ribs.
7. Familia Ante Omnia (Orion Black/Emotional repression)
Bathed in the cold, grey light of dawn, Orion wakes, wrapped in the shroud of sheets soaked in the vinegar perfume of his sweat.
8. The son and heir of nothing in particular (Tom Riddle)
London was burning.
Trapped beneath a dome of humidity and pollution. Imprisoned in the type of heat that wrapped itself around you, like the smog that blanketed the city each winter, smothering the city’s frenetic energy.

Prompt 181
“Hey. Hey Tuck. Tucker. Tuck look. Look.”
Tucker looked over the edge of the screen lazily, the half interested words on his tongue dying as he let out a wheeze of laughter. “Oh my Ancient Sands, dude, how did you manage that?”
Danny had, for the last near year, been trying to mix shapeshifting, thank you Amorpho, with duplication. Something he’d apparently succeeded in today, if the massive fuck-you hydra standing before him was any indication. The very pleased looking, well did it count as a hydra if it had wings too?
“You need to show Sam. Oh my Sands we need to show Val too. And Wes. You did it dude!” He floated up to look at Danny, who did a little twirl to show off. He shook his head, flecks of gold and sand falling from his hair as he laughed.
“Do you think,” Danny lost it in laughter as several other heads echoed his words, from whichever the main him was. “Holy ancients that’s great- do, do you think we can make a dragon club? Hydras are totally dragons right? Do you think we could pull a Tiamat?”
He landed on a head, taking a selfie to add to the groupchat labeled Preparations. “Dude, we should, but let me send this to the others first… But I am so down.”
They can, in fact apparently, pull a Tiamat- with a little help from Princess Dora, practice in front of Frostbite in case something goes wrong, and some advice from Pandora on controlling extra limbs. Honestly, who is going to want to mess with Amity when there’s a giant dragon? And hey, maybe they can break the barrier now!
The heads for those wondering who I was thinking of for each lol And perhaps what they might all get ((1) Kwan, Pressurized Water) ((2) Wes, Sonic Blast) ((3) Sam, Poison Gas) ((4) Star, Plasma) ((5) Danny, Ice Breath) ((6) Paulina, Acid) ((7) Tucker, Electricity) ((8) Valerie, Fire Breath) ((9) Dash, Pressurized Wind)

Hi there! Any new SQ content? Been down a rabbit hole of then again haha and I always love your work!
I wrote this just for you because it's been ages since I wrote these boys and turns out I have really missed it.
(Do not ask me anything about Miraculous, I have not watched it since season mid-season 3 and have no plans to. I get all my info from tumblr memes and a single person in the SQ discord who doesn't mind giving loose spark notes.)
.....
"So that's what's been up with me lately, how about you guys?"
Adrien gave a bright grin.
The other three boys stared at him in concern and confused horror for a few moments.
"Dude." Randy said empathetically.
Adrien let his head thunk on the table, "I know."
"And I thought my thing was a lot." Danny said, mostly to himself.
Jake leaned towards him, "Yeah, I actually got to talk to you about your thing. Cause it's starting to affect my whole deal."
Danny waved him off, "Later, we're helping Adrien deal with his mental breakdown right now."
"I'm not having a mental breakdown," Adrien mumbled into the wood.
"Buttercup, I think you need to have one." Randy said.
Adrien tilted to the side until he was laying more on Randy than the table, "I don't want to talk about my thing anymore. Let's talk about Danny and Jake's thing."
Jake threw his hands in the air, "It's Danny’s thing that's affecting me!"
"Look it's not the first time all of reality had to get rewritten so that everybody would forget my secret so I don't know why it's affecting you this time."
Now Jake looked like the one who should be having a mental breakdown. "I was talking about your self-appointed Title!"
"My what?"
"You heard the capitals in that too, right?" Randy whispered to Adrien, who just nodded his head.
"What do you mean reality got rewritten?! Danny did you BREAK REALITY?!?!?!"
"No! Vlad did! I fixed it! Can we go back to the titles thing cause that sounded kinda important. Like proper capitalization important."
"Danny I swear on my ancestors-"
"So like chapter titles or movie titles?" Randy asked.
Jake turned to stare at him incredulously and Randy could feel Adrien shaking from giggling.
He opened and closed his mouth a few times in response, before waving his hands in front of him like he was trying to ward off all of Randy's General personality. "Randy please, I can't deal with you and Danny at the same time."
"Hey!" Danny said in offense. Randy just nodded in understanding.
Jake groaned into his hands for a moment, before straightening up and pointing at Danny. "Phantom has been officially Titled as the Liminal Bridge. No one knows how that happened and are miffed about it. And now I have a bunch of restless spirits that keep bothering me because they somehow figured out I actually know you and they don't know how to reach you."
Danny looked confused, "No one has ever called me that. Why are you saying it like it's a big deal?"
"Because it is a big deal." Jake stressed. "In the magical community, things like that are big deals. I don't just call myself the American Dragon for fun. It's an official Title. And it comes with responsibilities only I can do, problems that only I have the authority to solve. These aren't things you can just give yourself either. It's usually done by someone with higher authority over you, it's passed down from previous holders, some very old and powerful mythical beings can bestow one on you, and sometimes the right magical artifact can if it's sentient and impressed enough. You can't just call yourself a bridge and be like "That's a thing that everybody has to call me now!"."
Danny was looking at him wide-eyed, "I uh….I mean that's kinda what happened?"
Jake's head hit the table with a 'thunk'.
"Man I've just been fighting McFist bots this entire time, y’all’s lives are wonk." "Thanks Randy." The other three chorused.

