Curious on your thoughts of the Buck cheating storyline in s5..... personally I was not a fan but wondering what you thought of it?

I didn't mind it and, that's the thing, I don't mind a cheating storyline so long as it's done well and serves a purpose. Buck wasn't in a great place in 5x11. Chimney was gone. Maddie was gone. He and Chimney parted on bad terms. Eddie was struggling enormously, but he was also gone. Taylor was... there... and that was a problem in itself, so Buck did what Buck did best: he acted recklessly and harmed himself (and Taylor in the process). I know some people disagree with that reading, and that's okay, but that's just always how I interpreted that event. Buck isn't a cheater by nature—he is, and always has been, desperate for a family and a love of us his own—but what he is is a chronic self-harmer. He regretted the kiss immediately, and then proceeded to stew in guilt for however long it took him to tell Taylor (I don't remember off the top of my head). Him cheating was a classic Buck move.

And, I know you didn't ask, but I always find it easier to just dump all my related thoughts into one post and move on, so I'm going to address the speculation / theory that Buck/Eddie are going to cheat on Tommy/Marisol at the wedding and just get it over with, because I've, quite literally, never hated a theory more and that's saying a lot.

If Buck cheated on Tommy now, there would be no rhyme or reason for it. By all accounts, Buck is in a good place. The whole world just got blown wide open to him. He's at peace, finally, now that last piece of the puzzle has clicked into place. So a cheating storyline now would make absolutely no sense. Not from a story perspective, and certainly not from a character growth/development perspective. Buck cheating would be completely insulting to not just himself, not just Tommy, not just Eddie, not just Buck and Tommy's relationship, but to Buck and Eddie as well. These characters, these writers, and these actors have fought so long and so hard for a love story, a genuine love story that is worthy of some of the most iconic straight couples on TV - a love story that is devoid of queer stereotypes and queer problems.

So, the idea that anyone could want them to say "fuck that!" and wreck these characters' growth and development is—well, it goes back to the idea that this fandom is/appears to be genuinely incapable of demanding the same high-caliber stories our cishet counterparts receive. But it's also just so completely frustrating. I'm sure we all want Buck and Eddie to get together, probably now more than ever. Oliver's interviews over the past few days have been illuminating, infuriating, and a bunch of other adjectives. So I know we (not just us, but everyone involved) want to see this love come to fruition sooner rather than later. But doing it in the laziest, cheapest, most insulting way possible would be genuinely upsetting and would devalue these characters so egregiously.

So. Yeah. That's all I have to say on the topic of cheating re: Buck, Eddie, and all the rest of them. Lol.

I can't believe there are Buck stans out there who hate Maddie for leaving him?? Did y'all never watch the show or do you not understand how abuse works?? Maddie is someone who grew up with parents who were too busy grieving their dead child to love their remaining children. While Buck had his older sister looking out for him, she had no one until she met Doug. Doug was probably really nice to her at first. Maybe he was the first person to show Maddie the kind of love she always wanted. Maybe he was showing Maddie he was protecting her by keeping her away from the rest of the world. Like Eddie, Maddie was always the caretaker. She raised Buck and took care of her grieving mother. So when she found someone who was willing to take care of her, in his own fucked up way, she found herself drawn to him because she had never been shown any better love.

So of course she doesn't want to leave the one person who's willing to love her. That doesn't mean she doesn't love Buck. She loves him like her own son. She gave him her own jeep, essentially cutting off her own means to escape an abusive partner.

She was also a teenager who fell in love with the wrong person. She is not a villain, she is a victim.

Hello, since I ended up writing like 12k words yesterday on a one of my fics called Feeling Fine (Could Be Better), I thought I'd share a little snippet of that instead!

I couldn't find anything fun that was around Seven Sentences so here is like Seventeen Sentences. I don't know I didn't actually count because I'm lazy.

“Look who I found!” Chimney announced, fake cheer in his tone. Buck barely smothers a smirk as he rounds the corner to the kitchen. He freezes the smile on his face upon spotting both his parents hovering at the dinner table. “Make nice and I’ll make drinks and plot our escape route.” “Are you sure I can’t help plot?” Buck asked in an undertone, swallowing a groan when Chimney nudges him towards his parents. “Evan, so glad you could finally join us.” Margaret says, dryly. “Chronically late as always. I was beginning to worry you might have grown up since the last time we saw each other.” Buck bites down on a rude retort in favor of hugging his sister. “Need any help in the kitchen?” Before Maddie can response, their mother cuts on. “I think your sister has got everything handled, the last thing we need is you in the kitchen charring anything.” Buck deflates a little but Maddie jumps to his rescue, she proudly pats his shoulder. “Actually, Buck is a great cook. He helps Bobby out at the station all the time and Bobby doesn’t just let anyone into his kitchen.” Chimney laughs, “Eddie is the one who isn’t allowed anywhere near a burner. Thank God we don’t cook in shifts anymore the way we use to before Bobby was Captain. Nothing would ever be edible.”

Buck & Eddie: An EXPLANATION (NOT AN EXCUSE) for the basketball incident

After rewatching different scenes included in 7x4, the basketball scene where Buck appears to ‘intentionally’ bump into Eddie which caused Eddie to be injured pissed me off.  It frustrated me so much that I wanted to figure out why the scene was included in the episode because they were playing a friendly game of basketball and there shouldn't have been any injuries.

Even though I’m not well versed in sports, I do know enough about them to understand tackling someone usually happens in U.S. football not basketball, so the full body contact wasn’t necessary if Buck just wanted to block Eddie’s shot (get it… Buck was trying to block Tommy’s shot with Eddie, it’s a double entendre 🤪😜).  The point is, I figured there had to be more to Buck’s behavior than him just being ‘jealous’ of someone he met like once a couple of weeks prior.  Also, I wanted to know why Buck didn’t immediately apologize to Eddie and I think I may have found the answer.

