Junior disciple Xiao Qing, courtesy Xinyi. She’s Xxc and Sl’s adopted daughter as well as Wei Wuxian’s niece.

Xiao Qing is actually born physically blind in this au, but it doesn’t hinder her as you’d think.

She was born in a village in Qishan jurisdiction and was subjected to human trafficking at a very young age. During the war between sects, she managed to escape and found herself in a town of Pingyang living off of goods she stole.

How would she do that when she’s blind? Well, the thing is— although she’s partially impaired, Xiao Qing was born a ghost medium.

Since being a medium allowed you to see and hear spirits, it essentially gave you slight access to the spiritual realm.

Xiao Qing can see things people can’t, and even if that couldn’t help her, there were a lot of ghosts who were willing to be her eyes as long as she gave them something in return.

Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan came across her when they were night-hunting, she warned them that the area they were going to was full of spirits. XXC took interest in her abilities and asked if she wanted to tag along with them, seeing as how stealing wasn’t a really nice lifestyle, she agreed.

The two cultivators had already met WWX as some point during their travels, and when they decided to visit his newly formed (still working on) sect, SL gently suggested that Xiao Qing might want to try cultivation.

At first she was hesitant, since it was hard fighting while you were blind. But with a lot of encouragement (and a very good teacher) she considered being a disciple to refine her training while XXC and SL kept traveling.

Xiao Qing is very good at sensing danger, whether it’s people or monsters. She has adapted very well to her surroundings and even have a group of ghosts that she can trust (she trained the ghosts as well)

Her main weapon is the pole-arm and she’s surprisingly very flexible with it. She can tell whether a ghost is lying to her or not and it has made her a very strong card in the sect.

Although she’s a junior disciple, her title among the sect is ‘Songbird’ which has garnered her a lot of respect. Plus, the fact that she fights like a warrior despite being blind.

Bonus:

Xue Yang and her have met in the street before, but she wouldn’t have known. One time they actually planned a heist on a bakeshop and succeeded. But after that they never met again until Wei sect.

Been thinking about Shang Qinghua, Yue Qingyuan, and Shen Jiu in the Great God Airplane AU again, and how Yue Qingyuan is going to handle these revelations.

And I think, unfortunately for everyone... he's going to be incredibly himself about it. Which is to say, he'll accept that things are as they are, assume that he's messed up beyond all forgiveness again (because he knew something was just too too different about Shen Qingqiu, but he never pursued it, he never dug deeper, and it turns out he's failed to come for Xiao Jiu again-), and continue to take it all on the chin with a smile while playing the part of the perfect sect leader.

You know, business as usual.

But this, my dear reader, is where Shang Qinghua finally, finally gets to be the one to spark change himself. Because after several months of watching his sect leader mope around the peaks, and with the benefit of his newly-recovered self-confidence, Shang Qinghua borrows one of Shen Qingqiu's old fans (one of the old old ones that Shen Yuan never really cared for but Shen Jiu was fond of), and sweeps his way into Yue Qingyuan's office.

It's not uncommon for one of his martial siblings to storm into his office and alert him to their presence by slamming their hands on his desk, but never, never, has the martial sibling doing so been Shang Qinghua, meaning that Yue Qingyuan's rote and good-natured response is shocked right out of his head as he looks up into the intense gaze of his meekest shidi.

"I," Shang Qinghua announces, with the knowledge of Airplane but the full fury of An Ding fury, "Have had! Enough! Of this goddamned tragedy! You know where he is! You know what he is! You know what you want to tell him! Go do it! You stupid idiot!!!"

Yue Qingyuan gapes (as is the only available response to a hamster that has decided it's tired of being nice and is going apeshit), "I- I doubt I could find-"

He gets smacked in the cheek with Shen Jiu's fan for his trouble. "Of course you can find him! You're willing to give up everything and everyone for him, you always have been, that's how I wrote you! All you need to do is tell him the things you wanted to say and never did!"

And Shang Qinghua grabs Yue Qingyuan's wrist, slaps Shen Jiu's fan into his palm hard enough that his fingers instinctively curl around it.

"The plot is done, the greater destiny of the world is finished, you have a chance to write your own story now, and if I can grow a spine then so can you! He's waiting for you at the end of the ninth road! Go!"

And there's really not much you can say when the creator himself storms into your office and tells you, in no uncertain terms, to go get your man, so Yue Qingyuan does the only thing he can do.

at some point they probably explain to sqq and sqh that they've transmigrated into a story that's about sqq transmigrating into PIDW, which is also a story.

there can be three routes to this:

1. there is no hurt. binghe's heartbreak points doesn't even exist. everyone is cool and there are no deaths. also tianlang-jun tortures and kill OPM, so there's that. maybe some romance or whatevs happens but it's all good.

