How I try to make the background a real environment for the character featured in it, even if abstract. I just want him to feel unique, massive and heavy with some bull and big cat influence. I also want to include tusks since in mythology the behemoth is often elephant like

In my childhood, the dragonology books were a huge passion and creative influence for me. Especially the illustrations by douglas carrel. Another book illustrator that i was kinda obsessed with was chriss riddell, just love how detailed their illustrations are Ghibli studio's style I always love. Just watching their movies is such a treat, I always feel so full of inspiration. As for current inspirations? Honestly the artists I follow and the music i listen to. I always draw the best art when my spotify shuffle liked songs playlist has just the right flow and it fuels me! And when I see other artists share info on their characters or glimpses into their oc projects it makes me want to work on my characters!! And when my fav artists upload an art piece with such good shapes and colors and compositions?? Augh it makes me want to draw. Oh an animatics! I love watching animatics! Especially for musicals they are so fucking good and so many talented artists it fills me with joy. just gives me straight up shivers!! Another thing that fuels me is the reactions of you guys and my friends! I want to share my characters and art and use them to engage with people. Get them interested in my world, inspire them, just engage with the community, get talking! So yeah art is very important to me haha. Normally I get really mad when im in a dryspell like this but seeing how i drew 18 art pieces last month im cutting myself some slack haha, i deserve some rest after that, especially since my routine and energy levels are extremely wack right now, i need to recover. Oh what kind of manga artstyle is most appealing to you :0? I asked the previous question because fell in love with fujimoto style and how he handles facial expressions. But now Im intrigued of what appeals you OwO

I feel like when I get asked what stuff I like I immediately forget everything I've ever liked but hmm

I think I tend to like more art styles that learn towards a more cartoony direction tbh? Though not necessarily; I also like how Urasawa draws but he does tend to get labelled as more realistic (though I'd label him as rather cartoony, but that's just imo).

From the angle of things that aren’t humans/character designs, but rather environment and lines, I think I like the art in Dorohedoro more. idk why but the way the environments are objects are drawn in Dorohedoro is more appealing to me than how Fujimoto does it.

One thing about Fujimoto though is that I like how he draws background characters more than how he draws his main characters. I feel it’s a common thing with a lot of artists in general that they are more daring to make wilder designs for background characters while playing it safer with the main characters.

I randomly remembered Lost by AilurophileChan and then proceeded to reread it again. I love every single one of the characters but oh my GOD does Golden Freddy drink the dumb bitch juice.

So I doodled my ds of Goldie Fredbear yelling at Golden Freddy for being a dumb bitch... despite he’s probably an even dumber bitch who also has “run away from your problems” disease. And he’s shorter, so... get fucked, Goldie, you sassy lost child?

I was gonna redo the lines and make them good but ughhh I gave up and was like fuck it I’m colouring this and then did.

Gem Steven’s gem is flipped upside-down. (Theory/Speculation time!)

SPOILERS FOR @spudinacup’s SU AU “Gone Wrong”!

Also WARNING: long post!

So recently, someone pointed out that Steven has a scar on his torso going across his gem’s location, which I found interesting in and of itself. Makes sense, since he wasn’t able to heal it since he DIED and his gem was shoved out of his body before it got the chance to heal him. That slash mark is there now. Wow, neat! Nice detai-

Hold on a sec.

Is his gem... flipped upside-down? Well, it’s been like this for a while, maybe it’s just a creative choi-

...oh.

This is VERY intentional.

So I did some digging, and found much more symbolism and possible foreshadowing, and now I want to throw out my theory about Gem Steven here, including his potential arc and character development. I’ll try to keep everything brief while still blowing your minds, and I’ll try to get across what my jumbled mind has come up with.

Spud please notice me.

I will not be uploading photos to go with everything I say (go reread the comic after this and verify for yourself what all I’ve said), but I’ll show visuals when they’re necessary. I do not claim ANY of this art as mine (I wish my art was this good ;u; ), all of it belongs to Spudinacup and their SU AU, which has all kinds of hidden symbolism, foreshadowing, and visual cues we haven’t picked up on yet, as I’ve just learned while researching this theory. This ain’t your run-of-the-mill AU, everything in here is intentional. Scott Spud doesn’t do coincidences. So I’ll point out that stuff in screenshots.

Okay let’s go.

SO! To begin with, let’s talk about why his gem may have flipped, and to realize that, we have to know when. We don’t see the gem much, but we do see it constantly through Chapter 1, where it is normal. The pentagon is pointed upward. However, in Chapter 2, this is where we see it flipped upside down. When did that happen? We didn’t see it. I believe it happened in that first scene in the bathroom, right after we left. The butterflies were swarming angrily, and Steven was very lost in thought.