Full Disclosure: I do NOT condone violence of any kind in any instance because it’s unacceptable behavior no matter how it’s viewed!  It’s never the answer to a dispute and use of words can usually resolve a matter when there's a disagreement.  In this scene BUCK DID NOT DO THAT AND I HATED IT!  Therefore, his actions on the basketball court were unfathomable and it doesn’t matter if they were INTENTIONAL or not since he bumped into Eddie so hard that Eddie fell and injured his ankle.  He could have broken it or received a permanent injury from it, so IT WAS NOT OK!

Before I delve into my interpretation, please understand I don’t think Buck was fully aware and I hope he wasn’t intentionally trying to hurt Eddie.  However, I do think his actions were 70% subconscious and 30% conscious because he had to know on some level, that his actions were over the top especially since he told Maddie he didn’t like how he felt left out from Eddie spending time with Tommy after only two weeks.

THIS POST DOES NOT INTEND TO PROVIDE AN EXCUSE FOR BUCK’S BEHAVIORS, IT’S SIMPLY A POSSIBLE EXPLANATION FOR THEM.

Please note: these are my interpretations and observations of episode 7x4; therefore if someone doesn’t agree, it’s ok because two people can have different opinions and they can coexist.  One person’s opinion about a scene or an episode doesn’t have to be like someone else’s and it doesn’t make one person’s opinion right and the other’s wrong or vice versa.  Everyone consumes and interprets media differently and just because one person sees something one way and they liked it, it doesn’t make it so for someone else since everyone has different backgrounds and experiences.  Please try to use GRACE when reading other’s thoughts on a matter.

Now back to the regularly scheduled program…

Don’t read below the cut if discussions and interpretations of the shooting, Eddie’s breakdown or the basketball scene are triggering.

Before you start reading, please note, THIS IS NOT ABOUT OS!  HE’S THE ACTOR WHO PLAYS BUCK SO DON’T GET THIS POST TWISTED.  BUCK IS A FICTIONAL CHARACTER AND OS IS A REAL PERSON.  NO ONE KNOWS OS PERSONALLY EXCEPT FOR THE PEOPLE HE ALLOWS IN HIS LIFE.

Another Reminder: before you read this please REMEMBER this episode was told from BUCK’S POV!

After carefully analyzing the basketball scene, I remembered something about Buck’s past.  Everyone who knows the character is fully aware that he doesn’t want to be left behind or abandoned again.  That's why it's important to note that in season 7, Maddie’s getting married to Chimney, Bobby and Athena almost died on the cruise and Hen and Karen are adopting a baby.  Everyone in their found family is moving on with their lives and IMO, when Buck realized Eddie had moved on too, he couldn’t handle it because Eddie’s supposed to ALWAYS be there. They have each other's backs and have had them since 2x1. But it seems like Buck forgot one thing, he pushed Eddie away in 6x15 with that BS line about Natalia seeing him and outside of work, they weren't spending time together anymore.

In 7x4, Eddie found a new friend (who wanted him but I’ll elaborate on that in another post) and he was having a great time going to fights in Las Vegas, spending time working on his cars and going to karaoke, basically he was doing the damn thing but Buck couldn’t handle it since Eddie and Chris are his FAMILY!  They’re the two people in his found family that are his but he’s either too scared to say something or I don’t even know what but the point is, he expects them to be there whenever he’s lonely and wants to cook some lasagna or something.  But this time they weren’t since Eddie moved on and Buck didn't know what to do about it (Hint: all he had to do was open his mouth and talk🙄). 

After I remembered the aftermath of the shooting and Eddie’s breakdown, I realized, in Buck’s mind, he thinks the only time he gets to be with Eddie in the way he wants to be with him (AS HIS HUSBAND) is when Eddie’s hurt (related post linked here) which is FALSE AND UNFOUNDED but in Buck’s mind, he doesn’t know that.  If this is his rationale, then he needs to go back to therapy because it’s not true.  Eddie added Buck to his will and named him to be Chris’ legal guardian but it appears he still hasn’t fully dealt with his abandonment issues yet and until he does, it's likely he won't be able to move past them.

Before Eddie found a friend with similar interests (which I thought was great) Buck got to be Eddie’s everything and he was Chris' other dad. He's never been a guest in their home and he's slept on their couch numerous times (related post linked here).

That was then and this is now since things changed in season 7 because it appears Buck started to believe his position in Eddie’s and Chris’ lives was in danger and that’s why he reacted the way that he did in 7x4.  He thinks the only time Eddie and Chris need him is when Eddie’s hurt and to prove my point, I’ve included two examples below.

In 4x14 (full video of the shooting linked here), after Eddie had been shot and he was in the hospital, Buck was at 4995 S. Bedford St. taking care of their son Chris while Eddie’s then girlfriend, Ana was sitting by Eddie’s hospital bed even though he was in a coma. 

Buck had full control of the house and he was fully responsible (with Carla’s assistance whenever he had to go to work) of taking care of Chris, making sure he went to school all while they waited for Eddie to wake up.  Make no mistake, Buck was sitting in Eddie’s chair at the dining room table.  He’s Chris’ other dad and has been for years.

In 5x14 (video linked here), Buck was literally living with Eddie and Chris after Eddie’s breakdown. He was taking care of the house and their son whenever Eddie went to therapy. He made sure Chris did his homework and he was waiting for his HUSBAND (EDDIE) to come home so he could cheer him up👀.

Chris called him in a panic and Buck rushed over to help.  Now, even though Buck had a girlfriend (whom he used to help him get information on how to help Eddie with Equine Therapy), he was literally staying with them to make sure Eddie and Chris both got what they needed.

Bonus points: Buck called Bobby (his found dad) to stay with Eddie so he wouldn’t wake up alone while he left to take Chris to school.