2. while they stopped 90% of the original conflict, they proceed to accidentally create some more by simply being there. the system declares that they're the "new main character" for the audience, just like how sqq is with svsss. now, new and different plot points start happening to them instead of shen qingqiu! how will they use their knowledge now, with things they can't predict?

2. mid-way, they accidentally put a huge target on their back. unintentionally, they're going against the system's wishes and the whole point of the novel: uncover the hidden plot of PIDW. they're like a virus, a bug, something that isn't supposed to be there, but is. they don't have a system, they exist beyond that; so they can't just be sent back. they're accidentally ruining the story of svsss by not having any of the conflicts mxtx created to occur, and thus must be stopped before they completely flip everything over.

"Holy Shit!" Xiao Qing gasps, jumping up from the divan she'd lain on.

"Language, Shimei!" Deyao scolds her but is left ignored as the disciple scrambles to get her shoes and reaches for the door.

"Fuck my language-- I need to warn Wei-shushu!"

Worried by the behavior, the senior followed behind Xiao Qing as she made a mad dash through the corridors. "-Wait! Warn Wei-zhongzhu about what?!"

Blank pupils meet his for a spare second before they focus on the path forward.

"Cultivators! Gold, green, purple, blue-- many of them!"

The senior disciple makes a shocked gasp as he halts, Xiao Qing couldn't care less to look back at him. The Reverberant Hall was not a close distance from her junior quarters much to her dismay, and she couldn't waste her time!

A strong pressure of wind shot past the junior disciple as her eyes caught sight of a crow in flight, heading towards the same destination.

The disciples stationed at the magistrate must have noticed them as well. It gets there only a few seconds before she does, only because she has the decency to knock first and announce her arrival before throwing her formalities out the window to kick the doors of the Hall open.

Her uncle sits in the middle of the hall, crow perched on his finger as it reports its findings to him.

"Wei-zhongzhu cultivators at bay, possibly seventy at arms. Further observations cannot be made, going into hiding." The crow squawks in its mocking tone, repeating what it's been told to say.

Wei Wuxian's expression is grave as he watches Xiao Qing enter panting with exhaustion.

"More than seventy, shushu.' she shakes her head, blank pupils shaking in anger.

"A hundred men at arms, Jins are scouting the graveyard forests. They're trying to find the entrance to the Burial Mounds."

He closed his eyes, feeling a headache forming at the edge of his skull. Rubbing the bridge between his eyes he hesitantly asks his niece,

"...which sects?"

Xiao Qing swallows fir air as she chases to calm herself, before she answered slowly. "...Qinghe Nie, Lanling Jin, Laoling Qin, Baling Ouyang, Yunmeng Jiang, Gusu Lan... and many more. Shushu." She visibly hesitated stating the last two.

His eyelids closed itself harder, burying his face deeper into his face as if it would hide him from the world.

He had expected this day to come, but he didn't think it would be so soon. They're not investigating that's for sure, Jins are scoping their domain, they have an army of cultivators in the town he protected. It's clear to anyone what their intentions were.

Of course they would get suspicious, Yiling Laozu and his criminal refuges have hidden away from the eyes of people, no news about them but a simple rumor that they've closed themselves off from the rest of the world.

Wei Wuxian sighs, stuck on a fork road of decisions. "What do you think, Wen Qing?"

The woman in red and white, who stood next to his dais was in deep thought.

"They're definitely not here to negotiate, with an army like that." She scoffs. "Neither are they willing to leave peacefully."

"Oh please, when do they ever." He snides.

The doctor sighs, "Either way. We don't want the innocent citizens outside getting involved in this. We should evacuate them."

Wei Wuxian nods, "Gather the chiefs and seniors." He ordered her, who immediately works.

"A-Qing, I need you to stay here. Your eyes will be needed"

His niece salutes, "Of course, shushu."

As soon as orders were given, everyone immediately set to work.

The senior disciples, those with more experience, were to descend the mountain stealthily and help the Yiling citizens evacuate in order to secure their safety.

Burial Mound residents were relocated to the Bamboo Dwellings deeper into the mountain and were not to leave the area until Wen Ning said otherwise.

Wen Qing and her students were in charge of stocking emergency rations, water, clothes, non-perishable items to hide away in case their supplies were cut off.

Junior disciples prepared emergency exits, secured hidden passage ways, and were tasked to guard the residents.

Heavy tension hung in the air as everyone moved with purpose, Xiao Qing could feel everything from the enclosed Red Room.

In a smaller room meant for more important meetings, stood the remaining chiefs and Wei-shushu.