As you can see, my alignments when it comes to deities are on the Chthonic and darker side of the coin. They are wonderful but hold many mysteries. secretiveness is quite common (Lord Thanatos, I'm looking at you!), but it is because they hold the hidden and primordial dark knowledge of subconscious fears, changes, and visions. I trust my intuition and rely on it greatly

Does Eloran have their own lore like an oc, or is he more self insert?
Sorta both? I'm very loose with my fursonas' lore -- I do have a headworld that I imagine them in but they mostly just represent me, or at least a pronounced facet of myself.
Prism (my previous main fursona) had lore where they travelled to a part of my headworld that functions as a liminal space, with portals going to different dimensions to help the denizens within (or to just hang out). I've sorta lost connection to them though for a few reasons, which is why I came up with Eloran. I've changed quite a bit over the years and I feel as though Prism hasn't changed with me (I plan on redesigning them into a shape-shifting dragon in my headworld instead of just letting them collect dust).
So at this moment I'm not sure how to write Eloran in... do I just give them Prism's lore? They feel like 2 completely different characters to me; Prism being more selfless, deflective, and neutral good. Whereas Eloran feels more mischievous, confident, and a touch selfish. So I'm not sure what he would do when plopped into my headworld. And I need to flesh out so much of it still. I'm sure it will come to me!
Not that anyone really thinks about this more than me, but it's fun regardless. I know some people are very strictly one or the other with their fursonas but I guess that isn't the case for me!
Thank you so much for asking! ♡

Decided to have fun with Vio being a questionably moral researcher. 😊 Written like a journal entry.