Notice whenever those butterflies appear. They seem to show up every time he thinks about who he is. Is he still Steven, or is he someone else now? Steven is dead. Everyone is mourning him, trying to heal him, but Gem is still here. So if Steven is dead, but Gem is still alive, that must mean he isn’t Steven then, right? But then that undoes everything we learned in “Change Your Mind.” He IS Steven. He’s always been Steven. But that’s when they were together...

...And so the butterflies swarm.

Notice how the first one shows up when he looks at himself in the mirror. When you look in a mirror, you should see yourself, right? But who IS he? In the show, butterflies represent thoughts and ideas, mostly dark ones, disturbing ones, or ones you don’t want to think about. Well, he already spent WAY too long proving who he was, so now to do it again sucks.

But he isn’t Steven anymore. He’s on the couch being mourned. But he’s already proved he IS Steven before, and it’s this uncertainty that is making his mind swirl. I believe this is why he flipped his gem. Just upside-down, so it’s a small thing no one will notice, while he tries to figure it out. In doing so, he’s separated himself from “Steven”, as they’re not one and the same anymore, and the flipped gem shows this. He’s someone else right now. Maybe. He’s not sure.

So what do we call you for right now? Steven. He already proved he was Steven, so until he’s proved otherwise, Steven it is. Now he just has to figure out what exactly that name means and wether or not he still fits that quota.

Flipped gem/Pink Diamond imagery is EVERYWHERE, mostly hidden in drastic shadows or in panels. It’s things you don’t notice at first, until they’re staring you in the face. See if you can spot them from the 3 screenshots below.

There’s probably more hidden throughout the comic, these are just the ones I’ve found that I feel confident enough to show as hard evidence.

So, what does it all mean? We’ll talk about the screenshots in order, left to right.

First, the Diamond is hidden as the panel in the center. In it, Human Steven lies upside down while the gem-panel is technically upside right. This can be interpreted in a few ways, but what that means to me is that something isn’t right here. If you flip Steven back around so he’s upside right, the gem is now upside down. Notice Gem Steven looking towards his human half on the bottom panel there, clutching his shirt over his gem. It’s a motion we’ve seen Steven do a TON throughout the show, anytime he’s thinking about Rose/Pink, who he is, or complicated gem stuff as a whole. Because early on, his identity was always shrouded in shadow. THAT is Steven, on the couch, without his gem. So for Gem Steven to call himself Steven is inaccurate, but also not at the same time. It’s all swarming in his head, and thus, the gem is flipped.

Next, he’s just broken the rejuvenator. This was probably the hardest to spot of the three, but if you look at the panel where Bismuth asks “feel better?” you will see, in the background, a white line cut through the soft pink hues. Look closer. It’s the outline of the gem, but it’s flipped correctly this time. This is because Bismuth seems to be the only person NOT saying Steven is dead, and treating his gem half one and the same. Is she unnerved? Yeah, but who WOULDN’T be? This is still Steven we’re talking about, as emotionally blocked as he is. He’s aware of why everyone is being weird around him, so to see Bismuth trying her best to treat him with familiarity instead of a completely different, new, dangerous stranger is really calming and helps to calm the storm a bit.

Notice the gem is flipped correctly. This is because he feels like Steven right now. Bismuth has been constant confirmation that he is still Steven, no matter the circumstances. Notice how his eyes dialate back to a larger size. They do that a lot in the comic, articulating his emotions without changing the rest of his face. It’s a clever detail to keep track of. His eyes grow more relaxed, dialating bigger when she pats his shoulder, asking if he feels better after destroying the weapon that killed him. It’s a huge relief for him to hear. So, the gem is correct.

Finally, we see Bismuth telling Greg that his son is dead, which is very contradictory to what Bis was saying earlier (in Steven’s eyes). Where is the gem on that frame? Look at Steven’s shadow. There it is, facets and all. To us, the gem is correct, but think about it this way: if Steven were actually replaced with the gem in that frame, what would it look like, Pink’s or White’s? That’s right. The point is coming from his feet, meaning it would look more like White’s, meaning it is back to being flipped upside down. Again, Bismuth just said Steven is dead, meaning he’s back to questioning his whole entire identity. So it’s back to being flipped upside-down.

It seems that the orientation of the symbolic gems hidden throughout panels show quite clearly where his head is at in terms of who he is. If it’s upside down, he’s separating himself from the cold meatball on the couch, whereas when it’s normal/upside right, he is associating himself WITH the cold meatball on the couch.