In 7x4, Buck tried everything he could to get EDDIE’S ATTENTION (it was Eddie’s attention he was seeking) but nothing worked since Eddie was so enamored with Tommy and all of Tommy’s toys (I’ll elaborate on this topic too in another post).  Buck was pissed so he encouraged Chimney to go to the basketball game with him but trust and believe Buck wanted to be there so he could see EDDIE!

It appears Buck was irrational and irritated and the more he saw the new bond between Eddie and Tommy, the more furious he became.

This is where things get messy because in Buck’s mind (reminder this is from his POV) it’s possible he thought that if he physically injured Eddie, he’d get his place in Eddie’s life back and he’d be able to play the role of HUSBAND (to Eddie) and DAD (to Chris) like he did in the past.

Buck truly believed Tommy was a threat to his place in Eddie’s life and that’s the reason why he reacted the way he did during the basketball scene.  The idea of him losing Eddie was real this time just like it was during the shooting and Eddie’s breakdown but there's ONE MAJOR DIFFERENCE.

EDDIE’S HAPPY!

He’s not hurting or pressing Buck to hang out with him and Chris because he went and found a life while Buck was entombed in his loft with the death doula.  It’s something Buck couldn’t process or comprehend since he wants Eddie to be there waiting for him.

Buck can’t fathom a life without Eddie and Chris because they're his family and trust and believe he’s never felt threatened by Ana or Marisol because he KNOWS Eddie’s not into them.  Reminder, he was the one who told Eddie to breakup with Ana instead of him trying to stick it out like he said he was going to do. 

Buck is HYPER aware of Eddie in every scenario which is the reason why he noticed Eddie's discomfort in 5x2 while Ana and Chris were at the firehouse. Also, he ignored Ana when they were there. He wouldn't even look at her. Buck's not bothered by Marisol either because if he was, he would have told Eddie in 7x1 to have her talk to Chris about women instead of asking him to do it.

When Buck’s facial expressions are examined, it’s easy to see he looks mortified at what he'd done to Eddie and the hints of their shared trauma from his past was mixed in too. 

This was especially true while Eddie was on the ground.

Bonus points: when was the last time Buck saw Eddie injured and lying on the ground?

Ding, ding, ding… THE SHOOTING!  Buck risked life and limb to save Eddie after he was shot in the middle of the street. And I believe he would have reacted differently if Tommy hadn't stepped in and said something that caused Buck to deflate.

Things were different this time because Eddie wasn’t shot but he was injured but Buck caused it and he wasn't able to fix it or save Eddie and take him home or to the hospital. Buck tried but Tommy shot his own shot which caused Buck to foul out of the game and by proxy he thought out of Eddie's life.

In the above GIFs, it’s easy to see how he wanted to reach out to Eddie but his hands wouldn’t move the same way he couldn’t touch him in 4x14 while they were riding in the back of the 133’s fire engine.

Before I end this post, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how Buck has hurt someone before; it wasn’t physical that time but it was emotional. 

BE CLEAR, I’m not a fan of Taylor Kelly’s and I’m not comparing him asking her to move in with him after he did a dumb thing (his words to Maddie in 5x13) with the way he injured Eddie.  But I am using this as an example to show his lack of comprehension regarding how his actions affect others and the way it continues to persist.

In 5x13, when he went back to the loft and she was sitting on her own couch, he said, “You think I trapped you” and she responded, “Am I wrong?”, his response was, “I’m not sure”.  I think on some level he did know since he was afraid someone else was going to leave him. Eddie wasn't at the 118 and Maddie, Chimney and Jee-Yun had just returned to Los Angeles.

Two years later, in 7x4, Maddie asked him, “You didn’t mean to hurt him (EDDIE), did you?”; he responded, “I don’t know”.   His response was very similar to the one he gave Taylor and on some level, I believe he does know since he was 'jealous' of EDDIE hanging out with someone other than him.

IMO, Buck wasn't able to get the emotional skills one usually obtains while they're growing up because of the raggedy Buckley parents since they emotionally abandoned him and Maddie.  He’s deathly afraid of losing those he loves but he can also be selfish with his presence whenever he gets to make things all about him.  Reminder, he admitted it to Eddie in 3x9 during his second apology about the lawsuit. He said, "I'm sorry I wasn't there Eddie. You and Chris needed me and I had my head so far up my own behind with that stupid lawsuit." He was able to fix it back then and there wasn't any other people like Tommy hanging around to get at Eddie.

Additionally, two more examples of the way he makes things about himself happened in season 5 when he was dating Taylor and they remained entombed inside of his loft.  They never went anywhere except for the separate trips they took to Oklahoma when she went to visit her dad in prison. It happened again with Natalia at the end of season 6.  Since he wasn’t visiting Eddie and Chris, it appears he was entombed in there again with her so there’s that.

Be CLEAR, Buck is 32 years old (not 30 like the show lied and said he was in 6x11 because he was 28 in season 3 (3x1 Maddie said it to Bobby and Athena) and he was 29 in season 4 (4x5 proves it when he said it himself to Maddie) and since MATH IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE, it’s the same no matter where someone lives.  The fact is 2 + 29 = 31, therefore he was 31 in season 6 and he should be 32 in season 7). Buck should be able to express himself with words instead of acting like someone in middle school.  That’s possibly the reason why Maddie told him about the kerfuffle she had when she was 14 years old and told him not to act like someone that age.

The point of this post is Buck was/is afraid Eddie’s leaving him again but this time it’s different.  Buck had all but abandoned Eddie and Chris while he was dwelling inside of his loft with the dEaTh DoUlA and when he finally emerged after breaking up with her, he thought Eddie and Chris would be there waiting for him but this time they weren’t.  Eddie found a new friend and Buck felt left out so in his conscious and subconscious mind, he figured if he hurt Eddie, he would be the one there to take care of him like he’s done every time in the past.

But… Tommy stepped up and said, “I can take him because I brought him and there’s an urgent care near his house”.  If you look at the expression on Buck’s face, you can see he felt like it was over.  He’d finally done the one thing he thought he’d never do (even though he broke Eddie’s heart in 6x15 with his BS line about “She sees me”) but anyway, he didn’t have a leg to stand on anymore since Tommy was there for Eddie and he helped him by taking him to urgent care. 

I HATE THIS SCENE AND I WISH THEY HAD FOUND A BETTER WAY TO HANDLE IT.  I don’t like it when either of them gets hurt.

Finally, Buck needs therapy to deal with his inability to handle his emotions.  I know a lot of people want him to just move on from his traumas but the fact is he hasn’t and that's why he needs to get help to be able to learn how to process his thoughts instead of him just providing lackluster responses like, “I don’t know” or “I’m not sure”.

His behavior was inexcusable so HOPEFULLY, he’ll have to APOLOGIZE in CANON to Eddie who’s never intentionally injured him.

Will he apologize to Eddie for acting like a middle schooler in 7x5? Only the showrunner, writers, producers, actors and actresses know the answer to that question.

too tired to keep lying

Buck hates hospitals. He’s spent far too much time in them, sent too many patients to them, seen too much loss—he hates hospitals. But the part he hates the most isn’t the antiseptic smell or the fluorescent lighting or the smug doctors who act like they’re so much better than the lowly paramedics. The part he hates the most is the helplessness. When there’s nothing else to do but wait and see.

Wait and see.

Buck watches from several feet away as a doctor speaks with Maddie. Chim is still in surgery, has been for hours, and Buck knows he should be trying to do more, should at least cross the room and wrap an arm around his sister, help her stay standing, but he can’t make himself move in that direction. Because he can’t bear to see her look at him right now, knowing that he wasn’t able to stop this from happening, wasn’t able to protect her from this.

Buck’s stomach lurches and his feet unstick, sending him in the opposite direction from Maddie. Sending him to the exit.

His shoulder bumps someone as he passes through the door, and a hand grips his bicep for balance—a familiar hand. He exhales in a heavy gust of air as he steadies himself, then looks up into Eddie’s face.

“Any news?” Eddie asks quietly.

Buck shakes his head. “He’s still in surgery.”

Eddie nods once, then follows Buck as he keeps moving towards the main doors. Once they cross the threshold into the parking lot, the sun high in the sky is a reminder of how long he’s been waiting for news. There are messages on his phone—from Bobby, from Hen, from Tommy even, which is a tangle he can’t even begin to think about right now—but he can’t think about them, can’t return any of them. He can’t—

“They’re supposed to be getting married today,” he whispers. “In four hours. They’re supposed to be getting married, and instead—instead they’re—and I—I can’t—I don’t know w—what I—”

Eddie’s hand closes tightly around his, and Eddie’s arm closes around Buck’s waist to keep him standing. And Buck can’t help himself—he turns his face into Eddie’s neck and breathes, he lets Eddie take his weight, lets himself lean into the support that he hasn’t allowed himself to accept from anyone else.

“I should be making calls,” Buck says as Eddie’s warmth seeps into him, burning away the icy chill of numbness. “There are things to cancel—the caterers and flowers and—someone has to—”

“You don’t,” Eddie assures. “You don’t have to do anything.”

“But someone has to tell everyone that there’s—” Buck’s voice cracks. A shudder wracks him and Eddie’s hold tightens. “—that there’s not going to be a wedding today.”

Eddie stiffens for a moment, but before Buck can ask why, Eddie turns his head, his mouth grazing the edge of Buck’s jaw.

Buck freezes, then goes hot. An accident, he tells himself. Eddie definitely wouldn’t have done that on purpose, right? Eddie is—Eddie isn’t—Eddie wouldn’t—

Against his will, a hazy vision rises in the back of Buck’s mind—one that he’s been trying to figure out whether it’s a dream or a memory since Chim’s bachelor party a week ago.

Eddie’s hands on his bare chest, Eddie’s tongue in his mouth, the kiss broken by both of them laughing when Buck knocks over a glass of wine onto his pants—

Buck shivers, and almost misses it when Eddie says—

“There could be.”

“What?”

Eddie swallows hard, pulling back enough that his eyes can meet Buck’s. “There could still be a wedding today.”

“Considering the groom is unconscious on a surgical table and the bride is stuck waiting for news in the waiting room, trying to keep their child calm, I’m pretty sure that’s not—”

Eddie cuts Buck off with a kiss, swallowing the shocked noise Buck makes. And this kiss, Buck can’t ignore. This kiss, Buck can’t write off as a dream or a drunk hallucination. This kiss—this kiss is real, and right, and Buck feels like he’s been hit with lightning all over again, but he also feels like he’s come home, like he finally understands—

Fuck. Buck breaks the kiss with a gasp, wrenching himself back. “I—I—I—Eddie, I have a boyfriend.”

He doesn’t want to say it, he doesn’t want to stop, doesn’t want to think at all. But he’s not 26 anymore—he knows better than to avoid difficult things by burying himself in sex. So he knows that he has to say it. He has to—

“I know,” Eddie replies, and his voice is soft, his eyes are gentle. His hands are warm and steady and sure as they slide up Buck’s arms to his face. “I know you do. Right now. But I’m saying—I’m asking—”

Uncertainty flickers for the first time in Eddie’s gaze, and Buck would give anything to take that away. So despite the fact that he knows better, despite the fact that he’s supposed to be so much more responsible now, despite everything—he leans in and kisses Eddie again.

Eddie murmurs something into the kiss that Buck misses in the haze of heat that floods him.

“What?” He breathes as the kiss breaks again.

Eddie’s thumb passes over his cheekbone and Buck shivers again as his eyes flutter shut.

“Marry me,” Eddie repeats. “Marry me today. Because tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone and I know—I know it sounds crazy. Because yes, I know you have a boyfriend, but I’m saying—I’m saying you could have a husband. I’m saying that I could be your husband. Because I’ve loved you for so long and I think maybe you love me too, and I know I’ve been a coward—I know. I should have told you years ago, I should have told you so many times, I never should have waited so long. But if you let me—if you let me, I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you, because I am in love with y—”

Everything around Buck disappears. Everything narrows to white noise and Eddie’s face and those words repeating on a loop as the last several years of memories play back like a flipbook. And it’s like a puzzle piece clicks into place, like a key turns in a lock, everything making sense in a way he hadn’t thought was possible.

“You love me?”

Eddie blows out a breath. “More than anything. Do you—” he clears his throat. “—do you love me?”

And it’s right, so very right, when Buck pauses as the flipbook of their lives keeps playing back, and he says—

“Yes. Yes, I love you.”

The smile that breaks over Eddie’s face is brighter than the sun, and steals the breath from Buck’s lungs.

“So…you’ll marry me? Today?”

Buck kisses him again. And when he pulls back, he takes a breath. And gives him an answer.

Guess, who's back? enemies to lovers singers au!!! snippet which goes right before the very first scene I wrote for this fic Buck and Lucy bestiesm is that we all need for life (yes, I ship platonic Luck)

Buck is barely able to open his eyes, hating with all his soul the person who decided it’s fun to call him too early. Quick time check tells him it’s almost midday, but he went to sleep at 4 in the morning being caught up in the book about Greek culture he found to give more facts to Chris as the boy was getting interested in this topic recently.

“Lucy, I love you, but right now I plan the worst and most painful ways to kill you,” Buck's hoarse and grumpy voice doesn’t cause a loud laugh from the blonde, which always happens when Lucy calls him to irritate him a little.

“Buck,” Lucy’s voice sounds awful. Like she is almost crying.  Lucy never sounds like it. She is the strongest and sassiest person Buck knows, which was the reason he chose her as his manager the moment 118 found him. “Buck, there’s no way to sugar coat it for you,” Lucy takes a little pause and breaks Buck’s heart, knocking all the air out of his lungs. “Your asshole ex just outed you to the world. He made a big YouTube video about how he dated the new big pop star and heartthrob, Buck Buckley, showed a bunch of your photos with him, photos where you two kiss under mistletoe on the evening we met, for example. He also tried to make you look like an ignorant jerk who broke up with him because you got super popular and rich, conveniently forgetting to say how you lived almost for a year in Texas after your breakup and went viral only after this year,” Lucy speaks with such an anger Buck can’t help but feel how tears runs his cheeks, because Lucy is so protective over him, not just his career. 

“He posted it last night and now it is trending everywhere. I’m sorry. I know you weren't ready to be out to the world. Hell, some of the people close to you don't know because you prefer not to come out. There’s nothing we can do now. Except try to control the fallout,” Lucy sounds so genuinely sad and caring and Buck just cries more, not even knowing what he can say to her. “Hen and I are going to have the meeting today later, Bobby will be here too. But you stay at home and go full close up. Do not answer your phone if you don’t know the number. Do not go anywhere. I’ll call you later. Maddie will come soon to check on you,” Buck hums in the sight that he understood, not that he would even try to do it anyway, he feels like he was put under concrete, crushing him to the ground and preventing him from breathing. Lucy ends the call, but Buck can’t move.

He holds the phone near his ear looking, almost without blinking, at the white ceiling of his house and tries to understand what has he done to Ian, except not staying after he found out this jerk was fucking with his best friend, behind Buck’s back.

Is anyone else getting tired of the toxic buddie shippers gearing up to hate on everything bucktommy? They’re already sowing the seeds to crap on any interactions in the next episode, saying it should be just about Chim and Maddie. You can tell they will be faux outrage if there’s any key romantic moments or Tommy helps save the day. They’ll be saying it’s pushing a LI, stealing the focus from others and trying to force a storyline.

I agree the focus should be Chim and Maddie but there’s room for others too in smaller roles. And narrative wise it actually makes a lot of sense for Tommy to help out with a rescue, if that actually happens.

Plus, if it were buddie they’d be all over it. In fact, aren’t they pushing for all the bachelor party scenes and morning after scenes with Buck and Eddie? If it should be all about Chim and Maddie, shouldn’t they also not want those scenes?

I know they’re the minority and I should block and ignore. I’m just over the fake concern and virtue signaling. It’s so obvious and makes me think these people are very young and inexperienced in life. Can they not see how embarrassing their theories and faux outrage are? Don’t they know we can all see through them to the real reason they don’t want bucktommy or Tommy to be part of it?

I’m a buddie shipper too but I’m getting so sick of these immature, toxic shippers. They’ve managed to turn this fandom so sour in a manner of weeks. We could have just all enjoyed this journey together but instead here we are.

Part 1 (or some of it) of a 5+1 jealous! Eddie fic I started ages ago back when Eddie was still dating Ana... Or Buck starts dating a guy, Eddie has a realization (or five) about Buck's taste in men and is entirely ridiculous about it

Buck’d been weird the last few weeks. Eddie couldn’t pinpoint in what way, or why, or even what changed, but he had been weird and it was unsettling Eddie — Buck was his rock, his one constant, his own anchor. Usually, being weird meant Buck was having problems he didn’t want anyone to know but it didn’t seem to be the case this time — there was no tenseness to him, no dropped shoulders, no distant looks. Eddie decided to wait. It wasn’t like he could force Buck into talking about it, even if he had known what it was.