They were discussing... something. Xiao Qing wasn't really focused on it, she was too busy keeping an eye on those Jin cultivators, making sure they didn't get too close to the gate of the mountains.

"They're scattered into five groups, shushu." She hisses.

"Any of them get close yet?" She shakes her head. "But I think it won't be long till they come across it.

The man clicks his tongue in irritance. Hearing this, Xiao Xingchen stands up from his seat, "Xue Yang, with me."

"I'll stall them for a few more hours, you need to be focused on this discussion A-Xian."

Wei-Shushu sighs, "Thank you Tang-ge."

"What are their true intentions?" Luo Qingyang mutters, placing tokens on the map to indicate which cultivators were where.

It's been 20 minutes since Xiao Xingchen and Xue Yang had descended to stall time, during that period, some Yaos have entered the fray to help the Jins search.

Wei Wuxian sighs, "We'll have to let them in."

"And what?" Wen Qing growls, "Let them burn our home down?"

"It won't be long until they find the gate. And even if we don't let them in-- they'll resolve to cutting off our water supply. Hell they might rampage the town!" The man groans, rubbing his temple gently.

Wen Qing opens her mouth to argue back, but before she can do that his niece gasps.

"They've... they've found the gate... Shushu."

Wei Wuxian walks pass the empty houses slowly, unwilling to pace it up towards the entrance of his home.

It woulld be no lie if he said he didn't want to meet any of the sects. Sometimes he wishes he hadn't the patience nor the consideration for these men, he sometimes dreams of kicking their asses so hard they fly back into their homes.

He sighs wilfully, Wei Yuan by his side notices his mood and smiles pitifully.

"We can always do this another day, ba." His son says. Ahhh what a loving child.

"Unfortunately, I don't think the sects would like that." Mo Xuanyu muses, his arms are folded and his posture is rightened, making him seem upright and intimidating.

Xue Yang cackles, "But then again, when have we ever cared for their feelings? They never gave shitwad about us!"

His son sighs, taking in his fellowmen's words in consideration. Although Wei Yuan has never experienced the world of the cultivation soceity; being holed up in a mountain and by extension its only town, it's safe to say he doesn't like them either-- in light of his childhood.

"We're only here to listen to their intentions. Anything else I will not permit." He tells them.

By then, they've walked enough that they can see the silhouettes behind the barrier of the mounds.

"But," Wei Wuxian hums, "If they attack first, I wouldn't be so keen."

It was basically permission, even though he just said the opposite. And it formed smiles on his wards' faces, ones that weren't as sweet and joyful.

Once they've reached the gates Wen Ning bows his head at him. The cultivators have long noticed his presence and have resolved to shout louder at him.

Wei Wuxian inhales deeply, closing his eyes to savir his last moments of peace.

The sect leader smiles, the corner of his lips visibly twitching.

"Welcome to the Burial Mounds, dear cultivators." He greets them.

The silence that comes after is refreshing.

But not as aggravating as the curses and yells that come after.

Not me feeling like 😈 when I think about tossing basic premise of #cang qiong sect leader yue qingyuan revealed to be the missing imperial prince au with #Shen Jiu time travels and decides to hide from cang qiong by becoming a concubine AU would result in.

Yue Qingyuan (or rather Yue Qi since he's still only head disciple) is revealed to be an imperial prince - a consort successfully snuck her son out of the imperial harem and city which allowed him to survive into adulthood, but he was lost to slavers somehow.

And now the emperor has a crown prince. And said crown prince... wants his cousin's concubine for himself.

Yue Qi: Xiao Jiu, I'm coming to save you from this perverted imperial prince! I'm going to free you from this marriage you don't want! You can marry me instead! Cang Qiong: Fuck, don't tell me we are losing our future sect leader! Liu Qingqiu: Fuck, who do I support, my cousin Long Shenyuan or my friend Yue Qi?!

Shenyuan finds himself alleviated from the stress of wondering if he's going to fall into the hot seat of emperor in the future but at the cost of now having to fight the crown prince for his concubine.

As for Shen Jiu? He's just like fuck, being a concubine was supposed to be a way to hide for a few years to stay away from Cang Qiong. Now, it's like Cang Qiong decided to come to him. What next, the Beast being reborn with his memories too?!

(Yes, when Luo Binghe is born, he has his memories and then that makes another prince coming in to vie for Concubine Shen Jiu's heart.)

Welcome to my SQH AUs! I've been making progress in filling out the peaks, so here's a round-up of what we have so far (everything rated T for Teen):

Peak 1: Yue Qingyuan

M/M, one-sided

~5,000 words

Summary:

The plan had seemed simple. It was a “for want of a nail,” situation, wasn’t it?

