palmnueng are - soulmates, they're brought together from the very first moment they meet, standing in the living room of a huge mansion that is something like a home to one and something like a prison to the other. their love for each other is inevitable and present in every one of their actions, so easy to read and so simple to decipher. they find each other again, and again, and again, every single time, because they are bound together by something inexplicable and fundamental and so, so easy and impossible to explain.
but also - they are also nothing like soulmates, because their relationship is built on a foundation of excruciating effort and patience and loving on purpose. they both choose each other, over and over again, and there is no predetermined fate or destiny because it's so hard it's almost like the universe is against them and they struggle and suffer and hurt - but in the end, to them, it's worth it. every single moment, all of it is worth it - simply because it is them. simply because it is palm and nueng and they don't need anything so fickle and unpredictable as destiny to bind them together - they would choose each other every single time, regardless.

the way they naturally fall into eachother's roles when the other isn't there.

the instinctual head-tilt when Crosshair stabilized his rifle on Tech's shoulder, as if they'd done it a thousand times before.
It's the fact that Tech clearly told Phee all about his brother.
It's the sad, fond smile on Crosshair's face when Omega said Tech made her memorize all the plans ("of course he did").
It's the way Tech knew exactly where to look for that mirror.

The soul, fortunately, has an interpreter - often an unconscious but still a faithful interpreter - in the eye. ~ Charlotte Bronte

I dont know if im the first person to realize this, but im losing my mind. I keep thinking about the Pale in disco elysium, the rumors of peoples or societies that may somehow still be surviving inside of it maintaining traditions and culture despite the Pale wiping all of that away. The way that the Pale consumes everything, obliterates even the memory of what was there before.
Was nobody going to point out that the pale... that was a *thing.* That really happened. The Pale of Settlement.
Estonia (the location of the developers) was *inside that region.* I don't know if it was an intentional allusion, or just the... ghosts, the echoes, of the Pale, fragments of culture that refuse to be erased clinging to the hearts and minds of those still alive. In a way, it almost would be fitting with the themes of Disco Elysium if it was the latter.
I think I hauve covid and I desperately need to know if I'm onto something or if i've finally lost my mind

“I hope you told Padmé I said hello.”
I both love and hate the fact that this piece of dialogue made it into TCW.
Love because Obi-Wan shows Anakin it’s fine. That he knows and, although he doesn’t approve, Anakin doesn’t need to try and hide it from him. He won’t actively work to keep them apart. He knows he couldn’t.
Hate because Anakin isn’t supposed to know that Obi-Wan has figured things out. It contradicts RotS. Anakin thinks he’s gotten away with it, and yes Rex knows because he’s been helping him with this little hide and seek game for a while. But Anakin is supposed to think that Obi-Wan is completely in the dark. Obviously it makes no sense because he’s as subtle as a hungry gundark, but we all know Anakin loses all brain cells when his wife is involved.
