One of the 7,000 Cheetahs in the world. Well I can easily rank that as one of the best experiences of my life, in spite of dealing with the problem in the camera lens, and issue faced in finding out the best place to camp in the reserve. The pic was taken near the Masai Mara, Kenya and Serengeti, Tanzania border, where we saw this cheetah on a mud bund. Seeing us, in our safari vehicle, it decided to take a detour (probably a hunt time for him). Cheetah are a vulnerable species with just 7,000 of them left in the wild, with most relating to the same gene pool, leaving any genetic diversity in them. So in case of a viral attack, the entire population in a geaoraphic area will be vulnerable. Their population is consistently going down especially in the Southern part of the continent like Namibia and Botswana, which now have almost 50% less Cheetah than they had in the 1970s.