Notice he’s been grabbing at his gem a lot recently, too, all things he does while in turmoil over who- or WHAT- he is. He cannot heal right now. He can’t use his powers. Some powers are new and unfamiliar (see the more recent pages where Lapis struck out with water and he blocked with those hexagonal shields/walls). “Steven HEALS people.” He can’t, so who is he?

This is something he’ll need to have an answer to by the time the comic is done, and this is a mission for Gem Steven and Gem Steven alone. If his human half were alive (and content without his gem), he’d probably call himself “Steven” no questions asked, since he GOT his answer already, two years ago. But Gem can’t do that, not when everyone keeps drawing all these lines between the two. He needs to learn what being “Steven” means, and know that he is a part of a greater whole, but on his own, he is STILL Steven. Everyone else needs to realize this, too, and stop separating the two. It’s gonna be rough, since it may feel like replacing what they lost, but is it really? It’s going to be a tough road to trek, and I don’t know what anyone’s answer is gonna be (that’s the big mystery here, after all), but I’m here for it.

Remember, all of this has been speculation on what may happen based on facts and clues Spud has presented us with. I’m not claiming to know how Gem Steven’s arc will end, but I am throwing my hat into the ring on where I THINK it will go. Either way, the foreshadowing, symbolism, and unspoken characterizations here have been excellent, and I’m looking forward to seeing everything play out. Spud, your mind is incredible, and whatever you’ve got planned over there, I’m confident the answer will be satisfactory.

Recently replayed Wario Land 3 and have discovered a newfound love for the character! So I was wondering if you have anything for Wario in your AU?

Wario is actually a pretty neat character, I agree! I did do a bit of headcanon for him but recent talks about pirates have given me new ideas! So, what I got so far:

-Wario is a Mushling! As a recap, the Mushlings are a subspecies of human who originate and are native to the Mushroom Kingdom. Seriously toying with the idea that he was once the next door neighbor to Mario and Luigi and was a bully to them in childhood, but I dunno yet!

-Wario has a rather checkered background to him! He's had a job in just about every industry you could think of and then some: plumbing, mechanic, fast food, casino, drug dealing, pirate, mercenary, treasure hunter, you name it and Wario's probably done it. As of now, he's the de-facto "ruler" of WarioLand, which I'm about to talk about in my next bullet point!

-WarioLand isn't an officially established country but it may as well be. And it's ruler is, of course, Wario. I have the idea that it was once a moderately sized island notorious for a lot of things: for its crime ring, for its difficulty to reach due to surroundings and erratic sea, and finally, its being a home base to a well known fleet of pirates. Well... was being a key term here. Long story short, Wario came to the island during his short-lived time as a pirate and he quickly grew tired of taking orders from head captain. He essentially booted the captain out and that kinda snowballed into him engaging in a weird turf-war for the island itself, of which he won by a longshot. Afterward he essentially kicked all the pirates off the island and took control of it, renaming it "WarioLand" out of his own arrogance.

Under his reign the place is still a bit seedy but it is also far more well-managed, well-funded, and has since become a tourist attraction due to it's biggest draw: opportunity. In WarioLand, anything can happen! It also helps that it holds the worlds largest and most extensive stretch of entertainment known to man. Its "amusement park" for lack of better term has everything you could possibly want: arcades, thrill rides, waterparks, safaris, casinos, bars, strip clubs, brothels, the whole shebang and then some.

Locals have some complaints, but the general consensus is that Wario is far more preferable as its leadership than whomever ran the place before him. At least with him around, people have a chance at making a decent living and are generally unbothered so long as you don't mess with Wario himself.

just came to the realisation that i havent posted the character designs for a comic im planning on doing despite the fact ive had the idea for several months. in light of this new information, ive decided im gonna post them (and the plot at the end).

protagonist #1: C.K

C.K may look like just a catboy, mainly because he is. C.K is the result of a science experiment in which a mad scientist spilced his human genes with his cats cat genes (not in a weird way in the mad-scientist-in-a-lab-with-too-much-technology-and-time-on-his-hands way) who escaped his home facility and got lost because cat. if you ignore the fact that hed be an absolute genetic nightmare if he was real hes a cute little fella (thanks to reythespacebae for giving me tips on how to draw the feet paws, very helpful ty)

protagonist #2: Plant

yeah hes just plant really. C.K’s unplanned buddy. was kept in one of mad scientist mans labs for decor and came to life via funky radiation or smth like that and is concerningly jaded for a sentient plant. he ran into C.K for the first time way outside the facility and told him of the mad scientist mans Diabolical Plan and that they have to stop him. is Plant the actual plant or the pot? no one knows. i mean like he knows but he wont tell you

antagonist: Dr Click

i dont have anything fancy for this guy hes basically if you took eggman and made him smart in gene splicing instead of robots. Dr Click has this insane Diabolical Plan to take over the world because hes the bad guy n stuff. the moustache will be a personality trait and everyones gonna have to deal with that. yes those glasses are meant to look like an OwO thankyou for noticing

cat: Simba

this is the cat. his name is Simba and hes lovely. just kinda chills and doesnt do anything evil. i need to make him fluffier hes too unfluffy

there are a couple other supporting characters that i havent gotten around to drawing yet but youll see them when i actually make this thing.