If Yue Qingyuan hadn’t been locked in the Ling Xi caves, he would have made it to the Qiu estate in time to rescue Xiao Jiu. If Shen Qingqiu was not a bitter person with ruined cultivation, he would not be so jealous of young Luo Binghe. And if Shen Qingqiu did not torment Luo Binghe when he was a disciple, and if Yue Qingyuan did not simply let it happen out of guilt, Luo Binghe would not have a reason to destroy Cang Qiong Mountain Sect.

So all Shang Qinghua had to do to save this ill-fated world (and most importantly, his own skin) was stop a young and desperate Yue Qingyuan from trying to force a connection with his future spiritual sword too soon.

Easier said than done.

Peak 7: Liu Qingge

Summary:

Liu Qingge was beautiful, and delicate, or so everyone assumed when they saw him, and he hated it.

Shang Qinghua was the big, dumb packmule of An Ding. Or so Liu Qingge first assumed.

But Shang Qinghua is cursed with very, very bad luck and Liu Qingge is about the only cultivator strong enough, fast enough, and resourceful enough to keep him out of harm's (or at least inconvenience's) way. When the two are assigned as mission partners, Liu Qingge steps up.

What if... when coming down the mountain, XXC met XY and JGY before meeting SL?

ooh this is such an interesting one, not least because the answer is, as with so many things, "it depends a little on how much you want to change." (and a little bit "it depends on whether we're talking novel or show canon. I'll go with novel canon because the timeline makes more sense.)

one thing for sure, and this goes in pretty much any au: xiao xingchen is still not going to be interested in getting involved with a sect, and that's inherently going to be a limiting factor on any relationship with jin guangyao. jin guangyao is not going to be interested in not being involved with a sect (specifically, in his ideal world, the jin); xiao xingchen is never ever ever going to want to get entangled with any kind of entity that holds political power.

the interesting prospect to me here though, is the fact that what enables xue yang to lash out at xiao xingchen as destructively as he does when xiao xingchen tries to bring him to justice for the massacre of the chang clan, is xiao xingchen's friendship with song lan. without song lan, who xue yang uses as the catalyst to break xiao xingchen, xue yang's ability to strike back at xiao xingchen in a meaningful way is pretty limited. and this is mostly giving me the mental image of a universe where xue yang adopts a strategy of trying to get in good with xiao xingchen as a means of figuring out a way to get back at him for interfering. have to know how your enemy works in order to psychologically destroy him.

i'm not sure where this goes. the funniest iteration of this is the one where xue yang gets obsessed with xiao xingchen before he kills the chang clan, so he hasn't technically done anything that xiao xingchen knows he should be condemning him for (experimental subjects remain undiscussed), and embarks on a mission to tear xiao xingchen down while xiao xingchen still sees him as a mischievous young man with a shortage of discipline who is charming in a poorly behaved kind of way.

so from xue yang's perspective he is on a mission to figure out how to take this self-righteous daoshi down a peg or sixteen, and from xiao xingchen's perspective he's acquired a friend (??) who maybe he can help since he just needs a little guidance :). unstoppable vindictive force meets immovable well-intentioned object.

somewhere out in the world there are klaxons ringing in song lan's head and he doesn't know why.

Being from Yunmeng, however, Wei Wuxian doesn't hear a word about this story until his aimless wandering brings him to the outskirts of Caiyi Town. (in which there is wei wuxian, a rabbit, and a secret.)

Kay's comments: Ah, this story! I've originally read the thread-fic on twitter; it was one of my favourites and the ao3 version doesn't disappoint either! The summary says it all and Wei Wuxian, during his time in Caiyi, befriends both Lan Wangji and his rabbit, xiao-tuzi and their interactions are very adorable. It's a very sweet, short get-together story and of course, who else could ever hope to gain the key to Lan Wangji's heart than Wei Wuxian?

Excerpt: When he unties Little Apple from her post the next day, Wei Wuxian isn't surprised that Lan Wangji didn't show up. What he is surprised by though, is the white, floppy-eared bunny perched on Little Apple's saddle. "Hi there," Wei Wuxian says cautiously. "You're not—Lan Zhan's rabbit, are you?" The bunny only twitches its tiny nose and tilts its head adorably. There's also a key attached to a chain around its neck, nearly hidden in the thick fur. …It's Lan Wangji's rabbit. Of course it is. Wei Wuxian sighs. "You can sit there if you'd like," he tells it, "but we're gonna have to share the space." Wei Wuxian is mildly disappointed that he's spending his morning with a donkey and a bunny, rather than a donkey and a beautiful man, but he appreciates the company nonetheless.