So instead Eddie took a well-deserved shower and changed his uniform for a new one — the last call was nasty — and tried to look unsuspicious as he climbed up to the loft, taking a quick look at Bobby, preparing lunch, with Chim as the dishwasher, and then instantly turning to Buck and Hen. Hen was going over her medical textbooks again, but it was clear she wasn’t into it today, it had been a long day and it was showing on everyone.

But Buck didn’t look even a bit tired

“Do you want to stay the night today? Chris has been asking about building a fort again and you know I hate it—”

But before he could make even more poorly worded excuses that Buck usually would be tricked into while ignoring the obvious hope in Eddie’s voice, Hen said, from the other end of the table, “Isn’t it the date night tonight?”

Eddie frowned. He didn’t have a habit of telling anyone from the team about his dates with Marisol — aside from Buck — and he certainly didn’t have another date planned at least for a week.

Eddie opened his mouth—

And Buck froze, wide eyes blinking, and Eddie could see his face turning red, his skin getting blotchy down to the neck of his navy blue collar.

“Hen,” he said, sounding a bit breathless.

"What? I lasted long enough, you've been checking your phone all day, lover boy," Hen said, putting her book down on her lap.

She had that familiar quirked brow, like she was unimpressed, but she also looked at Buck like he was the punchline to a joke she was in the process of making.

She was obviously wrong because Buck would have told him if he was going on a date.

Or not.

"It's still new," Buck said, still red in the face. At that point, even his ears were turning red. "I'm excited, sue me."

"No lawsuits in this firehouse," Chim shouted from the kitchen.

There was a familiar sound and Chim groaned quietly from the kitchen annex—Bobby swatted his arm with the dishcloth.

"Hate to break it to you, but you two have been dating for almost two months, it's not new," Hen pointed out.

And that was alarming information. Because Eddie could understand not knowing about Buck's first date or even second date but this? This meant he had been kept in the dark for many of those dates already and going by the lack of reaction from anyone else, he was the only one.

"Two months?" he asked, moving closer to the couch Buck was sitting on. "Why didn't you say anything?"

"It's new," Buck repeated. Which was a weak excuse — it's been two months apparently and everyone else knew already.

"Is our Buckaroo shy?" Hen said, leaning over the table like she wanted to pinch Buck's very pink and very pouting cheeks. She probably would have if they were sitting closer.

"Maybe," Buck said, shrugging. “Maybe I just don’t want him to run away the minute he meets you guys.”

"Come on, Buckley," Chim perked up, coming from the kitchen and draping himself over the back of Hen's backseat. "You know if he did, he wouldn't be worth it. And Maddie's been asking for a coffee date with him for weeks now because you go on, like, two dates a week, at least."

There were a couple of seconds Buck opening and closing his mouth, like a fish underwater, and Eddie waited for an explanation. Any kind of explanation, really.

"We're taking it slow," is all Buck answered it with, like a broken machine.

And those were the exact same words Eddie had been using while describing his relationship with Marisol, but somehow it didn’t make him feel better about it. Quite the opposite — it suddenly felt like he couldn't let his breath out, like he was about to punch something in a second and couldn't get the air in his lungs out until he was about to collide his first with this something.

"Come on, kid," Hen said, sounding very close to the original punchline. This time, she leaned over the table and patted Buck's knee. Chim stood behind her with a smirk that suggested he was also on in the punchline.

Eddie couldn't see anything funny about this.

At the pat, Buck looked at Hen, then he looked at Eddie, a bit wide-eyed, and Eddie couldn't help crossing his arms over his chest. At that, Buck abruptly stood up, hopping over the table's edge with his usual energy, narrowly avoiding him and stepping into the direction of the kitchen.

"Do you need any help, Cap?"

As soon as he said that, in a tone that was slightly too high-pitched to be genuine, his phone rang from his back pocket. Everyone turned to him and Hen snorted, sharing an amused look behind her shoulder with Chimney.

Bobby turned around from the stove with an equally amused gaze, even though he tried to hide it even more.

The ringtone was unfamiliar and irritating.

"No, not for now, but thank you," Bobby said, his eyebrows raising meaningfully before he added, "You should probably get that, don't want to keep him waiting. Dinner in ten."

Buck walked away, taking his phone back out of his pocket. He smiled at the screen and it was the same smile he had when Eddie showed him whatever picture of Chris Carla had sent him that day — soft and calm and a bit dreamy. Eddie didn’t like it.

He liked it even less when Buck finally picked the call and in a tone somehow even softer, answered with a, “Hey.” 

He didn't like it. In fact, he hadn't liked the whole conversation to begin with and the way everyone had been so casual about Buck dating some girl they never met was—

"Wait," he blurted out, "did Buck say he?"

“Yeah?” Chim said, casually sitting down next to Hen and picking up the remote to the TV. “I think the guy’s name is something starting with a d? David, maybe? Maddie would know, I try to tune their talks out, Buck’s like another annoying little brother to me, I don’t need to hear him gush about his date’s eyes.”

“Oh my,” Hen exclaimed, putting down her book on the table now and turning to Chimney like he held all the secrets of the world. “Buck gushes about the guy’s eyes?”

Suddenly, Chim froze, staring into space with the remote hovering in the air, like he realized he had said too much.

“I didn’t say that,” he replied finally, words coming out of his mouth too quickly.

Eddie was unimpressed—deeply.

“I’m sorry, are we going to ignore the whole he part? Since when Buck dates guys?”

At that, Chim relaxed, even though Hen was still looking at him like he was the main source of gossip. Which he was.

“I mean, Buck is bisexual, I think? He’s been out basically since his first week here.”

“Pansexual,” Hen corrected. Or Eddie supposed she corrected, because he had no idea what pansexual meant, aside from that it meant that Buck dates men. And that was the whole point of this, whatever this was.

"Buck isn't straight?"

"What?" Hen asked, glancing at him, book already back in her hand. "You're acting like this is brand new information."

"This is brand new information."

"I mean, you weren't here for the Buck 1.0 but I figured you would know by now," Chim remarked, a bit confused.

"Yeah, he went to Pride with Karen and I the first year you were here, got so drunk we had to drag his body out of the bar and into the car. He slept on our kitchen floor," Hen explained, shaking her head a bit. She frowned again, adjusting her glasses. "I'm sure I told you about it."

She did. She did and Eddie hadn’t connected the dots—their going-out being on the date of Pride and the bar Hen mentioned being in West Hollywood—and let himself think that Buck was not only out of his league but also playing a completely different sport for another three years, almost.

“Eddie,” Hen spoke up again, this time her tone reminding him of the way she spoke to kids on their calls. “He’s still Buck. Let him have this.”

“Yeah,” Chim chorused. “I haven’t seen the guy so enthusiastic about someone in a very long time. He’s this close to being lovesick again.”

Chim raised his hand, his thumb and point index finger so close it almost looked like they were touching. Eddie glared at them, not appeased at all.

“How do you know this—this guy—” He couldn’t even say this. He would’ve known. Buck would’ve told him. He didn’t like this at all. “—is actually good for him? How do you know it’s not another Abby or Veronica or Taylor or—”

“Or?” Hen prodded.

“Look, Buck is trying to move on,” Chim began, confusing Eddie even more.

“Chim—”

Chim got a slap to the arm from Hen for whatever he was saying but Chim continued nonetheless.

“Let him be happy, alright? Let him fall in love with this guy first and worry later.”

He crossed his arms again — didn't like it. In fact, he didn't understand why no one was sharing the same feeling. “You talk about it like he already did.”

“Buck loves easy but he doesn’t fall in love easy,” Hen said, like Eddie didn't know that already. Like it wasn't the part that was scaring him the most about this situation. Because they were talking about it like Buck was already deep enough with this guy — a guy that Eddie didn't even know existed five minutes ago, a guy that Eddie didn't even know was an option for Buck — like he was already falling for him. “They are really taking it slow, I bet, snail-pace probably. Just, support him with this, Eddie. It’s the least we can do.”

Both Chim and Hen looked at him expecting him to fold and that just didn't sit with them well. Buck was dating some guy, some guy they hadn't even met yet, for months and he didn't tell Eddie. How could they not just feel the same dread, the drop in the stomach, and the heat in the chest, as Eddie did? It was wrong and he could feel it. He couldn't just let it be.

He turned to Bobby, looking for help. “You’re not going to say anything about it?”

Bobby shrugged, not glancing up from where he was counting plates.

“Buck is like a—" he began and then he frowned. "Buck is important to me, to this family. We can’t shield him from everything we want to and I think,” he finally said. “I think it’s good that he is getting out there, I think that he needs to have someone, needs to feel like he isn’t alone.”

That didn't help the dread worse — that made the dread worse, his whole body stiffening like he was a step away from turning into a statue. It didn't help the burn under his heart and all his mind could think was it's wrong, it's wrong, wrong, wrong, wrongwrongwrong.

“He isn’t alone. He has me and Chris,” he replied over the knot in his throat.

Chin snorted to his left, somewhere vaguely in the background. “You really think he will be alright his whole life with you and—”

“Buck is the one making decisions,” Bobby interrupted. “He’s an adult. If he asks for advice, we’ll give it to him and if not and things fall through, we’ll be there for him. End of the discussion.”

The 118 Sauce Chat

Eddie: I definitely make spaghetti sauce extremely wrong but I’m not going to stop

Chim: please elaborate on the wrong way to make spaghetti sauce; it sounds highly entertaining?

Eddie: 1 chop onion and put in a pot

Eddie: Add 1 or 2 cans of diced tomatoes. Whatever makes the ratio of onion look right.

Eddie: Add a ridiculous amount of frozen peas. Peas should make up a notable portion of this sauce.

Eddie: Add frozen corn also if you wanna be real fancy. If I have bacon I’ll ad that too. But I very rarely have bacon.

Eddie: Cook on HIGH

Eddie: While sauce is cooking, grab the nearest bottle of mixed spices that isn't obviously for desserts. Add some. How much? I dunno, enough that you feel like you've added seasoning so it's technically cooking. (For me this is most often a mix called Moroccan, but it could be anything. Buck reorganised my kitchen recently so tonight it was something called Pizza Topping.)

Eddie: If you happen to have green herbs lying around, add those too. Whatever you have on hand that's green

Eddie: Let the sauce boil on HIGH until all the water is gone. Stir occasionally so the saucepan will be easier to clean later. Serve on cooked spaghetti noodles with no cheese

Eddie: Today I added a new step called "while the sauce is cooking, duck out for 15 seconds to text the group chat about spaghetti sauce, then get distracted and forget you are cooking." This adds a novel Extremely Burnt edge to the flavour profile.

Chim: I am not Italian, or of Italian descent by *any* stretch of the imagination.

I am also not one of those "cooking purists", who believes that everything must be done in a specific/ traditional way (unless you are making a cooking video with the title "how to make x" in which case if you don't specify mid video that your way is not traditional god help you).

I am a firm believer in "If it tastes good, then it is correct for you".

Chim: Except in this case

Bobby: This hurts every cooking bone in my body. The latent ancestors in my soul. The judgmental elf in my brain just bit a cyanide capsule

Hen: Why? The spices.

Using a different spice mix every time, based on what is ready at hand just ... hurts

Eddie: *sends SPICE IS SPICE meme*

Ravi: absolutely deranged, Eddie. Food crimes.

Bobby: Hey Eddie, looks like you forgot to mention the part where you obviously sweated the onions, because nobody would make spaghetti sauce that had straight up raw onions boiled in tomato juices.

Bobby: RIGHT????

Bobby: Please Eddie

Eddie: I don’t know what sweating the onions means

Hen: It means. It means you cook em a little in a pan with a bit of oil first

Eddie: A pan? How many dishes do you want me to have to wash here?

Hen: I mean you can also do it in the same pot you're making the spaghetti sauce in! The important thing is the onions get a little cooked before the wet stuff goes in, so they're not so wet and limp and boiled....

Eddie: Honestly this depends entirely on whether I remember to chop an onion first or I find the can opener for the tomatoes first. The ingredients go in in whatever order they go in.

Ravi: Eddie, who hurt you???

Eddie: A pack of wild chefs herded my mother off a cliff

Chim: Theres probably a hit out on you for this

Eddie: What kind of stupid idiot would waste money assassinating someone who's so clearly going to accidentally poison themself for free at some point

Bobby: hi Eddie, big fan of your firefighting, this is the sauce equivalent of the running up a metal ladder in a lightning storm to try to pull up a 6’0” tall man instead of lowering him to the ground

Chim: congratulations you found the worst way to do it! this feels like a spaghetti recipe made by AI before it got really sophisticated

Eddie: Not cinnamon. Cinnamon is a dessert spice. You use the nearest non-dessert spice.

Eddie: Yes it is! It's for muffins and pancakes and fruit pies!

Chim: Cinnamon powder is absolutely a dessert “spice” and Eddie if your cooking is this bad I can’t imagine your baked abominations

Uhmm my notifications are a mess, so no clue if anyone tagged me.

Aside from rewriting the Roswell New Mexico reunion fic that Word so kindly deleted, I have no WIPs. BUT this scene just popped up. So I might figure something out to write it into.

Hen glances at Eddie. "When did you know you were in love with Buck?"

Eddie looks at the coffee mug and can't help but smile at the memory. "Knowing everything now, the attraction was there from the start, the feelings slowly bubbling to more. But... well, you remember how Bobby went everyday with Buck after the truck bombing?"

Hem hums and nods, "Hard to forget." She frowns at the thought.

"He slept over at Buck’s too a few times. I think for late night emergencies. I have no clue where since we set up that temporary bed downstairs so he wouldn't have to take the stairs every time. But... well, you know how staying over a lot goes, some of Bobby's stuff was still there-"

"I don't see how any of this has to do with realizing you're in love with your best friend," Hen interrupts, holding up her hand as she looks confused.

"I'm getting there," Eddie answers. He's not annoyed. The memory too fond to ruin telling the story. "Anyways, Bobby left his clothes there too. And you remember how skinny Buck got? Like, unhealthy, losing his muscles due to not being able to do his obsessive work out routine? Well, I came over one night. Christopher was at my Abuela’s and I thought we were in desperate need for some guys night. Buck was able to walk again, I think Bobby was less of a helicopter parent, because he wasn't there. So, I walk in, complete darkness. But the light turns on upstairs and down he walks, wearing Bobby's clothes. He looked adorable, like... kind of like when Chris wears one of my shirts when he do something that can damage his clothes. They were too big on him, 'Nash' on the back of his shoulders. He looked so sleepy, hair a mess, not cut to his usual short hair. But he also looked so comfortable... almost safe? At first I thought it was really sweet, seeing him like that in his father figure's clothes. Something he probably never did as a kid, and I doubt he fit in Maddie’s clothes. But then... he smiled at me. Even though he was exhausted, he gave me this beautiful smile and grabbed the pizza I had brought. His eyes lit up and I... I thought... oh. I'm in love with him. Simple as that. Nothing big or dangerous. Just... him looking comfortable and safe and happy."

Hen puts her face in her hands, "That's so adorable. Uhg. I hate you guys."

Eddie laughs, "No you don't."

A smile breaks over her face and she looks up at him, "Nah. I don't."

My 911 hills I will die on:

Eddie Diaz is gay

Buck has ADHD- the writers could come knocking on my door and tell me that he’s not and I still would argue with them with a PowerPoint and everything

The Buckley parents deserve to go straight to hell and their redemption arc makes me foam at the mouth (negative)

More on that: the insistence of a show that is so deeply rooted in the concept of found family to constantly give shitty parents redemption arcs is so irritating

Maddie Buckley didn’t raise buck since she was 9 years old while dealing with her own trauma or give him her jeep and money (AKA HER LITERAL SAFETY NET TO ESCAPE HER ABUSER) just so people can sit there and call her a bad sister -I’m a Maddie Buckley defender and I stand by that

Both sides were flawed with the lawsuit thing and neither should be too harshly judged- Bobby kept buck out when buck already proved himself but he was doing it out of protectiveness in his own flawed way because let’s be honest he just saw the guy he considers a son nearly die in front of him three times in one year and saw the PT and toll it all took through the whole process and keep in mind he’s already lost 2 kids already but buck also shouldn’t have sued impulsively or disclosed such intimate information and should’ve tried to take a more rational approach but let’s also be fair and remember this is the guy THAT DID GO THROUGH ALL THOSE THINGS IN THAT SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME like no one would be okay mentally, no one would be rational, not when you spend a shit ton of time to recover only to be told (in his brain at least) that it’s not enough from someone you not only consider as a mentor, friend and father figure but also the same person who was motivating you through your recovery

The way Shannon spoke about Christopher’s cerebral palsy will never not rub me the wrong way I’m sorry to any who love her

The way Natalia spoke about bucks death is also just a no from me

I actually hated the whole thing with Hen and the madney engagement like idk why the writing felt it was appropriate to try to compare Hen CHEATING (granted it was ooc and in season one) with Maddie suffering postpartum depression make it make sense- they could’ve had the same level of hen and chimney friendship moment/ hen looking out for him without doing this type of thing which just made me a little angry with hen while watching it but ultimately deciding this storyline doesnt exist in my brain