the basic plot is that Dr Click is an evil scientist and is going to take over the world with his gigantic colony of gene-spliced creatures called landsharks, which he made by splicing dog genes and shark genes together. where did he get these genes? somewhere unethical probably, hes evil. landsharks looks cute but hoo boy they can be dangerous when trained right. C.K and Plants whole mission is to stop Click from doing any of that because thatd be bad. theres also an onslaught of other genetic missmatches hes made but those are mostly in the background.

now at this point you may (but probably not) be wondering - fabian, where the fuck did you get the idea for this? which is a valid question. you wanna know where i got this idea from? what inspired me to make such a strange story line?

a youtuber who reads reddit memes for a living. im not fucking joking this is where my inspiration came from. C.K is basically his channel mascot, Plant is there because it became a huge meme in his community at some point last year (watch this twitch clip to see what i mean), Simba is his actual cat, and Dr Click? literally just him if he was an evil scientist. this wasnt necessary information but i needed to voice the absurdity of what ive created lmao

anyway yeah there were the main characters in the comic im gonna make

Heya there! Back with another speedpaint owo. This time I will start a new series of speedpaint where I draw multiple Undertale AU Sanses (yes Sanses) for a period of time until I feel satisfied. So it will be LIMITED. I will make the wallpaper based on a certain category. You can also see the sketch HERE on my @zahra-doodle-sketch blog

The category of this speedpaint will be the "Multiverse Travelers". I know there are many other multiverse travelers type Sans but that's for another category. From left to right there's Quantumtale, Crystaltale, XTale, Epictale, Abysstale, and Paper Crane. I will give the reason why, far below :”>

I also use the music based on what the AU I draw. Nice little detail right? Though if an AU doesn't have a particular music then I'll have to search for a music that will fit them (doesn't have to be UT related lol).

Here’s the reason why I put them there: 1. Quantumtale [TK] by @perfectshadow06 It's because TK is seen to be able travelling through the multiverse from perfectshadow's short comics and some artwork too. Also, looks like he's protecting the timelines too.

2. Crystaltale [Chance] by @zahrart17 (me) If you have been following me then you know that it's my Sans lol. In my story, he has the ability to make portals to travel the multiverse as he pleases and he acts like a guardian to the crystal universes (a copy from the original one). One info can't be spoiled too much right? Also yes, I'm making an animation for the opening as you can see from the music title. Please give him some love too qwq

3. XTale [Cross] by @jakei95 It's obvious. Watch Underverse lmao. It’s a godlike anime XD

4. Epictale [Epic] by @yugogeer012 It's obvious too since he's gonna appear in Underverse Season 2 and he fulls of memes and cookies lol (Feel da power of memes and cookies bruh!). Btw do you notice the rubber chicken? It’s a reference to the Bruh vs Dude comic. I absolutely love it XD

5. Abysstale [Abyss] by @metakazkz It's mostly referring to the old Abysstale. In the old Abysstale, Abyss could make portals to other universes. But with the New Abysstale, he uses the machine at his AU to do it. I actually want to replace him with another Sans since the New one isn't showing travel the multiverse yet or as the main story at this point. But since I already recorded it then...I'll just put it there :3

6. Paper Crane by @little-noko It's a very cool concept. He could also go to other universes as well. Also, he's cute :3 Btw he’s not a sans! Though I still put him here cause he’s the main character for the paper crane story and I already record it.

Below here I make a little statement about a certain things I always encountered.

Now, I want to make a statement about the recent comments I got for the past year. No, I do not based my Sans on Abyss or TK. At the time I made him in 2017, I don’t even know they exist lol. I like only know Glitchtale Season 1 and then I kinda left the AU in dust (and the fandom) cause my art suck at that time and I don’t have the will yet. Then I get to do it again on December 2018.

Tbh, I’m kinda upset about it since I made it out of from my heart :>. But now, I kinda see it as okay, maybe they don’t know. But sometimes, some people are stubborn. So I hope this will cleared up the confusion too ^^;