[At the top in neat, slightly slanted half-cursive, functional and unadorned: six months since the shattering]
Moon Pearls
There are several methods of gaining access to the dark world, though the term seems to be used for different iterations of the same phenomenon. For ease of understanding, I will use the arcane term “the Twilight” to refer to the dark world otherwise known as the Sacred Realm, and “the upside-down” to refer to the dark world that is a mismatched reflection of our own. How the two connect is something I will devote further study to at a later date.
The Twilight, like the upside-down, is a strange liminal space. My current theory is that the Twilight is something like a crawlspace, or the back of the embroidery- a place where divine forces perhaps had their seat of power, and then from there manipulated their creation. Perhaps it even props up our own dimension, like an easel does a canvas. I do not have enough data, and it is a difficult thing to study, but very entwined with my research into the upside down world the moon pearls gave us access to.
My thoughts wander. I am scattered from lack of sleep, too much tea, and forgetting to eat, but inadvertent fasting and sleep deprivation was apparently the prime and necessary conditions needed for a breakthrough in my research. I do not have access to the Dark Mirror, but I have studied the mechanisms behind it and obtained my own mock up for testing. The simple disc of obsidian glass should be harmless, beyond whatever innate properties of fire and earth it possesses, uncontaminated by any contact with dark artifacts. Based on the words of the Maidens I have reason to believe the power behind Shadow’s summoning in large part came from the Trident of Power, which is currently sealed in the royal vault. Any attempts to experiment with it, despite my eagerness, are perhaps fortunately out of my reach for now. With temptation out of the way I can build the necessary baseline for taking full advantage of any later opportunities. Not that I plan to steal from the royal vault, but Dot has her own research to attend to as a daughter of the royal bloodline and might be amenable to… friendly bonding time over ancient relics, or at least indulging me.
Perhaps I will take a note from Red’s tactics and attend tea with her more often.
I digress. The easiest method of researching transfer between planes at the moment is investigating moon pearls, but with the defeat of Vaati and Ganon it seems the rising pockets of dark mages have either dispersed, gone metaphorically underground, or for all I know destabilized in the wake of their patrons’ destruction. I will have to look into any rumors of strange magic to see if I can confirm what happened. With them apparently gone, however, we have no easy way of purchasing or otherwise locating moon pearls, forcing me to resort to the potential folly of memory and whatever relevant literature I can find.
I want to know what exactly a moon pearl is, and where they come from, and I believe I have a lead.
The moon is symbolically connected to the elements of water, through the tide, and shadow, through its shifting phases of dark and light. While difficult to parse, according to the diaries of a Sheikah priestess all of these aspects fall under the purview of the blue goddess Nayru. Most of this I have deduced from her descriptions of an initiation rite involving an introduction to the mysteries of the water temple. I am sure some of it is lost in translation, but the details of a particular incantation involving conjuring and confronting your own shadow to attain true understanding of the self were noteworthy, and I will enclose the relevant copy in my notes.
There were also mentions of either “dragon tears” or “divine tears”, and a ritual involving them to pass to some sort of shadow world. Whether this is the Twilight or the upside-down remains to be seen, but given the uncommon but not too unusual frequency with which we found moon pearls I doubt they come directly from a goddess. Dragons, however, are widely known to be intensely magical creatures, occasionally aligned with a goddess, and I imagine any dragon born to Nayru’s persuasion would have the blue goddess’s magical affinity for shadows. It is not a widely explored topic outside of Sheikah esoterica, and I am willing to suspect some form of royal propaganda due to Hylia’s presence in their bloodline. I would say theoretical presence, but given my experiences as a hero I can at least verify that Zelda has an unnatural affinity for light magic, shields, and sealing, on par with Shadow’s demon-granted abilities to shapeshift and conjure items. Most mages at least require an incantation, if not an entire book and some sort of object focus.
Hence my interest in the Trident of Power, as Ganon’s focus for manipulating the Mirror of Twilight. For now I must do the necessary research and preparation, as the safety of just picking it up and giving it a wave is questionable at best. I don’t know if Ganon was naturally inclined to darkness or if the Trident did something to him, but I won’t rush into this like a lovestruck fool.
I think the others will be supportive if I express an interest in dragons. They’ve been wanting me to get out of the house more, and the sunlight will do me good.
I wish it didn’t.

emovulet came back!! im afraid this is gonna get lost in my mess of desktop files so im posting it here ;-;
↓ info under cut ↓
rivulet - he/she - axolotl slugcat
he was more inspired off an eel, or a fastfin from how to train your dragon. i wanted something slick and cool looking for his emo-ass personality lol
he suffers the same fate as me, being picked upon constantly as a kid for being quiet. hence, his passive-aggressive personality and multiple layers of shielding. i imagine that was how a more cold and violent demeanor emerged from him!
she finds solace welcoming and friendly, and enjoys environments that would be unsettling to most others. probably has proto-long-legs in his room. yeah.
likes: the rot, dark, damp places, swimming, underground lakes, quiet ambience, biological horrors, liminal spaces, analog horror, dissections, gardening
dislikes: people, being around anyone other than their closest friends, public speaking, speaking in general, light, being out of water for more than 24 hours at a time, loud sounds, compact notes/writing
'theme song': well, better than the alternative - by will wood
abilities/skills:
swimming + diving: as an average axolotl. rivulet swims very well. he swims by. swimming.
underwater breathing: basically self-explanatory, as rivulet has external gills.
wet hands: rivulet sometimes has wet hands after swimming. this allows for her to pop unpopped bubble fruit, which only pops whilst in contact with water.
speed + agility: rivulet works out daily. he also goes onto full-on panic mode when scared. this fight-or-flight response boosts rivulet's speed very well, especially when he's running for his life!
he's also very agile and can stay calm under drastic measures, allowing for skillful parkour.
personally i imagine them to be a medical student,,
overall i really love rivulet, even though i can't play them properly D: here's the transparent / fullbody only version btw:
